Rookie Reflections | LS2

Platonic! Logan Sargent x Rookie!Reader

Summary: Being the only new addition to the grid, it may seem intimidating to try and introduce yourself to the other drivers. Logan remembers exactly what it's like to be the new rookie and doesn't want a repeat of what happened to him to happen to anyone else.

A/N: Pronouns weren’t specified so I tried to keep this as gender neutral as possible. I still haven’t decided if I want to write in 2nd or 3rd person, it really depends on the fic/request. Previous reader inserts I have written have been done in 2nd person so I defaulted to that with this fic, but do let me know which one you prefer. Logan, my favorite driver, I’m glad my first request is for him. Also I have no hate towards Daniel, it just made a lot more sense to me for the reader to take his seat.

Silly season didn’t come with a lot of shake ups like people expected it to. The only team to switch up their driver line up for the upcoming season was RB, with Daniel being replaced by the newest Formula 2 champion after not delivering the results Red Bull had wanted from him.

You had met Yuki for the first time during the car launch before pre-season testing, but with all the cameras, interviews, and excitement surrounding the new car launch, you were unable to find the time to properly get to know each other. You had hoped to get a chance to maybe sit down with Yuki and get to know your new teammate, but now in Bahrain with all the drivers in one place it seemed that all of them had already split off into their pre-established friend groups that had been built up over years of racing alongside each other, Yuki included.

That’s the thing with being the only new driver for the season: All the other drivers already knew each other well enough that you felt too intimidated to approach any of them. Going to Formula 2 where you knew almost all the drivers to Formula 1 where you knew no one, it was like being the new kid at school. And that seemed even more evident during the pre-season photoshoot.

Yuki still had some last bits of data to go over with his engineer so you arrived at the photoshoot without your teammate. While you did arrive early, most of the drivers were already there, either talking with each other or members of their team. A few gave you curious glances, maybe an awkward smile or two, but none felt the need to approach. Not wanting to risk bothering anyone, you decided to find a spot secluded from the various groups of people while you waited for either Yuki to show up or for the photoshoot to start. Maybe when the photographer started to position people for the photos, you could possibly strike up a conversation with whoever was placed near you. But for now, you felt content standing off to the side where no one would really approach you. Or so you thought.

Logan had forgotten something in the Williams garage, making him arrive at the photoshoot after Alex. And while he could have walked over to his teammate, who was currently chatting with George, he noticed you standing off to the side. You were away from everyone to where you wouldn’t get in the way as you scrolled through your phone.

Logan knows that move. He did it many times during his rookie season because of how out of place he felt. But he also wasn’t the only rookie during his season, unlike you who was the only new person to the grid. He can probably guess how nervous or out of place you may seem. Logan knows that feeling. He hates that feeling and wouldn’t wish it on anyone.

Maybe that’s why he had decided to approach you. Or maybe it was because he didn’t have anyone else to talk to since Alex was busy talking to George, and Oscar was busy talking to Lando. Either way, he thought it was a good idea to introduce himself.

“Hey,” Logan said, getting your attention. “You’re the new RB driver, right?”

Logan already knew the answer to that question, but he thought that was a better question to ask than pointing out the fact that you’re the new rookie.

“Yea, I am.” You said. Guess you were wrong about people not approaching you as you looked at the man standing before you.

“I’m Logan.” He said, holding out his hand for you to shake. You already knew his name before he introduced himself. Hell, you knew all drivers names on the grid but that was another intimidating reason why you hadn’t tried to approach anyone.

“I’m (Y/N).” You said, shaking Logan’s hand.

“So, are you excited for the upcoming season?” Logan asked.

“Yea. The car seems to be a good contender with the testing we’ve done so far. Hopefully I’ll be able to score some points by the end of the season.”

“What makes you think you won’t get points at the beginning?” Logan asked.

“Well I am the rookie this season. I’m still getting used to the car, it’s a huge difference from the F2 car I was driving last year. Plus everyone else has been racing longer than I have. It's gonna take me a while to catch up.” You explained.

“Oh come on, don’t doubt yourself this early. Trust me, it doesn’t help.” Logan said. You shrugged.

“I guess you’re right. I mean, I’m gonna try my best no matter what, but the highest I can see myself getting for the first race is P15.” You told him.

“That’s a good start. “ Logan said. He smiled and you couldn’t help but smile as well. The two of you ended up talking about what you both did over the winter break and your expectations for the season until the photographer called for the photoshoot to start. You hadn’t even realized Yuki had arrived until the photographer positioned you two next to each other.

“I saw you and Logan talking earlier. I hope it was a good conversation.” He whispered as you waited for the photographer to take a picture.

“He was just introducing himself. We talked about our expectations for the season.” You told him. Yuki smiled a bit.

“Logan’s always been nice. I’m glad you’re getting to know some of the other drivers.”

“Come on Yuki, pick up!” You mumbled as the call went to voicemail again. After pre-season testing had wrapped up, you had finally managed to get to know Yuki by going out to get dinner together with the rest of the team. He had promised that the two of you would walk together through the paddock on the first day of the season, but after arriving at the entrance you saw no sign of your teammate. And the fact that he wasn’t answering his phone didn’t help either. But looking around towards all the cars pulling in towards the entrance, you did however see Logan arriving.

“Logan!” You quickly walked over to him as he got closer to the entrance.

“Hey. What are you doing out here? Shouldn’t you be with your team?” He asked, noticing the lack of anyone from RB with you.

“Well me and Yuki were supposed to walk in together, but I can’t find him anywhere and he’s not answering my calls.” You said. You looked past the turnstiles at the entrance to the paddock. “I don’t really want to walk in by myself.”

“Do you want me to walk in with you?” Logan asked. You looked back at him.

“If it’s not too much to ask.” You said. Logan just shook his head and smiled.

“It’s no bother.” He said. He gently ushered you towards the entrance and the two of you walked through. It was an understatement to say that you were nervous to greet the cheering fans that stood by the barriers with things to sign. But knowing that Logan was right next you signing things as well and taking pictures with fans made you less nervous. You even got to take some pictures with him and fans as well.

“If I wore all these friendship bracelets in the car, I think I would add an extra pound.” You joked as the two of you walked past the various team garages.

“Soon you’re gonna end up having a full storage closet at your house just full of stuff that fans have given you.” Logan said. You smiled at that idea.

“Hopefully I won’t develop carpal tunnel from all the stuff I’m gonna have to sign over the year.” Good thing being a Formula 1 driver consists more of driving cars than signing things.”

“You say that now, but just wait until the RB merchandise team sits you down in a room filled with driver cards you have to sign. Your wrist is going to be so sore afterwards.” Logan said. You let out a chuckle.

“(Y/N)!” You turned to see Yuki, coming from the RB hospitality, running over to the two of you. “(Y/N), I’m so sorry. They put me in the press conference at the last minute. I had to come early.” Yuki explained.

“It’s ok Yuki. Logan walked in with me.” You said. You turned back to Logan. “Thank you, by the way. I should probably go see my team.”

“Like I said, it was no bother. I’d be happy to walk the paddock with you anytime.” He said. “I’ll see you two on the track.”

He waved goodbye and then headed to the William’s garage as you headed with Yuki back to the RB hospitality to get ready for the upcoming practice sessions.

“Ok (Y/N). We’ve been knocked out of Q1. You are P17.” Your race engineer said through the radio as the qualifying session ended and you slowed your car down for a cool down lap.

“Not the result I had hoped for, but it’s something I can improve upon. Did Yuki make it to Q2?” You asked, making your way into the pit lane.

“Yes, Yuki did make it into Q2.” Your engineer said.

“That’s good. Hope he can make it into Q3.” You pulled into your designated pitlane and flipped up your visor to let some air into your helmet as the pit crew pulled your car into the garage.

After changing out of your race suit and fireproofs, you put on a pair of headphones and joined the crew in watching Q2. You were happy to see that Logan made it into Q2 as well, and was secretly hoping he would make it into Q3 along with Yuki. Both of them did good laps during Q2 but Yuki unfortunately was only able to place P11. Logan barely managed to get by into Q3, but couldn’t place any higher and ended up in front of your teammate, placing P10 for tomorrow’s race. After congratulating Yuki on his placement, you left the RB garage to go look for Logan to do the same thing. You didn’t have to look far, as the American driver was exiting the William’s garage as you approached.

“Hey, nice driving today!” You said, giving Logan’s shoulder a congratulatory pat.

“Thanks. I’m shocked I was able to make it into Q3. I thought I was going to get knocked out in Q2, I didn’t expect Lance to get his lap time deleted.” Logan said. “Where’d you place?”

“P17. I wasn’t able to gain enough speed on my last lap to get myself to a higher placement.” You said. “But that’s ok. I just need to overtake the 7 cars in front of me to get to P10 and get into the points. How hard can that be?”

You laughed, your last sentence meaning to be a joke. Logan let out a small chuckle, but he was taking what you said seriously.

“I think you can do it. But only do it after I’ve overtaken a couple cars myself. I’d also like to get some points during the race.” He said.

“Deal!”

It was officially race day and your nerves seemed to be bouncing as fast as the cars that would be on track soon. You had felt confident throughout the week, being on the track and going over data with the team. But with the race starting in a couple hours, the fact that you were about to debut in your first Formula One race was starting to become very real.

“You squeeze that water bottle any tighter, it’s gonna explode.” You were brought out of your spiraling thoughts by Logan as he approached you from the side. Looking down, you did see that the water bottle you were holding was almost ready to burst from the steel grip you had on it.

“Sorry, I’m just thinking about the race today.” You said, loosening your grip on the bottle.

In a similar scenario to pre-season testing, the two of you were waiting to start the drivers parade.

“It’s ok to be nervous about your first race. Every driver is.” He said.

“What if I crash the car?” You asked. Logan shook his head.

“You won’t.”

“What if I can’t overtake any cars and finish last?”

“You won’t finish last.”

“What if-”

“Hey.” Logan placed his hands on your shoulders and made you look at him. “You’re going to be fine. You drove well during testing and practice. You can overtake the cars in front of you. And even if you finish last, so what? It’s your first race. You’re going to make mistakes and that’s ok.” Logan said. His hands on your shoulder and the speech he just gave you seemed to steel your nervous a bit as you took in what he said.

“Just try to have fun. Can you promise me that?” Logan asked. He held up his pinkie and you almost laughed at the childlike implications. But the serious look on Logan’s face stopped you. You linked your pinkie with his and nodded.

“I promise.”

The two of you ended up staying next to each other during the drivers parade, waving to fans as the truck drove by. Interviews were also happening during the parade, and with you being the new rookie, you had to be interviewed.

“So (Y/N), you're about to make your Formula 1 debut in your first Formula 1 race. How are you feeling?” The interviewer asked.

“I’m both very nervous and very excited. I’m starting at the back of the grid, but I’m gonna try to do my best.” You said.

“I know, with being the newest addition to the grid, you may feel like you stand out. Besides your teammate Yuki, have there been any other drivers that you’ve gotten to know during pre-season testing or this weekend?”.

“Logan actually introduced himself to me during pre-season testing and we’ve gotten to know each other a bit.” You told the interviewer. “It feels a bit intimidating being surrounded by these great drivers that I’ve always hoped to have a chance to drive alongside, so I’m really grateful to Logan for being someone on the grid that I can talk to and get to know, besides Yuki of course.”

“Have you guys talked about anything in particular? Any expectations for your first race?”

“Logan actually gave me a really good pep talk before the drivers parade. It really helped calm my nerves down a bit. I’m gonna take Logan’s advice and try to have fun.” You said with a smile. The interviewer thanked you for your time and moved on to interview a different driver as you made your way back over to Logan. After waving to a bunch of fans, the parade concluded and you and the rest of the drivers got off the truck.

“What are you going to do during this race?” Logan asked you before the two of you departed to get ready for the race.

“Have fun!” You said.

“That’s right.” He gave your shoulder a reassuring pat and left for the William’s garage while you headed back to RB, your nerves seemingly having lessened.

Logan’s pep talk seemed to be exactly what you needed. You ended up finishing the race in P11, just out of the points but only two spots behind Yuki.

“(Y/N) that was a fantastic first race! Well done!” Your engineer's voice came through the radio as you waved while driving around the track.

“Oh my god! Thank you so much! That was so much fun! I couldn’t have done it without you or the team!” You said enthusiastically as you pulled into parc ferme. You sat in the car for a couple seconds, taking in the feeling of making it through your first Formula One race. Then, you took the wheel out and stepped out of the car.

Some of the pit crew workers gave you pats on the back or the shoulder, congratulating you on making it through your first race. As your eyes scanned the pit lane, looking for your team, they landed on the familiar America-decorated helmet of Logan.

“Logan!” You called as you jogged over to him. His eyes lit up at your approach and met you halfway.

“Nice one champ! P11 on debut!” He said, raising his hand for a high five before bringing you in for a brief congratulatory hug.

“I was so close to getting into points but I couldn’t catch up. You drove amazingly though! Congrats on P5!” You told him.

“Hey, don’t put yourself down for being “just” out of the points. Next race, you and I are going to be in the top 10.” He said. “Did you have fun?”

“Yea!” You exclaimed. Both your smiles seemed to grow.

“I told you! Come on, let’s go get weighed and you can tell me everything about the race.” Logan slung his arm over your shoulder as he led you over to the weigh stations.

The two of you spent the rest of the night recounting each of your guys' events of the race, every overtake and every mistake either of you made. Eventually exhaustion started to hit both of you and the two of you decided to head back to your hotel rooms.

“Thank you.” You said to Logan as you stood infront of your room after Logan offered to walk you back.

“For what?” He asked.

“For introducing yourself to me during pre-season testing. I honestly didn’t think I would be able to get to know anyone on the grid this season. All the other drivers seem to know each other really well or are just really intimidating.” You said, fidgeting with your fingers for a bit before looking back up at him “But I’m really glad to say that you're the first friend I’ve made on the grid.”

Logan’s smile seemed to lower and you grew concerned. But he noticed this and quickly change his expression to reassurance.

“I know how hard it is to make friends in this sport and I also know how isolating it can be. I didn’t want what happened in my rookie season to happen to you.” He told you. “I’m glad that you’re my friend too.”

You smiled, touched by what he said and happy that he considered you a friend as well. You held up your pinkie towards him.

“Promise that we’ll both be in the points next race?”

He linked your pinkie with his and matched your smile.

“I promise.”

charlies reaction to the sf-24 has been positive but like.. hesitant (if that’s the right word) like he’s trying to manage expectations which i appreciate but im also crazy delusional so the fact that he’s been so smiley is telling me we have a championship winning car 😍😍

seems like he knows people are really waiting on his reaction to see if they can be hopeful or ready for another year of struggling.

i mean, let's remember his unmasked reaction from last year's testing, man was PISSED

so yeah, to me it seems that he has better feeling of the car, but there's also a question of how it will work with different tyres, within race pace, or how it's gonna be fast compared to other cars (still, there may be a possibility of another team going completely wild and building a rocketship, you never know. and rb is still dominating as of now)

however, him being more comfortable already is a good sign, i guess he just doesn't want to jinx it until he gets more data to analyse.

sf23's issue was mainly its unpredictability and how hard it was to drive (remember when robert, ferrari's reserve driver, was absolutely bamboozled when he tried the car for the first time because it was so rough to drive and couldn't believe charles and carlos drive like this the whole season? lol yeah)

so, as we know, once charles becomes more confident with a car, he can do wonders with it and today's quotes don't seem to showcase any disappointed in that area, so i am hopeful!

he also started talking about victories again so that's a change compared to his previous statements!

Honestly though, Charles saying the same thing as Max on the radio might actually be something RB cares about.

The main issue RB has had with their other drivers next to Max is that they are too different and therefore it's hard to have a cohesive team. The second driver either doesn't like the same type of car Max does, or has different feedback, or many other things we may not be aware of, which makes it hard to develop the car in the same direction, or develop race strategy and make strategy calls on the fly in a race.

RB knows by now that Charles likes a similar car to Max, and by constantly listening to his radio they've probably also concluded that Charles reads races and strategy calls in a similar way that Max does. And I just went back to listen to GP's comment, he sounded almost like he had a surprised laugh, like "haha what a coincidence, you won't believe it but Charles just said the exact same thing!"

I actually think this is very valuable to a team. You see how many other teams have to reason with one driver or another regarding strategy because they disagree. Or one driver is more comfortable on one tyre vs the other and it's hard to use both sets of feedback or data. If RB had a second driver like Charles who could handle Max's car and reads a race the exact same way, literally down to radioing it in the exact same second, this makes it way easier to manage the team and a race.

And we all know RB are ruthless in their pursuit for perfection in all areas. They are hunting for the closest they can get to a Max clone at this point, and Charles is pretty much it.

Oh, the timing of Charles’ radio being right before Max’s radio is super interesting! And it really does cement exactly this point. Charles is insanely fast, RBR is aware of it and has praised it publicly and often, so he’s a good driver to study for that — but he’s an especially good driver to study because he’s insanely fast and likes the same type of car. Your reasoning aligns with my thinking about why Charles may be the only driver on the grid right now who could take the RBR seat and have it work out really well.

It reminds me somewhat of that one radio of Charles’ where he was asking to have Max’s onboard ready to see before the audio cut out. I can’t think of what race it was now, but I want to say it was between a Q2 and Q3 or when he was coming in between sessions. I remember him saying something about how he couldn’t quite figure out a certain corner/sector.

So we know Charles watches Max’s onboards when he needs to, too. Because he knows they have a similar style; because they’ve been learning from one another their whole careers practically. I don’t think you could get a better aligned pairing on the grid, honestly.

ok but that “hey” vid from Max/GP that you reposted has me in my feels. I love sweet angel Max and his softness but I also love absolute brat Max and I feel like we haven’t spoken about him in a bit.

Any thoughts on that? Preferably no nonsense GP reeling him back in?

GP should have known it would be a challenging day when Daniel sheepishly handed Max over at the RB garage today.

Max’s brows furrowed in a stroppy frown, Daniel pushing an overfilled bag into GP’s arms. “Leo’s in there too.” Daniel offers, shoots GP his trademark grin before pressing two quick kisses to Max’s head.

“Be a good boy. Make good choices. I love you.” Daniel says, unaffected by Max squirming away from the kisses and pressing a final one to his nose for good measure.

“Short night, didn’t finish his breakfast. Good luck today. Sorry we’re late.” He adds before he’s rushing out the garage.

A mechanical failure before FP2 doesn’t help, especially when it means Max can’t partake in the session leaving him even more grumpy.

He’s stomping around in little socked feet, tight shoes already kicked off and discarded somewhere while he’s distracting the engineers. GP’s trying to keep an eye on him, while simultaneously getting as much data from their only other running car. He quickly realizes that’s not going to be working and excuses himself to go deal with Max.

“Let’s go.” GP says, startling Max as he puts a hand on his shoulder, earning himself a sour pout.

“Where?”

“To your room, we can have a bit of quiet time.”

The pouts sours even more. “No nap!”

GP suppresses a sigh, he’d specifically avoided the word nap even though he knows there’s nothing more Max would benefit from right now than said nap, however convincing the little of that would be more difficult.

“Come on,” GP says hand going from Max’s shoulder to his bicep to move him along so they can move the somewhat imminent tantrum somewhere more private. “Let’s go find Leo.”

Max tries to dig his heels in, but the socked feet leave little to no grip as GP’s pulling him out into the hallway, starts sputtering his protests while trying to pluck GP’s fingers off his arm, pinching GP’s hand. “No! No no no no.”

“Max,” GP warns, unfaltering in his pace but turning to look at Max briefly. “Stop that, please.”

Unfortunately, Max’s drivers room is locked, GP has a key for emergencies but taking his hand off of Max proves to be a mistake when the younger takes that opportunity to bolt.

“Max!” GP groans, unlocking the door before taking off after his little escape artist, once again helped by Max’s socked feet and a clearly regressed Max unable to navigate their slipperiness.

Max goes up and over his shoulder despite the protest that start up the second GP gets his hands on him and the engineer cringers inwardly at the scene that’s creating, making quick work of getting them into the private room, praying for semi sound proof walls.

The squirming boy over his shoulder gets put down in front of him and GP gently puts his hands on both of Max’s shoulders to keep him in place. “GP’s gonna give you two options. Either you sit your bum down on the couch or you’ll sit your bum down facing the wall if you need to calm down some more. Which one, buddy?”

“You can’t put my bum anywhere!” Max argues back, jaw set and square, defiance written over his face just like when he doesn’t get his way.

GP raises his eyebrows, unimpressed expression taking over his face as he watches Max’s expression change. Max calls it his “uh-oh face” which would be cute (it is) if it weren’t that GP’s uh oh face only comes out when Max is pushing his luck.

“Couch.” Max whines when GP’s expression doesn’t change and GP lets go of his shoulders so Max can stomp his way over to the couch.

GP takes a breath before he goes for the overstuffed backpack, barely getting the zipper open before he’s emptying its contents, eyes landing on a fruit pouch.

“Do you want a snack?” GP asks, holding out the pouch, watching Max reach out for it and feeling content he seems to have found something that isn’t answered with protest.

The contentment lasts mere seconds when Max takes a closer look at the pouch and throws it to the other side of the room. “Yuck.”

“Max Emilian.” GP scolds, getting back up and grabbing Max’s arm, getting the younger up and off the couch before marching him right up to the thrown pouch. “Pick that up.”

Max’s eyes are quickly filling with tears, reaching down to pick it back up and holding it out to GP as he bites back a sob.

“That’s a better decision, buddy.” GP soothes, taking the pouch from Max before walking him over to the discarded back, starting to pull Max’s arms out of the sleeves of the race suit Max still has on.

“Noooo.” That pulls the first sob from the younger, dejectedly allowing GP to move both of his arms out of the uncomfortable material.

GP knows Max knows this is the first step for nap time, but he needs to get through these steps as quickly as possible to be able to get the little guy some comfort.

“I know, bud.” GP soothes, pushing the suit down his hips and helping him step out of it. “That’s a good boy, look at you.”

Despite the praise it earns him another sob, and with the suit off of Max’s body GP reaches for the joggers Daniel’s packed, pulling out Leo with it and offering him to Max.

The plush gets snatched up and Max’s buries his wet face into it while GP gently lifts Max’s feet one at a time before pulling them up over his bum before snatching a blanket up and moving both him and Max over to the couch.

Luckily Max goes easier than before, GP cradling Max into his lap sideways while his legs curl up partially onto the couch, struggling for space as his thumb finds his mouth and he tries fitting himself and Leo into GP’s chest.

GP drapes the blanket over Max, wrapping his arms around him and gently shushing the audibly upset little, pressing a soft kiss to Max’s head. “That’s it. You’re ok. Where’s my good boy, hm?”

It’s a minute or two before Max’s breathing calms down and the tears lessen, exhaustion clear on his face when he looks up at GP. “I’m sorry.”

“I know,” GP soothes, brushing at Max’s cheeks. “Thank you for apologizing. You’re ok.”

It lessens some left over tension in Max’s shoulders as he buries back into GP’s chest, the elder gently patting Max’s hair. “Nap doesn’t sound too bad now, does it?”

Max shakes his head, squeezing himself closer patting at GP’s chest. “Love.”

GP lets out a soft sigh, squeezing back. “Love you too.”

I think that people are more mad about how the mentality isn’t there. Because to be the best, you have to think that you’re the best and be willing to go up against the best.

There’s so many examples of drivers going up against the best, thinking they’re the best, etc.

Charles going to Ferrari to team up with Sebastian after only 1 year in F1. George taking on the task of being Lewis’ teammate. Lewis coming in and showing up Fernando in 2007.

And in my opinion the more relevant example: Daniel going to RB in 2014 when Sebastian was one of their first junior drivers to make it to the main team and get them their first wins for both teams, first wdc, first wcc, and all that. Despite being from the junior program as well, the team was Sebastian’s at that point because he’d won them 4 consecutive titles. But Daniel went in there and showed up Sebastian. If you’re good enough or fast enough, RB will back you (just look at Sebastian taking control from Mark Webber).

All of these drivers took the risk of teaming up with world champions much earlier into their careers and were confident in their own abilities.

You have to be somewhat delusional about your own abilities because why else are you there if you don’t think that you can beat the other 19 drivers.

To be fair though, Lando didn’t say he didn’t want to go against Max. He just said he wanted to battle Max in a McLaren, not a Red Bull. Now, I don’t think Lando’s mentality is there in general, but what he said there isn’t the reason. He’s right that moving from a team where you are comfortable, prioritised, and where you have the loyalty of those around you, to a team that is loyal to the other driver, who also happens to be one of the greatest drivers ever…is a brain dead move. It’s not the same for someone like George, or Carlos, they have nothing to lose because even if their teams have a championship car they won’t be the champion, but Lando would be at McLaren. And he never would be at Red Bull.

The difference to me with Charles, Lewis, etc., is that they were still on the rise. They were still looking to make that in-road to a top team where they could get comfortable. Charles wasn’t going to get comfortable and stay at Sauber. Lewis didn’t really have a choice to go anywhere but McLaren. Those were upward moves for them, that happened to be alongside champions and they proved themselves. Lando going from a team that he thinks has championship potential and prioritises him, to a winning team that will not support him right away wouldn’t even be a lateral move, it would be a step down imo.

And yes, RB will back the fastest driver, but that won’t happen in one or two races. Lando would have to convincingly beat Max over a whole season for him to even approach equal footing. Lando doesn’t have a season to waste getting the team to believe in him, especially when he has a team that already does.

I think the other drivers were going for the best opportunity for them, they weren’t chasing a fight with the world champions, it came to them because of the team they were in. For Lando to go to RB would be chasing a fight he doesn’t need, with the odds stacked against him. I don’t think it’s a weak mentality to acknowledge that and say, better the devil you know.

BUT. I do also agree that Lando knows he wouldn’t beat Max over a season regardless of what team he was in. Because Lando can read a data sheet, he knows who didn’t make mistakes and he knows he did. I also think he knows Max is a better driver. I do think he is nowhere near tough enough for a title fight, but I don’t think this instance is what showed that.

So, pre-season testing over, let’s talk numbers. Specifically, comparing the numbers of the past 3 days. (This is just by looking at the time sheets, and some stuff I found on twitter these past couple of days, and I will be doing a full analysis as much as I could after subscribing to F1 TV as I want to be able to look at all the data, the telemetry, tyre deg, etc)

Day 1 saw Max topping the board with 1:31:344, followed by Lando with 1:32:484 and Carlos 1:32:584, on that day, Charles was 1:33:247. To look at this, Max was the best during day 1. And let’s not forget the fact that Max was in C3, kind of used, they were not fresh tyres when he went on this run, and he was on a considerably high fuel load, almost as much fuel as a full race. In addition to the fact that this was day 1, on a track that is known for its high temps, and its improvements as time pass. Charles was not able to pull times as Max or Lando or Carlos because he was in the morning run, aka the worst run of the track, as the weather was very war (track temp being around 38) and the track was literally being used for the first time in a while.

Day 2 saw Carlos topping the timesheet with a 1:29:921, while Checo was on 1:30:679 followed by Lewis who pulled a 1:31:066, while Charles pulled a 1:31:750. Again, Charles went in the AM session, temps are high, track is only getting better. And let’s bot overlook the fact that Carlos pulled the 1:29 on C5 tyres, Charles didn’t use any softs yesterday.

Finally day 3, which saw Charles at the top if the time sheet with 1:30:322, followed by George who managed a 1:30:368, followed by Zhou, who got a 1:30:647 and then Max with a 1:30:755. This was in the best track conditions, but the times by Charles, George and Zhou are not indicators for next week, and we can’t consider them for the first race next Saturday. The reason is that Charles, George and Zhou were on C4 tyres, softs in testing, but nit Bahrain’s softs. The tyre compounds used in Bahrain are C1, C2 and C3. Which means that Max only used the tyres to be used on a GP weekend, and he topped the timesheet today with these tyres, pulling the fastest time with them, and only being 4th while the top 3 are using softer, faster, newer and grippier tyres.

Now from these, we can conclude a couple of things: 1. Red Bull are apparently very very very tyre friendly. I mean, from that Twitter screenshots earlier were showing the tyre deg and the fact Max improved his time as he used the tyres (or could just be he’s insane, which he is) 2. The Ferrari is good, better than last year that is for sure, and the fact that they were among the top in most sessions, impressive work from the Scuderia who hopefully are able to do good this year, and don’t fuck up in other areas if the car is as good as it looks. 3. Mercedes are worrying, not being able to top the timesheet at any session, and the drivers from other teams are able to pull better times on same tyre compounds, and Lewis even went on C5 today, yet Checo and Carlos beat him by quiet a bit?! 4. McLaren were very omnious, like the car looks good and is pulling good timings, but Idk, the fact that they only topped one timesheet, despite lando and oscar being two very good drivers, Idk. 5. ZAK BROWN YOU SHOULD BE SCARED, RB ARE COMING FOR YOU (no more context the RB looks good and Yuki and Daniel were extremely impressive) and 6. Adrian Newey is the GOAT nothing to add your honor.

Of course this is just by watching some of the testing (I watched all day 1, about 3/4 of day 3 and none of day 2) and this is just by timesheets and twitter. I’ll still try to analyse the data further (trying to work in F1 as an engineer and I’m hoping to convince the teams with any of that) and of course, race week is just around the corner, so We Shall See……

daniels also #confirmed securing millions into the team and also has been credited by the whole team for improving the car massively and giving the engineers a direction to take the car. Alpha tauri getting faster once daniel joined wasn’t a coincidence. hmmmhm. yessss, all very interesting parts of the puzzle, i feel. even from a more general point of view like, what makes a driver worthy of keeping around in what team. it's an interesting question with any driver on any team! and what's the stuff they're looking at behind the scenes, you know? obviously the general public bases most of their opinions on what happens on track but when you think about all the data available to the team (and not just like, racing wise, but also money wise, pr wise, etc) that we just don't know about... also, and this is maybe controversial yet brave but fuck it, last time daniel left red bull, they still hadn't properly filled that hole by the time he came back. like they figured it out for red bull, but that second seat at toro rosso/alpha tauri/vcarb was still a mess, when ndv showed up. they just couldn't make anyone stick. plus, you can tell drivers are hesitant to sign with the red bull org for a bunch of different reasons too. albon and gasly both sound lowkey traumatized and espesh gasly i feel burned a lot of bridges and albon doesn't seem keen to come back at all. plus, a bunch of people just do not want to be in the seat next to max. i hope for yuki that he gets picked up by a better team since he's never going to be allowed in that red bull seat and he deserves better. so while right now it seems there's too few seats for too many drivers within the rb club, things may look completely different when more drivers start signing contracts and they may, again, be left with unfilled seats. i can't imagine that not playing a big part as well.

Someone need an ego check. And that team need to wake up.

It’s his third year and the third year he is slower than Charles. The team knows, everyone knows. Data don’t lie. Why still pretend ? Is it because he had more points in 2021 ? He has more now yet everyone can see he does not perform ? Are we saying that car is shittier than Mercedes ? Again data says otherwise. Mercedes just have a better duo right now (and Lewis is struggling, but a struggling 7 time WDC is still an amazing driver). I can hear that AM is a slightly better car but again, drivers … There is a fight to have.

If they are using this year to prepare 2024 they need to get on top of everything and that includes hurting Carlos feelings when necessary.

At this point I am really becoming Charles fan first Ferrari second. But that’s team putting Ferrari high because I think Charles is the only one fighting for a team result … he will still shut up publicly, keep his head down, race like crazy. And he will be the one to take all the blame, whose talent is going to be questioned (only by shitty media and Twitter twats because the pros, they KNOW).

That first stint was so great, and yet here we are so angry again after another wasted race.

I would take P7 if we at least TRIED. But we half the race cursing in our own little championship it was ridiculous. That team really forgot we are competing here. Same as last year. And the year before. And …

I'm still not over last year. And they stab me in the back again again and again. They have to choose (they have to fire sainz and xavi asap, sorry).

Charles is Ferrari. The only Ferrari energy in Ferrari is Charles. But at some point I really want them to lose him. Because it's..no words really. I love the loyalty in him and I know that I will be happy if he stays after 2024, but at this point they don't deserve him аnd do nothing to change it.

Sometimes I seriously think that 2nd seat at RB isn't that bad alternative, like what the point of everything if Ferrari actually treat him as 2nd driver just to save the ego of the real second driver. Second driver in RB at least can win race here and there, you know. (I hate myself for this thoughts, but I can't anymore, I just can't)

Not to be a chirlie apologist but if you listen to the interviews (especially Italian ones) the team and Carlos do say that they've been working for months to adapt the car to him. I don't remember if it was in Monza or Singapore but Charles said the car has too much understeer now. More understeer is what Carlos prefers. If they've been working to adapt the car to him, of course that penalizes Charles a little bit. Ferrari can't produce two completely different cars, they have to be similar. They can change the set up a little bit, and they do so to adapt the car to every different circuit, but they can't produce two completely different car structures. So when the drivers have different driving styles, one of them gets penalized. In the beginning of the season it was Carlos (by his own admission, he couldn't find his footing with the car, and ended up off track while Charles flew by). So the team started working hard to suit the car to him. Charles's performance declined a bit because of that, but he's a very adaptable driver so at the end of the day wasn't penalized too much. The real problem is that after the break, with the new upgraded parts, the car started eating the tyres like never before. That decline coincided with Ferrari saying they've been working to help Carlos, so now in people's minds the cars' poor performance comprared to RB is because of him. Let's be honest the fact that Leclerc can keep up with the Red Bulls and even keep Perez behind (while he gained 1 second per lap!) is pretty incredible. I don't know what Ferrari have done to that car but it's a pity. I used to hope that once they fixed the engine reliability, it would all be all right...

hi! ok let's talk about it.

i'm no f1 engineer(!), but what i understand from reading all i could about what goes on with designing a car and upgrading it, what i have been explained from people who know a lot more about the technicalities than i do, and also what i can gather from my memory which luckily is still pretty unbiased is that:

1) when designing a f1 car the engineering teams devise a "philosophy" behind it: they're purposefully building a car with certain features, already theorizing how it will perform and which problems could arise and could be improved, mainly on sims. then, when they gather actual data from testing and races the work on upgrades can develop with back and forth between the factory and the team on track. the upgrades should improve the original idea, following its flow, which is a lot more complicated than it sounds, since every change they bring must not break what already works, and instead has to strengthen their weaker features. and since it already is a delicate job, do you see them scratching all of their knowledge of the car and their data just to go on another direction? when the car was already performing very well? they literally waited for the 6th race to finally bring some upgrades just because they wanted to gather as much data as possible and be sure they understood the car!!

2) (for this point i will quote parts of this italian article that sums up the upgrades on the f1-75 from barcelona till singapore) the thing is that ever since monza everyone kinda forgot that the upgrades ferrari brought worked... pretty well, actually? the first set where mainly about fixing porpoising and then aerodynamics, since the deficit with straightline speed was the main issue. and this is what they will keep working on for the entire season, changing floors to get more groundforce and (a lot of) rearwings to try and get at rbr's drs speed. and they hardly lost anything performance wise. instead i'd say these were the races where the f1-75 and the rb18 fought more closely, with the ferrari often being quicker. and, coincidence, these are also the weekends where carlos gets closer to charles.

3) “At first it comes from Carlos’ ability to analyse what the car does and what he needs from it,” said Mekies. “And then not only is he able to feel it, but he’s able to communicate it to the engineers and slowly we have been able to transform that into actions in terms of the way we set up the car, and in terms of the way that perhaps we tweak some of the developments and that’s how it happened." (MEKIES EXPANDS ON WHAT HAS CHANGED FOR SAINZ FOR HIS IMPROVEMENTS)

This interview dates 11.08.2022, a week into summer break, the last gp being hungary, where charles' p1 was (again) lost due to a strategy blunder. But not due the car's lack of performance.

up to then, the f1-75 was very much keeping up with the rb18. the difference was that carlos was also closing up to the top. he's been pretty quick since monaco, and in very good form in montreal, silverstone, austria and france. and charles' performance was still as great as ever when compared to the rivals, so no sign there to the growth being due to updates made just for carlos' benefit (tweaking is the key word). he could have benefitted from them but it's not like they made them just for him. the car got faster. and carlos finally got comfortable driving it, due to more practice but most importantly the job on the set-up and simulations (we also know that charles helped him as well, and they often exchanged notes and worked together).

a week ago i think(?) came out an italian interview with charles who, when asked where carlos is better than him, answered "the set-up on the car, and working on the sim" which was kinda ... met with laughz from the chirlies. which is what made me a little mean and prompted my lil post calling them out for not understanding cars. lmao. i'll just say, if you don't get how important the set-up is, i'll just remind you how it ended for charles in france for getting it wrong. there isn't a trace of mockery in charles' answer because knowing how to improve your car's performance is a critical ability for every single racing drivers, and it is very well known that it has always been one of carlos' strength. he studied, he trained, he conferred with his engineers, he got better. no mistery.

(also, i'll add my unpopular opinion here which is that...... carlos wasn't doing like, catastrophically badly like everyone made it look like. until monaco he only got 1 dnf out of his own fault, and his lowest result was a p4. he made mistakes and wasn't doing as good as charles, but that was far from a performance that needed an intervention from the engineers to "build the car around him." at least that's my opinion.)

4) now let's talk about beloved f1-75 flopping. what happened? summer break, then spa and! TD39. we already knew that spa (and monza) would be hard since the circuit didn't fit with the f1-75 main strengths. but zandvoort should have been easier to take, but still it wasn't. at all. ferrari came back from the summer with a BIG problem with tyre deg (which is actually something they've struggled with the entire season, on a more manageable scale) which could or could not be a result of the TD39. according to binotto, it's not that, but it's simply that redbull made more upgrades, so they've gained more while we stayed at the same point as before (since we're still ahead of every other team). i have an opinion on that which is...... that i don't agree with it lmao. but if i expanded on that it would lead on the theorical more than the factual, so i'll leave my opinion to myself. we also know that from singapore onwards they've been testing upgrades for the 2023 season, so i think that some of the loss of comfort is also due to that. (both of them said that it's a lot trickier to drive since the summer break)

5) last point which is a question to YOU but... i don't get what do you mean when you say that charles' performance declined because... i think i must have missed that?

Digimon (Mainly Xros Wars sorry) headcanons/aus that I keep thinking from 2013 to now, that probably should post it online and then kept inside cause I was scared of the fandom back then lol

So.. how I am going to start this

Also, please don't give fandom hate in my replies/rb, I don't care if a media has a lot of flaws but there are some people who enjoy it so be respectful

Let's go with this first cause my head screaming for Legends crossover ever since I read a fanfic of Daisuke/Davis as Takuya's cousin and screamed about @/digitalgate02 blog about the Legends au (actually I still screamed about this for years ever since the crossover episode but at the time, only popular crossover fanfic with all Digimon characters was kinda disappointing and kinda not like characters at all, let say Taichi character on that fanfic is a dick, actually most of them are assholes that my younger self patient to wait a few years to see there new content but still less but hey, at least there new good fanfics)

Btw you can scream about shipping hcs I don't mind, I kinda still ship Kiritai but not much as my 9 years old did, however, please block me if you ship minors characters with adult characters

Xros Over with The Legends with new legends heroes (the legend heroes adult/teens here cause Xros Wars timeline is 2013 ish idk) :

The Legends is very worried about Taiki cause Taiki ain't hiding he is traumatized and feels about to snap, he even smiles about it like that not a big deal to him

Taiki will need to be dragged by other Legends cause that boy helping people non stop that he forgot his self-care

The Legends want Taiki to give therapy but Taiki always refused, but..

"Taiki-san, you need therapy.. what do you mean you didn't deserve to have a dream cause it's selfish???" (Taichi, Daisuke, etc)

"I don't need therapy besides a therapist probably can't deal with our adventures.." Taiki reminded them that no one would understand Digital World problems

4. Once in a while, they would have a soccer match after ending an evil world ending Digimon for relaxing, let's say Taiki is so athletic and flexible he becomes Messi

5. Masaru can take care of Taiki even though he is bad at food related, if they lived in Digital World for a while, he would give Taiki poison berries cause he thinks it's food as long you can eat it. Shoutmon will in despair again and just shouted at them to live in his kingdom before Taiki eat that berries

6. Daisuke, Taiki, and Takato only ones that can cook properly but with Taiki low self-care, it's just two of them can handle it

7. Ever since Taiki can hear digimelody, Taiki can hear and talk to Digispirits and eventually became Agnimon gossip listener, more like a rant about Takuya being an idiot

8. They acknowledged that Taiki is smarter than them in strategizing but still wonder why he so bad at keeping his well-being

9. They really need to get used to Taiki passing out shenanigans cause they keep getting a heart attack

10. They wonder if they were a family, so they vote Taichi is the tired dad lmao

11. One time when they get asked most dangerous they did, Taiki answered to them that he almost die, why? Cause to escape a kingdom was needing Taiki's death data

All the legends atp want to pass out cause this kid is more self-sacrificial and have no fear of death

12. Taiki sometimes rambles to them about Kamen Rider all the time, he talk non stop about Shoutaro from Kamen Rider W and Takeru from Kamen Rider Ghost (Geez is that where Taiki learn recklessness from- /hj)

Xros Wars & Hunters :

Xros Heart Team is a pseudo-family, Taiki the Mom, Kiriha The Dad, Nene the Mom while Yuu the Child

Taiki is spoils Tagiru a lot even though he is a mentor because he see him as little brother too

Taiki kinda seen him in Tagiru after he knows that Tagiru risk his safety for his friends, he want to tell him that his safety also important but he feel hypocrite about himself so he decided to not tell him about it

If Akari can't take care Taiki for a while, Kiriha would go Taiki house with a private jet even though he was in America for a meeting but knowing Taiki, he knows he need to go there fast, he would barge in kicking his door and dragged him to eat and drink water

Tagiru secretly blame himself and think he is stupid because he think if he smarter enough, Taiki couldnt get hurt by Quartzmon, and he has secretly inferiority complex, that why he want to surpass Taiki. he see Taiki as a rival role model, multi talented kid he never become, once he do this with other kid when he was younger but people thought he an attention seeker child and have few friends, he cherished those friends that he risk his safety for them so he feel useful for them

Yuu realized Tagiru problems with his lack of safety that...

"Tagiru, I don't care, I will drag you down to Therapy center if that the last thing i do, i have money from Nee-san so you don't worry about the pay"

7. Taiki can't mad mad, he doesn't want to be mad so every time he feel angry that he start to cry

8. Kiriha secretly loves to spoils Xros Heart Team with expensive gifts

9. Taiki learn to give someone speech of friendship /hj and punch them from his hospitalized friend

10. Tagiru sometimes feel like doesn't deserve Taiki's goggles

11. Ever since Taiki can hear digimelody, he can play music pretty well, just not singing

Now to the AUs, i currently have one, this one that keep me brainstorming so much that went into my dream,

this journey take a lot of patience cause fixing and guiding digidestined kids is hard when most of the time, they keep discreet

This aus have timeloop too so when they fail, the timeline reset and start all over again

Because they doesn't want to get recognized, they act discreet and act like a villain more like anti-villain/hero that help/guiding everyone little by little, at first they doesn't want this but after making huge progress with little time, the karma bit their backs and got worst ending so they know they need to stay away as possible and guide them not too much.

When they got caught, they used their fake name like Tagiru is Tsukasa, a reference to Tsukasa Kadoya from Kamen Rider Decade that a lot of dimension think he a villain and Tsukasa force being a villain for the sake of protecting the dimensions. He knows this when Taiki rambles about Kamen rider

while Shinya choose Kyousuke, a reference of Tsurugi Kyousuke, a character of Inazuma eleven, that once a villain but he become one cause he can pay his brother medical surgery etc, in nutshell, want to save his brother

Taiki situation is the same as Emu Hojo in the novel, inspired from that but Taiki situation realizing if he doesn't have a dream so he didn't need a college cause he think so selfish of him doing college even though he blessed being a child-prodigy so he think his life is selfish and become diasosiative state and yknow try to d word himself

While Emu in that novel is a young kid that rough life, have a absent parent that didn't care about him, make himself clumsy so he can go to clinic for affection, attention cause he never got that from his father, eat frozen food cause he don't know how to make food then play video games, he thought his life is a like game so he think if he died, he can game restart and he did by crossing a road even though the red light still on and a car crash into him, luckily he survived but he forgot why he did it in the first place

After Tagiru became a Timeline Fixer, he suddenly more edgelord lmao but he still himself with more michevious side, basically like Kafka

Shinya somewhat a walking Informant so he can remind Tagiru the script of how its going to happen

The Timeline now a mess and the evil digimons that never seen before appear and not supposed to appear in the core timeline, and need to get rid of it by Timeline Fixers cause the digimons may cause harm to the timeline

Timeline Fixers came before Digidestined children started their hourney watched them far away so they know if there gone wrong or not

Tagiru and Shinya may be same age as before they take their journey as timeline fixers but mentally, they aged A LOT

Their digivice upgraded so much that look like a phone but still has D-Tector or Xros Loader functions with few edition which is can summon a weapon anything so they can fight with digimon partner, their weapons can be more damage if they bond with their digimon partner in sync so well

Tagiru's weapon is a scythe, when he and Arresterdramon in sync, the scythe give Tagiru Ability to sprint fast and past through living being like a ghost.

Shinya's weapon is Earth like knuckles fantasy weapon that help him control Earth powers

Tagiru realized this journey is hard, with his mistakes alone can make timelines messy so he need to serious about it. But like that mysterious digimon voice said before, warning him of the journey he take, this journey will give him a lot of despair, he seen his consequences when take a rash action and put a timeline more messy than it's should be.

As a Timeline Fixer, sure you didn't aged too much but your mental age will increase and increase your maturity too but you will suffer an eternity of regrets, sorrow and despair. But as long, you have Courage, Hope, Bravery, and Friendship etc (i forgot most crests so forgive me) alongside you.. you can breathe easily and fight that despair.

Gumdramon know Tagiru despair is like an abyss now so he take some of his despair so Tagiru didn't feel left out. Tagiru opposes this idea from the start cause he don't want Gumdramon berserk and lose his old self but Gumdramon disagree and do it anyway. He didn't go berserk and changed his form (? I have low knowledge of digimon) to Dark Gumdramon, his looks more menacing now but he still his old self, but more protective to Tagiru and Shinya.

OMG this became so long, I'm sorry 🤣

I feel like this year is tricky and will continue to be so because so much is going on internally.

Starting with a TP change, it is huge and I think people overlook that if Fred goes in too hard by trashing Ferrari to the media and throwing too many out at once, the higher ups might play games to muffle him and protect the Ferrariname. Personally that's what it seemed like from his comments on Spain- he's treading carefully now because he went in deep already, now he's moving more carefully. However, he's also made it clear that he's going for a championship asap with Charles. Nonetheless, Fred is not Ferrari- he can make an impression, but not the whole impact- there is a lot if work that needs to be done and politics to be sorted through before they can get there. The good thing is that Charles reallyyyy appreciates Fred as a TP, so he might stick around for a bit longer in this case.

The problems with the car are varied, but one big thing is that the data they have is not matched to the performance. So we cannot loudly scream incompetence because there is clearly something severly wrong that will take time to solve, so performance is going to hindered by that until atleast the data can start to correlate.

As for Charles, he's feeling it, but I think it will be okay and we cannot overly pity him. He realistically (unfortunately) has the best seat he can have for the next two seasons atleast. RB would only take him to get rid of the competition by making him second driver, and Merc is full unless Lewis wants to fuck around for fun and retire. Idk about others, but I would rather watch him pull miracles from a rebuilding Ferrari team than always be second to Max in the same equipment but restrained bc it's Max's team and he has seniority. That being said, it would be smart for him to renew his contract in 1-2 year increments so he can jump ship if need be lol.

Moral of this ridiculously long ass post(sorry again!), it's painful now, but there is potential. Yes - Ferrari have a shit car and are restructuring, but those can be settled slowly in through the year. Yes- Ferrari have changed TP multiple times, but this time, it's Fred who is experienced AND has a close relationship with Charles, you cannot say that existed with other TPs. There is potential that Charles and Fred can be a strong force in Ferrari. It sucks to watch Charles suffer, but he'll bounce back because he's likd that. This is the same man who still believed in the wdc last year after France, he's not going to give up easy.

exactly. that's the thing. fred only became the tp this year and any kind of change would come gradually. you can't just expect the car or the team or the management to magically start working wonders suddenly. whatever change happens, it will be slow and steady and we will notice it little by little as the season continues. fred and charles are obviously well acquainted and i think fred would know what kind of talent charles possesses, having seen him in his rookie year with alfa romeo. so if he wants to go for the wdc with charles, then surely it must mean something. and charles has stated that he trusts fred and hes willing to do it for them.

as for the car, it is not only lacking pace but also the tyre management is not very good. and you're right, the data is not matching with the performance because maybe the things they require exceeds the budget cap. we all know ferrari is the most successful team logistically speaking and they would have the best sorts of database but the main problem is the budget cap. it is one of the greatest teams in f1 so it surely has the largest amount of funds of all the teams but because of the budget cap, atp its mostly making the best out of the limited resources and that's what ferrari is lacking- efficiency. the budget cap having introduced in 2021, well, we all know how that season went. so i think they're not still used to not spending however much they like to get their resources and tools. now they just dont know how to get all the best equipments in limited money. other teams however already had less budget as compared to ferrari before the cost cap, so it wasn't really a problem for them.

see that's what im saying, ferrari, as much pain as it causes, is better than him going to alpine or alfa romeo. and he wouldn't go to rb imo, atleast not as long as max is there. and yes, that's what im saying, watching him or get achievements in that car, or him evolving with ferrari(like last season until ferrari happened) is certainly quite very more thrilling than watching him win in any other team so yes, he should stay for a season or two, see how it evolves but beyond that(when the team is not performing) is just stupidness. honestly i would say the same for lando, 1-2 seasons maximum because he's got good talent tbh. getting p3 in spain in that tractor of a car was quite an achievment tbh. imagine him going to rbr, perhaps he could go even faster than max.

yes, i totally agree with you. seeing him here is painful, but watching him go to some underdog and suffering there would be even more painful. fred believes in charles and vice versa. this was not the case with binotto-he held charles accountable every chance he got and charles never got the support he deserved. change comes gradually and eventually maybe they'll figure it out(though it is not any less painful)but tbh, im glad he is where he is rn, where he could also get some good support system.

what i also like about fred is though he wants to win with charles, he does not ask carlos to sacrifice anything unlike last year because that's just plain rude. it'd be a different story if charles was p2 or leading maybe but they are both practically at the same place in the wdc. so yea, this is what i like about him as a tp too that the other driver doesn't feel hes sacrificing too much.
