German police, Zionists and politicians have surrounded a Berlin community centre where pro-Palestine organizers are holding a press conference about the Palestine Congress that is due to begin today.

For weeks, the German media and politicians have been trying to ban the congress.

Organizers homes have been raided, speakers have been threatened with visa bans and the bank account of Jewish organization and co-organizers, Jewish Voice has been shut down.

The slogan of the congress is "We Accuse", and its aim is to highlight Germany's complicity in Israel's genocide in Gaza.

It's speakers include Greek politician Yanis Varoufakis, Irish MP Richard Boyd Barrett and founder of the Palestine Land Society, Dr.Salman Abu Sitta.

Dáil Éireann (Assembly of Ireland) was suspended today, as the People Before Profit Political Party pushed to have a debate on the Irish Government's disappointing decision not to support South Africa's case against Israel in the ICJ. Richard Boyd Barrett condemned the decision.

Ah yes, the facts speaking Irish people who love beating POC up.

It says a lot about you as a person that people speaking up against a genocide of people of colour, is what you find offensive.

Rather than the act of genocide itself.

Especially targeting a group of people who have faced similar atrocities and hardships as the Palestinians.

Who also have a long history of solidarity with them.

To the point Palestinian owned businesses creating and selling Kuffiyeh's have created a design which incorporates the flag of Ireland.

As a symbol of that solidarity.

I meant what I said, the Irish speak facts. What Richard Boyd Barrett was saying in Irish Parliament in that video, quite based.

I wonder if you'd be happier if they didn't speak up.

If they said nothing as Israel kills thousands upon thousands of Palestinians.

If that's the case you might want to flip the finger accusing people of racism and point it at yourself.

Actual people of colour are being killed by the thousands, in Palestine, in Congo, in Sudan and all over the world.

The Irish are not responsible for that. They are one of the most vocal groups of people condemning it all.

"Oh but some aren't, some are racists" yeah, like any other group of people on earth.

No shit Sherlock.

But the fact you'd rather focus on those outliers than Israel carpeting bombing Gaza and the actual contributors to these atrocities.

Shows you don't care for the victims at all.

So let the Irish cook, because frankly I trust their words more than yours.

On Friday afternoon, the German capital of Berlin witnessed scenes reminiscent of the era of the Nazi regime. Hundreds of police officers terrorised an anti-war congress, which was directed against Israel’s genocide in Gaza, in order to disperse and ban it after two hours. Prominent speakers were expected at the congress, organised by the Jewish Voice for a Just Peace in the Middle East and attended by several pro-Palestinian organisations. They included former Greek Finance Minister Yanis Varoufakis, Irish MP Richard Boyd Barrett, British-Palestinian doctor and rector of Glasgow University Ghassan Abu-Sitteh, 86-year-old Palestine expert Salman Abu Sitta, a former member of the Palestinian National Council, Jewish filmmaker Dror Dayan and Palestinian journalist Hebh Jamal. The media and political establishment unleashed a vicious smear campaign against the congress in advance. From the tabloid Bild to the “respectable”��Tagesspiegel, they denounced the participants as “Israel-haters.” Bild headlined on Friday morning: “Congress of Israel haters. These terrorist fans are appearing in Berlin today.” An all-party “Alliance against Anti-Semitic Terrorism,” which spans politicians from the right-wing Christian Democratic Union/Christian Social Union to the Left Party, declared that the Congress was expected to “spread anti-Semitic hatred” and that Berlin should not become “the centre of terrorist glorification.” For the Left Party, former Berlin Senator for Culture Klaus Lederer and former Berlin Labor Senator Elke Breitenbach signed the appeal. The police acted accordingly. Ghassan Abu-Sitteh was denied entry at the Berlin Airport. The doctor, who worked at the Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza after the beginning of the war and gave a harrowing interview to Der Spiegel on 6 December about his terrible experiences there, was to give a lecture at the congress in the evening. Instead, he was told that he was not allowed to enter Germany until April 14.
