TOUGH LIKE DANDELIONS, FINAL CHAPTER

Yeah, you read that right. The FINAL chapter is posted. The final chapter of one of my dearest fics is FINALLY done.

I hope you guys enjoy it, because I sure had (mostly) fun writing it. This fic has taught me a lot about myself as a writer and as a person, things I don't think I could have learned otherwise.

Plus, without it, I wouldn't have made the most amazing friends. BIG THANK YOU to @raekensarcher for helping beta this monster and keeping me going. Meg nods, prodding the sliding cheese back on top of her slice. “Yeah. He told me his name is Derek. And that he doesn’t really like Balto.”

“Is that right?” he asks, eyeing the wolf who seems far too interested in watching a pair of animated moose arguing. It’s official. This wolf is weird. This whole situation is weird.

Separated from Laura after being cornered by some hunters, an injured Derek finds himself being rescued by Stiles and his young daughter. In more than one way.

Derek remembers being at the station, he remembers all those fucking people who thought he had killed his own sister. Laura. He hates all of them, and says as much aloud.

Erica hums. “Sounded like you didn’t hate him.”

Dealing with the death of his sister, Derek spends most of his time helping out his family. He meets Stiles and as soon as Derek's willing to admit his attraction towards him, he discovers that Stiles is dealing with his own problems at work. He needs help - help that Derek's all too willing to give. There's something about Derek with his strange, glowing eyes and quick ability to heal that makes Stiles trust him when maybe he shouldn't.

Stiles yelps as he’s pulled off the edge of the field and under the bleachers. He flails, managing to smack the person in the face mostly by accident. His assailant releases his jacket with a swear and, when Stiles turns around, he’s face to face with Derek Hale. Slightly-stubbled, cologne-scented, dreamy-eyed, captain-of-the-basketball-team Derek Hale.

“What the fuck?” Stiles squeaks. Derek immediately puts his hand over Stiles’s mouth.

“Shut up,” he growls. Stiles is glad that the other boy can’t hear his heartbeat right now because it is going crazy. He doesn’t want to admit how many ‘we have to be quiet under the bleachers’ fantasies he’s had about Derek, but they certainly didn’t go like this. Still, it’s intoxicating to be so close to him, to feel the muscle in his forearm.

Derek wrinkles his nose. “You smell terrible.” Yeah, his fantasies didn’t go like this at all.

She looks away from Theo to Liam, who’s still staring at Theo. “If you can carry him, you can knock him out, yeah?”

Liam’s eyes still stay fixed on Theo as he tears his head away to face Kira. “Yeah, probably.”

“You carried me?”

This is what gets Liam to finally look away, nodding once sharply. Red colors high on his cheekbones, quickly masked by his hair following over his profile. Theo drops his gaze back to the sheets.

Summary:

After being possessed by the Shadow - that everyone else calls the Nogitsune, which isn’t exactly wrong - Stiles is no longer able to repress her own desires to spread darkness, fear, and death. She spent her entire life keeping these urges in check, despite there being so many people she wanted to kill, but the Nogitsune showed her the joy of it and she can’t not have that rush anymore.

The Shadow had left her with a gift; an imprint of its thousand years of knowledge. And with it, Stiles can see a path towards obtaining power. Power that will let her indulge in her darkest fantasies without reprisal.

The only downside are the people that she loves; Derek, her Dad, Scott, and the Pack. She’d never hurt them, but knows it’s only a matter of time until they figure out what she’s doing (except for her Dad, who already knows). She needs the pack’s help to acquire her power, and the odds of them helping are low enough without them knowing what she is.

But Erica and Boyd have been kidnapped, and Stiles can’t stand by and do nothing while two of the few people she actually cares about are in danger. It may cost her the love of the pack, but she’ll do anything to keep them safe. Even if they end up hating her.
