Birthday Week Arrivals

We're finally back, after some time away for birthday plans (and rescheduled birthday plans)

We spent two weekends searching through Brooklyn and Flushing for toys. Between thrifting and some very cool stores, this is what we ended up with.

And what an esoteric array of toys we have here. Everything from indie building brick sets (that incredible Metal Slug kit) to broken Kinkeshi (he just needed a little love)

Some especially good thrift finds here.  Sofubi Belial and Paradox Fighter Gaim were $3usd, and most of the mini riders were $1usd each!

There will be extensive pictures of all of these toys coming soon. I'm way too excited to get them into a display. Especially the thrift finds. Just a gorgeous array of toys that I'm happy to give a new home.

Introducing Hawthorn the Adventurer in soft vinyl!

I'm starting with two colorways inspired by the various types of Chinese art I grew up seeing and being surrounded by, like ink paintings, hardstone carvings, ceramics, etc.

The first is Celadon Pearl, a pearlescent pale green; and the second is Glacial Jade (GID), a marbled mix of celadon green, translucent teal, and opaque white (these parts glow green). Since each of the marbled ones look so different, I've posted all of them in the shop listing so you can pick your preferred one (if it's available). The marbled one is limited to 20 pieces. They will ship out later this week.

My Father's in law got me an Xplus Godzilla figure for Xmas!

I'm so excited! I've never owned a vinyl figure before, and Smirking Goji 54 is definitely one of my favorites. Problem is, I may be a bit out of my depth with this guy.

For the folks that follow me not for the Godzilla stuff, vinyl figures are a subsect of the hobby that can get pretty intense, almost its own thing entirely. This is like giving a Warhammer player a company of lead napoleonic miniatures. This is giving a Gunpla enjoyer a train diorama kit. This is a level of fandom that I admire, but always seemed one level above me.

Godzilla comes in pieces:

The detail is amazing, but despite being into miniature painting and gunpla, I have no idea how to work with soft vinyl. What glues should I use? What about paints?

The instructions aren't that helpful:

These are not Gunpla level instructions. It basically says: look at the picture. Yours should look like this when you're done. Dont use the wrong paint or glue. Do not eat the glue, you moron.

So now I'm looking through contradictory YouTube and reddit posts, hoping to get help. So far, all I know is I need to buy a hair dryer. If anyone here has advice on where to start, please help!

At least I can find solace in knowing I own a miniature of Godzilla's tongue, and that's not nothing
