She clung to the wall, but it was purpose she grasped at long last, and that carried her upwards. She was not a lynx or a spider or even the Wraith. She was Inej Ghafa, and her future was waiting above.

There's literally sooo many that I love, but this one hit really hard.

Djerholm: what pair of characters would you kill to see interact with each other?

Zoya and Inej once Inej gains her reputation as Captain Ghafa. I think officially they would talk about her travels and make deals to bring slavers down, but on a more personal level, they would bond over their Suli heritage (which I would love to see Zoya talk more about). Obviously a fight scene with them together would be awesome too.

Bonus points if Nikolai is freaking out in a corner fangirling over Captain Ghafa.

Like ok. I know any kind of good outdoor gear is a big investment but if you are looking for wise ways to make that investment and want shit that will last you a long time and take care of you outside and your reason for needing this is fieldwork or general outdoor inclement-weather resilience:

-Heavy-duty canvas work jacket/barn coat: Tough, warm, will keep you feeling dry pretty long on its own. There's days in the Pacific Northwest where if the rain is drizzly enough i don't even bother throwing on a rain jacket over mine, bc I know the rain won't penetrate in the time I need to be out. Also probably one of the cheaper things you can find in still really good quality. -Rubber fisherman-style raingear: do not fall for the North Face/Patagonia hype. Light, sporty windbreaker rainshells are made for specific scenarios only. If you're going to be out in heavy rain for a long time you want something like this. If you can ALSO get matching rubber rainpaints, you will be living in hog heaven.

-Thermal underwear/long johns: For both upper and lower body but lower body is a lifesaver. I cannot stress how much less miserable you will be with even one extra thermal layer on your legs. They're such a big part of our body that we often completely don't insulate. I know the gold standard for these things is wool, but wool is expensive; polyester will do just fine. You just want to avoid them being cotton, if you can.

-Tall insulated rubber deck/muck boots: Like the kind fishermen wear in Alaska. I have circulation issues that make keeping my extremities warm in winter living hell and i have only ever managed to be comfortable in winter wearing these on my feet. Put some wool socks under these bad boys and nothing on earth can strike you down. Plus like the ability to walk through mud and water with impunity is a huge boon. -Logger-style work boots: I'm of the opinion that if you have to choose between buying hiking boots or buying work boots, work boots will get you further every time. A good pair, if you make sure to keep them clean and polished, will last you forever. Warm, sturdy, really hard to get wet, and just really, really useful to own. (Don't get em steel-toed if your aim is to stay warm outdoors.)

Chapter 9 Snippet:

Enoch had planned to leave on a final, quick supply run two weeks before Alya’s due date, but then she’d been born two and a half weeks early. While they weren’t running dangerously low on supplies, they were definitely running low on variety.

Fitz hurried to the cargo bay, swiping a hand across his stinging eyes. He and Enoch made quick work of putting away the groceries, and he was assembling some cheese toasties for himself and Jemma when Enoch pulled what looked like a rolled-up piece of olive green cloth from one of the bags. “I nearly forgot. When I picked up the cables for the time drive, my contacts gave me this to give to my employees to congratulate them on the birth of their child.” He tilted his head. “Obviously they meant you and Jemma Simmons.”

“Obviously.” Fitz took the green cloth, which turned out to be a pair of baby pajamas patterned with little gray and white birds. Turning it over in his hands, he felt oddly unsettled by the otherwise innocuous and very cute pajamas. While Enoch could buy most of their supplies at stores and outposts on various planets, some of the things they needed—like cables compatible with a time-traveling device—were harder to find. So he’d had to find contacts who could find those things for him.
