Hardison’s whole speech to Harry in the too many Rembrandt’s job sounds so much like Nate if you stop and think about it, but I didn’t even realize it until Sophie said “he’s his father’s son” while there’s a few spots where Nate would’ve worded it differently, I can totally see him making the same speech!

listen i’m going to be honest. nobody asked

the whole reason i’m so invested in nejiten is because they’re the first (non obvious) couple i clocked onscreen. like they were not even on my radar until That Scene in the fight against kisame and i was like “OH??” and i got so invested. because like. why would these characters of all people get an intimate scene like that when we’ve seen no other romantic development between any of the characters, including the main characters.

and from that point on every single one of their interactions read to me as like. they’re not the main characters but they’re gonna get together offscreen (as we later saw with sai/ino, shikamaru/temari, and choji/karui to varying degrees). they’re just going to start holding hands in the background or something. it might get mentioned briefly in passing. if nothing else they’ll get thrown together so they can have a kid like every other canon couple.

and then that didn’t fucking happen and i’m still not over it

So I’ve recently finished listening to Act 3 of The Sandman on Audible. And I was so, so taken aback by Orpheus’ Death. More specifically: How graphic it was.

I’ve read the comics many times since they first came out, and weirdly, I’d always assumed Morpheus did what he had to do, but somewhat… gentler? And that the blood on his hands was also metaphorical of sorts, because we see it disappearing and reappearing a few times until he washes his hands.

Maybe that’s totally my head canon - I mean, I guess he can make people see or not see whatever he likes, so hiding blood wouldn’t be an issue.

But in the Audible, he literally reached into Orpheus’ throat, and OMG the sounds. It just seemed so unnecessarily violent to me. Not because I can’t take it in the right context, but because I just don’t think (again, my head canon) he would need to do it that way? Then again, Neil Gaiman was obviously okay with it, so maybe it was supposed to be like that all along?

I just need someone to tell me that I’m not the only one who had it in her head that the whole thing was more peaceful (if there’s such a thing), and that the blood on his hands was metaphorical, at least to a great degree? Am I the only one who’s been lying to herself for something like 30 years? Whelp…
