My guess as to why glimmer blamed adora for angellas death (and not catra cause they never talk about it for some reason) is cause the writers went "whoops adoras friendship with glimmer is too healthy in comparison to the person we're supposed to be shipping her with (catra). Better make her a bad friend real quick and have her act like catra to... Make catra look better as a romantic prospect."

that's honestly a good guess!

imo tho, while glimmer and adora's friendship is somewhat better than c//a's relationship as a whole, glimmer is very flawed in writing terms, which makes her more irritably flawed in character terms.

if that didn't make sense, what i mean is that because they made very questionable writing choices with glimmer's character, they made glimmer frustrating as a result.

i do try to separate character from bad writing if i can, and there are more...better glimmer moments than catra, which is why i don't mind fanon glimmer/glimmadora ( as opposed to fanon catra/c//a ), but in terms of canon, the relationship ( platonic or otherwise ) between glimmer and adora, and bow tbh, would still have to be thoroughly explored.

i wanna love glimmer as a character, really, but they made a lot of writing decisions that aren't just catra as a whole that make so much of the cast unlikable or bland and boring.

if you don't agree, that's okay, and i'm not trying to say your POV is invalid! it definitely isn't, and i still agree that this is one of the possibilities of why this happened!

but for me, the show made it hard to actually like a lot of the characters as a whole as opposed to liking only certain scenes of them ( for ex, i love adora and bow as a whole, despite how underwritten they both are, while i only liked/loved glimmer in certain scenes :< ).

Captain is well-known to be a very untalkative person, to say the least. Why is he so silent all the time? Can he actually talk?

Once upon a time…

Hans exhaled through his nose deeply— another long day of standing by Herr Major as he sat and observed the Letze Battalion arranging themselves upon his lever-operated chair. Montana seemed preoccupied with his eye candy enough to allow Hans to step back and loosen shoulders from his attentive stand; and just maybe, slip into his blurred memories for just a moment.

Berlin, 1943

Hans leapt from wall-to-rooftop of the many bombarded townhouses that littered the newly sprung battleground the invading Nazi forces blossomed in the hopes of weeding out the last of Germany’s Jewish population. Screams and crying filled the air he glided across in his voluminous lupine form. It was a living hell that reminded him of the many locales who’d chased his pack here in the first place.

Millenium, on the other hand, could not be bothered by such blind and childish ambitions that the Führer peddled to the ignorant and scared. There was a much more important reason they strode in alongside the Panzers sweeping the streets:

Pest control.

Behind Hans was the only other pack member he could see; this one tinted with a fine cobalt mist as they met neck-to-neck. So close were the woods that a smile grew across his smoky fanged muzzle. Faster they grew now, their paws striking violently into the terracotta tiles that line the roofs— now blasted asunder by the pace of these two hounds. They were almost free…

“FEUER!”

The crack of a rifle piercing the air brought with it another horrid sound: The miserable echoing cries of Hans’ friend. Günsch kept running, only to halt when he saw that they were now set ablaze— rolling and twitching off the roof as their hazy pelt smoldered and crumbled in flame. No doubt about it, it was silver. He couldn’t go now, not when he’d enter the brush with no one left. He had to try.

When Hans finally landed where his ally fell, it was too late. His pack mate’s body had been riddled with gunfire that caused the corpse to bubble and simmer. The loud crank of machinery caused the now frantic Hans to sharply turn his head, realizing a massive spotlight now shone upon him and the brick wall he stood against. And then… he heard clapping

“Vell vell vell… you gave us quite zhe chase…”

From behind the floodlights of what he could only assume was a van, Hans saw the silhouette of a short and round figured strapped head to toe in SS uniform; in his hand a Luger pistol pointed directly at the the cornered wolf.

“You are truly somezhing, mein schädling… definitely a good show! Now, as you know, your comrades are all dead; Reduced to a fine paste. Tch, awww such a shame, veally… Silver is such a primative zhing to fall to…” The man paused, rotating his gun to to observe it’s fine details, practically trailing off.

“…ZO! Perhaps you’d like to not vaste your life dying against ze brick vall like a coward, und join my ranks. Not a bad deal, I’d say!” That sentence drove Hans to his breaking point. The humiliation, to think he’d even suggest that. Hans got up, spread his arms, and let out an erupting shout of retaliation the boomed through the alleyways.

“NEEEIIINNNNNNNN!!!!”

The air grew quiet, Hans unable to see the troops that now stare in awe. No one had retaliated Herr Major before; Montana took exception to this example with a grin. A silver bullet tore through Hans’ thigh— blasting it to shreds with flecks of flesh and blood spattering the wall behind. Hans couldn’t stand, and whimpered as the traces singed and chewed away his exposed muscle and bone. The major just grinned wider.

“Vell! Quite zhe display of force! Zhat is just a taste of vhat awaits you if you resist any furzher… now choose~”

….

“N-….NNNN-”

Hans shook his head from the bad memory; He realized he was about to speak up. In front of the Major. His tongue pressing to the roof of his mouth as if ghosting the same “nein” he’d hollered ages ago. Looking to his side jolted fear into him— The Major saw, smirking back with swirling golden eyes. Captain straightened himself out, eyes forward and collar affixed close over his mouth. He knew if he uttered anything other than a grunt of affirmation, he risked saying something that would make the Major unhappy; something that would require grave reprimand. Something that would end his life as the last of his kind.

No…. Not like that… not to him…

I saw your post about same sex and Sapphic relationships in media and how not every pair of gay/bi/etc people have to be together and homie, I get that there are a lot of other ways to show love in lgbt+ shows but dude. Canon romantic relationships of all kinds is one of the big goals for our community. The "unrequited love" and such was what we Always used to see in shows and media and books. Always hinted at just enough to make audiences hopeful but never any follow through. We are LUCKY to have LGBT+ relationships and romances on screen nowadays and a lot of younger people don't remember the days when no one in the community even thought it was possible to see a pair of women or a pair of men kiss on TV or in a movie in a way that wasn't just a joke or going to be played off. Yes, we need more lgbt+ friendships on air but not at the sacrifice of the romantic relationships our community and our elders have fought to be shown and accepted as normal for decades now. If you wanna see pining and unrequited love and "will they, won't they", you can easily find it in the past. Typically it became queerbaiting of some kind if the authors refused to acknowledge the obvious subtext or in some cases, people would retcon it in after the dust has settled and people can't refuse to watch something if they have to see gay people being gay.

But comparing things to the "control group", it's exceptionally rare that showrunners don't try to shoehorn in some kind of tension between straight people. If showrunners don't, fans are always THRILLED to ship them. Until shows get better writers that know how to write friendships of any kind, I'm sticking firmly in the camp of happier to see the gays kissing rather than hearing showrunners whine about how they gave us representation so why aren't we happy to see said rep not acting on their sexuality in any way.

i'm sorry for offending you, and i might've explained my thoughts poorly.

i do not believe we have to sacrifice one or the other, or that there's anything wrong with queers kissing and the "obvious" ( still not sure if that's the right word ) being canon.

what i do believe though is that, especially since comics and other online forms of media ( youtube, for ex ) are becoming more and more diverse and becoming more popular in general, there are a lot of opportunities for different topics of queer romance.

i'm very aware of how difficult it can be for shows/movies specifically, so i think i should've mentioned that i wasn't only talking about TV media, but i'm not sure how relevant that would be in hindsight.

to talk more about the unrequited love conversation, i definitely should've specified more on that! i understand how that can come off as incredibly queerbaiting, and often is, if it was one "potential" queer relationship.

however, i didn't mean to give off that i meant it in that context. i am a writer who makes all of my characters POC + queer, and only not do that in rare circumstances, so it was natural of me to think of what i said in that specific context, instead of how it could come off to others. i apologize for that!

i meant unrequited love, and potential "will they, won't they"s in the context of many already existing queers and queer relationships, rather than the sole relationship with clear queer subtext being used as a bait to lure in the gays.

i know this is less possible to do with TV media than it could be with social media and comics/manga, but i don't feel like that should stop others from trying to play around with these concepts. as time goes on, hopefully society will too, and queer media on TV, books, anything it can be in, can be even MORE diverse!

i'm very sorry for coming off as insensitive and like i want the old things back, this was my own doing by being unclear about my personal experiences of what i was saying. i kinda forgot that not everyone knows what i'm talking about ^^;

TLDR; my discussion was in context of multiple queer people/queer relationships in media, but my wording ended up being misleading and most likely came off as irritated or bitter. and, there is NO problem with having the crystal-clear gays kiss! if they're not unhealthy, let them kiss all they want!
