Possible Star Wars Parallels in Stranger Things Season 5
I’ve been trying to figure out if Vecna parallels Darth Vader or Palpatine more. I can see the argument for both, but we almost don’t have enough information about him right now to definitively say… I’m more inclined to say he parallels Palpatine more because Palpatine was always evil, like Henry/Vecna.
So…
If Vecna is Darth Vader, then Will has to be Luke, who he’ll try to use/recruit, but he’ll resist and use his powers to stop Vecna without turning evil.
Vecna tells El there's a time he hoped she would join him, but now he no longer sees this as a possibility, so if the writing in s5 is consistent with what we saw in s4, then we can rule El out as a possible recruit, and assume she'll stay on the "light side" and fight Vecna that way, making her Luke/Leia.
There's a chance Will or El could be related to Henry Creel, which would make the Darth Vader/Luke possible parallel even stronger.
But if Vecna is Palpatine, then Will is Darth Vader, which makes him the “chosen one”, who will turn evil for a period of time but will eventually come back to the “light side”, and defeat Palpatine, or in Will’s case, Vecna.
There's already loose parallels of Will & Anakin Skywalker being "the chosen one". Adding to that, Anakin Skywalker has a dark side of himself, which causes him to turn into Darth Vader after being seduced by the dark side of the force. Will has a dark side of himself too; Will the Wise (previous posts about this here and here), whose name is suspiciously like the infamous Sith Lord “Darth Plageuis the Wise”... Will the Wise is a human wizard, and in D&D, Vecna starts out as a human wizard, but he grows to want more knowledge, power & to live forever, so he turns evil to get it. Exactly like Darth Vader does.
I think Will’s villain era is coming.

idk if anyone had said this theory but I have thought of something thatmight or might not makse sense: so, there's a bundle of people who believes that Will had a nosebleed at the end of season 4 when him and mike were standing next to each other in the field right? what if, his nose was bleeding because of Vecna's curse? I mean, Vecna didn't really get Max since El used her powers to bring her back right? (altho Max's mind is completely empty) What if signs or symptoms of Vecna's curse are finally occuring in Will's body and it started with a nosebleed? could that be possible? idk anymore tbh :')))

I vaguely lost the plot. This was supposed to be Kaz Eddie Munson in Steve's yellow sweater but I am perfectly aware it looks absolutely nothing like him at all :)

Why I think Eddie's going to die and why it hurts
(no teasers or bts spoilers)
Tumblr media
I just can't imagine stranger things killing off Steve or Nancy, like i feel it would drastically change the tone of the series and shift all relationships within the group. I can't picture anyone making jokes when shit goes down in s5 bc the party's older brother / sister is dead and they need to take this seriously.
I also don't think they would kill off Robin, absolutely nothing seems to point she's in danger and killing their one lesbian character would be a terrible and horrible idea.
Finally, Eddie is in trouble. He literally has a coward to hero arc and ending it dying to save Dustin or Steve or whoever would be neat wouldn't it? It would also save the trouble of trying to explain and prove in a reasonable manner an interdimensional wizard mind reading dude with superpowers was the murderer all along, and not the already hated guy the town has literally been hunting down.
Eddie dying would make sense, and it would absolutely break my heart. We know Eddie has been friends with Dustin & Mike since they arrived in highschool, we know they have weekly D&D sessions, matching tshirts, and eat lunch together. We know Dustin thinks he's so cool, and if Mike's haircut is anything to go by we can assume he feels the same way.
The point is, it's been established Eddie is close with Dustin & Mike, and beyond that the entire Hawkins group is dedicated to saving him, so him dying should hit the party hard. Eddie dying should shift the tone of the series, but because the viewers didn't see how close he was with Dustin & mostly Mike (and even Lucas one could argue), and because he hasn't been there long, it doesn't feel like it would matter as much as someone else dying - even if we can safely assume they've been spending more time with Eddie than Steve or Nancy since high school started -.
I'm scared Eddie is going to die because I don't want the closeness that's been established to be collectively forgotten and the party to move on from their friend's death like it was a stranger and everything to go back to normal like the only traumatic thing is that they've seen it happen, and not the loss itself. I couldn't bare to watch season 5 if the characters simply do not care anymore and he's mentioned once the entire season, because it would be convenient for the tone of the season 5.
I really hope Eddie doesn't die, but I hope even harder than if he dies it matters beyond saving someone's life.

Stranger Things S4 Theory While I'm Coping (spoiler warning obv)
So in rewatching Stranger Things, I realized something with Dustin that's really subtle in his character after Eddie's death. (maybe it's the english student in me but shh)
Throughout the show, there are subtle ways of showing when certain characters are getting an arc in their development. Some include Nancy showing she isn't just the good kid at school when she picks up a gun and talks about the Wheeler family dynamic to Jonathan in season one and Will realizing he can't go back to being a kid and "needs to grow up" when he destroys Castle Byers.
Dustin sort of gets his own subtle arc involving his hat in season four, because as fans of the show know, he always has his hat or just covering the top of his head in some way. While yes, his hat is off during the Snow Ball and when wearing the Ghostbusters costume, he always has it on through the show until Eddie's death happens. He doesn't have it on when he sees the Cali gang back or when he talks to Eddie's uncle, Wayne, and I think it symbolizes on Dustin's realization that they aren't invincible.
We've all had that moment in our lives when we were kids or teens where you realize you aren't invincible, your actions have consequences and you could be seriously hurt. Will obviously had this realization at the first season but Dustin, Lucas and Mike haven't, not at such a grand scale at least. Even in the other seasons, Dustin is playful and comedic when interacting with the gang, a good example being when he sang to Suzie in a life and death situation. The moment Eddie dies in his arms though is when it hits hard and while sure, Dustin was worried when Will was gone and said to have died, it's different when someone you care about and idolized so much dies right in front of you.
Compared to the others aside from Lucas and El, Dustin is really hurting and I hope it's explored in the next season on his care for his friends and anxiety of losing them because in the end, they're just kids. Compared to Max, El and Will, Eddie isn't coming back (I hope he does though) and it would be interesting thing to see such a lovable and usually carefree character be incredibly cautious since now so much more is on the line. That's just me rambling though because, once again, I'm coping.

My prediction of which 5 characters will die in Stanger Things Volume 2
Russian guard dude (aka: enzo) -> idk man i feel like someone currently in russia is dying, and it can't be Joyce or Hopper (Murray is on this ice)
Argyle -> no way the duffers are actually gonna give a s/o before will does
The therapist -> yeah idk how to explain that
Henry (aka: 001, vecna, and the friendly orderly) -> el's gonna beat the bad guy (again)
Nvm I don't want to think about this anymore

i feel like if eddie comes back as kas in s5, that would almost be too supernatural
and i know this show is all about supernatural shit but idek how to explain it
like it would make sense for him to come back as kas like i get it and it makes sense
but like idk something about it also just seems too easy?? and too supernatural

(Thankyou @spookyghostlover for the gorgina pic.)
Hello my lovelies, I just want to talk about one of the inspirations for Stanger Things (honestly I wouldn’t recommend watching it unless you are politically informed and can approach material that contains contradictions from it’s time (eg. Power imbalances with children, women, queer folk, BIPOC, neurodivergent/differently abled etc.), even still it was painful at times so I won’t mention which show just kind of share my thoughts and what it made me think about) .
I’m currently thinking about the PAINTING and how Eleven kind of isn’t in the painting and how this might cause a realtional rift. I can see Eleven kind of feeling not part of the group and goes to see Max or continues to miss her. Or maybe the recent leak with Eleven and Mike is Mike kind of apologising for not putting in more effort to make her feel apart of the team and kind of taking her away from group activities or maybe even Eleven apologising for this kind of action too?
I can also see Mike being the one to probably get through to Henry, who is someone who hates the world because it’s wrong but Mike will be able to synthesise Henry’s feelings (I think this will happen after my previous theory about time travelling) and find a solution or at least make something matter more than destroying it all/throwing the baby out with the bathwater. Maybe even to get him on the party… (if this confuses you because you think he is entirely evil please see some of my previous posts but essentially Henry (Vecna preburns) (following explanation will be SPOILERS FROM THE PLAY so skip to next paragraph if you don't want to hear this) as a child after moving to Hawkins noticed that something was off and was also sent to the upside down (similar to Will) and when he returned was possessed (similar to Will) although he was never purged of the Mind Flayer unlike Will… Mike was also the one to get through to Will… and Mike is the heart… and popular feminist theory highlights the need for heart, the need for feeling in overthrowing oppressive systems of non-consent. So SLAY.
Dustin will probably tame a dragon and then help the team <3 because Dustin
El and Dustin relations/interactions, I don’t even know this just as an idea would be so wholesome to meeeee
Steve and Mike and Will relations/interactions also I don’t even know where to start this would be so wholesome but like paralleling Robin coming out to Steve maybe or just Steve being already cool with queerness, just yay.
Lastly, I don’t think it’s going to end with them all being in separate romantic relationships but a strong interconnected bond of friendship or at the least their romantic relationships won’t alienate each other from being friends as a group.

Theory Time
I am saying this now because I haven't heard anyone else put two theories together and it just makes so much sense to me.
We all know the theory of Mike keeping a letter to Will in his jacket pocket. There isn't really evidence so much as there is foreshadowing of the fact. I will link a more in depth analysis here (by @bylercloud )
"Letter to Willy" - The song that plays in Dear Billy.
Joyce finding Hopper's letter in a shirt pocket while packing for California. It's a meaningful heart to heart type letter. Which, after reading, El folds and place in her own shirt pocket.
Jonathon keeping his community college letter in his shirt pocket as well. Much of his storyline in S4 revolves around him hiding the existence of this letter from everyone but Argyle. Even Joyce.
The cryptic post on from the Stranger Writers twitter.
The letters aren't kept in the pockets of their jeans or anywhere else. They are kept close to their hearts. Possibly signifying their emotion significance as well as the fact that the characters what to keep them guarded, protected, where no one else can see or get to them them.
We also know the theory that the Duffer Brother's did not actually forget Will's birthday. See these two posts by @chirpsythismorning for more in depth evidence. But the gist is:
The Duffer's claiming they haven't rewatched season 2 in ages, which is clearly not true going by the parallels. They are sticklers for their timelines and dates, mentioning mutiple times the different ways they made specific choices in order to make things work and that they have calculated Vecna's age and so on. NOt to mention that Will has always been a central part of the ST story, do we really think the creators would forget one of their main character's birthdays? As well as them saying they would edit the S2 episode that mentions his birthday, but also saying they wouldn't and haven't edited any past seasons.
Birthdays being referenced mutliple times throughout S4, most notably Suzie knowing Dustin's birthday down to the hour.
The simple fact that they even decided to add a guy with a camera to the scene, purposefully showing a segment through the lense in order to give us this time stamp in the first place. March 22nd being specifically chosen as the date.
So my thoughts? What if it's not just a letter in Mike's pocket, what if it's a birthday card? What if no one actually forgot Will's birthday?
Mike writes a letter/birthday card for Will. Possibly even making him something -- my thoughts being he wrote a DnD campaign, something he's been known to do as dungeon master of their friend group as well as the the pic from the Stanger Writers twitter reading "I think you'll--" [like it] "sorry I couldn't get it done--" [in time for your birthday] "but you mean--" [so much to me] and it's been [so long since we played]. "Hope this is--" [good enough to] "last until--" [ 1) next time? or: 2) I finish the campaign.] "Love--" [Mike].
I like to point out the fact that in one of the ST comics Mike actually tries writing a DnD campaign for just Will, wanting to make it so that Will, and only Will, would be able to save them and eventually win the campaign. Link
I could even go as far as to say that it's a possibility that Joyce ad Johnathon didn't forget Will's birthday. Make come's to see them on that day specifically. Perhaps the Byer's were the one's to make this happen, maybe paid for the ticket, as a birthday present for Will?
There isn't much evidence either way, but I do think it's curious how Jonathon stops Will at Rink-o-Mania and tells him to have fun. He doesn't say this to anyone else. It gives off the vibes that maybe this was supposed supposed to be more of Will's day, but that Mike was ruining it with his stand-offish behavior.
Then, with everything that ends up happening -- El assaulting Angela, the cops being called, Mike being in a mood, Jonathon getting high, the Russian doll and Murray showing up -- it's very possible that his birthday was swept under the rug, put on the back burner, or forgotten about because there was so much drama going on.
Lastly, they return to Hawkins around the end of March and Mike's birthday is April 7th. It would be a perfect opportunity to bring up the secret letter/card Mike has for Will when Will inevitably gives/says/does something for Mike's birthday.
This all being said, when it comes to Will's birthday and how it was handled vs how it will play out in the next season, I believe the Duffers know what they are doing, and they might be the only ones who know the significance of it. They may have kept the actors in the dark on this.
All of this, of course is just speculation! Some parts could be right, others completely wrong, but I think it's a compelling theory, or at least a sensible way to marry these two theories together. If you made it this far, thank you for staying with me and I would love to hear your thoughts/opinions on this!

Twenty questions for fic writers
Tagged again by the wonderful @forerussake, thank you!! <3
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
10
2. What's your total AO3 word count?
446,816
3. What fandoms do you write for?
At the moment only DMBJ and those are the only fics I've posted on AO3. I've written for other fandoms before and posted those on other sites, mostly HP and original works. I've also written things for Sailor Moon, Stargate, Lord of the Rings, Grimm and Stanger Things but never finished those, so they were never posted (and most are veeeeeeery long ago).
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Like a lonely house (284)
The Crystal Menace (256)
Promise in the Dark (200)
We go deeper than the ink beneath the skin of our tattoos (76)
Stolen Moments (54)
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
Yeah, always. Since I don't have that many fics on AO3 yet, it's not a lot to do and I love the interaction with readers, love hearing about their theories, what they liked and all that. And I want them to know how much I appreciate that they took time to write a nice comment and how happy that makes me! And as a reader myself I love it when authors answer my comments, too.
6. What is a fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Ooof. Everything I write is angsty and hurt/comfort. But I guess the angsties one would be The Crystal Menace, because it's the first part of a trilogy and the ending is quite sad and gives a bleak outlook for the future. But it's not the real ending of the whole story, so I'm not sure it should count?
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Hmmm, actually everything I write has a happy ending (you know, and if it's not happy then it's not the end). But I think the truly happiest ending would be Like a lonely house because at the end Zhang Rishan is truly happy for the first time in a very long time.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Hmmm, very long ago one of my original ffs got a very unkind comment, but I'm not sure that should be considered hate, the person was still civil and I don' even remember much. So, I'd say no :)
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
I do. It's not always the easiest thing to write, but when the muse strikes, I greatly enjoy it. I'm not sure what different kinds of smut there are? I do write PWPs that are just about the sex, but I also do smutty last chapters to long-fic.
10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?
Uhhhh... I think I might have started one or two, once upon a time when I was a teenager. But I never got very far with those, my focus tended to shift a lot more back then. I don't know if I would write crossovers today, at least not classic crossovers. But fusions are very interesting, like putting characters from one fandom into the world of another fandom, replacing the original characters. Or at least a world very inspired by another fandom.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
I don't think so, no. It's already such a small fandom and since I only do one pairing the audience is even smaller. As for the older stuff, well, I might love the stories but they were objectively speaking very badly written so I don't think anyone would want to steal those.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
No.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Oh yes, almost all of my old stuff was co-written in role-play-style with someone else. But not big role plays, just me and my co-author creating characters and planning stories. Those were my teenage years and it took me very long to learn to write and do all the work all by myself.
14. What's your all-time favorite ship?
Oh dear. I've had so many ships over the years and one I've written quite a lot is one I do not want to think about (because of the Terfling). I've been obsessed with FuBa for two years now and everything I've written since then is about them, so I'll say FuBa.
15. What's a wip you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?
Definitely my Stranger Things ffs, those were the first things I started writing all by myself and I am quite proud of how far I did come with writing out a lot and not only the good scenes, but then my dad died and I couldn't really write for a year or something (until I hyperfixated on FuBa to kinda distract myself, I guess?) and the series kept on going and I didn't really like where it went, (I did mostly stop reading ffs after season 3 dropped), so I'm not sure I'll ever finish those.
16. What are your writing strengths?
I honestly have no idea. I just write what i want to read and kinda soldier on to get where I want to get.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
When I look at writing advice I always feel like I do everything wrong, but most of that advice sucks anyway XD. My weakness is definitely that I tend to get too many ideas and start too many new stories, keeping my focus on one and going through with it not easy. It gets easier when I post an ongoing fic, at least if I know people like it and are waiting for the next chapter :)
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
Hmmm, not sure about this. I wouldn't do it, I think, not even for languages I do speak. I can imagine different scenarios, like when a character ends up somewhere, where a language is spoken that the character doesn't understand. Mostly, if we are with that character, (first person, third person), we as the readers shouldn't understand the language as well and I would just say "says something in an unknown language". Because if characters speak a different language and it's relevant to the plot, then there has to be a translation and I personally would mark the dialogue as "spoken in X language", but still keep it english.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Oh dear. The first fandom I read was actually Stargate SG-1 and I think I wrote something for that? But it's so long ago, I'm not really sure. It might also be Sailor Moon, because I remember a weird crossovery story idea with Stargate. Who knows. That was more than 20 years ago ^^°°°
And also I remember a time when I had just learned to write and I wrote silly little one-page fairy tales that always ended with a happily ever after, so maybe fairytales are my real actual first fandom? XD
20. Favorite fic you've written?
Uhhh, this is a hard one because I love all my stories (even the badly written old ones). But it's Like a lonely house, I think. The first story I wrote (and finished!!) all by myself and my first story on AO3. And I still love most of it and re-read it frequently :)
Ooooookay, who to tag? Maybe @spinecorset, @daydreamorama, @elletromil, @lacommunarde, @s1utspeare, @kholran, if any of you want?
