alternate versions and commentary under the cut!

it was pretty easy designing a poster for “Take a Vacation!” (which is another cool album by the young veins and you guys should TOTALLY check out my art for that hehehe) but I had SO MUCH trouble with “So Much (For) Stardust” —i had to listen to that album on loop for like two whole entire days to figure out what I wanted to do with it. i have too many thumbnails to count (and a WHOLE page of notes about the album) but the design you see w/ the bubble genuinely came to me in a dream as i was about to sleep. go figure huh

anyway, the bubble popping is supposed to mimic the look of stardust (or, at least, what I imagine stardust to look like), and the bubbles are a callback to the official album cover!! it was actually my first time drawing bubbles, so it was a bit of a challenge (read: a huge pain in my ass. i’m not even getting paid for this, i put myself through that WILLINGLY). all the writing is hand-lettered except for their names (that was in canva LOL!)

also, just a side note, my fav fob album is cork tree, i just reeeeeaalllly wanted to make art to this one.

No bc Jordan/Marie really got me around the throat because despite all of the subversion that's common to The Boys universe I really expected them to put Marie with Luke or Andre, just going off the teasers and first episode. I'm so used to television going the easy or less subversive route, even just in The Boys do they do this. Annie and Hughie are in my opinion perfectly cute and super functional in terms of driving the plot forward, but outside of that their relationship is very par for the course and expected. But they just unabashedly went there with Jordan and Marie and it smacked me so hard I don't even know what to do what the fuck

Like, the way the seeds were there all the way at the beginning but could have easily been left as subtext. The way there was always respect between the two of them even when Jordan was unkind to her, the way Marie clearly got under Jordan's skin but the manner of which could have been easily ignored. The way this would have certainly made good slash fic a decade ago but no it's canon and it's right here I am UNWELL

well tumblr wont let me find the post i made asking about self-care games, but i wanted to say i've been playing Finch and it's actually super helpful! it doesn't quite have everything i said i wanted in my post, notably it doesn't really have anything in the way of plot and is a bit more cutesy than i'd normally want, but it DOES have an energy system that makes me log in every day and do all my daily tasks so my lil virtual pet doesnt look sad.

and i really like that it has other options like breathing exercises and emotional reflections that refill your pets energy, so even if you're having a really low day and can't do your to-do list you can still keep your streak. it has tricked me into feeling like doing basic self-care is a sneaky way to cheat at the game, so i'm gonna count that as a success.
