i wrote a play called BOY MY GREATNESS about the lives of shakespeare’s boy players. it’s a sweet, funny, and heartbreakingbackstage drama about growing up, gender, queerness, first love, and the ethics of child acting. it goes up march 8-16th in NYC and if you like shakespeare or queer art check it out! it’s a truly magical piece of theater.

Shoutout to Christine Stoddard, my amazing friend and collaborator! ❤️ She wrote and directed Mi Abuela, Queen of Nightmares, which just finished its run at The Tank in NYC. What a theatrical gem! 🤩 I edited the story and poems featured in this play, and seeing her words come to life was glorious. ✨ As the founding editor of Quail Bell Magazine, she always has been an innovator and all-around great person. 💖

Someone I am very close to is one of the creators of this production. I've been really excited about the script/concept for a long time so I want their Kickstarter to get funded! It essentially uses lycanthropy as a metaphor for depression, but...knowing the person who wrote the script (who is an incredible writer), it's gonna be both dark and hilarious. If you can't donate, please share! And for those not in the local area who wouldn't be able to attend the show in person, if the Kickstarter gets fully funded, they're planning to make a digital copy of it available.

MY FRIEND WROTE A PLAY AND IS TRYING TO GET IT PRODUCED
My friend is a Shakespearean scholar as well as a playwright and has written a play based on his works. (I am like 75% sure they've based it on As You Like It, but they are much smarter than me so I don't know.) It's their second complete play, and hopefully will be the second play to be fully produced.
If you or someone you know is a small theater company that does independent plays based on Shakespeare's works, HIT ME UP and I'll put you in contact.

A new show. Its very first reading. What to be a part of the magic? Come see Project: Library!
🚨Please note: this staged reading will not be posted online… in this iteration 😉 🚨So if you want to be part of the fun, you’ll have to check out our linktree for tickets! 🎟️
📕What happens when you don’t return a book for twenty years? You owe the library a million dollars. Based on the popular web-series of the same name, this musical is the story of a run-down library and the lengths taken to try and save it.

A Fresh Hot Flavors skirt for every TMA entity (except extinction, shh)
This took me...like two entire days to put all these together lmao. I made them all on Shuffles, so you can go check them out over there if you wanna see the sources for the rest of the outfit pieces.
I think The Spiral was the most fun to make. I just kept adding colorful junk. Ideal.
Also gotta mention the skirt for The Desolation is our Desert Sunset maxi made in collaboration with @mayakern!

i am so nervous about this year's fundraiser but also so excited i can't stand it!!! Tiptree means so much to me as a trans/queer person, and being able to also bring attention to Isabel Fall at the same time while ALSO being able to do something concrete for my community? the dream.
we're already a third of the way to our fundraising goal just from folks who can't attend in person that donated to get a recording of the play. i am so beyond proud of our cast and their hard work. i really hope we get a good meatspace turn out, because they deserve to hear that applause.
anyway enough being vulnerable on main!! back to shitposting about owls

Too fatigued to spend much time on here last week, but an update, finally.
Went out to my first Theatre rehearsal yesterday since March, 2020, for the same play as I had that month -- Dean Haspiel's The War of Woo -- postponed 2.5 years due to COVID. Berit and I are still designing some of it.
But first, I hads me another 2-hour biologic infusion of Inflectra -- which I'm hoping turns out to be the potential miracle drug that will help me as theorized, but it takes, on average, 30 weeks to kick in, and I'm on week 6. So, right now, I'm still mostly messed up in mind and body; at about 25-40% of normal ability, depending.

(picture actually from previous infusion, but they're all the same)
Quite frankly, my health has gotten even more in the way of my work recently, and I've actually screwed up two gigs in the past couple of weeks due to my inability to fully function (which I've never done before in my life!). So frankly, yesterday was a bit of a test to see how much a day's worth of activity away from my bed would take me out. I was honestly worried I wouldn't be able to pull off what I needed to for this show.
Berit says, proof of concept achieved: difficult as hell, but I got through it. I should be able to handle two days in the space supervising the light and sound design this coming week.
Even better, last night was the first time in almost three years B&I got to see some of the Life With Althaar company in person! We missed them so much! These pictures are from playwright Dean [creator of the Althaar logo; "The Weasel"] the night before, but it's pretty much the same as last night:

(in the left picture Phil Cruise [Althaar writer; "Cpl. Dormer] clearly directs while understudies Derrick Peterson ["Xtopps"] and Eli Ganias ["H.F."] sit and stand behind him; in the right, Phil watches as an actor while, at center, Christopher Lee [writer, "Chip"] as Satan and Olivia Baseman ["Amber on the Bridge"] as God come to an understanding)
So it was good to see everyone and affirm that we all very much are coming back to finish Life With Althaar, but there are still obstacles slowing us down.
And a couple of pictures from March, 2020 of Berit in the process of prop building for this show:

(left, B struggles in the bathtub with a fake torso they are using to create a latex gunshot stomach wound; on the right, Nelly "helps" B in the creation of a freestanding noose for an actor)
The War of Woo opens at the Gene Frankel Theater in NYC next week. I won't be there much, but B and some of the Collisionworkers always will...
