Someone I am very close to is one of the creators of this production. I've been really excited about the script/concept for a long time so I want their Kickstarter to get funded! It essentially uses lycanthropy as a metaphor for depression, but...knowing the person who wrote the script (who is an incredible writer), it's gonna be both dark and hilarious. If you can't donate, please share! And for those not in the local area who wouldn't be able to attend the show in person, if the Kickstarter gets fully funded, they're planning to make a digital copy of it available.

Having a drink and an eavesdrop. My favourite thing about local theatres like this is hearing all people related to the show, to the theater, excited to be able to suppprt each other. I hear that one person has seen the show so many times that their support has actually influenced the performance! I really wish that I lived in an area with this community... and then I realise I im getting one in the local metal community. I guess I'm just greedy I want more of them.

I am so (not) sorry for the person I’ll become when I can reblog gifs from The Menu without spoilers. Truly, my favorite film genre begins with “Wouldn’t it be fucked up if…”, and I hope it never ends.

one thing that I hope occurs in the impending film and tv industry freeze because of the strikes is I hope theaters (especially local ones bc fuck big corporate chain theaters) start just. showing old movies. I’m so serious.
For a very long time theaters used to re-run films regularly and considering the great risk to theaters it would really be beneficial if they just re-ran some old classics or even new ones- and I tell you I would love nothing more than to see a bunch of old films in a theater setting like can you imagine what a blast that’d be?
so anyway I haven’t a clue how to implement this but honestly petition local theaters to do this it’d be literally so fucking cool

Okay I don't normally do this but guys.
Go watch Janken Musical.
youtube
It's a parody musical done by the Israeli anime community, but it's just so catchy and good, with suprisingly heartfelt themes and characters and professional-level choreography and singing!
And while it's in Hebrew, there are English subtitles created by the original writers, and they're both extremely accurate and could be sung along with the melody!
It follows themes of hard work vs natural talent, of bullying in school, and of friendship and leadership, and it has the ONLY case I found of the childhood friends-to enemies-to lovers trope that I actually felt was resolved in a healthy way. It has a female and male leads and their relationship is strictly platonic.
It's about rock-paper-scissors.
It's been one of my biggest fandoms for the last year and a half, and now that it's out online I can finally share it with the world. If you about 1:39 minutes to watch a silly musical about rock paper scissors, I promise you this is worth your time.

Forever shook. This was my first ever experience with spring awakening, and I really didn't know what to expect. Beautiful production and reinterpretation. Amazing acting and singing so much young talent I was in awe!!!

Y’all, high school musicals are so fun. I just went to see my friends at another school’s production of Matilda to watch Them Only as they made the world’s funniest choices in the ensemble and enjoyed every second, even when the mics weren’t on at the right time (or capped out, Matilda’s mom sure was Loud). There were some absolute standouts, Ms. Honey, Trunchbull, and Lavender were awesome. Basically uh go to your local high school’s show even if you have no connection to them at all, they probably need the money and you’ll have a night to either enjoy or criticize if you’re a hateful person I guess hfgdjfhd

i feel like because successful actors are more visible in the public eye than other artists people don't internalize how fucking difficult it is to be a professional actor in the same way it is to be like a famous painter or any other artist anyway literally i don't care if you're a nameless rando who played police officer #2 in single episodes of tv shows nobody watches for their whole career if you make a living as an actor you deserve for someone to hand you a bouquet of roses and a trophy every time you cross the street and also i love you

see while i understand the sentiment behind this post, I think this person might just not be going to good local theater because "it's almost always bad" is the least accurate sentiment I've ever read about local theater groups

This probably isn’t Anything, but I’m starting to get really annoyed at the way people will talk about “bad/amateur” art being necessary for creativity to thrive, but at the same time like... being really smug and condescending about it.  Like they can’t stop themselves from stressing how “bad” the art is, but still indulging it.  It’s very much the same energy as somebody who looks at a modern art piece and says, “Well, my kid could have done that, but I guess it’s still impressive in its way.”

If you ever hear me mumbling about the surgery scar on the back of Phil’s neck do not approach me. I need space to be absolutely hysterical. Come back in 3-5 business days and I’ll be good but in the meantime I need to lie facedown on a carpeted surface undisturbed
