I'm not enough of a book purist to not being able to enjoy headcanons, crackships etc (as a matter of fact I do love them). But seeing newbies unironically and completely serious considering aemond to "trying to be the perfect son", or "heleana is the people's princess" or "rhaenyra is calm, collected and strategic", "Daemon is the family's clown, the agent of chaos" legit gives me a headache because they are nothing like that.

And I'm not talking about ppl writing fanfics with this type of characterization, but ppl legit having takes based on the terrible portrayal of the show. And even when they go to read f&b they still have the image the show gave them because they don't seem capable of letting go.

it just feels like Jon Snow/Daenerys Targaryen character assassination all of again.

There are so many people who consider Jon to be basically ned 2.0 and Dany a mad queen-girlboss-slay

the skyrim gods having many different names makes a lot of sense considering the amount of cultures present on Nirn that are able to interpret the divines they witness but also it makes it so fucking hard to remember who the fuck is who

#ok with the daedra it's easier for me to remember because the player interacts with daedra a *lot* more often than they interact with aedra #but also sometimes the wiki will use both names for a god interchangeably without telling me who tf they're talking about #and some of that is different god names are attached to different forms or personalities or whatever #similar to how in PJO the roman gods and greek gods were the-same-but-not #where the change in era led to a change in personality and appearance and stuff sort of #which makes sense as the gods of Nirn gain power from being worshipped #and if one of your names is being worshipped for one thing and another name is being worshipped for a different one #then it'd make sense that those names would slowly Become those aspects in a way #kinda like having a 'work persona' vs a 'home persona'. or like being a system. #but also i know that Shor and Lorkhan are the same fucking guy can you just fucking call him one thing please 😭😭 #if i decide to try and search in a page for an Aedra i have to search like five different names just to get a hit 😭 #the daedra also have tons of names!!! it's just that they're actually referred to consistently in the games #because they actually have Quest Markers and shit like that #most of the Aedra aren't really referred to for any quests or otherwise referred to out of character dialogue
