i think trust exercise is one of those novels that you find really frustrating the first time through, but when you read it again, you notice all the little details that weave together to make an really interesting, cohesive story. especially when you start to realize what's happening on the page isn't literal. it's all almost kind of like. well what if what happens on the page for most of the novel is a Performance lol

“This was too much to allow her to tell me, when her mouth at that moment was so crucial to my survival that I fell onto it as if drowning, and determined to drain her last breath, even if this consigned her to drowning as well—she might not have been able to handle me if my aggression had not been as frantic and disorganized as hers was efficient.”

Just got to the one page of the novel American Woman by Susan Choi that is basically OC x Patty Hearst femslash. Not that I didn't see it coming, but still worth remarking upon.
