TK and Carlos are merchants at a farmers market with stalls right across from each other!au

1 - Carlos runs an ice pop stand* at the farmer's market. It's something in between the creamsicles and paletas of his childhood and the flavors of a botanical syrup - cilantro pineapple, and strawberry basil, and honey cantaloupe lavender, and honey rosemary cream pop, and saffron rosewater cream pop, as well as the more traditional crowd pleasers like fudgsicle, and salted caramel latte. He's got a following and a couple of people suggesting a brick and mortar store down on the riverwalk.

2 - TK runs the stall opposite him that sells organic skin care products made with locally sourced products. Over slow afternoons at the market - after the lunch rush, and before the on the way home from work rush - TK tells him that his Dad was the one who started the business, but TK was the one who persuaded him that more people would be into it if it smelled nice too.

3 - They trade favorite flavor combinations over early morning coffees as they set up the stalls - grapefruit and mint, lemon verbana, almond and honey.

4 - Carlos works for a month straight trying to get the balance right between apricot and cream and cinnamon, and holds his breath when TK tries it. TK savors it, letting it melt across his tongue, and then goes back for another bite. "It tastes like rugelach in popsicle form," he says finally with a hint of wonder, and Carlos grins wide. "Happy Hanukkah."

5 - A few weeks later TK hands him a neatly wrapped box, and protests when Carlos starts to open it immediately. It's filled with a series of hand creams - vanilla and sandalwood, orange and bergamot, jasmine and honey. "Your hands are always chapped." TK explains. "And, I've been watching, you like those flavors, even if you haven't quite figured out to make the earl grey tea popsicle work yet."

+1 - When the markets reopen in the Spring TK always tastes like the latest flavor Carlos is working on when Carlos kisses him before the rush starts, because he always steals one to eat on their way in, and Carlos's hands are soft when they cup TK's neck, and leave traces of honeysuckle and jasmine on his skin.

Animal: Right now I'm really loving groundhogs LOL I follow a guy on tiktok and he just has videos of him hanging out with groundhogs - my husband and I love watching together after dinner, the groundhogs are so funny 💀

Movie: I don't watch many movies/tv shows - but I do keep a netflix account so I can watch "Single All the Way" 😂 It's a queer christmas romcom like what more do I need really

Season: Spring - love seeing all the flowers bloom around the neighbourhood. Wish I could have that in my own garden but I'm not very good with plants 😬 (so far my casualties are 3 succulents and 1 rosemary plant. They were all gifted to me too, I'm so sorry - I TRIED)

Character: I gave up on this one 😅

Colour: All shades of Pink or mustard yellow (lol everything in my apartment is either pink or yellow 😂 typing on a pink keyboard with my pink mug sitting on a yellow coaster 💀)

Hobby: oh gosh i have too many and my favourite changes all the time - right now I guess reading? I literally do nothing but read fanfics in my free time right now 😂

Book: I literally have not read a single book since I read RWRB years ago so I'm going to have to go with that 💀

What do they smell like?

Realistically, if you hugged them (P3) - (p1) (p2)

Mattsukawa: He showers a lot to get the work smell off him- Smoky sage and white musk are the main scents in his cologne. Gives gentle, firm hugs that cage your entire shoulders.

Hanamaki: cucumber water and rosehip oil. He nurtures his skin. Lazy side grabbing hugger.

Yahaba: Mint. Aggressively like spearmint. Even his sweat is minty. Will grab your shoulders and pull you in for a quick, tight hug.

Kyōtani: Inexplicably like pipe tobacco??? He doesn't smoke. It's probably a cologne, but like... No one's sure. Breif, tight hugs from him. Sometimes one armed.

Ennoshita: The clinical doctors office smell never really leaves, but neither does the light green tea scent he drinks. Likely to pop your back if he hugs you like a goddamned chiropractor.

Kunimi: cucumber melon body lotion. Weak shitty hugs AND he bunches up the back of your jacket with his hands, but he smiles at you when he breaks away.

Akiteru: Citrus! He's fresh! He's zesty! He puts lemon essential oils on his dryer balls. Tight hugger, really grips you and shakes you a lil.

Kindaichi: Axe body wash and deodorant AND spray. You are GOING to smell the cloud of Ambassador© a solid minute before he walks into the room. Strong but short lived hugs. (Longer ones would make your eyes water.)

Takeda: Like barley tea and ink pens. Crispy fresh laundry scent is embedded in his cardigans, so if you like laundromats, give him a squeeze. Not likely to initiate a hug but returns them gently and with genuine joy.

Fukunaga: Like he's been frying bacon! Frycook smell. Restaurant back of house smell. A lil sweaty when he hugs you but he makes a joke about it so you never really mind. Known to improvise elaborate handshakes on a whim.

Taketora: Sweat. Black ice soap and aftershave if he's just showered. Slaps your back, HARD, when he's finished hugging you.

Koganegawa: He occasionally forgets deodorant, but uses hibiscus dryer sheets and usually smells like those. Will quickly squeeze you when he hugs.

Futakuchi: Like a latte, but the scent changes with the seasons. Lavender in spring, vanilla in summer, pumpkin spice and cinnamon in fall and winter. Bumps into your side and slides into the hug.

Semi: This guy. Leather and rosemary. Smoky, like it's incense he's been burning and not something he put on intentionally. Never lets the hug go on for too long.

Goshiki: Surprisingly sophisticated. Oak and cinnamon from an expensive name brand cologne he impulse purchased during an after-Christmas sale. Is just radiating heat up close when you're in his arms.

Komori: Sort of fruity. Coconut mango body wash will do that. Short and simple hugger, whacks you on the back when he's done.

Aran: Delightful. Has cologne contract obligations, but he'd smell like them regardless. It's a smooth amber scent with a touch of something floral, classy and masculine with a hint of sweetness. Smooths a palm up and down your back when hugging.

Kita: Like rice husk and old pine boards, hard work and sweat and sunshine. A little dusty- when he hugs there might be a little milled rice flour left behind on your back. Hugs firm and solid and really connects with you.

Suna: Sandalwood and almond and juniper. Part cologne, part something else- he won't tell you no matter how much you ask and it's driving everyone completely insane. Likes to sneak up from behind to hug.

Atsumu: Tonka bean & anise cologne.... Sweet and dark. Raises his arms like a bear before he hugs you, likely to rock you around a little before he lets you go with another squeeze.

Hoshiumi: CAMPHOR BODY SPRAY. Usually kind of sticky. He WILL pick you up when he hugs you. This is a threat.

⭐️So Golden~ Do you really want to know where I was [May] 29th [1994]? I was being born! Lol. Birthday birthday 딱 지금이야 🥳 That's right it's my birthday!! My 29th birthday, AKA my Golden Birthday! (29 on the 29th lol) We went to Buffet Palace the night before my birthday for my birthday dinner, and I wore my birthday outfit! Lol. (I only got pics of my fortune & the sesame balls I took lol) We also stopped at Central Market on the way home for some Birthday Desserts and also some Rosemary Bread because it's my favorite lol And when we got home, my sister (w/ help from my mom & brother's girlfriend) set up gold birthday balloons and a birthday banner at my desk! And she gave me this really pretty owl card signed by everybody, including the cats! And a Kate Spade pencil case set that includes 2 pencils, a ruler, an eraser, and a gold sharpener. And then, on my actual birthday, I woke up to my mom having written Happy Birthday in 5 languages on our white board! And my sister bought me Starbucks, but they messed up and made it a iced coffee instead of my latte, so we got a free one anyway! Lol. We also went and grabbed a few birthday freebies! A dozen Kristy Kreme donuts, a Lemon Drop cookie from Panera Bread, and a small Mozzarella Sticks with purchase! Alex wished me happy birthday everywhere at Midnight as is our tradition (so my notifications were blowing up) and Raven sent me this super cute owl drawing she did! For dinner I made Sausage & Cabbage and Baked Mac N Cheese b/c it's one of my favorite meals! Lol. I also want to include that my mom & sister each bought me a Got The Beat Stamp On It Album (and one of the albums gave me Taeyeon for all of the pulls! lol), and my dad got me aespa & Red Velvet photocards & some scrunchies last weekend! Overall it was a pretty great Golden Birthday!

Part Eight: Your kiss rips through the shadows

I tell Eddie to meet me in the park around the corner from my house the next morning. I end up getting up at 7 am feeling a little blurry around the edges.

I drink a large glass of lemon and rosemary water and feed Chance, before doing another protective shower. My butterflies are in overdrive as I pad to my bedroom. I select thick tights, a black mini skirt and an Adventure Time t-shirt. I layer on a cardigan and leather jacket along with some pink socks peeking over my black Docs.

Chance leaps about as I begin to ready what she recognises as her usual walking bits: poo bags, portable water bowl and bottle and finally her large black harness.

"Calm down little lamb," I giggle as I pet her with one hand and slide the harness over her head with the other. Once she's all snapped in I hook her lead and we leave the flat.

Elphaba spots us and walks with us for the first street and followed us for half a street before trotting off to go back to whatever shenanigans she was up to. Chance can sense my anxiety, stopping to look at me every few feet.

As I approach the gates of the park I spot Eddie right away. He's looking in the opposite direction, standing leaning against a brick pillar, dressed in skinny jeans, combat boots, a denim jacket and a Misfits t-shirt. A cigarette is dangling from his pouty mouth, eyes covered in dark wayfarers, and curly hair in an effortless shaggy cut, seemingly grown quite a bit overnight.

A breeze rushes past me towards Eddie and I see his nostrils flare and head snaps around to me. The grin that spreads across his face as he sees me, just like I'm his favourite person, literally makes me stop in my tracks. He saunters towards me, smile beaming, cupholder with two drinks balanced in one hand.

Chance is instantly interested in the man walking towards me, I watch as Eddie puts the coffee down, drops to his knees and puts his hand out as an offer to the dog. She sniffs him a few times before knocking his hand, her gesture to let him know she wants pets. He seems to know this and begins scratching her around the ears immediately.

"Do I get a hello like that?" I say after a minute.

He looks up at me with his goofy grin, both hands rapidly scratching the rolls around her neck.

"Wait your turn," he winks at me and I wish he wasn't playing around.

He stands up and brushes the knees of his jeans, picking up the drinks before leaning over and placing a kiss on my left cheek. Intense heat and electricity happen when his lips touch my skin. I see him jump back.

"Was that..." he pauses. "An electric shock?"

"No." I manage to gasp out, the feeling spreading through my body and I feel my face flush hard.

"Does that happen... often?"

"It's never happened to me before." My voice is embarrassingly squeaky.

"Interesting." I see Eddie mull over what is being said.

Chance pulls me towards the park, no time for romantic nonsense. I let her do so and we both fall into a nice place around the path. He hands me an iced latte from a coffee shop around the corner, I thank him and he takes his own espresso cup. I notice he waits until we walk past a recycling bin before discarding the cupholder. I must have been caught smirking because he nudges me with his elbow.

"Looking after the planet is punk rock." he nods at me.

"I obviously agree, nature is where my magic comes from."

We come to the clearing and I let Chance off her lead. She starts to zoom around us as I take a big drink of my coffee.

"So, you don't sparkle then?"

He snorts with laughter, and to my surprise, he leans over and takes my hand in his. The sparks happen, fireflies under skin, but neither of us pulls away.

"Is this ok?" he asks and gives my hand a little squeeze.

There is, what feels like, a steady stream of energy running between us.

"Yes," I say, so decisively I am taken aback by myself.

We stroll around the park for a while in silence, our hands swinging between us. I feel so... fresh and charged, being in nature and also being with Eddie. I feel like a silly teenager, absolutely thrilled to be holding hands and walking around.

"And no, I don't sparkle. The sun makes me tired and weak and hurts my eyes, but no burning or sparkling."

"I want to tell you about the incident your friend told you about." I sigh.

"Lily, you don't have to do that, you don't need to explain anything." he shakes his head at me, curls tumbling around his handsome face.

"We're being honest with each other, aren't we?"

"We are."

"So a few years back, witches were going missing, being found drained of blood. The worst spate of deaths for..."

"I remember, there were talks amongst our kind too," he says softly.

"It wasn't done subtly, I know amongst vampires, like witches, it's safer for us to keep hidden."

Our walk has slowed, Chance is keeping close now, sensing the change in tone.

"I found out who it was, tracked them down to the lair and we fought. Your friend's maker told him I nearly killed him - but the truth is we nearly killed each other. I don't even truly understand what happened. He came at me, super strength and speed and I saw him wielding my friend's powers and I saw red, literal red. The haze descended over me and this pulse of power leaves me."

I don't realise I've stopped, but Eddie pulls me gently to sit down on a bench and Chance lies down by my feet.

"And we were both knocked off our feet, I got up, and he didn't. I was so weak, I literally crawled outside, I was so sure I was going to die - I managed to call someone to come and get me, and then I called the only vampire I knew and he said he'd come and get him and then I passed out.

"I woke up in a coven house a week later, my hair went white from the power drain and the colour never came back. My magick took a long time to come back, we were concerned that it wasn't going to come back. It took months for me to recover, but eventually, everything

was restored, except for my red hair."

I keep my eyes fixed on the floor, hands wringing each other as my heart is racing. I haven't thought about that night for some time and even just relaying it I feel beads of sweat at the back of my neck and my breathing comes fast.

Eddie's hands suddenly grasp mine and I look at him, his dark eyes are so full of emotion. My eyes drop again and he gives my hands a squeeze. I feel a rush of energy and emotion run between us and my heart slows.

"Look at me," Eddie's voice is soft, crooning. I lift my eyes to his. "You're safe now."

His face is so close to mine, I am swimming in the pools of midnight that are his eyes. I take in his handsome face, the stubble on his chin, I can smell him, vanilla, leather and tobacco and something else... I can taste his breath on my lips... fuck.

He pulls back, still keeping his large hands around mine.

"I use blood banks to feed." Eddie begins and it's his turn to look away as he speaks. "I swap three bags of mine for a bag of whatever they have in surplus."

I am surprised at this, but I do suppose it makes sense. Vampire blood has a lot of different properties when infused into someone it heals, and makes your bones and muscles stronger. I also know that vampire blood, when drunk from the source, and when there's nothing to heal, the blood circulates in your body and leaves you feeling, from what I hear, pure euphoria.

"To make a vampire you have to drain a human's blood almost all the way, before getting them to drink vampire blood, or a human has to lose almost all their own blood and can be transfused and the change would start."

"I didn't know about the transfusion thing, for turning I mean." I cringe at my dumb response.

"Nor did the nurse who tried to save me."

I feel my eyes widen in response, eyebrows shooting up into my fringe.

"I was overdosing, in the back of someone's van in the eighties, and they crashed, and I Went through the window and lost a lot of blood. I needed a transfusion and the nurse had a deal with a vamp going on, but he never warned her about someone who had lost so much..."

"Eddie," I say quietly, and he finally looks at me. "Did you have to deal with everything on your own?"

I know the post was directed to antis but if possible..... Advice on dealing with the people that genuinely treat other real humans in fandom spaces disgusting, to the point of stalking socials and screenshots, making jokes at others expense for their interests or personhood, and more that ultimately make fandom difficult to enjoy, all in the name of their fiction of choice to the point that makes it difficult not to lump those with similar interests together?

A part of me is like, am I the best person to ask right now when a bunch of losers are trying to "cancel" me?

But maybe that is the reason you're asking and I hope it's out of an honest curiosity and not because these shitheads have targeted you.

My advice is to do whatever you can to cut those people out. Block heavily and without discretion. If people are encouraging others to dogpile another user, no matter the reason, get out of that situation. Curate your internet experience through blocking, through muting, whatever you need to do so that only the people you love and the things you love show up on your feed, wherever that might be.

And my advice is to focus on what you love. For me? God, I love a good glass of sparkling wine. So I bought a lovely bottle of bubbly to celebrate tonight.

I am reading a biography about Anna May Wong and rereading "A Wrinkle in Time", which is phenomenal post-Evangelical.

Spend time with your friends. Go outside. Order an iced latte and walk around in the sunshine. Rent your favorite movie. Call your friends.

Remember that there is a hell of a lot more to life than fandom and cancel culture and social justice warriors.

Over new years our favourite DC cafe, Little Red Fox, closed down pretty much out of the blue :( We have a big fox plushie family so fox-themed locales were special places! Some cute photos to remember it by:

It was the best cafe - I never bothered to take photos of the indoors, it was immensely popular so I assumed it would always be around. Apparently, the owners lived in California and were having health issues so it just wasnt feasible to run it anymore. Tragic but also the fate of most local joints.
