So, anyway, I say as though we are mid-conversation, and you're not just being invited into this conversation mid-thought. One of my editors phoned me today to check in with a file I'd sent over. (<3)
The conversation can be surmised as, "This feels like something you would write, but it's juuuust off enough I'm phoning to make sure this is an intentional stylistic choice you have made. Also, are you concussed/have you been taken over by the Borg because ummm."
They explained that certain sentences were very fractured and abrupt, which is not my style at all, and I was like, huh, weird... And then we went through some examples, and you know that meme going around, the "he would not fucking say that" meme?
Yeah. That's what I experienced except with myself because I would not fucking say that. Why would I break up a sentence like that? Why would I make them so short? It reads like bullet points. Wtf.
Anyway. Turns out Grammarly and Pro-Writing-Aid were having an AI war in my manuscript files, and the "suggestions" are no longer just suggestions because the AI was ignoring my "decline" every time it made a silly suggestion. (This may have been a conflict between the different software. I don't know.)
It is, to put it bluntly, a total butchery of my style and writing voice. My editor is doing surgery, removing all the unnecessary full stops and stitching my sentences back together to give them back their flow. Meanwhile, I'm over here feeling like Don Corleone, gesturing at my manuscript like:

Fearing that it wasn't just this one manuscript, I've spent the whole night going through everything I've worked on recently, and yep. Yeeeep. Any file where I've not had the editing software turned off is a shit show. It's fine; it's all salvageable if annoying to deal with. But the reason I come to you now, on the day of my daughter's wedding, is to share this absolute gem of a fuck up with you all.
This is a sentence from a Batman fic I've been tinkering with to keep the brain weasels happy. This is what it is supposed to read as:
"It was quite the feat, considering Gotham was mostly made up of smog and tear gas."
This is what the AI changed it to:
"It was quite the feat. Considering Gotham was mostly made up. Of tear gas. And Smaug."
Absolute non-sensical sentence structure aside, SMAUG. FUCKING SMAUG. What was the AI doing? Apart from trying to write a Batman x Hobbit crossover??? Is this what happens when you force Grammarly to ignore the words "Batman Muppet threesome?"
Did I make it sentient??? Is it finally rebelling? Was Brucie Wayne being Miss Piggy and Kermit's side piece too much???? What have I wrought?
Anyway. Double-check your work. The grammar software is getting sillier every day.

Happy with the staff content this year but am I the only one who is disappointed with the PV we got? It's basically a slideshow of art we've already seen, major downgrade from the year 1 PV that had literally all the events. There was a drop in quality of the anniversary PVs over the years and it really shows this year. Sorry if you find this too negative I don't mean to hate I just wish Twst would do better for it's ANNIVERSARY.

Mmm, now that you mention it, I noticed this trend with the Halloween PVs 🤔 For year 1, there was a video that showed all members of the NRC casy, even those that did not receive cards at that time. There were then several short variants of the PV released for year 2/Endless Halloween Night (part 1 / part 2 / part 3 / part 4). Altogether, they feature all of the characters, including the students from year 1 but heavily shadowed and with glowing eyes to indicate ghostly possession. Even Glorious Masquerade features all of the students that get new cards for the event plus Rollo, although there are notably more still shots here. The Stage in Playful Land CM, by comparison, is significantly shorter and only shows us the three SSRs (Ace, Ortho, and Kalim) as well as the two new characters (Fellow and Gidel).
As this anon has said, the anniversary PVs have changed a lot over time too. The first one was the most animated and integrated several event outfits. The second one was also animated a fair amount, but you can tell corners were cut in some places where they transition to photographs/still images. This alone works thematically given that the player is a photographer, but you can still catch dips in quality when it comes to the art style. I remember finding Deuce running and the Kalim + Silver flying scene odd, as well as Jade and Trein's faces strange in general. Then the third PV rolls around and it only features the third years; the animation also seems to be much more sluggish (although this could be a stylistic choice; not sure). A friend actually recently pointed out to me that Lilia's pose looks like he was pulled straight from other assets; his artwork in the animation is almost the exact same as his smiling expression in the game. This year's is the most different (+ most static) and, like year 3's PV, only provides "new" content for a select few characters (the dorm leaders). They also reuse pre-existing illustrations already found in the game that don't seem to be picked for any particular reason (like, there are random Master Chef/Culinary Crucibles groovies in there). This direction, I'm guessing, is less costly and more efficient than making an entirely original animation, which is what was done in previous years. (Not that Disney or Aniplex is hurting for money to fund this, lol) Would I have preferred another PV in the style of year 1's? Yeah, for sure. I want to see other events and their outfits animated! Was what we got this year bad? Not necessarily; I think the production and editing was very technically impressive, but I'm still sad we didn't get anything substantially "new" to chew on (as someone who isn't a fan of most third years or the dorm leaders). Maybe it's just something we perceive as a deficit only because year 1 set the bar so high. It is what it is; whoever was in charge of the anniversary PV was probably doing the best they could with whatever budget they were given 😔 Let's hope that next year's will be a return to form, or that at least the money/effort is being redirected to other bigger projects (maybe the anime?).

Can we stop proving Taylor Swift right for once? When she wrote 'My reputation's never been worse' back in 2017 we thought that would be the end of it. But in more recent times (2017 was AGES ago, guys, come on) the lyrics are still relevant and being applied to actress y/n y/ln's life. Her reputation truly has never been worse.
One thing is being called bad at your job. Which, okay, she is not (I am not biased, I'm just not stupid). y/n is great at being a RomCom actress, she has a stylist that sells her well and has good social media presence. Or had, since that's all gone now.
Even if she was lucky enough to really start making it in Hollywood, we can't ignore the fact that for the past two months y/n has been exposed as a really bad person. AND SHE'S LETTING IT HAPPEN!
While a lot of people in social media have come to her defense in the rejected marriage proposal topic, saying she doesn't have to say yes if she doesn't feel like it, others say it's what she 'owed' to Aidan Kim.
Sources, who are still yet to be revealed, have talked to magazines and celebrity sites about her romance with the guy she only sees as a toy. Does y/n have feelings at all? I guess Charles Leclerc didn't like what she said about him, since there were no pictures of them together at the Spanish Grand Prix. Losing your boyfriend and your reputation in the same week must hurt.
But that's not even the main issue here, why is y/n letting all of this happen right in front of her eyes? Hello, girl, speak up! Does she really have nothing to say in her defense?
People are eating her alive and what she does is post her luxurious breakfast in Monaco, Elix cans and Ferrari Special Edition merch. y/n doesn't care what is being said as long as people keep talking about her. You're going to regret this, girl. That's all I'm saying.
For now, let's say goodbye to the 'Queen of RomComs' reputation (2019-2023).

Matilde Bassi comes in the defense of y/n y/ln after last week's new discoveries on her breakup, a turmoil that has followed y/n for months now.
"She owes nothing to Aidan Kim. She's a self-made woman, and it's frankly disgusting how people want to give her achievements to some man." The former Broadway star said in an Instagram Live on Sunday June 4th.
After comments asked for her thoughts on the rejected engagement, Bassi didn't hold back: "y/n, just like every woman, has the right to say no. It's a proposal, not a sentence. Good for everyone who is brave enough to know what they don't want in their lives anymore."
Matilde hasn't walked away unscathed after such brave statements, people have started to crucify her on social media. Comments go from how she doesn't deserve to keep playing Juliet to how they're glad she lives in Italy now so they can't come across her on the street, Bassi is suffering similar repercussions to that of her beloved friend.
Let's remember Matilde and y/n were seen together in Europe in May, enjoying a short break in Rome before attenting the Monaco Grand Prix, where y/n went to see alleged boyfriend Charles Leclerc.

June 7th, Maranello, Italy.
Charles was already having a bad day before they told him about the PR meeting. Although it seemed impossible, this season's car got shittier every time and it made his confidence drop a little more every time he got on it and failed to drive properly. Was winning Monaco really just a lucky strike like everyone kept saying?
Spain was definitely a whole weekend to forget, not only for the shitshow that the Grand Prix had been. He couldn't stop thinking about y/n's panic attack and the way she had cried in his arms that same night.
Charles is not oblivious to everything that is happening around her, and how it did seem to get worse every time. When he first met her, he didn't think it would get to this point where people who didn't even know her would inflict torture and mental abuse on her all day every single day. And although Charles has been through a fair amount of online bullying as a professional athlete and public figure, it's not in the same way that what y/n is being subjected to right now.
"Are you listening, Charles?" the Ferrari PR manager asks, tapping her fingers in front of him, a few drops of coffee jump from his red styrofoam cup and into the white surface.
He nods, uninterested. Charles couldn't care less about whatever the Elix guys have to say. He sees the way the worst of them, Stuart Schaffer, looks at y/n. Lascivious, filthy. Charles has thought about punching him more times than he would like to admit.
There was a whole presentation on how Ferrari is being perceived by fans all over the world right now, touching on several points starting with Carlos and him, the last three races and finally, the people that surround Ferrari.
"Elix is experiencing a drop in sales, and we believe this to be due to a certain public figure that has been seen around the Paddock..." the Elix representative is saying, pointing at a graph that ends at the bottom of the page.
"Maybe it's just that your drink is shit," Charles' mouth is quicker than his brain, and he knows he's completely fucked himself over by the gasps that run through the table. Except for Carlos, Carlos has to hide his laugh with a cough. "I don't know."
The only reason he drank it so often, even when cameras were off, was because he didn't know what to do with his hands when talking to y/n.
"Charles!" the PR manager hisses. There have been several times in which he has earned that hawk-like look from her, but it still fazes him.
Yet, he doesn't back down.
"If you were going to talk about y/n and blame her for whatever disaster is happening with your company, you should have at least asked her to come. Talking behind her back is low."
y/n's absence didn't surprise him, she was back in L.A. first thing Monday. And although he's glad she's not here to listen to these bunch of assholes blaming her for their mistakes, he wishes she was just to see her, to make sure she'll be okay.
His name is passed through the table again in hisses and warnings, and finally he lets go.
"This is your fault too, kid," Stuart Schaffer has his hand in a fist on top of the table, red blotches coloring his face and neck.
Charles loathes the word kid coming out of his mouth. Him and y/n are of similar age, and she's not a 'kid' in his eyes.
"If you weren't fucking that bitch while she had a boyfriend, this wouldn't be happening."
His ears are ringing and he knows it's his face now that's tinted red.
"Get out, please Charles," the manager intervenes before another word can come out of his mouth, or worse, before he reaches Stuart Schaffer with his hands. "Now."
Charles' veins feel on fire as he gets up from his seat and walks out of the conference room. Biting the tip of his tongue so as not to curse Stuart in every single language he knows.
Carlos makes eye contact with him as Charles closes the see-through door and shakes his head. 'They're going to give you so much shit,' his eyes say. And he's right.
The meeting takes an hour more and he's in one of the offices, buzzed with caffeine and bored out of his mind. He has, regretfully, scrolled down the hell that is Twitter. He's even more pissed off than before, and the caffeine is making him desperate to get out of his seat.
“How bad is it?” Charles asks when Carlos crosses the door.
“A little bad,” Carlos isn’t stressed, he even smiles. “For you mostly. But looking at the bright side, no more Elix.”
No more Elix also means no more money from them. Which won’t make a difference, he thinks.
“Thank God,” Charles lets his head fall down the back of the couch. His nape hurts.
“It also means no more y/n,” Carlos’ tone has changed and he’s looking at Charles with that puzzled look that means he wants Charles to expand on his thoughts.
“She can still come if she wants to,” Charles replies, still feigning tranquility. “I’ll give her a pass.”
And he really hopes y/n wants to. Because all he's done lately every time he goes back to the Ferrari Suite during race weekends is look for her around the room, hoping that she'll be looking at him already. It’s like pieces fall into place when it does. He knows he'll miss her if she's not there anymore.
"Yeah, me too," Carlos plops down on the couch next to him, putting his hands behind his neck. "Do you think she's okay?"
Charles shrugs, an impassive gesture that doesn't reflect the turmoil inside his brain and heart. He is worried about her, and has been for a while. "I'm sure she is, she's back in Los Angeles." They have texted often since he left right after the Grand Prix, but it isn't the same as hearing her voice tell him it's alright.
Carlos stares at him for a few seconds more, thinking his next words through. It's not like he doesn't notice the way Charles looks at y/n every time they're in the same room, he also isn't ignorant to the get-together they shared in Monaco—the one Charles shared zero details about—or what happened in Spain when neither made it to dinner.
But he wonders if Charles is aware of how hard he is falling and what kind of a mess he's getting into.
Carlos likes y/n too, although it took them some time to become acquainted. y/n knows how to throw the exact words at him to tease him, she's brilliant, and when people aren't putting her down, her good mood is contagious. She's like sunshine coming through the curtains on a warm morning.
Yet, it's obvious he'll feel more protective over Charles. He knows it's a mistake to spend so much time on social media, not only looking at what people say about himself, but about Charles and y/n, the cruel lies and twisted truths. He has thought about asking Charles whether he's really aware of the way things look to the outsiders, or how they're tearing him down too.
"What is it?" Charles asks, frowning.
Carlos shakes his head. It's not his place to say anything about his infatuation, if that's what this is. "Why don't you give her a call?"
"Yes, I might." Charles nods absently, looking at his lock screen. Pierre has sent him another link to more news about how he's a homewrecker. Pierre calls him 'loverboy' and makes fun of every new article that comes out about y/n and him. Charles hasn't found it entertaining once.
"Charles," the PR manager doesn't have to raise her voice in the silence of the room. "Come here, right now. Please."
"Told you," Carlos mutters, crossing his legs.
Charles groans and gets up. A reprimand isn't the end of the world when his car gets progressively shittier and luck left him a while ago.
And when he's not sure of when he'll see y/n again.

Charles knows he doesn't need to 'fight' in the name of y/n, or that she even would like him to. She warned him weeks ago that he shouldn't get into the nightmare that this situation is. But he'll be damned if he's going to continue letting people put her down at his expense.
y/n is not a damsel in distress, he knows. And standing up for her doesn't make him a knight in shining armor. It makes him a decent human being and a good friend.
Charles thinks really hard about this, way often. Is it okay that his friend makes his heartbeat quicken every time they're together? He feels like a teenager again, with butterflies flying around his stomach when he thinks about her. Not to mention the fact that he's tried to flirt with her several times, to no avail.
There are many things in the world that Charles wishes he could change. His luck, to begin with. But he really wishes things were different when it comes to y/n. He wants her to have peace, he wishes she'd never had to deal with panic attacks or anxiety induced by hate. He wishes they'd met in another time, when things weren't so fragile and the world could stay away from them, and wherever he knows he wants things with her to go.
And he wishes he knew if he's brave enough to deal with all of it.
"Hello?"
The wave of emotion hits him from head to toe and it takes him a moment to catch his breath. He's worse than a teenager, he knows. Charles has never acted this way before, and it makes him vulnerable in a way he doesn't completely dislike, but isn't comfortable with either.
"Hello y/n," he says, after clearing his throat. "I was um– I was just thinking about you."
There is a pause on the other side of the line and Charles looks at the clock on his nightstand. He did the math to figure out the timezones three times, yet he does it again.
"Hi Charles," her voice comes after a sigh of relief, "Were you?"
"Uh– yeah, I– I just wanted to know how you're doing."
Another prolonged silence and Charles adds: "Is that okay?"
y/n chuckles, "Of course it's okay."
"So, how are you?" Charles continues, anxiously pacing around the room. He wants to ask the right questions. "How's L.A.?" maybe that's not one of them.
"Well, it's Lalaland, what can you expect?" there is movement in the background and then a door shuts. "How's Maranello?"
"Well..." Charles isn't sure if Elix has called her already and he doesn't want to be the one to break the news. "The usual. Praying for improvement every week."
"That's something we have in common," y/n's chuckle comes without humor this time. "But I'm going back to New York in a few days, so that's something to look forward to."
Charles smiles. "Do you need any help with moving?"
"Are you flying from Italy to help me move back to New York?" y/n laughs and her genuineness is back.
"I could, if you needed me to."
He has never felt more awkward in his life, or giddier.
"Thank you, Charles. But I have two suitcases with me, I can handle it like a big girl."
It's Charles' turn to laugh, he has stopped pacing. “Just let me know if you need me, y/n.”
“I think I will.” y/n says, and after some consideration: “Can you stay with me on the phone? Just for a little while.”
And Charles is embarrassingly willing to drop everything and stay on the phone for as long as she needs to.
“Yes, sure,” he replies instead, “What do you want to talk about?”
And they talk about everything and nothing. Silly commercials, pet-peeves about airports, favorite colors and long forgotten songs. It takes more than a little while, but neither care about how much time has passed.
It’s not mental gymnastics realizing he likes her. Likes her, likes her. He feels like he’s inside one of her RomComs; already pining for her. What would the name be? Something cheesy and catchy, like 'Racing Hearts'. He likes it. And hates it, too.
“Y/n?”
“Yeah?” She interrupts her story about the nightmare that Paris was when filming Parisian Valentine, not minding cutting her story short.
Regret comes immediately because he doesn’t know how to fill the silence now, not with the words he wants to say.
That he knows how delicate things are right now. That he likes her for who she has shown him to be and how he is impatient to know even more about her. But he knows he’s probably going to scare her away if those silly words actually come out of his mouth.
“I like talking to you,” Charles says instead. The caffeine hasn't left his system, but he knows the new buzz comes from something else.
“But?” Y/n prompts, he can hear the change in her tone.
“No buts. I like it, I like you.”
“I like you too, Charles.” She says softly, and he pictures the small smile on her face. The one she saves for the times she's one hundred percent comfortable, like when they were at the lake in Monaco.
“And I want you to be okay,”
y/n lets out a shaky breath that makes the microphone crackle. “We are okay, though, aren’t we?” She’s thinking about the tabloids again.
“We are okay. We’ve been on the phone for two hours,” he laughs, and, regretfully, lets out a yawn before he can help it.
“Get some rest, Charlie,” y/n lowers her voice too. “Thank you for staying with me.”
The endearment, although common when people try to be cute to him, sends another wave of giddiness through his body.
"Anytime," he doesn't fight her goodbye because it's a lost cause, especially after he let on his tiredness. "I mean it."
"Thank you," she repeats, "You're a good friend."
Charles smiles, that's enough for now, more than enough for now.
"See you soon, y/n." Charles assures, a smile on his face.
"Goodnight Charlie."

My Sims are getting political! After so many months, I'm going back to finish up my Politics/Community Activist mod. This is actually what my Student Council mod is based on (it's basically a baby version of the Poltiics mod.) My current Sim, Arie Wang (I forgot where I downloaded this sim from but she's lovely and perfect for this storyline I'm playing out!) is in the Community Organizer career which is an Active career (like Firefighter or Stylist) and right now is working hard to push a new law in that will increase University scholarships and grants for all students.

Arie is a member of the New Earth party, one of the 4 political parties I created. New Earthers are all about the environment and focus on pushing forward environmental policies but as a mom, education is something that Arie cares about so she's been out there trying to encourage people to vote and hoping to sway voters before election day.
Different political parties have issues that they are either strong in favor of or against. If a party is against the policy, it's near impossible to sway them to vote for it so it's best to target people who are neutral and could vote either way.

I'm happy with how this customized ITF layout is coming out though I still need to make more tweaks and edits and also figure out why the active Sim's photo isn't showing (as below). Maybe also changing the title (Local Political Scanner??)

After probably doing about 40 fundraising cold calls she finally got someone to donate money. And boy did they! She's at the point in her career though when she doesn't need to be doing calls so I'm going to have her get some volunteers to do the grunt work so she can focus on making friends in City Hall to build further influence.

Once a ballot measure is put up for vote, you have 5 days to campaign before voting day. Arie has been hitting the streets every day to canvas for votes, doing campaign calls and also raising money for the party to pay for advertising (TV, radio, online, print) which is the most effective way to sway voters.

Yesterday, I added in a VFX to show when a Sim has been successfully influenced either for or against the ballot measure in question and in testing it out, I saw that Arie has actually been campaigning AGAINST the measure this whole time! Oops!

With 7 hours until the Election period begins, and all the time and money I've spent on campaign ads, it looks like I've just accidentally doomed my town to expensive education until I can repeal the law. The Free Llamas are not going to be happy.

A friend recently brought to my attention that Something's Wrong With Danny Fenton is now on the first page of DP fics when sorted by kudos (excluding crossovers) on AO3.
I'm genuinely so floored and SO SO grateful to everyone that has read and left kudos on SWWDF!
When I started it that year for Invisobang I never would've guessed that it would do as well as it's done. I worked so hard and I wrote something that I'm tremendously proud of. I'm happy that it's resonated with so many people. It was a lot of work to write and don't even get me started on the editing.
I will be eternally grateful to @kkachis for her skill and dedication as an editor - not only did she tackle that fuckin' thing, but she did so while remaining subjective and unafraid to tell me when the style was working and when I needed to reign it in. We both learned so much over those 3 months, and we continue to learn from eachother to this day.
To celebrate, and in honor of SWWDF, I want to show a little hint of something I've started working on to share with everyone.

When I started SWWDF, the thing that terrified me the most is that I knew I wanted to swing for the fences stylistically. I wanted to write it the way I would something that I was going to submit to a literary journal for publishing. I did this full well knowing that it may be a style that turned people away at the door. It's not for everyone and that's okay! Little did I know how many people would love it 😅
I struggled a lot in the beginning to find a balance between narrative fiction and my voice as a literary fiction writer. I had a low level but near constant anxiety that the style was "trying too hard".
My struggle and fears in 2021 is what's inspiring me to write an essay of sorts on this topic. If I could help or inspire other writers to play with style when it comes to fanfiction then that would make me pretty happy!
Anyway! Thank you again for this achievement!
Also! Let me know/send me an ask if any of you have specific questions you'd like me to address in the guide/essay about how I use/d style in fanfiction. Any questions will give me a better idea of what to narrow down on and cover.

I think SVSSS as a 2D cartoon would be the best moving medium for it imo.
I mean, personally, yeah, that's how I'd enjoy seeing it as well! My ideal slightly pretentiously artsy SVSSS screen adaptation would probably look only a little more detailed than linograph prints (2D or shaded 3D?) (someone hit me up in like two weeks to draw an example of what I mean, if I don't remember on my own, I don't have access to art stuff right now), very stylized and vibrantly colorful, because that's one of the art styles that I particularly enjoy.
I'm not a personally a fan of the 3D SVSSS show because I find the characters a little too doll-like and same-facey for my tastes? It's fine! It works! It's serviceable! It's just all, backgrounds included, a little... safe? I tend to like over-the-top bright colors and intricate details and impractically weird shapes and yet also coherent world production design in my fantasy, which is a lot to demand of any production, perhaps especially with animation productions, which are always squeezed for time and money.
(EDIT: I know the SVSSS show was under heavy constraints and the results are impressive considering their resources; it doesn't change the fact that I just don't like the art style and nevertheless find the results underwhelming. I don't like a lot of "realistic" modeling / rendering styles, not just "anime" ones, even if they are extremely technically impressive. Believe me when I say that I know the vast majority of the entertainment industry is overworked and underpaid and creatively restrained.)
Slightly tangential general note: I don't think 2D is inherently superior to 3D (EDIT: NOT trying to imply asker is saying this, just having some general thoughts), especially because, with the realities of production, each have their advantages. 2D has a lot of stylistic advantages still, but 3D shaders are catching up and doing some incredible things these days! More advanced puppet controls and particle effects and such are doing some beautiful things for 2D shows as well these days. A lot of stuff has been subtly mixed media as soon as 3D became possible. It is potentially possible (note: not saying any studio would actually greenlight this) to do an equally slightly weird and artistically stunning 3D SVSSS show, given the freedom to work. (Good boarding and writing is also sooooo important in both mediums, obviously, it's not just about the art design. You can get away with incredibly limited animation with good boarding, writing, and art design.)
Another slightly tangential ramble: both 2D and 3D have the potential for stiff animation and poor character acting, which also comes down to production limits and animator skills? (I often think of character animators as a type of actor!) There are a lot of 2D shows that I don't really like because I find the animation incredibly stiff, both puppet and handdrawn (there's great 2D puppet stuff out there these days), which pretty much always comes down to production limits (deadlines and budget and software, saving up their animation for the coolest scenes). One of my favorite things about Studio Ghibli films (which as features get a lot more space to focus on art compared to the demands and restraint of television) has always been the squash and stretch in otherwise relatively realistic action, making things like hugs look SO nice for example. But 3D stuff is getting better at that these days! The ways characters slumped into each other in "Nimona" for example was great. And it's just fascinating to look at the elasticity / stylized sculpt of expressions in "Puss in Boots: The Last Wish" compared to the technical limits of the models / rigs in "Shrek" or "Shrek 2".
Adding these side notes because I want to be clear about my respect for both 2D and 3D artistically! A lot of video games are doing cool stuff in 3D that looks very close to 2D with stylized shaders, which you can sometimes spot by the large or small rotations in character action / acting, which is difficult (and therefore often expensive) to do in 2D with all of those extra drawings / angle poses. Also, I think the current push towards funky shaders in 3D is so cool and it's hard not to gush about them!!!

Miriam hugged her Max Mara teddy coat tighter. She was outside in the private landing strip waiting for the jet to open. Jack and his team were in Berlin for one of his shows last night and they flew back to London earlier today because Jack is one of the honorees for GQ's Man of the Year awards. The ceremony was being held later in the evening. Miriam was in London because she was presenting her co-star, Oscar Isaac, at the GQ awards as he's also an honoree. 
In addition to that, Miriam was also in London for work. The show she was filming with her mom and Aaron Taylor-Johnson was going to have time jumps throughout the season, but they filmed everything from the past first in Atlanta then the 'present'. The present was taking place in London so that's why she was there with AaronTaylor-Johnson. Her mom's character was only needed for the 'past' scenes. The present is actually the ongoing investigation of her character's random death and the past were what led up to her mysteriously passing.
The private jet finally opened and Jack and his team came trailing behind. Miriam smiled seeing Jack thud down the steps, dick first, but her smile curved down when he walked past her. He turned around and scratched his head as he walked towards her.
"Oh shit I almost didn't recognize you with your new hair." He joked. 
"You're not funny." Miriam deadpanned. 
Her hair used to reach the middle of her back but she cut it for work and now it's up to her shoulders, but when she straightened it reached her shoulder blades. She was supposed to wear a wig to indicate the time jumps in the show, but the hair stylist couldn't get it to fit without making it obvious she was wearing a wig. So Miriam suggested that they just cut her actual hair to the length they wanted. Either way she was due for a trim because her ends were a mess. Now she rocked curls in a lob. 
"I'm just playing." He said, leaning down to kiss her, but she curved him. 
"What's your girlfriend gonna think?" She joked. 
"I don't know, what do you think?" Jack retorted. 
Miriam rolled her eyes in response. 
Jack laughed and pulled her into a deep kiss. He slipped his hands inside her coat and slid them down to her ass. He backed Miriam into the SUV. Jack wedged one of his legs in between hers and let her slowly rub herself against his gray sweats. Miriam stood on her tippy toes, pulling him closer. They slowly devoured each other, bodies melting into each other.
Urban cleared his throat dramatically, “You nasties saw each other a week ago fucking chill.” 
“I swear I heard the pornhub theme song the second y’all started dry humping each other.” Ace piped up behind them.
“You wish we were on pornhub.” Jack said, hugging Miriam from behind. 
“Whenever you guys are ready we can get back to the house.” Miriam said. 
“Yeah, me and Urb are staying at the hotel with the rest.” Ace said.
Urban nodded. “We would like to actually sleep and not hear you two go at all night.” 
“We’re not gonna go all night, just all afternoon.” Jack smirked. 
“I can’t stand you.” Miriam rolled her eyes then got in the car. 
Jack jogged to the sprinter van to let his managers know he and Miriam were leaving. They told him that they were getting picked up at seven. He got in the back seat of Miriam’s car and then Beto drove them back to her family’s house. 
They arrived half an hour later. Miriam led him inside the house. In the living room were the twins watching tv. 
“Shit let me get my noise canceling headphones.” Joseph joked, seeing Jack and Miriam walk passed them. “I want to sleep tonight.” 
“It was one time–” Miriam began but she was cut off by her older sister.
“No because these two snuck off to fuck and they were found in a broom closet because of Miriam’s loud ass moans.” she told her twin. 
Miriam rolled her eyes as her siblings imitated her and her sex sounds. She grabbed Jack’s wrist and tugged him upstairs. Her siblings always found ways to embarrass her in front of Jack. He found it endearing that her siblings liked him enough to include him in their banter and teases. 
“I’m gonna hop in the shower.” he said once they reached her room. 
Miriam nodded as she took off her coat and hung it on its hanger. She felt Jack’s eyes on her ass. She overslept and rushed to get ready to pick him up, so she threw on the first pair of leggings she found. What she realized later was that they were a pair of worn out leggings that looked like panty hose around her ass with how thin they got in that area. Thus revealing the bright pink thong she wore under.  
“Don’t start.” She warned him. 
“I haven’t said anything.” Jack said defensively. 
“But I know you.” Miriam eyed him. 
Jack didn’t respond. He went into her bathroom and showered. Fifteen minutes later, he came out with a towel wrapped loosely around his hips. Miriam laid in her bed reading a book with her knees bent in only a t-shirt, giving Jack a peek of her thong. He put on some navy blue boxer-briefs. After he did his after shower routine, he climbed on top of Miriam and laid on her chest. He sighed contently and nuzzled his face into her breasts. 
Miriam bookmarked her book and set it aside. She brought her hand down and gently scratched Jack’s scalp. 
“Are you hungry?” She asked him. 
“Not right now. I wanna catch a quick nap.” He mumbled.  
“Okay.” She nodded. 
Miriam kept playing with his hair, eventually making her way down to his shoulders. She rubbed her thumbs into his shoulder blades, earning a moan from Jack. He was tense as fuck. 
“Get off.” she told him. 
“Why?” Jack frowned.
“You’re stiff as fuck.” 
“My dick isn’t even on you, how did you know?” He smirked.
 “No, bro, seriously, I can feel that you're tense. Are you good?” Miriam asked him softly. 
“I’m good.” He insisted, trying to shrug it off.
“Jack…” 
“Miriam…” 
When he started his tour, Jack had been working on his new album to pass the time. Ever since he performed at the Today Show he confessed to Miriam that he had been feeling overwhelmed and overworked, but at the same time it felt like he wasn't doing enough for him and how he had to keep pushing himself to keep the momentum going.
“Let's talk about it later, yeah?”
Miriam nodded, not wanting to pressure him. She got out from under him and grabbed a lotion. Taking advantage that Jack was still laying on his back, she straddled his ass. Miriam pumped a generous amount into her hand and smacked it down on Jack’s back. She rubbed all over his back then she applied more pressure onto him. She worked her fingers into his shoulder blades, making him groan. 
"Fuck, Miriam," he whined, "You're so good to me." 
"Can you lay on your back porfis?" She asked him.
"Yeah," he nodded.
She got off him allowing him to roll on his back. Jack patted her thigh and Miriam straddled him once more. She put some more lotion on her hand and rubbed his on his chest. 
Jack smiled to himself watching Miriam be so focused and diligent. She took her time massaging him. Once she was done with his body she moved up to his neck and face. 
"You're my favorite view." He said as he was eye level to her breasts. 
"You're annoying." She shook her head, smiling. 
"I was expecting a more sarcastic response." He 
"I wasn't in the mood to banter." She shrugged. 
"But you love my banter." Jack frowned playfully. 
"Who said that?" Miriam giggled. 
She looked down at his lips then back his blue eyes. She was about to pull back but Jack held her in place by her neck and claimed her lips. It was a slow kiss. She had one hand on his chest balancing herself as Jack moved his hand to cradle her face. His other hand tightly gripped her thigh. He moaned into her mouth, feeling her slowly rutted her hips against the very tall tent in his boxers. 
Miriam pulled away and sat, removing her baggy t-shirt. She cupped his cheeks and pulled him into a needy kiss. Jack pushed her down on the bed and continued kissing as Jack skillfully managed to pull her panties and pulled down his boxer-briefs, just enough to get his cock out. 
They were interrupted by a loud shriek and her bedroom door slamming shut.
"Miriam, if you're gonna fuck have the decency to close the fucking door." Joseph yelled through the door.

"Hola Vogue, soy Miriam Dominguez and today I'm going to show y'all how I do a simple red carpet glam for tonight's GQ event." Miriam said into the tripod she set up in her large bathroom. 
She was filming a Vogue Beauty Secrets video. Originally she was going to do a video of her nighttime routine for when she got home after a long day of filming. But she procrastinated and now she was filming a grwm video. She was going to straighten her hair as well but the nap she and Jack took was longer than expected. 
Miriam caught herself in the bathroom's reflection. Her neck and some of her cleavage were marked up. 
She looked at the camera like she was in the office and said, "But first we're going to do a quick lesson on how to cover your hickies because my partner is part octopus." 
She pulled out her cream color kit. Miriam explained color theory and how complementary colors work in order to mute each other so foundation could cover what needed to be covered. 
"See, like nothing." She showed the camera. She was about to put it away but then she remembered that Jack’s neck looked like hers. 
Almost like he sensed she needed him, Jack walked in the bathroom with a matcha for her. He was wrapped up in a fluffy robe and had some gel patches under his eyes. When they woke up from their nap, Miriam noticed he had some dark circles from not properly resting. So she put some hydrating gel under eye patches on him so they could make him look more awake. She also put on a pimple patch on his forehead. 
"Sit," she motioned at the bidet. 
"I was joking when I said we should film a sex–" 
Miriam clamped her hand over his mouth. "I'm filming for Vogue." 
"Oh," he said softly. 
"Let me cover your hickies, so your manager doesn't beat my ass." She said. 
"I've seen you kickbox, you can take Neelam." He joked.  
Miriam rolled her eyes and got to work. She did the same technique she did on herself, but the only difference was that Jack's hickies were more pronounced because he had lighter skin than her. She also made a foundation base to go on top of his covered hickies that matched his skin tone. 
"All done." She said rinsing the pallette where she mixed her colors. 
Jack got up and inspected himself. He had no idea how Miriam managed to do that. His neck and collarbones were all one even shade. He wasn't even sure where Miriam marked him up. 
"You're fucking talented." He said, sitting back down on the Bidet. 
Miriam smiled and went on doing her makeup. She did a set by set process on how she prepared her face with sunscreen, toner, moisturizer and primer. Jack leaned against the sink and watched her in awe as she talked to the camera. He had no idea what she meant but he couldn’t stop staring. Miriam sighed, reaching for a clean makeup wipe. It was her fourth attempt at doing a cute eyeliner design. She wasn't good at eyeshadow so she mainly stuck to one color then did a fun design with eyeliner. 
"Am I distracting you?" Jack asked. 
"A little." She said, quietly. 
"I'll leave you to it then." He said. 
"No, it's fine." She waved him off. 
"I know you, bro. I gotta work on some stuff anyway." 
He got up and squeezed her hips as he passed through. 
Miriam smiled to herself then dabbed some more of the soft orchid liquid eyeshadow on her pallette and dipped her thin eyeliner brush over it. She went on talking about Halsey's brand, About Face, has some of her favorite colors to work with for eyeliner looks. She also talked about her look for the night. 
It was a vintage long black dress from Gianni Versace’s Fall-Winter 1994. It had the iconic gold-tone Medusa buttons going down the length of her dress. The back was held together with a long strip that went down the middle of her back kinda like overalls. Since the gold buttons were a lot Miriam was keeping her accessories to a minimum. Once she finished her makeup she thanked Vogue and went to her room so she could upload her video to the Vogue team so they could edit and post it in afew days. 
She found Jack sitting on her bay window with his MacBook and a notebook on his lap. She liked watching him in the zone. She just hoped that he wasn't pushing himself too much. She knew that he wanted to work on something new that felt more personal to him. She read a few lines that he showed her when she visited him on tour back in October and as a fan she was excited to see where he took his music this time around. 
"I can feel you starin'." Jack said, putting his things off to the side. 
"Damn, I can't admire my man." She said in a playful tone. 
"Knowing you, no." He said sarcastically. 
Miriam sat on his lap and ran her nail along the designs of his robe. It was them when noticed that she got them done. They were long and nude pink. 
"What are these called?" He said intertwining their fingers together. 
"Acrylic nails." She replied. 
"No smartass, the shape." 
"Oh," she giggled. "These are coffin shaped. Why do you ask?"
"Just wonderin'," he shrugged, looking down at his notebook.

"Work husband?!" Jack confronted Miriam when she walked in the studio. 
Jack, Urban, Ace, and Nickie were at a friend's studio while Jack recorded some of his songs. Miriam had the day off from filming but she spent the day self taping for an audition. She finished that and went to Nandos to bring them food.
"Huh?" Miriam looked at Nickie, Ace, and Urban confused. 
"Bro, they're eating me up on Twitter." He said, passing her his phone. 
'Dating a bad bitch like Miriam Dominguez is not for the weak. Idk how Jack Harlow is dealing with this.' 'What if Miriam calling Oscar Isaac her work husband was Jack Harlow's 13th reason?' 'Jack Harlow and Oscar Isaac's wife are braver than any US Marine.' She read the tweets to herself. Evidently annoyed, she passed him back the phone. "I'll delete it damn. It was just a joke." 
"Bro I'm just kidding, why are you getting so worked up?" Jack asked in an irritated tone. 
"And that's our cue." Urban mumbled as he walked out of the room with Ace and Nickie trailed behind him, taking the food she brought them. 
"What's up? Like everything was good and then you brought down the vibes." Jack told Miriam. 
"Oh so my presence bothers you. Got it." She said, turning on her heel. 
"Miriam, that's not what I meant." He sighed. "Obviously something is up, and you're taking it out on me." 
"I'm fucking done." She said with her voice cracking at the end. Tears rolled down her cheeks. "I'm so tired. I'm so fucking overwhelmed and…and…"
She didn't finish her sentence. She ran to the nearest trash can and threw up everything she had for breakfast which wasn't much to begin with. One of the tell-tale signs that Miriam was going to have a panic attack was that she threw up. Jack had seen her have her fair share and knew the drill. He knelt behind her and gathered her curls into an oddly shaped bun. He helped her out of her coat and rubbed her back whilst she vomited once more. 
"Let's go outside and get you some air." Jack said softly after a few minutes. 
Miriam nodded and stood up with his help. Jack draped her coat over her shoulders and took the trash bag out of the trash can. They made their way out to the parking lot. He sat her down on the curb while he went to throw away the bag in a large trash can. The guys were in the sprinter van eating so he went over to get some water, hand sanitizer, gum, and wet wipes for Miriam. 
"Here." He said, sitting next to her. 
Miriam took a generous sip of the water, swishing it in her mouth before spitting it out. She cleaned her mouth and hands then popped the gum in her mouth. 
"I'm sorry for blowing up in your face like that." She said quietly, resting her head on knee. 
"Can I ask what made you upset?" He asked, gently pulling her curls out of the bun he did. 
"I got my schedule for Poison Ivy. We start rehearsals on the 28th." She sighed. "I thought I was going to have a few weeks off to rest. But I don't even get a week off. We're scheduled to finish filming the show on the 23rd. I won't be able to fly home." She said before tearing up once more. 
"C'mere," Jack said, pulling her to his chest. 
"I'm so exhausted." She sighed defeatedly. "The show is draining. We're doing fifteen episodes and each one is somewhere between forty minutes to an hour long which is rare for a show on a streaming service."
"I'm sorry." 
"Jack, you have nothing to apologize for." 
"I know but part of me feels like I should." He said, making her snort. 
Miriam nuzzled against his chest. That was when she noticed he was only wearing a long sleeve. 
"Bro, why are you only wearing a long sleeve?! Let's get inside before you get sick and your manager beats my ass." She quickly got up and pulled Jack upright. 
"I'll be fine." 
"Inside now." She said sternly.
"Inside you? Out here? In the parking lot? Damn, you're a freak, Miriam." He smirked. 
"You're so unserious." She rolled her eyes. 
They went back inside. Surprisingly Miriam had an appetite and ate her food. While the guys went over the beat of a song where Jack talked about himself through different ages of his music career, she pulled out her sketchpad and worked on her designs. It was her design for the upcoming Met Gala. They announced the theme a few weeks ago at Paris Fashion week so she was getting a head start because she was making her own outfit. 
If Miriam were being honest, she didn't like the theme. Sure Karl Lagerfeld was iconic, but he'd done her mom and sister dirty. In the 90s he didn't believe that Isabela was the right look for Chanel. Then when Katalina started modeling he would take her out of runway shows at the last minute because she wasn't fitting the vibes for the show and then would get replaced with a white model. There were also some comments he made about women and diversity in fashion that just gave Miriam a bad taste in her mouth. It was also why she didn't own that many Chanel pieces. She didn't feel comfortable spending her money on someone who had those ideals. In addition to him, she stopped supporting brands like: Dior, Dolce and Gabbana, Carolina Herrera and Alexander Wang. 
She was invited to the Met Gala but she was planning on walking the red carpet. Though she was positive that what she had planned to wear would get her banned from future Met Galas by Anna Wintour, that wasn't going to stop her from doing what she was going to do. 
"Are you busy?" Jack asked, walking up to her. 
"No, what's up?" Miriam asked, closing her sketchpad. 
"Wanna do some backup vocals for me?" 
"You have to contact my manager for payment methods." 
"I got a few options but I don't think your mom would want to know what they are." He smirked. 
"Okay, jokes aside, my mom does need a contract or whatever y'all have to have on file." She said. 
"I'll have Chris send it to her." He reassured her. 
"Okay, what do you need me to do?"
Jack pulled her to the soundboard. Miriam sat on one of the spinning chairs and listened attentively to Jack as he explained he wanted her to do a short freestyle at the end for the outro of the song. Truthfully, she was nervous. She's never done something like that. Sure she's quick with her comebacks, but this was different and she didn't want to disappoint Jack.
"Okay we're gonna play the song a few times so you can get a feel for it and when you're ready just go for it." Nickie told Miriam. 
"Okay," she nodded, giving him a toothless smile. 
Miriam made her way to the soundbooth. She removed her blue sweater vest and tossed it at Jack. She pulled her hair into a ponytail and put on the headset. She kicked her feet on the stool, waiting for the song to play. Within the first seconds, she knew it was the instrumental of the song he wrote for her over a year and a half ago. The lyrics were different from the original. She figured since he used part of the original lyrics in Lil Secret. 
She smiled to herself when Jack rapper 'and my baby she a natural.' It had more than one meaning. Of course the obvious was that Miriam has a natural body and she hadn't got any cosmetic surgery done. But the second meaning was something he would sometimes tell her when he'd catch her belting out ballads and be impressed at how effortlessly she would sing. 
At the mention of her nails, she looked down at hers. They were exactly like the ones he described in the song. They were her go-to design when she wanted to get her nails done but didn't want to commit to a color or design. 
She listened to the song a few more times and eventually she said, "I can't believe you said 'You know I make you laugh like no one else' as if my job isn't acting and I know to fake laugh. Hell, I even fake org–"
"That's good." He cut her off, making her cackle loudly.

Fellow Travelers | The Orange Elephant in the Room
Alright, let's talk about it.
For those who've watched the available episodes of FT so far; I'm sure we've all noticed the citrus haze they all seem to be living in.
Especially if you've attempted to edit/GIF any portion of it. The struggle is real and I'm sure has inspired many colouring dilemmas.
And we're all asking "WHY?!".
Now, I'm writing this having not looked up anything about it. So I dunno if anyone responsible has made a formal confession.
One of my initial thoughts around it was; okay... so is this just a 1950s thing? But after watching (and rewatching) episode 2, I feel like it's part of the story in a different way; It's clearly a stylistic choice, yes (I should hope that doesn't just happen by accident). But it also seems to double as a narrative choice.
Putting the rest, with image examples, under a cut because it's kinda long.
Warm vs Cool
The conclusion I've come to is pretty simply, one that we've seen used across media in a lot of movies and shows. Warm tones used to colour scenes that are meant to literally be 'warm'; a loving environment or somewhere where the character(s) feel like they can be themselves. Cool tones used for scenes where it's quite the opposite; a cold hostile environment where the character(s) does not feel welcome. Gradients in between for all the neutral/'greyarea' spaces.

Compare it to day time neutral alone Tim in the same room before. The difference is that he's with Hawk, out of sight of any would be naysayers.
So yeah, while I am mad about the colouring for giffing needs, I do think what they're doing is pretty neat, and the POC in the show look glorious in the warm tones.
The warm/cool motif is dialled up even more in episode 2, with the contrast of Mary's warm welcoming party and Hawk's cold af family gathering (even though they still have the orange lamps/sconces around, they add nothing to the warmth):

🥺 Ugh, Tim at Mary's party. Might be my favourite part of the episode, alongside the kissing n spooning. Anyway...
The transition of Mary from the same living room where she hosted that party, to the kitchen they were just questioned in:

That transition made me start paying more attention and go back to rewatch previous scenes just for colour themes.
Interestingly Hawk's apartment seems to live in this neutral/warmish space. It was more warm earlier in the episode, especially when they were in the bedroom the morning Tim left his glasses. But in general it's a lot less warm than Tim's apartment when compared; still their skin glows with a hint of tangerine:

Of course, not only the lighting/colouring but their outfit choices say a lot. Tim is usually in the warm browns with his dress, while Hawk pretty much sticks to black, white, grey (hints of a cool toned blues and reds in his ties). This coupled with the differences in their own living space probably reflects a lot about the character and how 'welcoming' they are to others. Idk... or I could just be thinking too much about it.
This is another really interesting transition in episode 2. As Hawk hangs up the phone in that cool toned side room, opens the door to the main room of a gay bar, the warm tones literally seem to absorb him in. Which makes sense, this is obviously a gay friendly place in San Francisco. He doesn't have to try to hide any part of himself, like he probably was still trying to do on that voicemail to Lucy just before.

Now, I could go through and screenshot a load more examples (some scenes with Lucy are interesting, and that lounge/club), but you probably get the gist, you see the pattern. If not before, on your next watch, you'll certainly see it.
This has got longer than intended; I'd be surprised if anyone got this far, I did NOT fully organise my thoughts before I started this, I just began rambling and I feel like it could've been more organised and laid out better. But if you have thoughts about the colouring, I'd really like to see those too. 🤗

Thoughts on Fashion & Style from Harvey's Instagram Live with Samantha Rei Crossland
Last night, Harvey Guillén joined fashion designer Samantha Rei Crossland for a chat on Instagram Live to talk about life, style, the entertainment industry, and to answer some fan questions! The full video may be available via Harvey or Samantha's IG eventually, as they saved it at the end, but in the meantime I've compiled some of the questions and answers related to Harvey's relationship with fashion and style here!
This text is taken from the video and has been lightly edited for clarity.
Samantha: Dollie says, "as a fan you can really tell Harvey worked deliberately through fashion and photoshoots to establish his style in person, in front of the camera, and on the red carpet. I'd love to hear more about that journey and additionally if you have any tips for achieving confidence in style and fashion."
Harvey: Wow, good question! I feel like that was an avenue that never was presented to me as an option for the first part of my career. You know everyone's like "oh who dressed you?" I dressed myself! I mean I still do, but I didn't really get any kind of help with anything stylish-wise until recently, when I got the opportunity to work with different designers and stylists who introduced me to those designers. That's really what it is: a stylist will get you into an atelier or someone's house, like Christian Siriano or someone like that. But for the most part, for a long time I just kind of dressed myself, and on a budget.

Knowing Harvey was putting these kinds looks together by himself on a budget in 2017 and 2018, I will never again cut any of the Chrises with their MCU money a single centimeter of slack for showing up year after year, to event after event, in bland black or navy suits.
Harvey (continued): Because stylists are worth every penny, but they're expensive! They are expensive because they do a great job, but you also have to be constantly doing that. I think Zendaya was just talking about this in an interview. There's moments where you want a stylist because you want to look your best and you want the best opportunity and possibility, and there's moments where you're like "I'll dress myself, it's just a small event, I'll make it work. I'll make it work with what I have."
But yeah, I really wanted to put myself in a position where...why can't I like fashion? Why can't I do a photoshoot, and why can't I do a cover? I had a publicist, one of my first publicists...I said "I want to be the first to do something, like be on a cover of something like this!" And they straight out loud said "that's not going to happen." And I was like..."oh well, I mean maybe not overnight, but that should be the goal, we should work toward--"
And they were like "yeah, but we want to be realistic...and that's not gonna happen."

Cannot imagine being the person to tell THIS man he's never going to be on the cover of a magazine.
Harvey (continued): I realized, if people on your team are naysayers or they're not seeing the vision, those people aren't on your team. So unfortunately, I had to let them go, because if there's someone on your team who's already being toxic towards your vision, that's not the vision, that's not the vibe, that's not it. And so I'm glad to report that shortly after that we did get a cover! And then I was able to kind of show that off and be like, "it can be done!" You just have to find the right team and the right people who see your vision.
I think for so long it's just been easy to say no to people who don't fit the mold of Hollywood, and I'm not here to fit a mold. I'm here to break it.
Samantha: You're killin' it! You have no idea how many of these questions were just "when is he starting a fashion line?"
Harvey: I want to! I think right now I'm so focused on my main passion, which is acting, and I'm so grateful and blessed to have opportunities that are coming my way and that I am excited for. And now wrapping something that I'm gonna hold so dear to my heart like Shadows for so long, I'm so grateful. And you know, most actors would kill for just the opportunity to be on a show like Shadows and call it a day, and I would be happy if that's the work that I'm known for, because it's such a great show.
But I'm fortunate that I have all of these other things that are coming up. I'm so excited for the opportunities, and I'm excited for the different characters and different roles and different hats I get to put on.
But eventually that would definitely be an avenue that...I mean, it would definitely be on brand! You know? It would be so on brand to open a plus size line, especially because growing up I didn't see as many options for plus size people, period. But if there were, obviously the lean is for female clothing, and it was never for men at all. Like the options for a plus sized guy was like...screen t-shirts and jeans. And that's it!
Or it was always Big and Tall, where if you weren't tall you got stuck with a really short and stout kind of shirt. The measurements were always catered to "if you're big, you gotta be tall," and well, I don't know if that's true, but there was no in between. So that's a market that I would definitely want to look at. But for the time being I'm focusing on the acting part of it.
Samantha: Kelly wants to ask, "do you like any specific colors or patterns? Where are your tastes when you dress high fashion?"
Harvey: I used to be afraid of color a lot because I was always told if you're plus sized or bigger you'll amplify yourself. But I think you shouldn't be afraid of color. Last year, a year ago next month, at the Meta Gala I wore pink! That was all Christian Siriano from head to toe, and there was a wink there and a story behind it--if you know you know--why he and I chose the color pink for the Met Gala and who they were honoring and all of that. So I'm not afraid of color. I try to be very specific about the dimensions and where my leg cuts off or where it elongates my leg.

Harvey's now-iconic outfit from the 2023 Met Gala--whose theme was honoring Karl Lagerfeld--blended foundational style elements of Lagerfeld's most famous designs for Chanel with all the things Lagerfeld loudly hated throughout his life. Lagerfeld was infamous for making shitty comments about plus sized people, people of color, short men, and a host of other things. He also disliked the color pink. So Harvey showing up as himself and looking stunning wearing that glorious pink number was possibly the classiest shade ever thrown.
Harvey (continued): I've just been like the Christian Siriano poster boy this year! Which is a funny story because when I first approached him over a year ago for the Oscars, he was really busy and he said "I really don't make menswear."
And I was like "well I'm not saying I want you to make completely a tuxedo, I want you to do something in the middle." And he was like "well, I kind of did that with Billy Porter" where he put Billy in this really amazing gown. And I was like "well I don't want to do a gown, I want something between that, you know? Like where it doesn't have to be a traditional, boring, just plain old tuxedo, and it doesn't have to be this amazing, beautiful ball gown that Billy had worn."
Because he doesn't really design for men, he designs for women. And he said "this would be the first I would do this." And I said "then that's great! It'll be the first!" And he definitely had never designed for a plus sized man, so we were checking all these boxes off.
So my idea was if someone in 1920 went to an award show but was trying to wear a vintage Victorian or Edwardian outfit to honor a vintage look. So the hair was 1920s. The hair was done by Connie, who was my hair person in What We Do In the Shadows, who helped me originate the original look for Guillermo.
And Romie--who's my best friend since third grade--is my makeup artist, and she did my makeup for the Oscars and makeup for a lot of the events I go to.
And it was just amazing, you know. That outfit...oh my god. Vogue ran it, they got so many likes, it was on every social [media] outlet, and it did so well that last fall, for the first time, [Christian] had a men's line. And I can't help but wonder if it was a coincidence, if it had anything to do with my "how about we try this experiment!"

This beautiful vintage-inspired look for the Oscars was Harvey's first red carpet collaboration with Christian Siriano and landed him on nearly every best dressed list for the event. The metallic brocade tuxedo gown and bell hem trouser were included in Siriano's Fall 2023 line, and are available to order on his website (for a hefty price) as separate pieces in sizes up to a size 30 (58 bust, 60 waist).
Harvey (continued): Christian's been great, and of course he would make amazing pieces for menswear, of course he would!
We collaborated on a lot of things. For the Critic's Choice award we did a really cool cut, which was like a midriff cut with a peek-a-boo of belly. Because you know, I like my body, and I can show it off! And he did it in a way where I was like "woah!" It elongated my leg and it had a peek-a-boo of a little bit of tummy, and it had a neckline that plunges. So it shows your chest, and it's mesh, and then this giant bow on the side that you can take off or put on.

This red carpet look Harvey wore for the Critic's Choice Awards is one of my personal favorites. It feels like plus size people are always being urged to both cover up as much as possible and make ourselves as small as possible. But this outfit stares those demands in the face and says "Why though? Fuck that! Show yourself off and take up space!"
Harvey (continued): It got so many compliments on the carpet! And it's to a T a Christian look, but also very much me, because we collaborated in what that would look like and how I want that on my body, how it looks on my body, because what looks good on me may not look good on someone else. But it's knowing what your best assets are and what you're showing off, and what you want to show off. Because that's what's going to make you feel the most comfortable, when you're showing off something that you love about yourself.
Samantha: That's literally what I tell my clients! You feel the best you've ever looked in your life when everything just fits you perfectly and shows off the best parts of your body that you like the most. It's not about hiding, it's about amplifying.
Harvey: Yeah, exactly.

Flight in Invincible
[AS USUAL MAJOR SPOILERS INVINCIBLE SEASON 1]
The way that flying is portrayed, both thematically and stylistically, is really interesting. When Mark Grayson (soon to be hero, Invincible) is first presented with the idea of flight on-screen it is shown to him as an extreme convenience, and why wouldn't it be? Nolan and Debbie are FLYING to Berlin to get breakfast, and he just wants some sausages. That is this teenager's biggest worry right now.

Even when we see Mark get his powers for the first time (throwing a trash bag all the way to London) he isn't truly excited until he learns to fly for the first time, via jumping off the roof of his own house. This obviously ends badly when he doesn't know how to stop himself, floats out into space, passes out, and crash-lands into asphalt. It goes horribly, which alongside his terrible lesson with his dad, reinforces that he is going to put in a lot of work to live up to Omniman.
When he does get slightly more comfortable with flight he goes out to find a villain to beat up, and even just searching for the source of the crime he causes massive damage just flying into random bullshit. When he DOES fight Titan he flies through fences and signs, smashing into brick walls, before finally taking the guy down. He is literally unaware that just with his fast flight and invulnerability he can cause MASS property destruction. When his father catches him doing this he points this out, and Mark lashes out at him, saying that all he wants to do is be like him. He is using his powers to try, with all his might, to be like his dad.
The morning of his first lesson with his dad, we get the BAREST piece of insight into how Viltrumite flight works: telling him that Viltrumites don't need to pivot on their feet but can physically push off of anything, even empty air, and that Viltrumites can "freely move themselves through physical space." The way Mark moves in the air is also very interesting, he wobbles in the air, as if physically struggling to HOLD his position, as if he's like editing his X Y Z values in real time. This is in contrast to Omniman who can literally stand completely still in the air. There's a couple of other shots and animation moments of Omniman (especially in the last couple episodes) that really emphasize just how WEIRD and ALIEN he looks when he flies. It's unnerving, and that feeling really contributes to how scary he is.

When Mark meets another superhero his age, he is full of relief. They have a talk about what it's like to actually BE superheroes on the field and we have this brief flying montage with him and Atom Eve together. Where Mark actually has someone to RELATE to, someone to teach him more about superhero-ing (without also y'know... being his dad.)
I've seen someone talk about this comparison before (if someone can tell me who it was I will edit this to credit them) but look at the way that Eve flies. She propels herself using energy from her powers. She flies like a plane, literally burning fuel to push herself through the air. She flies like, well like a HUMAN would. While Mark just floats there like a freakin' alien.

But there's more to flight than demonstrating how weird Viltrumites are: there's also an emotional element. When Debbie finds her son, Mark, practicing his flight landings and repeatedly smashing into the ground they have a little emotional mom-and-son talk. She says to him that when he was young it was just the two of them together while Nolan went on all these crazy superhero adventures, but now that Mark has gotten his powers she is left completely alone. She says "I can't talk to you while we soar through the clouds, but I'm still here." Mark just got his powers and already there is an emotional barrier between them, demonstrated through the analogy of flight.
Later on when Debbie is pouring out her emotions to Nolan, telling him about all the stress she feels over the death of the Guardians, her son, and her husband she says: "I feel like we're standing on the edge of a cliff, and I'm the only one of us who can't fly." Flight represents an emotional separation. A layer of suppression between the superheroes and normal regular folk.
Even in the last battle between Nolan and Mark, Debbie is relegated to the sidelines, both physically and emotionally. She is forced to watch on a TV SCREEN as the two most important people in her life fight to the death. Forced to watch her husband dismiss her relevance, dismiss the life she spent with him, dismiss her as "a pet" due to her relatively short lifespan in comparison to him. It is absolutely devastating.

And in one of the last scenes of the whole show, when Mark returns to his home after TWO WEEKS in the hospital, the SECOND they have privacy Mark floats into the air and starts to hover. It's comfortable for him now, flying is his natural resting state, it's literally EASIER than standing. Not only does it serve to show us how much Mark has developed his control of his powers, but also as a reminder that he will NEVER be like a regular human. A reminder that he will always be like his father.

Reaching into the bucket, he picked out a chit. 
“Get yourself a man who looks at you the way Isagi stares at the field” 
“I do have to analyze the field before making any moves. Football is not just a sport about the ball, it depends on strategy as well.” 
“The cameraman and I can agree that Isagi’s ass is cake.” 
“Cake?” Isagi asked, confused. “It means a well figured rear.” one of the  crew members said, causing Isagi to go wide eyed, a blush spreading through his cheeks. 
“W-Well, I did workout at the gym and trained on the field along with diet control. I’ll probably do more story updates on what I eat during the day and night on my instagram.” he replied with an awkward smile. 
“I like how Isagi is like a cute blueberry muffin I’d like to wrap in my blanket, but the moment he has his hair up, I am ready to ride him.” 
*silence* 
“I uhm… that is quite interesting… but the only one I’d allow to ride me is my partner.” he said, clearing his throat. “Pretty sure, my mom is watching and recording this.” 
“Isagi in a suit with those thick thighs. Thank you for coming to my ted talk.” 
“That was a rather short talk, but the pants for that suit had to be redone so many times. It was a nightmare.” he sighed. 
“Isagi could take me on the field any day and all I would say is ‘thank you sir.’ “ 
“If you want to play football, let’s schedule a match with time and place. I’ll be there.” he said, pointing at the camera with a smile. 
“If Isagi kicked me like a football, I’d ask him to do it over and over again.” 
“I’m not so sure about that.” he answered with an awkward chuckle. “The studs on my shoe are used to dig into the ground… Can’t begin to imagine the damage it would do to a person’s face.” 
“If I were to ever shake hands with Isagi, I would never wash my hands.” “Rather unhygienic, but very tame compared to the previous tweets.” he said with a smile. 
“My ideal weight is Isagi on top of me.”
“Pretty sure I am more heavy and bulky than I look.” he chuckled, crumpling the paper and tossing it to the side. 
“That was all?” he asked, peering into the empty mug that had chits. 
“Yeah.” the crewmen answered.

“It never ceases to amaze me that Itsohi Rin can look so flawless yet fuckable.”
“An indirect alliteration in English I suppose? If my stylist didn’t do the job right, he would’ve been fired by now.” he replied, reaching into the  mug to open another chit.
“Itoshi Rin is all it takes to become wet down under.” 
“You get tempted with a name? Pathetic.” he said, crumpling the paper, throwing it behind him. 
“Itoshi Rin could slam me into a wall and whisper the dirtiest things in my ear and I would beg for more.” 
“I am not a fan of scandals. The only thing I will slam into a goal is a ball.” he replied. “Seriously, what is wrong with people?” 
“Itoshi Rin can degrade me till I’m nothing but trash, it’s the only validation I need.” 
“The only validation you need is your birth certificate and citizenship documents,” he answered. 
“I’d be happy to be choked to death by the sexy, veiny hands of Itoshi Rin.” 
“It would end up being a lawsuit and my lawyer had other important matters to attend to, and neither do I want to.” he sighed, eyebrows pinched while crumpling the paper. 
“Itoshi rin is good at insults, might have a thing for humiliation.” 
“Disgusting.” he said, face contorting into a deep snarl with a frown. 
“Itoshi Rin makes me want to learn Yoga. Can he teach me to bend in more ways than one? It would be helpful for future dates.” “I told Matteo to not take pictures for my account, but obviously the fool didn’t listen. Link to my yoga instructor’s  account can be found in the post on my social media. Use that as a reference and leave me alone.” Rin said, throwing the paper behind him. 
“I like sunsets, what I’d love is to watch you go down.” 
“What is this. Wasting your vocabulary skills to type out meaningless flirts rather than actually using it in the corporate world.” Itoshi said, shaking his head. 
“It is illegal for a man to look that gorgeous. Can’t deny it, we’d make pretty babies.” 
“Fantasy. Shameful that you won’t be having that.” he said with a tiny smirk, folding the paper in one hand and throwing it beside him. 
“Itoshi Rin with his tongue hanging out is all I have to think of for release.” 
“Maybe Nii chan was right about it being a bad habit.” Rin muttered. 
“There are so many… I can’t do any more of this. It’ll trigger a migraine and I have a meeting after.” Rin said, setting the mug down. 
“Hope to see some of you filths in the stands in June. This has been Itoshi Rin, reading thirst tweets.”

“Oooh!! Puppies!!” Ryusei exclaimed, running towards the said object of excitement. “We had no choice but to get them right?” the cameraman muttered to the crewman. 
“It’s better to balance something cute and innocent with his… spontaneous personality.” the crewman answered, pushing his glasses up. 
“And… we’re rolling.” 
“I’m Shidou Ryusei from Real drid and I will be doing thirst tweets.” Shidou said, reaching into the mug with chits. 
“Shidou Ryusei is feral. I actually dig that.” 
“Really? The amount of criticism I got for that is actually insane. But… good to know I guess.” he said with a shrug, crumpling the paper and putting it aside. 
“Choke me with those thighs, Daddy.” 
“Choke you!!” he exclaimed, laughing while rubbing the chin of a puppy in his lap. “Nah, don’t want to have trouble with the law.” he said, throwing the paper to the side. 
“Shidou Ryusei gives off big dick energy. I guarantee I can make it fit.” 
“Woah.” he said with his eyes bulging out, laughing. “That is some… creativity. I like it.”
“Shidou Ryusei can smash my ass in and I would bend over to say ‘Spank me daddy.’” even more.” 
“Red card for violence.” Shidou hollered, the puppy in his lap barking. “Little guy here agrees with me too.” 
“The things I would let Shidou Ryusei do to me.” 
“The sentence is incomplete, but the picture gets across.” Ryusei said with his tongue sticking out. 
“Shidou Ryusei can read chemicals and I’d take it as dirty talking.”

“Shidou Ryusei can sit on my face and suffocate me.” 
“You guys are really violent today when I’m usually the one that’s told that.” he said, pointing at the camera while a puppy licked his face. 
“It’s illegal that Ryusei lets his sweat drip on the grass and floor when it should be bottled water.” 
“Isn’t that too much salt? Maybe I should take up this idea with Anri chan” he said, showing a toothy smile, spreading his legs out on the floor. With one of the puppies dragging the mug away from him, he looks into the camera. 
“My manager says that’s all for today, folks. This has been Shidou Ryusei, reading your thirst tweets.”

“Is this from the instagram post that Isagi and Bachira made while we were in the onsen?” Rensuke asked, eyebrows pinching. “Bathwater? Can’t guarantee what you’ll do with it, but since you’re freaks, I’ll leave it to you.” he added with a chuckle. 
“The things I imagine Kunigami would do to me if he tied me up with his sweaty jersey.” 
“Actually, we can’t take our jerseys off. It would be a yellow card.” He said with a straight face, tossing the paper away. 
“The only way I would learn is by being spanked into submission by Kunigami Rensuke.” 
“No comment.” he said, crumpling the paper in his fist with an awkward expression. 
“My doctor filled out a prescription, and the only one that I need is a vitamin D from Kunigami Rensuke.” “I’m not sure which pill to buy you, so I’m not the best person to ask,” he said with a shrug. 
"Well... uh. It's been fun. This was Kunigami Rensuke from Bastard Munchen, reading thirst tweets. Think I need a latte." he said, setting the mug down.

While I've been watching JK's live (post coming soon) someone pointed out the rings JK is wearing in his Seven schedule poster... the ring with the ring on it...has connotations in the BDSM world... those who wear it are signaling their submissiveness. In that same line of thought, Jimin was wearing thumb rings on both hands in his Like Crazy MV... thumb rings in a homosexual context...

So what are Jimin and Jungkook trying to tell us? Why show us these things? Are these just stylists choices? I think not. There are too many instances for any of it to be coincidence or just a "stylists choice."
The members are too involved in how they express themselves individually during this solo era. Sexual kink is not really a big deal but why even go there? Personally, I love seeing them express ALL sides of themselves. The hints Jimin has given us are more and more explicit as time goes on. I don't buy the argument that "they don't know what that means." Of course they do. They are grown men. They are not virgins. They are living breathing red-blooded males in the prime of their lives.
The way they are presenting these concepts to us is still very conservative when compared to what I see from western artists. What Jimin and Jungkook have shown us, especially Jimin... is very tasteful, elegant, teasing and thought provoking, not raunchy and in-your-face. I want to say to some western artists: I would prefer not to have your twat in my face so please close your legs. But alas...
And now it is Jungkook's time to show us his colors. For some reason I don't mind his crotch in my face... I digress...

And it's also ok if you don't want to see the message Jimin is expressing. I'm sure he's used to people turning a blind eye on what he's trying to say. judging the art alone, not the fact that we get a new anime or anything exciting like that, just the art alone... it's very pretty!

yea this is very pretty. the kid looks great, small and good, and his hair looks feathery and neat, so I approve. I think they nailed his general proportions, I think they'll do a great job at keeping them consistent during episodes! the image to the right does looks a tiny bit like a 3d asset, which is a bit jarring compared to the previous anime style, but I'm flexible towards this change. even if he looks like a video game cutscene character, I usually love cutscenes!!
but here's the drama I'm sure you're here for. yes, unfortunately, there are some wee things that I don't love as much🤏
the first thing, it really doesn't matter and I should shut up about it now... but YOU asked so ajdjfksksk why did they have to shrink sebs jaw cmon my favorite art of him ever was during the Greenwitch arc so don't tell me I'll NEVER be able to see that style of him animated😫 I just like prominent features man. I know he's meant to be pretty but but but....

these are two screenies of sebster from the teaser. honestly, as ☆luxurious☆ as his lashes are, I'm not a fan of the left image. the airbrush on his hair feels a tad overdone. I love the attention to detail, especially in the one on the right, it shows a lot of love! but there's just something about it that's a bit off for me.
and I think after 24 hours I've finally figured it out: it's the colors.
the realization started to hit me when I saw my favorite edit so far here by @ashxketchum. the colors have been edited to be much more saturated and warm. and I think this is exactly what is missing here.
I even tried my own hand at it, and yea personally, I think slapping a saturation, tint, and just a BIT of contrast on the whole thing can do numbers on it.

already I like it(no I'm not just praising my own work, it's not the best edit out there I did it in 30 secs). I think the reason for this is because the background is very rich in contrast and warm tones, so the characters(particularly sebastian who is all black) stand out when they are muddy and low contrast. I love stylistically when contrast is high, but that's just a personal thing, and I shouldn't hold a studio to those standards.
I tried it for the poster too though, which again I felt was a bit off. official art has never been the most top tear, and the poster is GOOD, the background is awesome and the two peeps looks amazing. but my problem with it was clear once I did another color edit.

again, I feel like everything was very muted in the left original, not to mention a tad monochromatic. I really think a kick of contrast and hue could do wonders.
BUT. I know that at the end of the day, it's not a big deal. I don't really care. would it make my day or whole year if they slapped a color filter on it, or continued to work on the color grading of the scenes? probably yea! but my opinion isn't obsolete, and most of all, I look forward to and respect the artists decisions.
so no I'm not "fixing" the art😅😒.

Big Decapedia poll on coverage
Okay so I've been thinking for a while that we're gonna have an issue with coverage on the wiki, basically because I'm very quickly noticing that a lot of the redlinks are for doctor who stuff, and that it would be useful to have pages on some Who stuff that's more academy era thoschei than deca, as well as other popular academy era fics. However, I worried that making pages for all this stuff would start to change the wiki into being more "academy era fandom wiki" than "deca fic wiki".
Then, I had a discussion on the Dr who discord that gave me an idea. What if we have different sections of the wiki in a way? We can have overarching categories and templates and maybe some stylistic thing too, to make it clearer. This would solve the issue of "do we make separate pages for the Who versions of the deca characters" because we would, but they'd be under a different part of the wiki.
However, this would make the wiki much bigger potentially, and it would as I say be getting away from the main deca wiki a bit, so I'd need to draft up a more detailed coverage policy. I think we'd need to balance the articles and what we link to- always try and have a majority of articles be about the fic itself, keep a majority of links on any given page to links in that category, stuff like that.
By the way, if you want to edit the wiki and disagree with a current policy, please do say that on the policy's talk page. I only wrote what we have now because no one else is there to have other ideas! This should be a community thing! It should be up for discussion! Please, discuss it!!!
This is a huge thing, so, I'm going to make this a poll so more people see it and vote.
NO MATTER WHAT, THE DECA FIC WILL REMAIN THE MAIN FOCUS
Just talking about how much we should be covering other stuff to do with the fic!
1. Yes, we should expand to partial coverage of a couple different topics with different sections of the wiki for them (doctor who academy era, doctor who deca specifically, academy era fandom, deca fandom specifically, deca fic as central to the wiki).
2. We should expand to partially cover some other relevant fics, DW material, fandom stuff, etc, but we should not separate it all out to be different parts of the wiki using the ideas outlined above (categories, stylistic stuff, weighting links on a page to be mostly to pages within that section.
3. We should only partially cover the most specifically relevant directly to the deca fic itself (conservative, what we have on the current policy), and then if we really need to bring up something else we just link directly to it (if it's a fic/fanwork) or to the appropriate TARDIS wiki page (for a book, for example- this is called interwiki linking)
4. You have a different opinion that you will DISCUSS ON THE WIKI please please please can we start moving these discussions to the wiki it would be so so good and useful please I'm begging you.
Sorry, I know, long post, but so so important seriously this is the biggest decision we've made about the wiki so far and will probably be the biggest for a long time. I'm currently talking to a miraheze steward to ask if this would be allowed, and, if they say yes, we shall abide by the results of the poll.

Rewatching Classic Doctor Who, some episodes I haven't seen in years, some of the animated reconstructions I haven't seen at all.
And some episodes I haven't seen since last week.
The Daleks (now in glorious Dalekolour™)
I'll warn you up front, I'm generally not a fan of colorizations/special editions/re-edits so expect a bit of a grumpy post. But I'll try to be fair, I promise.
The episode starts with some extremely dodgy animation instead of the original linking material. It also starts with the intro in color, switches to black and white (apart from the credits which are in color) and then fades in the color and... why? An unnecessary and distracting flourish. The Wizard of Oz did this better nearly 90 years ago.
The colorization itself is quite good, I assume they were working off production documents (the Daleks are in their original colors, of course) but regardless the whole palette is a good match for SciFi film and TV of the era, as opposed to something more muted, moody, or modern. Compare and contrast with Forbidden Planet (1956), Queen of Outer Space (1958), or Star Trek (1966). The upconversion to HD video (and 50FPS?) went as well as it could, some parts of the episode are soft focus with lots of film grain but so was the original.
The music and sound design however is terribly distracting. Not an improvement on the original in any way, it's wildly out of place both stylistically and technically, at points directly in competition with the dialogue. Also, the Daleks received extensive re-writes and in some cases were re-voiced by Nick Briggs which is.. odd. I do have to admit enjoying the inclusion of the cloister bell in the initial fluid link sabotage scene, however, even if was a retcon.
Some of the re-editing was ok, some was intrusive. Constant cutaways to b-roll as if you were likely to forget something that happened 5 to 10 minutes earlier (or just might get bored watching a take longer than a minute) were a major distraction. Some of the digital additions, for instance adding footage to the Daleks' screens, worked well. Others, like William Hartnell "dodging" a Dalek beam that hadn't been there 60 years ago were forced. The digitally animated TARDIS dematerialization is actually worse than the original analog video mix effect. The pace is extremely quick now, much of the tension and suspense of the original story is lost along with the "Dals" origin of the Daleks, for better or for worse. But all in all, it's all right I suppose. I wonder if I would have been easier on it if I hadn't just watched the original.
The "And then the story continues.. for 60 years" teaser was nicely done. A great mix of moments from the First Doctor's stories including some tidbits from missing or rarely seen stories. Hat's off to whoever got the clip of the Beatles from The Chase in there.
Next up: The Sensorites, for real this time.
