But I'm kinda new to the Ratiomei corner of the fandom, and I'm afraid I don't know much about the ship. So I would really appreciate it if you tell me why you ship them and what made you ship them. Or what lore made you ship them. ANYTHING! Lmao just give me more Ratiomei food 😞😞❤❤❤

Kind of going chronological starting from here:

They were first introduced when Honkai Star Rail is still in 1.4 version if I remember correctly! 1.6 version Drip Marketing happened on October 31th 2023 11:00 A.M (GMT+7) at that time, and the 5 star Character that were revealed being Ruan Mei (Ice-Harmony) for the first half and Dr.Ratio (Imaginary-The Hunt) for the second half. It's pretty cute that Hoyo dropped them only 5 minutes apart (Xueyi, the 4-star as well though, after Ratio) since they usually postpone 2nd half 5-star for a day or two. This is their early drip marketing banner that some of you are familiar with!

But I really haven't start seeing things here, I love them both as their individual selves and crying a little because I want them both so bad but they literally gonna be released right after Argenti, who's been on my warp list for long long time ever since I saw his leaks ^____T (I'm an F2P Player, and still until now, so yeah)

// long story short, I receive a happy ending by attaining the 3 of them with extreme grinding + Ratio ended up being free :D //

Also I saw some of their gameplay leaks, some beta players weirdly likes to put them together in a team? Makes me goes '...hm?' But I haven't manage to see stuffs yet.

Then it all starts with THIS TRAILER. It was revealed here that there will be a new region being unlocked on Herta Space Station and it's turns out to be Ruan Mei's workspace, the Seclusion Zone. It's all cool until I realized Dr. Ratio were being placed in the SAME AREA.

I compare this trailer to previous character trailers, and literally can sense something.

Taking Imbibitor Lunae and Fu Xuan's trailer for example; them both being in the same planet (Xianzhou Luofu) but their character's animation were taken in different place, Dan Heng IL on Scalegorge Waterscape, while Fu Xuan on the Divinition Commission. Yet both Ruan Mei and Ratio's animation, not only took place in Herta Space Station, specifically the SECLUSION ZONE itself, not other places. I'm starting to lost my shit there, because I'm assuming SOMETHING goes on BETWEEN THEM if they were at the very same place.

Also I'm not sure how it this happens, I might just randomly came up with ship name myself and just search 'ruantio' on Twitter and SURPRISE SURPRISE? THE SHIP EXIST? And starting there I'm finding out they were often being referred as RatioMei instead!

The brainrot being so pure, I'm starting to sketch them out of the blue...and create something decent. But I'm not ready to reveal it yet, letting the art fermented for a while. Until hoyo, again, dropping that they will be the next Battle Pass matching profile pictures :]

Idk if some of people aware of this, but BP profile pictures most of the time always just...pair folks not coincidentally + matching themes as if they were couple. This the list of characters that were paired for BP chibi profile pictures before (also note it's so far always been male-female);

Therefore, right after this info getting dropped, I'm finally posting the art itself, being my first RatioMei fanart 😂

Now jumping into when the 1.6 updated + the lore was revealed!

I'm going to be honest as I play along the way (and for those who's interested with this ship but not playing HSR): they basically have zero direct interactions.

But! I may have create a breakdown of they might potentially knows each other a bit, you can read it on my twitter thread here! (and sorry not sorry if everything came out very delusional)

Dr. Ratio also left so much notes on that specific area of the Seclusion Zone that looks like a greenhouse lab and were packed with her critters + the imitation of Tayzzyronth (Aeon of Propagation)'s emanator. Compiling them all ↓↓↓

Besides that, they're also mirroring each other so much;

1. Ruan Mei actually didn't want to be part of Genius Society in the beginning yet gaining Nous' gaze. She even tossed the Genius Society invitation letter to trash can when she receive it. Meanwhile Dr. Ratio completed doctoral degrees in 8 fields and actually wish he could be part of the Genius Society one day, but the moment he receive letter from Interastral Peace Corporation (IPC) instead, he thought he might never be able to gain Nous' attention at all.

2. Related to previous part, there is a literal reason why 1.6 patch were named "Crown of Mundane and Divine". These two were more of a 'two pages in the same book' as what my mutual refers it. If you completed the trailblazer mission for patch 1.6, the reward name being "Mundane Recto, Divine Verso". I want to dig deeper about this Recto-Verso concept since it's a printing terminology and it resonance so much with their overall traits, maybe I'll create separated post for this later!

The 'mundane' and 'divine' crown itself is visible on their head, being their hairpins (this is my personal approach);

Ratio -> laurels/leaves ; grows on everywhere on the branch, unnoticed -> the way Ratio saw himself being a mundane between all the mediocre people, not special. Representing Mundanity

Ruan Mei -> flower ; grows near the tip, most of the time one top of tree branches, eye-catching, facing the sky -> Ruan Mei having a goals to be an Aeon, reaching for the sky and getting Nous (Aeon of Erudition)'s attention. Representing Divinity

Fun Fact Section

Ratio literally have a voice line if he were being put in the same team with Ruan Mei + opinion about her 😂 if you want to listen to his voice, check this out. He talks about fellow Simulated Universe participated Genius Society member as well, though. But it makes me freaking ill with the fact that he CHUCKLES a little in the middle of talking when added to the same team with her like I KNOW WHAT YOU ARE LOVER BOY

And to note, Dr. Ratio belongs to another faction under Nous beside Genius Society, the Intelligentsia Guild. And nope, he's not (directly) part of the IPC despite he works for them according to the storyline. I have a professor irl who also works as a consultant for a corporate company beside his academic career, and that's how I kinda view Ratio 'works for the IPC' wording goes :)

Now this is the interesting part comes! Besides him, there's an eye-catching figure who belongs to Intelligentsia Guild, and it's being...Ruan Mei's grandmother! This fact was written on Data Bank, not the playable character section (where you can level them up etc.)

Another fun stuffs I found on Dr. Ratio's lore is the one I highlighted in red;

My theory is that Ruan Mei's grandma might be also part of the rumored council, supported by the fact that Ruan Mei's intelligence were mostly inherited from her maternal line. I can only assume Ratio and her grandma knows each other, and it's potential that Ratio might have heard/know about Ruan Mei not based on other people's view, but from her grandma herself (judging how eager he learns the truth from credible sources). Also here's more thing that makes me hopeful for them;

Ruan Mei's grandma have been watching her for years, and from this, I kinda feel hopeful we're soon getting Intelligentsia Guild lore + further depth about these two characters as I felt like we've only knew them at the tip of an iceberg.

Plasma Grunt sent out a Patrat against Bentley and you can just tell that Bentley has a chip on his shoulder over the Gym battle because hes raring to go. Patrat starts with bide after Bentley wraps him up, after that I had Bentley use growth while Patrat stored energy. Next round Patrat releases the energy and Bentley hit him with vine whip. That combined with wrap gets the little rat int he red. Patrat manages to forestall hi defeat with detect but one return later and its over.

After defeating the Patrat Bentley learns Leaf Tornado.

The Plasma grunt and his buddies have enough sense to run off before we can really get going and run for their lives.

Its okay Hugh you didn't have a shovel anyway.

My idea for the protag (and no disrespect to your idea intended) is that you are woken up as part of an experiment by the Institute.

The Institute discovers Vault 111 during scouting missions, finding it to be perfectly functioning after 200 years. Most raiders and common folk avoid Vaults, since they hear that some "messed-up shit" happens in them and they don't tend to poke around out of fear. The Institute hacks into the Vault mainframe and discovers the purpose of the Vault is to study and refine human cryogenic hibernation (it would be implied the Enclave ordered this to see how their people could survive deep sleep if they ever had to board colony ships, or that Vault-Tec was building off data learned during Pre-War tests at the Sierra Army Depot in California). The Institute decides to launch an experiment: how could a subject, completely removed from the present react when placed in this new environment? Would they still remain true to Pre-War ideals? Would they indulge in baser instincts to survive? Could the Old World truly survive in the New Post-War World?

Thus, the Institute hacks into the system and, at random, releases one young adult-to-adult individual from stasis: you.

Now, granted, they aren't going to let you run naked and afraid out there, since they would consider it like tossing a deer in a cage full of tigers and not expecting it to die. They offer some slight "assistance" here and there, such as having random couriers deliver supplies to you or maybe a friendly courser arrives at the right time, but for the most part, you're on your own. The Institute tracks you, monitors you, and notes every deed you do.

When you arrive in the Institute's main concourse, whether you went in the peaceful way, fought your way in, or snuck in, you're greeted by an auditorium of cheering, applauding scientists and researchers, glad to see their experiment managed to survive this long.

The Institute then asks you questions, probing you, getting as much info as they can out of you. What did you think of the world? How does it feel to see your world so drastically changed, to see these people worshipping the past?

Again, you are not railroaded to do anything. You go to the Institute however you want and whenever you want, you control every action and every choice.

Hm. That is pretty interesting, and as I've remarked before, I like any step the institute takes toward doing actual research unlike the game. I suppose you could kind of fuse them; like Vault 111 was a Talent Fridge built on semi-experimental cryotech, and the Institute is doing a one-man trial run specifically to test how adaptable and useful said talent pool actually is in the new world.

That said, I think it would go a bit against the spirit of their experiment (and a bit of the player's feeling of achievement for surviving and thriving) for such overt help to be provided. Maybe instead they have supply caches for their agents and synths, with their locations hidden in encoded clues you have to cross-reference the map for, do a little puzzle-solving; and similarly some of their roving Gen 2 patrols or similar assets would temporarily aid you or such if you provided them a command phrase you managed to decode. Prove you have a bit of Institute-Smarts to find their help (bonus, if you do go meet them, you can pass a hard Int check to point out that this technique of providing help reveals a methodological bias in how they're evaluating you)

Ducktales Comics: Spies Like Us and Dime after Dime or Weblena: The Preschool Days (Lena Retrospective) (Comissioned by WeirdKev27)

Hello all you happy people and welcome back to Shadow Into Light, My Lena Retrospective, which fittingly has now come to Women’s History Month! I sadly do not have anything besides this arc prepared for the month. This month is pretty packed for me with two shows a week to cover, as while there’s only two weeks of Ducktales left final space starts up right after to take it’s spot, two arcs to cover, and two time specific movie reviews: animal crossing the movie and the 1990 TMNT film. I will try to get more than the currently planned top 12 superheroines list out there... but this month is very tight as is, so if I do not I deeply apologize.

Now that’s out of the way, it’s appropriate we start Women’s history month on some likely lesser known parts of Lena’s history, with some comics stories focusing on our faviorite emo lesbian duck and her 87 counterpart. Before I get started on that though Kev my patreon pointed out something intresting a few weeks back i’ve been forgetting to get to and since we’re looking into Minima, I felt this was the perfect time to do so: Lena’s Concept art.

There’s quite a few things to gleam from this. For starters as pointed out in the reddit thread I got the image as a whole from this was made in 2015, meaning Lena was one of the first new characters designed for the series and was part of it from the VERY early stages, as evidenced by the fact that despite clearly having their new personalities established, Beakly and Webby still had the old designs.

The other notable change is that her first design was way more like both Magica nad Minima, a bit more modern, but clearly far more obvious who she was related to. She also had all black feathers making the shadow twist a bit more obvious and was likely done away with both to avoid giving that twist away, the same reason for the fake lestrange name, and to avoid accidently black coding her, as while Lena being black would’ve been intersting, it also would’ve invited a firestorm of controversy given that their one black character in season 1.. woul’dve started off as a homeless, manipulative antagonist, and none of that would play well nor was it something the progressive crew of this show couldn’t spot from a mile away. And even this early on they have an almost final design ready, simply changing the shirt to fit her personality more, and her hair to be pink because it honestly looked better She also had green eyes throughout, but for whatever reason they phased them out. That part I don’t quite get as they look nice but probably they were hard to translate to the reboot style once they settled on their own. Her purple eyeshadow and haircut though have stuck since and were good calls.

One last VERY obvious note.. Webby was gay for Lena from minute one. While Dana helped it is now VERY obvious they gay coded this relationship from the design phase, and the crew was entirely aware the whole time and I gave them less credit than I should have. They clearly had this in mind, and it’s very likely ONLY subtext because Disney, while making more and more progress, is very reluctant to have queer characters as Owl House was a struggle and since they have a tighter leash on properites based on the sensational 6, that means Frank knew they had the same odds of making Webby or Della queer in anything but subtext that a pig has of suviving in a slaughterhouse. I bring this up because I fear the series getting accused of queerbaiting somewhere down the road instead of doing what they could with a bad hand and hoping they could make the show as gay as they could. Penny is as out as they posisbly could get her, and Violet and Lena’s dad’s got a full apperance, if no speaking role that made it obvious beyond a shadow of a doubt their gay and did it in a plot important episode. So they did their best and I want them to get credit for that.

But while this is all intresting stuff, join me under the cut for the meat of today’s review as I dig into Lena’s only apperance in the tie-in comic that was never punished here, and the only apperance of her protoype Minima.

Spies Like Us: As I mentioned this comic was never published here which is doubly weird to me because of how I knew this story existed. Since I follow comics weekly and buy trades reguarly, I read the solicits companies put out eveyr month to see what new series are coming, what the ones i’m currently reading are doing, and what trades are coming out. That sort of thing, and it’s something I love. I know their basically adds.. but their well put together adds that really pull you into the books you like. The big two and the indies are all very good at it and sometimes i’ts the only way to know a comic is coming if the company dosen’t make a press release for it ahead of time.

So naturally given there are several comics I follow at idw, paticuarlly the TMNT comics, I read those solicits and found they were going to do an issue with Webby and Lena becoming spies, and was excited about it. I ended up forgetting about it and never really followed the Ducktales comic as it came out, and upon reading an issue or two recently, one for another comission by kev as one story, happy happy valley, was particularly terrible. For those who haven’t read the story or my review, it involved the family getting stranded on an island where their forced to partake in activites and smile..that somehow turned into an aseop about Louie wanting to be rich. It ended with this

Yes.. really. That actually happened. But even with this, I fully planned to cover the issue when I covered Lena, and brought it up to Kev when he commissioned the retrospective. He gave me the discord equilvent of a blank stare and had never heard of it. I soon found out why: the story was replaced as, and fair play to disney, it spoiled Beakly’s past from the agent 23 episode which wasn’t going to air in time. What dosen’t work is they never reprinted the story in The US.. didn’t put it in a future issue and just swap it’s place didn’t put it in the nothing. And the story was fully complete as we’ll see, with a cover and everything so they had no excuse whatsoever to NEVER use it, even with what happened to Lena in the season finale, this clearly took place before that and it was weird to just shelve it because of that. But thankfully when a bunch of the stories were reprinted overseas, this and another one, also webby centric got published overseas. But not in english.

Lucky for me, I was able to find an english translation of an english story which you can read RIGHT HERE. It was translated by @neopuff and I thank them for it as without them this review would not be possible and want to give them all the credit. So was it worth all their hard work translating it? Well let’s take a look.

We begin at the Manor where Lena is skulking around suspiciously.. though it turns out she and Webby are just playing hide and seek. Though Lena accuses cheating. The dialouge here is pretty flat though that’s not Neopuff’s fault at all. As I can attest from reading other stories a lot of the early IDW comics are just this flat in dialoguge no matter the writer as they were likely given character descriptions and basic info about the show they likely had written up for merchandising and Frank and Co were given no involvement and likely weren’t made avaliable to consult on the comics to help them be a bit more fleshed out. It’s very obvious to me Disney just tried to get these pumped out so they’d have a series in stores to tie in without carring about qualities and given Scrooge debuted in comics, their lack of care toward that side of things in general, but especially in the first american published original duck comics in a while, bothers me a lot. It’s inexcusable.

That being said the story isn’t half bad nor is the setup as the two hear a beeping and find it’s Beakly’s phone going off with a mysterious message from Q, Webby thinks she’s been reactivated, and is encouraged by Lena to go look after her while she stays along. While Webby says in response

It just feels grossly out of character for both. Lena is far more subtle about manipulation as shown five minutes ago and Webby blindly trusts her. Because she has a massive crush on her and is naïve about how the world works. It just seems very odd of her to get suspicious as she never does on screen, and again it comes off as Disney having barely given the writers any materials on them when i’m sure Frank or Matt would’ve been happy to write up a thing for them to help outside of the usual press materials they were given.

Though hte last line isn’t all that out of character and has an obvious answer as within a jumpcut Launchpad’s taking them to London and is told to blend in.. which he does with an australian flag and accent.. good gag.

So our heroines do some heroic breaking and entering and look for the package, but soon find while hiding it’s already in transit.. and had obvious bows on int. Whoops. Our heroes trie the old follow tha tcar bit and refreshingly, it dosen’t pan out as the guy stops and tells them to get out. A nice twist. Unable to follow, our heroes instead find launchpad lost, as his map is upside down

So Lena dares him if he can follow that plane, a nice bit of character for both. I will give Joe credit. While the dialouge’s a bit flat and there was that out of character moment.. for the most part he does nail the actual character down and does use it decently enough. He’s just not given enough page room or actual details to work with is all.

So while our heroes follow they end up having to crash as they run out of fuel.. lucky their with the expert but end up near home where the package is delivered to. Turns out this wasn’t a spy thing, this was just a thing with her aunt. That’s fine and a nice gag.. it’s just ruined by just sorta.. ending. Lena leaves disapointed and Beakly scolds webby for “playing spy” and she’s sad. That’s it that’s how it ends. Which dosen’t fit the characters, as while Beakly would defintely scold her, it just dosen’t FIT that she’d be that tearse or not appricate the effort or give her an actual lecture and it feels like Joe had no idea how to end this after the gag and just.. ended it.

Final Thoughts for Spies Likes Us: This was okay. It is a bit of a disappointment as for the only story not available.. i’ts just okay and not really above an average Ducktales comics story, with some nice character bits but feeling a bit weak overall, as do at least the first half of the idw comics. I haven’t read the later stuff to see if it got better. It’s worth a read if you like Webby and Lena as characters and it’s not BAD, it’s just not anything impressive and is a simple hyjinks filled misunderstanding story.

Dime After Dime:

So now we go back a bit to the original. I didn’t do these in chronological order because frankly, Dime after Dime is the better story of the two and the bigger one at that, so I have more to work with here. But the original also had comics and honestly from the few i’ve read much BETTER comics. I chalk this up to two things: The Ducktales 87 comics seem to have come out AFTER the series was already a hit, and since Ducktales is pretty close to the original uncle scrooge comics minus it’s own tweaks here and there, it’s easy enough to just write the stories like you would a regular uncle scrooge story, just with Webby and Launchpad added, whereas the idw writers were staffed with writing for all new versions of the characters with noticable differences without much to go on. It’s why to me with tie in comics you have two options: Wait long enough so you can put your story inbtween the episodes like the Steven Universe and Regular Show comics did or just make your own continuity entirely like the Adventure Time Comics and the Archie TMNT Adventures series did. The ONLY time i’ve seen a comic work like this is the Bravest Warriors comic, which had a talented writer and fit well enough in the margins until it sadly ended.. and honestly is BETTER in some cases than the series. I might get to it someday. The point is this comic shows why you need to have a deft hand adapting something instead of just falling your arms about and hoping it’ll work.

So today’s comic was part of some Disney Series called cartoon tales, which clearly repackaged comic stories from wherever, and put them together. I don’t know much about it and the only other issue avaliable collects the disney adventures adaptation of “Just Us Justice Ducks”, which I might cover at some point. This book does have two other stories which i’d be happy to do on comission or on my own at some point, one involving gladstone the other gizmoduck, but for now, i’m just sticking to the title story and the reason you all came here.

So we open with Magica gazing into her crystal ball from her Mt. Vesuvies base saying that Scrooge will never know what hit him I know exactly what and who wiil hit him thank you very much.

Scrooge is seeing Webby off to her first day of day camp, getting all teary eyed which is touching. Beakly apparently goes with her as the story never SAYS Sshe does but she’s not also not around when the story moves on, as Launchpad says it looks like rain. Scrooge dismisses him, though Launchpad turns out to be right. Scrooge had good reason for once though, instead of just being a dick good on you comic for making me not want to punch him in the face, trust me that is a high bar to clear with the scrooge comics, as the weather was fine just a minute ago. Naturally it was Magica All Along! Nothing scrooge can do now that eveyrthing has gone wrong! Her entrance though is sadly not a catchy earwormy tune, but .. this confusing line

I think your thinking of Gladstone. And he’s still single so.. have at that but no Scrooge is the one who values hard work over anything else and brags about THAT or being rich. I .. I don’t get this line and frankly I don’t want to. Even in stories where the dime is supernaturally lucky and the source of his wealth he dosen’t boast about it because he’s not stupid and dosen’t want everyone knowing how to bankrupt him instantly. This line will baffle me until I die, presumably, given my life’s tragetctory, after reviewing an episode of mighty ducks and slipping on some a jerky wrapper.

Scrooge asks what she wants...

No this isn’t that kind of story sadly. Her plan is to.. zap the bin with lightning and take the dime. Really just went with your first draft didn’t you magica? But as stupid as this plan is Scrooge has prepared for it. He installed a lightning rod on the bin to save on power, and to power his new super soaker traps. So all Magica did was save him money. She flies off and nothing is acomplished.

So we get back to Webby at the Teenie Weenie Day Camp.. and just so you don’t think that was a terrible joke on my part...

My theory for how this name got approved at all is the editor KNEW how that sounded and just wanted to see if Disney would actually print a comic with the phrase Teenie Weenie without getting what it means in slang or how hilariously inapproriate it is to namme a children’s camp after it.

Your probably wondering who that grown woman calling Webby a dweeb is. Well story wise, she’s SUPPOSED to be another kid at the camp around Webby’s age. In practice, she looks like THIS in closeup

So it looks and plays like a 30 year old woman snuck into the day camp and no one’s noticed she’s not actually a children. Or their just humoring her because she had a week to live. I don’t know. I do know she doesn’t get to judge on names.

Snippy Von Glitz, proof rich people really do hate their kids and this this comic is trying personally to give me material. Snippy is your average alpha bitch, taking a chair from Minma and being obnoxious and classist and all that jazz. Minima gets hers back by making the chair bouncy then returning it to normal so Snippy gets in trouble when she makes up things about the chair, with the lady in charge getting ready to call her Dad. You cannot convince me that her “Dad” is just what she calls her husband, this is how they both get off, and that the lady at the preschool only tolerates it because they pay her a lot and so far the kids haven’t noticed Snippy is 30. Webby likes minima finding her name pretty, proving that the ho yay is alive no matter the webby and magica relative, and Minma returns the favor by saving her from a block.

Minma is reluctant to make an actual friend, finding they aren’t worth anything and given most of the kids here apparently pick on her and her aunt is well.. Magica, it’s understandable why she’d be so cold. But Webby presses on and says something from Scrooge about friends. Which given Ducktales scrooge has none goes weird but it gets Minma to find out she knows and lives with Scrooge, so she cons webby into taking the dime for show and tell, showing that she can manipulate them with her powers, and that he won’t notice it’s missing, getting her with “I thought you wanted to be friends”

So let’s pause for a second and compare and contrast the two: Both are the niece, or at least sorta in Lena’s case, of Magica, both manipulate webby, and both are her first real friend: The 87 boys are little monsters and I don’t consider them friends or even brothers, while the 2017 ones are just that: brothers. Their her siblings in all but blood, not friends and have hteir own long complicated history.

But otherwise the two are vastly different. Lena is a far more complex character as she’s been abused her whole life, is a rebel because Magica hardly gave her agency, and while she starts wooing webby out of self interest it’s clear even as far as the first episode she cares. Lena would gladly be part of the world if she could and this whole scheme is to gain that choice.

Minma is still sympathetic but very different: She walls herself off because the other kids laugh and mock her for being herself and lashes out at them.. not unreasonably mind , but still feeling she needs no one else.. but as we’ll learn later she’s only helping Magica to finally feel accepted, to get all the fancy clothes and stuff that will make her popular instead of that grown woman masquerading as a kid for disturbing reasons. Minma is at her heart just a hurt kid desperate to fit in. And while Lena shares the desire for a place to belong.. it’s at it’s core much sadder. Lena.. wants a family. Someone to love her and to care about her and actually look after her. Minma has that she just wants to be loved. it’s similar but very diffrent and I can see why Lena evolved into what she did, as Frank and Matt ended up going in a far darker but ultimately more interesting direction. Minima is not a bad character at all though and without her I don’t think we would’ve had Lena, but at the end of the day the 87verse is just not that complicated, so the reboot needed something more and that more evolved into who we have now.

Both kids excitedly talk about their new friends, with their respective guardians being distracted. Scrooge is distracted by the fact his car is a bit bumpy and Launchpad offers to fix it up for free with some parts from a buddy, which given the sentence “This won’t cost you anything” makes him erect, Scrooge agrees. Magica meanwhile, whose watching Minima while her mom is away which raises a LOT of questions we don’t have time for like who she is, is she’s poes wife or does Magica have other siblings... it’s a lot of questions we’re never going to get answers to.

The next day Webby got the dime easy as Scrooge was distracted. so Minima swaps them while she’s distracted. But while swiping it was easy, which to be fair Webby is likely approved in his security so it woudln’t match her.. or the story just needed to progress. You make the call.

Magica does the logical thing and goes and get sthe dime and the story ends there.. and i’m shitting you, she of course brags to scrooge, reveals minima as her spy, and offers to RACE him for it shortly after he realizes he has a fake.

The only major flaw in this story is Magica’s overconfdience, which isn’t BAD persay, but here has gotten to dumbass proportions. She just can’t plan for anything and a CHILD has a better plan than her that only dosen’t work for reasons we’ll get to. And that plan is almost ruined by Magica taunting scrooge!

So a race is on but Launchpad has transformed Scrooge’s old Model T into this

Damn that’s cool. Scrooge of course dosen’t like it, but honestly you get what you paid for. Oh that’s right you paid nothing for something you NEED to use every day for transportation.

At the rickity thickity bridge, Steve Buschemi’s worst roll and her minion ask Webby to roll with them and Minima mistakes this for betrayal planning to soak them all.. only for Webby to DEFEND HER, pointing out minma’s her friend, how she dresses is fine and she loves her no matter what.. the last part’s implied. The 30-year old asshole and her minon leave Webby and Minma is genuinely touched, as no one’s done that for her before. She put up so many walls... she didn’t realize someone could ACTUALLY care about her, so obessed with thinking she had to be like that soccer mom in preschoolers clothing, she just had to be herself: kinda werid but in that fun adams family way. Webby says she knows Minma would do the same.. so while she prepares to let’s get back to the race. Magica realizes Launchpad’s roadster is actually gaining and spreads some tacks, but Scrooge counters with some money.. because of course he has a lot of money in the trunk. But Magica takes out the bridge and while scrooge awesomely JUMPS IT... he’s still too late.

As you probably guess though, Minima had a change of heart, and gave Webby the real dime back, and Scrooge confirms it. Minima TRIES to tell Magica, and Magica is horrified her niece is a goody goody “I”ll never hear the end of it at my astral aerobics class”.. I.. I want to see that. Let’s raise those spirit ladies and kick kick that soul, doge that shadow king punch them in the soul. Yes! Now eat it eat it and absorb it’s power!

We end on a button joke as Webby apologizes for taking the dime., Scrooge accepts it and Webby tells them magica learned to carpet and they gulp for some reason.

Final Thoughts on Dime after Dime: This story was decent. It has problems, some jokes don’t land and Magica is made horribly incompetent, but minima’s character arc is endearing, and Webby herself is precious as always and her winning Minima over feels genuine. And Scrooge is in prime adoring uncle mode with her and i’ts just so cute. And the roadster race is pretty awesome to watch honestly. It’s an exceptional and enjoyable tie in story.. and not the last ducktales 87 story we’ll be covering here. Wink wonk.

Voice: Not exceptionally deep, but lower than a tenor. Kind of raspy while still very lilted; the flirty gravel is definitely his thing, which comes naturally from smoking for ten years. When he’s being snarky gets the “greaser guy” accent going, but that’s completely manufactured and not natural at all.

Clothing: He has about two of the same outfit and wears those constantly: torn up old jeans, random white (or formerly white) t-shirts, Kings jacket, and his high-top sneakers.

Fashion Style/Lifestye: His look and aesthetic are obviously like the greasers of the 1950’s, as all the Kings are. He doesn’t have much of a sense of fashion beyond that, but his boyfriend is a lot more in tune with that and tries to dress him up every now and then – though most of the time it’s the same old dirty jeans and t-shirts with leather jacket.

Weapon of Choice: Baseball bat with random chunks of metal stuck in it that has “Return To Sender” painted on the side. He got his nickname from being able to hit a baseball grenade with such expert precision it was like a nuke.

He also carries brass knuckles as a last resort, a special pair with a spade hollowed out of the center and two long spikes on either end of the hand.

Skills: Extremely charismatic, can talk himself out of almost any situation and flirt his way into getting what he wants, in a direct contrast to his best friend’s terrible social awkwardness. He has no shame about using his good looks to his advantage – and he knows how good he looks, of course. He is also very physically strong and capable in a fight. Tagged skills would be explosives, speech, and melee.

Weaknesses: His loved ones, most particularly Dizzy. If anything happens to him, Cliff, or his mother, he’s going off the rails in defense mode. He is very quick to forgive them of anything they do wrong, no matter how egregious, and overlook serious issues out of a skewed sense of loyalty.

Hi anon.

I’ve never felt they were biased towards Aerith. Talking to Japanese fans, Tifa is by far more popular overall in Japan. Worldwide she’s had more cameo appearances. The only other FFVII character that has more than her is Cloud. When polls that are actually controlled (not bottable), Tifa is more popular.

Google trends shows that Cloti has always been more popular - since 2004, which is the furthest back it’ll go. I don’t fully trust it since I don’t think it takes every area into account, but it is interesting to see the stark difference.

There will always be fan service - and in the case of things like Airship Brigade (I think that’s what its called) you can have whatever couple you want. It’s for fun, but it’s not canon.

I think that’s where people can get mixed up. There’s fanon/fanservice and canon. Canon doesn’t show any type of romantic relationship between Cloud and Aerith. In fanon you can have this happen - but that’s because it’s fanon. I can also make Clack/Zakkura legit in fanon. It’s not canon.

There’s actually more evidence for Clack/Zakkura and AerTi than there is for CA, but that’s not for this post.

I think unfortunately some antis spread a lot of false information online and they really do make it seem like its their life’s work to do this. New fans can get confused and discouraged and slowly learn what the truth is. Yesterday I saw a tweet that somebody just finally found out that Maiden Who Traveled the Planet and Dismantled weren’t actually canon resources, but had been told by people online that they were.

Fans of C/A - especially Tifa haters - will make people think that Tifa is hated by SE and everyone else. It’s just not true. SE is going to go with where the money is in most cases. Nojima and the team want to make sure their story is clear now. OG, Advent Children, and Case of Tifa are usually very misunderstood. If you put ALL of the compilation together and actually look at it as it should be looked at, all of this makes sense.

In the case of Zack, he’s a very popular character. I think timing can cause a problem here, and I just had this argument last night.

People will argue since in DoC it’s not explicitly stated that Cloud and Tifa are lovers/romantically involved, that it must not have ever worked out. The devs purposely put Crisis Core out. They purposely redid parts of Advent Children and their novels because they realized people had SEVERELY misunderstood things.

Zack isn’t mentioned in DoC because at the time he was only mentioned in OG briefly and shown briefly during the Lifestream and then if you go and find the hidden/optional scene from the Shinra Mansion basement.

The reason Tifa is called a childhood friend in things like user guides is because the big reveal on what is actually going on with Cloud is the plot twist. Why would they freely advertise that? It’s a big reveal, it’s supposed to be a surprise. In the case of DoC’s guide, they get stuck on that and the “engraved in heart” which is actually “who he’ll never forget” in the English version - either way - why would he forget her? She was killed in front of him. He tried to kill her twice.

The other thing... people really forget how much guilt Tifa has. It’s just not heavily talked about and a LOT of people haven’t read Case of Tifa. I think it was one of the best things I did because it filled in some concerns I had over Advent Children.

So Zack isn’t forgotten - but they do keep his stuff sealed because it’s part of the ending of Remake Part 1. Zack was WRITTEN in so much for the Famitsu poll, they had to censor his name because of spoilers. He wasn’t even an option and people still got him int he top 10 - that’s how well liked he is.

A lot of people also will flat out deny Crisis Core. I saw this just as recently as yesterday as well. It’s hard to navigate at times. I think the only way I can keep myself sane is to ONLY refer and look at canon materials. To ONLY use non-optional scenes in arguments.

Even spin-off games like Kingdom Hearts end up showing Cloti. People said he was looking for Aerith, but he was actually looking for Sephiroth. People say Aerith was his light, but Nomura confirmed that Tifa was his light.

These two here are good to go over the KH and some other stuff.

In conclusion, the devs love Tifa too much to be neglecting her. The internet is a den of monsters. It’s like SOLDIER. It’s messy, it’s brutal, and full of lies. You can think something is more popular just by reading a biased person’s blog or going to certain websites. They’re very good at swaying you. Look at official materials, what games have been released where Cloud and Tifa have cameos, and decide for yourself on it.

I think Mobius also has a whole One True Love thing where Cloud is trying to remember something and it’s heavily implied that it’s Tifa. The little fairy thing actually is the one trying to help him with this. @silver-wield may have some more info on this.

Civilization VI: Gathering Storm Cheats

Enable Console

Start by head to the following file location:

C:Users[USER NAME]DocumentsMy GamesSid Meier’s Civilization VI

Now, make a backup of the AppOptions.txt file. Open that file and scroll down to the [Debug] section of the file. Look for a line containing the following text:

EnableDebugMenu 0

Change the 0 in that text so that it reads 1, and start playing the game like usual. Then press ~ (TILDE, THE KEY ABOVE TAB) to access the debug console.

Easy Deity Win (Exploit)

You can win the game on Deity difficulty and score some easy achievements by taking the following steps:

Choose your civilization.

Create a custom game with only “Score Victory” checked, and change the turn limit to 1.

Load the game and choose the Found City option.

End your turn as soon as the option becomes available.

You win the match, just like that, and you will unlock numerous achievements. This works on any difficulty setting.

Reveal the Entire Map

Use a text editor to edit the “Config.ini” file in your Steam Apps folder or the “DocumentsMy GamesSid Meier’s Civilization 6” directory.

Civ 6 Gold Cheat Engine 6.4

Find the “DebugPanel = 0” line and change it to “DebugPanel = 1”

Save and close the “Config.ini” file.

While playing the game, press ~ to display the debug panel.

Select “Reveal All” to reveal the entire map.

There are also other debug options you can enable.

Now you can easily access Debug Console in Civilization VI in-game. In order to activate it you just need to PRESS TILDE “~”. It will open a Debug Window, from there select “Reveal All” option.

Trading Glitch

When trading with the AI, you can use two major glitchs:

1- Give any strategic or luxury resources and as much gold per turn as possible, then click the option whatwill you give me for this?, the AI will break and will offer insane amounts of goldand gold per turn just for the resource.

2- Ask for whatever you want from the AI (cities included) and start putting gold (not gold per turn, only normal gold) untilthey accept the deal, then reduce until you’re as close as possible to the required amount, Ex: 25890 Gold of 26000 required, and click on the option make this trade equitable, this will break the AI and will ask an amount of gold per turn proportional to how close you were to the real price. (I bought 5 cities for 3 gold per turn and a jeans in emperor difficulty). This glitch can also be used in multiplayer matches that include AI, but will surely get patched soon.

Early Domination

If you want to enjoy Civilization 6’s battle systems, it’ll be best to pick up the Aztecs, Scythia, or the Spartan Greece. Aztecs allow your own territories to have more tile improvements as their Eagle Warriors convert slain units into Builder units. Meanwhile, Scythia’s units have bonuses against targeting wounded enemy units. Lastly, the Spartan Greece units generate Culture per enemy unit killed. Waging war in the earlier eras yields fewer Warmonger penalties, so feel free tosiege other Civilizations or City States if you need something from them. If you manage to take every Capital or wipe out every leader in the match, your Civilization will attain the laborious and difficult Domination Victory.

Camera keys

With Civilization VI now out in the wild, one of the biggest gripes is the camera control not being mapped to WASD. The good news is that camera keys can be changedwith some simple file editing. Rename Cities

1) Go to the Civilization VI installation folder – C:Program FilesSteamsteamappscommonSid Meier’s Civilization VI.

2) Go to Base > Assets > Text > install language – ..SteamsteamappscommonSid Meier’s Civilization VIBaseAssetsTexten_US.

3) Then open the file named “CityNames_Text.xml” with any text editor, then search for the city/civilization that you want to rename. Change the name there and save. Once you are all done reload the game and you will find your city name changed.

Disable Unit Auto Cycle

Then open “UserOptions.txt”

After that go to “line 60” then change “AutoUnitCycle 1” to “AutoUnitCycle 0”

How does it all end for O!Jason the college student on the Wayne medical trial?

Hmmm, thanks for taking me back to it:D

Okay, so, Jason is changing and he can see it - he was actually encouraged by the Docs to have a journal and writing down all the things he can notice, and the the journal is actually bursting with info... not only physical things, but as the trial progresses, Jay becomes brave enough to note down the psychological changes - like that he had never paid attention to alphas apart from trying to keep out of their way, but now he notices them - notices them quite a lot. Especially certain alphas and their, well, assets. Their strong bodies and sharp jawbones, and full lips, their... their assets>>

The Doc tells him that it’s normal, his biological clock was restarted and now it’s working as intended. Jay isn’t sure he likes it - it feels like becoming a different person almost, and he starts to consider that maybe it’s not worth it. Maybe he should stop the meds and return to his former life - he may never have a bond, but at least his life will be simpler, yes?

And then, one winter night, he’s coming back form visiting his mom (who is doing very well in the omega rehab - the centre got a substantial anonymous donation so the Christmas will be well stocked this year for the patients). It’s cold and windy, and he’s rushing home, not minding where he’s going, used to the anonymity of being considered a betta - and he happens across a group of thug alphas and, well... he smells of omega - not only his own budding scent, but also the scents of the people from the centre, of his mom... ad the alphas react.

They crowd him and posture, and their intentions are obviously not good, ans usually Jason would be perfectly fine with snapping at them and running away, with punching a couple noses, but now - now his hormones are all over the place and his instincts are still fresh, and the alpha scent int he air - it cows him. It makes his knees soft, makes him want to submit to avoid confrontation, it’s terrible, because he can’t stop himself from stepping down from these mongrels... And the alphas are obviously stocked, they snipe and joke, the omega is big and awkward, but it’s still an omega, it smells good, smells ready, aren’t you, kid? You smell wet for a knot!

And he isn’t, he’s so far from being aroused it’s laughable, but he can’t stop stepping away until he realises they’ve backed him up into a dead end and - well, he’s about to be used. Of course he is, of course, Jason Todd can’t have nice things, even things that look good in the beginning turn out to be disguised traps.

He loses his jacket, and his scarf, he struggles and bites, but he’s not a match for a whole group once they have him cornered, but he’s not going to submit like some bitch! He won’t!! ...but then one of them scruffs him, and Jay’s knees hit the ground...

That’s when the flash of black and blue hits the pavement behind the thugs and unleashes hell on them. Jay is slipping into a shock, so the fight is a blur to him, but holy shit, is that Nightwing? Is he being saved by a superhero? What the actual hell... he knows that they exist in Gotham, but he’s never seen one, people like him don’t get saved by the capes, only the nice families from better parts of town do... only pretty kids that smile tearfully to the cameras... he has to be hallucinating...

“Shh, calm down, pup,” a low, gravelly voice rumbles into his ear and suddenly something heavy covers his shoulders, something warm - it makes him realise how cold he is, how his body is shaking from head to toes. “You’re safe.”

Again, someone scruffs him - a big hand in a hard glove - but this time it’s gentle, almost careful, and instead of dropping Jason, it only stops his shaking. It takes him a long moment to realise that he’s sitting underneath a black cape and the alpha next to him is - holy shit, it’s Batman!

And you know, on a normal day Jay isn’t afraid of Batman, but being so close to the man himself is something else, it puts into sharp contrast just how big and powerful the alpha is, his imposing... Jay almost whimpers.

But the hand on his neck is gentle, fingers slowly pressing and releasing around his spine, it makes him feel - safe. It’s so weird.

And then his attention is dragged forward again when Nightwing drops into kneel in front of him - and he looks not even winded by the scuffle, not a scratch on him. God, but he’s handsome, even with the mask on.

“Jay, do you hear me?” Words come to him like they’re underwater. The alpha - it has to be an alpha, they’re always so handsy - holds Jay’s face in his hands and looks at him with concern. Is he so out of it? He’s getting cold again. “Jason, can you speak?”

Can he...? He... This whole omega business is crap, he doesn’t want it anymore... wait, how does Nightwing know his name?

“Jay...”

“We have to take him to the clinic,” Batman says. “He’s losing heat. Get the car, Nightwing.”

Is he? The cape is surprisingly warm.

And then he can feel Batman leaning over him and HOLY SHIT he’s being lifted! Like he weights nothing! Jesus, how strong is this alpha?!

Nightwing looks like he wants to add something, but a growl makes him shrug and turn away.... And Jason’s eyes drop down of their own volition. That stance is familiar. That walk. That ass...

He’s still muddled, but he manages to gain control of his mouth for long enough to mutter, “Dick...?” And he feels the arms that hold him up tense for a second, and Nightwing loses step for a moment...

And Jason feels like there are questions he should be asking, but that’s when the Batman - THE BATMAN - nuzzes his temple with a quiet rumble and his omega brain switches gears into cotton soft floaty haze...

5e Yuumi the Magical Cat build (and a test of Tumblr formatting)

So I have no idea how this website works but I mostly made this account to post DnD 5e character builds based on characters I like. Ever since the latest UA came out I’ve been ecstatic over the fact that we finally got another Support-based Warlock that isn’t Celestial. The fact that it’s a genie Warlock is awesome and there’s tons of roleplay that can be done with a pocket wish-granting elemental walking around with you... good thing we’re ignoring all that for the sake of B O O K!

Yuumi! To be honest I haven’t played League of Legends in ages but Yuumi was a character who drew my attention immediately because she’s an UwU Kitty-Cat... who had like a 36% win rate on release. She’s better now though! ...Probably. Regardless Yuumi was my immediate thought when I saw the tether mechanic from the latest Warlock UA. Constructing a build for The Magical 7th Item Slot Cat was something on my mind for the longest time, probably because the only other character I could replicate is... what? Io from DOTA?

I got the OK from Tulok the Barbrarian-senpai to make some DnD builds which is why I’m using his format. All these builds will keep away from Homebrew and can all be made on D&D Beyond... as long as your DM allows Unearthed Arcana which this build heavily relies on.

GOALS

Shield, heal, cuddle! - Yuumi is a support, through-and-through. Probably one of the most support-focused supports in the game. While this build will still have good damage output the main focus is on keeping your teammates alive and well.

Book, do something! - Yuumi is a dynamic duo between the cat and the book. Hopefully your DM is okay with you not really having a “patron” and instead having a sentient book fly around instead. I mean, it’s basically just a Hexblade right?

Lost Chapter - Yuumi honestly has a pretty basic kit. Replicating 4 spells is easy as cake in 5e so a lot of this build will be focused on replicating Yuumi’s typical item build as well.

RACE

Well as you can tell Yuumi is clearly a Bugbe-Ah who am I kidding she’s a Tabaxi. You’re welcome to pick whatever race you want but Tabaxi is honestly a good pick for this build. You get an increase to both DEX and CHA, some useful skills (be sure to ward bush!), and probably the most important skill: Feline Agility. Much like Yuumi you don’t want to be caught off-guard so a quick self-use of Zoomies can help you get away from the enemy and back to your team. For your language of choice... is Yordle an option? Halfling is probably the closest you’ll get to Yordles in 5e so just opt for that instead.

ABILITY SCORES

Much like Tulok I’ll be using Standard Array for ease-of-use. Roll for stats if you want but this is a general guideline for where to put your highs and lows.

15; CHARISMA - You’re cute, cuddly, and oh-so snuggly. Yuumi in-lore is an innate spellcaster and that translates into Charisma; helps that this also impacts Persuasion for head scritches.

14; DEXTERITY - Yuumi isn’t the fastest champion in-game (it’s on Book to do the “walking”) but she’s still a cat, and cats are fast. Dexterity affects AC as well as several other useful things.

13; INTELLIGENCE - Your best friend is literally a floating book it’s bound to know something.

12; WISDOM - You’re a smart kitty and you know a thing or two about Yordles... doesn’t stop you from dissing everyone else though.

10; CONSTITUTION - It’s technically in-character to dump Constitution but I don’t recommend it. Intelligence and Wisdom are higher on this list but you don’t really need them - feel free to get some Ruby Crystals.

8; STRENGTH - Here’s something that’s in-character to dump and I do recommend dumping. Strength is almost completely redundant in this build so don’t be afraid to ditch it.

This would be the point array I’d use if I was RPing Yuumi but if I wanted a more functional character I’d go CHA / DEX / CON / (INT / WIS) / STR for my stat spread. But much like in League you’re more than welcome to buy some health boosting items (notably an Amulet of Health) to compensate for bad stats.

BACKGROUND

Yuumi spent most of her time in Nora her master’s hut which would technically make her a Cloistered Scholar? But Sage works better if you’re teaming up with Book. You gain Arcana and History proficiencies which are honestly the two I’d pick for a magic cat that has a sentient Book as a best friend. You also get the Researcher feature which lets you know where to find any information: Book knows everything and can bring you anywhere - ask them to tell you where to go! You also get two languages and... uhhh who synergizes well with Yuumi? ...Yasuo? Is there a monkey language in 5e? Jokes aside just pick whatever language you think will be useful.

THE BUILD

This may come as a surprise but despite the fact that this build was made almost entirely for the sake of using the new UA Warlock patron we’re actually not starting with Warlock! While half of Yuumi’s power comes from Book (who I’d consider the “patron” in this relationship) the other half of her power is innate. Now I could make her a Sorcerer to reflect the magic within her or I could perhaps make her a Wizard to get more value out of Book but I had to ask myself a question: which class in D&D would be the best for a character who regularly insults and sasses other characters and thinks too highly of themselves?

LEVEL 1 - BARD 1

Yes this build is a Bardlock build, and the only reason we’re going Bard first is for the extra music instruments as well as the choice of any skill we want.

Your choice of instrument doesn’t matter much (it’s mildly important for Instruments of the Bard or if you have an Artificer, but other than that don’t worry) but I’m contractually obligated to take a Lyre every time I make a Bard. Other than that you synergize with Yasuo so steal his Flute, and I’ve always been a fan of Pentakill so I’ll take the closest to a guitar. (Lute)

For skills take Acrobatics, Persuasion, and Survival. You’re a cat which means you need to be quick on your feet and are adorable as hecc, and you need some survival instinct when you’re constantly hopping between dimensions. (Truthfully though as a Bard you should be picking skills that your party lacks, though I’d argue that Acrobatics and Persuasion should always be taken to remain “in character.”)

For cantrips take Message to coordinate with your party in team chat and Vicious Mockery; Yuumi is a cat of sass so feel free to diss your local god by calling him a dog. Or alternatively this could be you flaming the enemy team in /all - I won’t judge.

Cure Wounds and Healing Word are absolute musts for any support - in particular Cure Wounds is good for you since you can cast it from wherever your You and Me (tether) target is located. This means that whoever you’re tethered to can get the full value of Cure Wounds instead of you being forced to pop Healing Word instead. Other than that Longstrider lets you replicate Zoomies’ movement speed boost, and you can never go wrong with Featherfall. (The only spells that are really “mandatory” here is Cure Wounds. Maybe Longstrider too. Healing Word is always useful but both it and Featherfall are just suggestions.)

LEVEL 2 - WARLOCK 1

And from Bard we immediately jump to the meat of this build: The Noble Genie Warlock! You get your Collector’s Vessel which hopefully your DM will let be a book with cat-sized portals inside of it?

You also get some cantrips and guess what? Eldrich Blast! Yeah it’s a Warlock build you’re going to take Eldrich Blast. Other than that take Minor Illusion to pull something scary out of Book at the right time.

For main spells Hex is great to deal extra damage and also lets you debuff some of the target’s ability checks. Sleep is more of a Zoe thing but it’s still an insane pact-specific spell so there’s no reason not to take it.

LEVEL 3 - WARLOCK 2

We’re going to keep going in Warlock firstly for Eldrich Invocations. The main one you want here is Lance of Lethargy so you can replicate Prowling Projectile’s movement speed slow and help set up some kills for your team. The other invocation slot will be left open for now as we wait for level 4, as will our spell choice.

LEVEL 4 - WARLOCK 3

Hello Book! Of course we’re taking Pact of the Tome for the Book of Thresholds Shadows, or just Book for short. Again be sure to ask your DM if the book can be sentient for RP purposes. Or alternatively have it not act be sentient and make your party think your crazy when you talk to it! As for cantrips take Guidance to buff your ADC with some Adaptive Force (note: Guidance will not increase damage), Mending to fix any tears Book may receive (don’t want any more lost chapters!), and even though you’re not really a melee fighter being able to magically scratch nearby champions enemies with Shocking Grasp will give you a fighting chance if you get stuck in the middle of combat.

Note: While it would be more in flavor to use Primal Savagery the reason I opted for Shocking Grasp is because you can cast it through your ally to cause an enemy to be unable to take Reactions. It’s more in flavor to scratch at your enemies but Shocking Grasp is far more useful for this build. Truthfully you can take any cantrip you want though these are just recommendations; I know having 3 damaging cantrips is a little excessive but I like having an attack roll cantrip, saving throw cantrip, and backup melee cantrip.

Now for the Invocation we skipped. I think most 5e veterans have identified what we’re looking for: Book of Ancient Secrets. Book is a resourceful... book and the value of Ritual spells can’t go unmentioned. Take Comprehend Languages and Identify: flip through Book’s pages until you can find the info that you want! And don’t be afraid about picking bad rituals because you can just inscribe more rituals later on!

Now for Spells! Once we get to 2nd level spells we get a lot more stuff to choose from but let’s just choose the main spells we need:

Misty Step - You’re a noob if you’re not packing Flash. Also since this is a multiclass build the problem of Misty Step taking Pact Magic slots can be negated, as you can use your Bard slots to cast Misty Step.

Hold Person - Hit a snare with Final Chapter so your friends can clean up!

Truthfully though all your 2nd level spells open up a huge array of possibilities and I’d recommend picking up any one of them. The Noble Genie gets Enlarge / Reduce which is one of my favorite spells thematically: feel free to pop an Elixir of Iron on your tank!

LEVEL 5 - BARD 2

Feel free to take Warlock 4 for the ASI but I’d like to get the Bard features up-and-running. At level 2 you get Jack of All Trades which means that Book can always help you out of a jam. You also get Song of Rest which further solidifies your role as a support.

For your spell of choice Charm Person lets you use that cute kitty face of yours to get a bunch of fan art on DeviantArt.

LEVEL 6 - BARD 3

Let’s start by picking out our Expertise because that’s the easy bit: Arcana and History - straight from your background. You’re a magic cat with a sentient book you should know these skills well.

Now for your Bard College. There are several good choices: Lore gives you more Magical Secrets to let you “itemize” better, College of Valor lets you buff your allies’ attacks with some Adaptive Force, but at the end of the day the question is this: what subclass lets you shield while also increasing your allies’ movement?

College of Glamour yes really! The main reason for this is Mantle of Inspiration which was the most Yuumi-esque ability of the bunch. You can expect a Bardic Inspiration die to give all your allies temporary HP as well as allow them to move as a reaction without provoking opportunity attacks. You also get Enthralling Performance which is certainly a nice bonus: distract a crowd with your feline charm while the rest of your team does their work.

You also get another spell and... I’ll be honest throwing all the spells on this guide is making this post far longer than it needs to be. I can give some general advice but I’m only here for the class features - not the spells. Pick spells that will help your team, the same way you’d itemize to help your team in League.

LEVEL 7 - BARD 4

Mostly taking Level 4 Bard now for the ASI. Bump Charisma for better spellcasting.

You also get another cantrip: get Dancing Lights to summon some moon moths to chase!

Note: One more level in Bard will get you Font of Inspiration, which allows your Bardic Inspiration to come back on a Short rest. It will also buff Mantle of Inspiration. If you think you’ll need to use Mantle of Inspiration more feel free to take another level in Bard earlier than suggested in this build.

LEVEL 8 - WARLOCK 4

And another ASI! Bump Charisma again for a maxed out spellcasting modifier!

LEVEL 9 - WARLOCK 5

At this level you get another Invocation as well as 3rd level spells. There are quite a few good invocations to pick from but as a squishy support you’re going to want Zhonya's - or in this case Tomb of Levistus. While not quite Zhonya's this invocation will give you a phat health buff in exchange for making you completely stationary until the end of your next turn. Pop it if the enemy Assassin ults you and pray that your team saves you.

Now that you got 3rd level spells there are some obvious choices. Counterspell? Fly? Maybe Dispell Magic or Gaseous Form? Honestly if your DM is allowing UA spells Psionic Blast from the psychic UA works great with the Genie patron. Those are my picks for some good level 3 spells - unfortunately the spells from the Genie Patron aren’t that good besides maybe Create Food and Water, which is only really useful for specific adventures.

Oh and you get another cantrip! I’d recommend Prestidigitation to pull more things out of Book.

LEVEL 10 - WARLOCK 6

This is the point that this build really starts to shine through. Is it bad that this build needs to get to level 10 before it really starts working? ...Eh...?

Anyways you get Elemental Resistance at this level which lets you give your You and Me (tether) target resistance to one of four elements. You can only choose one resistance per long rest so try to pick the damage type you think you’ll run into a lot. Pro tip: Fire damage is really common. Ignite is a powerful Summoner Spell.

LEVEL 11 - WARLOCK 7

At this level you get access to Level 7 invocations which are all... ehhhh? There are some cool ones here but none of them are really great for Yuumi so instead we’re going to go back a bit and pick up Exhaustion. ...The Summoner Spell, not the D&D debuff. Mire the Mind lets you cast Slow once per long rest: slow is a really powerful spell that you can pop on the ADC so your team can wail on them. Just make sure you don’t lose concentration.

You also get access to 4th level spells and while this is technically a spell Lulu has: Polymorph! Turn your allies into T-Rexes, turn your enemies into Fish (don’t try to eat the fish or they’ll turn back), and most importantly you can now become an actual cat! Truthfully though there are several great 4th level spells too and I recommend you look at all of them.

LEVEL 12 - WARLOCK 8

Ability Score Improvement but you should have max spellcasting by now which is the only thing that matters so... how about some Feats? I’m not going to choose any one particular Feat and instead focus on some of the better ones for you to take.

Alert - Along with Jack of All Trades this will almost always guarantee that you’re the first to go in initiative, meaning that you can tether to someone and start applying buffs.

Inspiring Leader - Lets you use Bop and Block early and give all your allies a nice health buffer to start the day.

Observant - With your Charisma and your proficiency buffing your Perception score this should guarantee that you don’t miss anything with those feline eyes of yours. Be sure to ping incoming ganks!

Resilient (CON) - You don’t really need the other effects of War Caster in this build and Resilient is just more useful overall.

Spell Sniper - Read this spell over and ask “does this sound useful?” If yes then take it, because you’re in a game with a DM who actually likes using cover mechanics.

Tough - Yuumi isn’t tough; that doesn’t mean you can’t be.

Lucky - When in doubt break out the OP bullshit perk.

You also get another spell: Dimension Door lets you recall back to base or somewhere similar.

LEVEL 13 - WARLOCK 9

At Warlock 9 you get access to another invocation, including your 9th level invocations and... oh oh there it is boys! Ascendant Step! Now you can be a proper hovering kitty cat! (Note if you took Fly at earlier levels it might be a good idea to drop it. Or not: you can still buff your allies!)

You also gain access to 5th level spells and here’s where it gets fun: Bigby’s Hand! Honestly this is just a fun spell but you can also justify most of the effects as being part of Yuumi (and Book)’s magic.

Clenched Fist - A full damage Prowling Projectile against a target.

Forceful Hand - More of a Janna thing but still very useful.

Grasping Hand - Hit your snare with Final Chapter. "I am TOTALLY doing this!"

Interposing Hand - Again more of a Taliyah thing (or perhaps Jarvan) but still very useful!

This would be my immediate pick but other than that for 5th level?

Creation is your other patron-specific spell and it is awesome. A little situational maybe but that’s the nature of Book! Pull out something useful: unfortunately it can’t be fish but still!

Hold Monster is like Hold Person but better. It’s a big spell slot though so be wary.

Synaptic Static is like a combination of Leona and Alistar, which is to say it’s a big nuke from the sky that makes all your enemies do less damage.

Contact Other Plane is not my first pick for a number of reasons but if you don’t know what to pick being able to ask Book for directions can be helpful. And it comes back on a short rest too! :) Just make sure Book doesn’t break your mind. (Maybe invest in the Resilient feat for Intelligence if you plan to use this spell.)

LEVEL 14 - WARLOCK 10

And now we’ve reached the capstone of our Warlock levels and we get two very powerful abilities. Firstly there’s Protective Wish which lets you use your reaction to swap places between you and your tethered target if either of you get hit. Tank hits for your allies... or alternatively don’t do that and have them shield you from baddies trying to spray you! Just make sure that you aren’t teleporting into a more dangerous location and as a word of advice: don’t throw your allies into danger without their consent.

The other ability you get is Genie’s Entertainment which is far more useful. As an action you can make Book pull a target within 90 feet to a harmless dimension where they’ll be stuck for up to a minute. They can make a Charisma saving throw every turn until they either succeed or a minute passes before they’re ejected where they just were or in the closest available space. This is effectively a one-time use of the Banishment spell (which you can take as a Warlock) but it doesn’t require Concentration which means you can put your focus on other useful buffs for your team.

You also get another cantrip so invest in Mage Hand so Book can pick up things you can’t reach with those paws of yours.

LEVEL 15 - BARD 5

And now we’re bouncing back to Bard and finally getting Font of Inspiration. Honestly if you need more use out of Mantle of Inspiration then feel free to get this level earlier, but you already have plenty of short rest value with your Warlock spell slots.

And speaking of spells: 3rd level Bard spells, anyone? I’d argue that Sending would be quite in-flavor, and Hypnotic Pattern would make for a strong utility, even if you don’t have an AoE stun. Honestly I’m going to skip the spell talk and only cover the last few levels of Bard for completion’s sake.

LEVEL 16 - BARD 6

You now get Countercharm which is poo poo garbage and will make you want to die. But to be fair popping cleanse would help your ADC. (But why are you bringing Cleanse and not Exhaust?)

You also get Mantle of Majesty which will let you play the backseat gamer role you’ve always dreamed of being. As a bonus action you can start to command (the spell) anyone you please to do as you say. Approach, Drop, Flee, Halt... awn there’s not Pet command!

LEVEL 17 - BARD 7

At 7th level you get... nothing! :D Okay you get 4th level spells to be fair but I’m far too lazy to talk about spells anymore.

LEVEL 18 - BARD 8

ASI. Check my suggestions for Feats to take from Warlock 8.

LEVEL 19 - BARD 9

Your Song of Rest increases to a d8 now which honestly probably doesn’t help you much at this point. You do get 5th level spells now though, which you can cast through your Warlock slots.

LEVEL 20 - BARD 10

And for our capstone we finally get Magical Secrets! There’s one specific spell we want: Haste. It’s super zoomies! Other than that you can buy Redemption with Aura of Vitality (which kinda works more like Fiora’s ult but w/e) or maybe an Ardent Censor of sorts with Spirit Guardians? You can grab Mikael's Crucible with Warding Bond, or perhaps contract some help from Zillian and grab Death Ward! There are literally dozens of spells to choose from and I recommend searching online if you don’t know what to take.

Your Bardic Inspiration also increases which means more Mantle of Inspiration health, and you get 2 more skills to give Expertise! Honestly at level 20 it’s a little too late to really choose between Expertise but know that any skill you have Expertise in will have a +12 modifier! You’re essentially guaranteed to succeed at any check with a skill you have Expertise on at this level unless your DM is Twisted Fate and is using Loaded Dice on you.

FINAL BUILD

PROS

Cover to Cover - You’ve got a comedic amount of utility between ten cantrips and the ability to cast any ritual spell you can get your paws on. Along with Jack of All Trades and Expertise covering any skills you may need you’ll never be without a cat trick.

You and me, we got this! - Between Bardic Inspiration, Song of Rest, Elemental Resistance, Protective Wish, and a decent array of buff spells (tbh I kinda wish I took more :P) you can be an incredibly useful asset to your teammates.

You look like unscratched furniture! - One place this build particularly excels is in the crowd control department. Between Enthralling Performance, Mantle of Majesty, Genie’s Entertainment, and a huge array of debuffs you’ll never be lacking in a way to keep your allies safe and the enemies away from you.

CONS

Oh! Sunbeam ahead! - While I tried my best to avoid taking too many Concentration spells I have to admit that a lot of the nicer stuff will demand your attention: Hold Person, Haste, Polymorph, Bigby’s Hand, and Mire the Mind (Slow) all require concentration, so you can only have one up at a time. While you still have options the concentration requirement is heavy.

We’ve got 6 left... or was it 5? - If you’re roleplaying the build properly you’ll have absolutely horrendous health. No additional Constitution modifier combined with a d8 hit die means that you’ll have about a hundred health at level 20, and a Power Word Kill is all it’ll take to end you. Additionally your ability modifiers (with the exception of Charisma) are rather low which means low saving throws and a low AC with only Light armor. Know that you can sometimes sacrifice roleplay for the sake of a more viable build - having good skill checks is great and all but it doesn’t matter if you’re dead.

Full AP? - This build is pure support and I skipped on a lot of the strong damage options that you could’ve taken. In particular this is a max Charisma Eldritch Blast Warlock which doesn’t take Agonizing Blast, a concept most would consider an act of treason. A lot of the invocations I picked more for flavor than actual utility and you’re more than welcome to change Mire the Mind or Tomb of Levistus for something more useful.

But you’re not here to steal all the fame: tag along, help your team, and they’ll help you find your master! Just don’t ask the Triton what they taste like or else they’ll give you the spray bottle.

ALTERNATE BUILD OPTIONS

More Warlock Levels?

The only thing we really get out of level 10 Bard is Magical Secrets, but if you’re not interested in getting Haste all you really need for this build is 3 levels in Bard for Mantle of Inspiration (though 5 levels is ideal for Font of Inspiration.)

You can take more levels in Warlock to get Mystic Arcanum, more Warlock slots, and more Eldritch Invocations. You also get Collector’s Call which is a very strong ability that’s sadly held back by its casting requirement. If you’re planning on going heavier on Warlock instead of splitting this build 50 / 50 than get expertise in Persuasion! You’re absolutely going to need it to cast Collector’s Call reliably.

The other important thing to note is that Warlock honestly doesn’t have that many supportive spells in its kit, especially when you’re not playing Divine Soul. Dropping Bard levels means you’ll lose spells like Mass Cure Wounds. You’ll also have far fewer spell slots to cast your lower level Warlock spells, which does mean more 5th level spells but it also means less fun with spells like Misty Step, Dimension Door, and Polymorph.

Mighty Nein Plans

The Mighty Nein always criticize themselves for their failed plans, but based on the info they have at the time, their plans are usually well thought at.

When they tried to rescue Yasha, Fjord, and Jester from whom they thought were just your average slavers, they set up a good ambush that did manage to stop them in their tracks. They did not know what Larrenzo really was and were not prepared for Keg to freeze in fear. That, plus some good rolls on the bad guys side and bad rolls on M9 side, turned the tide against them.

When they heard about the Man in Yellow’s plan to have a meeting in the Dynasty, they scoped out the location, set lookouts, and prepared as best they could. Yes, Jester turning into a moth didn’t turn out as they thought it would (confusing Polymorph and Beast Shape when it comes to Int), but overall, they came close to achieving their goal. They stopped the messenger and even managed to prevent Obann from teleporting away. Fjord’s clutch move of distracting the watchmen was perfect. Obann used the distraction of his “body guard” to get away.

When they chased Obann to the tomb, they did everything they could to stop him from raising the Laughing Hand. Not realizing he was a demon in disguise, they tried some things that didn’t work. Even then, they did manage to defeat Obann, he just was a little faster releasing the Laughing Hand and Yasha failed her WIS save. The big turning point was the Laughing Hand’s laughter causing paralyzing fear.

Collecting the IceFlex, their plan went almost perfect. They created a distraction and got the dragon to breathe on the Mythral. They had set the rope up to pull it away, they just weren’t expecting it to freeze as much as it did. Even then, they managed to get the dragon to follow Beau and Reani while Jester and Nott retrieved the IceFlex, as well as some other items. They then successfully escaped into the TIny Hut and Teleported away.

Going after Obann, the Laughing Hand, and Yasha the second time, they realized they couldn’t overcome them because the clerics were low on spells and the Laughing Hand’s laughter was still a problem, so they decided to try and steal the skull from Obann. Even with the bad luck of crashing through the trees, alerting them to the M9′s presence, the M9 held true to that plan. They considered trying to get ahead of Obann and co., but weren’t able to keep ahead of them. Fjord managing to Charm the Laughing Hand was clutch and put it out of the battle temporarily. Had the cleric’s spells been available, they could have taken Obann and maybe saved Yasha. But knowing their limitations in that area, they stuck with the plan. Had Obann not achieved his goal so quickly, they had a chance at stopping him.

These times when their plans did not work out the way they wanted has led them to believe that they aren’t doing well and has brought self-doubt into the party. It is this self-doubt that is hurting them...they believe that Obann can’t be beaten by them, even though they did manage to send him back to the Abyss their first time out and they are stronger now.

That doesn’t mean that some of their plans don’t end in absolute chaos..the hospital plan and the temple job...but that happens when they split up and try and figure out stuff as smaller groups then as a party. As a full group, they balance out their falacies.

Throne of Night Theory Builds Part 10: The Drama Creating Doppelganger

In August 2015, Gary McBride of Fire Mountain Games released the cover of Book 6 for Throne of Night, and discussed how there’d be a doppelganger that would meet up with the adventuring party and “has a critical part to play in the drama that unfolds beneath in the depths of the earth.” He also made sure to be vague about the gender, so my assumption is that this particular doppelganger has no gender. You’re seeing it more and more lately, and Pathfinder was definitely do its part in taking down the gender walls. I made sure that the stat block today reflects that.

This one’s going to be short and sweet as it’s after 6 am here. Need to at least try and get some semblance of a normal sleep schedule despite fighting off a cold. Fun times.

EDIT: Like other parts I’ve released, I promise to clean up the stats later. For now I’m posting this as-is. Late for an appointment. Still working on things with the laptop and not my desktop, unfortunately.

All that’s mentioned in the update from four years ago is what I put in quotations above and that the doppelganger should be showing up “later” in the AP. It’s fairly vague, but given what you’ll likely have to be doing in Book 4, I’m going to assume that, that’s when you meet this individual.

The build uses a couple of things from Ultimate Intrigue. I’m told it’s OGL, but I’m not 100% on that. I’m not looking to publish this so I’ll likely be fine, but my editor always said that if if you’re unsure then to always release all the info on abilities, etc, just to be safe. That’s what he does for his books. Well, did. We’re done with that now and are going as homebrew as possible.

My idea for this creature is that they are infiltrating the drow city in Book 4. Thought maybe they could lay low and live the comfortable life, but soon realized they bit off more than they could chew and is scrambling to not get caught. Can’t use darkness unfortunately, but can use dancing lights and faerie fire, and that’s likely more than enough. Even managed to find a partially used wand of darkness should the need arise. At least, it is for now. Thankfully a party of dwarves/drow are also infiltrating the city, and this is just the chance that doppelganger has been looking for.

Without further ado, the doppelganger that could make or break the adventure.

Just a couple of notes: I’m pretty sure my Sleight of Hand is correct. I’ll have to double check the math, but it might be off by 2 points. As well, I was short on damage, attack to-hit, and hit points, so I increased the racial HD by +1. Pretty sure this individual is supposed to be an ally/new cohort, so I didn’t want to make them too high for HD or else no one could have them for Leadership purposes. Finally, the name, Iden, is from a name generator that jokingly shortened it from “Identical”, and I liked it enough to keep it.

These effects last as long as the enigma continues to use his hypnotic stare, but if he takes an action that would end invisibility, it ends his hypnotic stare immediately. The enigma can reinstate this effect whenever he wishes, but each time it begins with 1 round of concealment. This ability alters hypnotic stare. Veiled Steps (Ex) An enigma gains a bonus to their Stealth checks equal to 1/4 their mesmerist level (minimum +1). This ability replaces consummate liar.

This is the third time Fjord has used the dodecahedron, and the second time he’s put a fragment of possibility to use.

DMing when PCs are on the ocean involves trying to figure out what interesting things can be found along the journey. Matt made a small chart to roll on to see what might possibly happen. "It’s a lot of not forcing events, necessarily, every single day, because otherwise nobody would ever fucking be on a boat in a fantasy world.” He wants it to be an adventurous, freeing sensation, and he wants it to be a bit of a sandbox for the players. (The map finally arrived!) “It’s allowing enough intrigue and possibility out there where the players can utilize the ship at their disposal, and coming up with interesting encounters that capitalize on the region and capitalize on the limitations of the ship as well.”

Travis has been on (non-sailing) boats most of his life, so he knows the terminology. “But when it comes to fuckin’ pirate ships...” He wrote Fjord’s backstory with “sailor” in it, but didn’t get a chance to research it at all. Matt was so intimidated by the (three) sailing terms Fjord included in his backstory that he’s been intently studying up on nautical stuff ever since. There are graphs behind his DM screen. Matt: “I was just trying to keep up with him!”

But Travis has been doing research since then. He’d just never thought about the fact that he might be the only one who knew how to sail a ship. Matt: “It might not have been a major issue if you guys had booked passage...” Travis: “I should have done a moderate level of research just to be more familiar with it, so it’s causing me now to catch up to the homework that you did. We’ll see how this week goes, being that it’s in front of a live crowd...”

Brian: “This is such a weird metaphor for you guys’ friendship.”

Matt expected Orly was going to be an information source while the group was in Nicodranas. After the M9 stole the ship so unexpectedly, it turned out Orly was the only other person they knew who had the skills they needed. Brian knows it’s a big ask, but he’d love to see amazing cosplay of Orly.

Fjord is definitely wondering whether the sword will react in some way with the water---just touching it in didn’t make a difference, but he’s wondering whether practicing his sword exercises on the ship might’ve had an effect. Travis: “Until now, it’s been a pretty one-sided avenue of communication. I don’t know if there’s any way to *69 that motherfucker.”

The jellyfish bloom was a random encounter Matt rolled on his table: he has assorted natural sights on the list to add atmosphere. “It was an improvised part of the narrative based on a few rolls.” Brian wants to insure Matt’s brain.

For the map that came out last session, Travis got a quick sneak peek at it. “I love reefs, just from scuba diving, so I memorized those. Most of the trade routes didn’t go over reefs, so if we hit one of those, it would be immediately dangerous.” If people’s backgrounds tie into certain areas, Matt e-mails them summaries as needed so that the players can deliver the information and it’s not just a DM info dump.

Caduceus’ super high perception is opening up a lot of interesting stuff for the party; there were a lot of situations that flew under the radar before, and Matt’s looking forward to finding more moments like that. “You want to reward a player for their strengths.”

Matt mentions that, in all the games he’s played with Taliesin, he’s always played very high-intelligence characters. He’s fascinated to see him play a low-INT high-WIS character with Caduceus.

Travis: “I don’t typically like to give people orders? Fjord was a first mate on the ship, that’s as high as he rose. In my mind, those were people that he had worked with for years. He was receiving orders and then dispersing them, not coming up with the ideas himself. For me, as a player, I enjoyed the luxury of an idiot for the first campaign, because I got to be reactionary. It is an entirely, entirely different thing, and it’s been kind of weird, being responsible for everybody, having to make quick decisions when no one else has any input.” He found himself looking for the bench in the last couple episodes.

On the clusterfuck at the docks, Travis: “I had gone far below zero hit points in player.” He was so off-balance and nothing seemed to be working. “You can’t always bench yourself. You gotta keep fuckin’ playing.” Matt points out that it’s common to have an off session: “The fact that you’ve finally had a couple is reassuring to the rest of us mortals in your presence.” It’s tough to be the character who has such a major impact on the course of events, and Travis has been learning how to deal with that pressure (after being able to just shrug it off as Grog) and make sure it doesn’t happen again. Travis: “I had a totally different idea of what my participation in the group would be.” He wasn’t expecting to be the face of the group.

Matt mentions that there are sessions where the group has had fun but he goes home “feeling like shit” over some series of mistakes (which often gets reinforced online), but he emphasizes that it’s totally okay to have off nights, and that it’s important to talk it out with players or other DM friends if you’re still feeling upset about it.

Fanart of the Week: Nott and Caduceus having their bonding moment at sea.

Matt: “There was a whole bunch of shit in Nicodranas you could have explored.” Travis: “I love how he gave us a fuckin’ wizard tower.” Matt pointed out that Algar had an employee who ran off during their first attack. “There’s a lot of adventure in Nicodranas still when you return.” Matt points out that sometimes the story you have prepared isn’t as exciting as what the players stumble into on their own. The ramifications when they come back could be a lot of fun, as well.

Travis on the pressure he’s under for this arc: “The rest of the group is fuckin’ loving it, like a bunch of assholes. They are eating up my panic with spoons and forks.” Matt points out that the tables have turned after the first campaign.

Fjord’s whole backstory was based on trying to disappear; he was just glad to have a role that didn’t require a spotlight. “He just wanted to live a life and have a role and have an existence.” He feels like his unique looks and abilities fit in with the M9, but being put in charge of that, especially in the wake of the massive confidence shake that came with the Lorenzo kidnapping and Molly’s death, he’s still reeling. It’s only been a few weeks since Lorenzo.

It’s been especially terrifying to realize this Fjord-centric arc is going to be such a big part of the New York live show. Travis: “I was so crestfallen. That was the moment I was like, ‘Fuck.’” Matt, happily: “It’s going to be fun.” Travis, strained and yelling: “IT’S GOING TO BE GREAT.”

Jester’s mom hadn’t heard the rumors of a blue tiefling dying at the docks, so fortunately that information hadn’t gotten to her before Jester sent her message. Matt breaks down the bizarre mystery the guards are dealing with right now: it could have had much, much more serious consequences. “They’re not completely fucked. There’s just some threads of fuckery out there.” Avoiding the patrol ships and being able to disguise themselves has been key. Matt points out that a lot of the Nein have had really skittish, mistrustful backgrounds; over time, they might be more likely to try to interface with the guards in a scenario like that, but they’re not there yet.

Travis on the jellyfish conversation: “I was kind of in awe of my wife at that moment. Her emotional availability is second to none. And then to take that beautiful moment and be so introspective about that character. I was trying to ask her questions, and then she pointed it dead on at me. I was like, oh god, I don’t know. I was trying to be sensitive and do something that would make her feel better, but man, it left both of us---Fjord and me---shook. I interpreted it one way. There had been gentle teasings. But man, when the emotions are real...”

Matt’s been finding it interesting that Fjord and Caleb have been taking on leadership roles in a non-competitive, please-take-this way, and he’s excited to see how the roles are distributed moving forward. “I fuckin’ love D&D. Oh my god.”

Matt points out that the M9 is a different kind of found family than VM. “All of Vox Machina seemed pretty confident of who they were and what they wanted to be in the world. This group is very different; they’re these lost souls who, through their connections to each other, are trying to find a purpose and keep each other safe.” He likes the natural pace of that development and is happy that themes of change and redemption are so prominent in their character arcs. “As the kids on the internet say, ‘I’m here for it.’”

Travis: “I had to ask Liam this week what ‘stan’ meant. I thought they left the ‘d’ off it.”

Hats appear.

Talks Machina: Is It the Same Channel?

Brian, on the perfect burrito: “Skittles. Starburst bites. Jujubes. Wrapped in a fruit roll-up.” That is a little too close to my actual dinner tonight and I may have to reevaluate some of my life choices.

Their favorite thing about the live show is the energy. Matt: “It’s one thing to be playing together as friends, but once every now and then, being able to share it live there with so many people who are as excited as we are to be there. Of all the years I’ve done theatre and that high I’ve had on stage, this is even better for me.” Much as the heart of the show is its intimate nature, they love having the live show as a change of pace a couple of times a year. Matt points out that the weirdness of live D&D is that the audience there is as knowledgeable and invested. “It’s not like there’s a barrier and you’re here to entertain, you’re all just here in this moment.”

Travis mentions that alignment’s been more important at the start of the game when they’ve been trying to establish their character, just to keep from veering off into random stabs at action. Matt: “I think alignment’s a great guide if you’re unfamiliar with the process of realizing a personality that’s different from yours and stepping into their shoes. I prefer to think that characters’ actions drive alignment, rather than alignment driving characters’ actions. I don’t feel like you should use alignment as a way of excluding yourselves from making those choices that otherwise a character would never make.”

Matt: “Don’t google ‘burrito train’.”

It takes like ten minutes to Brian’s nipple rings.

Living W/ Immortality: Episode 2: The Return Of The Madness

CUT TO:

NEXT DAY. MORNING

FINN is walking to school.

LUCIAN/ NARRATOR (V.O)

And we’re in act 2 of our story. Now… where were we? Ah! Our dual-faced soon to be dumbass was frightened by his first experiences of pain, idiot. He is yet to meet his dark old fool of a mentor and the other two immortals morons.

The song “Vertigo” by Raphael Lake. FINN is silent while walking to school.

ERIN (V.O)

Are you okay? It’s alright if you’re not.

FINN is still silent and doesn’t respond.

ERIN (V.O) (cont’d)

Finn, say something.

FINN

WHAT THE HELL DO YOU WANT ME TO SAY?!

(He screams loudly and breathes heavy in anger)

ERIN (V.O)

Calm down, it’s okay.

FINN

It’s not okay! Everything, that happened yesterday. Being stabbed and cutting my own hand, feeling pain for the first time. It was freighting, I never expected this to ever happen in my cursed life and look what happened! Something normal happened.

ERIN is silent now.

FINN (cont’d)

I’m sorry.

ERIN (V.O)

It’s okay. We can figure this out later.

FINN

Thank you.

Without noticing, a STRANGER follows FINN. He brandishes an article of full black clothing with a black trench coat. FINN stops in his tracks for a bit and gets serious in the moment. FINN pauses the music. Stop the music at, “Why’d it end so soon.”

FINN

You see him too right?

ERIN (V.O)

Yup.

FINN

Random stranger, a black trench coat. Kidnapper, you think?

ERIN (V.O)

Most likely, it’s obvious because that entire outfit spells out “You want some candy?”

FINN plays the music again at Verse 2 and continues his walk while ERIN keeps an eye on the STRANGER. FINN keeps walking till the end of Verse 2. The situation gets tense when the STRANGER suddenly appears right next to both of them.

STRANGER (ACHERON)

Hello.

Chorus of the song plays. FINN out of sheer panic gives the STRANGER a couple punches to the gut and face. He then makes a run for it, running past random people in the streets. He turns around to find the STRANGER looking back at him. ERIN takes over suddenly. He runs at the STRANGER about to attack.

FINN (V.O)

Erin stop!

The STRANGER attempts to grab him by the arm but ERIN manages to throw more punches at his gut releasing him from his grip. The song stops once FINN’S body suddenly stops moving and hits the ground.

INT. FINN’S MIND.

FINN pulls back ERIN and both end up in an empty space of darkness. With a light looking above them in a circle.

ERIN

What the hell?!

FINN

We can’t fight him! We don’t know what he’s capable of!

ERIN

Screw being cautious! I’m tired of you wanting the peaceful way.

With the two of them arguing, Neither FINN or ERIN was in control. FINN realizes this at the last second, the STRANGER is seen kneeling down in front of them.

STRANGER (ACHERON)

We need to talk.

He reaches his hand onto FINN’S shoulder. They both teleport to a different location and are sitting on a bench.

STRANGER (ACHERON)

Take your time kiddo. It’s not like I have nowhere to be.

FINN looks at ERIN and he nods in responses. FINN walks into the path of light showing the outside images. He awakens and back into his body. He holds a fighting stance and the STRANGER doesn’t react. He simply motions him to sit.

FINN

For a kidnapper, I expected to be in a dark room or a van or drugged.

STRANGER (ACHERON)

Sorry for not living up to your expectations… But to clarify, I am no danger to you or the person I can see floating about in your brain. I’m only here as a counselor.

FINN

A counselor?

STRANGER (ACHERON)

Yup and I know you and the other one are immortal.

FINN & ERIN were stunned by the statement.

STRANGER (ACHERON)

I’ve met my fair share of immortals and you both are one of the youngest ones. It’s my job, as a counselor to immortals, eternals, whatever you damn please call yourself.

FINN

There are others like us?

STRANGER (ACHERON)

Oh, yes, many immortals, but recently the Big Man Upstairs decided only three immortals can roam the Earth.

FINN

Just who are you?

STRANGER (ACHERON)

You’ll both figure that out one day. Just call me Acheron.

FINN

Alright, Acheron. Why are you here?

ACHERON

Well, like I said I am a counselor. I’m also here lawfully bound to inform you both of the rules of your immortality given by the Man Upstairs.

FINN

Is there a field trip?

ACHERON

Yes, there is. You’ll learn how your immortality works and you will meet the other two.

FINN

Oh… cool, love a good field trip. I just have a question?

ACHERON

What’s your question?

FINN

Is there a way to take away my immortality?

ACHERON

That’s an interesting question… I have no clue.

FINN WHAT?!

ACHERON

Kid, I’m a primordial being with the main job. This is part-time gig and immortals are born whenever which literally takes years or you and the other two die.

FINN

Jeez, sassy much?

ACHERON

Again, primordial being, watching every being in the universe is a difficult job.

FINN

Oh dang, sorry, it’s just that my powers had gone crazy the other day and I’m curious if there was anything that could affect it.

ACHERON

All your questions will be answered on the field trip to Fortune Valley, meet in Chinatown.

FINN nods as a response.

FINN

Fortune Valley?

ACHERON

There are places in this world, humans without magic or without creature status can’t see. This one is in Chinatown.

FINN

Crap, that’s far from home.

ACHERON

If anybody’s got information, it’ll be the Knowledge Dweller who we’ll meet.

(He looks at his watch)

I have to go, my main job is calling. I’ll meet with you at Fortune Valley, once you get there whenever. I’ll keep my eye on you.

ACHERON gets up from the bench and walks away.

FINN

Wait!

He says as he gets up from the bench. Stopping ACHERON and looking toward FINN.

FINN (cont’d)

Can you bring me back to school? Ya took me to Waipahu and the last time I was here I ran into a group of kids who for some reason had a pink scooter, a shopping cart, a chicken and a red balloon.

ACHERON looked at him with a face that was about to say, “What The Fuck?” He snaps his fingers and they instantly teleport back to Campbell High.

FINN

Thank you.

ACHERON

Oh, forgot to mention.

FINN turns around and ACHERON throws a blue jewel attached to it, and FINN catches it.

ACHERON

Protection charm. Should keep your immortal scent hidden away. I really have to go… I’ll see you both around.

He disappears into a cloud of smoke and FINN looks at the charm in his hand.

ERIN (V.O)

Was it just me… or did he say hidden?

FINN

Yeah, he said hidden…

ERIN (V.O)

You think we can trust him?

FINN

Probably, but the field trip means information and that info could actually help us understand all of this.

FINN closes his hand and walks toward school.

CUT TO:

CHINATOWN AT NIGHT.

Night has fallen and FINN had snuck away from home. His headphones are in and playing the song, “Sorcererz” by Gorillaz. He takes a bus to Chinatown. Shows a montage of him on the bus, bobbing his head, moving from seat to seat, sleeping. He ends up at Chinatown’s East Gate, where two Guardian Lions had stood.

FINN

Well, here we are.

ERIN (V.O)

Alright, let’s hope Acheron shows up before we get robbed.

FINN

Right…

He notices two other people nearby, a boy and a girl. It was ATHENA & TAVEN. FINN attempts to hide but they both notice him and confront him. Sorcererz stops playing

TAVEN

Finn? Is that you?

FINN

(awkwardly)

Hey, Taven, Athena…

Song stops and FINN takes off his headphones placing them around his neck.

ATHENA

What are you doing here?

FINN is nervous and doesn’t know what to tell them. Not wanting to reveal his secret of his everlasting life. He struggles to make an excuse but blurts out a random word.

FINN

Drugs?

ACHERON shows up in that puff of smoke frightening everyone in company.

ACHERON

Ah, you’re all here.

FINN becomes shocked at the fact that his friends are actually the other two immortals in the world. ACHERON moves past him and whispers some strange chant. A portal opens revealing a world different from their own. Red skies were floating in the air and they had entered a place full of exotic creatures. The three kids looked both amazed at what they see before them.

ACHERON

Welcome to Fortune Valley. Lovely place. Now, let’s find the Knowledge Dweller.

FINN/ERIN, ATHENA, & TAVEN follow ACHERON into Fortune Valley. As they walked through the magical town, they passed by different creatures alike.

RANDOM KAPPA

Cucumbers for sale! Freshly stolen from the local farmers!

RANDOM KAUPE

Fresh human organs for sale! Just lured away and ripped apart fresh!

ACHERON leads the three young immortals to what looks like a library.

ACHERON

We’re here.

The enter the library and find a simple mid 50s Chinese old man near a desk.

ACHERON

Wan Shi Tong, hello old friend.

WAN SHI TONG

Acheron… I’m guessing you’re here with the newborns?

WAN SHI TONG looks at ATHENA, FINN, & TAVEN.

WAN SHI TONG

Interesting, one flourishes in life and this wanders through death. But the two in the middle, they walk in time both light and dark. Fascinating… you know what to do.

ACHERON

Understood. Come on kids, time to learn the rules.

ACHERON leads the three to a room, with a table and a few seats and a mirror in the back.

ACHERON

I have some business to attend to. You three know what to do.

He disappears in his cloud of smoke and the three look at the book.

FINN

Well, let’s do this.

TAVEN

Did Wan Shi Tong know about our powers?

TAVEN looks toward ATHENA

ATHENA

Acheron says he’s a Knowledge Dweller, whatever that is. He must know many immortals that have our powers.

FINN steps into the conversation.

FINN

You guys have other powers too?

ATHENA

I’m able to control plant life.

TAVEN

I can change into a ghost. What powers do you have?

FINN

Accelerated probability, semi-telepathy, enhanced condition. I haven’t even developed any time powers.

ATHENA

What did he mean by the two? When he looked at you.

FINN sighs and closes his eyes. He takes a deep breath and lets ERIN take over. His full physical features manifest.

ERIN

Hi, my name is Erin Nitty. The split personality of Finn. His immortal powers affected me somehow and well I became sentient and we’ve been like this since we were kids.

ERIN retreats back into the mind of FINN and takes over again.

FINN

So yeah…

ATHENA

So the times, you’ve been talking to yourself? That was Erin?

FINN

Yup.

TAVEN

Why didn’t you tell us?

FINN

People would think I’m crazy. Which I technically am, the fact that I have a Hulk in my brain… Can we just move on?

The three read the book, and each learns the rules of their own immortality.

TAVEN

Reliant immortality, their existence tied to an object, soul fragments, or even a person or concepts. So long as these things exist, the user can never die.

ATHENA

Multiple Lives, the user is able to become back to life after being killed or fatally wounded, giving them multiple chances to live. WARNING. User may be limited to a certain number of lives, be cautious.

FINN

Immortality… healing factor. Blah blah blah, know all this. If advanced enough, the ability will cause the body… granting immortality. Turn the page to find out the different levels.

FINN turns the pages.

FINN

Level 1… no. 2? No. 3… fuck no.

TAVEN

Finn? Read Level 7.

FINN reads the paragraph.

FINN

Level 7: Meta Regeneration. The user can heal from anything completely, even if there is absolutely nothing remaining of the body… No. No. No. No No! Why? Really?!

FINN looks at the paragraph in disbelief.

ATHENA

Are you okay?

FINN starts to freak out over this fact.

FINN

I literally can’t die. Even if there’s nothing left. I can heal from a metaphysical level of existence and think my injuries were all just a dream.

TAVEN

You want to sit down bud?

ATHENA

Yeah, you should sit down.

FINN does so and keeps his head down. With FINN’S face down on the table, he mumbles an unintelligent noise.

FINN

I have immortality figured out, I just haven’t figured out my emotions.

TAVEN

Well, maybe there are limitations too. There’s always a way around something, we can find out right now.

TAVEN grabs the book and looks up the weaknesses of FINN’S powers. FINN drags his head on the table and chair to their side of the table to hear the possible weaknesses.

TAVEN

Alright, Divinity… Emotional Spectrum & Self Judgement. An immortal with a specific type of healing can be weak to the Emotional Spectrum. Embodiments of specific Emotions. For example, Love.

FINN’S head raises up after hearing the word.

TAVEN

Falling in love with a non-immortal can result in a fluctuation of their ability, and possibly loss of immortality.

FINN

Serena…

He says under his breath. ATHENA seemed to hear him.

ATHENA

You love her, don’t you?

FINN looks at ATHENA, he simply nods and looks his head down in shame.

ATHENA Hey, don’t feel ashamed. There’s nothing wrong with loving someone. Especially Serena, she a great girl.

FINN

She makes me feel normal. Like my immortality never existed. I feel genuinely happy whenever I’m around her or when we hang out. She makes me feel mortal. And thank you.

NARRATOR (V.O)

Aw, that’s touching. An immortal boy falling for a mortal girl. Now entrance music!

All three of them here the voice talking, looking around to find the source. The song, “Return Of The Mack” by Mack Morrison plays all of a sudden. Shouting is heard from the main room. The three immortals investigate and see WAN SHI TONG being confronted by a gang of mythical creatures.

NARRATOR (V.O)

And so meanwhile our three immortal soon to be heroes are now listening to this new conversation of a turtle, a fox and an owl disguised as an old man.

RANDOM KAPPA

Where are they old man? The three immortals that walked through the valley.

WAN SHI TONG

I have no idea what you’re talking about.

RANDOM KITSUNE

You can’t hide them forever. He’s looking for them you know?

WAN SHI TONG looked at the KITSUNE with grave concern. He realizes who the two creatures were referring too.

WAN SHI TONG (cont’d)

Lucian.

LUCIAN (V.O)

Yes, old man me.

LUCIAN had appeared suddenly, dancing to the beat of the song. While also mumbling the words.

LUCIAN

Return of the mack… Return of the mack… don’t ya know. Return of the mack… here I go.

He was this average man glowing blue. His face was cracking like a porcelain mask. One eye was glowing while the cracked side showed darkness. He held his arms out as the song continued to play toward WAN SHI TONG.

LUCIAN (cont’d)

Wan Shi Tong, one of the last great Knowledge Dwellers of the Pantheon of Wisdom. You haven’t aged a day, old man. But anyway, let’s get on with what I’m after, I know that they’re here.

He snaps his fingers and the music stops.

WAN SHI TONG

You shouldn’t be here. Let me rephrase that. You should’ve been destroyed, your existence is a rule broken by the laws of Him.

LUCIAN

Aw. That hurts my heart you know.

He says sarcastically.

WAN SHI TONG

Your heart’s nothing but dust and sand.

LUCIAN laughs.

LUCIAN

Where are they? I just want them to join me on my crusade of creating a better world between us and them. If not, I can still take away their immortal lives and extend mines for another 300 hundred years. Like I did the last two… thousand? I usually forget that.

WAN SHI TONG

Even if I knew you know I wouldn’t say a word.

LUCIAN

Oh, old man, that wouldn’t be any fun. Although a little blood and death didn’t hurt anybody.

WAN SHI TONG is silent.

LUCIAN/NARRATOR (V.O)

The great wise man was effortlessly fierce in protecting the newborns. Yet it was impending that I knew where they were. As they weren’t ready for the grand acts of heroism just yet. That was a finesse, that dear old Acheron didn’t bother to teach them!

WAN SHI TONG

Who are you talking to?!

LUCIAN

As of right now… a bunch of college students trying their best to voice the characters of this act. A professor who thinks how horrible this shit show is. And the one student who created this story, who has no idea what he’s writing at this point.

WAN SHI TONG

You still think you control this story, don’t you?

LUCIAN Haven’t seen any evidence to the contrary old friend.

He points to the door where FINN, TAVEN,& ATHENA were hiding behind

LUCIAN (cont’d)

Now, if you will excuse me I have to meet the newborns.

He walks toward the room. WAN SHI TONG now intensely worried, he transforms into a giant owl and dragonish hybrid. He creates this windstorm sending LUCIAN and his two hench-creatures away. He transforms back into his human form and rushes toward the door. He opens it, finding them behind the door instantly.

WAN SHI TONG

You have to go. All of you. He’ll kill you. There’s a mirror portal in the room that will take you back to the mortal world. Now there’s no time for arguing. Go!

ATHENA, FINN, & TAVEN run back into the room and find the mirror. TAVEN goes first, touching the mirror and instantly is grabbed and thrown in. FINN hold ATHENA’S hand and both jump through. They both land on the ground outside of the entrance to Fortune Valley next to TAVEN. They all groan in pain from the fall. FINN gets up first and picks up ATHENA then TAVEN.

FINN

Who the hell was that?!

ATHENA

Acheron never mentioned him.

ERIN switches in.

ERIN

Yeah, no shit Athena!

ACHERON appears before them, which then ERIN proceeds to grab him by his coat collar.

ERIN

WHAT THE HELL?! We almost died when you left!

ACHERON

I’m aware…

ERIN raises a fist quickly but TAVEN & ATHENA try to hold him back as best as they could.

TAVEN

Erin stop!

ACHERON grabs all of them and they disappear in a puff of smoke. Reappear on the hill with the benches,

ACHERON

It was him, wasn’t it?

TAVEN

(intensely worried)

You said there can only be three immortals on Earth. Why does he exist then?!

ACHERON

He was the first immortal. Guardian of peace between the two worlds. Years of endless living drove him insane.

ATHENA

Wan Shi Tong mentioned he started wars?

ACHERON

The Chronicle Wars, old and long forgotten wars between humans and mystics.

ERIN

Then why us?! Three kids who had no goddamn reason to do with any of this!

He screams at ACHERON.

ACHERON

Other immortals tried to stop him. He’s killed many and taken there lives and immortality. Only three were left, they stopped him. Imprisoned him, by suspending him in time.

ATHENA

Who were the last three?

ACHERON

(He is silent for a bit)

Life, Time, and Death.

ERIN

Which one are you?

ACHERON is silent.

ACHERON

Do you all really want to know that?

They are silent.

ACHERON (cont’d)

This is what I am called. I am called Azrael, Thanatos, Mors, and Four. I am La Calavera. I am also called Samael, and Shinigami. I am Keres and The Dullahan. I am Grim Reaper, Dark Angel, Pale Horsemen. I have as many names as there are winds. As many titles as there are ways to die. My parents are Erebus and Nyx, Darkness and Night! My siblings are Dream and Vengeance! My horse is the ashen! I am Death!

He snaps his fingers and the three of them disappear in clouds of smoke. FINN is outside of his home and sneaks back into his room. He sits on his bed and contemplates his entire situation.

this has been in production for MONTHS and i am here to deliver for mutuals and non - mutuals alike , this is FREE TO JOIN FOR ALL . i will be doing this fortnightly or monthly ( depending on my schedule ) with at least 5 BLOGS reviewed for however way they will take my perspective to improve and grow for the better. feel free to take it or leave it.

THE RATING WORKS ON THE RANGE OF 5 / 5: with 1 as has so much room for potential and improvement , 3 as passable and your blog works as functionally and practically as it should , and 5 as with flying colors that your blog works but with good extras. READ FULL CRITERIA DESCRIPTION HERE.

01. @msscre . fandomless oc by pax.

ACCESSIBILITY / NAVIGABILITY. ★★★★★ With this kind of theme having maximum number of 4 links , I like how the first thing your blog immediately showed me is the links because the boxes and font color just pops out. You did what you can with limited url slots and the navigation page for everything makes it easier for everyone to browse through since they’re all redirected pages. ➤ GENERAL ADVICE FOR EVERYONE : In my opinion , it’s better to have a good balance and choice of usage between redirected pages and custom pages. Too much use of custom pages for the aesthetic can be annoying for a potential partner browsing your blog because most people just want to read your content and not to be kept redirected to different pages , especially if they’re incoherent with no uniform choice of design. Worst combo to send your potential partners away since they can also feel lazy not to read your content. Yes , people do that and it’s not their fault since the human brain has limited attention span. Too much redirected pages works if you want simple , straightforward navigation but it wouldn’t hurt to add a little flair sometimes. This flair can be from the custom page and redirected page mix usage or from how your content is formatted too.

VISUAL IMPACT / AESTHETICS. ★★★★ Absolutely love the consistency in your theme color palette ! Neutrals and red as highlights is a good duo. Everyone is entitled to their own tastes of their representation and interpretation of their muses , though might I suggest that the color of your highlights be a little lighter ? The theme and fonts are neutrals and dark , so it will help the eyes adjust and find the emphasised content you’re aiming to be read if your highlights are light or medium light so not to deviate with the theme’s aesthetic. However , I don’t feel your font for the header though ... seems a bit off for me but it’s just a difference between preferences , no biggie. ➤ GENERAL ADVICE FOR EVERYONE : It’s always good to have a good choice of what font goes with what. In my case I use a lot of font sizes and properties to complement the theme with the format or the actual font used. Usually I do cursive and straight combination , not one over other overpowering each other. Google Fonts with html codes and stuff is your best friend.

SUBSTANCE / INFORMATIVE. ★★★★ Good info on the biography and verses since they have whatever pumps the blog alive. I don’t know if it’s in your intentions but a PERSONALITY section is good too in supporting your psychological evaluation stats page since mostly , numbers don’t really make sense to humans. They’re more of the qualitative type , makes it easier for them to understand if you link those numbers to words of brief description of your muse’s behavior and attitude. This is especially crucial for OCs to have as one of my preferences so I’ll know if our muses can clash for fun or just clash without sense ... you can gauge what an interaction can be just by reading the other’s personality section and see how it helps with the plotting and relationship dynamic.

READABILITY / LEGIBILITY. ★★★★ The colour of the highlights is what I’ve said earlier but overall , the font colors are good since I can read them.

BRANDING / WOW FACTOR. ★★★★★ The mysteriousness with the PERSONALITY section gone can be a pro and con sometimes and since I read your about page , there’s suspense in how you came up with her name because it’s really thought - evoking. I associate your muse with a greek figure and it gives me something to think about especially as it can help me pinpoint a plot for us , if ever. I also appreciate the stats page like they’re very unique with some stats I’ve never seen before so it makes up for the substance as well. There’s visual - spatial intelligence , etc. which makes your muse unique due to that analysis. Little details matter.

02. @jollynephilim . supernatural’s jack kline by dipper.

ACCESSIBILITY / NAVIGABILITY. ★★★★ Might enhance a bit with positioning since some of the links are scattered on top of the side header WHO IS IN CONTROL which makes it hard for me to ignore in a visual - wise focus. You can also experiment by using other symbols or images since the links are eye - catching due to animation.

VISUAL IMPACT / AESTHETICS. ★★★ I’ve been very familiar with this kind of theme since I am guilty of being tempted to use the same , although this one has become mainstream so I am very used to seeing the same formula over and over again. Something new might be good or an innovation of the original theme though it doesn’t mean you should sell your soul to photoshop or html masters. The background edit is well - appreciated since it blends with the dark color palette you chose. You can make your theme a little bit refined with the bars by changing their gray rose ( ?? ) background to something continuous since the way I view it on my browser , I can see where the background picture of the bars started and ended. ➤ GENERAL ADVICE FOR EVERYONE : Being continuous and blending are two elements useful in visually enhancing one’s blog. It shows unity and consistency. Be careful in integrating too much of the links or headers in the background because it can get to the point that it’s annoying to find or read through bleeding colours of the theme and other factors.

SUBSTANCE / INFORMATIVE. ★★★ Love the profile , brief and concise. Can do something more with adding a few rare info that will make your Jack stand out from others ... Nevertheless , I like how informed I am with the BACKGROUND since for someone who hadn’t caught up with Supernatural , it works.

READABILITY / LEGIBILITY. ★★★★★ Readable. However the highlight color concerns me since it doesn’t complement the background color palette because the blue sticks out , but other than that , it works.

BRANDING / WOW FACTOR. ★★★ Add a bit more on the info and finding a selling point on a BRAND that will classify your Jack as their own. Like putting out something new that will make your muse distinguishable from other duplicates. Additionally , I’ve seen your threads or opens and they are very intriguing since they give rise to questionable exploration of sensitive topics , which is good since it’s a different approach to Jack’s character.

03. @kidhnter . supernatural’s claire novak by heather.

ACCESSIBILITY / NAVIGABILITY. ★★★★ Everything is accessible except the ask box. Hopefully you can fix the codes for that.

VISUAL IMPACT / AESTHETICS. ★★★★ I’ve been guilty in trying the same formula in themes , but you get a star instead of three for bonus in using a complementary color palette. However it gives me the signal that it’s playing too safe so you might like to consider using dark or light shades of one font color if one color is your drift. The black starry header sticks out for me , and you can edit it to even or level out the gradient since it seems cut off in the middle in my view. Being continuous and consist are qualities in keeping an aesthetic alive.

SUBSTANCE / INFORMATIVE. ★★★ Fun facts or trivias are really appreciated since I use the same formula depending on which muse I have , so I really like that cute bit. But I can’t give an overall review since your page is still incomplete which is totally understandable. ➤ GENERAL ADVICE FOR EVERYONE : One of my biggest pet peeves that turn me off is when people have blogs but don’t have much in their pages. I understand that they haven’t found the time to complete them because real life comes first , but at least give me a little information especially if I don’t know your muse and I’m not too interested to look them up in my search bar , sorry. I’d rather read someone’s writing that’s not copy pasted from wikia than actually reading on wikia because it gives me an insight on how this person writes. Do they focus on content and details ? Do they write in purple prose or straightforward ? Things like that are analysed whenever I read someone’s about pages. Usually before I release a blog out in the wild , I complete my pages as soon as possible with deliberate planning because I don’t want to advertise an EMPTY blog.

READABILITY / LEGIBILITY. ★★★★★ Very readable since everything is organised and categorised through the theme’s menu and aesthetic appeal plus function.

BRANDING / WOW FACTOR. ★★★★★ Gold and black makes a statement , take advantage of that color scheme and remember the starry background of your bars. I love the BIKER BARBIE bit because it has its charismatic appeal and different format on how usually people do that. BIKER BARBIE brand is iconic for claire and I can see where you’re coming from , but from an analytic perspective , it’s also a clash of character for claire but harmoniously it works out. Good job , makes it easy for me and very distinguishable to remember your brand that makes me think that Ah , this is the BIKER BARBIE claire.

04. @crackedfaith . supernatural’s castiel by vix.

ACCESSIBILITY / NAVIGABILITY. ★★★★★ Very thought out due to the number of links and the flow of the story of your blog through the order of the links. ➤ GENERAL ADVICE FOR EVERYONE : Content is not the only thing you should plan writing for. The moment you have the blog is the same moment you’ve already started writing your interpretation which is seen in the way you presented your blog through graphic edits , links , pages , etc. Content is not the only thing that tells your character’s story , your blog does too and that’s why it’s important to pay attention to details.

VISUAL IMPACT / AESTHETICS. ★★★★ This theme sure as hell takes your time coding so I really appreciate and love how you made it your own. I feel , because I used the same theme in different occasion and it’s a pain to code but totally worth it. I love the colours very much ... They give an outer - worldly vibe but at the same time , very much Castiel. ➤ GENERAL ADVICE FOR EVERYONE : Visual impact and aesthetics may affect your branding and people’s impression of you and your muse , but it does not define you. Always remember that. It does give identity though so like I said , pay attention to even the tiniest details because you never know who reads your blog. Visual impact and aesthetics also affect readability levels , take note of that one since overly coded and overly aesthetic blogs can repel writers who can’t read shit due to lots of glitters on the blog and all other many stuff going on that they can’t understand.

SUBSTANCE / INFORMATIVE. ★★★ Since you haven’t completed your about and verses pages , I cannot say it works but I appreciate that the guidelines are already set. Very , very critical piece to put in the blog because it is what dictates if you will write or will you not write with others.

READABILITY / LEGIBILITY. ★★★ Don’t know if you can change the font but as much as if you can , do it. The main chubby font works on the container but it doesn’t work on the sidebar. I had to squint my eyes to make out the words because of the heavily color gray. Try using lighter shades for font color and other styles as well. Google Fonts is your best friend.

BRANDING / WOW FACTOR. ★★★★★ Very iconic. GRACE/LESS tagline is such a catch for me , it’s really great. The background also has an impact on me because it reminds me of the cosmos , of the time of The Fall scene , and I love how you incorporated the sense of falling in your graphics.

05. @sanguinebite . van helsing’s verona by demi.

ACCESSIBILITY / NAVIGABILITY. ★★★★★ On the side and easily seen. Clean cut , just pops out next to sidebar.

VISUAL IMPACT / AESTHETICS. ★★★★ Can do a bit more with the font used on the sidebar and its format. I love Times New Roman and its use in this theme. Maybe try experimenting with shades of black and gray and consider giving other colors a chance for highlights so people can see what you’re emphasising through bold , italic properties. Other than that , overall theme is a choice that works. The cursor is cute and the edit on the sidebar photo looks cool , so extra points for those two.

SUBSTANCE / INFORMATIVE. ★★ Kind of empty , but the rules are established so that’s appreciated. It helps that I know your muse but what if other people don’t know ? I suggest doing a temporary info scribbles on the pages or just a simple TBA / WIP.

READABILITY / LEGIBILITY. ★★★★ Readable , I don’t have to squint so much so that’s a good thing. It depends on the device used about the font size , but try making the font size a bit bigger for the body since it’s too small for me.

BRANDING / WOW FACTOR. ★★★ Older than Rome itself holds great potential to immortality vibes of branding material , it’s a good tagline I like. Maybe you can link your muse to a roman figure and create a brand from there. Qualities also help you think about a good brand as well as your muse’s history. Who or what reminds you of your muse ? What can you take from there and make it your own ?

it’s honestly kinda painful seeing how much the fandom struggles with reconciling what they are being spoon-fed by bang pd and the marketing/promotional strategy and what is actually happening

like i get why everyone is screaming NO ENGLISH! THEY DON’T NEED IT! NO AMERICAN DEBUT! THEY SAID THEY WOULDN’T DO IT! THEY ARE STAYING TRUE TO THEIR ROOTS! THEY ARE KOREAN, KOREANS IN KOREA SINGING KOREAN!

it’s because that’s what the boys have been using as their media play in korea to score korean media points, but i feel it kinda backfires in this case and makes it difficult for international fans since that info reaches them too, because either they accept that they are being played and lied to in general or they just try and remain in denial

i was satisfied with just rolling my eyes, but this interview with bang pd that came out today.. where he is just? wtf? why is it like this? i gotta complain adkjsd

maybe at the start, but now it’s a lie. you released mic drop with added english lyrics and with a feature by an american artist, you promoted it extensively in america, you make your goals about billboard, you used as many foreign producers as you could find for the last album (and it sounded very america friendly too, lbr here), how is that not targeting the overseas market at this point?

are we gonna still pretend that those late night appearances were all accidental and invites? the gramophone rep said he’d been actively TRYING to book jimmy kimmel for a year, he spoke about how much work it had been to get them those appearances, except for james cordon, at this point this statement is a lie... unless bang pd doesn’t know what the pr company HE HIRED does for his band lol

you signed a contract with an american pr company for promos and also with an american label for distribution, though?

you made the members sing in english in a single release that was targetted at the us, though?

you had late night show appearances and promoted the single extensively in america (with spotify billboards and ads everywhere?)

how is that any different from how other k-pop artists tried to debut in america? it’s just like what wonder girls and snsd did, the only difference is that bts were relatively successful at it and waited for the right moment instead of forcing it like the other companies (also they didn’t call it a debut so there was no pressure, but that’s it)

like... the boys effectively debuted in america, why are we still pretending that’s not what happened? it’s more that the concept of debut doesn’t exist on the american market, but from the k-pop perspective, that’s what that was, at least it was the same thing other k-pop groups did when they tried to do it lol

how is bang pd gonna say that it’s not k-pop and goes against bts vision to sing in english, after releasing a song that is almost entirely in english and targetted at the american market?

like... oh my god... i know these articles really are meant for the korean audience, the boys were saying similar things at the press conferences in korea while saying something different while promoting in america (~we’re open to it, there are gonna be collabs, might do songs in english~ etc), but i wish they realised it spills over to international fandom and it causes a lot of issues, the cognitive dissonance rn is off the charts

you expect int fans to support your songs that are very obviously targetted at america, when at the same time you are preaching that that’s not what you’re doing? that you don’t need english while putting in more english? that you don’t need the “american business model”, while signing deals with american comanies (for pr, distribution - american label AND amazon deals), how are you gonna make your goals about billboard, an american chart, while saying you don’t want to target the american market?

i feel like i’m going crazy here... i feel bad for the fans that take everything that bang pd and the boys say at face value and don’t realize some things are just obvious media play... because now you have people on twitter praising bang pd for wanting bts to stay true to their roots and vehemently opposing any english songs, when mic drop exists... when obviously they want even more american exposure, not less...

doesn’t bang pd realize the issues that might cause in the future in case they make a song that is entirely in english??? (also are we forgetting namjoon already did that song with wale as well... anyways...)

listen they obviously want that american market money and roots mean nothing when it comes to money, they are just shooting themselves in the foot with this media play, reinforcing the bias people have against the western market when they are trying to enter it themselves... ffs
