I’m gonna say something kinda controversial, but out of all the forms of advertisements, product placement is probably A: the most likely to convince me to buy something, and B: least annoying.
Like, I know nothing about resin or terrazzo, but if I’ve seen enough product placement for Total Boat on Evan & Katelyn’s YouTube channel that if I ever needed to work with some, I’d probably buy that brand.
Lately I’ve been looking to move away from Holo Taco’s products, and a fav nail YouTuber of mine, Kelli Marissa, often uses ORLY’s Bonder Base. They even sent a massive refill jug for free because, hey, that’s free product placement. Now I’m considering switching to ORLY Bonder Base once my Holo Taco Long Lasting Base Coat runs out.
Genuinely, well-placed product placement is a millions times better and more successful than any other form of advertisement, to me; and it’s crazy that companies still chose to use intrusive videos and pop-up ads that annoy the piss outta people and upset a decent amount of them enough to actually prevent them from buying the product.

Bjéar – A Christmas with Bjéar and Friends Vol.1 & Vol. 2 (2022)
Terrazzo RecordingsBuy: Bandcamp I am easily scared. Of what, you might ask? You appear to be a complete badass who eats nails for breakfast. Well… how wrong you are. I often look at full Christmas records and head for the hills. Write about more than one song?! The horror! Well… Adelaide, Australia’s Bjéar has not only challenged me to face my fears… but he is just rubbing it in by releasing…

Preparing For Hardwood Flooring Installation
Tumblr media
When it comes to installing hardwood flooring, there are some basic steps that must be taken before the job is completed. Before you begin, be sure the subfloor is completely flat and dry, as it will affect the installation process. Also, check to make sure there are no holes, cracks, or other damage before you begin. During the preparation process, you may need to buy matching trims, underlayment, nails, staples, and an air compressor. Finally, be sure to give the flooring enough time to acclimate to the room's climate before you begin installing it. If your subfloor is made from concrete, a moisture barrier or raised underlayment may be necessary.
You will need a finishing nailer for top and blind nailing. A compressor is recommended because it can power various nailers, including finish nailers. Make sure to set the compressor to the appropriate psi for the fasteners you are using. Other tools you'll need to finish hardwood flooring installation include a jamb saw, chalk line, and nail set. If you're not using a nail set, you can use a tape measure.
Once you've decided on the type of hardwood flooring, the next step will be to determine how much expansion space you will need. Engineered and solid hardwoods both need about half an inch of expansion space. Solid hardwood is more likely to expand than engineered wood, so make sure you have enough expansion space. Moreover, you should leave about 3/4 inch of space around walls and other fixed objects. While these measurements may seem minimal, they vary considerably.
Choosing the right hardwood flooring requires a thorough research of the various options. The costs of hardwood terrazzo flooring installation depend on the square footage, the type of wood, and the installation labor. You may need to purchase extra supports for some areas, such as subflooring. This can increase the overall cost of the job. In addition, engineered hardwood may need subflooring and additional supports, which will add to the overall installation process. Other considerations that affect the cost include home layouts, non-standard shapes, lots of angles, and wood stairs.
Before installing hardwood flooring, it's important to allow the wood to acclimate to the temperature and humidity of your home. Acclimating can take several days, depending on the type of wood and site conditions. You should contact the manufacturer of your flooring to obtain information about the appropriate acclimatization time for your installation. Also, versatile make sure that you plan on leaving the planks in the room for at least a week to avoid cracks and gaps.
Before attempting to install hardwood flooring, you should prepare the area where the floor will be installed. You should prepare the sub-floor as thoroughly as possible, removing all personal belongings and appliances before installation. You should also remove electronics and put away any furniture in the area. Additionally, the removal and installation process will generate a lot of dust, so you should prepare to cover nearby objects. If you are installing hardwood flooring on top of a concrete floor, make sure the floor is flat and level. Inverness

The Historic Courthouse Museum What do you do with a historic courthouse when times change and a new one is built? Inverness has made a wonderful historic museum in this iconic building. When looking at the courthouse, one may be reminded of the movie Back to the Future because of the clock in the cupola above the museum, but a different movie was filmed here in 1961. Inside are county archives and special collections, as well as the offices of Citrus County's Historical Resource Officer. It is also the site of the Old Courthouse Heritage Museum. Mosaic Seal of the State of Florida on the floor of the historic Citrus County Courthouse. In 1978, a new courthouse was built and this 1912 was restored to its previous glory. To quote the Citrus County Historical Society, “After peeling off layer upon layer added over the years, workers uncovered terrazzo floors and marble wainscoting. Transom windows that had been painted over and nailed shut were refinished and re-hinged. Old photographs of the courthouse gave clues to what the hidden walls, floors, and ceilings looked like.” Exhibits and Activities The museum housed in the courthouse has several permanent historical exhibits, including displays and artifacts devoted to Citrus County’s pre-history and its pioneer days, and to more recent developments, such as the impact of the citrus and film industries on Central Florida. In 2013, there was an archaeological project to clear the headsprings of the Chassahowitzka River that produced a 2,000-year-old Native American bowl ― the only one of its kind ever found intact in Florida – and it is on display at this museum. This 2,000-year-old Native American bowl was found in an archaeological project to clear the Chassahowitzka head springs. It is in this museum.  Image courtesy of Diane Bedard One of the fun things on display is an old clock face from the courthouse cupola. On the back of the clock are many names and dates from the WWII time period when citizens would go up in the cupola to look out for enemy aircraft. Sally White, publisher of Adventures of Mom, and I pose with the museum's historic clock face. There is a new exhibit in the Courthouse Museum quarterly. A recent one was on manatees, including the Citrus County history of studying this marine mammal – featuring Jacques Cousteau and his son. Activities include Music at the Museum series and Coffee and Conversations. A walking tour of the downtown area is available on at scheduled times for a $5 donation. Elvis was Here People in Inverness still talk about the magical summer of 1961, when Elvis Presley came to Citrus County to film his ninth movie, "Follow That Dream." The climactic courtroom scene was filmed entirely in the Courtroom and included many townspeople as extras. When you look at the courthouse from the street, Elvis’ lookalike may be staring at you from an upstairs window. Inside, you may want to stand by a life size cardboard Elvis for a quick selfie. You never know where you will find Elvis in the old courthouse museum. Meanwhile, here is the trailer for the movie, and you can see the entire thing at the amazing Valerie Theater Sunday, February 10, 2019 at 3pm. Buy your tickets in advance here. The Valerie Theater Mrs. Pearl G. Maddox built the theatre in 1926-27 during the silent movie era, naming it the Valerie after her daughter. The first movie shown was “The Only Woman” in 1927; the last was “The Untouchables” in 1987. This historic Valerie Theater shows classic movies and has live entertainment other nights. The building was vacant from 1987 and the City purchased it in 2009. A grand reopening was held for the Valerie Theatre Cultural Center in June 2015. The Valerie Theatre hosts concerts, plays, movies and more to the residents and visitors to the City of Inverness. They have classic movies most Sunday afternoons, as well as a Friday Night at the Movies series. Tickets are inexpensive ($6) and there is even balcony seating, popcorn, and drinks available. The schedule can be found here. Shopping and Dining Downtown Inverness The courthouse square and nearby streets of Inverness house many lovely shopping and dining options. Always good food, good friends and great coffee at Cattle Dog Coffee Roasters on Tompkins Street. When you are in the mood for a good cup of coffee, a custom blended coffee drink, a special fresh-brewed loose-leaf tea or a fantastic meal, Cattle Dog Coffee Roasters on Tompkins Street is my go-to place. Feel like getting a little caffeine-happy? Try their coffee flight, featuring fresh roasted espresso and nitrogen infused coffee. The four little “shots” will pick anyone up and get them soaring! And the almond horns are another of my favorite things here. Along Tompkins Street are several wonderful retailers, including an art gallery, nature store, clothing store and gift shop. Additionally, the Hen House restaurant is certified dementia-friendly and serves some great home cooking breakfast and lunch with special service. Next to the Valerie Theatre is another great place, Nicole’s House of Cakes. OMG – get a “better than anything” cupcake and tell them NatureCoaster told you to. This giant, chocolate cupcake infused with fudge and caramel (literally) and topped/stuffed with Nicole’s patented cream cheese filling/frosting yumminess then drizzled with caramel and fudge and topped off with toffee crumbles. There is a wine bar, salt lamp store, and variety of small shops. It’s a great walking destination. Another restaurant I really enjoy is Motor City Pasta. Although the owners are not from Detroit and I am, their chef more than makes up for the misnomer. The Tuscan tomato soup is so rich, with chunks of tomato and fresh basil – and mozzarella cheese melted on top with two crostini sticking up in the center. The sandwiches are made-to-order and the pizza is baked in a brick oven. Tuscan Tomato soup and a Reuben on the lunch special at Motor City Pasta. Yummy! Next door to Motor City Pasta is Stumpknockers-Inverness and Coach’s, a sports bar. Additionally, there is an ice cream shop with a great reputation and a couple of popular pubs. Parks and Gardens Interestingly, Inverness has several nice parks in the walking downtown area, from Cooter Park (after the cooter turtle – get your head out of the gutter) to Wallace Brooks Park on Dampier Street and Liberty Park, along the Withlacoochee Trail. The Depot District integrates Inverness' downtown parks, Lake Henderson, the Withlacoochee Trail, and a wonderful open-air market to unite the area. Image by Deanna Kimbrough The Depot District was recently opened, integrating Liberty Park and Wallace Brooks Park, the Withlacoochee Trail and an open-air market building with the rowing and boating amenities on Lake Henderson. There is a Visitor Center located at 203 E Dampier Street, where visitors and residents can find out the latest local happenings. This progressive city also has a City Garden, where residents and groups can use a plot to grow vegetables and flowers without the hassle of tilling their own dirt. Inverness has a City Garden. An additional city park, Whispering Pines, is outside the courthouse area but offers 293-acres of recreation from pickleball and disc golf courses to a splash pad and city pool. Many events are held here. Fort Cooper State Park is also nearby, with 706-acres and a national register of historic places recognition. The park is dog-friendly and is located along the shores of Lake Holathlikaha. The fort built here during the Second Seminole War was used between 1836 and 1842. Many events are held here throughout the year, including a battle reenactment. Bike-friendly Community The Withlacoochee State Trail has a beautiful trail head right in Inverness. Biking and hiking the Withlacoochee Trail is easy from Inverness, as the trailhead of this wonderful 46-mile paved trail is located at the Red Caboose at 315 N. Apopka Avenue. A cyclist can ride 20 miles north to Citrus Springs or 26 miles south to Trilby on a level path with amenities and stops throughout the journey. Inverness has been awarded a Bronze Bicycle-friendly Community from the League of American Bicyclists. Sister City to Inverness Scotland Inverness was originally a settlement called "Tompkinsville," named for A. D. Tompkins, in the 1860s.  His brother-in-law, Frank M. Dampier, Sr., is credited laying out the town. Tompkinsville was sold to a firm in Jacksonville, who changed the name to Inverness because the blue water of the Tsala Apopka Lake reminded them of the headlands and lochs of Scotland. Inverness was incorporated March 6, 1919 and turns 100 this year. There are 14 plaques on downtown buildings telling their history to those who will stop and read it. Read the full article

your doorstep calls my name aka soft boys painting each others nails
for @venomondenim 🖤
also available on ao3
The thing is, Peter’s noticed, is that Harley’s always got chipped nail polish.
It begins out as a fresh coat, clean and without a single mark marring the shiny surface. But it doesn’t take long—usually only a couple of hours—before it starts flaking off. Harley never seems to notice, or mind. It chips because Harley’s so hands on, no matter what he’s doing. The likely cause is the fact that he’s always in the lab, and both of them know you aren’t meant to be wearing nail polish with all the state-of-the-art tech Tony lets them play with.
But Peter’s noticed when Harley’s tapping his fingers against the kitchen bench, and it chips off in small terrazzo pieces. Or how Harley will pick at his fingers when he’s nervous, and it peels back underneath the curve of his nail. Peter doesn’t know what any of this means, that he has this knowledge lurking in the back of his head. It’s just another Harley-ism he’s taken stock of, analysed and put into the drawer of everything else he knows about his best friend, and thusly resolutely and absolutely not thought about again.
He almost always wears black nail polish. Peter can count on one hand the amount of times Harley’s had bright yellow or red fingernails. It follows, logically, that this only occurs whenever Harley’s looking after Morgan.
The thing is, Peter thinks, as he watches one such time, Morgan painting careful lines of bright purple half on Harley’s thumb nail and half on his skin, is that he wouldn’t mind if that was him instead.
Peter’s never had nail polish on before.
He wonders what it’s like.
This thought sits with him for the next few weeks, as he watches Harley chip his black nail polish without a care in the world. Would it be okay if he asked Harley? Would it be okay if he asked why it’s always black? Would it be okay if he asked Harley to paint his nails, maybe, just once, so he knows what it’s like?
They’re hanging out after class one day, supposedly studying for their upcoming midterms, but Harley’s sat at his desk with a bottle of black nail polish and is slowly rubbing off the remnants of his last paintjob with a cotton pad. Peter’s leaning with his back to the wall on Harley’s bed, watching him from across the room, his biology exam notes spread around him.
He watches Harley carefully tip the bottle of acetone upside down so it soaks the cotton pad and presses it to his nail. Peter knows he’ll leave it for a little while, so the chemicals break down the polish, he’s watched Harley do this often enough that he knows black’s hard to get off.
Peter takes a breath, steeling himself for reasons he doesn’t even know.
“Harl?” He calls, just slightly louder than the music playing from Harley’s computer.
Harley doesn’t look back when he replies. “Yeah, darlin’?”
It’s been years of Harley calling him darling in that honeyed accent of his, Peter’s used to it, but like everything else that Peter resolutely and absolutely doesn’t think about, this time it makes something swoop low in his stomach and butterfly settle high amongst his rib cage.
“Can I ask a question?”
“You just did,” Harley says, and even from across the room Peter can see a hint of a smirk flirt across his face. “But you can ask another.”
Peter isn’t in the mood to deal with smarmy Harley James Keener attitude right now. Too focused on the fact that this is finally his chance to figure out Harley just a little bit more.
“Why do you wear nail polish?”
He can tell Harley wasn’t expecting that particular question in the way his shoulders tense and he goes still.
But this is Harley—Harley should know why he’s asking.
“I don’t mean it in a bad way,” he rambles anyways, because Harley still hasn’t said anything. “I just wanted to know, you don’t have to tell me, like you’ve done it the entire time we’ve known each other, I think it’s cool—”
“Peter, darlin’,” Harley interjects, fond amusement colouring his voice. “Calm down.”
Peter takes a breath, lets it out. “Sorry.”
“Nothing to apologise for, I just wasn’t expecting you to ask.”
Peter’s shoulders slump when Harley remains quiet for the following minute, only for Harley to get up from his desk and make his way over towards the bed, settling in amongst Peter’s textbooks and worksheets and the green bedsheets.
“Because my dad always hated it,” is what Harley eventually says.
“Oh.”
It’s kind of half the answer Peter was expecting. He knows enough, between Tony and what Harley’s told him, to connect the dots.
“I’m sorry.”
“Darlin’,” Harley says, looking at him with those sea-blue eyes. “You gotta stop apologising for stuff that ain’t your fault.”
Peter flushes. “Do you think you could paint mine? I’ve never done it before.”
“I’m guessin’ you wouldn’t want black though, right?”
“Do you have any pastels?” Peter asks, in a smaller voice than he means to.
Harley nods. “I’m sure I’ve got some somewhere, I usually save ‘em for Morgan or Abby.”
Harley stands up to go find them, and Peter starts nervously playing with the fraying hem of his hoodie. It’s a faded red and too large and has Rose Hill High scrawled across it in big block letters and not his hoodie at all.
This is when it clicks—the oh moment in his head, that maybe he likes Harley just a bit more than friends should.
Harley returns in the midst of this revelation, setting the handful of coloured polishes down on his bedside table, clinking as the glass bottles knock against each other.
Peter wonders how his world hasn’t been tipped upside down and come to a grinding halt, too.
“This was all I could find,” Harley says, sitting across from him on the bed. “Gonna look like you dipped your hand in a bag of Easter eggs.”
He’s right—there’s pale pinks and blues and yellows like right out of a candy store, but Peter loves them.
“No, it’s fine. They’re nice colours.”
Harley smiles at him, bright and beautiful, and Peter has to marvel, just a bit how he didn’t realise before the depth of his feelings.
“Give me your hand.”
Peter holds his hand out for Harley to take. They’ve held hands before—Peter’s a tactile person—but there’s something new about this, the way Harley gently twists his fingers around so he can paint them comfortably and correctly.
“What colour do you want me to start with?” Harley asks, quiet, his voice barely a rumble in his chest.
Peter looks up at him. Harley’s looking down at his hand and back at the colours on the table every now and again, like he’s thinking of the perfect pattern for Peter’s nails. It’s late afternoon, and the sun is starting to set; it floods the room in a wash of orange-gold, and in the sunlight Harley glows. The freckles across his nose, the faint blonde in his hair gilded and shining, and the clear crystal of his eyes, hidden ever so slightly beneath gold eyelashes. It makes Peter a little breathless, just looking at him.
“You chose,” Peter finally says, maybe a little but too long after Harley asked. “You know more than me.”
Harley sweeps the pad of his thumb over Peter’s fingernail, just enough that it catches amongst the groves of his fingerprint.
“Yeah, okay,” Harley says, and reaches for the yellow.
They sit in silence as Peter watches Harley paint his nails. Yellow on his thumb, then egg-blue on his forefinger. The pale millennial pink goes on his middle finger, then blue, then yellow again.
Harley’s moved onto Peter’s other hand by the time Peter figures out how to say it.
“Harley?”
Harley hums in acknowledgement, too busy concentrating on painting his nail blue without leaving streaks.
“I really like you,” Peter confesses.
Harley gives a short laugh, still doesn’t look up. “I’d hope so, we are best friends, right, Parker?”
“No,” he says, and waits until Harley stops painting and lifts his head. “I like you like you.”
“Oh, okay,” Harley gives a simple shake of his shaggy blonde head, and goes back to painting Peter’s nails with careful concentration. “I like you like you, too.”
Peter blinks. “Don’t just say that.”
“I’m not.”
“Harley.” “Peter,” Harley parrots, finally looking up at him. “Have you met you? Of course, I like you, dumbass.”
“You’re the worst, Keener.”
Harley smirks once more. “No, I’m not. You like me like me.”
“I—” Peter starts, cutting himself off, because Harley’s leaning closer.
“Peter,” Harley says, his voice soft and low. “Can I kiss you?”
Peter nods, unable to speak, and then—
Harley kisses him.
It’s soft and it’s sweet and it’s not at all how Peter imagined his first kiss with a boy would be. But it’s Harley and that counts for something. Harley’s hand comes up to cup his jaw, light and tender, and Peter has to remind himself he currently has wet pastel paint on his nails and can’t sink his hands into Harley’s hair without tragedy occurring.
Harley tilts his head, thumb sweeping across Peter’s cheekbone, deepening the kiss just enough that those butterflies in Peter’s stomach all fly off at once.
“So,” Harley says, after they pull back and the both of them smile like fools. “Do you wanna paint my nails?”
“They’ll look bad.”
“No they won’t,” Harley disagrees, and, because he knows that Peter likes him likes him, says, “They’ll be perfect, ‘cause it’s you.”
Peter leans forward to brush a shy kiss to Harley’s cheek, and reaches for the black nail polish.

Restoring an Terrazzo Hallway Floor Hidden Under Carpet in Doncaster
This beautiful Terrazzo floor was uncovered in the hallway of a house in Doncaster, as you can see it had taken a bit of a beating over the years, but the owners were keen on having it restored. Restoring period features like these are a great idea as they are very sought after and can add a lot of value to a property. The floor had spent many years below carpet and nails had been hammered through the floor to hold carpet grippers in place. Along with this there was a lot of glue and paint Read more at https://terrazzo.tilecleaning.co.uk/restoring-an-terrazzo-hallway-floor-hidden-under-carpet-in-doncaster/ To read more on this topic click here
