OC Fact: Tenley Tych for a large chunk of my WIP plays the role of the 'creepy little girl' horror trope, singing nursery rhymes as she stalks and goes about her vengeange, although in the end she proves more of an anti-hero.

Oh yes Tenley! My fave creepy little anti-hero girl. I don’t have any creepy little girl horror tropes in my stories, but I do have some anti-heroes. Although a few of those who start out as anti-heroes prove to be more heroic in the end.

I suppose it's somewhat appropriate that I finish my novel just after Baldur's Gate 3 comes out, since I'll let you in on a secret - Tenley Tych:

Is essentially a recycled character from a mod I made for the original Baldur's Gate (well, the Enhanced Edition), Tenya:

In the orginal you encounter a twelve-year-old Priestess of Umberlee who asks you to retrieve a bowl from fishermen who killed her mother. She might have killed a couple of them already. Anyway, I felt a bit sorry for her so thought it might be fun if, rather than let her run off to the temple, the bhaalspawn took the problem child under their wing instead.

HEIGHT: 147cm / 4ft 10 inches

PERSONALITY: Dark, sardonic, and some times arrogant, she is nevertheless fiercely loyal and protective of her family. Likes ice cream and dinosaurs.

BIO: Tenley lived most of her life with just her mother - a violent woman who put Tenley through intense training from the moment she could walk. Phaedra also had a drinking habit, meaning that responsibilty for taking care of them both and their also fell on Tenley. Despite the abuse she received, Tenley remained loyal to her parent, dreaming that one day she would prove herself strong enough to earn if not love then at least Phaedra's respect. In the brief moments when she wasn't being made to train or do chores, Tenley sought escape in books and stories. After her mother's murder, Tenley, with gifts given to her by Titania, devotes herself to one last chore for her - vengeange.

12 Years Old (actually still 11 at the very start of the story). 4 ft 9/10 inches (about 147 cm) tall.

Sardonic, grumpy, and sometimes arrogant but at least it’s usually justified – Tenley is a very skilled fighter and one of the most powerful beings in the universe. She is also very loyal and protective of anyone she forms a bond with and is in fact very empathetic, although getting close can be difficult as she uses her grouchiness to avoid exactly that coming across as abrasive and rude. Plus she can snap bones like twigs.

Tenley Tych. 4ft 10inches (147cm) tall.

Tenley’s mother raised her to be a fighter, to be tough and have all the skills needed to survive, seeming to believe that some threat was coming. Unfortunately Tenley never found out what that threat since her mother’s life ended in a stupid fight. It was then she met a strange woman calling herself Titania who would grant her great strength and power far surpassing those of any human.

Tenley is sardonic, cocky, and arrogant in the way of kids who don’t really know their limits, although in Tenley’s case she may not have any. But when her ire is raised she can go very dark and brutal (imagine a cross between Wednesday Addams and Hit-Girl with super-powers).

She likes anything to do with dinosaurs and reading, and especially reading about dinosaurs (these were her main escapes when she lived alone with her mother). She hates unfairness, and is often surprisingly kind, but she doesn’t like receiving praise for even her good actions. Partly because she doesn’t want the attention that would come with being seen as a hero, and partly because she doesn’t think she deserves the title anyway. Tenley is guided primarily by her emotions, good or bad, and not by ideals or desire for any sort of glory.
