When you first came to the batfamily you were 17 and a lil shy…well at first.

After about a year ,you started getting pretty bold. One time you accidentally cussed at Bruce after an argument,under your breath thinking….well forgetting that he’s hearing.

“Ha. Ha. Ha.”You laughed and smiled sarcastically moving from side to side a little. He already suspected you were about to get disrespectful but didn’t say anything.

“Punk ass bitch.” You signed a lil to yourself,starting to turn and walk away,rolling your eyes.

“WHAT WAS THAT Y/N?!” While you wanted to turn around bc you knew it probably be worst if you didn’t look him in the eyes you stood there froze ,scared.

While your were deaf,Bruce was taking you to treatments and helping you hear. While the yell was faint ,you still heard it. You couldn’t hear regular talking but when it came to LOUD ASS YELLING ,like what Bruce just did and with extremely loud music,you could kind of hear it.

And right now you both were in front of EVERYONE! Even Kate and duke! They were shocked! Jason was trying not to laugh,Damian just “tt’d” and rolled his eyes,Kate even tho she would help you she felt bad for smiling and looking down with wide eyes because she was recording a minute before you a Bruce even started arguing and knew she would replay this footage.

Duke ,even tho scaredly surprised,wanted to laugh,babs was had a smile of worry and amusement,Stephanie was laughed for 3 seconds then stopped immediately,knowing she would get in trouble.

Dick looked uncomfortable with the energy y’all had created in the studio today,tim had drank hot coffee so he wouldn’t laugh.

….and Cassandra was the most surprised that you even dared use sign language to call Bruce of all people a “fucking punk ass bitch.” But honestly was kinda proud and turned on by your boldness.

And was honestly surprised Stephanie’s laugh didn’t activate Jason’s or anyone else’s.

And king Alfred just snickered.

But you had knew you had fucked up. Like 100% ,you knew it.

“Y/N….what the hell did you just say AND sign?” Bruce asked,griping your shoulder slightly hard to turn you around.

“I-I-I-I said ‘ugh why me?’” You stuttered and signed since you didn’t speak that loud.

“Y/N IM GONN-“ he exclaimed but king Alfred cut him off!

“MASter Bruce I think you need to calm down. Y/n you are excused.” He said with a smile and you were happy inside.

You mouthed a ‘thank you’ and walked to your room. But of course you had to dance up the stairs.

But that night was just the start of Cassandra’s obsession.

- time skip to your 18th birthday-

“Awwww guys thank you!” You were so happy! And now Everyone was an official adult well except for Damian of course but he was close!

“Of course y/n!” Your best friend and mentor Cassandra Cain beamed with joy! Cassandra was 20 but you thought of her as a parent figure or she least a big sister!

“Time to cut the cake!” Duke announced happily at his two favorite sisters besides Barbara and even Stephanie.

After the cake was cut and after the party you all did some fun things and went on about your Day before going to the bowling alley that night.

Dick and babs went to get some cameras for paper pictures and not just ones on your phones.

But you didn’t need any of it bc they already gave you hearing aids made by lex Luther so now you could hear! Fully! Now you could hear everyones beautiful voices! And your own!

You liked how deep Cassandra’s was! You even told her it while you were getting in the pool. She couldn’t help but blush!

She walked back inside to talk to Kate for a little bit then came back out ten minutes later. Following kate with some cherry lemonade. Of course three glasses to be exact.

As i saw y/n out in her bikini I took a sip of my lemonade.

“Yo? You good cass?” I heard Kate speak next to me. “Yup.” I said short,and sweet as I put my glass down. “Are you sure? Are you sure because for last couple of minutes you look like you just saw a goddess!” Kate whisper yelled as y/n started to dry off.

That’s because she is!

“Man I’m fucked up in the head and she bout make me bring my crazy out.” I mumbled hoping she wouldn’t hear.

“Wait what’d you say?” Whispered i shushed her. “Wait who?!” She whisper yelled as y/n was walking over.

“Hi guys!” Y/n said with the prettiest smile ever! “Hey y/n!” We At the same time as she fully reached us.

“Can I have a glass of lemonade.” She asked sounding bubbly. So cute. “Of course y/n that’s why I brought it out!” Kate said a little too happy.

“Well thanks! Have a nice day ladies!” She said walking back to the pool with a glass,sitting on one of the tanning chairs.

“Ok so are you gonna tell me?” Kate asked while I just sighed. “Y/n. Of course.” I responded.

“Oh! Damn well are you gonna tell her you like.” She asked. Tf I look like telling that shit already? Fuck outta here! “Hell no!” I whisper yelled in response.

“Ugh well you’re gonna have to tell eventually Cassie.” She said but who said I was gonna have to tell you? “I don’t and I’m not.” I didn’t have time for the bullshit.

“Oookkkk crazy Carrie! Ima go get ready because in a couple of hours we’re going to the bowling alley.” She said while getting up and getting her glass of lemonade.

“Bye kathy.” I said giving her a stupid nickname since she gave me one that referenced a horror movie. “Oh shut the fuck up.” She said flipping me off.

I just did the same then went back inside so I wouldn’t do something to y/n that I might regret.

Hours passed and I couldn’t wait to get this over with since you were already tired out and had a nice time.

“Hey y/n can I ask you a question?” Kate asked walking over to you as you were sat at the booth in front of the allies.

“Sure Kat.” You said with sheepish smile. I was so jealous at the nickname. “How does my voice sound?” She asked. “That was a trick question right?” You asked bluntly. “No! How does it sound to you?” She asked, making her question more clear.

“A little deep but with a slick and calm tone to it.” You answered with a sweet smile. Ugh she needs to get away from you now!

“Thanks!” She said happily. “Of course. You’re welcomeeee.” You said goofily. God you were so cute!

Just then Kate thankfully finally ran off and went to go throw her bowling ball. She missed all the pins. Haha.

I stopped playing and went to sit on the other side of the booth. Facing you.

“Hello y/n.” I greeted with a low voice. You bit your lip. It was so sexy. “Hello Cassandra.” You said looking down at your food while smiling.

“You ok?” I asked generally concerned. “Yeah…just a lil tired.” You answered,yawning immediately after. “Want me to take you home?” I asked. But I wasn’t taking you home. Not for a while.

“Really?” You asked with a little excitement in your tone as you started smiling. God I could just fu- “of course!” I said smiling,not even continuing my thoughts. “Sure!” You said very happy.

“Ok let’s go.” I said then got up and announced to everyone how I was taking you home. They all hugged you and said their love yous and byes.

I made you put your coat on and we walked outside.

I unlocked the doors and and opens the door on your side for you.

“Thank youuu.” You said to me and I just nodded and got in myself. You immediately fell asleep. I tied up your hands just in case.

I drove you to my safe house and oh honey.

I know.

R.I.P. Dame Edna Everage (Barry Humphies), 89John Barry Humphries AO CBE (17 February 1934 – 22 April 2023) was an Australian comedian, actor, author and satirist. He was best known for writing and playing his stage and television characters Dame Edna Everage and Sir Les Patterson. For his delivery of dadaist and absurdist humour to millions, his biographer Anne Pender described Humphries in 2010 as not only "the most significant theatrical figure of our time … [but] the most significant comedian to emerge since Charlie Chaplin".

Humphries' characters brought him international renown. He appeared in numerous stage productions, films, and television shows. Originally conceived as a dowdy Moonee Ponds housewife who caricatured Australian suburban complacency and insularity, Dame Edna Everage evolved over four decades to become a satire of stardom – a gaudily dressed, acid-tongued, egomaniacal, internationally fêted "Housewife Gigastar".

Humphries' other satirical characters included the "priapic and inebriated cultural attaché" Sir Les Patterson, who "continued to bring worldwide discredit upon Australian arts and culture, while contributing as much to the Australian vernacular as he has borrowed from it"; gentle, grandfatherly "returned gentleman" Sandy Stone; iconoclastic 1960s underground film-maker Martin Agrippa; Paddington socialist academic Neil Singleton; sleazy trade union official Lance Boyle; high-pressure art salesman Morrie O'Connor; failed tycoon Owen Steele; and archetypal Australian bloke Barry McKenzie.

Humphries' character Dame Edna Everage became an enduring Australian comic creation. Originally conceived in 1956, Edna evolved from a satire of Australian suburbia to become, in the words of journalist Caroline Overington: a perfect parody of a modern, vainglorious celebrity with a rampant ego and a strong aversion to the audience (whom celebrities pretend to love but actually, as Edna so boldly makes transparent, they actually loathe for their cheap shoes and suburban values) – The Sydney Morning Herald.

Like her ever-present bunches of gladioli, one of the most popular and distinctive features of Edna's stage and TV appearances was her extravagant wardrobe, with gaudy, custom-made gowns. Her costumes, most of which were created for her by Australian designer Bill Goodwin, routinely incorporated Aussie kitsch icons such as the flag, Australian native animals and flowers, the Sydney Opera House and the boxing kangaroo. Her outlandish spectacles were inspired by the glasses worn by the Melbourne eccentric, actor and dancer Stephanie Deste, as were many other aspects of Dame Edna's personality.

As the character evolved, Edna's unseen family became an integral part of the satire, particularly the travails of her disabled husband Norm, who had an almost lifelong onslaught of an unspecified prostate ailment. Her daughter Valmai and her gay-hairdresser son Kenny became intrinsic elements of the act, as did her long-suffering best friend and New Zealand bridesmaid, Madge Allsop.Throughout Edna's career, Madge was played by English actress Emily Perry, until Perry's death in 2008. Perry was the only other actor ever to appear on stage with Humphries in his stage shows, as well as making regular appearances in Dame Edna's TV programmes.

Dame Edna made a successful transition from stage to TV. The talk show format provided an outlet for Humphries' ability to ad-lib in character, and it enabled Edna to reach a wider range audience. As other Australian actors have begun to make a wider impression internationally, Edna did not hesitate to reveal that it was her mentorship which helped "kiddies" like "little Nicole Kidman" to achieve their early success.

Humphries was married four times. His first marriage, to Brenda Wright, took place when he was 21 and lasted less than two years. He had two daughters, Tessa and Emily, and two sons, Oscar and Rupert, from his second and third marriages, to Rosalind Tong and Diane Millstead respectively. His elder son[51] Oscar was editor of the art magazine Apollo and a contributing editor at The Spectator.[54] He is now an art curator. His fourth wife (from 1990 until his death in 2023), Elizabeth "Lizzie" Spender, previously an actor, is the daughter of British poet Sir Stephen Spender and the concert pianist Natasha Spender. They lived in a terraced town house in West Hampstead, his home for forty years.

In the 1960s, throughout his sojourn in London, Humphries became increasingly dependent on alcohol and by the last years of the decade his friends and family began to fear that his addiction might cost him his career or even his life. His status as 'a dissolute, guilt-ridden, self-pitying boozer' was undoubtedly one of the main reasons for the failure of his first marriage and was a contributing factor to the collapse of the second.

Humphries' alcoholism reached a crisis point during a visit home to Australia in the early 1970s. His parents finally had him admitted to a private hospital to 'dry out' when, after a particularly heavy binge, he was found bashed and unconscious in a gutter. After that incident he abstained from alcohol completely and occasionally attended Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) meetings. He was one of the many friends who tried in vain to help Peter Cook, who himself eventually died from alcohol-related illnesses.

Humphries was a friend of the English poet John Betjeman until Betjeman's death in 1984. Their friendship began in 1960 after Betjeman, while visiting Australia, heard some of Humphries' early recordings and wrote very favourably of them in an Australian newspaper. Their friendship was, in part, based around numerous shared interests, including Victorian architecture, Cornwall and the music hall.Humphries appeared in the 2013 documentary Chalky about his longtime friend and colleague Michael White, who produced many of Humphries' first Dame Edna shows in the UK.

Other notable friends of Humphries included the painter Arthur Boyd,[59] the author and former politician Jeffrey Archer, whom Humphries visited during Archer's stay in prison,[60] and the comedian Spike Milligan.Humphries spent much of his life immersed in music, literature and the arts. A self-proclaimed 'bibliomaniac', his house in West Hampstead, London, supposedly contains some 25,000 books, many of them first editions of the late 19th and early 20th centuries.[62][63] Some of the more arcane and rare items in this collection include the telephone book of Oscar Wilde, Memoirs of a Public Baby by Philip O'Connor, an autographed copy of Humdrum by Harold Acton, the complete works of Wilfred Childe and several volumes of the pre-war surrealist poetry of Herbert Read.

Humphries was a prominent art collector who, as a result of his three divorces, bought many of his favourite paintings four times. He at one time had the largest private collection of the paintings of Charles Conder in the world[64] and he was a great admirer of the Flemish symbolist painter Jan Frans De Boever, relishing his role as 'President for Life' of the De Boever Society.[65] He himself was a landscape painter and his pictures are in private and public collections both in his homeland and abroad. Humphries was also the subject of numerous portraits by artist friends, including Clifton Pugh (1958, National Portrait Gallery) and John Brack (in the character of Edna Everage, 1969, Art Gallery of New South Wales).

Humphries enjoyed avant-garde music and was a patron of, among others, the French composer Jean-Michel Damase and the Melba Foundation in Australia. Humphries was a patron and active supporter of the Tait Memorial Trust in London, a charity to support young Australian performing artists in the UK. When Humphries was a guest on the BBC's Desert Island Discs radio programme in 2009, he made the following choices: "Mir ist die Ehre widerfahren" from Strauss' Der Rosenkavalier; Gershwin's "Things are Looking Up" sung by Fred Astaire; "Love Song" composed by Josef Suk; "On Mother Kelly's Doorstep" sung by Randolph Sutton; "Der Leiermann" from Schubert's Winterreise song cycle; the 2nd movement of Poulenc's Flute Sonata; Mischa Spoliansky's "Auf Wiedersehen"; and "They are not long the weeping and the laughter" from Delius' Songs of Sunset.

Cultural historian Tony Moore, author of The Barry McKenzie Movies, writes of Humphries' personal politics thus: "A conservative contrarian while many in his generation were moving left, Humphries nevertheless retained a bohemian delight in transgression that makes him a radical."

In 2018, Humphries was criticised on social media for making comments considered by some to be transphobic. The comments included referring to gender affirmation surgery as "self-mutilation" and transgender identity as a whole as a "fashion—how many different kinds of lavatory can you have?" The comments prompted the Barry Award, a comedy festival award in Melbourne named after the comedian, to be renamed the Melbourne International Comedy Festival Award the next year.Humphries had two brothers and a sister in Melbourne. His brother Christopher worked as an architect, his brother Michael (1946–2020) was a teacher and historian, and his sister Barbara also a former schoolteacher.Humphries died following complications from hip surgery at St Vincent's Hospital in Sydney on 22 April 2023. My Best of 2022: Supporting Actress

My Best of 2022 is a series of annual lists in which I pick the best of the best from 2022, all leading up to my official picks for My Top 10 Films of 2022.

I almost put Stephanie Hsu in the top spot, but I’ve been thinking about how well Kerry Condon conveyed her voice of reason throughout The Banshees of Inisherin a lot, lately. She was a quiet powerhouse who faced off beautifully with every single one of her gargantuan cast-mates. I probably had the most fun with Hsu’s performance, though, and really, she, Jamie Lee Curtis, Kate Hudson and Keke Palmer are the most fun performances of the year... scene-stealers, the lot of them. In an unprecedented move, I’ve edited this to include two performances from Women Talking. Claire Foy and Jessie Buckley were incredible, and definitely deserve their spots I’ve placed them in. Bumped were Sadie Sink for The Whale and Carey Mulligan for She Said.

Okay, it’s time…

What important things did we learn about:

Callen: Not invited to see General Collins. Sam: Trust is earned, not assumed. Kensi: Predator, not prey but worried about Deeks and Kessler. Deeks: Has bad thoughts about Kessler. Fatima: Working on not blaming herself for a friend’s addiction issues. Rountree: Taking down Ops to have a private talk with Callen and Sam. Kilbride: Officially running the OSP while earning trust.

What not so important things did we learn about:

Callen: Still asking about Hetty. Sam: Fair and discreet. Kensi: Megan Sinclair and a velociraptor. Deeks: Coming up with undercover legends that include blonde pool boys. Fatima: Layla. Rountree: Not around much in this episode. Kilbride: Still believes in elections, old fashion that way.

Where in the world is Henrietta Lange? Out of touch and likely somewhere dangerous.

Who's down with OTP: Kensi and Deeks have some tense moments about the return of David Kessler. Well, he’s tense, she’s not feeling great about it but seems more worried about him. They are very much on the same page at the end of the episode about Mia’s actions.

Who's down with BrOTP: The BrOTP issues here are between the Admiral and Sam who more often than not are on the same page. Thought it was out of character really for both men. Both know the other will almost always do the right thing for the team, for NCIS and for the country. I can see the usual having issues with authority coming up with Callen but Sam and the Admiral should be in a better place – friendship with Collins or not. Sam surely understands the political sensitivity of this case and how NCIS could have a Senator with a lot of malice in his heart toward the agency. The trust conversation at the end was foolish. Kilbride has proven himself a worthy leader in the past, Sam is the model agent in the bunch. This was drama for dram’s sake. Feh.

Kensi and Fatima had a nice moment as Kensi’s Megan checked into rehab. Then they put on a show for Mia Hahn.

Fashion review: Callen is wearing a white and pale blue plaid button-down shirt. Black long-sleeve tee for Sam. Kensi is in a white tank top with a pattern of three red vertical stripes. Deeks is in a softball shirt with black sleeves and a grey body. Grey, black and white long-sleeve button down shirt for Fatima over a black turtleneck. White tee-shirt for Rountree under a blue and white plaid jacket. Blue three-piece for the Admiral with a pale blue dress shirt and a blue plaid tie.

Undercover, Kensi is in jean shorts, a white-tee and blue denim shirt unbuttoned over the tee. Later she is in a green sweatshirt. Fatima is wearing a white tank top and black pants.

The following day, medium blue tee-shirt of Callen. Charcoal-grey long-sleeve tee for Sam. Kensi is in a pale purple tee-shirt and peach zip-up hoodie in rehab. Deeks is wearing a white pocket tee-shirt. A cornflower blue pullover sweater for Fatima. White tee for Rountree again. Very dark blue three-piece suit for the Admiral with a crisp white dress shirt and a blue pattern tie. In bed, Kensi is in a medium blue tank top, Deeks is in a grey one.

Music: None.

Any notable cut scene: None.

Quote: Sam: “Why didn't you tell us you knew Collins still had the weapons?” Kilbride: “'Cause I got damn tired of fighting with my partner. That's right, I said partner, and that's what you were on this case. Why didn't you call me when you figured out where the weapons were? You know why.” Kilbride and Sam simultaneously: “Trust.” “Kilbride: “Something that is not assumed by men like you and me. It has to be earned. Well... I hope I earned a little from you today.” Sam: “Little bit.”

Anything else: There is a big shootout at a warehouse in Los Angeles. ATF is on the wrong side of the shooting. ATF Agent Reyes is looking for help – he has a man down. Callen and Sam are racing to their location. “Callen, please come quick.” LAPD is eight minutes out. Callen and Sam are the ATF’s best hope.

As the shooting continues, the doors behind the ATF open. Gunmen enter and start shooting the ATF agents. As Reyes tries to comfort one of his dying agents, she passes him her gun. She sees the gunmen standing behind Reyes. “Please, I have kids,” Reyes says while taking his injured agent’s weapon. “And now they are orphans,” replies one of the gunmen. Reyes turns around and fires.

Callen and Sam enter the warehouse but can’t find anyone. Both are concerned that it is “too quiet”. Sam finds the undercover agent and the man was tortured to death. Callen and Sam see Reyes dead in a pool in blood. Sam calls Fatima saying they found the ATF Agents. She is sending an ambulance but Callen tells her they don’t need one. “Send the coroner.”

At the office, Kensi offers her condolences to Callen and Sam. Callen wants Kensi and Deeks to “just keep digging” as he and Sam go to see the Admiral. Demanding to know what happened, Callen explains to Kilbride that this was a long-term joint taskforce with the ATF to arrest a team of German arms dealers. ATF placed an agent undercover with the arms dealers. A large shipment of AK-47s and other small arms were being sold. NCIS was going to make arrests at a planned sale of the weapons. Reyes called that morning to say his man inside was made. ATF had to go in to rescue their man. Everyone is dead. “Some of them were friends,” Sam laments.

The main arms dealer is a former German Naval Commander Lukas Meyer. He is associated with extremist groups in Germany, dealing illegal arms in the last five years. Sam wants the arms dealers – “they killed our brothers and sisters.” The Admiral is all in, wanting to speak to his counterpart at ATF.

Before Kensi and Deeks can help, Deeks has news of a badly decomposed body found off the coast of Florida. Michelle Boucher, the girlfriend of Kensi’s nemesis David Kessler, was the body. Kessler had homes in Palm Beach and the Bahamas so it makes sense to Deeks that he would return to someplace he knew.

Since there is no proof that Kessler killed Boucher, Kensi tells Deeks that Kessler could walk into their office and there would be nothing NCIS could do. Deeks would like to see Kessler do that – it would be the last thing Kessler ever did. Kensi is worried Deeks. “He’s not getting a second chance, not with you,” Deeks tells her, not exactly calming her fears.

In Ops, Fatima has security cam video from the warehouse. Callen and Sam missed Meyers and his assassins by two-minutes. The team is sure the vehicles the assassins used were dumped but Fatima will track the plates to see where they were before the shootout. Fatima has information about Mia Hahn, Meyer’s longtime girlfriend. Hahn has a criminal record and a history of drug issues. In fact, she’s in rehab in Malibu. Kensi suggests going in undercover as an addict to get close to Hahn. Sam likes the idea so Fatima starts building a backstory. Before Fatima can start working, she has a message from Kilbride, who wants to speak privately to Callen and Sam in his office.

ATF tells Kilbride the buyer was a former US General, Richard Collins. Collins is a right-wing “influencer” with a large militia group in southern Arizona – “Sons of Our Fathers”. They are election-deniers and anti-immigrant. Guns in their hands could be a real problem. Kilbride arranged a meeting with Collins but it is only Kilbride and Sam. Feeling left out, Callen wants to know why he wasn’t invited. Kilbride believes Collins would be more comfortable with former military men. Callen does not seem thrilled that the Collins being comfortable is a priority. Dealing with a highly decorated officer, Collins is going to be handled as the Admiral wants. Callen is off to work with Rountree.

Kilbride reiterates that Collins is well-connected and powerful in his own right. They both could lose their careers if this goes badly. Fatima calls in through a never before seen (or heard) intercom system. Arizona’s Governor Case wants to speak to Kilbride about the case, especially the nature and scope of the investigation into General Collins. Sam gives Kilbride the room.

After the call, Kilbride tells Sam they are still on to interview Collins though the Governor would like NCIS to treat this with great sensitivity. Sam notes another person is concerned with Collins’s level of comfort. Kilbride tells Sam that Collins is making it known to political insiders that he is interested in running for Senate.

At what looks like a generic government sedan, Sam wonders if he should find a “Make Arizona Great Again” hat. The Admiral does not want NCIS impacting any future election – elections the Admiral truly believes in “but maybe I’m just old-fashion that way.” Sam assured Kilbride he is “fair and discreet” but there are seven dead ATF agents and they are wasting time “tiptoeing” around Collins. Kilbride makes it clear he wants the same thing Sam does but how the investigation goes forward is up to Kilbride. “Oh, that’s good to know, Admiral.”

Deeks is helping Kensi come up with her back story – lonely housewife with an Oxy addiction who is interested in the pool boy. Kensi wants to know more about the pool boy. Kensi screws up her manicure to look like it has been a while since she got her nails done. Deeks’s pool boy is blonde with his own addiction – having sex with lonely housewives. Deeks thinks they can both clean up their act, take up carpentry and open a CBD store. Fatima arrives with more background on Mia Hahn. Hahn attended Berling Univery of Techincal for two-years – studying abstract algebra and number theory. That probably doesn’t work with Deeks’s background for Kensi.

Megan Sinclair is Kensi’s undercover name. Megan has a DUI and a conviction for doctor shopping Oxy prescriptions. Fatima will be joining Kensi and Hahn in rehab as Layla. Before Kensi leaves, Deeks asks Kensi how she is feeling about Kessler. She’s not feeling great but at least they found Kessler before Kessler found them. Kensi sees herself as “predator, not prey.” Deeks makes a joke that Kensi is a velociraptor. Kensi isn’t joking - she also doesn’t want Kessler to make her or Deeks “do something stupid.” Almost not able to look at Kensi, Deeks tells her “life is far too good to let him screw it up.” Kensi does not look happy.

The Admiral is greeted by his first name by “General” Collins. Sam is introduced as “retired Special Warfare Operator, Senior Chief Sam Hanna.” Sam brings up he’s really NCIS Agent Sam Hanna. The General is not holding Sam’s NCIS job against him. Kilbride tells Collins about the ATF killings and Lukas Meyer’s involvement. The General seems surprised. Finding the whole thing terrible, Collins wants to know what he can do to help. Kilbride explains that they know Collins was planning to buy weapons from Collins, weapons brought into the country illegally. Collins is relieved that he didn’t buy the weapons – that would have been a hell of a mess.

Sam brings up the purchase was for over 200 AK-47’s. What did the General have planned with that kind of firepower? Collins claims as a token of his appreciation, he was going to give the guns to a group of patriots he supports. These patriots were protecting the border and giving a lot of their time to the country. Collins continues to talk about a “well-regulated militia” and “the security of a free state.” Quoting the Second Amendment, which Sam is very familiar with, Collins tells them he is supporting a militia which is his right, it is as American as…Sam cuts him off with “free and fair elections.” Chuckling but not in a good way, Collins agrees. Kilbride is not pleased. Ending the interview Kilbride asks Collins to contact them if he hears from Lukas Meyer. Collins agrees and promises Sam that he has an “open door policy” when it comes to NCIS.

In the parking lot, the Admiral wants Sam to back off. Sam can’t – there is no way that Collins was surprised that the guns were brought in illegally. Kilbride agrees but if Collins lawyers up, they have no chance of cooperation. While Sam sees the gun gifts as a purely political move, the Admiral only wants to solve the case, which has nothing to do with Collins’s politics. Sam disagrees. The gift is of illegal guns – the heart of this case. Kilbride understands Sam’s point of view but he is running the case in a manner he sees fit. Sam knows the first job of an agent is to follow the facts. Kilbride doesn’t appreciate being told that. Sam asks if Kilbride is willing to follow the facts. The Admiral gets into the car.

At Tranquility Villa rehab, Kensi is checked in by a kind staffer. Fatima is already unpacking in her room. Kensi asks if Fatima has seen Mia – she has. Mia has been visiting the restroom regularly with another woman. They are probably either drinking or using drugs. Or both. Fatima talks about a friend she wanted to get into rehab but she didn’t understand how brutal addiction really is. Kensi is sympathetic. As Mia goes to the restroom, Fatima follows. The kind staffer takes Kensi to her room.

Sam joins Callen and Rountree in Ops. Rountree has been tracking Meyer’s credit cards. He is staying in a downtown hotel and partying in downtown nightclubs. Sam sees the area where Meyers is travelling has a number of big warehouses that could easily store the weapons. Rountree announces the system crashed so he starts a reboot. The reboot allows Callen, Sam and Rountree to talk without Kilbride hearing.

Rountree has photos of Collins and Kilbride serving on several DoD advisory committees over the last 15-years. That makes sense to Callen – both are high-ranking, career military men. There was also a picture of the two men fishing in 2008. “He didn’t just know him, they’re friends,” Callen notes. Sam is worried that Kilbride is protecting a friend.

At the rehab center, Kensi, Fatima and Mia Hahn are in a group session. Kensi’s Megan and Fatima’s Layla disagree in the group. Hahn talks about the pain in her life – abuse from a loved one. She’s got a bruise on her cheek and lies about how she got it.

Pulling Deeks into the armory’s back room (where the vests and helmets are stored), Sam tells Deeks there are no mics in that area. Giving a debrief, Sam updates Deeks about the Kilbride-Collins background. Deeks is going to tail Collins since Collins likely knows NCIS is on to him.

In Ops, Rountree has followed all the places Meyers and his team go. One building in the area is owned by a German company. Rountree is checking to see if Meyers is involved with the company but the building is large and has been empty for a year. Callen wants a search warrant – “push the judge, we need this fast.”

Deeks tails Collins to an industrial location. With his long lens camera, Deeks photographs Collins meeting with a beefy fellow. Sending the photo to Ops, Rountree confirms it is Devin Walker, leader of the Sons of Our Fathers militia group. Sam offers the idea that Collins is telling Walker the gun deal fell through but based on Walker’s reaction, Deeks doesn’t think there is much disappointment in their conversation. The three men wonder if Collins is stupid or ambitious trying to complete the sale. Sam wants to tap Collins’s phone.

At the rehab, Mia Hahn is drinking in the trash area when Fatima arrives. Hahn offers a sip but Fatima wants the whole bottle. Fatima attacks Hahn, stealing the bottle and demanding Hahn’s Oxy. When Hahn denies having oxy, Fatima gets more aggressive until Kensi tackles her. The two fight as Fatima takes a fake beating, complete with fake blood.

After Kensi offers to help Hahn up, the two talk. In college, Hahn was approached to model. She was successful, making good money. While modeling, she met Lukas Meyer. There was clubs, drinking and drugs. Hahn is drinking straight from the bottle as she tells this story. Nursing her drink, Kensi asks if Lukas beats Hahn. It is so much worse, according to Hahn. Meyer controls all that she does – what to wear, when to sleep, what and how much to eat.

When Hahn wanted to go back to modeling – a swimsuit shoot in the Caribbean - Meyer held a knife over their stove, heated it up and pressed it into her back. Kensi is horrified. Weeping, Hahn repeats what Meyers told her – “You’re not going to be a swimwear model anymore.” Kensi tells Hahn she has to get away from him. Hahn explains that will never happen. She’s been handling Meyers books for years – laundering his gunrunning money. “He’s never going to let me walk away.” Kensi tells Hahn to talk to the police. She can’t. Meyers knows where her parents live. He’d have them killed. Kensi tells Hahn she’s so sorry.

The following morning, with the REACT team, Callen and Rountree get into the German-owned building. It is empty.

Kensi calls Deeks from rehab. Explaining that Hahn can’t flip on Meyer, Deeks updates Kensi on the raid. The longer this takes, the easier it will be for Meyer to leave the country. Kensi think they should force the issue.

In her room, Hahn is grounding pills into her alcohol. With only two pills left, Hahn tells an arriving Kensi she can’t tolerate withdrawal right now. Kensi has a plan - a friend with a violent, abusive boyfriend had a plan. As a criminal, Meyer has enemies. If he was found shot dead in his apartment, there would be lots of suspects. Since Kensi helped her friend solve her problem, she would be willing to help Mia solve the same problem. “It’s a lot easier than you think.”

As Sam walks into the office, the Admiral wants a word - why was the wiretap of Collins ordered without checking first? Sam admits he had Collins followed – “Also without my knowledge,” the Admiral notes – and Collins met with the head of the militia. Kilbride understands why Sam ordered the wiretap, just not why he wasn’t told. Bringing up their past, Sam thinks Kilbride may be too close to Collins.

Kilbride canceled the wiretap – Collins is too well-connected not to be told before the paperwork was approved. If Collins shuts down the wheel, the weapons will not be recovered and the whole case goes away. Sam doesn’t quite believe Kilbride. Kilbride wants to know if there is anything else Sam is keeping from him. The German company that owns the building downtown is a subsidiary of one of Meyer’s other companies. Kilbride wants the building staked-out. The weapons will wind up there.

Kensi and Hahn are walking on the beach. Kensi assures Hahn that she isn’t doing this for the money. Hahn doesn’t believe Kensi or her story about the friend. Kensi adjusts the story – she is the friend who was raped by her boyfriend. Hahn believes her. The two break out of rehab.

Taking Rountree to the mic-less back area of the armory, Sam wants Rountree on the stakeout of Meyer’s building. He also tells Rountree about the wiretap being killed. Sam wants Rountree to get a tap on Devon Walker’s phone – hear the other end of the conversation. But the Admiral is to be kept out of the loop so the warrant request he is to go straight to the judge and not through Ops.

At a park, Kensi and Hahn are drinking shakes, though Hahn needs something stronger really soon. Hahn texts her connection to get some drugs. Kensi asks if Hahn thinks she could do rehab without fear of Meyers. She does. The two discuss the weapon to kill Meyers – Hahn knows a lot about the illegal gun trade. Kensi has a guy. She needs an address. Hahn’s dealer contacts her. They’re off to get some money for drugs.

Deeks pulls up outside the bank. ��He is introduced as Max to Hahn. He’ll need $3,000 for the gun but he knows Megan is good for it. Hahn is not interested in being indebted to a man. Deeks gives a full rundown on the gun – barrel was re-honed, cleaned with bleach, no way to trace it. Kensi sees how much money Hahn has. “I need a lot of Oxy.” But some of the money is for Kensi – it is a payment not for killing Meyers, it is a payment for getting her away from him alive. Hahn gives Kensi the address where Meyers is staying in Long Beach and instructions in how to get into the home. Hahn is leaving – she knows Megan can get cleaned up. She knows there is a strong person inside of Megan. The two hug before Hahn leaves.

Fatima has the REACT team going to Long Beach. Kensi and Deeks will join them. Lukas Meyers is considered armed and very dangerous.

The wiretap conversations between Walker and Collins sound like code to Sam. Chats about the grandkids, family deciding not to move. It sounds like a “stick to the plan” talk to both Callen and Fatima. None of this makes sense unless Collins already has the guns and has had them since before the ATF agents were killed. It would explain the empty warehouse. It would also explain why Collins wants to stick with the plan. Walker’s cellphone is traced to a storage facility Sylmar. Callen and Sam are going to meet Rountree at the facility.

Kensi leads her REACT team into the front of Lukas Meyer’s home. Deeks is coming through the back. Inside the home are an older couple – not Lukas Meyer. Hahn provided a fake address.

Callen and Sam pull up to see the ATF and Rountree outside the storage facility taking on fire. ATF was a surprise. Devon Walker surrenders and it looks to ATF that all the weapons have been retrieved. The final suspect is lead out – it is General Collins and he’s in Admiral Kilbride’s custody. Complete with the terrible NCIS vests that will get you shot under your armpit. “A little late gentlemen,” he says as he walks past Callen, Sam and Rountree.

Kensi and Deeks walk into the armory – they’re ready to go home. Fatima pops up on the plasma – Lukas Meyer was found dead in his Hollywood apartment. LAPD ordered a tox screen but there is evidence on-site that Meyer OD’d on Oxycodone – they think he drank a lot of it. Deeks is stunned. Grainy security footage near the apartment shows a woman leaving – it might be Hahn. Deeks tells Fatima to tell ATF Meyer is dead – their agents were killed because of Meyer. Fatima has news that Hahn transferred $200,000 to an offshore account. NCIS is looking of it. Kensi doesn’t think they’ll ever find it – Hahn was too smart.

Deeks asks Kensi if Hahn played her. She didn’t, according to Kensi. Hahn did it all on her own. Deeks wonders if Kensi gave Hahn the idea or maybe the courage to do it.

Explaining that there are many things he and Hetty do not agree on, “the joy of a 16-year old single malt scotch” has always been their “common ground.” Kilbride shares two glasses with Callen and Sam before pouring one for himself. Callen asks if Kilbride has heard from Hetty. “Haven’t” is his reply. He doesn’t expect to for a while. When Callen asks if Hetty is safe, he and the Admiral agree – probably not.

Looking at Sam, Kilbride says “Agent Hanna.” Sam asks why he wasn’t kept in the loop about where Kilbride was in the investigation. Kilbride said he was tired of arguing with his partner and yes, he considered Sam a partner in this case. A partner who didn’t call when the team figured out the weapons were in the facility in Sylmar. Both agree it had to do with trust – “something that is not assumed with men like you and me,” the Admiral states. Sam agrees, “it has to be earned.” The Admiral hopes he earned some of Sam’s trust, especially since he’s official in charge of the OSP. Both Callen and Sam could have been in charge but both turned it down. The Admiral thinks that is a good thing since they are far more valuable in the field. The three share a toast to making the team the best they can be.

In bed, Kensi is wide awake, Deeks is sleeping. He cellphone rings. Deeks thinks it is his Mom. It is Hahn, the call forwarded from Megan’s phone. Hahn apologizes about the wrong address – she didn’t want Megan to screw up her life after all Megan did for her in rehab. The call was on a delay – Hahn is throwing it into the ocean. After Hahn says her goodbyes, Deeks thinks they should call Fatima, see if the phone hasn’t been tossed. Kensi is in no hurry, they can do it in the morning. IN the morning, Deeks notes, Hahn will be long gone, “and that’s a good thing.” As Kensi drifts off to sleep, Deeks wishes her “sweet dreams, my beautiful little velociraptor.”

What head canon can be formed from here: Back to the troubles between Kilbride and Sam – this isn’t the first time the team had a political sensitive case. It may be the first time the Admiral was in charge for it but again, I think this was just conflict for conflict’s sake. The end showed that everyone was on the same side so I don’t know what they were doing.

Said this at the time of the episode but the death of Michelle Boucher was disappointing. In “Raising the Dead”, Kessler was said to be barely literate, just filled with rage. But he’s brilliant enough to escape from prison, cozy up to the President and get out of prison once again. Always thought the more interesting story would have been Boucher as the mastermind to all the crime and Kessler the front man/sociopath/psychopath.

Equally disappointing will be if the NCIS fellas have to save Kensi from Kessler. She got him once, as a young, up and coming agent. Kensi must remain the predator in this awful storyline.

For an episode about gunrunning and militias, this was an oddly talky hour.

Hockenberry Hired to Grow, Retain Ohio County’s Population

It’s like she’s rehearsed for this job her entire life, and that’s why Stephanie Hockenberry is anxious to begin in her new position with the Ohio County Development Authority. Hockenberry, a lifelong resident of the area where she and her husband, Michael, are raising their daughter and son, was officially hired as the Growth and Retention Manager of the OCDA during last evening’s Ohio County Commission meeting. The position will be funded by the Commission, the City of Wheeling, and the OCDA, and it will be supported by several other organizations in the Wheeling area. The job was advertised over the summer and interviews had been conducted since mid-September. Commissioner Zach Abraham introduced the idea two years ago after researching ways to add population in Ohio County, and Hockenberry will work on a plethora of aspects that define the current status of population, the annual average commerce, and the projections for the future. “We are excited to have Stephanie join our team, and we’re also excited to see what this position generates as far as information and progress,” Abraham said. “We believe Stephanie is perfect for this position because of her enthusiasm and the fact she knows this area as well as anyone. “Her primary duties will be to develop, coordinate, and manage the strategies and activities of her position, but Stephanie also will be communicating with a lot of folks from outside the area so we can examine what we need to do here to make our area and our county as attractive as possible,” the Commissioner explained. “We know we love where we live, but now it’s time to tell people why.” Hockenberry is excited to begin on Monday. “I've lived here my whole life. I was born, raised here, and I've never left, and I am raising my family here, as well,” she explained. “The past few years I’ve witnessed so much revitalization all over Ohio County, and that should tell everyone that while this is a great place to live and raise a family, we are always working as a community to make our home a better place for everyone. “To me, Ohio County is a ‘Hallmark’ kind of place because of all of the amenities we have here,” she said. “The Highlands is a wonderful place for all of the needs of the people in the county, and it’s also proven to be a great place for employment. And the city of Wheeling has so much, and our park systems are better than most communities can imagine. Think about it – how many communities have something as wonderful as Oglebay, and its own symphony orchestra, the interstates, and proximity to larger cities like Pittsburgh and Columbus?” Stephanie and her husband, Michael, are raising their two kids in Ohio County. Since the ‘40s There were 73,115 people living in Ohio County a little more than 80 years ago, and the majority of the men worked in factories, steel mills, and glass plants during a time when manufacturing was centered in the eastern portion of the United States. As the west was developed, the population began to move, and so did the bulk of living-wage employment opportunities. The mystery how to add population since has haunted the Wheeling area for several decades, especially since the 1990s when a double-digit percentage of people departed for opportunity elsewhere. Communities throughout the Upper Ohio Valley since have been forced to fund thousands of demolitions because the big decline caused public safety issues. Hockenberry, however, believes today’s positives outweigh the negatives. Today’s population, according to the U.S. Census Bureau, is approximately 42,000 and the rate of decrease has slowed to less than 2 percent. “We're going to be sharing the employment opportunities, we're going to be sharing our housing opportunities, and we’re going to be sharing all of the facts about the growth that is currently taking place that will enable future growth,” she said. “There is so much information that we’ll be sharing with potential developers and potential residents so they will know what it is we have to offer right off of Interstate 70. “Plus, Ohio County is a terrific place to live if you are someone who has the ability to work remotely because of the low taxes and cost of living,” Hockenberry said. “If you take a look at the states that border us, their property taxes are higher and that’s something that matters to people looking to purchase their new homes.” She realizes the challenge will be tremendous each day she reports, but Hockenberry knows why she and her family have chosen to remain home, too. “We decided to stay here for several reasons,” she said. “One, it’s a very safe place to live and raise a family. Two, just look at everything we have here in the county. And three, we have great schools in this area. Those are aspects about where we live that I can’t wait to share with as many people as possible. “The best part about this position is that I’ll be telling people about the place I love to live,” the manager insisted. “That’s a story I could tell all day, every day, and I’m really looking forward to getting started next week.” The Ohio County Courthouse is located at 1500 Chapline Street in downtown Wheeling. Position Description The Ohio County Development Authority advertised the position with this description: This role will primarily focus on solutions to sustain the current county population and businesses in addition to fostering new population (remote workers and others) and small business growth throughout Ohio County, WV. This position will work in collaboration with many partnering organizations throughout the county and with state and federal delegation representatives and agencies to help activate/engage many segments of the local community, such as, but not limited to, housing/real estate development, entrepreneurship/business, healthcare, education, transportation, community non-profits, infrastructure, entertainment/life style, park system, arts/culture, religious, public safety, and many others in the Wheeling/Ohio County area. Ohio County and the greater Wheeling area is an ideal place to raise a family in a safe and friendly area with wonderful quality of life activities and opportunities. We are not only the Friendly City, but we are the Friendly Area. We recognize our historical background/culture, natural beauty, and many other wonderful amenities and assets and believe Ohio County/Wheeling is the perfect place for individuals and families to Live, Work, and Play. Monitor population increase or decrease and report to the Committee/Team and set strategies/tactics/programs to support the continuous increase in population, while helping to support the retention of population through other community groups, committee members and their teams. Identify gaps in work being done already by members of the Team and encourage collaboration and partnerships towards the growth and retention goals, using in kind resources effectively and efficiently. When appropriate, work with developers/investors to help them navigate processes to be successful in the County and collaborate with the City to direct to the appropriate organizations for further follow up and direction Identify strategies to improve real estate opportunities for both businesses and individuals; collaborate with local realtors; identify specific housing needs (for example, the need for homes in the $150,000-$300,000 range; is there a need for high-end rentals, etc.) Develop on-going communication with the G&R Committee and identified stakeholder groups (healthcare, education, entertainment, business (by industries), marketing, banking, government, non-profits, hospitality, real-estate, law makers, other state or federal agencies, creative/arts communities, etc.) and meet with them regularly to better inform marketing strategies, collect data, and filling in any gaps with support from other organizations or their designated representatives. Work on a plan and collaborate to help attract major investors with other economic and development organizations Identify quality of life issues that need to be addressed, based upon facts and statistics, and report back to the Committee on next steps and develop a plan with community groups to help achieve. This winery is where we had our team activities last year and so I decided to return for a wine tasting again this year as we were so well taken care of by our host, Carrie Iafrate.

A quiet lunchtime pub trip descends into chaos as the patrons morph into monsters, convulsing on the floor and biting shards of glass. Evil is spewed out of these zombie-like creatures, spread as a virus from projectile, foam-filled spit. The nightmare however is brought to a halt by the pub landlady, who is clearly no stranger to violent, stumbling men. The cure to this monstrous affliction? Like in life, a simple glass of water (albeit chucked and drenched over the cast and camera).

The video acts as a commentary on toxic behaviour fuelled by lads and alcohol. Maxi stated "As we've all seen, the wrong group of lads with the wrong pints can result in a real life horror-show. I wanted to take that lad-ish behaviour and make it physically toxic, and show how this toxicity can be corrosively infectious (plus it made for a great excuse to finally make a zombie movie)."

Drawing on a love of 80s horror films, the practical effects and make-up literally come bubbling up and bursting out of the performers' skin. In particular the patient zero-zombie, as played by Hugo Hamlet, twists and turns in violent fashion as he is possessed. This is made all the more visceral by the saturated, gritty aesthetic capture on 16mm by DP Owain Morgan.

The whole video is accompanied by a Mike Skinner like to-camera performance from Fin Power, the front man of the band, regaling his first-hand experiences with toxic masculinity.

Work Uniforms

At the diner, we don't exactly have work uniforms. No tshirts with our logo on them or signature hats, but we still have rules. All of our hair has to be tucked away in some sort of way so that it doesn't get in the food. If we don't put it up or under a hat, Mrs Stephanie will break out the nets. And no one likes the nets.

So, of course, I keep my hair under a beanie. It doesn't do much, considering how short my hair is anyway, but apparently it does something.

Now, once my shift has "ended," and the diner is closed, with or without straglers, I tend to start removing my acessories. I'll take off my glasses, my beanie, my necklace(s). Whatever to make me feel more comfortable while doing my closing chores.

Mrs Stephanie always gives me a certain look whenever I take off my hat, though. If customers are still in the building, there's still a small chance I'll have to handle food. But, usually, I just shrug at her and say, "I'm off work."

She can't really argue because we are officially closed, and if needed, the other assistant can handle food. I'm just a glorified cleaning lady/secretary

Edelweiss “Weisy” Spencer Roberts, died Friday, February 18, 2022, at Baptist Health in Lexington, KY, at the age of 97. Born February 5, 1925, in Lynchburg, VA, a daughter of the late John Kilpen Spencer and Letitia Florence Womeldorf Spencer. Weisy was a graduate of E.C. Glass High School, received her bachelor’s degree from Bob Jones University in Cleveland, Tennessee, where she was a member of Sigma Lambda Delta Literary Society, as well as some graduate work at Morehead and Eastern Kentucky University.

She moved to Bourbon County, KY, following her marriage in 1947 to Marion Roberts who predeceased her. She was a talented artist, seamstress and knitter, having graced many family members and friends with her creations. She also like to travel and enjoyed trips to many states and several different countries. Weisy was a substitute teacher for both Bourbon County and Paris City Schools for many years and taught full time at St. Mary School in Paris for several years. She had worked for the UK Extension Service as a SNAP employee, was an insurance adjuster for Federal Crop Insurance, and worked as a life insurance agent with Pennsylvania Life. She spent part of many summers as an adult volunteer with the Bourbon County 4-H Camp program and was a member of Little Rock Christian Church for 75 years.

Survivors include her children, Sherrie Wilson, Randy (Judy) Roberts, and Ben (Linda) Roberts; grandchildren, Traci (Joey) Wasson, Stephanie Adams, Cathy Eads, Danny Roberts, Laura (Chris) Jones, and Beth Roberts (Tom Viehe); great grandchildren, Shae (Tommy) Stanfield, Carraden Adams, Austin Adams, David W. Eads, Thomas Eads (his fiancé Lilah Donnelly), Anna Eads, Eleanor Viehe, Sam Jones, Alexis (Zack) Morris, Tabitha Wasson; great, great granddaughters, Joanna Stanfield, Amber Leigh Oney; her sister, Alyce (Lionel) Harrison of Huddleston, Virginia; niece, Marian Duncan of Carlisle; and a nephew, Billy Knippenberg of North Middletown; as well as a host of nieces and nephews around the United States.

Along with her parents, Weisy was preceded in death by her son-in-law Jack Wilson as well as six brothers, and four sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m., on Saturday, February 26, 2022, at Hinton-Turner Funeral Home with Rev. Rex Graham officiating. Visitation will be held preceding the service 1:00 p.m., until time for the service. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens with pallbearers being Danny Roberts, Austin Adams, Billy Knippenberg, Joey Wasson, Chris Jones, Tom Viehe, Thomas Eads and Kenwood Soper. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Little Rock Christian Church.
