It’s an ancient tumblr practice from back when reblogged posts looked like this:
If you reblogged and added a new caption, it would indent all the previous text, and if someone reblogged from you and added a caption, it would indent again.
Which means sometimes popular posts would become completely unreadable, especially on tumblr’s mobile app.
To avoid this, people would refrain from commenting directly in the post, and would instead take their two cents to the tags. Anything from small comments, to incredible jokes, to in depth commentary could be hidden away in the tags to extend the longevity of the original post.
Obviously they’ve since fixed the format, but we’ve never stopped using tags this way. For those struggling with when to caption and when to tag their responses, maybe consider “is this addition worth making the entire post harder to read”, as that’s where it all started.
i'm just now realizing why the song 'mr. brightside' is in saltburn (other than it being very popular because it would have just came out a few years before).
it's like a look inside of how oliver is feeling about felix going through these girls while oliver has to wait and reach out to him himself. the only thing is 'and now my stomach is sick' isn't really an accurate thing considering what he does throughout the movie and the fact that he watches felix. (obviously other than when he mentions the eggs, which i think was to test saltburn as to how far they’ll go to keep the residents satisfied. if you get what i mean)
his jealousy of whatever it may have been (felix's life or the girls) overtook him and 'opened up his eager eyes' into lying to felix to get his attention. the price he paid to felix's death was in turn him 'killing' the catton family to inherit saltburn. he took their stones out of the water so that they could still live there with him.
most things about this song can relate back to either oliver or felix!
oliver watching and thinking about felix with another girl. 'it's taking control' are his impulses to make himself more interesting to felix with whatever he could come up with in the situation he was put in.
'because i want it all' is oliver wanting everything about felix down to his family and home.
'it started out with a kiss' felix kissing oliver's bike helmet when he offered felix his bike.
"how did it end up like this?' oliver being worried about felix finding out. he found out accidentally, which can prove that oliver acted on impulse alone and had absolutely no idea how this all would've played out.
'jealousy, turning saints into the sea' nobody in saltburn was a saint, but it was more like this innocent family dying one by one with their 'souls' being put in water.
thank you for reading and i have much more thoughts about this five second scene that included this song💞
I didn't even know there were this many tf fans on tumbrl
Welp, I definitely chose the right website for this thing then
When I started screenshotting tiny faces, I had no idea it would one day become my biggest contribution to society. Not complaining, though!
Thank you (yes, you, the person reading this post), for your time, your attention, your delightful additions to my posts, the faces you've contributed, or just the overall good vibes :) You are much appreciated!
I still have plenty more to post, and there is more source material on the way, so let's hope I can one day reach 1000 faces
Until then, drink water and remember you're all really cool and awesome!
