For those of you interested in TF2 and sick of the bots, I spent literally 8 1/2 hours last night typing up this guide on how to fight back against them

I got into TF2 through the videos on YouTube, then read the comics all in one day. There was such care taken to expand the lore and the attention to detail was surprising to me. I downloaded the game shortly after and found a great community there, but eventually I stopped playing because every time I logged on there were either 9 Sniper bots on each team (plus me) or a mix of Heavy and Sniper bots. As someone who really enjoyed the comics and the videos, experiencing a subpar game play that I knew would be fun if actual humans were playing it, I was immensely disappointed.

I'm doubly disappointed that there has been so little action taken against this game crisis; I hope this protest will help Valve see how much TF2 means to everybody.

This is a pretty old poster I've made last year, back when I used to do Cuphead stuff. It's supposed to be against the bots in Team Fortress 2. It was inspired by the Mickey Mouse cartoon "Mickey's mechanical man", it was originally gonna have a sniper bot shooting someone but it didn't seem like it was against the bots, just encourages them so I changed it to Heavy hating punching them instead so it represents the normal players' hatred towards them.

Use this as a spray if you want.

tried playing tf2 today, I was unable to, every single server I join is INFESTED with bots, actually no joke unplayable, it's so many bots you can't even kick them

I was 11 or 12 years old when I first played Team Fortress 2, and I remember that this game gave me one of the best gaming experiences I've ever had in a team-based game (Got bullied in Overwatch) and I really do hold this game close to my heart, it was really fun. Nowadays I don't play it because of the bot crisis that started a couple years ago.

And based on on what people from my YouTube recommendations say, the crisis is still ongoing, with the game being overrun by bots, which makes tf2 basically unplayable. And so the tf2 community has made a huge collective effort to reach out to Valve for the crisis to be solved. Honestly, even if I don't play it anymore, I really want to give it another shot if they manage to fix it. So I'm joining in on the effort.

AN INTRODUCTION

hello! Im Hatty, and this is the The Teufort Times (or TTT for short)! This is a newspaper about Team Fortess 2! Here we shall discuss community topics, updates, patch notes and balancing! And some more surprises. Feedback and reblogs are very much appreciated.

TODAY'S TOPIC: SNIPER

For some time, the TF2 community has talked a lot about sniper lately. Some say that he's perfectly balanced, while some say he's flat-out broken. Today, we will be exploring both sides of this argument.

THE PRO SNIPER SIDE:

quick-scoping takes a lot of skill.

if you let sniper throw his jarate at you and then hit proceed to hit you with the bushwacka its a 100% a skill issue.

he has low mobility and a low health pool.

THE ANTI SNIPER SIDE:

he can kill you from across the map.

quick-scoping can instakill 5/9 classes in the game. (and most of the times 8/9)

the jarate and bushwacka combo is busted, being able to one-shot 7/9 classes is not balanced in any way shape or form, specially for a class thats supposed to be weak on close quarters combat.

MY OPINION ON SNIPER:

look, im not an expert on sniper. He's my least played class. BUT, i have some ideias:

DAMAGE NERF APPLIED TO THE SNIPER RIFLES WHEN IN CLOSE QUARTERS:

so, my first ideia is that the sniper rifle would need a minimum distance to deal its full damage. When that minimum distance isnt met, the sniper rifle's damage would get chopped in half. And when that minimum distance is met, the rifle's damage would be back to normal.

BUFF THE SMG'S:

self explanatory, just give them a firing speed and damage bonus.

JARATE NERF:

i really dont know how to balance the jarate, but maybe a 15% slower deploy speed? 15% might be too much, so im not sure.

CONCLUSION:

Well, like it or not, sniper can be unfun to fight against. He isnt busted, and the outcry about sniper being broken was definetly influeced by the bot crisis, but he isnt the most balanced class in the game by a long shot (that title would go to demo or soldier in my opinion).

but in the end, we will always love this stupid australian bastard.

Saw the scene in the episode where Doc gets arched by those artsy Doom Factory villains where he plays TF2 with Hatred.

Funny to think it was 8 years ago. I like to think that Rusty doesn't give a single shit about the bot crisis in servers considering his gameplay. He's like, burning Sgt. Hatred who looks like he's AFK.

It's kinda interesting to me how the Venture Bros. and TF2 have no correlation outside of the Adult Swim collaboration items from years ago + how differently they are perceived now.

The Venture Bros. capped off with a movie that a lot of fans liked. Well, that hasn't changed, Venture Bros. is still great. On the other hand, Team Fortress 2's official matchmaking is kneecapped by a bunch of robots rn and is hobbling along, just sorta barely living on through community efforts.

I mean hey, at least TF2's not dead-dead and unplayable due to long queue times or player numbers in the double-digits to single-digits like some games I know.

Looking too far into this right now, I know. It's got me all nostalgic about older times that weren't necessarily *better*. That said, I could play a match of TF2 where 9.9 times out of 10, I wasn't instantly blasted the second my head steps out of cover.

Plus, Venture Bros. is a show, not a game shambling on with all its vital organs duct taped together. That will keep being enjoyable, can't really ruin that with Sniper robots.

There's definitely a bot tsunami going on rn. And I can't stress enough how fitting that term is, as personally the waters had calmed down: up until a week ago bots had started following me a lot slower, with one every 4 days, give or take, down from the daily follow I was getting used to around January. Today? I got 4 new ones.

If my 8 follower blog has seen a sudden 400% increase in bot inhabitants, makes sense the actual, relevant blogs ones are gonna have it pretty smelly

tsunami really is fitting, i Am a bigger blog and i'd also had, at worst, only a few every day until yesterday. the Lady Bots have found me now too as of a couple hours ago so the flood has Doubled, and they have icons now. we're nearly at 3,000 Bots Acquired, including the 200 or 300 i've blocked already. its abysmal

You know when I see that they give a name samuel James Witwicky as main character name , I though was for like other version of spike Witwicky, and also because sam and James names are common in America and when sam keep exist in film specially in tf2, I just realized that sam is a messenger

I meant he will always just be normal guy but when a crisis starting raise up he the one will lead (not kind lead military and battle things) to the source for Autobots gain victory. I meant let's see he 'find' Allspark, then gained matrix then solve case what sentinal prime hide.

But honestly I like sam meaning names in arabis stories because he got bigger play not just regular messenger guy

YES! I lowkey always liked Samuel as a name choice and love authors especially like Arabis who take that name and run the mile with its connotations and connections in words and tie it into a larger narrative around his role in the world and destiny.

I think it’s also why it’s hard for me to come up with a cybertron name for Sam? Because I think he’d hate loosing that last connection to humanity and his family, and it takes on a greater emotional importance, the last thing he has given to him by his family after all this time. So even as a bot I think he in denial would throw any excuse why his name could work if it’s explained in a way I think a few authors describe names more poetic, like Janus Prime from Northpeach and wolfsrainrules

Or Paradox Prime by Crazyglitch which so neatly and precisely captures Sams character and personality and journey

When I give bot!Sam a name given to cover he was once human I try and think of it like nicknames the bots around him would give him just by association with all his weird quirky stuff going on but I feel shy about using them cause I have a weird complex about there being people who know more than me that makes anything I do wrong or silly in comparison
