Why did Lewis’ car look so snappy to drive today?

Lewis is running, to use his own words, a “very experimental” low-downforce setup today, which means a skinny rear wing + slightly higher ride height. Both allow for faster straight line speed but less traction on the ground. It proved to be very ineffective for Montreal though, with the rear sliding all over the place, making it difficult to steer into corners.

Why do Mercedes try those setup experiments on Lewis’ car only?

Short answer: At his own request. James Allison described Lewis as a reliable constant when it comes to collecting data - With 15 years of racing experience in a multitude of different cars under his belt, it makes sense to choose him for setup trials, as he can reliably tell whether the car’s performance is progressing or regressing, and where the faults may lie. George on the other hand just got to a brand new team. Adding the pressure of figuring out a brand new car, on top of that, would not be very helpful to either party.

In midtown Manhattan on March 4, Google’s managing director for Israel, Barak Regev, was addressing a conference promoting the Israeli tech industry when a member of the audience stood up in protest. “I am a Google Cloud software engineer, and I refuse to build technology that powers genocide, apartheid, or surveillance,” shouted the protester, wearing an orange t-shirt emblazoned with a white Google logo. “No tech for apartheid!” The Google worker, a 23-year-old software engineer named Eddie Hatfield, was booed by the audience and quickly bundled out of the room, a video of the event shows. After a pause, Regev addressed the act of protest. “One of the privileges of working in a company which represents democratic values is giving space for different opinions,” he told the crowd. Three days later, Google fired Hatfield. Hatfield is part of a growing movement inside Google that is calling on the company to drop Project Nimbus, a $1.2 billion contract with Israel, jointly held with Amazon. The protest group, called No Tech for Apartheid, now has around 40 Google employees closely involved in organizing, according to members, who say there are hundreds more workers sympathetic to their goals.

WINDENBURG 2024 ... A HUGE REDUX & UPDATE :)

Here we are ... After 2 weeks of intensive work :D comes the release of Windenburg 2024, 4 years after the first update and 8 years after the first release ... A long time due bold update where we tried to enhance one of the most iconic sims 4 World ...

We made a lot of work on urban stuff ( mainly ) and tried to enhance everything we could, except the ruins which are a work apart ;)

We enhanced the grounds ( streets, pavements ), the walls, some colors of the soils, the rocks, the textures, and even the fake buildings and houses :D

We made too some modifications such as the kakemono ( we made newer simlish pictures ), the streetlights ( we removed the stupid little posters in order to get cooler street lamps ), we added some textures to the plastic/glossy sculptures, we corrected basic textures we didn't make last time, we made an overhaul brighter aspect, we worked on many details all around when it was possible ...

Even where the textures were already ok, we revised the whole stuff ... Well you'll see ;)

We divided this Windenburg ( Get Together ) update in 5 files :

I don't think Senshi would play Cooking Mama. He would think it's a great game for the kids to have but it wouldn't appeal to him like the real thing. He wouldn't play any actual cooking sims, either. He would play Tetris and Candy Crush.

Tech update: Baku practice

Mercedes are, on pure one-lap pace, around 1.5s off Ferrari’s pace. By far the most time is lost in sector 3, which is where Baku’s long straight is located. Both Mercs barely went above a top speed of 200km/h today.

Why do they lose so much time in sector 3?

Short answer: the car’s straight line speed is bad, due to a number of reasons. The W13’s porpoising issues are amplified by the nature of the circuit. A low downforce, high-speed track is essentially porpoising paradise for cars that rely on ground effect. Ferrari, and to a lesser extent RB, are experiencing the same issue.

However, engine modes are significantly turned down during practice. The Mercedes will guaranteed be faster than 200kph on the straight during Qualifying, the question is however, whether the car will be able to handle the amount of bouncing that comes with it.

Then there’s also a number of unknown factors. High fuel loads will yield slower lap times. Temperature of the tyres could not have been ideal (something which the W13 struggles with a lot), their new reduced front-load wing may or may not be working, etc. etc. etc.

To sum it up: The W13 is too slow on the straights to keep up with Ferrari and RB. Will they be able to extract some more speed until tomorrow? Who knows. Tune in next time, hope you enjoyed lol.

Correction: both Lewis and George did do a high speed run in FP2, reaching a top speed of around 300kph on the straight. However, the porpoising turned out to be quite extreme at this point.

okay so, a lot is being said about all the shitty changes on tumblr lately. i've avoided many of these changes by downgrading to older versions of the tumblr app on android. however, there's one drawback i've faced: if you go back too far, you lose polls, one of the only good new features. so i decided to experiment version-by-version to see when certain desirable or undesirable features were added to the apk. unfortunately there's no version with polls but without tumblr live. i've compiled the detailed results here, in order of most recent version number

NOTE: to get old versions of tumblr, use apkmirror.com, which is a trustworthy, reputable source for .apk files, android's package installers. to downgrade your app you need to uninstall it and install an older apk (not necessary for upgrading to a higher version). a list of available apks for tumblr can be found here

if you use a version later than this, to successfully open a tumblr link from anywhere else on your phone in the you app, you have to unblock api2.branch.io from the ad/content blocker you use, otherwise opening the link in the app will fail. this took me some trial and error to figure out the issue

note: if you don't have an ad/tracker blocker on your phone, I'd recommend Blokada 5 (not 6)

again, disappointingly there isn't a version with polls but without tumblr live. if you want to see a poll you'll either have to share a post containing a poll to a web browser, or just use 27.8.0.109 (or slightly newer) and deal with snoozing tumblr live and having the live button on the navbar, but at least you get the old media viewer and can go up reblog chains again

sometime after the most recent version i tested, the new media player was also added. if anyone wants to test for the last version with the old media player, i can add that to the list as well added :)

if you want a version of the tumblr app with polls that doesn't have live, someone would probably have to mod the apk. i don't know how to do that, but there's modded versions of many popular apps out there, so maybe someone can try and see if that's possible for tumblr. otherwise just keep complaining about the shittiness and maybe staff will go back on the bad changes, though i wouldn't hold my breath on that

oh and if you're on iOS idk what to tell you, you probably have to jailbreak it to downgrade an app

Google has fired more than 50 staffers in the wake of in-office protests over the company's cloud computing deals with Israel, according to an activist group representing the former employees. No Tech for Apartheid has protested the cloud computing contracts Google and Amazon have with the Israeli government since 2021. The group said that Google fired more than 20 employees Monday night, bringing the number of total firings to more than 50 since last week, the group said in a statement posted on Medium. The firings came after nine employees were arrested on April 16 during sit-in protests at Google offices in New York City and Sunnyvale, California, The Washington Post reported.

Going over the S3 trailer

So I wanna just discuss some of the things I noticed in the trailer, most of which you've all probably seen, but yeah.

First scene I wanted to mention:

Did they actually keep Crosshair's armor, just hoping that someday, somehow, he would come back to them?? And the fact that it all the armor seems to be there, even though any of them could have used it to repair their own? Ppl keep saying it might be a flashback or something, but that seems doubtful bc Hunter is in his S2 armor.

I'm also guessing that this scene comes later on in the season, but Idk.
