emotions that scare and confuse me. by Miss_Nihilist
Summary:
Asuna couldn't tell when, exactly, dislike gave way to fascination. She prided herself on understanding others — the better she understood them, the easier they were to manipulate. It was frustrating that she couldn't understand someone as simple and straight-forward as Kirito.
Until the day she finally could.
!! SAO ABRIDGED-VERSE !!
Preview:
"Hey, Klein?" Asuna spoke up from where she stood at the head of the table, the map with her strategy for their next raid laid out in front of her. The other members of their party had dispersed a while ago for lunch, leaving the two of them alone, so there was no audience to hear Asuna ask, "What do you know about Kirito?"
She was embarrassed that she was even asking, even wasting her time thinking about that asshole when she had a raid to plan. But Asuna hadn't been able to get Kirito out of her mind since he joined their raid party, and at this point, she was willing to swallow her pride in exchange for answers.
Klein didn't bother trying to hide his surprise. "You want to know about Kirito? But you can't stand him."
Asuna bit back the urge to threaten him into giving her answers. No matter how hard it was, she was not going to be like her father.
"Exactly," she agreed, "and that's a weakness in our party's ability to work together as a team. If I'm going to be able to trust Kirito with my life—" (the thought made her sick) "— then I need to know more about him. And you've known him longer than anyone here, so...?" Asuna tilted her head to the side, doing her best to exude innocent curiosity.
It must have worked, because even though Klein didn't look convinced, he slowly nodded. "Okay..." He looked away. "But I can't tell you very much. I know some of it, but Kirito's really... difficult to be close to. He doesn't like to talk about himself."
'Difficult' was a word for it. Asuna resisted the urge to roll her eyes and gestured for Klein to continue

Asuna: awwww look at edgy mcedgelord rogue Kirito! Such an edgy emo using his stealth skills to hide from his feelings!
Kirito: For the last time, Asuna! I chose the rogue type skill tree because it fits with my fighting style! My entire body type is based around speed and stealth! I'm just playing to my strengths, and this is the strongest in game skillet to utilize! And what are you if you're not a rogue type?
Asuna: Oh. I'm a tank!

forever obsessed with the sao abridged storyline where kirito (biggest asshole ever hates everyone) gets attached to one (1) vulnerable (due to lag) young woman (sachi) against his will and looses her, and it destroys him. and then he spends the rest of the show pretending otherwise while constantly encountering MORE vulnerable (bc they suck at rpgs) (god bless but at least they have personalities) young women (silica, lizbeth, yolko, basically ever woman but asuna sadly) who rely on him to keep them safe (bc they suck at the game). and so hes just constantly reminded of sachi and refusing to acknowledge or admit it. and the wost part is that sachi herself already reminded him of his FUCKING SISTER. its genuinely a better character plot than anything in the original series

Ask (crossover au): How defensive do Pyrrha and SAO Abridged Asuna get when they see someone flirt with Jaune?
“Very.” He nervously answered as he stared at the two demonic faces of the insane and possessive redheads who was glaring dagger at the rabbit-eared brunette.
