The Exchange That Was Promised: Jaime x Brienne Smut Swap 2024 is here! This is the fourth and final year, so let's DO THIS!

How The Smut Swap Works:

Interested writers will sign up and will then be assigned prompts from another participant. They must then write one completed fic, rated M or E, incorporating one (or more) of these prompts. Fics are then posted anonymously between February 9 and February 11, with the big writer reveal on February 16!

By the end of the exchange, you will have written one smutty fic for another writer, and someone will have written one smutty fic for you.

Similar to other exchanges, if you’d like to participate, you will:

Sign up via a Google form;

Fill out a prompt survey on said form, and

Be matched to someone for whom you will write a fic using their prompt fills.

This exchange will be different in a few ways:

Like it says on the tin, this is for smut only, so all fics will be rated M or E for sexual content. All participants must be willing and able to write something of a sexual nature.

There will not only be a minimum word count (500 words), there will also be a maximum word count (5,000 words).

One of your prompts must be audio or visual in nature — a song, video, photo, moodboard, .gif, podcast, etc.

Due to the subject matter and ratings, only writers ages 18+ are invited to participate.

I can finally announce a tentative release date for JHN Remaster! (I should have looked from the start what a remaster was instead of calling it a big update).

The tentative release date is Nov 30 - December 3 (tied to changes).

The only thing I am now missing is filling up Steamworks game information, screenshots, build of the game, etc. Plus submitting the build to Steam and waiting the approval.

This is a safe-for-work, art-only zine featuring anything from the Jak and Daxter series. No other forms of media can be accepted this time around, sorry!

Yes! Applications will be live from April 27 thru May 8.

How many contributors will be accepted? How many pieces per contributor?

Determined based on number of submissions! The zine will likely be capped around 50 pages due to physical and financial constraints.

What is the contributor compensation (including merch)?

Contributors get free physical and digital copies of the zine, shipping included. Merch will be determined based on the success of the zine.

Is traditional art allowed?

Yes, it must be scanned in high quality (at least 300 dpi).

The Merlin Library’s Merlin Finale 10 Year Anniversary Prompt Challenge

The Merlin Library is celebrating the decade anniversary after the Merlin Season 5 finale left behind one of the most memorable television endings and emotionally devastated all of its viewers as it aired on the night before Christmas…ahem. The Merlin Finale 10 Year Anniversary Prompt Challenge is a ‘prompt’ challenge designed to capture elements of each episode as the 5th season celebrates its 10th anniversary since airing. Each week is dedicated to a specific episode until the week of the finale, where the two episodes aired within days of each other.

This fest runs for 12 weeks, starting on October 6th with the original airing date of Arthur’s Bane: Part 1, and ending with Diamond of the Day: Part 2 on December 24th. 

All creators are welcome to participate. Content is open to fic, art, edits, gifs, manips, meta, poetry, podfic, and whatever else you can creatively come up with during these 12 weeks.

You do not need to do something for each week, but there will be a special prize for those who do. Participate as much or as little as you want. 

You may tag #TML10ANNIVERSARY and your content will be reblogged to our main Tumblr, themerlinlibrary.tumblr.com.  If you are submitting to AO3, feel free to add your creations to the TML_10yrfest collection.

HOW DO PROMPTS WORK?

The themes of each week are dedicated to the episode that aired. You can write fix-it fics for each episode, or fanart related to that episode, or use the word prompts or color prompts for whatever you make. The content you make doesn’t have to be specific to that episode or an ‘episode tag’ art/fic necessarily. 

The prompts are meant to inspire you, not box your creative muse in. You can interpret the prompts as literally or loosely as you want. 

The only prompt requirement is that whatever you create is set in or around the canon era Merlin universe. The fest aims to celebrate the show Merlin and it’s original setting. As great as fusions, fandom crossovers, and modern setting AU content are, this is not the fest for that. 

RULES

You may combine this fest with other ongoing challenges (ie: Merlin Bingo, Kinkalot, etc).

Each prompt week opens from the point at which the episode would have aired. However, there won’t be a deadline for when you post a prompt if it’s from an earlier week, and you have until the 25th of December to post. There will also be an amnesty week after the 25th for anyone who couldn’t post their fills in time. We understand it’s a hectic season for most of us. The event will officially end (and the AO3 collection will close) on January 1st, 2023.

In the interest of fairness, all pairings (or none, if you prefer to create gen/platonic works) are welcome.

POSTING CLAIMS ARE THIS WEEKEND

Hello, all! We just sent out an email with a reminder about posting claims and a link to the claims form, which will open at 8:00AM CST on September 9 and close at 11:59PM CST on September 10.

You can find our posting expectations here.

A few reminders for posting:

Only one team member needs to submit the claims form. It can be anyone on the team.

Any date between October 1, 2023 - January 15, 2024 can be claimed.

To try to keep posting somewhat even, we are only allowing three team slots per day for posting. Once all slots are taken, that day will no longer be available. If needed, we may open a fourth slot on some days. Days are claimed on a first-come, first-serve basis during claims weekend.

All members of the team are expected to be 100% completed and ready to post their projects on the date chosen, so be sure to communicate with your teammates about what day works best for everyone. Accommodations can be made if requested!

We will have a two week extension period set aside from January 16 - January 31, 2024. Those two weeks will be assigned when extensions are requested after posting claims.

Additionally, due to some mod changes and general requests for more time, we have shifted around and updated the bang schedule.

The main takeaways from the new schedule are:

We have gotten rid of our 90% check-in. Instead, our September check-in will be for the 75% draft for writers and a 50% completion check for artists. That will be our only check-in.

The final deadline has been shifted back from October 1 to November 1. October is remaining as a potential posting month for those teams who are already completed, but no one will be required to be done until Nov. 1.

None of these are so strong as the fight or flight response. However, there are times when we seem to be perfectly safe, completely at ease and comfortable, when that urge to run from something sneaks up on us. What causes these sensations? Is there something lurking in the darkness? Why is that man giving you the creeps, he’s not even looking at you? And yet, there is something odd. Something instinctual, something you know without fully understanding. We may have moved on, we may have forgotten and left behind those old stories and legends of beasts, voracious monsters, and dark spirits... But they have not forgotten or left us... What We Want The subject matter of parABnormal Magazine is, yes, the paranormal. For us, this includes ghosts, spectres, haunts, various whisperers, and so forth. It also includes shapeshifters and creatures from various folklores. PLEASE NOTE: CREATURES LIKE VAMPIRES, GHOULS, WEREWOLVES, AND ZOMBIES ARE NOT PARANORMAL. Shapeshifters, for the purpose of this magazine, refer to the spiritual shift, not the physical. Think Native American shaman. Paranormal activity centers around the human, not the creature. We do not want stories that involve excessive blood, gore, digestive tracts, and so forth. We also dislike stories with pornographic content. If you write a story with gore or sex, it must be appropriate to the plot and presented well. If you write a dark story, make sure it is spooky. Makes sure it is a story that should be read with all the lights on, with the reader looking over his or her shoulder while turning the pages. Once again, we are not interested in zombie, ghoul, or vampire stories for this publication. No ghouls, no zombies, no vampires. ​ Publishing Details parABnormal Magazine is a print digest [trade paperback format] released quarterly (March, June, September, December) and publishes original stories, articles, art, reviews, interviews, and poetry. Its format is perfect-bound trade paperback, 6×9, color cover and b&w interior. The editor of this magazine is H. David Blalock. Submission Details We are looking primarily for original works. We ask for one-year exclusive print and electronic publication First North American Serial Rights [FNASR] followed by non-exclusive rerprint rights. See contract for further details. We will consider story or article reprints, but no more than 1-2 per issue, and please query first, before sending reprint materials. Previously published interior art will be considered. Stories: We are looking for original stories with word counts between 3000 and 6000 words. We do not accept flash or micro fiction. If some words in your story require italics, please italicize them. Do not underline them or indicate them with symbols. Double-space your manuscript, and use a common font. Times New Roman is preferred. Indent paragraphs 1/4″. No tabs or spaces. If your story has been published before, please query first. We pay $25.00 for original stories, $7.00 for reprints. Poems: Poem length should be from 5-15 lines. Query for longer, shorter will not be considered. If some words require italics, please italicize them. Do not underline them or indicate them with symbols. Original poems only, please. No reprints. We pay $6.00 for each poem. Articles, Reviews, and Interviews: We are looking for original articles and reviews with word counts between 1500 and 4000 words.

Inspiration Zine Update 3

Thank you for your support of this project! As of this time, we have multiple important developments that we would like to review with you.

Below is a breakdown of all production updates up to November 30th, 2022.

Twitter Instability Due to the ongoing issues with Twitter since the advent of Elon's Bad Decisions Bingo, we've elected to make a back-up Tumblr blog to house updates and other project info in tandem with our Twitter account. Check it out here!

Additionally, all update emails will have their contents cross-posted on Tumblr for ease of access. We've struggled to get MailChimp and other mailing services to work for this type of correspondence, but every service we've tried has missed at least 50~ people despite them being in the mailing list and listed as "active" rather than "unsubscribed." We hope that this helps everyone access the info they need with ease, whether or not it arrives in your email Inbox or Tumblr Dashboard.

Production & Proofing As of this time, all of our merch items are now in production and our zines are in the proofing stage. Our Product Photo Twitter thread updates regularly as product arrives. The thread includes photos & video of samples as we receive them from the manufacturers. It also lists any product revisions that affect customers (ie. Tote bag finishing change). The estimated manufacturing time varies by product. Below are loose estimates of when the production for each category of product should be complete. These estimates do not include shipping time or any potential reprints.

Acrylic Merch - 4-8 weeks (SHIPPED)

Music Boxes - 6-8 weeks ( RECEIVED )

Tote Bags - 4-6 weeks (RECEIVED)

Washi Tape, Sticky Notes, Lanyards, Zippered Pouches - 4-8 weeks (SHIPPED)

As our remaining merch items are shipping to us from overseas during the holiday season, we expect them to arrive within the next 3-4 weeks, rather than the manufacturer's estimate of 15-20 days (as that is based on standard shipping times and not the holiday rush). Photos of the arrivals will be posted once they've been disinfected and checked to ensure that product is up to spec. We'll make sure to post updates to Twitter as soon as the merch packages arrive (which will be long before the end of December, we hope).

As of the current time, our zines have been submitted to the printer and are in production. Unfortunately, the paper stock being used for the book interiors is in backorder and we have been informed by the printer that our order will be delayed until they receive the paper stock we need for the remainder of the books. The good news: the books should be done by Jan 1-15th at the latest! The bad news: all standard orders will definitely not be on the way in time for your holiday(s) of choice.

Nov 14-Dec 30: shipping begins (totes & music box orders only)
