Talking with Siobhan Fallon Hogan

One of the most criminally underrated indie films of this year was Rushed. Released by Vertical Entertainment in August, it got a limited release and is now available on multiple digital platforms. What got my attention about this film was the star Siobhan Fallon Hogan, who also wrote and produced the film. As the mother of a college student who is the victim of fraternity hazing, she packs so much into this extraordinary performance.

Fallon Hogan has been popping up in so many areas of pop culture for the last three decades. She’s had supporting roles in a lot of movies and TV, but I’m a fan because she has been a part of two of my lifelong obsessions: SNL: She was a cast member of SNL during the 1991-92 season, and Seinfeld: She appeared on several episodes between 1991 and 1994 as Tina, Elaine’s annoying roommate. She’s also had supporting roles in a ton of noteworthy films like Forrest Gump, Men In Black, and Boiler Room. After a number of films with Lars Von Trier, she has shown her dramatic skills more as well. Rushed was a labor of love for her and it shows.

I recently caught up with Ms. Fallon Hogan via Zoom to discuss Rushed. She was very cool and super generous with her time.

Me: In addition to this extraordinary performance (I’m not even just saying that) you were also the producer and the screenwriter of this film. How did this come about?

SFH: Well, you know, I’ve been an actress for a hundred years and whenever I had a lull in my career, I’d always do a one-woman show. Starting in my late 20s, because casting people would always tell me “you’re really going to come into your own in your late 30s and 40s” and I was like, oh-my-gosh, I can’t wait that long. So I would do these one-person shows and film people would come, TV people would come. That’s how I first got on Saturday Night Live. Then after I had three kids, I did another show after people had kinda forgotten about me a little bit.

So anyways, about three and a half years ago, I said to myself I should do another one woman show. But I asked, if I can do a one-person show, why can’t I write a movie? Because its so much pressure to do a one-person show. So I thought, I’ve done enough movies that I’ll give myself a shot at writing a film. I have three kids now they’re 26, 23 and 20. At the time it was three and a half years ago. So it just came from a mom lying in bed worried sick about her kids when they go out at night, you have this thing of texting them saying “hey, are you okay?”. So that’s where the story originated from. When I finished writing it, I sent it to Lars Von Trier (who I’d done three films with) to his company in Denmark. The producer read it and said “Siobhan we really love this, we would like to co-produce”. So then, the story behind the story is, all the people I had worked with over the years, I called in all my favors. I talked to Robert Patrick who I had worked with many many times over the years. He read it and said “I love the part, I’ll play your husband”. So then I knew when certain people said they loved it, I had something: Peri Gilpin from Frasier, Jake Weary (I worked with him when he was 19), and all these people I said to them “I’m doing this independent film, you’ll make about $2.50 a week. You want to be a part of it?” And they were like “Yes”.

So now I had to produce this and I knew from working in Denmark the European way is “all for one and one for all”. So then I went on Facebook and announced I was doing this movie and wanted to see if anyone could rent a room to crew and I had friends in the town I live in, Rumson, NJ, who said they’d rent a room but were’t going to charge me anything because I’m their friend. I had people who had like four crew members living with them for over a month, which is crazy because its like the circus coming to town. I had people in town bringing meals every night to the crew just to see what was going on on-set. Then when we sold the film to Vertical Entertainment, we had premieres and when you see the film, there’s a lot of scenes with people from my town. Andrew Davis (he directed The Fugitive and he directed me in Holes), he was one of the first people to see it and he said “where did you get those extras?”. I said those are my friends. They were so good! Because extras can ruin an independent film: like that drew my eye out, they’re looking at the camera, they’re not dressed right. My son was in college at the time and he got all his friends to be the frat boys. So that’s how we did it.

Me: It was certainly a labor of love in that your whole family was involved too: your husband Peter was a producer on the film and your kids all worked on this as well. What was it like making a movie with your family?

SFH: Well first of all, when you watch the house in the movie during the big Fraternity initiation, that’s my house. My son Peter and my daughter Sinead came home from school and asked what was going on in the living room, I said I decorated it to look like a frat house. They said that “looks ridiculous, you need to leave and we need to re-do this”. They made that set what it was because they knew what a frat house was like. My daughter Bernadette - she’s actually a reporter for the New York Post and broke the nursing home story about Cuomo - she’s a reporter in the film. She actually got cut. That didn’t hurt family relations because she doesn’t want to be an actress. But yeah, my son Peter played a frat guy, my daughter Sinead played Jake Weary’s girlfriend and my husband Peter produced.

It was awesome because my whole house, the windows were blacked out and my animals were just looking at us like “why are there 200 people here every day?” But it was great. We just wrapped another movie in Upstate New York called Shelter in Solitude. Robert Patrick’s in it again playing a warden, I play a wanna-be country singer, Dan Castellaneta of The Simpsons (he’s a good friend if mine) he’s in it, Peter Macon from The Orville is in it.

I also just want to tell your followers that its so important for independent films like ours even though it was in theaters in August and September and it’s now on Amazon, iTunes - if they watch it and write a review on Rotten Tomatoes or IMDB. People pay attention to that. If one person watched it and then five or ten more rent it, that helps us so much to do the next movie. As you know, on indies, there’s not a lot of cooks in the kitchen. I’ve been on a lot of big budget movies and everyone has a say in the script, but this one I write it and I’m doing it my way.

Me: You mentioned your next film. Between acting, directing and producing, could directing be next for you?

SFH: You know, someone recently sent me a script and asked if I would consider directing it. I never really thought about it, but I do love working with actors. I’ve taught acting, I guess they say “coached”. [Laughs] I’ve had acting classes at my house on and off when I was not working and I love that part of it. Our director was from Denmark, Vibeke Muasya and she was fabulous. But a lot of the times, I would go to the actors, when you have like twenty frat boys in a scene, I’d go up to them and be like “bring it down” or “make it smaller”. We had some fabulous musicians in it, like rapper Fat Nick and these guys haven’t acted before, but they’re excellent and they’re naturals because they’re performers. So the long answer is, yes I’d love to direct. I’ve actually been cast in a big movie that’s starting in January with Anne Hathaway and Thomasin McKenzie based on the book Eileen. The author Ottessa Moshfegh is actually from Boston.

Me: You have had such an eclectic career. Between film, theater, television, and comedy - is there a medium you enjoy the most?

SFH: I love film. Because I love going to films! And I feel like with a film, you get your role and you get to know the beginning, middle and end. When you’re in TV - and believe me I’m not trying to turn my nose up at it - you’re not really sure where the story is going to go or where your character is going to go. That being said, I love stage and I love live audiences because its so fun, you have no idea what’s going to happen. In film, the crew can’t really react until they yell “cut”. There’s something about that that’s so funny to me that you’re doing your scene and you’re going and going and then they yell “cut” and they are either crying or laughing their heads off. Or maybe nothing in between, just doing another take. So I love film the most.

Me: You got your start on SNL during the 1991-92 season. It’s interesting because I recently posted a piece about the November 1991 episode with Macaulay Culkin hosting, because I attended the dress rehearsal of that episode.

SFH: No way!

Me: I was a huge fan of SNL at the time, so that was a big deal. And that was actually an interesting season because you had the older veterans in the cast like Dana Carvey, Phil Hartman and Mike Myers, but you also had the younger cast members like Adam Sandler, Chris Farley and yourself breaking through.

SFH: Yes, that was the year Wayne’s World was released, with Dana [Carvey] who I love. But Adam Sandler, Chris Farley, David Spade they were all really coming into their own. It was really at the height, as it had dipped for a while, but it was crazy how popular it was. I was very good friends with Chris Farley. Adam Sandler’s been unbelievably supportive, so has David Spade. Chris Rock’s a great guy.

A lot of people complain about SNL who do the show, but I always feel completely grateful because it opened so many doors for me. So many casting people for years after I had been on the show would ask me “are you available because I know your schedule with SNL?” and I’m like “Ha! I’m not on it anymore”. But it was great and I’m grateful for the opportunity and the opportunities it made for me.

Me: Have you stayed in touch with your fellow cast mates from that time?

SFH: I’m still in touch with Adam [Sandler] and David [Spade]. Chris [Farley] is gone, but he and I were close. We lived a few blocks from each other, we’re both Catholic and belonged to the same church. We had so much in common, very similar backgrounds. And then Erin Fraser, one of the producers on the film, she was working for Lorne [Michaels] at the time, she was just starting out and then she produced for Lorne and now she’s the producer on this film.

Me: It’s interesting looking at your career, because on SNL one of your popular characters was one of the Delta Delta Delta sorority sisters, which was very much the lighter and funnier side of Greek college life, to now looking at Rushed which is more the darker more serious side of Greek college life with fraternity hazing.

SHF: It’s so bizarre. I didn’t think there was a connection, but I’m not that deep, but maybe there was a connection. I mean every institution can have the great parts to it, and then there’s the dark parts. But it doesn’t have to be that way if people can follow their gut and do the right thing. But that’s a rough thing to do when you’re young. So yeah, it’s a funny juxtaposition between that and Delta Delta Delta. The funny thing was we used to get hate mail at SNL and they’d say [sorority sister voice] “Seriously, can you pick on some other sorority. We’re really being targeted” and it’s so funny. In this day and age, we’d probably be called bullies or something, but back then we just thought it was funny. But we’d get mail [sorority sister voice] “Oh my God its getting so hard to go to parties, people are like mocking us” and we thought it was hilarious. We showed no mercy for those poor girls. It wasn’t mean-spirited, it’s just the way it was.

Me: You also appeared on multiple episodes of Seinfeld as Tina, Elaine’s roommate. That is one of the great sitcom casts in history. What was it like for you to jump in and work with Julia Louis-Dreyfus and the cast?

SFH: Well the funny thing was, at the time I had a one-woman show and I had taken it from New York and brought it out to L.A. I was teaching English as a second language by day and doing the show at night. And they came and saw the show. Then I did a play called American Splendor with Dan Castellaneta, the voice of Homer Simpson and he’s going to be in my new movie, Shelter in Solitude. Jerry Seinfeld and Larry David were big fans of Harvey Pekar, the subject of American Splendor, and I played all the parts. So they were like “audition for us for Seinfeld”. When I auditioned, I basically did this impression of this girl from Upstate New York who was always like [Tina voice] “Heeey, how are you” and I was just like [Tina voice] “Jerry?”, but that was at the beginning of Seinfeld. They didn’t even know there were going to be picked up. So when I got on the show it was the end of the season and they were like “we got a pickup, we got a pickup”. Then by the time I did the last episode it was the one with [Tina voice] “Elaine, stop letting Jehovah’s Witnesses into the building” and there was the one with Kramer and the African dancing, so it was all different stages, but they were at the height by the time I left. But they are the best people! They work so hard and they are so funny, but serious about working hard. It was a huge bonus to my career.

Me: At a certain point in your career, you made the jump to more dramatic roles, notably the films you made with Lars Von Trier. Do you enjoy mixing it up and doing a comedy right after a drama?

SFH: Hey listen - beggars can’t be choosers. A lot of the times you don’t really have a choice in it, it may look like you’re mixing it up, but mostly it’s like “Whew! Thank God that came along!”. I remember in one of Lars Von Trier’s movies Dogville, Lauren Bacall was in it. She and I were walking up this ramp up to the set and she was 82 at the time and she says to me [Lauren Bacall voice] “Siobhan, do you think you and I will ever work again?” At the time I was maybe 40, and you’re thinking “My God, it never ends”. You’re always thinking, “I hope I get another job. I hope this wasn’t the last one”. And a lot of times I have turned stuff down and I’m thinking “I have no business turning this down right now according to my bank account”, but I would, because I kinda work backwards to pick a career I’d be proud of. So to answer your question about mixing it up - I like mixing it up, but sometimes it’s according to what comes along.

Me: In terms of what’s next for you. You mentioned Shelter in Solitude that you just did with your team. Can we expect that soon?

SFH: Yes. We wrapped in October. The film is being edited in France right now by Sabine Emiliani, the same editor we worked with on Rushed. She’s a fabulous French editor, she did March of the Penguins and many great films. They wrapping the first cut and then I am going to France at the end of January for the second and third cut. We should be finished by mid-March.

Top Ten Expensive Transformers

The hiatus is over! Thanks for your patience with last week folks. Something a bit different today Tumblr! Not the long awaited project, but a fun little aside. A while ago, I was scrolling around on Google, and I saw a clickbait article that alleged to discuss ‘the top ten most difficult to obtain Transformers’. I was curious, and, perhaps foolishly, I clicked on it. To my disappointment, the article was merely a list of expensive MISB G1 figures, which is… Well, boring. So, today, I hope to correct that grave injustice with an article about, in a loose order, 10 Transformers that are difficult to obtain, even if you’re willing to lay out a lot of money.

A couple of rules before we jump in; First, these aren’t the most expensive Transformers or the rarest transformers, because those questions don’t really make sense. How much a figure costs varies from seller to seller, so it’s impossible to establish a list of the absolute most expensive. Also, many figures that are famously expensive are not expensive in absolute terms, but for their price point. Similarly, with an exception we’ll discuss in a moment, actual rarity can be quite hard to establish. As far as contents of the list go, Takara Tomy will occasionally create special ‘lucky draw’ figures for contests in magazines and things. How many they produce varies from figure to figure, but it generally is between 50 and 10. These will be excluded from the list, because if they weren’t, the whole list would be lucky draw figures. (Although they’re cool as shit and you should go take a look http://www.luckydrawtransformers.com/) Similarly, there are a ton of figures like Victory Leokaiser that command a lot of money on the secondary market just because they were japanese exclusive. These would also take up a ton of room on the list, so I’m going to avoid them unless there’s a really good reason to have them on here. Same for convention exclusives. Without further ado, let’s get started!

10: Action Master Thundercracker

Normally, when a toy is exclusive to somewhere, it’s Japan. However, as we’ll discuss later, in G1, Europe and other parts of the world saw some strange distribution. (NexusShard17) Towards the end of G1, “the European Hasbro branches continued releasing new toys which the USA would never get.”(NexusShard17) Perhaps the most notorious of these is Action Master Thundercracker, which has one of the most magnificent color schemes ever seen on a transformer. Where Thundercracker is traditionally blue, Action Master Thundercracker is neon pink, lime green, and a bunch of metallic copper paint and baby blue thrown in for good measure. (Geewunling) Because of the exclusivity of the figure, and it’s desirable, awful color scheme, it tends to command quite a bit on the secondary market.

How do I get one?

You can reliably find him on ebay in varying states of completeness, which of course impacts the price. For the figure itself with a few accessories, he goes for around 70-80 dollars, ranging to 150 and up for MISB.

9: Dark of the Moon Wheeljack/Que:

Who?

Wheeljack/Que had a bit part in Dark of the Moon. He was mostly kind of around until he got shot towards the end of the film, for emotions or something. (SFH) He had a toy fully produced, but, when the DOTM line was prematurely axed, Wheeljack’s toy was left in limbo. Takara was eventually able to release Wheeljack in their markets, but he never saw an official US release. (SFH)

How do I get one?

Because the toy did actually see an official release somewhere on the planet, it’s not particularly rare, just expensive for a deluxe. You can generally buy one for around $100 on eBay.

Notes:

This fate is actually fairly common for toys. Most of the final wave of DOTM was eventually released by Takara. Similarly, although much of the tail end of Transformers: Animated was genuinely axed, figures such as Blackout did see release in Japan.(Abates) (And are also quite expensive.) I mostly picked Wheeljack because he’s the one I always think of.

8: Masterforce Browning

Who?

Browning was exclusive to the Japanese G1 line, Super God Masterforce. However, what really makes him difficult to come by is his alternate mode; Browning turns into a Browning M1910 pistol. (TVsGrady) Not only does he turn into a real model of gun, it’s a pretty convincing alt-mode from a distance; no orange safety cap, just sweet sweet chrome the whole figure over. Obviously, this would not fly in today’s toy market, and that makes a reissue of Browning extremely unlikely.

How do I get one?

Between the reissue problem, the fact that his alt-mode is honestly really cool and novel, and his limited, Japanese release, it’s tough to even find an original Browning for sale on Ebay. Even when he is available, he tends to command a clean couple hundred. Your best bet would be dedicated trading forums.

7: Hasbro DOTM Leadfoot

Who?

Much like Wheeljack, Leadfoot had a bit part in DOTM. He showed up for a few scenes with the Wreckers and built a spaceship and made Nascar jokes. Also like Wheeljack, Leadfoot was planned to receive a deluxe class figure, but with the untimely demise of DOTM, it was not to be. Takara did release a version of Leadfoot, and, like Wheeljack, this is expensive, but not unobtainable. What is excruciatingly hard to come by is one of the unreleased Hasbro two-packs of the character, which contained Leadfoot in a different deco from Takara’s, and a deluxe Topspin. Packaged samples are known to exist, but never officially saw release in any market.

How do I get one?

Takara’s Leadfoot generally commands $80-150 on eBay, and you can generally find one or two floating around. If you want the Hasbro deco, well… Good luck. The transformers wiki confirms that there was once one listed on eBay.(MSipher) Now, nine years after DOTM, your best bet would be to know someone, to know someone who knows someone, or to have an in at a place where things like this are discussed and trafficked.

6: Rally Rhinox

Who?

Many of you are likely familiar with the Beast Wars character Rhinox. Many of you are probably not familiar with the promotional toy that character received at local American chain Rally’s. (S.H.I.E.L.D Agent 47) It looks nothing like Rhinox, or even really like a rhino.(S.H.I.E.L.D Agent 47) However, “Most people didn't realize the promotion even existed until after it was over, and the restaurant chain is fairly small and somewhat regional.” (S.H.I.E.L.D Agent 47) Because collectors are how they are, it tends to be quite expensive.

How do I get one?

The cursory ebay search I did recently didn’t turn anything up. However, a little more digging found some previous listings on old transformers forums. It appears to have gone for about 100 dollars, which is quite a bit, considering it’s a worse happy meal toy.

5:Latin American G1 product

What?

G1’s international distribution was a bit of a mess. Hasbro handled the US, but “The earliest toys released in continental Europe (minus Italy) were distributed by Milton Bradley, which was in the process of being taken over by Hasbro at that point.”(NexusShard17, The Transformers) In Latin America, the situation was even more complex. No fewer than five licensees were producing G1 figures, often in unique and striking color schemes. (Whalermouse) With the passage of time, the exact scope of what was produced has become unclear; for example, “There are supposedly upwards of three dozen different mold/color combinations altogether, many of them unique to the Peruvian line, but the ravages of time have made samples stunningly rare and reliable information scarce.” (Whalermouse) The actual rarity of the figures depends on what specific piece you’re after, but all of them command outrageous sums.

How do I get one?

Many of these pieces are available to purchase on ebay. However, even the mini-vehicles tend to command on the order of 300-400 dollars. However, as you can imagine from the fact that it is uncertain what all exists, some individual colors and figures might prove exquisitely difficult to find.

4: W Cassettebots

What?

Wouldn’t it be cool if Soundwave had some cassettes that turned into dinosaurs? What if they combined? Well if you lived in Japan in the 80’s, and preferred Blaster, you didn’t have to dream. There were two teams of cassettes that turned into dinosaurs, and that combined, albeit somewhat awkwardly. (M Sipher, W Cassettebot) At the end of the Headmasters, “there were a number of toys exclusive to Japan, most of which today command large sums on the secondary market due to rarity (or at least perceived rarity) in the West.” The W Cassettebots were solidly in that category. However, unlike other such exclusives, the W Cassettebots didn’t see a reissue until 2018-2019. (Interrobang; S.H.I.E.L.D Agent 47) For decades these figures could command 2000-3000 dollars for the pair. Even knock offs would go for several hundred dollars. Although these are expensive simply because of their exclusivity, their notoriety earns them a place on the list.

How do I get one?

If you’re a reasonable human being, you buy the reissue. It’s two orders of magnitude cheaper and you can actually play with it. If you’re actually interested in the real deal, an accepted path is to buy some KOs to familiarize yourself with what those look like, and then… find the boys themselves somewhere? Likely by reaching out to an individual seller; I’ve never even seen a real pair on ebay.

3: G2 Bomber Megatron

A toy that essentially anyone can buy, but with a packaging variant that is next to unobtainable? Oh baybee, welcome to this version of G2 Megatron. “A planned-but-more-or-less-canceled redeco of Generation 2 Dreadwing, this two-pack of Megatron and Starscream was only released to test markets in Ohio in very limited quanities, and never saw a wide release… the toy was instead made available, with just a few small deco changes, in the Beast Wars II toyline as BB and Starscream.”(ItsWalky) Why do we care about how difficult this is to obtain? My god, because it’s there. Because it’s there.

How do I get one?

I’mma say you don’t. I’d guess less than 500 samples of any sort of this are around, and new in sealed box which is the only thing you’d care about? You’re at the mercy of Ohioese children of the 80s not playing with the cool toy they were bought. Good luck finding one. When you do, be prepared to break your wallet in half.

2: G2 Defensor and Menasor

These guys really should be number one on the list (but they’re not quite for a good reason). The place they occupy in transformers culture is legendary. It’s a newsworthy event when a set of these figures even becomes available to buy. Even Hasbro has lampshaded the rarity of these figures in the bio of one Shortround, a Cybertron toy. (KilMichaelMcC; Bronzewolf) Much as the first entry on our list, Action Master Thundercracker, had a phenomenally garish color scheme, Menasor and Defensor were going to be released that way in G2. However, between one thing and another, they were canceled. In spite of that, several samples are known to exist. Imagine it. A G1 combiner, unreleased, with this magnificent, gaudy color scheme, all those delightful little bits and pieces to lose or misplace over the years, a bare handful of extant ones in any event… The stuff of legends, to be sure.

How do I get one?

Know someone who knows someone. These tend to go for in the neighborhood of 20000 dollars. If you have the 20k to drop on one of these guys, you probably know someone who can put you in contact with one. They are also, rarely, listed on ebay.

1: Chrome Optimus Prime

Okay, I know I said no Lucky Draw figures, but this one is special. There aren’t ten, or fifteen, or fifty of these. There are exactly two, as part of a single display. (MasterX224) “Won by TFW2005.com member James Zahn, this one-of-a-kind (well, two-of-a-kind) piece is an almost fully vacuum-metallized Leader-class Optimus Prime in red, silver and blue (based heavily upon Generation 1 Optimus Prime), presented with a custom display base with an embossed silver Autobot insignia and a perspex display case.” (MasterX224) The fact that there are two of this figure catapults it to the absolute stratosphere of rarity. It’s difficult to imagine what figure that actually exists could be rarer than this. Maybe a one-off thing for a valued Takara employee? Maybe the very first prototype of Optimus Prime? Even things like Menasor and Defensor have a handful of samples. What has just two? Well… this Chrome Optimus Prime.

How do I get one?

Well it helps to be James Zhan. And… yeah I think that’s really all. He’s certainly not going to give it up any time soon. Maybe if you meet him he’ll let you take a look at it some day?

I hope you all enjoyed this loose list of some of the rarest/most expensive for what they are Transformers. There’s a ton of other super notorious lads, (cough G1 Raiden cough) that really do deserve to be on here. These are just a few of the ones I thought were interesting and, candidly, know about. I’m not in the circles of those folks who are collecting the rarest of the rare. If there’s anything you know about or would even like to spread rumors about, mention it! I’d love to hear about them. this world has made a criminal out of me. your life was a crime scene and i wanted to leave my sticky fingerprints all over it, bring you lunch and say hi to your boss, have your best friends like me better, make sure you couldn’t get through a day without hearing my name. twice. the only way down from a pedestal is shattering, the arresting officer said it was my blood all over the glass, but what was he going to do? can’t steal something that was already broken, but god knows i tried, god knows i would have crossed the line, god knows and kept walking, left me behind like an empty water bottle at a bus stop. to clarify i never thought you were perfect, or that i knew best, if the court reporter will read back my remarks she’d tell you that i just liked the sharp edge of your jaw and most of your jokes and it made me insane in that way everyone in love is insane, pointing at someone from a crowd of thousands and thinking that one. i’ll keep that one. take this testimony as an apology for my presumption, for how can my heart be anything other than an accusation? do i not deserve justice? it’s not fair because love is supposed to be the winner, the story should have a happy ending, the good guys vanquishing the darkness, you holding my hand as we walk into the sunset, you helping me fold laundry twenty years from now. i loved you as truly as a fucking knight does a princess, all that useless yearning passion, what was the point of swallowing my fear like a sword entering the belly of a dragon, my feelings, my confessions, my sins spilling out a bloody sacrifice, all of it blood and fire and brimstone, all of it ashes in the wind. after the slaying, when i climbed to the top of the tower to save you from this terrible world, you were gone. i had to wonder if you were ever there at all. and i know if i want it to end i have to suffocate all my questions. stop letting what if haunt my waking and could’ve been steal its way into my dreams, stop asking if everything you set on fire was enough to keep you warm. listen: i don’t mean to hang you up like a portrait in a gallery, i just think it’s better for all of us that i learn to love you from a distance. put you behind a locked door and swallow the key. if the hurt in your eyes when i tell you i can’t do this anymore is an oasis in the desert, then i am fucking parched, i am drinking that shit up like nobody’s business. what am i doing, you ask? you mean other than pretending this hurts you more than it hurts me? i’m playing the goddamn matchmaker, baby, i’m like cupid in this bitch. i’m abdicating the throne, i’m leaving an empty space, when will you realize what i have already accepted, that i am easy to replace? i know that to you, the beat of your heart is a car alarm; you never know when it’s gonna go off, but to me it is a siren’s call and i have to close my ears to it otherwise i will drown. there will be others after me like there were others before me and during too; it’s okay, we never made those kinds of promises, we were a different breed of liar. now you want to tell me that i was different, that i was special, but the only time you could tell me you loved me was after six shots and slurring, could only say it if you could take it back in the morning. is that special? is that precious? i want to believe you but the evidence is stacked against us. always has been. the truth is a lot harder than a drunken confession, the truth is the harsh light of day and, even uglier, cannot be denied. the truth is i don’t want you to be happy without me but i tell you that anyway because someday, when that fucking perfect specimen, the one who was everything you needed and i could never compare to, someday when she arrives like an angel descening from the heavens to save you from yourself, i want you to think of me, i want you to know that for all my flaws and vices and lies, i tried. i tried to be better. for you.

Xenoforce III Chapter 10

Chapter 10: Dirt in Your Eye (Disclaimer! I own nothing of Xenoblade!) I was lying on my bed. Rock, meet bottom. When life ends up screwing you over, you can think back to a time that got you in this mess to begin with. Mine was when I signed up for that science off just to show Edmund that I was the better man, and now look what…. “Give it a rest Pal,” I said. (What? I’m just telling them what happened!) “No need buddy,” I said, “They already saw what happened, and they’re reading the book remember?” (Yeah but…. But…) “Leave me alone,” I said turning my head. Someone knocked on the door. “If you’re from the Michael Morrison Support team, just leave the snacks and stuff outside,” I said. I opened the door and it was Vivian. “V, what’s up?” I asked. “Can I come in?” asked Vivian. “Sure,” I said letting her in, “Can I get you anything.” “I just stopped by to deliver some news,” said Vivian, “Dad kicked Grandpa out of the house!” “He did what?” I asked. “Yeah, he finally stood up to him, then told him to pack some things and get out, and he did!” said Vivian, “And now he’s gone!” Vivian hugged me. “That’s great,” I said, “At least things are going good for you.” “I’m really sorry about you getting disqualified,” said Vivian, “If there’s anything I can do I’ll do it.” “Thanks,” I said, “I appreciate that.” “Any luck finding Battery?” asked Vivian. “Not quite,” I said, “I’ve put a tracer on the suit so I can know where he’s going.” My computer started beeping. “What the…” I said. Johnny was heading out. “Another Scavenger’s job perhaps,” I said, “Let’s go.” “Wait,” said Vivian, “There’s somebody who can help us.” We were at Lola’s dorm. “So why are we here?” I asked. “Because I recently applied for Scavenger’s for Hire, and it turns out that Johnny is affiliated with them,” said Lola, “Plus it finally gives me a reason to pull out my old project, Codenamed; Arachnid.” She pressed a button and a door to a secret room opened. “Behold my secret lab,” said Lola.

Vivian and I were amazed. I looked at a blue and yellow costume. “This is what you’ve been working on?” I asked. “That’s just a prototype,” said Lola. “Wait a second,” I said, “You were that spider-girl from the tryouts for the science off!” “That’s me,” said Lola. “You know what’s amazing?” I asked, “This web fluid that you made up.” I was looking at a small cartridge of the web fluid. “Who made this?” I asked. “That would be moi,” said Lola, “And for wall crawling I made some mag grips that can stick to any surface.” “Well aside from the web shooters, you’re gonna need an upgraded suit,” I said. “I think we should tell her,” said Vivian. “Tell me what?” asked Lola. “Ok, you’re gonna wanna step back a bit,” I said. I pulled out my Xeno Watch and pressed it. I instantly transformed into Xenoblade. “Whoa!” said Lola. “I know right!?” I said. “I think you’re gonna need my help on this,” said Lola. “Right, but it could be dangerous,” I said, “I should let your dad know you’re going on a little field trip….” Lola used one of her web shooters and my hand was stuck to the wall. “Do not tell him,” said Lola. “Ok Arachnid-Girl,” I said, “Um can you…” “Oh sorry,” she said. I went to my place. (To the 4th wall) If I’m gonna take on these punks, I’ll need to make a few adjustments. I got out the black suit and put it on. Battery was heading to the Space Pirates hidden base. When he got inside he heard footsteps and turned around. It was me, Samus, Ratchet and Purple Haze. “What do you want from me?” he asked. “I wanna help you,” I said, “Somebody named Lola Montez explained everything.” “Xenoblade, you don’t understand,” said Battery, “I have to do this alone.” “The hell you do,” I said making him face me, “I may be a superhero, but even I need help sometimes.” “If you’re here to get the suit back for Michael Morrison, then I’ll give it back after this,” said Johnny. “That won’t be necessary,” I said taking off my mask, “Because I’m right here.” He looked at me. “Michael?” asked Battery as he took off his mask. “Johnny,” I said, “Its been a while.” The lights started to turn on. Space Pirates with high tech weapons had their sights on us. “Well, well, well,” said Dargan. “That’s a pretty deep well,” said Purple Haze. He had on some strange armor. “Do you like my armor?” he asked, “Its like yours only its better.” “It’s the man, not the machine buster,” I said, “Now here’s what’s gonna happen; You’re gonna give back the technology you stole, and turn yourselves in.” “Or get your asses kicked by us superheroes,” said Purple Haze. “In case you don’t realize you’re outnumbered,” said Dargan, “There’s dozens of us and only 3 of you.” “You’re right, that’s why I called for backup,” I said, “UNDEROOS!” Someone shot webs at some of the space pirates and joined us. It was Lola in her new high tech Arachnid Girl suit. “Nice job!” I said giving her a thumbs up. “Thanks, though I could’ve had a better landing, it’s the suit,” said Lola, “No its nothing, the suit is perfect!” “Look no need to start talking,” I said. “Oh, Battery, I’m a big fan of yours, my name’s Arachnid Girl,” said Lola. “You’ve been busy,” said Dargan. “I can say the same about you,” I said, “Last chance to surrender.” “Oh I don’t think so,” he said. He pressed a button and a giant mechanic suit appeared. He jumped inside and activated it. “Right….” I said, “Ratchet and Samus, you’re with me, Johnny you distract those punks!” “What should I do?” asked Lola. “What we discussed,” I said, “Web em up but keep your distance!” “Got it!” said Lola. Samus was firing at the Omega Space Pirate but it was absorbing her shots. “Samus use the scan visor!” I said. “You put a scan visor in this suit?” asked Samus. “I put a lot of things in this suit,” I said, “Now scan it.” Samus scanned the suit and saw some weak spots. “It looks like its weak to plasma,” said Samus. “Activate the Plasma Beam,” I said. Some space pirates were after Johnny. Lola swung by and started fighting them. She shot a web rope at one of the pirates and pulled him close then kicked him back. “Now that’s what I call web fu,” said Lola, “Oh shit!” She somehow sensed someone was about to attack her and counterattacked. She then webbed him to the floor. “Whoa is that stuff coming out of you?” asked Johnny. “Not really,” said Lola, “I developed the webbing myself and it comes out of these web shooters and….” “I don’t know if you’ve been in a real fight but there’s not this much talking,” said Battery. Samus shot the space pirate mech with plasma. Parts of its armor shattered. It turned invisible and Samus looked for it. “There he is!” she said. She was using her thermal visor. The mech was growing back parts. It was about to attack but then Lola stopped it with her webbing. “Nice shot!” I said. Dargan did a shockwave attack knocking us all down. “Alright,” I said. I jumped on his mech and got on the cockpit. “Get off me!” said Dargan trying to pull me off. He grabbed me and got me in a bear hug. I saw some wires. “These look important,” I said pulling them. I ripped off his targeting system and got free. The costume somehow repaired itself and formed an arm cannon like Samus.. “Whoa,” I said. “Your costume intrigues me Xenoblade,” said Dargan, “I’ll enjoy peeling it off of you.” “Over my dead body,” I said in a serious tone. His goons came at me. I started shooting at them taking them all down. “I could use this,” I said. I fought them off and overpowered them. One of the space pirates tried to attack me from behind but I quickly turned around and kicked him in the face. I then ripped his weapon off and used it against him. “How do you like that punk-ass!” I said. Dargan opened the cockpit and started firing at me. I jumped around dodging him. “Hold still you little prick,” he said. He kept firing and I used my monado to deflect the bullets. “This is ironic!” said Dargan, “Trying to rid the world of weapons with Scavenger’s for Hire, you just gave it its best one yet, and now, I’m gonna kill you with it.” “Good luck with that,” I said. I imagined a pair or wings. The digital imagery was red instead of Green. I charged at Dargan and attacked him and he forced me off. I saw something that could help. It as an EMP capsule. I did a bunch of flips and threw it at Dargan. It overloaded his weapon and it shut down. I then kicked him out of his mech and he fell. “You lose,” I said. The cops showed up and arrested him. One of the workers for SFH congratulated Johnny for his hard work and paid him. “This’ll be more than enough,” said Johnny. “Awesome job out there Johnny,” said Lola. “How do you know my name?” he asked. Lola unmasked herself. “Lola?” asked Johnny. “You don’t have to do these things alone anymore cause I’m here for you,” said Lola. “Thanks,” said Johnny. They shared a kiss. “Get a room,” said Samus. Johnny came to me. “You’ll probably want this suit back,” he said. “Mine too,” said Lola. “No keep them,” I said, “SFH could use people like you.” “Oh this is your share,” said Johnny, “Take it.” He gave me some of the money. “You’re a good man,” I said. Lola swung back to her house and quietly opened the door. She turned around and saw her father in a wheelchair. “Dad,” she said surprised. “So how was your day today?” he asked, “Did you do anything special?” She thought for a moment. “Dad, if I told you what happened, you probably wouldn’t believe me,” she said. He pulled out her old arachnid-girl suit and smiled at her. “Try me,” he said. Later I was walking around campus and still had the black suit on. I heard people talking about Xenoblade and some of the things weren’t positive. I saw a newspaper. It read “Criminal! Xenoblade’s true colors exposed.” I saw Edmund’s name in the credits. “I’m gonna put some dirt in your eye,” I said.

Okay gotta admit watching Tale of the Nine Tailed is borderline HILARIOUS right after watching Strangers from Hell

Also I see people asking how Kaoru could be in these dreams when he’s a boy, but remember the Accas let Neiru and Kotobuki meet last episode. They’re clearly in control of the eggs and so i don’t feel it’s a stretch that they made it so Momoe and Kaoru could meet

˚₊· ͟͟͞͞➳❥"Yah" Jongwoo said grabbing the attention of everyone in the room including you "dont stare at my partner like that" he said the guy looked around a bit embarrassed "wait what happened" you said coming back with what JongWoo needed JongWoo snatched the file from you before grabbing your arm and forcing you back to your seat on the other side of him

˚₊· ͟͟͞͞➳❥"I caught him starring at your butt" he said loud enough for everyone to hear you gasped before you heard giggling "that's gross" you heard the girl next to you mumble the guy looked down "your not even going to apologize?" JongWoo said standing up from his chair getting ready to grab the dudes keyboard you were quick to stop JongWoo

˚₊· ͟͟͞͞➳❥"Don't your gonna get yourself in trouble" you mumbled holding on to his hands JongWoo scoffed "I don't care he needs to apologize" JongWoo said snatching his hand away from you "yah!" He said the guy refusing to look at him

˚₊· ͟͟͞͞➳❥"what's going on out here?" The big boss said coming out his office "JongWoo caught him starring at yn's butt" the girl said next you in a disgusted tone "are you not going to apologize?" JongWoo scoffed "yah asshole!" JongWoo yelled kicking his chair the guy flinched "JongWoo!" You gasped "stop Yn" he said trying to pull his hands away from you "dont jeopardize your job for me" you said pulling him into a hug hoping to calm him down

˚₊· ͟͟͞͞➳❥JongWoo visibly relaxed before wrapping his arms around your waist "your more important to me than this job" he whispered you sighed "baby please I dont want to see you suffer because some hentai loving asshole can't keep his eyes to himself" you said rubbing his back JongWoo slightly giggled "I love you" he said swaying the two of you back and forth "I know" you said hearing him slightly gasp before pinching your back you giggled "I love you too now let's get you back to work" you said the rest of his time working there JongWoo had a really bad attitude towards the guy

He asked eyeing your body you shifted uncomfortably in your seat "no-no I'm here with my boyfriend" you said quietly "boyfriend?" The man laughed "you mean that kid that walked to the bathroom?" He said acting like he just said the funniest thing in the world "Seokyoon isn't a kid don't call him that and please leave me alone" you said fear washing away replacing with irritation

˚₊· ͟͟͞͞➳❥In response the man laughed "you could date a real man" he said emphasizing 'real' you scoffed "I told you I have a boyfriend" you said leaning back in your chair slightly jumping when you felt a familiar hand touch your shoulder "besides your not much of a real man if you can't take a hint" Seokyoon hissed out towards the man

˚₊· ͟͟͞͞➳❥The tone in Seokyoons voice was something you never heard before the man gulped "sorry" he said standing up before rushing away. You and Seokyoon sighed in unison before you both bust out laughing after a minute or two Seokyoon sat back in his chair on the right side of you trapping you between him and the wall again

˚₊· ͟͟͞͞➳❥"Sorry I couldn't get here faster baby" he said playing with your fingers "it's fine I just wanted him gone he stank" you jokes scrunching up your nose Seokyoon giggled before leaning in to kiss you

˚₊· ͟͟͞͞➳❥Jieun

˚₊· ͟͟͞͞➳❥Jieun is a pouty type of jealous like if your paying too much attention to another girl that isn't her she'll pout and latch herself to your arm

˚₊· ͟͟͞͞➳❥when the two of you leave that conversation she'll speak on it "you know she was flirting right?" She mumbled "that's why I left as soon as possible I don't need her I have an amazing girlfriend right here a clingy but adorable one too" you said ripping your arm out her hold in order to hug her "oh whatever" she said wrapping her arms around your waist

˚₊· ͟͟͞͞➳❥Jieun needs reassurance so you being the amazing partner you are made sure she gets that assurance

1. why did you choose your url?

Atots supremacy 😔✊ but no lol. I liked my prev url,seetians a lot, it was cute 🥺. But after the finale i had a lot of phutian feels and i wanted smth related to phutian. But all the pretty urls were taken 😭 so i was just trying combinations one day and i was like haha i bet the Ataleofthousandstars one is taken but still let me try it and then i got it!?!//! Helllpppp. But also yes atots supremacy 😔✊ i wanted to change it again but i feel a lot of ppl associate me with this url now so 🚶‍♀️🚶‍♀️ i dont want anyone to forget me

2. any sideblogs?

Atotsweek 😚😚 but tbh sideblogs are difficult to manage and jdjddj when someone likes the atotsweek posts from this blog, I get notifications for both blogs dudjdu its confusing 😩. Also i have to check everytime which blog im reblogging on. Anyway other than that I have 3 other sideblogs but i use those for saving textposts and resources and such so they are useless.

11 months 🚶‍♀️🚶‍♀️ gonna be a year next month 😩 im smoll okay!!

5. why did you start your blog in the first place?

Diidjdsijs i almost forgot about this omg. So I bought a new phone and then was like let me download many apps so that I'll look cool and cultured 🤪. But then after 5 months or so i was like im never gonna use all of these apps so i started deleting them and then i saw tumblr and went oohh whats this let me take a look and opened an account djdjjdjs. And I was in a sfh hyperfixation that time so i stayed for the sfh posts and then I watched h3 trapped (my first bl) > watched wyel > made content for wyel > somehow found 2g by gifs and the rest is history 😌

6. why did you choose your icon/pfp?

I found a lot of cool designs on pinterest and was like what if I use these ideas for my icon 🚶‍♀️🚶‍♀️ and tehohaew supremacy ofc 💞💞

7. why did you choose your header?

Cause im lazy and I literally giffed only that scene from ep2. And then i posted it TWICE and made it my header too. Work smarter not harder 😌 but also i like that shot? Like this is the equivalent of the sunset shot of itsay ep5 and i like it. Plus i added sparkles OBVIOUSLY but you cant see them unless you take a close look on it

8. whats your post with the most notes?

This 2g one but if we're talking about gifsets than the atots collage 💞

9. how many mutuals do you have?

I have no idea. I'm bad at following people back and sometimes I just let it be 🚶‍♀️🚶‍♀️ sorry besties, if we're not mutuals its not on purpose i just dont know that i dont follow you. Plus I tend to follow blogs who rb content from the 3 shows I watched so 🚶‍♀️🚶‍♀️yeah i dont follow a lot of ppl. But if I ever talked to you it means we are mutuals and i love you with my entire heart 💞💞
