Hi there! I'm thinking of adopting my own pet rock, but I want to make sure I do some research and can provide a proper habitat for them before adopting.
Do you have any begginer tips?
Thank you! 💜 🪨
Would love to share some beginner tips!
Research
When adopting a pet rock, find one suitable for your living space. A boulder might be too big in a small apartment, but a pebble might get lost if you intend to leave it in a large yard
Some rocks prefer certain habitats over others. This is largely dependent on where you found them. Some rocks prefer living in aquariums, others prefer sitting in a pot next to a plant, while others, like crystals (or anything sparkly really), prefer sitting on a desk and being admired.
Some rocks are more social than others! Generally, the smaller the rock, the more friends they will need for enrichment. A lonely pebble is very likely to run away from you. (Note: in the case of gravel, the rocks prefer to be named as a whole rather than individually)
Social rocks tend to be cool with being in jars with their friends
When finding a rock, you might be fooled into thinking you're the one finding the rock and removing it from its habitat. When actually, the rock is the one choosing you! If you think a rock looks cool, that's the rock calling you! (This is why you may be tempted to get more rocks than you should, even if you went out with the intention of getting one)
Similarly, if you get a gut feeling about your rock, that's probably your rock trying to talk to you!
Before naming your new rock, give them a nice bath when you first take them home. This allows you to see their full glory before fully deciding on a name!
Enrichment After finding a nice place for your new rock, it is now important to give them proper enrichment. Here are a few examples of how you can have fun with your rock!
pet them
teach them tricks (popular beginner ones include sit, stand, roll over, and follow)
play some music
my personal favourite, shake them! rocks emerged from the Earth, which has frequent vibrations. shaking a rock is the equivalent of cradling it as it reminds them of mother Earth!
similarly, squeeze them! rocks experience lots of pressure from being underground
rocks are also favorable to human affection, do not be afraid to hug them and give them a little kiss
paint on them! rocks can't really see it but they appreciate the sensation
play pretend (some rocks are just natural formed actors!)
read a story with them
take a walk
etc, etc. I'm sure you can find lots more ways to have fun with your new rock. good luck and have fun!

i found a disintegrating cardboard box full of rocks under the porch probably forgotten by the previous inhabitants of this house and I brought them in to wash and identify and I found two chalcedony geodes, a bunch of agate, my favorite type of feldspar, a delightful pegmatite, and a ton of petrified wood. several of these appear to have fossils in them!

ALBUM REVIEW: Anthology By @carcosabc Genre: Deathcore Carcosa's debut album "Anthology" starts of with a melancholy sounding yet beautiful intro track directly into the EXPLOSIVE "Hypnos" which is one of the most brutal tracks off of the album. "Descensus" begins with a neat electronic intro that makes the growl vocals seem even more intense when they kick in. This song really perfects the buildup and climactic elements before the heavier parts and it has a pretty great breakdown. Then into "Vermin" which utilizes multiple separate styles of vocals back to back making it very intriguing. The chorus is quite melodic, with sing/screaming and is a nice touch. "Devoid" was a surprise with multiple breakdowns, fast paced riffs and even a piano. "Present: Precursor" is a short track that packs a lot of punch and even features @taylorsuffers . "Vanta Black" is a unique track that sounds quite a bit different from some of the others and features @iamrickyhoover . "Our Scars" has a sick breakdown featuring @kyleofsacrifice . "My Plague" is Carcosa's top track and rightfully so, with a powerful breakdown and the highlight being outro, with an eerie choir, and an electronic synthesizer creating really filling melodic sounds. The final track of the album is "Absent: Post" which really threw me for a loop when the clean female vocals by @charliepsmusic came in followed by her growling, the song then slows down and gradually fades out with an acoustic guitar. Please check out @carcosabc 's latest album deathcore and metal fans will love it! - - - #metalcore #deathcore #metal #heavymetal #deathmetal #modernmetal #numetal #newmetal #modernmetal #altmetal #alternativemetal #blackmetal #creepy #dark #macabre #musicblog #metalblog #metalmusic #rocknroll #rockblog #heavymusic #blog #instablog #indiemetal #indie #indieartist #indiemetal #newmusic #spotify #altrock #heavyrock #carcosa https://www.instagram.com/p/CSxwbFqLhfl/?utm_medium=tumblr

Vermin By @carcosabc "Vermin" is Carcosa's brand new single, I have covered them before and they are a fairly new deathcore band that has found lots of success so far. "Vermin" is no different, it has incredible sound quality and is composed equally well. Carcosa creates an impressive atmosphere and has made a song that remains intensely brutal, yet manages to add a very melodic chorus which most deathcore songs do not include. Overall "Vermin" has a very unique and appealing sound, check out @carcosabc 's music and show them your support! *Spotify Playlists in bio! - - - #metalcore #deathcore #metal #heavymetal #deathmetal #modernmetal #numetal #newmetal #modernmetal #altmetal #alternativemetal #blackmetal #creepy #carcosa #macabre #musicblog #metalblog #metalmusic #rocknroll #rockblog #heavymusic #blog #instablog #indiemetal #indie #indieartist #indiemetal #newmusic #spotify #altrock #heavyrock #alternative https://www.instagram.com/p/CSflfT3Lj0J/?utm_medium=tumblr
