Hermit Hunters Gang I absolutely adore the fact that Iskall is running vaults with his Elytra

Because 1. That’s a banger art idea and I’m gonna draw it once I learn to draw 😂

And 2. He went down to half a heart in the vault he ran with Etho and anyone who’s ever watched Iskall play Vault Hunters knows for a fact that even if he dies due to the Wings he is NOT going to give them up until he’s no longer having fun using them in the vaults

And I just love that Iskall will try out insane things in the Vaults just because he can and they bring him joy, that’s why it’s never boring to watch him do vault runs!

And I love the fact that he can do stupid things like that in the vaults to make early game still a challenge for himself whilst he tries to stay at a similar level to the other hermits because risking death for his own entertainment AND for the sake of the other Hunters is just such a Iskall thing to do!!!

no E Clown minecrafters seem to know Why or How the dsmp and other minecraft smps like hermitcraft got so Big. like they dont GET IT. especially most of the dsmp members dont seem to Understand

like. they did (and still do, in the hermits' case) really fuckin good because it wasnt about making that Huge Popular Server. it starts with jus wantin to have a place a bunch of friends could play on. it doesnt start with dozens of popular clowns and huge overarching stories and Drama. it was fun and entertaining to viewers jus cuz it was people having fun together. the fanfare and drama and acting can come next but its NOT integral.

I hate seeing these ppl keep comin round w the Next Big smp and having so many motherfuckers join it at once and then it failing and losing attention after 2 days, only for em to try again. like you CANT add a fuckton of ppl who barely know each other into a server jus cuz theyre well known and then expect the same phenomena of the dsmp to happen.

its annoyin as fuck cuz i jus wanna watch some dudes hang out n build shit and stuff. thats what a LOT of people want, and the way the dream smp just become about the Fame and Lore is exactly why it fell apart, too. because these guys cant seem to understand that its about ppl havin fun n hangin out

why hbomb94 should be the next new hermit: no listen this isn't just me being ridiculous listen listen--

okay but like. after today i am ON THIS TRAIN. i am FULLY CONVINCED that hbomb94 would be one of the BEST POSSIBLE CANDIDATES for "new hermit for hermitcraft". and please, just listen to my case for this:

so, after today, i'm fully convinced hbomb is a perfect vibes match for many hermits. he gets along well! he's actually pretty good at staying at hermitcraft levels of pg in videos (like, not swearing--he makes like, the catmaid jokes, but that's nothing worse than whatever ren gets up to on a given day). he's also relatively chill, already friends with a lot of the hermits, and connects well with them on a content creation level. like, he's excited for them, he slots into the bits well, the bits he brings to the table are picked up easily by the other hermits.

and the thing is... okay i KNOW hbomb isn't a huge base builder. i watched vault hunters smp too. but the thing is... he doesn't have to be! you see, there's a certain hermit niche they haven't invited a new hermit into in a while, and that's the niche that someone like joe hills or zedaph (or i'd argue etho or cubfan) occupies. it's the 'weird' niche. i don't think hbomb would be a builder hermit. i don't think he'd be a redstoner either. what he'd be good at is things like... hermits helping hermits! building minigames! have you seen hbomb actually, half of what he did on dsmp or on his main youtube is building minigames and escape rooms. he'd have good vibes! he'd show up to all the events! he'd probably RUN some events!

what he'd be is a new chill, friendly niche hermit, and i think we need more of those? more of the hermits who WON'T be building megabases, but WILL be building games, helping collect resources, and inventing new strange things to do. yes, sure, once again: i know hbomb isn't a builder, and next to someone like joel, that probably puts him out of contention, but... the last two hermits they invited were builders. they need a hype guy. an event guy. another team player. the escape rooms would be ENRICHMENT. it would be wonderful.

plus, i don't think he'd ever stop being a delightful audience insert about the other hermit projects. plus plus, i think he and scar and cub would definitely do a catmaid bit we'd all regret. plus plus plus i think he could do his rant about how weird beetroot is and the hermits would appreciate him for it.

as such i actually think hbomb slots in BEST of the visitors from today as a new hermit. (this is also in part because the empires crew tends to prefer much shorter seasons on their servers than hermitcraft has if they don't want to get bored and the hermits have pretty definitively decided they don't like short seasons. it's also a vibe check. skizz for hermitcraft fans, i am shaking your hand and saluting you, my guy who can't build and your guy who can't build should be hermits who join for similar reasons, we are friends.)

anyway will this actually happen? probably not. but like. listen. for the first time since hbomb hermit adoption arc started this feels VIABLE and i feel the need to make my case for why i want him on because the moment the season rolls over and we start speculating about new hermits this is the guy who has my vote please do you understand now please he'd be so fun--

i love the idea of the lifestealers being a very infamous and distinctive bunch of people in the wider minecraft canon universe: among the many other SMPs, hardcore solo players, creative world builders, ancient hypixel masters, and whatnot, the lifestealers are uniquely unhinged in that they will have the most complicated histories of layered betrayal & mass murder & abandonment & permadeath & marriage & complex polyamorous divorce within themselves, and yet they’ve formed a sort of deep pack bond with each other that exists on a whole unique layer of human relationships and really shows itself when they try to mingle with people from other servers.

like, they’ll participate in an inter-server tournament event with speedrunners and vault hunters and other c!minecrafters who are friends with each other in normal ways such as “we lived close by for a while and shared resources” and then you check the relationship status between two lifestealers and they’ve got convoluted painful queerplatonic history beyond one’s wildest imagination. “who’s that guy on the opposing team you’re cheering for?” “oh just my good friend :]” and the “good friends” in question have previously murdered all their allies together and fallen in love and killed each other and not spoken for two years then moved in together with a pet camel or whatever. idfk. the lifestealers destroy their competition then go back home to continue cooking the worst relationship charts of all time.

the lifestealers would come across to many others as deeply abnormal, especially in longer-term interactions. they’re casually violent and deceptive and used to instability in ways that make them hilariously incompatible with other people. imagine inviting a guest over to your homely neighborhood and they remove the floorboards of every house they enter to check for death traps like it’s just social norm. they pocket 2/3 of your gold and diamonds and also your cobwebs for some reason. their everyday movements like running and striking hold an unnerving efficiency. they don’t really know how to fly. they have zero design sense. they shamelessly won’t engage in long conversation unless something materially valuable is involved. you’re kind of scared they’ll do permanent damage to your current home but the implication that there exists a server society in which all these people get together and act like this and it’s normal to them is the most terrifying thing of all

I don’t have much but just…

The reason Iskall hasn’t been on HC for some time is not because he’s been on vault hunters.

No. He tried to get in but the portal to the server keeps flinging him back in time to different servers. Empires, dmsp, qsmp, last life, third life, rats smp (or what is was called) and so on

He was trying to leave Evo when he heard Grian asking the server in a meeting if they wanted to mess with Doc. He is now able to get back into HC

of course the only reason the portal pulled him back was to ensure the prank went through! doc has been pushing the world to its limits with his world-breaking redstone. iskall gonna get pushed out of the world soon though, he is still on mandatory vacation (as declared by the world).

hello, just binged the entirety of your tubbassador au in one go, and first and foremost i would like to give you my sincerest of thanks for conceiving this beautiful idea in the first place! second of all, I'd like to ask if Vault Hunters (Iskall's brain child) is canon to this universe, considering that MCC and 3rd/Last Life are. It's already known that players can travel back and forth between worlds after all (think Etho's solo world, Philza's hardcore world, etc)

Thank you!! I'm glad you've enjoyed it :] It depends on whether you're talking about the multiplayer Vault Hunters server, or Iskall's private series. The single player world is very canon - I like to think of it like a vacation home, kind of. The multiplayer server I think would be canon but would only begin after the events of the server to avoid going against what's been pre-established.

Tubbo's never known much other than the Dream SMP and MCC so the concept of more intense mods are really exciting to him. Takes no convincing to get him on Vault Hunters especially with how much he already likes Iskall. New game mechanics and time with one of his favorite Hermits? No brainer!

i for one think we should follow Rendog’s example and make more servers canon to everyone’s lore, because it’s funnier that way.

Big Dig and Vault Hunters are canon to Tubbo. Tommy’s collab youtube server is canon to everyone involved. dsmp!Jack had a vacation spot in 30 Days SMP. Every month everyone gets together and beats the shit out of each other and then half of them never speak of it again. YHS, Evo, Hermitcraft, Life series, and that one time he toured Empires are all canon to Grian. He’s a bird he’s a cod he’s got a gun he’s a demigod he’s also legally a lord and on tuesdays and fridays he throws parties on his murder server.

Okay so first one. Herobrine haunting hermitcraft. So my idea was like - HC has a lot of old school and new school minecrafters playing together, which i distinguish from each other entirely based on vibes. Like, grian, mumbo, pearl, gem, team zit - they all feel more new school to me whereas like scar, keralis, cleo, joe, beef, etho, bdubs all feel more old school - sometimes because theyve played mc for a long time and sometimes just kind of because. ignore this - the only real important thing is that I think the more 'old school' players are familiar with herobrine as a concept in this au [I think all of the hermitcrafts probably know about herobrine irl so] whereas if the new schoolers know about herobrine at all it's as like, a ghost story. A myth.

So herobrine possessing the server and the hermits having to band together to defeat him and get their server back. And like, Herobrine goes from old school to new school mechanics. He adapts, learns to use a shield, can critical hit, all that jazz. thats all I have for this one but. uh. god. I love herobrine <- has been familiar w minecraft since infdev.

THEN there's my Vault Hunters based AU that's Polytechs that I...need to actually play vault hunters to PROPERLY right but the idea is - Iskall is a Vault Hunter and Mumbo and Grian alike. His basemates. He goes out and hunts vaults, they do everything to keep he base running so that he can keep going out to hunt vaults. Mumbo and Iskall designed the redstone and mechanical contraptions in the base together, Grian built the base around it - and they sometimes help out by reading maps to him over communicators, or prepping for him to come back hard. And I have this basic idea that something is like, threatening their world and that's why Iskall needs the vault artifacts - I have this idea that Poltechs is in one world bubble, the Create guys are in another world bubble, and then Imp and Skizz's skyblock is another world bubble. There are other vault Hunters [AKA the people on the VH SMP which i DESPERATELY want to watch oh my god,,,] unknowingly working against Iskall. Iskall maybe had a sort of Matrix-saw-outside-the-bubble moment where he realized they're all being like puppeted to be distracted from like, a world eater or something so its Polytechs save the day w VH mechanics.

THIS ONE,,,,, IS MORE A CONCEPT THAN AN IDEA BUT Etho & Mumbo & Xisuma as Old Gods - Herobrine, basically, with Grian & Pearl & Jimmy as New Gods - the watchers, and Iskall as like The Creator

Also I have a treebark like. darkish romance beauty and the beast meets buzzfeed unsolved style idea where, basically. Martyn can see ghosts but not really interact with them. He doesn't know how to get rid of it, he's gotten used to it. Ren is a werewolf King who has some sort of violent entity haunting his castle. He kidnaps Martyn because he hears as far as 'Martyn can see ghosts' and decides that can probably help. Martyn, again, doesnt know how to get rid of them but also the one is Ren's castle is weird because it can talk to him and interact with him and it looks kind of like Ren and huh- and basically. Basically. The two of them trying to stop this violent entity that swears it knows Ren, slowly but surely falling in love.

Vault Hunters Season 2 is coming to a close, with a few weeks left until the final vault. Now I wonder what new players we will encounter in Season 3. The possibilities are endless!

In the 2nd vault podcast, Iskall said that we would be seeing "a couple of new people" - so I will be listing a few guesses for new players!

Quig - A well known Minecraft streamer and MCC player - has teamed and probably still has connections with HBomb. Also has interacted with Iskall before, and has sent a twitter last year telling Iskall to check his DMs, not to mention a random interaction this february (literally both of them saying hi to each other). Also also, has shown interest in VH before. Would be a pog addition if you ask me. This is my main guess.

Antfrost - A well known Minecraft streamer and MCC player, and a member of the Dream smp. The key here is that Ant is in the Forgotten Lands VH server. Also, has played with Sparklez, HBomb, 5up and Tubbo in MCC (and in other content). This is my 2nd guess.

Fulham - A well known Minecraft streamer and speedrunner, and member of the group "hbg". Being part of the same group, has great connections with Pete. Also, Fulham played in a twitch rivals with Iskall, Pete and Sparklez. This is my 3rd guess.

I will assume a couple means a maximum of 3 players, so these were my predictions! Don't think more than 3 players, at least at the start of a season, is realistic.

alright! so, vault hunters! this is the modpack/unique mod that goes with the pack that iskall and his dev team are developing! the game is designed to be somewhat like an RPG level progression system and skill tree has been added to minecraft, as well as a roguelike dungeon system.

at the beginning, it's basically just regular minecraft with a few extra skills you've chosen and weaker armor. however, after you beat the ender dragon and get access to end materials, you can build your vault altar and vault portal, and visit the vaults, and start vault hunters proper! you "win" vault hunters, progression-wise, once you collect all 25 artifacts from the vaults and complete the "final vault" at the end of the modpack.

the vault is basically a roguelike dungeon. you cannot heal without using healing potions in the vault, and your goal is to get as much loot from the vault as you can, as well as find the obelisks and beat the boss to escape. (you can also choose to bail a vault if you don't think you can beat the boss, which is often what happens instead if the vault isn't locked. however, you need to defeat the boss to gain experience and get a chance at getting an artifact.) the vault is full of special vault gems, vault gear (which is funky armor with lots of different bonus effects), unique loot, the things you need to get points to unlock mods, and more. as you finish vaults, you'll gain items to help you level up, be able to get new skills, eventually start unlocking mods, etc.

there's also some like, background lore about the existence of the four vault gods, which i often rotate in my head, but also which is mostly background details to make the world of the modpack more interesting. the 'vault gods' refers interchangeably to the four characters who you gain favor with - idonna, wendarr, tenos, and velara - and to the devs of the modpack. (this puts iskall in an interesting position, given that he both plays the modpack and is in charge of dev. also, douwsky specifically is normally referred to as the janitor instead of a vault god.)

the vault hunters smp is a related thing. we're about to get season 3. it serves both as the beta testing ground for the vault hunters modpack and as a fun smp to watch some creators play on! i do not know exactly what set of people will be in S3; presumably hbomb, iskall, and captain sparklez will be there, as they all played on the original server pretty religiously. i would be surprised if pete isn't around again, stressmonster is doing a whole bootcamp series so she's definitely going to be around again, and tubbo is apparently the one who leaked the date (lol) so he may be trying to be more active in S3 than he was in S2. i'd be surprised if antonioash wasn't there as well he was also pretty dang active. uh. i'm not good at names so i'm DEFINITELY forgetting people who may be around in S3 but we will find out for sure when it comes out.

S3 will be the 1.18 version of vault hunters, which will be fun! additionally, it, like the previous two seasons, will presumably contain the twitch integration that went with progression in the SMP version of the modpack. (the public release does not have this integration.) it allowed viewers to end up involved in how things worked, and personally i thought it was pretty fun. stuff like "people who sub/gift subs getting statues" or sub fighters or basically anywhere there are skins present in the public release, there was some twitch integration element in the private, SMP version.

it's worth noting that S3/the 1.18 version of vault hunters is expected to have some pretty major changes from S2/the current public modpack in 1.16, as it's somewhat more of a 'sequel' than something you're expected to update your current worlds to. so i'm excited to see that!

the fastest way to figure it out if this doesn't explain it well for you would probably be to watch someone play in singleplayer, although that won't have the twitch integration stuff, so if you want to watch someone, here is iskall doing a playthrough (he knows what he's doing very well), here is welsknight doing a playthrough (he does NOT know what he's doing and it's relatable), and here's stressmonster doing a playthrough (somewhere between those two poles)!

Been thinking a lot about the Life series again and who I'd think might join (or who I'd want to join) and here they are from most to least likely!

FWhip: Known hardcore player and friends with pretty much everyone on the server. Like playing on servers and also murder.

Cubfan135: Known UHC enjoyer (when playing with hermitfriends) and good at them! Enjoys just playing Minecraft, causing problems, and is also competitive. Is currently only really doing Hermitpires and speedrunning so he could commit.

MythicalSausage: Pretty much the same reasons as FWhip. Slightly less likely to join purely because I feel like his skirting of PG miiight give some of them an aneurysm.

FalseSymmetry: Same points as Cub but because she's not only fully committed to Hermitcraft and Empires, but also Vault Hunters season 3. I do want to see her play something UHC styled again. I watched back some of her old UHCs and damn 😳

OwengeJuice: He's got the Rats SMP connections, he was on Empires that one time, I believe in the power of Owen! Also please Scott would have so much fun messing with him.

GeminiTay: She, like False, has multiple series going on but also I would love to see more GeminiSlay. Can you blame me??? Also do not separate the Wither Rose alliance they would be so cool as a team I can't even express it properly.

HBomb94: This is NOT copium. Anyways, he's the guy with probably the second most connections in the Minecraft sphere other than Scott. He's played with so many of them before and only really has Vault Hunters going on at the moment. Imagine the H factor in an all-out Life series war. We all need to see it happen.

WilburSoot: Unlikely but hear me out. He's a Grian fan and has teamed with Grian before. Not so cracked at Minecraft that he'd immediately be ruled out and has enough time to record Tommy mod videos so theoretically would have the time for this. Would he start some sort of deranged cult? Yes. But he's toned down the swearing so it wouldn't be a problem! He's practiced being PG!!!

HannahXXRose: Okay, so she only really knows Pearl and Scott (and also Lizzie!) but she raided X that one time! I know he isn't on the Life server but it counts! Same with False, she has old UHC content that still goes so hard and imagine her. Please we need a girlboss team. She could do it single-handedly but she wouldn't and that's so cool of her.

Blushi: She's a cracked player, also watching BDubs and Impulse try and use their MCC connections to keep her as a teammate would be so funny. "She's our teammate! Move along now 😤".

FireBreathMan: Okay, same reason as Blushi but also I would watch him have a 10 hour karaoke after every kill and so would everyone else.

Aimsey: Friends with Scott and Pearl and I don't really have a reason other than it would be really funny to make him play in a Life series.

YeahJaron & Baconnwaffles0: YeahJaron has the endurance and ingenuity to pull off superflat superhuman feats and Baconnwaffles0 is no stranger to the grindset either. They don't know anyone on the Lifeseries but Jaron is a Grian fan and Baconnwaffles0 has 'waffle' in his name??? This is pure fantasy but please they would do so well. They'd go from Lifesteal zeros to Life series heroes! Also they're not zeros in my eyes but the point still stands.

Planetlord: Look. The Planetlord effect has been known to work on Lifesteal twitch chat. What would the Planetlord effect do on the Life series? Every day is a slay for them so they'd fit right in! He doesn't even swear much so Grian's delicate sensibilities wouldn't be offended. Please let him in please I'll do anything I want them in so bad Grian please-
