7 down, 1 to go
We are almost in the home stretch people. One more week, and then this literal shit show will be over
This week we had Thrawn throwing shade, our heroes are reunited, and yet another dumb half hour of chasing our tails...followed by 8 minutes of credits.
First off, these actors clearly, desperately need any sort of combat training. Because everything feels so hollow and slowed down. Ahsoka was never this slow, and yes I know this isn't animation, but if nearly 60 year old Keanu Reeves can make action believable and smooth, so can 44 year old Rosario Dawson. Or 29 year old Natasha Liu Bordizzo. Or 26 year old Eman Esfandi. No hate to these actors (on this specifically) they clearly where just not given any of the proper training to pull of any of this combat believably.
Also, why is this show obsessed with making Ahsoka a FUCKING BAD PILOT. Anakin was the one (I'm assuming) who taught her to fly...so why isn't she good at it??? Every time she gets into the cockpit things immediately go badly.
Speaking of the combat, why is every shot in that chase sequence one of the same 4 angles nevers deviating from the simple tracking shot? Why is it so BORING? They could have had fun with these little bumper cars that the little hermit crab people have. Also, I struggle to believe that a species that lives on the homeworld of the Dathomiri witches are 'peaceful' and 'unarmed' and yet haven't been wiped out eons ago. Like, it's the ewoks again, but worse, because the ewoks at least had a believable amount of weapons and traps for their carnivorous teddy bear lifestyle!
Jumping back a moment to the cold open, once again this show is making me actively route against the New Republic. Remember when the New Republic was something that was to be celebrated? A representation of how good triumphs over evil, that love wins out in the end? That a father could see the error of his ways, and give everything he has to ensure that his children get to see a world better than the one he built?
3PO showing up is just one more in the long line of lazy cameos meant to engage the children and pacify the sceptics. I think we all know that if they could get away with it, Disney would have rolled out a plastic CGI soulless version of Leia. Hopefully that will never happen. Still don't understand why they didn't just have Zeb accompany 3PO to make Leia throwing around her weight more official.
Once again, I voice my complaint at this show's refusal to acknowledge Kallus. Sabine told Ezra about Zeb and Hera, why'd Alexsandr get left out? :(
Anyway, like I said, not a ton happens.
Baylan sits back and send Shin to do his dirty work. Unclear if he is still totally on board with everything that is happening.
Ahsoka swoops in at the last minute to save Ezra and Sabine.
Thrawn says "Anakin Skywalker" and doesn't immediately ask who that was, so I am taking that as a itty-bitty win for the Thrawn Alliances fans.
Oh, and the makeup still looks like absolute dog shit.
And it is very obvious that this is all going to end on a big old fucking cliffhanger to set up the Heir to the Empire movie.
So yeah, I hate everything about this, including the fact that we now have confirmation that Sabine is at least a little force sensitive.

RIP Bunny Munro
Tumblr media
pluto 3.57 taurus
Matt will actually live as Bunny Munro become (actor's heart) and for once, the heartbreaker (his wife in separation) will notice everything he does is a living joke if not abiding to his personal needs as much as he is willing to naturally conceive the woman in him to go for him to actually become the full nature of his character, so the wife leaves (Islamic reasoning) and he becomes Bunny Munro. Bunny Munro is a character based off me so Matt is not personally inclined to my mother tongue which is how Bunny Munro survives his character as a man in a dark comedy about life, but specifically speaking, Bunny Munro is indecent of Pashto which is how he usually talks like he has close loved ones to actually see him, but no. the actor may have that for a few weeks after the show itself is complete, like filming and everything in between because the sociopathic part is that he needs to have sex to wash off that heart and skin that maintains himself, so Matt actually rejected his wife's dream to be with him for his part and only his part to succeed him only which is how Bunny Munro does (he is a lot like me if i had a great dream, but dare i say. i will never be a man, as much as i know because Bunny does get the woman in the show but not in real life) and what i went through when i was struggling with mental health (death in Islam if i stress out as an autistic person of heart because individuals like these need care to the point where marriage is the only way to go for people like her to live because the heart maintains the family) and Matt declining my reason to go back to my mother is how he usually treats his exes because he has a misogynistic heart that he will accept help from people who will fuck him up senselessly (good people are bad people but bad people are good people so the satanic version of that is that he is naturally bad to expect people of him to think him good..... like Keanu Reeves if he did not have the filter coveted over him from the press) so Matt will actually begin to sustain his heart by acting like as if my mother tongue had a lot to do with him because Pashto has a lot to do with how we speak with such erotic heart to the point where we start swearing but we don't actually swear when we cover it up by doing it from the heart, which is why we don't expose our deeds (bad) to the public because everything we do is a sign of good heart and we take that for granted that we always ask for more (Islamic ideal but heartbreakers cure) Matt's overindulgence of heart exposed to him by manners of speech and indecent acts (which i suggested he should take his erotic fantasies to the weight of the world because i usually see it as paradise to the point where i have a guard inside my mind that does not actually allow it when i know my guard is not actually there and it's because of psychological abuse from Matt alone because he did ask his mother for me to get arranged immediately after i hit the age of 18 because marital separation lasting too long will be severed by causes of evil coming inside of the woman first before the man and it is actually highly highly illegal for the wife to be left alone that she should have never witnessed the evil eye wanting her life more than he would, so actually speaking. I have been through Matt's life in heaven than i did in hell, my reason to leave home is actually marriage alone but in Matt's case, he fears heart in heaven. he fears high energy
Tumblr media
that's literally purely evil, so to naturally burn off sins. you simply do good to sustain a heart become by being put under pressure in hell which is not even there because how Matt will severely die for it is just him and his heart burning up temperature physically to the point where he will just overrun himself by just breathing

The Mosley Review: Best Films of 2023
Tumblr media
Well! 2023 has come to an end and what a tumultuous year it has been for the entertainment industry. There were some shake ups on release dates and some films were shifted to 2024 for a number of reasons. Whether it was because of the massive SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes or because the films were rushed, it didn't stop a crop of good films from coming out in 2023. This years' list may not be as long as others, but it is still my pick for the very best Hollywood had to offer. As always, if you want a more detailed review of all the films on my list, just click the title of each film. Now, without further ado, here's my list of the best films of 2023!
Tumblr media
John Wick 4: There are very few films that start out as a small, simple, and almost as an underdog. The original film came out of nowhere with minimal promotion and it grew into becoming one of the greatest action film franchises of all time. From beginning to end, this film was a finale that incorporated any and every from of martial arts, gunfoo and even paid homage to classic samurai sword fighting. It was thrilling all the way through and a surprisingly emotional end to something that only happens once in a lifetime. Keanu Reeves is now one of the greatest action stars of all time and I hope this franchise stays gone on this high note and never revisit it.
Tumblr media
When Evil Lurks: As a horror fan, you get many recommendations a year and a healthy helping of so many films. Alot of them stick to a familiar formula, but end up being nothing you haven't seen before by the finale. I'm always looking for a horror film to keep me on the edge of my seat with anxiety, wonder, nausea from the imagery and above all, terror. This film Argentinian film did that in spades. The thought of giving the possession genre a more biohazard twist and sticking to the rules that were set was refreshing and loved every second of it. This film ripped the safety net out from under you as it plunges you deeper into the dark and grotesque nightmare. What a magnificent horror film.
Tumblr media
Oppenheimer: Lets face it. We all wanted to see the great Christopher Nolan tackle the subject of an atomic bomb and to see it detonate through his specific IMAX lens. We got that, but what we also got was a truly haunting and sometimes disturbing examination of man that became one of the most genius and destructive minds in human history. The fact that we delve into the titular characters’ life, the events preceding, during and following the effects of his creation was truly mesmerizing. We got to see the emotional and psychological toll it took on the brilliant scientist and all the others that wanted to be apart of that historical moment. The court drama that ensued was fascinating and gave a face to true villain and an outstanding supporting performance from Robert Downey Jr. This was truly one of the best dramas of the year and one that I'm glad to have experienced in its full 3 hour IMAX glory.
Tumblr media
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-verse: With the surprise the first film was, you would be hard pressed to deliver something on the same scale or better than the awesome and stylish origin story for a character that really wasn't embraced in the beginning. The story may have taken some familiar turns with Miles Morales in the beginning, but to open with Gwen Stacey / Spider-Gwen and to go through the emotional journey between her and her father was amazing. The team behind the ground breaking animation has done it yet again and mixed in the use of water colors, inks and other forms of animation from different nations. It was a sight truly to behold and nothing short of an art gallery in every frame. The intensity of the story going from a kid trying to find his place in the universe to defying all by doing his own thing was great and frustrating at the same time. This film has one of the best cliffhangers in cinema history and I can't wait to see how this story comes to a close.
Tumblr media
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3: Few storytellers get the honor of finishing their stories unhindered by outside influences. Even fewer get the chance to end a trilogy the way they intended and with a through line that keeps paying off the more you revisit each entry before the conclusion. The Guardians films started off as the outcast heroes that nobody knew anything about and as we fell in love with this ragtag team, we got to see them become a real family. The emotional origin story of Rocket Raccoon was in the seams of Vol. 1 and 2 and it now comes full circle with one of the best performances of Bradley Cooper's career. The High Evolutionary made for an excellent villain that is also a brilliant commentary on the state of a certain company that is seeking to execute the same plans of reconstruction in its many cinematic properties. You can look deeper into James Gunn's brilliant writing and directing and his message was clear. The Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy ends on such a sweet and powerful note that many have not reached in so long and I am so glad the actors, production team and many others fought for James Gunn to complete his vision. Definitely one of the best films Marvel Studios has released in years!
Tumblr media
Evil Dead Rise: There truly is something magical happening with this series of films. It seems that everytime we get a new entry to this franchise, somehow they keep getting better and better. The 2013 remake was gnarly and stayed true to the franchise roots and this film does the same by staying small and personal. The story was simple, but the creative scares and intense violence was top notch. The tension was so great and the choice to make it about a family is always a welcomed touch. Just the possession process of the mother alone was horrific and sad. The film progressed and I was very impressed with the practical gore effects and stunt work. Alyssa Sutherland gives an impressive and devilishly gleeful performance as Ellie and definitely is up there for me as one of the best Deadites ever. Sam Raimi's franchise legacy is in very good hands.
And now we've come to the moment you've all been waiting for. For me, this choice was a no brainer and truly broke all the boundaries many films wouldn't pass. The best film of 2023 is.......
Tumblr media
Poor Things: Right from the beginning, this film set its own path and delivered its own take on the coming age story. The unconventional take on the story element of woman birthed of scientists' experiment was something that could've gone horribly in the wrong hands. It’s handled with care and it was truly breathtaking to experience the mental growth of a child in full grown woman's body. Emma Stone was challenged to colour outside the lines by creating a character that discovers her own path recklessly, analytically and with an open mind that was not afraid to challenge societal norms and ideals. She had the best dialogue to make a meal out of and I was never not hungry for more as I was anticipating her reactions. Mark Ruffalo was on another level of joyous vanity and comedy all mixed into one. This is the most energetic, uncompromising and pompous character I've ever seen him portray and he makes you actually care about him by the end of the film. The vocal dance between both Bella and Duncan was the most interesting part of the film and their chemistry was volcanic. The dance sequence was one of my favorite scenes. This was truly the best film of the year for me and I highly recommend this metaphorical dark comedy to any and all that want to see a showstopping cast at their very best.
Alright folks! That was my list of the best films of 2023! It was an interesting year for the horror genre and to end on a such a high note with one of the most unconventional coming of age stories was a treat. Do you agree with my list? Let me know what you think or tell me what your picks of the best films of 2023 are in the comments below. Thanks for reading and here's to 2024!

ABOUT ME
Call me Ky (rhymes with eye)
I'm 22 & a libra
I'm a WOC
I'm sadly a working girly
I'm not straight (I don't have a gender preference)
I use she/her pronouns
I'm pretty introverted & shy
I suffer from depression & anxiety
I've had a tumblr since middle school
This is my 1st time being interactive with others on this app so please be sweet
I literally made this as like a low-key rant diary/Void to scream my interests & thoughts because life, years of trauma,& damn near crippling anxiety has fucked up my social skills & I just need an outlet. I don't expect I guess anyone to respond to this. I just don't want to continue being alone with my feelings & I think this could be a place to start. If anyone does respond to this you're welcome to comment (within reason & with kindness I beg of you),but be warned I'm super shy/anxious & will shy away from responding to messages (think of me as a scared stray & don't shake your pet food can at me too intently). I just want to get all my jitters/hyperfixations/Madness/general feelings & ickiness out. Also just an FYI dni if you're a minor/uncomfortable or triggered of talks of abuse & mental illness/a bigot of any kind/sex stuff (I'm not gonna go on about my nonexistent intimate life don't worry. I don't even really talk about sex like that I just have an interest in femdom stuff from time to time (me being the dom) & I think the psychology of it is interesting as well as the dynamic).
Ok now for the fun stuff
My interests (off the top of my head) include:
Movies
*horror/action/sci-fi/thriller/animated movies from my childhood & "some" of the new stuff
I like most MCU & DCEU movies (I owned a tumblr in the mid to late 2010s I'm practically a veteran. But I will say I have more nostalgia for the older mcu movies, but I kind of fell off in the past few years of fond remembrance outside of fandom for it as a whole. I actually really enjoy most of the new stuff (all of the shows except fatws/some of the 1st season of loki)
My favs include
Studio ghibli (I didn't watch a single movie till the age of 19) specifically Howl's moving castle/Spirited away/princess mononoke/kiki's delivery service/arriety/the cat returns. These movies fill with legit smiles & warmth
All the john wick movies (mf Keanu Reeves)
All of the evil dead movies
The lost boys
Scream 1/2/4/6
The old bratz/Monster high/barbie movies (barbie specifically from the vhs-to before the 2010s)
Jennifer's body
Bride of chucky/seed of chucky/Cult of chucky
The 1st 2 bill & Ted movies
The Matrix/the matrix reloaded

I hope the daily dracula thing leads to people writing and/or linking some analysis on the feminist points made or not made, the lucy/mina homoerotic angle that so many later adaptations end up highlighting, and interpretations specifically on mina and Lucy's povs and roles in the story (which again many adaptations seem to dive into)
Because like. When I read dracula first at age 15 sooooo much went over my head. I remember picking up on how sexist and repressed a society it sounded compared to my 2000s life, at the time without much context to even determine if for it's time it was pushing boundaries or trying to enforce them, and I picked up on the anticlimactic ending which reminded me of HG Wells war of the world's ending (but hg wells novel being a sci fi with a science twist ending I tolerated that ending much better lol). And so like SO much literary analysis and themes exploration of dracula went Right over my head at the time. It wasn't until I watched Coppulas dracula with Keanu Reeves and Winona Ryder that I got how critical Mina was, got some of the points I never picked up from the book, got how Helsing represents Victorian religion and expectations etc and dracula represents a difference to that and mina and Jon are certainly in the middle of that. And then it wasn't until the Japanese Dracula Musical that I really found hammered home how Much Minas pov and power in the story Affects the interpretation so greatly (and likewise Lucy's pov and power in given adaptations shapes those adaptations impressions). And so like? In retrospect now years later, i realize this novel may have been doing more than "shallow horror about obeying Victorian norms or ur evil stab stab like draculas body" that I assumed was all it was when I first read it lol.
I am very much interested in seeing more involved discussion on the things the book touches on ans delves into and what they might mean in the book and in context of its writing. And if anyone knows of any literary discussions/books that delved into it, I'd be very interested in reading them

February 14, 2021: Brokeback Mountain (2005) (Part 1)
Happy Valentine’s Day!
Tumblr media
Or Palentine’s, Galentine’s, Single Persons Appreciation Day, what have you!
Anyway, on this day where we (and the greeting card companies) celebrate love in all of its forms, I think it’s about time to diversify my movie choices a little bit. SO, for the next few days at least, we’re going to change it up, starting with a film that shook the 2005 public’s perceptions of love: Brokeback Mountain.
And who brings this movie to us? Same guy who gave us this:
Tumblr media
And this:
Tumblr media
And would give us this:
Tumblr media
Ang Lee wasn’t originally meant to be the director of the film, as Gus van Sant was signed on to do it. You know, Good Will Hunting, Drugstore Cowboy, that one movie where Una Thurman plays the greatest hitchhiker in the world with giant thumbs, and eventually finds herself meeting multiple people, including Keanu Reeves, Pat Morita (Mr. Miyagi from The Karate Kid), and a group of radicalesbians who like in the Great Plains, coexisting with a group of critically endangered whooping cranes to whom they;’ve fed peyote, while also opposing the intentions of an evil feminine hygiene product company that seeks to take over the land for their factories? YOU KNOW, THAT MOVIE?
Tumblr media
It’s called Even Cowgirls Get the Blues, and I wasn’t even slightly exaggerating with that summary, I SWEAR.
Anyway, he couldn’t do it, and Joel Schumacher also passed on it eventually, so they asked Ang Lee if he’d do it. After CTHD and Hulk, dude was on his way to retire, but after he cried at the end of the script, he accepted the job. AND HISTORY WAS MADE
Tumblr media
Before I get into it, I should probably frank about something. I’m a cissexual, heterosexual man in a straight relationship with my girlfriend. She says hi, by the way. Here she is, a massive Jake Gyllenhaal fan, getting ready to watch this movie for the first time with me:
Tumblr media
Isn’t she lovely? Anyway, just thought I’d be totally transparent about that. Incidentally, I remember when this film came out, as well as the fervor around it. This was JUST as the gay marriage debate was EXPLODING into the public scene, so this was obviously quite the talking point at the time.
Anyway, shall we find out who’s not going to quit whom? SPOILERS AHEAD!!!
Recap
Tumblr media
Cowboys Ennis del Mar (Heath Ledger) and Jack Twist (Jake Gyllenhaal) are waiting outside of a trailer, with Ennis having just arrived  on a truck that reminded me of Optimus Prime, and I’m sorry. They’ve been hired by Joe Aguirre (Randy Quaid) to look after a group of sheep and guide them over Brokeback Mountain, a fictional mountain in Wyoming.
The two finally introduce each other, with Ennis seeming considerably closed off as compared to the open Jack Twist. They head to a bar, where the two get to know each other a but better Jack’s an occasional shepherd, but highly involved in rodeos throughout the year. Ennis, meanwhile, is a regular ranchhand at his family’s farm.
Tumblr media
Time for sheep-herding, as the two guide their flock of sheep on horseback, with soft country guitars playing in the background over all of it. And I gotta say, the music combined with the visuals is giving me this real sleepy ambience vibe that I 100% would watch specifically to fall asleep to. Which is not an insult by any means, by the way; it’s just super relaxing.
The two make camp with the sheep in a mountain valley, and now I want to go camping. I realize that it’s February, and I live in a place VERY non-conducive to camping, but GODDAMN this movie makes me want to go camping. In the wilderness, surrounded by bird calls and crisp mountain air, LET’S GO.
Tumblr media
We find out that Ennis is engaged to be wed to a woman named Alma, while Jack is yearning to break free of needing to take jobs like this. And all the while, they’re eating beans, scaring away coyotes, and fending of REALLY REALLY FAT American black bears, who you could really easily scare away without too much difficulty. You ever stared at a bear while both of you were in the woods? I HAVE. And we BOTH took off from each other in opposite directions. They’re not the bravest of animals, black bears. Grizzlies, however, you don’t wanna fuck with.
Anyway, after they face off against that bear and lose their newly bought supplies, they go hunting the next day and take down an elk. Which is a LOT of venison, I tell you what! Oh, and I’m not a hunter, just to be clear, but elk are fuggin’ HUGE. Seriously, XL deer they are.
Tumblr media
Anyway, time goes on after that, and they continue to make their way through the mountains. And they get to know each other more, sharing their rodeo experiences and family backgrounds. Ennis also opens up pretty considerably, a fact not missed by Jack. The two become friends.
My girlfriend asks an interesting question: if I had never heard of this movie in any capacity...would I have known the extent of the relationship of Ennis and Jack? And honestly...I’m legitimately not sure at this point. I think I would’ve just assumed that they’d stay close friends, but no further than that. Call that being raised in a society with heterosexual bias towards relationships, or call that me not being a natural shipper. Both are probably accurate, to be honest.
Anyway, it’s getting cold out, and Jack’s sleeping in the tent one night while Ennis is freezing his balls off outside. With Jack’s insistence, he goes inside the tent to sleep next to Jack. And then...
Tumblr media
Oh. Well, OK. Again, though, still not sure that at this point I’d...oh wait...OH...OH.
youtube
OK. Think I’d be able to tell at this point what the movie’s about.
So, yeah, they have sex. It’s spontaneous, it’s wild, it’s heat of the moment passion...and it’s REAL awkward the next day, I tell you what. That next evening, Ennis and Jack both insist that they “ain’t queer,” and that this is “a one-shot thing they got goin’.”
Uh, boys? There’s some important evidence to the contrary that we should consider here. But, OK, it’s a different culture, this is super new to you both, I get it. I’m not one to talk on the coming out or discovery experience (again, straight cis dude over here), but I understand that there’s some inherent denial. But still, they continue their relationship as is, for the time being.
Tumblr media
Which is not as private as they thought, as Joe Aguirre observes them chasing each other naked on the mountain from afar. Whoops. Well, it doesn’t matter as much, as they still have a job to do until summer ends. And that job continues. They encounter another herd of sheep that gets tangled up with theirs, snow falls on the mountain and they have to deal with that, etc.
Then one day, the two need to head out. Jack goes to fetch Ennis, who’s moping on a hillside about something. He does this play lasso thing, which seems cute...
Tumblr media
...until it turns into a full on brawl right there on the hillside. OK. Well. Some heavy denial going on here, I think, especially on Ennis’ part. Which is somewhat understandable, given the culture, and the fact that Ennis is engaged. Oh, by the way, hello infidelity. GodDAMN IT. Escaped you for TWO MOVIES IN A ROW, and you’re back rearing your ugly head.
Anyway, the job is done soon, and Aguirre’s not exactly happy with them, as they’ve apparently lost some sheep and picked up some from the other herd’s flock accidentally. With a light rebuke from Aguirre, the two part ways with not much else said. Jack asks if Ennis will come back the next summer, and Ennis reminds him that he’s getting married that fall. But as Ennis leaves...
Tumblr media
Huh. Interesting reaction, that. Well, in the next scene, Ennis gets married to Alma Beers (Michelle Williams), and they seem to have a very happy relationship. They have two daughters together in a pretty small amount of time. The next summer, Jack tries to get a job with Joe Aguirre once again, but is refused on account of his relationship with Ennis on the mountain...kind of.
See, here’s the thing. Joe rebukes Jack for having their relationship on the mountain, leaving the dogs to babysit the sheep, rather than do the job they were hired for. And, uh...he’s not wrong, honestly. Yeah, OK, there’s definitely some homophobia laced in there, obviously, but they were hired to watch the sheep, and we only really saw them do that once or twice. So, yeah, sorry to say, but Joe’s not entirely unjustified in not rehiring Jack.
Tumblr media
At a Fourth of July festival, Ennis brings his wife and daughters to see the fireworks, when a couple of bikers antagonize the crowd as a whole. This results in Ennis telling them to stop, and a fight takes place, with Ennis IMMEDIATELY taking out the two bikers, with little effort. Anger issues there, Ennis?
Jack returns to the rodeo, with new other options for money. He’s clearly also coming to terms with his own sexuality, as seen when he not so subtly hits on a cowboy at the bar. However, he also meets a young woman, a barrel racer named Lureen Newsome (Anne Hathaway), whom he seems to get along with fairly quickly at a rodeo. They dance together at the bar that night, and, uh...park.
Tumblr media
And that, of course, leads to their eventual marriage and parentage as well. Looks like Lureen’s parents arent the biggest fans of Jack, though. Sure that’s going to lead to a healthy relationship down the road.
Been about 4 years since Brokeback Mountain, and this is punctuated by Jack paying a visit to Ennis’ place, which Ennis is told about by Alma. He seems...very anious, waiting nervously for a day to see him. But he finally arrives, and the two embrace happily. And then...
Tumblr media
Oh, and Alma sees? Sure, sure, oh, and they go to a motel IMMEDIATELY? Oh, OK, OK, infidelity? Yuuuuuuupyupyupyupyupyup, halfway point? Yeah, sure, see you in Part 2. Geez.

most important information about “Trolls 3″ [ please read to the end! ]
Hi to all!
There is already the first informations about "Trolls 3"!
the first important information is it: The release date will take place on July 10, 2024 and the first trailer is expected to appear on December 20, 2020.
second important information concerns the plot of the film ( what will happen, what we will be able to see in the fairy tale ).
and we will be able to see in a fairy tale such things as: The Wedding of Branch and Poppy, Their Children [ Children - pay attention to the plural ] with the names Aloe, Lily and a child created by the fandom - Willow. And the sweetest thing in the world - Branch's meeting with his parents. Everything will take place when the oldest of the children - Willow - is almost grown up - The branch and Poppy will be around 30 years old And the whole story will start with the aforementioned wedding. It is not yet known what the other two children and parents of the main character will look like.
New characters will appear such as:
Neck ( Pop Troll ) - Tom Hanks Grass ( It is not known what origin ) - Cody Carson Scout  ( Rock Troll ) - Brendon Urie Berry (  It is not known what origin ) - JinJoo Lee Dart (  It is not known what origin ) - Iain Alexander Marr Ivan ( A new type of Troll - Shanties Troll ) -  Kevin McNally Cerry (  It is not known what origin ) - Amy Sheppard Starling ( Rock Troll ) - Rebel Wilson Lotus ( Hip-Hop Troll ) - Brittany Snow Captain Mercy ( Shanties Troll ) -  Lindsey Stirling Briar ( It is not known what origin ) - Andy Grammer Liam ( Reggaeton Troll ) -  Ben El Tavori Johny ( It is not known what origin ) -  Keanu Reeves Willow ( Pop troll ) - Hailee Steinfeld Lily ( Pop Troll ) -  Cathy Ang Aloe ( Pop Troll ) -  Levi Miller
No more information about the cast.
Third information:
In the fairy tale there will be such iconic hits as:
Rick Astley | Never gonna give you up - sung in a fairy tale by Branch.
Daniel Powter | Bad Day  - which Branch also sings.
Irish Rovers | Drunken Sailor - sung by Troll from shanties music, in a more child-friendly version
Deorro x Chris Brown |  Five More Hours - song at the beginning of the fairy tale ( in Trollstopia )
Kris Kross | Jump - in the land of Hip-Hop Trolls
Miley Cyrus | Party In The U.S.A. - Poppy will sing it along with the other (new) Trolls
Olly Murs ( ft. Snoop Dogg ) | Moves - Branch sings, trying to impress Poppy and defeat the Troll who tries to seduce her
What will the plot be like?
It all starts with a flashback of the wedding of the main characters. And the opening song in Trollstopia [Five More Hours], where we meet the children Branch and Poppy for the first time. The squad will have nightmares and various flashbacks (from childhood). He will be reminded of the place where he was born and he will decide to find it. He leaves the house at night, but Poppy knew Branch was up to something and was waiting for him in one of the rooms by the exit. They decide to go on an adventure together, leaving the children in the care of Willow (writing on the card: take care of Lily and Aloes) just this. By the way, Branch and Poppy meet the evil pirates, but the captain is Mercy, who knows Branch and offers to help him. It is later revealed that she brought Branch's to the Pop Troll Village. He would be in danger otherwise.
Who is Branch really? We'll find out in “Trolls 3″ - “Trolls Lost World”.
And now the most important information about this fairy tale:
This is all joke and nonsense, and there is currently no specific information regarding "Trolls 3".
Have a nice day! :)

Upcoming Movies in September 2020: Theaters, Streaming, and VOD
https://ift.tt/2CUVT60
Movies are back! Granted they never really left either, with Netflix, Amazon, Disney+, and others keeping us satiated with content these past five months. Still, the streamers are about to be reinforced for those willing to return to movie theaters: Major Hollywood blockbuster releases are coming, and limited rollouts are slowly making their way back into cinemas around the world.
For that reason, we’ve assembled a list of potential moviegoing experiences in September, whether on the big screen (please consider the risks of attending a theatrical screening) or at home via video on demand. It’s time for the popcorn to get popping.
Bill & Ted Face the Music
Now playing in theaters and VOD in the US (September 23 in the UK)
One of the biggest movies yet to eschew its intended theatrical window for a premium video on demand (PVOD) release is this most excellent adventure. It’s been 29 years since we last saw Alex Winter’s far out Ted or Keanu Reeves’ perpetually astonished Bill, yet it’s good to have both back in their legendary stoner roles.
The fact they’re middle-aged and still having adventures through time and space, and against the visage of Death—he’s still cheating!—is pretty sweet. As is Keanu coming back to this role one Speed, three Matrixes, and nearly five John Wick chapters later. But this time they’ve got daughters (played by Samara Weaving and Brigette Lundy-Paine)… but rest assured, the children are as amused as their dads.
Tenet
Now playing in the UK (September 3 in the US)
Already playing in the UK, Tenet will be making its much vaunted North American debut in “select U.S. cities” in September. We’re still not entirely clear what that will look like, but hopefully it will be worth it for this mysterious and visually dazzling Christopher Nolan epic.
Early reviews are in, and the majority promise Nolan’s most exciting use of IMAX spectacle to date, though even without spoilers, this one might be too big for its own good. Our own Rosie Fletcher describes it as Nolan’s long-whispered about James Bond movie meets Doctor Who…
The New Mutants
Now playing in the U.S. (September 4 UK)
Josh Boone’s journey into the X-Men universe has been pushed back so many times it almost feels like a mythical lost movie. So when it finally arrives in UK cinemas on Sept. 4 (it landed in the U.S. at the end of August) it might feel like a bizarre flashback to another era – namely that of 2017 when the main shoot took place.
Maisie Williams, Anya Taylor-Joy, Charlie Heaton, Blu Hunt, and Henry Zaga star as five young mutants held in a sinister facility against their will. It’s been positioned as an action horror which in theory sounds pretty cool, though what the final cut will look like is anyone’s guess.
Mulan
September 4 (Disney+ with premium)
One day after Tenet makes its U.S. debut, Disney, and more specifically Disney+, offers a starkly different vision for the future of cinema with Mulan. Whereas Tenet will attempt to jumpstart moviegoing, Disney has pushed one of their biggest 2020 blockbusters exclusively to streaming in all markets featuring Disney+, including the U.S. and UK. That means if you want to see Niki Caro’s anticipated reimagining of the 1998 animated Disney movie, you are going to have to pay $30 on top of your Disney+ subscription to get a load of this bad boy on a new PVOD model.

Even so, the film’s need to step away from the 1998 version’s iconography—Chinese moviegoers generally dislike musicals—appears to offer an opportunity to make a modern 2020 epic that can stand on its own two feet.
I’m Thinking of Ending Things
September 4 (Netflix)
Charlie Kaufman does horror? Well, uh, maybe?! For his first Netflix original production, the idiosyncratic writer-director behind Synecdoche, New York, and the Being John Malkovich screenplay is adapting Iain Reid’s thriller novel, I’m Thinking of Ending Things. But Kaufman is expected to come at it from his singularly off-center perspective.
With a somber setup about a young woman (played by Wild Rose’s talented Jessie Buckley) going to meet the parents of her boyfriend (Jesse Plemons), the movie is actually about an unhappy lover planning to terminate her relationship. Yet when she meets Mom and Dad (Toni Collette and David Thewlis), things are going to get weirder, if not necessarily better for the relationship…
The Roads Not Taken
September 11 (UK)
Sally Potter’s wistful drama was nominated for the Golden Bear at the Berlin Film Festival earlier in the year before the world went into lockdown. It follows Leo (Javier Bardem), a man with dementia, as he imagines different paths in life he might have taken, while his daughter Mollie tries to help him keep various appointments and struggles with decisions about her own future. A very personal study of mental illness, grief, and regret.
The Devil All the Time
September 16 (Netflix)
Southern fried noir might be the creepiest noir. With its rural and sunny backdrops, and a smiling Christian face, its pleasantries belie an evil heart. And Tom Holland of all people will be driving right to the dark center of it in The Devil All the Time, a new thriller by writer-director Antonio Campos.
Ready to bow on Netflix this month, the all-star cast, which also includes Bill Skarsgård, Riley Keough, Sebastian Stan, and Robert Pattinson, as a fire and brimstone preacher no less, The Devil All the Time reimagines post-WWII Tennessee backwoods as a hotbed of corruption, hypocrisy, and murder. Sounds about right.
Antebellum
September 18 (U.S. Only)
Co-writers and directors Gerard Bush and Christopher Renz appear to have cracked the code in making one of fiction’s favorite fantasies terrifying. You know the type: From Mark Twain’s A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur’s Court to Midnight in Paris, some congenial fellow travels back to a point in history he loves and has an all-around splendid time. Now imagine that same scenario except the protagonist is a Black woman. And she’s sent to the Antebellum South on the eve of the Civil War. Scared yet?
It’s a disturbing premise that aims to put Antebellum in the same wheelhouse as recent horror movies that have tackled American racism head on, including Jordan Peele’s Get Out and Us. The movie stars the ever compelling Janelle Monáe as a 21st century author trapped inside a 19th century nightmare, and it’s one of the most intriguing setups of the year. It also will be available on VOD and in select theaters.
The King’s Man
September 18 (September 16 in the UK)
Kingsman: The Secret Service was one of the nicer surprises of 2015. A better Bond movie than that year’s Bond film, this Matthew Vaughn directed and Jane Goldman co-written spy adventure was both a satire and loving homage to 007 movies of the 1960s and ‘70s, with excessive swagger and style to boot. Unfortunately, Kingsman: The Golden Circle (2017) didn’t live up to its predecessor. It did, however, make enough money to spawn a prequel. Which brings us to The King’s Man.
As Disney/20th Century Studios’ latest release, this movie sees Vaughn return to the director’s chair as he travels back in time to World War I and the origins of the Kingsman secret service. With the same daffy style but now in period garb (it worked for Vaughn in X-Men: First Class), the prequel hopes to recapture the charm of the original. It certainly has a winning cast that includes Ralph Fiennes, Daniel Bruhl, Djimon Hounsou, and Gemma Arterton.
Kajillionaire
September 18 (October 9 in the UK)
One of the happy discoveries out of this year’s Sundance Film Festival, Focus Features’ Kajillionaire is a movie we’ve had our eye on for a while. The picture is writer-director Miranda July’s pleasant vision of criminality and heists being the stuff of family team-building. Take Evan Rachel Wood as Old Dolio. She’s an adult daughter whose depression has forced her to live at home with her small time crook parents. But Mom and Pop (Debra Winger and Richard Jenkins) have a plan; they’ll incorporate their daughter in the next heist and bring her out of her funk. It’s a charming premise that won over almost every critic who saw it back in January.
The Nest
September 18 (U.S. Only)
Another apparent highlight out of Sundance this year, Sean Durkin’s The Nest presents itself as a foreboding drama. As the follow-up feature from the director of Martha Marcy May Marlene, the film intends to be an unsettling account of a wealthy marriage descending into Gaslight levels of manipulation. With Jude Law as the rich patriarch and Carrie Coon as his quietly suffering wife, a sudden move to the country reveals dark dimensions to their relationship and the brittleness of domesticity. If the buzz is to be believed, the wound up WASPy tension in this could strangle an elephant.
Enola Holmes
September 23 (Netflix)
Did you know Sherlock Holmes had a little sister? You’re about to thanks to some strong synergetic mojo going on at Netflix with Enola Holmes, a new mystery/adventure that stars The Witcher’s Henry Cavill as Sherlock, The Crown’s Helena Bonham Carter as Mrs. Holmes, and Stranger Things’ Millie Bobby Brown as the eponymous Enola. That’s right, Eleven’s going to use her own English accent and play Sherlock’s kid sister.
Often kept in her famous brother’s shadow, it is up to Enola to do him one better when she sets off to find their mysteriously vanished mother. In the process, she proves she’s a super-sleuth in her own right and brings to light a deadly conspiracy. The game’s afoot!
Misbehaviour
September 25 (Open in the UK)
A crowd-pleaser that debuted earlier in the year in the UK, Misbehaviour has all the markers of a charming dramedy with real world ramifications. In fact, it’s set during the events of the Miss World competition in 1970, a televised beauty pageant in London that was then the most-watched event on the planet. In this context, the Women’s Liberation Movement reached international acclaim by disrupting the proceedings, and a Woman of Color from Grenada became a contender for the Miss World title.
Director Philippa Lowthorpe (The Crown) reportedly explores these events to winning results with an ensemble of players that Keira Knightley and Jessie Buckley as lead activists, Gugu Mbatha-Raw as Jennifer Hosten (aka Miss Grenada), and Greg Kinnear at his greasiest as an aging Bob Hope.
Greenland
September 25 (U.S. Only)
Imagine this: A comet that is supposed to gently pass Earth by was misjudged by the science community, and instead a cataclysmic extinction level event occurs with comet fragments destroying parts of the world one action scene at a time! Yeah, in 2020 that sounds about right. It’s also the plot of Greenland, a new high-concept survivalist action movie starring Gerard Butler as a family man who, realizing Florida is gone and his home state is next, tries to save his wife (Morena Baccarin) and child by getting his family to the last place that may be spared: military bunkers in Greenland!
And you thought U.S. leadership was being ridiculous when it tried to buy the country a few years ago…

The Wylde Interview: Jenn Murray
Tumblr media
NORTHERN IRISH ACTRESS JENN MURRAY IS AMASSING AN EXTRAORDINARILY VARIED BACK CATALOGUE OF WORK; FROM HER DEEPLY DISTURBING BREAKOUT MOVIE DOROTHY MILLS (2008) – PLAYING THE EPONYMOUS, DISTURBED TEEN – TO LIGHT COMEDY, IN THE DELIGHTFUL JANE AUSTEN FLICK LOVE AND FRIENDSHIP (2016), AND ON TO HER TURN AS THE SHY CHASTITY BAREBONE IN FANTASTIC BEASTS AND WHERE TO FIND THEM (2016). ADDING TO THESE ROLES, SHE’S IN THIS MONTH’S MEGA-RELEASE MALEFICENT: MISTRESS OF EVIL, PLAYING ALONGSIDE MICHELLE PFEIFFER, AND WE MANAGED TO STOP THIS MERCURIAL PERFORMER FOR 5 MINUTES, FOR A WYLDE CHAT-AND-SHOOT…
Interview by David Newton / Photography by Etienne Gilfillan
Wylde:  Could you briefly outline your character in the upcoming Maleficent: Mistress of Evil movie? What do you most like about her?
Jenn Murray: My character is called Gerda and she is Queen Ingrith’s right hand woman and devoted servant. Gerda is skilful in weaponry and other perhaps more sinister tools. What I most liked about Gerda was her focus, she was incapable of being distracted. She had no interest in being seen in a spotlight. She worked hard without seeking reward.
You exploded onto the acting world with your debut performance in the deeply disturbing movie Dorothy Mills… was that a difficult role to take on so early in your career?
I find the difficulties in a career as an actor are not the roles specifically but how you maintain your confidence and creative satisfaction when you are unemployed. Dorothy Mills was a gift of a role. I had an amazing scene partner in Carice van Houten and everyday was pure joy. Even though it was my first job, I was aware of how lucky I was to land such a complex role and I savoured it. They bleached the crown of my hair every Friday night. Note to twenty-one year old self: say no to a weekly bleach! It was a strange movie, unsettling and very atmospheric. I am so proud to be a part of it.
I hear from our photographer Etienne that you’re not a fan of musicals? Why not? I love them!
Yes, I appreciate the unbelievable talent and discipline that goes into them but it’s just not really my bag, so to speak. I do think Catherine Zeta-Jones in Chicago is utterly magical; the performance is primal and that is thrilling to watch.
If you could move eventually into directing, what sort of movie would be your debut film?
My focus would lean towards writing and producing, rather than directing. To be a director is such a massive undertaking, I don’t think I would want that responsibility. The films I want to make are the films I want to see. Manchester By The Sea, Last Of The Mohicans, When Harry Met Sally, Thelma and Louise are all films I adore. The land plays a role, whether it is autumn in New York City, or the dusty roads around the Grand Canyon. I like intimate, urgent conversations amidst nature. I like characters who show fortitude and resilience against circumstance or themselves. My aspiration would be to tell stories that make an individual watching feel expansive and hopeful.
And who would you cast in it? (In other words, who are your favourite actors right now?)
I love actors! There are so many I admire, it would be hard to choose. I like an actor who hand themselves over to the spectator without vanity. In a dream scenario I would like to work with John Hawkes, Kyle Chandler, Marion Cotillard, Kevin Bacon, Elizabeth Debicki and Christopher Walken.
What do you most fear?
I fear rodents. When I lived in London, one climbed up through the sink drain and scuttled along my jars of seasonings, smoked paprika, red pepper flakes, garlic salt. I silently and swiftly packed a bag and went immediately to a friend’s house. I did not resume normal breathing for several hours. It was the size of a kitten.
Stage or screen: you are extremely adept at both, but do you lean towards either one in particular?
I love both. I love acting, you see, so whichever way it unfolds, I am game! I feel particularly exhilarated by a live audience; they give you energy and you give yourself. It feels sacred. Lately, it can feel if something is not documented by a photograph or a video, it has less meaning. But I think the moments that are present and private in an art form are essential for the human spirit. I saw Adam Driver in Burn This recently and I already know I will never forget that performance. In film, I love how the camera can see what you are thinking. I like the collaboration and the early mornings. I like the pocket of silence when the camera rolls and the First AD yells “Action!” and you go searching with your scene partner. I have been so fortunate to work with real masters of their craft. Colleen Atwood, the costume designer on Fantastic Beasts and Ellen Mirojnick, the costume designer on Maleficent, are two women that I am so inspired by. They take you in, they think of the story, they pick up a material, a colour and they create an epic painting. When I have a costume designed by one of them, I feel I have an extra layer of confidence around me to take a leap with the character.
I believe you have a fondness for 1980’s movies; which ones, and why?
I do! The fondness is for so many reasons. Firstly when I was a child, my older brother and sister were watching these movies and so, if I was lucky, I could sit with them and watch for fifteen minutes before I had to go to bed. I love Back To The Future and The Breakfast Club, Alien and Ghostbusters, Working Girl! I liked the structure back then, when a camera would sit on two actors for pages of dialogue with the confidence that the audience would not lose interest. Sigourney Weaver played characters who were smart and fun and aspirational, yet attainable. Also in the Eighties there was less interest in celebrity culture and so you were an actor because you wanted to act, not because you wanted to be famous. There was less focus on pleasing a mass audience and more dedication to telling a story that was authentic.
You look amazing in the clothes we got you to wear for our shoot; there’s a moody, character-actress quality to the pictures. What do you gravitate towards, fashion-wise?
I like Ralph Lauren and Carolina Herrera, both fans of the classic white shirt! I like clothes that make you look comfortable and chic. I gravitate towards someone who has a signature look that is timeless. I think Keanu Reeves always looks great in his black suits and desert boots and Sofia Coppola in her tailored suits and silk dresses. I adore silk scarves. The production team of Maleficent had a black silk scarf made for me, and I was delighted. I have a weakness for a great leather jacket. I found this 1950’s brown leather baseball jacket at a market in Los Angeles. I definitely did not need it but I couldn’t resist.
Finally (our favourite question!): what strange dreams have you had recently?
I dreamt Jack Nicholson was cooking me dinner in an attic the other night. He had a mini fridge and he pulled out mince meat, fresh figs and a can of coke!

Everyone wants to share their Repo! headcanons lately WELL here’s some of my Pavi headcanons since he’s my husband sooooo
Pavi has always sought affection and closeness as a way to cope with, uh, fucking everything wrong with him, just the feeling of being cared about is something he craves so much, and although he’s primarily sought sex as a way to pacify that craving there was a time in his late teens/early 20s where he actually attempted to get married..... maybe even genuinely tried to “marry for love” and, well, it ended disastrously every time as you can imagine, and the spouses ALWAYS managed to “disappear” under “mysterious circumstances” after some time. Eventually Pavi came to the conclusion that marriage is limiting and restrictive and actually EVERYONE should just ALWAYS be available to ANYONE!!!!!!!, but don’t ask him about those past marriages because he does not want to talk about it.
I’ve said this one before but Pavi looooves industrial music.... he’s visibly covered in industrial tattoos so it’s canon! Similar to how people now sometimes can be pretentious about their love of classical music because it’s like, old and vintage and in some ways considered to have more depth than modern music or whatever, Pavi is all pretentious about loving industrial music and sees it as a cool retro vintage thing and will tell you about how complex it is, but like with most things in his life his love for it is pretty superficial. He loves Revolting Cocks (he has a RevCo tattoo!) cuz they have fun stupid songs about sex and shit. He loves Skinny Puppy (which he also has tattoos of) because being the absolute narcissist he is, he really wants to fuck Nivek Ogre.
Pavi’s insecurities really show in the way he SMELLS cuz he wears an absolutely obscene amount of overpowering cologne at all times. He’s really, really, really worried about smelling bad, especially now that he’s taken to wearing dead skin stapled to his face, but ironically the overbearing intensity of his cologne is so much that it just has a reverse effect and makes him even harder to be around.
(That being said, I always thought that if Pavi was an animal he’d be a skunk, because skunk fur is seen as extremely luxurious and glamorous, but of course the downside of skunks is their fucking smell, which I think is a funny way of interpreting Pavi being this high class fancy spoiled rich boy but also being a fucking freak.)
On the topic of animals, Pavi is not a dog person, or a cat person, or an animal person at all. He doesn’t have the capability to care about a little living creature entirely dependent on him that does nothing for him in return. He’s simply too lazy and too finicky about things. Animals smell and destroy things and leave fur and drool and it’s horrendous to him... As a kid he wanted a puppy though, and there’s a part of him that’s still very much a child and still kind of wants a puppy, but he can suppress that pretty easily be reminding himself HOW much fur it would leave and how it would probably jump up on him and ruin his nice clothes and jump up on his furniture and his bed and ruin all his nice things and chew up his pillows and scarves and be noisy and need so much damn attention... At best he might have some little designer pet, like a really overbred yappy little teacup thing that would be 99.999% taken care of by some poor Genterns that Pavi would pay attention to for 2 seconds a year for a cutesy photoshoot and then forget about again.
Pavi thinks Repo Men are SEXY!!!!!!! and actually may have even considered BEING a Repo Man at some point cuz it seems so sexy and fun, but the thing is you have to have, like, a medical background, to be able to actually... get the organs returned safely, otherwise there’s no point, and Pavi absolutely did not give enough of a shit to get through medical school and it was so dreadfully boring that he decided that instead of being a Repo Man he’d much rather just fuck them anyway.
Pavi actually really looks up to Luigi. When I saw Ogre in ‘17 he said that Pavi loves Luigi even though Luigi is awful to him. I think Pavi thinks Luigi is cool and smart and tough and like, basically everything he isn’t. I always thought that part of why Pavi kind of plays up how much he wants to inherit GeneCo in order to try to like, compete with Luigi because he looks up to him so much and it’s kind of cute actually, like he’s trying to emulate his big brother, but because they’re stupid evil idiots it comes off... less cute. With Amber he actually also envies her a lot (Ogre has also talked about that!) and wants to be her in a lot of ways. I think Amber knows this and is really really good at manipulating Pavi because she’s absolutely light-years smarter than him.
In general, realistically Pavi really has no reason to want GeneCo, it’s really much more work than he’d care to ever have on his shoulders. When Luigi talks about wanting to run Geneco Pavi just retorts with quips about how loved he is. I think Pavi is more interested in feeling loved than actually running the company. I don’t think Pavi gives a shit about being in charge of anything that would require even minimal effort. He just kind of wants to feel like he’s cared about, by everyone around him but specifically his dad, who is definitely the source of a good 99% of his issues.
Also I have this really long headcanon about Pavi and Nathan you can look at here. It’s angsty! >w<
Also not a headcanon but I have Pavi’s old MySpace article saved via archive on this blog if you wanna see some fun bullshit information like his kinks, his being bisexual, and his “heroes” consisting of Freddie Mercury, Keanus Reeves, and Vanity Smurf. ;D

John Wick: Chapter 3: Parabellum
Tumblr media
John Wick: Chapter 3: Parabellum is the third film in the John Wick franchise, starring Keanu Reeves at the titular character. Following directly after the events of Chapter 2, John Wick has been excommunicated by the High Table, meaning all services and care provided by anyone under the Table is suspended for him, including the Continental Hotel. A bounty of $14 million has been placed on him, and he must find a way to escape New York, if he wants to survive.
This was by far my favorite of the films we have so far. It’s the most action packed, it has the best cinematography, direction, choreography and pacing; it’s a non stop thrill ride, as John runs into person after person very determined to kill him. $14 million is a lot of money, so it’s no surprise that literary every assassin in New York is after him, and he himself is getting sloppy and tired, not to mention injured.
The action in this film is to notch; unlike Chapter 2, where I found a lot of the actions scenes boring, and like they dragged on for too long, here each set piece has some kind of a creative twist that made it interesting, and it helped immensely that the fighting was even more brutal than ever before. If you thought John killing someone with a pencil was horrible, wait until you see what he does with a book. It’s unflinching in the violence, and that extra layer of grittiness over the stylization really makes it all come together.
There are several chase scenes that were likewise amazing; there’s a particularly inspired section that involves horses, and later a motorcycle chase that rivals the one in Rogue Nation. I also absolutely loved the bit in Casablanca where the star of the show was actually Halle Berry, and she pretty much singlehandedly halves the population of the city, in a scene that was shot very much like a video game; I felt like I was playing Uncharted 4, while watching it.
Speaking of Halle Berry, the one big issue I had with the second film was that the characters were wasted and not very interesting. Thankfully, that is not the case here; this sequel has some of the best characters in the series and I loved everyone.
Berry’s Sofia was great; I loved the little backstory we get with her, how she knows John and why she owes him, and all the small things she does to make his life that extra bit more difficult. I didn’t really like why she snaps and starts shooting people; I understand they wanted a parallel between her and John, but (and I don’t want any more dogs to die, don’t get me wrong), at least Iosef actually killed John’s dog.
Jerome Flynn has a pretty good extended cameo, and I thought it was rather funny that the Master of Coin was actually a Master of Coin here.
Anjelica Huston was excellent and terrifying as the Director; that scene with her was probably the most unsettling, and it legitimately made me kind of ill as we were weaving through the theater, seeing what the Belorussian mafia does, and what must’ve been John’s life before he became the Baba Yaga. I found her to be an appropriately horrible person (I like that about this series, the female characters are as reprehensible as the men), though I found it kind of funny and odd that John was retconned to be Belorussian not, Russian in this sequel (he still doesn’t look Slavic, and can’t speak Russian or Belorussian, sorry).
Mark Dacascos as Zero was the absolute best character. I had to look on IMDB to find his name, which is a crying shame, because he made this film for me. He walks a fine line between being cartoonishly evil, and legitimately cool, and I loved the little bits of character we got with him, like wanting to impress and prove to John that he’s his equal, how unnecessarily dramatic he was, sitting next to John on the couch. Even his final scene was funny, and though out of the fights, I preferred the fight between Reeves, Yayan Ruhian and Cecep Arif Rahaman, his was still impressive.
Asia Kate Dillon was likewise cool in their role; they brought the right amount of awe and unlikability to the part of the Adjudicator and I would love a film that’s just them and Zero going around terrorizing people who disrespect the High Table.
However, in spite of my glee, there were things that I was not such a fan of for this film. First, I’m not sure I appreciate the idea that the High Table has someone who sits above them. What’s the point of a High Table if there’s someone who rules even over them? And while I like Said Taghmaoui, that one person being a random Arab person in the middle of nowhere Morocco, was a little… iffy. The Arabs control all the crime in all the world I see; or maybe just that specific person does.
I’m also still confused as hell as how this world works. There are so many assassins in this film, huge armies of people who work for this various mafias that it’s getting ridiculous. Everyone is under the Table, who tf is above it? Who are these people killing, just each other? Not to mention that, by this third film, we have slaughtered all of the Russian, Italian and Moroccan mafia, most of Zero’s, the Continental’s, the Belorussian, and Bowery’s men, all because the High Table won’t just let John retire. If you let him retire, you won’t lose thousands of people anymore you idiots!
Then there’s the ending. I don’t even want to talk about the sequel bait; I knew from the moment the film started that there probably won’t be time to conclude the story in just this part. But first having John betrayed by Winston for no good reason, and then Bowery surviving beings sliced open 7 times by a katana, and then John being shot and falling of a BUILDING, hitting several metal and concrete balconies on his way down, and crushing onto an asphalt street and STILL SURVIVING… nothing will kill this man. He’s invincible. It strained my belief so much that I’m not sure how they can possibly top that, and at this point I’m just going to assume that John is Wolverine, and he just can’t die.
Overall, this was a massive improvement over the second film. In fact it makes the second film feel unnecessary, and other than the plot contrivance that brought us here in the first place, I almost suggest you skip Chapter 2. It’s brutal, it’s impressive and it’s fun; I definitely recommend it.
