propoganda for the amulet of samarkand by and by extension the entire bartemaeus trilogy: some of the coolest worldbuilding i've ever read, especially re: magic, both protags are SO interesting to me (nathaniel the unhinged too-smart child with too many ambitions and not enough mercy, bartemaeus as the multidimentional chaotic neutral being who has just, the funniest internal dialogue) and they mesh off eachother so well, that enemies-to-reluctant-allies thing, the CONFLICT! the fact that they are both bound to eachother and both resent it, it's all so good

in hindsight i think this book may have influenced. many things i enjoy deeply about media today. the amount of comparisons i could draw to my current blorbos.... whoof.

As I was compiling the summaries of the books for the poll and I read the one for this book, all I could think was "This is the most eleven-year-old shit I've ever seen" lmao.

(the-faultofdaedalus on main) re: prev tags Lily is one of my ocs, and the one i am perhaps most normal about. she’s technically a marvel oc but from a multi-years long au built by me and my friends. the later part of her whole deal involves being murdered, and then taking a deal with the goddess of death to hunt neceomancer serial killers with the clause that no one can know she *isnt* dead-dead (it’s a whole thing about how this resurrection works) so she very logically steals the identity of her murderer after killing him for a year and a half before she can do some bullshit science-magic to break this “non observation” clause and go home. it’s a Whole thing.

@rowantreeisme see the very last thing i posted but i think he is so damaged. like. i think he is never okay again after his own tony dies. and steve is not the kind of person, to me, who ruminates about potential branching paths. he makes a decision and he fucking follows through even if it's a dumb decision and i think for civil warrior the decision is 'i have to die.' it is an act of self-flagellation every time he ends a steve's life and it is a pitiful attempt at touching redemption that will always be out of reach and he is just gonna be in this hamster loop of self-destruction and trauma until he stops winning fights against himself, probably

When Steve’s ship is irreparably damaged, Rhodey takes him and his whole crew onto the Iron Advance to recover. Tony’s not at all nervous about this, because so what if this is the first time Steve will see him without the Iron Man armor?

a little story about maedhros, his emotional issues with intimacy, and uhhh. fingon getting tied up. i had a lot of fun writing this one and i think the characterization came through well in it.

another bite-sized story about people working through trauma. yes the rough sex is crucial
