oh i do love getting this type of ask, makes me all fuzzy inside!
and i do indeed have some "food" for you! i wasn't quite sure how to present this before, but now seems like a good time!
i've done quite a bit of actor au shenanigans... i did say Rainy would get some proper roles eventually.... so...
Tumblr media
introducing the newest slasher in theaters, Blood Prom!
it's supposed to be kinda cheesy, kinda satire, you know the deal! it's just serious enough where you can get into it though!
(would you believe me if i said i made the entire synopsis? the movie is not even real and im brainrotting over it.... blast....) (it's a bit amusing though!)
the synopsis is quite long, so perhaps I'll put it in a different post if you're interested! for the most part, i made a lot of art of the whole thing...
[ more blood under the cut! ]
Tumblr media Tumblr media
what a blockbuster! (i guess!) it's all in good fun, i assure you!
I suppose i should say Rainy plays as Cory Sawyer, the final girl in the movie, while Maverick plays Johnathan, who is our killer!
bless them both really....
Tumblr media
cory... my beloved...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
rainy in a cheerleading costume is something i didn't really know i needed...

as always, maverick belongs to @thatthirstyweirdo!

Rules of Engagement
I am here to bring myself closer to the people in order to shape my revolution, and generally continue to heal from the trauma that is my life.
I'm willing to talk about pretty much anything: konoha, its citizens, the ninja world, the non-ninja world, my family, history, furries, whatever. Keeping in mind I'm not trying to be overly serious, and almost all of my posts will be for the sake of humour (that doesn't mean there won't be kernels of truth in what I say). You can ask me about my opinion on these things through my ask or on posts. If you want to say something privately to me you can message me, but don't lead in with something like "hi" only and wait for me to respond (I'll ignore it because I'll assume you're a BBW MILF in my area or something).
I'm not going to talk about anything inflammatory or requires serious thought on greater world topics as I feel that's inappropriate (eg. I won't talk about ongoing wars in specifics). If I see you reblogging my posts in what I feel is an overly antagonistic way, towards myself or others (the most common form of this is I write a post saying I don't like someone, and someone reblogs with "YEAH fuck [female character] she's a [vulgar misogynistic slur] #[female character's name]"), I'll block you. This is meant to be a restorative account meant to make me and others feel good.
In terms of roleplaying:
I'm okay with interacting with anyone, but if I don't know who you are please forgive me and I'll ask you to introduce yourself
I'm always "in character" even in DMs, it's just easier that way
I won't use things like action markers (** [] // italics, etc.) or written narrative to describe my actions, I'll just announce them and if you want to interrupt or respond to them you can do so in whatever way you feel comfortable with and I will just assume it happened
I use emojis and gifs to communicate actions and expressions sometimes, it's just more comfortable for me that way as it's easier for me to communicate visually
If you're someone who should be dead/disappeared/whatever to me, you can explain how you've returned or I can just ignore it, but do know that whatever feelings I would have towards you based on my life will remain the same
I know some roleplayers type story-like things with each other (closed RPs? starters?), I won't do that because I just don't have the energy for it. If you wanna go through a certain situation with me just bring it up in a post you tag me in or inbox me and I'll respond as I see fit
I'm not doing smut stuff with people sorry, but my blog is NSFW because I'm an adult and it's kind of funny to talk about
A reminder that everything I post is from my perspective and based on my opinion. FYI I see the Naruto manga as a biographical re-telling of certain events (everything until chapter 699), and the anime as an interpretation of the biography (therefore some filler will be true to me). Therefore, any time I present thoughts on these things, they may not always be 100% in line with what's shown. Feel free to add to my posts in disagreement but I might not respond. If I annoy you or you consistently take issue with something I say, block me for your own sake. If I said something to upset you and you don't want to block me, you can just tell me and I'll 99% apologize, but 100% address it with respect.
That being said, I'm here to have fun-- that is the best revolution.
ETA 24/04/24: you can follow me on letterboxd if youre interested, i'll follow back and you can send me movie recs or anon hate about my movie opinions in my inbox here, i pretty much watch anything recommended to me but i'll be honest about what i think of it

okay so i just steamrolled thru detective pikachu returns over the past 2 days because i was sick and had nothing else better to do and right after finishing it i went into the tags and WOWIE the negative reception is very large!! i do understand and even agree with some of it but i just felt the need to get my own thoughts down (again. sick with nothing better to do) so take a peek under readmore for very typical elongated halo ramblings about his fave video game series
for the record i never played the first game (only watched a few clips of it on youtube even) but i did go see the movie in theaters. just figured i'd mention this ahead of time so my favoritism is known and to prevent myself from coming off as a perfectly unbiased reviewer
BEWARE THE SPOILERS BTW
(post-editing note: it be long under here, you have been warned)
to start off YEAG this game is not worth 50 bucks! the story's pacing is all over the place and is very basic, the graphics are not particularly well refined, the characters' expressions do not fluctuate as much as they should (professor gordon in particular ;-; i felt so bad for him), and the voice acting outside of merloch and detective pikachu himself are kinda phoned in! it felt like an early 2000s 4kids dub for real. even the gameplay aspects themselves were rather meh in presentation; the button hitboxes were annoying to deal with and as cool as i thought the "main" mechanics were they were incredibly clunky and the tension they tried to build up in the "solving the case" climaxes was just Not It. there was absolutely no reason for the loading/pauses to take that long
(the pokemon gimmicks were okay tho. i would die for growlithe)
however, this isn't a problem specific to this game. while i enjoyed scarlet it was definitely not 60 bucks material (and when i went back to it for the teal mask i even went "good lord, did it always run this badly?"). i gotta give credit to detective pikachu, at least this game ran properly for the most part and never crashed on me lmao
while that doesn't negate the criticisms i previously mentioned i simply wanted to say that this is going to be a problem for as long as pokemon keeps making money. this isn't me finger-wagging at anyone in particular (i certainly have no room to talk, i did say i liked scarlet), i just wanted to say: yeah, pokemon has been A Mess
"but halo!" you cry. "you talked like the negative reception was overblown! what gives the giant negative paragraph??"
because much like scarlet, i still really enjoyed this game sdfjnsdk. how can i say that with confidence, though, when i largely agree that there were many, many issues to be had with its performance?
the word of the day: expectations
and perhaps this is where my bias comes into it. whenever i play a spinoff game (like snap or pokepark for instance), i don't really go into it for mindblowing gameplay and stories, i do it for the same reason this series has kept me enraptured for over a decade of my life:
the pokemon themselves!!
there are SO MANY little things that the regular games don't go into, and while i have my own headcanons and OCs i can play off of, it is so much fun to see actual canon material acknowledge certain things you've only ever theorized about!!
the whimsicott were so fun to watch float around, the article asking where a furret's tail began and ended made me laugh out loud, the fact that they went hard into the "slowpoke tails are eaten as food" thing, and the "let's not get into that right now" jokes about venonat hunting other pokemon and dusknoir eating souls LIKE. i LOVE when pokemon goes into its more "serious" aspects. i know main series games do it too occasionally but outside of offhanded mentions or pokedex entries, do they go this hard into them? if they do and i'm just stupid pls tell me about it i'll eat that shit up
being reminded of less-talked-about pokemon is always a plus and how can you not pop off when you see one of your faves included in the story? (INTELEON AND WOOPER I'LL KICK THEIR ASSES 4 U) it's simply fun immersing yourself into the world of pokemon and getting a glimpse of what it would be like to have pokemon walking down the street and how that affects everyday life! maybe the story is basic, but it served its purpose and i had fun going along with it!
perhaps it's just my mental illness talking, but walking around and seeing all the pokemon and THEN doing the quiz girl's quizzes was actually kinda nice! even if the puzzles weren't that hard, i can't lie and say i didn't pump my fist when i guessed where the mystery was going like with cramorant swallowing the jewel or how the passimian statues needed to hold different berries. overall, i just enjoyed being reminded of how much i know and what i love about this series
also, the ways they incorporated the movie were pretty baller. i liked how they didn't just do a repeat of the mewtwo plot from the movie and let me tell you, even tho i called it early on, i liked that my suspicions about the aurora drop being deoxys were confirmed!! (i suppose it's not that hard to guess bcs what other pokemon comes from space, but i just recently finished playing omega ruby again and i normally don't think about deoxys a lot so LET ME HAVE THIS)
plus "i heard they made a movie about the R case" MADE ME SCREAM. i thought they were just going to ignore the movie and do their own thing but then they DID THAT. incredible. you can call my expectations low (which is valid) but holy fuck
so the TLDR for those who want this: if you want a sweet but cliche game exploring the world of pokemon with a lot of funny moments + worldbuilding, then this game is perfect for you. if you want a game with a groundbreaking story with graphics to boot, then yeah, you're not gonna find it here. i've even seen people say their own nostalgia of the original spinoff wasn't enough to get them to enjoy this game, so take my words with a grain of salt
i would say just watch compilations of the game on youtube, but not every youtuber is gonna go fully exploring the game for all of its little details, so if you care about that kind of stuff, buying the game is your best bet. also if you don't care about that kind of stuff then you should just ignore the game altogether etc etc anYwAY
as for a TLDR for the TLDR: new pokemon snap is goated and i would say a more enjoyable experience than this game esp if you didn't like it so PLEASE buy it the game's only 30 bucks and you can throw treats at pokemon PLEASE it has so many sidequests and interactions you can partake in PLEASE i prommy i won't bite PLEASE stick your fingers in my enclosure PLEASE PLEASE PLE

I'm very grateful that you reblog your own posts when you reference them because I was ready to go on an hour long search to find that light / Patrick bateman comparison and seeing that its from 2018, I don't think I ever would have found it. I don't know how you do it, but its amazing how you can scavenge up a five year old post so easily
😅 I'm glad it's helpful! There are definitely times where I doubt it would be easy for anybody except myself to know the quickest route to digging up one of my old posts here. I'll give you the general way I went about it:
I was like "I know I always tag 'American Psycho' on posts from that movie, so I'll search that tag on my blog."
Then I searched it and fairly soon after found a VERSION of this post, but not the exact one I wanted. The one I found had some Breaking Bad additions. Normally I would just click on the reblog with the American Psycho addition only to get that version, but the blogger had deactivated their url so it wasn't possible to do that anymore. NONETHELESS I carried on!
I saw that the Breaking Bad addition post was from sometime last year, and I knew that the post had only blown up a few months before that. So I had a general timeline in mind for where on my blog I should be searching for it.
I went to my blog archive on a browser and set the filter to posts tagged "p," which are the posts I make myself/add my own additions on instead of just reblogs. I then set the date to the month in 2022 that the Breaking Bad addition post was posted and scrolled to posts before that to find the ones I made when the post first started blowing up, because I knew that I talked about it when it was happening at the time. LO AND BEHOLD in April 2022 I spotted Light's cranky little face glaring at me from a thumbnail and knew that I had finally struck gold! BUT THEN when I clicked on it it wasn't the right version of the post either, but a version where I was snarking at somebody for thinking I was being sincere about wanting a man to look at me like Light does! 😄 I knew I had made the snarky post quite soon after it first started gaining tons of notes though, so I knew that I was getting very warm.
SO THEN I set my archive search to ALL POSTS from April 2022 instead of just the ones I tagged "p" and hunted back until I found more with the same cranky Light thumbnail, and clicked on them until I finally found the proper one to reblog.
I am not expecting this to be an easily replicated type of thinking for anybody searching for specific posts here, but at the same time I'm not going to pretend I don't also love to be that weird old shopkeeper who helps you hunt through the overwhelming stacks of junk in their store to hunt down that one special thing hahaha

Yo! I'm Cou, like in Acoustic! That's where the 'cousticks' comes from (mind blown, yet?) I'm a whole 21 years old, and would prefer they/it pronouns.
This account is my dumping ground for fandom posting, including analysis, aus (which you can find a list of here), writing, doodles, and more! You can find some of this writing on AO3, too.
I follow back from the url 'causticacoustic', as this is one sideblog of several. Please do not be alarmed by a purple Master Chief icon following you out of nowhere, or leaving asks, that's me!
Minors are welcome, but I'd prefer only my 18+ friends DM me. 18+ mutuals are welcome to my discord, too! Just send me a DM.
I encourage talking to me. Be it via asks (anon or not!), comments, reblogs, DMs, whatever, I love conversation, I'm just a little incapable of starting it, usually.
More blog info below!
Content
This is mostly a BSD blog. In the future it may also contain other media. Vanitas no Carte is probably going to make an appearance eventually, who knows what'll come after that.
Other media interests I doubt I'll post about here include:
the Halo universe
FLCL (only the og. we don't talk about the reboots.)
Portal games
Dishonored games
bad action movies in general
and more!
I also have other non-media interests, but I won't clog this up with them. You should totally ask me about them though.
I don't post or reblog anything NSFW. This is 90% because I don't want to forget to tag something, 5% because I'm ace and don't really need that here, and 5% because I don't want to make this blog a place minors can't go.
Tagging
Honestly, I'm not great at tagging upsetting content. If you need something specific tagged then leave me a DM or ask (anon or not) or something and I'll try my best to keep a running list of what needs tagged and how (I keep a Google Doc for myself for my tagging system and will happily add your needed tags to it). Chances are, you'd be seeing violence or blood. If you're in the BSD fanbase, I'm kind of making a blanket assumption that you're okay with that when you interact around here. If not? Good luck, I guess.
I give all characters their own individualized tags. I'm working on making them all short song lyrics. Please feel free to ask about any tags you see! Characters that haven't been given lyric tags yet are given the tag 'placeholder [character] tag.' If they're an au-specified character, such as from Beast, its specifically 'beast [Character] tag'. I have a handful of AU and/or concept emoji tags. If I ever see it relevant enough, I'll make a key for them.
Drawings are tagged #doodles. 'Personal' not really content posts are tagged #sticky note. More put-together posts I intend to actually circulate in the world are tagged with the fandom and relevant characters / novels, ex. #bsd dazai, #bsd fifteen, etc. People I interact with frequently might find themselves with their own tags as well! Mutuals, please don't think I suck for not giving you a tag or something pretty pretty please. My brain is very tired so I'm limiting it to those that appear often I promise I'm not slighting you personally on purpose.
Asks
I love getting asks. They can be actual questions on my thoughts, chain mail, insults, little gifts, whatever. I don't care. I love them and will treat them all with care. I have anon enabled and will always have it enabled. I'm also a big fan of ask games and have a ton of them tagged under #ask games. Those are all active all the time forever (though if its an older one you'd have to specify) I just like having things to talk about. Please talk to me.
This is very long and says absolutely nothing. Please direct all questions, comments, or complaints to the ask box.

Hey m, what's your stance on separation of the art from the artist when it comes to the artist being of a questionable character?
And on a wholly separate note, did you ever talk of Letter and Jimin and Jungkook and if there's a case for interpreting the song as most shippers have done?
Wow, that is a totally separate note there, anon 😆
But let's start with the first part of your ask. I'm sure I've written about this in the past, but my tagging system is not the best. Anyway..
What I can tell you is that there is no definitive answer. Which is probably boring because we're "supposed" to pick a side and stick to it. Regardless of our position, it's almost expected for us to be radical. I've had this exact debate so many times, with people of different ages and backgrounds. It's an ongoing debate and I really don't think there is a correct way of looking at it. I think that the more we try and move away from an abstract position and rather look at the particularities, it would be easier to understand our own arguments and how/why we choose to accept or dismiss some people. Then we also have to keep in mind what is condered questionable character. Does its definition include a general understanding of a person that is accepted all across the board? Or our own character and world views influence the way we perceive other people? And sometimes, there's another element that perhaps it's easily explicable, but in my mind, it's the one about a lack of logic. I'll give you an example. It's close to impossible for me to rewatch CMBYN because of Hammer's cannibalism allegations, more than the ones of abuse against women. I also publicly and vehemently condemn Woody Allen because I believe he is guilty of what he's been accused of, but it doesn't mean I will also never watch Annie Hall. Does that say that I'm a bad person? A hypocrite? Maybe. But it also says that I can't help but be subjective depending on each singular situation and that some of my views don't have any logic even in my own mind.
But these are extreme cases, of people who had actual charges brought against them. There are countless others that are usually accused of wide range of things, from sexism, racism, homophobia to xenophobia, you name it. Everything under the sun. Some people will not care, while others will. It's an individual choice. Not only a moral one, but economic as well.
I'd like to end this though by saying that I personally don't expect art to be made only by morally righteous people. I think that's a dangerous trap that leads to just another type of extremism.
Now, the second part, a bit more fun!
The only time I mentioned Letter was in one of my early posts on the new blog. I said it reminds me of a studio Ghibli movie but that I also have a more personal attachment to it.
I know how it's been interpreted by jikookers. I personally don't subscribe to the theory, but not for some major reason. I think it's nice Jimin had Jungkook do the backing vocals and seeing him sing during a livestream was moving. That's sort of enough for me. I think it's perfectly possible for the song to really be a letter to his fans. What I'm trying to say is that as much as it is really sweet, if it's for Jungkook or not, it doesn't have a major bearing on my opinion regarding them.
But I want to be very clear that just because I believe that, it doesn't mean I have an issue or condemn any jikooker who believes in the theory that it's a song for JK and about them. It's a harmless theory that is not based on any toxic or weird narrative. People should be free to talk about it, without having condescending anons or bloggers making fun of it or even criticising it too harshly. I've seen that happen a lot after the album was released.
P.S. Anon, I just saw your second ask. I'd rather stick to my answer as it is now, without going into any RM specifics as of today. I'm not in the mood for that.

Formal request to also ask all of them for the fic ask
(You can't prove it's been a whole month)
Origonal post
What is your favorite line that you’ve written in a fic?
‘Not yet’ whispers through the trees and B’Elanna shudders. And I couldn't even tell you why but it's my most favourite <3 From Existing In Your Orbit
What is one canon thing that you wish you could change?
Oooh boy. Honestly Rios staying in 2024.
Out of the comments you’ve received on your fics, what are two or three of your favorites?
I recently recieved amazing long comments on my Jemily series and I think they might be my most favourite. Also Jaz's comment on Mercy and the ones where people ask me for more smut because they're so funny.
What is your wildest headcanon?
I wrote a crack fic the other day where Seven drank a Big Gulp without taking a breath so I guess that one.
What’s your ideal writing setup?
Somewhere cosy and no noise.
Do you like to outline your fic first or create as you go?
Depends. For multi-chapter I usually try and have an outline or basis. usually just go with the flow and what kind of fic it is.
Have a piece of a WIP you want to share?
“What, and I’m not important enough for you to want to stay?” Raffi shoots back, picking at her nails.
The hand that’s gripping the page of the book in her lap moves quick enough that it rips it before she snaps the book shut loudly. A pang of regret fills her chest at the fact that this is one of Raffi’s books but her frustration takes over everything else.
“Stop putting words in my mouth, Raffi.” Seven stands to walk away. “When have I ever said you aren’t important? If I didn’t want to be here I wouldn’t come.”
“You’ve never said I am important!”
Gasp angst who'd have thought.
Is there a tag you like to search for when looking for fanfics to read?
Only if I'm trying to read a specific fic i've read before. I usually just scroll through all the fics til I find one I want to read again.
Do you like to post fics on a schedule or at random?
Random. Gotta keep you all on your toes you know.
What helps you focus when you write?
Really wish I knew haha.
What is your favorite fic that you’ve written?
This is a hard toss up but it's got to be either Before the Sunrise, Raffaela or Nostalgia
Do you write for yourself, for others, or both?
Both. Writing is cathartic and helps me get out my messy thoughts but also I love sharing things with others.
Why did you start writing fanfic?
To get all these ideas out of my head and to help me mentally.
Which character is your favorite to write?
Hmm...I wonder...
Raffi, of course though Emily will always be my baby too.
Which character is the toughest to write?
Sometimes I find Seven tough from a 3rd person pov, but honestly men are just hard to write lmao
Do you write for multiple fandoms? If yes, what is your favorite fic of yours for each fandom?
Well I've listed my CM and Picard faves already but my Voyager fave is probably A Collective of Four
How often do you read your own fics?
So often lmao.
Do you want to write something outside of fanfiction? If so, what about?
Well me and bestie want to write our AU's into books. Princess and Knight AU and Pirate AU. All wlw of course.
If a movie or show were based on your fic, which fic would you choose and who would you fancast?
All the Saffi fics should be real. Just saying. (Well not all of them...)
What inspires you and your writing?
Stupid dumb characters in my head /affectionate, and talking to others.
Do you research for your fics?
Usually if its needed. And it's usually for small little things.
What fics do you prefer on a scale of canon compliant to wildly original?
Probably in the middle. But I'll read near enough anything tbh.
Do you often write about a relationship or focus on an individual?
I usually focus on one character within a relationship with the relationship surrounding it.
Have you included any sexy scenes in your fics? If yes, do you find them easy or difficult to write?
It depends on the vibe tbh. Sometimes it flows a lot easier than others. I do have to write from a giving position usually though otherwise its hard af lmao.
Is it easier to write angst or fluff?
Angst. I never feel like I get fluff right honestly.
What sort of endings do you prefer to write: ambiguous, bad, happily ever after, etc.?
Happy endings even if everythings gone to shit before. Except Before the Sunrise but that's an outlier. Sometimes I'll do ambiguous or bad but I tend to need the happy endings to make me feel better haha.
How many WIPs do you currently have?
Oh no...I don't even want to count. Ones that are written that don't include multichapters? Maybe 5? MC's and just ideas included thats probably in the teens honestly.
Does anyone beta read or edit your fics?
Bestie Blaine is always the best beta and makes my stuff make sense <3
Is there a fanfic or fanfic writer you recommend?
If I had to choose one fic, it would have to be Foundations. Authors, alreadyaccepted, smol_yellowbumblebee, ericine, daxs10thhost, bimichaelburnham, sleeplessrivers, dolcewrites, fenrisranger, thequeerengineer, sgtmac, falltonadir...okay just everyone in the Saffi/Picard tag okay <3
What led to your interest in the fandom?
My partner got me watching the first season of Picard and there were gays so, the rest is history I guess.
Are non-fandom friends aware that you write fanfic?
I am quite open about it haha.
What is the most impactful lesson you’ve learned about writing?
Reading other people's fics and interacting with them is the best way to enchance your own writing.
Do you like writing short fics or long fics?
I love writing long fics but lately that's been an impossible struggle and I've felt kinda like a failure. Last year I wrote something like 70 fics because I did a lot of drabbles. This year I want to focus on longer fics and I have quite a few ideas stored up.
Do you have a writing milestone you’re working towards?
It depends. Sometimes i can look at a chapter and I'll guess how long it is (and then it'll be longer) but I usually go with the flow.
Any advice for writers working through burnout or writer’s block?
As someone who just got out of burnout, its to try something new. I started With Love, A which is a totally different format from what I've done before and it's really brought me out of the slump. Also talking through things with other people is always great.
Would you ever want to write something canon if you got the opportunity?
I would like to make my own canon someday haha.
Is there a favorite trope you like to write?
Hurt/comfort is my beloved.
If someone were to make fanart of your work, what fic or scene would you hope to see?
Polycule cuddle pile. Which one? I have too many to choose from.

Genuine question. Why do think jack frost doesn't like pranks?
sorry for leaving this so long, i was originally just gonna link this post and be done with it but i kinda want a second go at explaining it??? if not for anyone else then for my own sake lol
tbh that first post kinda reads as juvenile and defensive now that i re-read it...
i'll link @rotg-goc-headcanons idk if you were the anon or not but i figure you might be interested in a... more coherent explanation..
in the original post i got a bit side-tracked trying to prove one thing over the other. but i don't think this is a black/white situation in actuality. people are full of contradictions and i think in trying to prove that jack 100% at all times did not like pranks was working against me rather than for me.
so, i want to change my statement:
i disagree with the popular opinion (present in most fics and a lot of other fanworks) that jack is the prankster archetype.
i see a lot of people claiming that jack would be the type to set up pranks just for the fun of it. the kind of stuff you'll find on old school youtube where people run into clingfilm or replace icing with toothpaste etc. personally i find that doesn't match up with the canon version of events.
in canon, jack's pranks are very specific - they are a reaction to a specific person, and as such are tailored for that situation and individual.
jack has been seen to use pranks for the following:
to play with other kids and entice them into a game
to encourage the side-lined kid to join the game (and to overcome stereotypes and implied bullying)
as a defence in verbal fights
to deflect attention away from himself
as a distraction strategy in a literal fight
to calm down/cheer up/distract others in stressful situations
to bond with those around him
i think it's important to his character that he's not extreme in his use of pranks as some fanworks might suggest.
jack never seems to use pranks to draw attention to himself, or to make another person uncomfortable. i saw a few responses to my original response that mentioned that jack only really uses his pranks as a way to bring joy to others not to himself (i think it was @giantgirl253 but the tagging doesn't seem to work).
if you think about it, him being the prankster archetype that he's constantly characterised as doesn't mesh with him being good with kids or having the 'fun' centre. he would just come off as annoying (which i suppose is the most likely reason for why he gets written like this - to explain why bunny and north have a somewhat negative first impression of him.
ACTUALLY i think i may have stumbled onto the main problem with how jack is characterised.
a lot of people, in universe and in audience, tend to believe what they're told about jack rather than how we see him behave.)
i'd argue that jacks use of pranks is more in line with this dumb meme:
Tumblr media
i'm also gonna reiterate that jack goes through a major character development (ofc he does he's the mc) i bring this up for two reasons:
firstly, bc a lot of people cite that first scene in moscow as a major reason as to why he should be characterised as a prankster when its showing him at his most immature, insecure and selfish point
secondly, bc the scene in moscow is a situation in which jack is still stuck in a neglectful and harmful environment which is eroding his ability to see things clearly (mostly affecting his ability to accept responsibility, something he was capable of in the prologue and the flashback, but not in the first half of the movie). his pranks are as much a (subconscious) cry for help as they are a coping mechanism for his lack of corporeality.
(btw i'm sticking with my original claim that north and sandy are the pranksters of the group. jack just gets carried along bc he's a good sport like that, and bunny... is competitive and insecure lol)
tldr: its not that i think jack dislikes pranks per se, but that jack has specific terms for how, when and who he uses his pranks on. he's not a cluster of personality traits that go full throttle at all times, he knows when to stop, when and where his actions change from playful to cruel.

Loki finale
Take three. Too emotional the first two times, shouldn't have posted while I was still so deep in the feels.
I didn't love the ending, but that's okay. I'm sure I'm going to love all the discussion and dissection of it. I do really appreciate that they made s1+2 an arc on its own and even if they have other stories to tell, which has been hinted in interviews, there was closure to this main story.
Also, I put this in the tags last time but I think Tom is probably so proud with the arc he's taken this character through and he should be. It's been truly amazing to watch his portrayal over the years. I hope this isn't the last we see of Loki but I also know the reality of trying to continuously make movies while people get older/have lives/want to do other projects.
Some things that still remain true even after calming down:
Would've loved more time spent on Mobius and Sylvie realizing something had changed with Loki after all those loops. (shades of Edge of Tomorrow)
Maybe I'll feel differently on a rewatch but the transformation scene didn't hit me as triumphant. It made me think of King Loki from Loki: God of Stories, specifically the old, defeated version, which added to my overall sadness about the sacrifice Loki was making.
I have really mixed feelings about where they left Mobius.
I was expecting the last shot to be Loki on a throne but I thought he would give us a trademark Loki smile (albeit less evil) and the one we got...it hurts my heart.
Loki proved that Lokis are not destined to lose and I love that.
I also loved the whole start of the finale. I'm a sucker for time loop stories, especially when they lean into the comedy of repeated attempts to fix something (again, shades of Edge of Tomorrow)
Okay, feeling more sane about this now. I really can't wait to read the fic this episode inspires.

HI sorry to dm you out of the blue but i tried posting my post on WEDNESDAY MORNING and the first time i deleted it after 12 hours of it being up and still not in the tag, my second attempt is still on my blog because i sent support a ticket about it (i deleted the book club tag off it tho), my third attempt, which is what's in the tag, was literally me copypasting the html into notepad, making a mostly blank post, adding the og post piecemeal, and seeing if it disappeared from the tag or not. it seems there were a few specific images that were the problem, two of which i deleted and the third of which i just used a different crop of the page and it worked. i don't know WHY those images were a problem but hopefully support will shed some light on it if they get back to me?? i saw you had trouble with your vashwood post so i wonder if other bookclubbers are having the same issue and i'm afraid i'm missing posts because of it v_v
also re: your other tags YEA i agree abt the DID rep, i'm familiar with it bc i used to be close to someone who has it, i dont see it a lot in media to begin with but i've DEF seen worse from media that's much more recent than trigun lmao. also- yes razlo is there in the scene but my question is more abt his /degree/ of involvement like. did he convince livio to join eom/plant the idea in his head/tell him ww was there/etc... because "wanting to follow ww" as a motivation def comes from livio not razlo.. IF that even makes sense sorry i am half asleep rn. ALSOOO PLEASE DONT APOLOGIZE FOR THE RAMBLING OMG.. i love your tags sm and look forward to seeing them on my posts!! i love the rambling it's delightful.. i should be the one apologizing for sending a wall of text in your askbox LOL
Oh man, no worries! Yeah I had the same thing happen with this post, to the point that I had to eventually remake it without any images (which were kinda core to the post, thanks Tumblr!!!) and for some reason that worked??? I even reworded the whole thing multiple times, but nothing! So I'm gonna tag this as bookclub so it shows up and folks know that the tag is being stupid from time to time. This is also happening to posts in the "Trigun" tag and search function, and someone I know had an issue with blocking the other day, so I think Tumblr's probably fucking with the code
Seriously, kudos to Nightow for writing this in the early 2000's (when I assume this volume was probably initially published as chapters in its magazine) and doing better rep than every single horror movie out there. Even if it's magical fantasy grow-a-third-arm DID, it's so much better than most rep :')
OHHHHH I see what you mean!!! That's definitely the angle that Tristamp seems to be leaning toward, but it would be VERY interesting if Trimax Razlo hunted down big brother Nico and wanted Livio to join him. That's obviously pure headcanon, but I think I'll tuck that nicely into my own personal headcanons
ASKJNALSKJ OH THANK GOD, I don't always have the spoons for rambling BUT WHEN I DO... BOY I GO OFF. So it's nice to hear it's not annoying :'D And you're totally fine yourself, no worries!!! <3

Crossovers!
This is where we really start getting into stuff that the Ao3 filtering system isn't designed for. Two problems:
1. What if I want to look at crossovers for a fandom, but don't want to specify what they should be crossed with? Without drowning in fics for franchises I'm not familiar with?
2. What if I want to block crossovers with too many fandoms?
For problem 1, we have two options: block every fandom that we don't know, or whitelist only the fandoms that we do.
I'll start with the first option, which is the route I have taken and also somewhat inefficient, though it does allow me to be pleasantly surprised by fandoms I forgot existed. (For example, I don't read Elder Scrolls fics on their own, but "characters get stranded in Skyrim" is a really fun premise that I'm glad I stumbled across.)
Mostly this works exactly the same as normal tag blocking, since fandom tags are still just tags. But I did run into a problem. Say you don't know much about the Batman franchise so you want to block it. There's a lot of different fandoms included in that, from cartoons to movies to comics, and you could grab all of them at once in a filter blocking the phrase "Batman".
But what if somebody tagged a crossover fic that is in fandoms I know with something like "Blorbo Baggins thinks he's Batman"? A filter like that would block that fic. I could fix this problem by finding and filtering every single individual fandom tag with Batman in it, but I can say from experience that doing this is very annoying.
To get around the problem, we just tell the filter to only focus on those links if they happen to be the child of a particular class, in this case the "fandoms" class, like so:
.blurb:has(.fandoms > a[href*="Batman"]) {   display: none !important; }
This actually works for a whole bunch of different classes, and lets us do something else really helpful that'll get its own post later, namely blocking every relationship tag with a particular character in it with just one filter.
More generally, you can block by tag type like this:
.blurb:has(.type  > a[href*="Banned%20Phrase"]) {   display: none !important; }
Where .type is replaced by: .fandoms for fandom tags .warnings for archive warnings .relationships for relationship tags .characters for character tags .freeforms for freeform tags
And Banned%20Phrase is replaced by whatever phrase you'd like to block.
Okay, but like. This still involves blocking a ridiculous number of tags. Case in point, I'm up to sixteen site skins solely dedicated to blocking fandoms, each with nine filters in it. And counting.
So instead, we set up a filter that blocks any fic that has a fandom tag that isn't on a specific whitelist, like so:
.blurb:has(.fandoms > a:not(a[href$="/tags/Fandom1/works"], a[href$="/tags/Fandom2/works"])) {   display: none !important; }
The a:not() part selects for every tag that isn't in the parenthetical, and .fandoms > works as above, specifying that we only want to block tags for not being on this list if they're fandom tags.
Alright. On to MegaCrossovers!
So, it turns out you can block any fic with at least n fandom tags, using a brand new selector, nth-of-type(). The final filter looks like this:
.blurb:has(h5.fandoms > .tag:nth-of-type(n)) {   display: none !important; }
(If anybody's reading this after finding the code I put up on Ao3, this is slightly different from the filter there—now that I've been working with CSS a bit more I've realized I literally do not know how the hell that code worked, just that it did, and this version also worked when I tested it. This time for reasons I actually sorta understand!)
So! The "h5.fandoms" bit is specifically looking at the section of a fic blurb that contains all the fandom tags. The little ">" symbol looks for a tag nested directly inside the .fandoms class. Then, "nth-of-type()" looks for an element that is the "nth" sibling—basically, the nth item of some class with the same parent.
What this does is look for a fic, that has a fandoms section, that has an nth tag. So if we use n = 10, this filter will catch any fic that has a 10th fandom tag—and will remove it. Which means that to allow fics with up to 3 tags, we'd pick n = 4.
(Other Ao3 tagblocking things)

Are there any ways that a religion is meaningfully different from a cult?
Over the years, there have been a number of pundits who've suggested distinctions between cults and religions. These have included:
the amount of real estate they own
the number of followers
the amount of political influence they have
religions are large, popular cults, cults are small, unpopular religions
cults are headed by someone who knows it's a scam; in a religion that person is dead
I think there is a distinction, and I think Steven Hassan's BITE Model of Authoritarian Control is a good way of making this distinction. BITE stands for Behavior, Information, Thought and Emotional Control.
I've posted about this before, but I'll link to the official site as well as my tag.
https://freedomofmind.com/cult-mind-control/bite-model/
https://religion-is-a-mental-illness.tumblr.com/tagged/Steven%20Hassan
https://religion-is-a-mental-illness.tumblr.com/tagged/religion%20vs%20cult
If you look at the methods involved, religions match several of these types of control. but generally don't match all or even most.
Xians, for example, still live in the world and aren't banned from reading non-Xian books, watching non-Xian movies, etc. Mainstream Xians are not (generally) banned from seeing non-Xian doctors or therapists, or using non-Xian medications. Of course, this is not true for all Xian denominations, since many score higher, or even much higher, than others - Jehovah's Witnesses, for example.
On the other hand, Scientology matches super-highly on the BITE Model. I think you could tick just about everything.
I suppose it really comes down to a question of gradation. How many things does it have to match on before you call it a cult? All religions exhibit some of these, and it may be argued that where a religion turns into a cult is a bit indistinct, as it's more of a continuum than a hard category.
The question is whether its effects, intentions and goals are healthy or unhealthy.
From: https://freedomofmind.com/cult-mind-control/influence-continuum/
Tumblr media
But I think the distinction, in principle at least, needs to be there if only because cults do not necessarily have to be based on explicitly supernatural or divine claims.
If you look at Alcoholics Anonymous, for example, it matches very highly on the BITE Model. One is supposed to identify oneself as an alcoholic as part of one's identity, there are internal mechanisms for policing each other, people who leave are "fallen," you never "graduate" - that is, you never get to a point where you've mastered the skills to go out on your own and live your life, it's a lifelong commitment.
Wokeness also scores very highly here. Cancel culture, "doing the work," "a lifelong commitment," "no one is ever done," trigger warnings, microaggressions, assumed guilt, redefining words, monitoring, shunning, etc, it's highly and creepily authoritarian.
Which is to say that cults are not necessarily a subset of what we would recognize as a traditional religion. They may have traits that make them pseudo-religious or religious-like, but the BITE model gives us specific methods and behaviors to look for, rather than a vague sense of a group seeming kind of culty, and without getting tied up in a debate over whether a a group is a religion or not.
This also doesn’t mean that we should just refrain from criticizing a religion or denomination simply because it isn’t highly authoritarian/cult-like. Authoritarianism is just one problem. We can reject and criticize even moderate religions or denominations for other reasons. Such as the fact they aren’t true.

this could be totally something that you dont want to write which is totally fine as this is a pretty specific situation but im having a lot of anxiety because i was recently diagnosed with a chronic illness that really should have been diagnosed at least 15 years ago, im now going through hospital appointments and scans and its all so scary as what i have can be life threatening, i have a scan on tuesday which im nervous about and depending on the results of that i will possibly be needing a brain scan sooner than anticipated.it sounds so corny but having someone in my life that was supportive and understanding of the stress that this causes would be such a breath of fresh air. currently my mum is coming with me to my appointments despite me being 19 but she's very much in denial about the whole thing and wont talk about it. sounds cringe af but i want an irl peter parker to be there with me through it all.
Okay this message hit me really hard. I feel for you so much. When I was 16 I was diagnosed with cancer. It should have been an easy cancer to deal with (if you can call any cancer easy) but apparently I had been living with it since I was a toddler. Despite having random weird health issues all my life, it was never caught until I was 16. So it was in really late stages and I needed a lot of really invasive treatments for the next few years of my life. It's something that, at 30, I am still dealing with the lasting effects of all the treatments I had. I used so much music and books and shows and movies to help me escape. It helps so much to fall into your own imagination and fully embrace your fantasies during that time. I promise you, it is not at all cringe. If you have a comfort character, use them. Let them fill up all your thoughts until you've complete dissociated from all the medical shit going on around you. I used to walk through the hospital halls to whatever appointment I had and 100% imagined my favs being there with me. It's not weird. I mean, maybe it is, but being weird is a good thing.
If I can help in any way, I will! I'm absolutely going to write this. If you want I can add you to a tag list when I post it or I can just link it back to this message. I didn't want to wait to answer though because I feel very strongly about this and about people's comfort characters and using Peter to make someone feel less alone is my favorite thing.
I have to work until 7 tonight but when I get home, I'll start working on it right away! I'm pushing this one to the top of my list of works to complete.
I hope you get good news and I'll be thinking about you! If you ever need more Peter comfort, never be afraid to let me know, I'd be more than happy to write anything for you (or anyone).

Saw this video game tag thing pop up on my dash a few days ago. Wanted to do it.
1. First game you played obsessively? Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, I believe I was 5yo. Still waiting on that FF7 Remake treatment.
Tumblr media
2. A game that has influenced you creatively? Writing, drawing, etc. Well if I play a game and like it, then I'll create sims of it. Does that count?
3. Who did you play with as a kid? My brother from the day I was born.
4. Who do you play with now? My brother FROM THE DAY I WAS BORN.
5. Ever use cheat codes? I wasn't lying when I made this post. {link}
6. Ever buy strategy guides? Yes! Mainly to look at the artwork though. (Don't need no guide!)
7. Any games you have multiple copies of? Lots of games, most being Left 4 Dead with 6 copies (3 Xbox 360, 1 PC case, 2 PC digitally.) What can I say, its a GOOD GAME!
8. Rarest/Most expensive game in your collection? Gold cartridge Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time (maybe that's rare?)
Tumblr media
9. Most regrettable purchase? I don't regret my purchases, but I have received games I have never played like Cubix (PS2) no clue where that game came from, but I have it somehow. Madagascar (Xbox 360) came with my Xbox 360, never opened it from its case. And Monsters Inc. Scream Arena (Gamecube) or something... it was a gift.
10. Ever go to a midnight game release or stand in line for hours? No, because then I'd have to interact with people.
11. Have you ever made new friends from playing video games? I'm only friends with people BECAUSE of video games, so yes.
12. Ever get picked on for liking games? No, that'd be ridiculous.
13. A game you’ve never played that everyone else has? Probably a lot, I'd say Call of Duty, but I technically played CoD 1, 2, and 4. The campaign mode was alright, but I don't really care for CoD games at ALL.
14. Favorite game music? Koji Kondo and Grant Kirkhope are two BIG ones.
15. If it was a requirement to get a game related tattoo, what would you pick? Triforce is the most basic option, but I'd rather not get a tattoo.
16. Favorite game to play with your friends IRL? Super Smash Bros. Brawl with hacks, but that was over a decade ago.
Tumblr media
17. Ever lose a friend over a game? No, that'd be ridiculous.
18. Would you date someone that hates gaming? No, that'd be RIDICULOUS.
19. Favorite handheld console? PSP. 3DS is great, but PSP Monster Hunter has ALL of my portable gaming memories. Like playing in school after End of Grade tests with my friend.
20. Game that you know like the back of your hand? Sims 4 I like to think I know everything about Left 4 Dead. Quite a bit about Monster Hunter, more so of a series though than a specific game.
21. Game that you didn’t like or understand as a kid but love now? I'd say Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic. I loved it as a kid, but had a lot of complex pen & paper RPG mechanics that I never understood. I understand a lot more of it now, but its still complex as all heck. I just know you hit things, they die.
22. Do you wear game related clothing/accessories? That's the only thing I wear.
23. The game that you’ve logged the most hours into? Not sure so I'll list a few. Sims 4, Smash Bros. Brawl, Monster Hunter (its a series though), or Left 4 Dead
24. First Pokemon game? Leaf Green
25. Were you ever an arcade game player? No, don't like paying to play.
26. Ever form any gaming rivalries? No.
27. Game that makes you rage? I don't get mad at games, but I had a custom modded Hard Eight mutation in Left 4 Dead that is absolute bullsh*t!
28. Ever play in a tournament? No, because then I'd have to interact with people.
29. What is your gaming set up? A giant wall of video game consoles spanning from NES to Switch, 4 TVs, but I sit at a desk with a PC.
30. How many consoles do you own? "I own every console that's ever existed." - I Don't Play Games When I Play Games (My STRENTH) original song by Smooth McGroove BUT no seriously I own 32 consoles including handhelds.
31. Does the 3DS and/or Virtual Boy hurt your eyes or give you headaches? Yes. 3DS gave me headaches though I only really played with the 3D feature in Ocarina of Time 3D. I think my eyes broke because I couldn't get my 3D to work very well after.
32. Did you ever play a game based on your favorite show/cartoon/movie/comic? Sure I play games based on a lot of things. Literally any anime game. If I had to pick Dragon Ball Xenoverse is kinda like a dream Dragon Ball game. Oh, Attack on Titan 2 is pretty neat too!
Tumblr media
33. Did you ever have any bootleg games or plug-n-play games? Some SEGA plug-n-play thing once. Played it like once and now its lost to time (or my closet.)
34. Do either of your parents play video games? Yes. Mom and Dad played NES Super Mario Bros. My Dad went HARD at that game until he saved the Princess. Then he quit forever.
35. Ever work in a game store? Or do you have a favorite game shop? "Hi. Welcome to Gamestop!"I never want to hear that again, but it was my main store until I went full digital/ online orders.
36. Have you ever shed actual blood, sweat or tears over a game? No, I don't tend to get upset or emotional, but Bill dying in Left 4 Dead made me pretty pissed.
Tumblr media
37. Have you played E.T. for the Atari 2600? Do you think that’s the worst game ever, or do you have another nomination? Never played it. I don't really play "bad" games, but maybe Sims 4.
38. A game you’re ashamed to admit that you like? The Sims 4
39. A sequel that you would die for them to make? Dragon's Dogma 2 WHICH I think is actually in development, so I'd have to say Fallout New Vegas 2. C'mon Bethesda you cowards, hand the keys back over to Obsidian so they can make another good Fallout game!
40. What to you think of virtual reality headsets or motion controls? Two part question, two answers. VR Headset to immerse in world, yes. Motion Controls, no.
41. A genre that you just can’t get into? MOBAs and MMOs. I don't like paying to keep playing.
42. Maybe it wasn’t your first game, but what was the game that started you on your path to nerdiness? Nintendo 64 opened me up to what video games could be as a kid. Sad to say my parents' NES didn't really do that for me. And years later Fallout 3 was a big game changer for me too.
Tumblr media
43. Ever play games when you really should have been concentrating on something else? Every day of my LIFE.
44. Arcade machine that has consumed the most of your quarters? None. I'd rather emulate.
45. How are you at Mario Kart? Pretty dang good. 3-STARS MARIO KART WII, BABY!
46. Do you like relaxing games like Animal Crossing or Harvest Moon? Yes, both of those. I preferred when Animal Crossing had more character to it. New Horizons looks so pretty, but feels so bland compared to classic AC.
47. Do you like competitive games? No. Not really. Usually amongst friends or if I can get competitive against AI Bots. I love my machine bot friends cause they don't cry like 10 year olds when they lose.
48. How long does it take your to customize your player character? Too long. I've seriously restarted games because I wasn't happy with my character's appearance.
49. In games where you can pick your class, do you always tend to go for the same type of character? Yes, I am always the magic man, my brother is always brute warrior, and my friend is the ranger.
Tumblr media
50. If you were a game designer, what masterpiece would you create? I don't really know. Honestly, I'd rather mod already good games to make them better than create something completely new.
51. Have you ever played a game for so long that you forgot to eat or sleep? No, that'd be ridiculous. But I've had a friend fall asleep playing games at my house 3 different times and currently dozes off during our Minecraft sessions. So, maybe that's not a completely ridiculous thing after all.
52. A game that you begged your parents for as a kid? Kirby 64 apparently. My brother tells me we had to count out pennies to buy it. I must've been too young with no recollection, but I believe it.
53. What’s your opinion on DLC these days? It's good if its not in the game's files from the beginning and is actually developed AFTER launch... and pre-order bonuses should be standard DLC a month or two later. Some games have content lost to time because of that pre-order bullsh*t.
54. Do you give in to Steam sales? Of course. If you want a game and its on sale then why not? I typically wait just for Steam sales to get games.
55. Did you ever make someone you hated in the Sims and did mean stuff to them? No? I typically make people and characters I like in Sims. I've made villains like Dio, but he's an anime villain and I don't really HATE him despite the horrible things he's done.
56. Did you ever play Roller Coaster Tycoon and kill off your guests? No. Never played that game.
57. Did you ever play a game to 100% or get all of the achievements? I try to for all the games I really like.
58. If you can only play 3 games for the rest of your life, which ones do you pick? The Sims 4, Skyrim, & Fallout: New Vegas. Mods make them live forever. Left 4 Dead and Monster Hunter are good choices too.
59. Do you play any cell phone games? Those aren't games.
60. Do you know the Konami Code? No? But I'll take a guess. Is it make an IP and forget it exists?
61. Do you trade in your games or keep them forever? Keep forever... even the bad ones.
62. Ever buy a console specifically to play one game? PS4 Pro for Monster Hunter World. It was basically for early access since the PC version was being developed and releasing after PS4, but I don't like waiting.
63. Ever go to a gaming convention or tournament? Sort of. Been to anime cons and walked into the gaming tournament rooms only to walk out less than 10 minutes later.
64. Ever make a TV or monitor purchase based on what would be best for gaming? No, but I'm going to be doing that soon, hopefully.
65. Ever have a Game Genie, Game Shark or Action Replay? Did it ever mess up your game’s save file? GameShark for N64, PS2, Gameboy, and Action Replay for Gamecube, DS, 3DS. And no not really, I would cheat responsibly... but there was this one time at school my friend and I borrowed another friend's Gameboy game, loaded it up with my Gameshark, tried playing, it crashed, loaded it back up, save file corrupted... we just stared at each other jaws dropped, "Here's your game back, dude. Make sure you don't play it til you get back home!"
66. Did you ever have have an old Nokia with Snake on it? No, but I remember seeing them on billboards in the game DRIV3R on PS2.
67. Do you have a happy gaming-related childhood memory you want to share? Every game I play is filled with happy memories (mostly.)
68. Ever save up a ton of tickets in an arcade to get something cool? These tiger plushes. My brother got white and I got orange. They were the coolest. Got a butt load of tickets from some jackpot spinning light game thing as I was good at the timing with repeated jackpot hits.
69. In your opinion, best game ever made? I've played quite a few masterpiece games, but to pick one, I'd say Fallout: New Vegas
Tumblr media
70. Very first game you ever beat? Super Mario 64. I was a mere child on a Sunday morning and ate celebratory pancakes made by my Dad.
Tumblr media
Wow, that was long... I get the feeling this was supposed to be a "send me ask with numbers" thing, but answering all at once is more fun.
