❥ — SUMMARY in which the rain that supposedly ruined your day has it's perks, and being in close proximity to the leader of the diamon clan is apparently one of them

"Adaman!"When you spot Adaman and his Leafeon in the Crimson Mirelands, the sky is overcast and a gentle but everpresent breeze is rustling his hair and clothes. It's calm — quiet, even.

"Adaman!"

You're out on yet another quest for someone who'd dropped their bag while running away from a Hippowdon (you can't say you blame them), and the thought of some company was definitely welcomed. Any time spent with the Diamond clan leader was time well spent, in your opinion.

He notices you and immediately waves, calling your name in response to your shout, "fancy seeing you here!"

Once you get closer, you begin to fish through your bag to find treats for his Leafeon and your pokémon, letting them all out while you chatted idly to the tall man, "I was almost caught in the clutches of a Drapion yesterday, I don't think I've ran that fast in a while!"

A close encounter with a dangerous pokémon is nothing new for you —and it's nothing new for Adaman to hear about— but as you speak he fixates solely on you and quickly forgets about the food in his palm, entranced by your words. He could swear that whenever you're around, it's as though you use hypnosis on him.

It isn't until there's a crack of lightning that seems to run a tear through the clouds, closely followed by a low roar of thunder, that Adaman is pulled away from his trance — he hadn't been told a storm was expected.

You're barely given a moment to think before the soft tap of rain hits your head.

You’re not sure ten seconds pass before its coming down exponentially. The rain quickly becomes a torrential downpour, and you begin running with Adaman and your pokemon following closely.

It seems only natural that Adaman manages to pull in front of you considering his talk stature. You aren’t thinking much other than wanting to find shelter, but for a split second you pray to Almight Sinnoh that he won’t just leave you behind.

Your prayers are answered when the diamond clan leader grabs onto your wrist and pulls you along. As you continue running in search of refuge from the rain, you aren't sure if your heart is beating so quickly because of the sudden exercise or because of Adaman's touch. The tight grip of his fingers around your wrist feels warm and strong.

Your clothes are quickly soaked through, and you can feel your hair sticking to your scalp. Despite the discomfort, you keep running, heart pounding in your chest, until you finally spot a small cave tucked into the side of a nearby hill.

You follow him inside, grateful for the temporary respite from the storm. The cave is dark, but you can just make out the outline of Adaman's figure as he shakes the water from his hair and clothes.

The space is small and enclosed - to the point where you can feel the heat radiating from his body. You turn to him and catch his eye. There's a moment where you're both staring at each other in silence, still catching your breath. The sound of the rain hitting the cave walls echoes around you.

There's something in the way he's looking at you that makes your heart skip a beat, and you're suddenly aware of how close you are to him. His lips are slightly parted and you notice his Adam's apple bob in his throat.

Maybe it's the crackling thunder that sets off a spark, but within seconds you've wrapped your hands in his jacket and pull him towards you, lips pressing flush against each other. A hum of surprise tumbles from his lips at the contact, but Adaman quickly reciprocates. As you kiss, the feeling running through your veins could rival the intensity of the lightning outside: it's fervent and eager and as you begin to pull away, you feel him chase after your lips. You meet him half way.

It's softer this time, and Adaman's hands find their way to your cheeks, pulling you as close as he possibly can. The world around you melts away as you kiss, thunder becomes a distant grumble and the howling wind is long forgotten. He can't help but pray for Almighty Sinnoh to halt both space and time so he can just live in this moment.

You both pull away again, lightly gasping for air but grinning boyishly at each other. Despite the darkness you can just about see the flush of his cheeks, spattered red crawling from his neck to his ears. You're unsure if the hammering in your ears is your heart, his, or the rain outside. You settle on a mixture of the three.

"That was... nice," he's first to break the silence and you almost snort out a laugh at his words.

"Nice?"

"Well, yeah," he chuckles, leaning forward to press his forward against yours, "more than nice, even."

You decide in that moment that you hope the storm outside doesn't stop raging, especially if Adaman keeps letting you kiss him.

❥ — SUMMARY you and adaman do some stargazing and you realise that he feels a lot like home

You wanted to go home. To eat a proper meal and sleep in your actual bed in your warm apartment and your fluffy pyjamas.

Since you had (quite literally) fallen into Hisui you had become very familiar with the homesick feeling that settled in the pit of your stomach, making itself known during the middle of the night when you found yourself restless in your room.

Tonight was no different, although you were camped out in the Crimson Mirelands, you and your Ursaluna huddled up together near a pathetic excuse of a campfire you had put together. Ursaluna lay behind you, purring as you lazily ran scratched behind his ears and letting you use him as a (very big, very fluffy) pillow. As soon as your surroundings had quietened down, thoughts about being back home hit you like a rampant ocean wave, stomach twisting and churning at the thought of the fact you might never see your family again. Hisui was fun for a couple of days – a nice getaway from your current job. You weren't sure how long you had been there anymore, it felt like it must've been half a year, and you were just ready to go home.

Starting to feel sick, you gave Ursaluna a gentle pat before heaving yourself off the ground and walking away from your make-shift campsite.

The midnight air nipped at your skin, although you'd normally complain about the cold nights in Hisui, the gentle wind was refreshing - distracting, almost - as it filled your lungs. Breathe in, 2, 3, 4, hold, 2, 3, 4, breathe out, 2, 3, 4.

By the time the sick feeling in your stomach had settled down, you'd wandered to Lake Valor, stopping to stare at your reflection in the water. You half expected to see someone else staring back, having not looked in a mirror since the last time Arezu did your hair. Maybe you hadn't changed much physically, but you felt like a totally new person since you'd found yourself taking residence in Jubilife Village.

"You stargazing?"

The new voice pulled your attention away from your reflection, turning around and settling your eyes on the Diamond clan leader, Adaman, his leafeon and your Ursaluna, who marches right past them to nuzzle his oversized snout against you, letting out a satisfied grunt when you let out a laugh at the playful bear.

"We were taking a walk and found that big softie sniffing around for you," Adaman offered a smile, walking closer so he could rest a hand on Ursaluna's back, scratching the pokémon gentle, "thought we'd follow him to make sure you're okay."

There was a beat of silence.

"You are okay, right?" Adaman's gentle smile dropped to one of worry, inching closer so he could actually see you under the moonlight. He was really pretty.

"Yeah, I'm fine," you mumbled, feeling a little breathless at both his sincerity and proximity, unable to meet the man's gaze, "just a little homesick, is all."

Adaman nodded slowly, a hum of understanding filling the silence between you both as he shifts his gaze from you to the night above, "want to sit down for a bit? You don't have to talk about it, but we can just... chill out, if you want?"

You couldn't stop the smile forming on your face, slightly proud that your 'modern language' had seeped into the great Diamond clan leader's vocabulary. Nodding, you watched Adaman take a seat in front of Lake Valor, waiting for you to sit beside him.

Taking a seat in the grass, you watched as Adaman's Leafeon rushed over to sit on his lap, letting out a content yap as Adaman began to fuss over the dog pokémon. You couldn't help but admire pleased smile that tugged at his lips, the soft glow from the moon lighting up his features in a way you could only describe as dreamy. Any time the pair of you crossed paths seemed to be when there was an issue to be solved, far too stressed to take in his appearance, but now, seeing him totally at peace under the sky, nobody else could hold a flame to him.

"Do you know any constellations?" you weren't sure where the question came from, probably because he asked you about stargazing, "I mean like- could you point them out? Obviously you know constellations-"

A loud, vibrant laugh interrupted your rambling (and Leafeon's peace, by the way it jolted awake), your gaze settling on Adaman as his chest shook, smile wide and eyes crinkled as he tried to calm his laughter, which had started to die down to silent wheezing, "sorry, sorry! I do know some constellations, yes, but no, I couldn't point them out to you".

His laughter was infectious and you soon found yourself grinning too, shifting your gaze to the sky above and pointing a finger at a random clusters of stars, "okay, well that right there is Adamaneda and it's definitely not a name I made up."

"A constellation named after me? I think I like the sound of that," although you were still pointing at the make-shift constellation, his eyes were fixed solely on you, "when we both meet Almighty Sinnoh maybe we'll get constellations right next to each other, yeah?"

The pure suggestion that he wanted to meet Almighty Sinnoh with you at his side, such a huge accomplishment and he wanted to achieve it with you?

You couldn't help but think that maybe if, when you got those pangs of homesickness, Adaman was there, you wouldn't mind staying until you had filled out every pokédex entry that Professor Laventon gave you, until you had met Almighty Sinnoh and helped everyone in Jubilife Village get over their (frankly, ridiculous) fear of pokémon. If Adaman would take the time to sit with you under the stars like this, maybe you wouldn't mind staying for a bit longer.

"Yeah, I'd like that".
