I think my favorite interpretation of the relationship between Sesshomaru’s parents was that they liked each other, if you asked them they’d say sure they love each other, but they weren’t exclusive. Inu no Taisho had lovers. Inukimi had lovers. Inu no Taisho told her about his relationship with Izayoi and how wonderful Izayoi is, and Inukimi was amused. Sesshomaru knows his parents had other partners besides each other too - it’s just that he was disgusted that his father would engage with a human that way
