Misao Novel Chapter 11

After Aki left the library, she made the decision to head to the staff room first.

“Why are you acting all high and mighty?” Yoshino complained.

“Do I really seem like I am?”

“Well, you already decided on where you wanna go, right?”

"Before we found Shirai-kun, we had originally talked about going to the staff room. Besides, even if we were to look for Misao-chan, we have very few clues. First of all, we need information, and if we go to the staff room, there might be documents related to Misao-chan.”

Yoshino snorted in dissatisfaction. She didn’t seem to like her suggestion, or the staff room anyway.

“Besides, I already agreed to look for Misao-chan. If you don’t have any other good ideas, then don’t complain.”

Yoshino followed Aki after that, clicking her tongue in annoyance.

They walked very slowly, being cautious of the area. Onigawara had said that evil spirits were lurking, even if you couldn’t see them.

Saotome anxiously clung to Tohma.

“There’s a lot of suspicious things going on, but if someone tries to come out, I’ll protect you, Otome.” Tohma tapped the metal bat he’d found in a locker against his hand.

“Yaaaah, Tohma protect me if an evil spirit pops out!”

“Of course.” Tohma wrapped an arm around her.

“Hey, Aki?” Ayaka had been weary earlier, but after being in the library, she seemed strangely okay. “What did you think of Onigawara-san?”

“Hm...I think he was really mysterious, but I feel like we can trust him, even though this isn’t a normal situation.” She recalled Onigawara’s story.

“That’s not what I meant!”

“...?”

“Sure, he was bald...but don’t you think he was pretty handsome? And I loved his mysterious atmosphere~! ♡“

...Oh. That.

So that’s why Ayaka was doing better.

"I thought Ayaka liked Kurata-sensei?”

“Eh, I do love Kurata-sensei. But that aside, Onigawara-san is really nice too!”

“Ha...”

“I wonder where Kurata-sensei is now?” Kudoh looked worried.

“If what Onigawara-san said is correct, I think they are having a normal class.”

The actual time was not known because neither the wall clock nor the cell phone clock was moving. The most important thing to remember is that the time is not the same as it used to be after the earthquake. Aki wondered if this is also a result of the world, and what time it was.

“Oh, that crack is big...”

Aki stopped at the first floor in front of the staff room. Tohma had noticed a crack in the corridor, which was wider than the others. It seemed to be about 5cm wide.

“I hope the building doesn’t collapse...” Kudoh said in a slightly ominous tone.

“Cracks and crevices like this make me want to throw the trash away," Tohma said with a laugh.

“Huh?” Kudoh frowned.

“Don’t you like to squeeze garbage between cracks?”

“Ah, I do it.” Yoshino said.

“...I don’t do that.”

“I’m gonna do something~” Tohma picked up some concrete and glass fragments that were lying around into the cracks.

“Tohma, you shouldn’t be doing such things.” Aki said.

“There’s nothing wrong with it.”

At that moment, Saotome screamed. “Kyaaaah!”

“O-oi, Otome! Don’t startle me!”

“L-look..! O-over there..!” Saotome trembled while pointing at the crack that Tohma had tossed the garbage in.

“Hm?” Tohma looked suspicious.

“It’s looking at you!” Saotome screamed.

Tohma looked at the cracks again. He seemed to notice it then, and let out a scream, dropping the baseball bat.

From the dark depths of the cracks, the eyes turned and looked at Aki.

The cracks were only about 5cm but there seemed to definitely be someone there.

“Wh-what is that thing?!”

That was when the evil spirit came out of the cracks. When it came out, both of the shoulders popped free, and the evil spirit bent its arms and put its hands on the corridor. It was also barefoot. They could all hear the sound of the cracks being split apart. The other foot then began to appear as well before the evil spirit slowly stood up. She was wearing a long dress and was tall and blue. Her skin was pale, with a dreary face and long black hair and a slightly toned body.

She was skinny, but she was definitely the size of a regular person. Aki couldn’t imagine she could fit through such a narrow crack.

The spirit slowly approached Tohma, with there being only a faint pitter patter of footsteps.

“Kaaah! Don’t come any closer!!” Tohma fell on his butt and scooted backwards until his back was against the wall of the hallway.

The spirit continued onward, closing the distance between the two.

“Why are you here?! Did I do something to you?! Go away!”

At this point, Aki wasn’t even sure if the spirit was intelligent enough to listen.

“W-wait, Misao! Misao, did you order this monster after me?! Y-you liked me, right?! Then stop! Stop it!”

Again, there was no reaction from the spirit. When it got close to Tohma’s face, it raised a hand and swung it down towards Tohma.

“Aaaaaah!!” Tohma flinched out of the way of the evil spirit’s arm, just as the spirit’s hand slammed into the wall where Tohma had been. There was a loud sound.

It had looked like the spirit had casually swung it’s arm down, but it’s fist got stuck in the wall, and cracks radiated from where the fist had landed. The impact had smashed the evil spirit’s hand into pieces, and body fluids splattered everywhere.

“W-waaaah!!”

“Tohma!” Saotome shouted. But she, like everyone else, were all on their knees and couldn’t just jump in to help. They had no idea what to do with such a monster who could do so much damage.

Aki recalled what Onigawara had said earlier.

“It’s a human, isn’t it?”

“Eh..?” Aki didn’t look at Ayaka.

“It’s an evil spiit but it looks like a human...but it’s not, right?”

“Right...then there’s no problem with this. And if it’s a mistake, then it’s not my fault, it’d be Onigawara-san’s,” Aki muttered to herself to justify her next actions. She picked up the bat that Tohma had dropped. It was probably the first time in her life that she’d ever held a metal bat. It was heavier than she thought.

Despite that, she felt she could get used to it.

The evil spirit raised its crushed hand to swing down on Tohma again, blood staining its white dress.

Bat in hand, Aki stood behind the evil spirit.

“Everyone, get back!” Aki warned, and after a few seconds, she hit the evil spirit over the head with the bat. There was a dull echo of a slap.

It was noisy and disgusting. She could feel the soft feeling of crushing flesh and the hard feeling of crushing bones, the two mixing unpleasantly.

The evil spirit staggered and fell to the ground, spurting body fluids all around. However, it continued to try to move towards Tohma.

“I have to do it again?” Aki gasped to herself. There was no helping it. She obviously couldn’t knock it out with one hit, so she had to do it again. And if that didn’t work...

Well...

She hit it again, and again, as many times as she had to, until it stopped moving. Her limbs were sore after the fifth hit, but she kept hitting it anyway. Right on the evil spirit’s head. It was writhing as if it were a caught fish.

Halfway through, she forgot what she was even doing. It didn’t matter if the evil spirit was trying to get up or not, she just kept bringing the bat down on its head as if she’d been propelled to do so, over and over again.

Before long, she finally managed to stop. She turned to where Tohma had been to ask him if he was alright, but he wasn’t there anymore. She looked to her left, then to her right, finding that he was about ten meters away.

“You’re in a place like that...” Aki walked over to him and finally asked him, “are you alright?”

Tohma stared up at her, looking absolutely terrified for some reason. He blinked, and then spoke up. “Yeah. Thanks.”

“You shouldn’t be so careless,” Aki said, glancing over at the crack where the spirit had come from.

“One wouldn’t think that they can come out from a crack like that...” Kudoh said thoughtfully.

“Should we try to seal it up or something?” Aki looked back over at Tohma, who was slowly standing up now, staring down.

“Even though I told Saotome earlier that I’ll protect her...”

Aki couldn’t catch the last of whatever Tohma had muttered to himself.

Contemplating my answer as I've come to the realization that ships are really just a way to self report on how you view relationships or how yours are in real life (is that just me?)...

Suffice it to say, I generally like ships that are a leetle antagonistic in jest, but are warm and fuzzy at the core.. generally. Unsurprisingly, a lot of the ships I love most are also featured on this list of recs. Thank you for asking, I'd love to hear about what ships you'd recommend as I'm always looking for something new to obsess over. In no particular order:

A Special Place In My Heart

Inclusion of the ship may not necessarily be a gold seal of recommendation for the source material so.. grain of salt.

Kyouko Hori & Izumi Miyamura, Horimiya - innocent and navigating the obstacles of coming of age. They each get a sense of redemption (just looks a bit different) but also they are silly and comfortable.

Shuumei Sasaki & Yoshikazu Miyano, Sasaki and Miyano - genuinely? Earnest Gentle x Considerate Gentle but also funny. Butterflies and second hand embarrassment, just what you'd expect from falling in love in high school.

Narumi Momose & Hirotaka Nifuji, Wotakoi: Love is Hard for Otaku - because of course. Authentic acceptance of one's shameful quirks and hobbies even if it isn't readily apparent that one of them has been invested a whole lot longer than the other.

Ranma Saotome & Akane Tendou, Ranma 1/2 - don't judge me, I was young, immature even. Tsundere x tsundere will have you fighting for your life on that "will they, won't they" ledge. If you haven't seen it, think Inuyasha & Kagome (same mangaka and Ian Cox voices Ranma in later seasons and goes on to voice Inuyasha).

Miaka Yuuki & Tamahome, Fushigi Yugi: The Mysterious Play - she won.

Tatsu & Miku, The Way of the Househusband - not a ship but a fact of life.

Hayase Nagatoro & Naoto Hachiouji, Don't Toy With Me, Miss Nagatoro - ... another "don't judge me" inclusion. These two are "pause the show to recover from second hand embarrassment" but so am I.

Gugu & Rean Cropp, To Your Eternity - because first and foremost, I'm a sad bitch and their story accomplishes more in like.. a few episodes than some ships do in an entire series.

A Special Place in My Festering Lizard Brain

Generally, I post more about these ships because, in my head, their stories are incomplete or, more likely, tragic and deserving of remediation.

Kojiro Nanjo & Kaoru Sakurayashiki, SK8 the Infinity - if not ship, why ship shaped? It's the banter, baby.

Satoru Gojo & Suguru Geto, Jujutsu Kaisen - Gojo's last warm spring of youth was my last warm spring of youth.

Aslan Jade Callenreese & Eiji Okumura, Banana Fish - shhh, we can fix what canon broke.

Katsuki Bakugo & Izuku Midoriya, My Hero Academia - this ship is about to be canon as hell, so help me.

I have been having feels about Japanese voice actors lately, so let me bring to your attention that MFB actually has an INCREDIBLE og cast:

Tsuda Kenjirou as Ryuuga

Even if you’ve watched only a few anime or played only a few Japanese games, I strongly believe you have heard this voice. This guy is honestly one of the most respected voice actors in Japan. His distinctive low voice is SO characteristic, it’s a perfect pick for Ryuuga. I could go on and on how sexy he sounds, but let’s keep it family friendly.

Koyasu Takehito as Daidouji

This guy is so known for his villain roles, you just can’t mistake him for anyone else. There’s no better voice for Daidouji.

Hino Satoshi as Tategami Kyouya

Another very popular actor, this role seems to be a bit different than what he’s usually cast as. I really enjoy the way he portrayed the fierceness and fearlessness in Kyouya.

Irino Miyu as Ootori Tsubasa

One of my personal favourite voices ever, he’s very good at portraying calm and collected characters, but also incredibly skilled at shoving their inner turmoil and eventual breakdowns. I wish he was more active in the industry at the moment!

Inoue Marina as Hasama Hikaru

Usually known for more girly roles, Hikaru revealed another, lower layer to her voice. I really enjoy that type of character and she delivered her performance perfectly. Wish she did more roles like this one.

Hayami Shou as Hagane Ryuusei

Another legend who doesn’t need to be introduced. I feel like his performance, even he doesn’t appear in the majority of the episodes, adds a sense of professionalism to every scene he’s in. It’s also a great choice to have him as the narrator in the intro.

Kakihara Tetsuya as Hyouma

He’s mostly known for boyish roles and while Hyouma does fit that criteria, the hidden layer of fake politeness is incredibly fun to listen to. I really enjoyed this performance and it’s a shame he got so little screentime.

Ishida Akira as Ooike Tobio

The legend of all legends. The man can single-handedly perform a skit starring a family of seven! Needless to say, I was delighted to hear him as Tobio. It’s such a fun role and again, I wish he got more dialogue because it’s just SO GOOD to listen to.

Yuuki Hiro as Fukami Ryuutarou

Not only an accomplished actor, but also an incredible singer. His distinctive voice is a perfect pick for Ryuutarou, especially with the unusual speech pattern that he had to pull off. It resulted in a very unique performance.

Okamoto Nobuhiko as Saotome Teru

One of the most popular actors in the recent years, I feel like Teru is one of those roles that you don’t immediately recognise because the actor changes his voice THAT MUCH. It only proves how versatile he can be.

Hatano Wataru as Wang Da Xiang

You might know him from several recent anime, he’s not typically what you have in mind when you think of a “competitive guy focused on upholding a long tradition”. Which is why I think subverting the expectations worked great and giving Da Xiang a rather calm voice was a great choice overall.

Takahashi Hiroki as Zhou Xing (Chao Xin)

Another calm voice in a “not-so-calm” role. He performed Zhou Xing’s childishness and carefreeness so naturally, and yet so different from his normal tone!

Hosoya Yoshimasa as Wells

Another personal favourite, he’s such a sweet guy and yet he possesses one of the MANLIEST voices in the industry. He can perform both goofs and serious guys, but it’s the latter that has such an incredible impact. Naturally, his voice suits Wells like none other.

Yonaga Tsubasa as Demure

You might know him from “cute boy” roles, so it’s really refreshing to hear him in a more challenging role. I really enjoy his composed performance!

Sugiyama Noriaki as Blader DJ

And last but not least, another legendary actor. While DJ might not be a “character” per se, it’s such an important role! I absolutely love his voice. Fun fact, he also voiced the DJ in the og series of Beyblade.

Of course this is only a fraction of the actors performing in MFB but I’ve listed those I’m most familiar with. I just wanted to emphasise they are the some of the most well-respected and popular voice actors in their field - not quite what you’d expect from a show made to advertise toys :)

World Trigger the Stage: Large-Scale Invasion Arc is set to be performed at Shinagawa Prince Hotel Stellar Ball in Tokyo from August 5 to 14, 2022, and at the Kyoto-Gekijo theater in Kyoto from August 19 to 21. Its story is based on the manga's fourth arc of the same name. After advance sales from may 13 to June 19, general sales of the tickets will begin on July 2.

Misao Novel Chapter 10

Everyone ran into the library on the east side of the school on the second floor of the main building. Aki thought about going downstairs and trying the front door, but decided against it.

It would probably be closed like the other doors anyway, and it would be troublesome if that creepy guy followed them.

That was why Aki chose the library, as hiding was her first priority. It had a sturdy door.

Aki locked the door behind them as they all panted and gasped for breath. The library wasn’t a huge distance from the area they’d been at, but they’d ran with all their might.

She turned, noting that the library was also dimly lit. Due to the earthquake, the book shelves had collapsed and stacked like dominoes, with books scattered all around the library.

Kudoh looked out the window to confirm they weren’t followed.

“What was that creep..?!” Tohma gasped. “Did he kill Shirai?!”

“But he didn’t have a weapon.”

“He could have left it somewhere. Was there anyone else around other than him?”

“It was as if he wasn’t even alive, though.” Aki said, wiping her hands on her handkerchief. She was finally able to express the impressions of the man who’d grabbed her earlier. His hands had been freezing, and his skin didn’t feel like normal skin. It came off and stuck to her hand. “Crap, this handkerchief is already dirty!” she complained, throwing it in the trash.

“It was like a zombie.” Kudoh said.

“Zombie?” Tohma frowned. “But there’s no such thing.”

“But it was a corpse with cold hands with skin that peeled off easily.”

“H-hold on for a minute!” Yoshino suddenly gasped loudly.

“What’s wrong?” Tohma asked.

“What about Aikawa and Konno?! Where did they go?!”

“Eh?”

Aki didn’t notice until Yoshino said something, but Aikawa and Konno weren’t around. They seemed to have separated at some point while they were running.

“Did no one see them?”

“It’s too late...we can’t afford to look for them now.” Kudoh said apologetically.

“That’s bullshit, you’re making excuses!” Yoshino shouted.

“Shut up!” Tohma snapped at her. “If anything, you’re the one who should have noticed them separate. You’re their friend, aren’t you?!”

The two glared at each other, before Yoshino swore under her breath.

Those two were Yoshino’s friends, so Aki understood she was frustrated, but they had ran off on their own. They couldn’t be blamed.

“...That guy seems pretty slow, so I think it’d be fine if they ran away. There’s another corridor on the side where the science lab is, so they can cut to the main building from there..." Kudoh said to comfort her.

“Tohma, what are we gonna do now? We can’t just sit here, right?” Saotome asked.

“It’ll be fine, Otome! I’ll keep you safe no matter what happens.” Tohma said confidently.

“Really?”

“Really!”

“At least that guy was pretty slow and doesn’t seem to realize we’re here.” Kudoh said. “I think we’re safe.”

“Why...why are we going through this?” Yoshino trembled. “It really is because of the curse of Misao.”

“Again with the curse of Misao shit...” Tohma sighed tiredly. As he muttered that, a new voice joined in.

“Yet, it is probably correct.”

Aki turned in surprise, seeing a tall man standing nearby with a teacup. He was bald with a black tie and a white shirt and a black vest. He had a sharp face and thin eyebrows, with narrow eyes and thin ears. He had a mysterious air to him, and his eye color too seemed to be red.

He looked to be maybe in his twenties or thirties, but it was hard to tell. Not that it mattered, age wasn’t of big importance right now.

He didn’t seem like a suspicious person, and he wasn’t all bloody. But he was still a stranger.

“My name is Onigawara, and I’m a librarian here.”

“A librarian?” Aki had never seen him before, even though she’s stopped by the library a few times. He didn’t even have a name pin on him.

He did have a good smile though.

“As the librarian, I am the one who collects and organizes books in the library and provides information to users. I’ve only recently been assigned to this position in July, so I don't know many of the students."

Onigawara then described his situation. He was working in the library as usual, when a big earthquake hit and he passed out. When he regained consciousness, he found his surroundings strange. There were no students or teachers in sight, and he couldn't go outside. It was supposed to be daytime, but it was dimly lit, and the air felt strange.

Since he couldn’t do anything about it, he tried to clean up the cluttered mess in the time being, but it was so cluttered that he didn’t know where to start, so he just made himself a cup of tea.

As his situation was similar to theirs, Aki told him about their situation, including how Shirai was killed and the creepy man.

“Is that so...”

“So does this mean we can’t even go outside?” Ayaka asked. She seemed a bit sick earlier, but she appeared to be a bit better, being slightly more lively.

Onigawara nodded.

“Tohma, what should we do?” Saotome asked nervously.

“...What did you mean by it was probably correct, earlier?” Tohma asked Onigawara in a quiet tone.

That was right, he had said that...

“This curse has brought upon the monsters.” Onigawara answered Tohma’s question like it was nothing.

“Eh-?!” Everyone shouted.

A monster?

Everyone looked worried, but also not completely serious, as the word had come from an adult.

“As it is, I suppose that since the school is how it is right now, the entire school had been swallowed by another world.”

“Another...what...what’s that..?!” Tohma gasped.

“Another world...that means a world that is different from our world. It is something outside of our own perception. It is a world created by those who have strong feelings to the world as a spirit. They had been swallowed up by that world. It must have been caused by that earthquake.”

"Don’t say things that don’t make sense!”

"It’s simple, really. I study folklore, and I know about some of these cases. For example, you may have heard these old stories. A poor family went into the mountains to gather wild vegetables and found a magnificent house deep in the mountains. The garden was full of flowers and many livestock were kept there. When they entered the house, they found expensive tableware laid out on the floor and hot water boiling as if people had been living in the house until then. When he told this to the other villagers, no one believed him, but one day, while washing dishes in the river, a bowl came down from upstream. The mansion deep in the mountains in this folktale is, in other words, another world created by the desire to escape from a life of poverty. The Dragon's Palace of Urashima Taro is a similar story. The content of the tale often changes as it is passed down from person to person, and it often bears no resemblance to the original fact.”

“But this isn’t the same thing!” Tohma argued. “We’re trapped. Shirai was killed, and we ran away from a creepy old man. Where’s our riches, then?”

“Unfortunately, there won’t be any. Thoughts are not always favorable. There are also negative thoughts. In fact, you could say there are more of them. Fear, regret, sorrow, anger...well, there are a lot of them, but in this case, it would be thoughts. This frightening and mysterious atmosphere...this feeling that clings to the skin, is a distressing one for the feelings. And now you are trapped in this school building, in a dangerous situation. This kind of act, in which a person tries to make a specific object suffer misfortune because of a grudge, is generally called a curse.”

"You mean to say we’re in this because of the curse of Misao?!” Yoshino squirmed, staring at him.

“Why do you think it’s from her specifically?” Onigawara asked her.

“There...were rumors from before.” Yoshino looked away.

“It could be right. I don’t know who the curse is from, but if you are aware of it, then this may be the closest thing to a correct answer.”

“Onigawara-san, you mentioned specifics earlier. Are there other people too?” Kudoh asked.

“It’s someone in the school.” Onigawara answered briefly.

“Did you check around yourself?” Tohma asked. “Aren’t you just contradicting yourself?”

“Other people are in the same school that we are in, or perhaps it would be more accurate to say that they are in a school that overlaps with this school. There is no earthquake, and classes are going on as usual.”

“Huh?”

“The school we are in is overlapping with another. We’re basically simply in the same school.”

“I don’t get what you mean...”

“You know what they call holography, right? The technology allows you to see a different image if you look at it from a different angle. It is like that. From one angle you see the school we are in, from another angle you see the school where other people are, and in that way the same school, slightly different, exists in the same place. The other world cuts a certain area out of the world and makes that part of the world a hologram, so to speak. Holography usually occurs in a situation like the one we are in now. The reason it is so hard to find people who have been hidden is that they only exist in the same place in the first place.”

“So it’s like a parallel world?” Ayaka asked, having been listening intently.

“That would be another term for it.”

“I don’t know a lot about this sort of thing.” Tohma said. “But you said you know a lot, right? So do you know how to get back to our school?”

“Returning to your school isn’t correct. You are in your school.”

“How annoying. You know what I mean without me being accurate. How do we get out of here?”

“Getting out isn’t essential. Even if you leave this school building, the situation won’t be resolved. The original school isn’t physically far, but it is beyond our dimension.”

“I really don’t get this whole thing...” Tohma muttered, scratching his head.

Suddenly, the door to the library rattled.

“Heek!” Tohma jumped in surprised.

“I-it can’t be...that guy chased us here?!” Saotome paled.

“Ah, did you lock it?” Onigawara walked over to the door.

“H-hey, stop!” Tohma shouted.

Onigawara ignored him and unlocked it, opening it for someone to come in.

“Onigawara-san, that was terrible of you to lock that!” A female student gasped.

She had glasses on, and long hair that was tied behind her back. She seemed somber, but also very my-pace.

“Did you want me to be eaten by a demon?” She continued, dissatisfied.

“My apologies. But I wasn’t the one who locked it.”

“Eh, who are you?” Tohma asked the girl.

“Huh?” The girl looked over at Tohma with a frightened gaze.

“She’s a third year who stays in the library at this school.” Onigawara introduced.

“If you’re not new here, I guess you’re already used to the school.” Kudoh said.

“Her name is Miss Library, as she’s always holed up in the library. Miss Library, how’s the school looking?”

“It’s a mess! Everywhere’s a wreck because of the earthquake, and the desks and shelves are all collapsed! I checked everywhere, but none of the exit doors open!” The girl said all at once. “And there’s evil spirits haunting the place! I saw a person die on the stairs!”

“Hey, you mentioned evil spirits...what do you mean by that?” Yoshino asked, staring at her.

“Huh?” Miss Library looked scared.

“The power of the curse has attracted the wandering spirits and caused them to materialize. Spirits are usually insubstantial, translucent beings, but evil spirits are given physical bodies by the power of the curse and act under the influence of the will of the one who curses them. It is called a materialization phenomenon...well, a body is like a corpse. It is this evil spirit, not a human being, that attacked you earlier. The term monster is not correct.” Onigawara answered for her.

Aki recalled the unpleasant sensation on her hand. It felt right to say that it hadn’t been a living thing.

After finishing his explanation, Onigawara turned to Miss Library. “You may rest now.”

“Then I’m going to the back! If you need me for anything, just let me know~☆“ She turned to leave.

“Hey, hold on.” Yoshino stopped her. “Did you see Aikawa and Konno anywhere?”

“I did not see anyone alive.”

“Anyone other than that guy.” After that, Miss Library hurried off, likely intimidated by Yoshino.

“Was it an evil spirit who killed Shirai?” Tohma asked Onigawara.

“I haven’t seen the scene, but it would seem so.”

“Is it really true we’re in a different world where evil spirits lurk?”

“The situation we are in is more than enough proof. You know that that was not a normal earthquake, right?”

After being told that, Aki kept her mouth shut. She couldn’t argue, especially since she had a feeling Onigawara wasn’t lying. They were like on the same wavelength. She didn’t simply understand his words, but she felt as though he was almost the same as her.

“Well, it doesn’t matter anyway. That glasses chick interrupted us earlier, but how do we get back?” Tohma asked bullishly.

“It’s easy. You got sucked into here from the power of the curse, so you simply have to break the curse to go back.”

“How do we break a curse?”

“I don’t know the specific method of doing so. After all, I’m not sure who the curse belongs to. Only you know what to do, because you were chosen.”

How to get rid of Misao’s curse? So basically...how would they clear up Misao’s grudge?

After a moment, Aki spoke.

“So...we have to find out who all Misao-chan has a grudge against and have them apologize?”

“...That might be the case.” Onigawara’s expression was almost warm and meaningful.

"But even so, Aki, where is Misao-chan?” Ayaka asked.

"She’s dead, isn’t she? Even the teacher was talking about her likely not being alive anymore.” Yoshino stiffened.

“It’s just a rumor.” Aki told Yoshino. There was no evidence.

“Then where is she?”

“I don’t know. But she has to be somewhere.”

She wanted to get in touch with Misao again.

“She’s likely somewhere in the school.” Onigawara said.

“Eh, is that true?” Aki asked, stunned.

“Yes. The power of the curse gets stronger as you close more distance. Such a strong curse caused the earthquake and swallowed the whole school into another world. If you weren’t close, she would not have exerted this much power.”

“Then...Misao-chan is alive..!”

“Aki-san. Did you not hear it?” Onigawara’s eyes narrowed. He seemed to have sensed something about her too.

Then Aki remembered the time she left her house, and the music room, and at the time of the earthquake.

“Yeah. I heard Misao-chan’s voice. She was saying to...find her.”

“Misao...said that?” Kudoh glanced at her.

“I never heard her.” Tohma said.

Misao was asking for help. Aki knew it. She knew she had to help Misao. She’d been speaking to her.

“I’m going to look for Misao-chan!”

She didn’t know where she was, or where she would be, but she would find her. And this time, ask her to be her friend.

Aki was surprised when Yoshino agreed with her words.

"I don't know what happened to her, but I think it’s fair to say she wouldn’t have a grudge on you. If you find Misao and beat her up, it should solve everything.”

Her idea was different from Aki’s, but she decided not to dwell on it.

“Evil spirits are roaming the school. Are you sure you wish to go?”

“I’m going. Misao-chan is my classmate.” She couldn’t say friend. She didn’t have the right to.

“Be careful, then. Even if you can’t see the evil spirits, they’re still lurking.”

“Yeah.” Aki turned.
