More Colosseum art with Nascour! We're almost done with this series! Man, that was short, huh? Anyway, yeah, Orre character designs continue to be Out There compared to the rest of what I consider the main series, like I can see Miror B or Venus or some of the XD character designs getting transplanted to one of the "normal" Pokemon games, but not one like Nascour. Unlike Gonzap, it's less the body shape and more those eyes. Those eyes...do not show up on humans in "normal" Pokemon games as part of their standard design, like even Valerie from X and Y could be excused as just having super-dilated pupils or something hehe.

So i'm looking back at old games and this guy, Jakylla (or Nascour in the american version ig), has zero battle theme, but when he appears the tower his theme is fucking threatening, possibly the most threatening pokemon theme i have ever heard. So when you actually fight him, you only hear the sound effects of the pokemons and the cheering of the audience. It's perfect. Fucking love the character. I mean listen to this shit:

the colosseum credits r playing! once i caught all the shadow mons in the realgam colosseum and beat nascour (the... semi-final boss i guess LMAO) i lost to evice (worst lead matchup of my life btw, he led with the Worst Possible Thing) so i re-evaluated my team and made two changes: swapped Surf on quagsire for Blizzard instead and swapped Dragonbreath on flygon for Protect - and it REALLY paid off because for instance he kept wanting to target flygon for the kill with salamence, so i could protect on flygon and use blizzard on salamence with quagsire, etc. i also did some really careful sleep turn stuff with yawn onto slaking

tbh quagsire was seriously the MVP of the fight he did so much thank you Soup the quagsire. him and Mantis the flygon got through most of his team, eventually went down but by the time he had only tyranitar remaining i had 4 entire pokemon left on pretty good health, and through a series of espeon reflect and a whole lot of protect stalling, umbreon confuse rays, and ampharos thunder wave i was able to save my master ball and get tyranitar in a timer ball instead!! (i had a bunch of them from earlier in the game)

i am aware of the glitch that lets you use pokeballs, even the master ball, infinitely, and i often use that when playing colosseum but this time i really wanted to not cheap out and do it the intended way so i caught every shadow pokemon along the way in balls normally and now i even have a spare master ball to pass to my emerald later :^) i was going to use the master ball for tyranitar if i was on the brink of death since i didn't wanna redo the fight but yeah

now i have to grind down the heart gauges for the rest of these shadow mons...

Finally, here's Evice! Or rather, Es Cade, or rather rather, the guy who was literally censored in my Nintendo Power player's guide. I appreciate that even with being a for-profit walkthrough they took the time to not spoil this plot twist, even if it does kinda come outta nowhere in the no-foreshadowing-whatsoever sense aside from maaaaybe Nascour first being introduced walking out of the mayor's house hehe.

And with the boss of the Cipher Syndicate drawn, the Colosseum series is done! With that out of the way, there's gonna be another break and then you can probably guess what game's next. Yup, it'll be Pokemon XD!
