I feel like I never see anyone talk about how great surprise trades are as a concept. Sure, a lot of it is trash but as someone who always trades eggs out onto Wonder Trade and occasionally trades important 'mons to me, I've gotten some of my favorite little pets from it.

I've got a box dedicated to people who brought a 'mon over from a previous game because I feel they've earned the respect they have. I've randomly got a Hariyama that came from Kalos that was caught during the release week, and I plan to use it a bit in my first playthrough of Arceus (yes, I know I'm behind thank you.) One of my favorite Pokemon I own is a Charmander that was traded to me in Violet through surprise trade named Left Shoe, and that name tickled me so much I made sure to get as many Switch ribbons on it as I could, and used it a bunch in Gigantamax in Sword.

So thank you, surprise traders. And thank you specifically, Mrs. Moose, for Left Shoe.

But fuck you, hackers. Folks, please remember to euthanize hacked shinies, it's the only way to protect our fragile ecosystem.

Surprise trade on Pokemon Scarlet and Violet

I like doing surprise trade, so I do a whole bunch every now and then on Pokemon Violet.

I especially like giving out

Pokemon Violet exclusive Pokemon like Bagon, Flapple, Dreepy

Gastly/Haunter, Cyther for the purpose of evolving.

So I send these out when I have them, or something I feel like sending out.

Apparently this one is Violet exclusive too, hope it was delivered to someone who is on Pokemon Scarlet.

And so far, I have received about 5 of infamous hacked Pokemon in return.

When I first saw the receipt of a Pokemon with a strange name, I looked up on Google what it was and some Reddit page I think was full of comments like "now your machines are hacked, your entire game data will be deleted. You have to plug off your machine, change your network password, HDMI cable, router, throw away your SWITCH".... which almost made me panic.

But then thought, wait a second, even malware and computer virus would not go in that far... HDMI cable? What?

And I continued to read through and learnt that so long as I do not use those Pokemon in public battles or competitions, my devices will not crash or I will not get sanction from Nintendo, but if you use them in public places, you might be considered cheating and might get a punishment - is the maximum you might get, apparently.

I release all these Pokemon just in case after taking a screenshot, so I do not possess them anymore but just to share with you what they look like.

I thought the starters do not have a shiny version? Maybe there are. This Fuecoco seems to be a shiny one. I cannot tell though...

Anyhow, apparently receiving a hacked or modified Pokemon will not destroy your devices or delete all your game files that they say. Good to know!?

For Halloween, I am planning on doing a sort of event in Pokemon Sword and Sheild. I use those games because it's the most recent games I have. I plan to breed/catch a bunch of Halloween-based Pokemon and mass-send them through surprise trade near Halloween. Pumpkaboo and Gourgeist are the main candidates. I may add Mimikyu and the Litwick line too. I'll give more details as they come

Alright, the hacked shinies are starting to hit below the belt. They're giving me shinies i actually want but don't want to keep because their names are hacked pokemon website names.

I got a shiny hisuian zorua and it's pissing me off that i had to let it go because it's name was pokez.gg.

Fuck you hacked pokemon sites. I hope you get DDOSSed actually.

There are some days where Surprise Trading just goes so incredibly well. And then there are days where you receive thirty freaking Scatterbugs and just want to throw yourself off Glaseado Mountain as a direct consequence of it. Which obviously you end up doing. Because of course you do.

I need some help

I got this shiny Revavroom in a surprise trade with the original trainer being pokegz.com (it’s even nickenamed that) and it’s a level 50 but aside from the not maxed out level everything else here gives me red flags about it being a hacked pokemon. But searching up pokegz.com for research hasn’t given me any results to know if I’m right to worry. Do you guys know anything about this person or bot? plz reblog so other people who can figure out can see this

I was reminiscing about those hacked shinies with perfect IVs that you would get in Sword/Shield with, like, the website they’re from as nicknames. But onetime I got one of those and it was a shiny Garbodor but instead of perfect IVs it had “No Good” for every single stat and I was like... Well played, gentlemen.

All of the obviously hacked url nicknamed shiny pokemon in the surprise trades are kind of annoying but I'll gladly take the items that they're holding before I get rid of them

I've gotten 1 master ball and 4 ability patches from them so far while I look for some breeding rejects

I've gotten lucky with getting an alolan sandshrew, an alolan vulpix, and a froakie but I'm hoping for a fennekin
