New Moon at 23º Pisces and 2022 Preview

New Moon in Pisces brings an opportunity to all of us to mutate, to change, shift, see a new perspective. The last two weeks of Virgo full moon brought up tasks to finish, problems to address, order to be maintained, health to take care of, responsibilities to cater to. We move from there to the opposite side to give the situation another perspective.

I find Pisces perspective always the end of the life scenario but not the morbid kind, more of if you were at the end of life would you be doing this, would you be holding onto this, would you be making enemies or showing compassion. Different perspective same problems. Adding color of love and enjoyment to life. Colouring daily chores, making an uninviting prospect into fun production.

I see 2020 as the bridge between 2019 and 2021 - most of the new moon full moon we are in process of right now - we went through those degrees of activations in 2019. Like this new moon is happening close to the degree of full moon in Sept 2019. So if anything was completed, ended, declared, announced in Sept 2019, you will get a new perspective on it now and you will make a different choice. 2020 changed the structure of our existence, the rules we follow of our life that help us decide the forward course. So when presented with similar choices, you would choose differently now.

2022 Next Cycle

Neptune would go retrograde at this degree of new moon on 25th June 2021 so some of the idealistic quality of this new beginning will come for discoveries after that - there will be things we would be missing right now. Neptune retrogrades opens those blind spots to us so we have that coming and we should be ready for that. Some of the demystifying idealism is coming up in June - we would be a bit rosy in March but thats part of the charm of Pisces - live a little dream and creativity is killed if its bombarded with reality checks. But in financial matters know that we may not have the full picture.

Jupiter the planet of expansion is moving into Pisces fully after 28th Dec and it will meet Neptune at yes at this spot on 12th April 2022 which would be a outer planet meet colouring global events of 2022. This is a once in 166 years of divine cycle when optimism hits up our dreams and inflated expectations are very much at root of this cycle. We are seeding that cycle right now with this new moon so a bit of inflated expectations are in. But so are prospects for creative genius, compassion, inspiration, positive thinking, divinity. In 1856 when this cycle was last seen in Pisces - Sigmund Freud was born; Frank Baum the author of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz was born ...Robert Peary who claimed discovery of North Pole was born... I can go on... Nikolas Tesla was born - creative genius underlines this cycle which is about to begin in 2022.

But there would also be delusional leaders, bad intention false hopes and inflation which would come with this. Seeds of that also is being planted now in inflated expectations and idealism. This cycle has deep implications for change in religion and spirituality. Also on weather patterns especially linked to floods, hurricanes - the Last Island Hurricane in US which destroyed Last Island was part of last cycle as was a massive church explosion. This was also first year when the Third Party in US called “Know nothing American Party” fought elections. Seeds of American civil war were grown in this cycle as well back in 1856.

End of March - Mars Conjunct North Node

Mars will be in Gemini for 6 months next year when it would be making a hard aspect to both Jupiter and Neptune. Infact Mars would in conjunction with North Node end of March on 26th March. Words would be said. Last time Mars in Gemini Conjunct North Node was in Jan 2002 - Axis of Evil speech. So time after 21st March when Mars comes close to Rahu or north node and it goes out of bound, it would give us immense energy to get over our fears, its fearless strength which helps us go beyond our bounds but it also makes us go beyond our bounds in words - we can get a bit impulsive reckless and hurtful - be careful of that around 26th March and we would see that pan out in public sphere. World’s most famous whistle blower - Edward Snowden was born with this aspect so you know what I am talking about - we will hear about it in news. But I do expect another Axis of Evil speech from US on Russia with this aspect possibly. Words have power and force and they can be used for intellect at work or imbalance in world.

As I said all dual signs have super power of ability to create heaven or hell - for Gemini that super power is in words. Channel this immense superpower wisely during this time.

Food and sharing food continues to be a recurring motif in “tied together”. What was your thought process around that? How do you see that connecting to some of the central themes and concepts in the story as a whole? (And, if you would like to go into this, how do you see food and sharing food playing out in the messy au where David will also be cooking but in a completely different context/power dynamic?)

HAHAHAHA! I CAN FINALLY TALK ABT THIS WITHOUT SEEMING LIKE F SCOTT FITZGERALD BEGGING PEOPLE TO KNOW WHAT THE GREAT GATSBY WAS!!!!!

okay. im calm now.

so for a couple years now i have deeply and secretly loved the concept of food as a symbol for community. i didnt use it in fic for a long time for a variety of reasons. one, it just never really felt right. two, my love of this symbol is very much connected to my southern-ness, and while im sure many people have just as strong, if not stronger connections between food and community, i didnt really know if people reading my stuff would Get It or connect w it.

i finally decided to use it for tied together for two reasons. first, this is my most definitively southern fic. ive written other fics with Humid Small Town Energy but this is my first that i really let myself go “fuck it. crawfish boils. hurricanes. middle aged women with crushes on jim cantore.” as such, it felt like if i was going to go for this symbol at any point, it needed to be with this fic. the second is that due to Pandemic and also living across the country from the majority of the family i grew up with, i have been kind of starved of community experiences as of late. i wrote tied together entirely during a period when i havent spent time with anyone besides my immediate family, so i was really thinking about community and the nature of it and how fucking badly i wanna have a massive meal with people and hence... this symbol

with the background of my decision to include it covered, let’s get into how it appears in tied together!!

in chapter one, the majority of food’s appearances are... impersonal, if that makes sense? its all premade, whether its drive-through stuff, tv dinners, etc etc, and he doesnt know the person who made it. its also worth pointing out that around the time jack and his mom stop sharing meals is the point they become disconnected from each other. essentially, that’s the disconnect from community throughout jack’s early life

davey comes around and it. is pretty obvious from the start that, through this symbol, he is the Literal Embodiment Of Connection To The People Around Him. food was a really key way for me to show just how connected he is to his community-- he’s constantly cooking for other people, working for battalion, helping people get good food, contributing recipes to little cookbooks. the end chapter also nods to this in the scene w his family where esther mentions he made her teach him to cook for a group, and the conversation afterwards where he mentions that he wouldn’t be comfortable with people paying him to make them food or making food for strangers. cooking for other people is essentially davey’s way of nurturing the community around him and becoming closer with people, so to make food in an impersonal way goes against everything he knows about food and sharing it. the interactions he has through food represent the larger relationships and interactions he has within his community. juxtaposed to jack, he’s built this little world around him filled with people that he loves and cares for, even if that does lay a heavy burden on him at points. if i ever write something delving deeper into davey in this au, i’ll elaborate further-- but, essentially, davey’s role as The Provider of food for the people around him was a real stand-in for the way that he feels both within his family and his larger community.

think of it this way-- in all the scenes we see with davey cooking at a large event-- i.e., the crawfish boil-- he’s always pushed off to the side by that. there’s usually someone talking to him or checking in on the food, but he’s not able to be engaged in the larger hubbub and discussion of the party because he’s busy. it’s in providing food for people and sharing that with him that he gets fulfillment out of the experience. in his family, we see that davey is a little bit isolated. he was growing up at the exact time when mayer’s alcoholism was getting worse and hitting its peak, and he left before mayer ever really managed to get very far into recovery. his time in their house, essentially, was a lot of heavy lifting and few moments of solidarity and joy. he loves his family, of course, it’s just a very labor-intensive process. and then, of course, he has a similar experience to what a lot of southern marginalized people feel-- this intense need to care for and better your community when your community very frequently doesn’t care for you. davey has absolutely zero capacity for apathy in this au, and it definitely shines through with this whole dynamic. he works SO HARD to care for people, even if he isnt always able to fully enjoy being around them and being loved by them

and then, of course, you have the way davey and jack interact through this motif-- davey teaches jack how to cook, gives him a cookbook, invites him over for meals, etc etc. sharing that with him essentially represents welcoming jack into his community as a whole, and giving him a place there. jack mentions davey “clearing a spot at the table” for him, and that’s both literal and figurative.

additionally, while davey uses food as a way to bring jack into his community, jack also makes davey a little less isolated. in a lot of the scenes in chapter 5, theyre cooking together, in a very domestic, symbiotic sort of way. i wanted this to demonstrate how jack relieves some of the burden davey puts on himself and exists sort of Within davey’s bubble rather than just reaping the benefits

i also wanted to illustrate with this how jack repairing his relationship w food keys into this. obviously we have the disconnect that he has early on where his unfamiliarity w what he eats and who makes it represents a larger disconnect between him and the people around him, but jack does also absolutely use food as a coping mechanism and a crutch. not to get, again, TOTALLY gatsby here, but he’s chasing that sense of community and belonging and understanding in the wrong places. it’s once he begins to actually make food for himself and understand the process of it and be able to carry something through to completion that he’s able to actually Enjoy food, yknow? i wanted that to mirror the way throughout the earlier parts of his life that he tried to kind of slap up temporary relationships and make do with that.

side note about jack and food: jack has undiagnosed adhd (and some vague comorbidities rip) in this au, and his experiences with it i preeeetttty heavily lifted from my life and my special brand of fucked in the head. (for those of you who don’t know, carb and sugar cravings are a symptom of adhd, hence why food is often a coping mechanism for us fhskdhs). cooking and baking are processes that have REALLY helped me get a handle on myself-- it gives me an outlet for movement and stimulation, and its something that i can carry through till the end and get an actual end product that i can recognize and benefit from. plus, real time consequences if i let something do whatever for ten more minutes! so thats another element i added to the way that jack builds healthier coping mechanisms over time-- he moves away from food as a crutch and instead develops a new form of CREATING that gives him an outlet and a feeling of productivity

those are some Vague thoughts. i will probably elaborate in the future!

now, for the messy au, rather than food symbolizing community, i chose to have it represent vulnerability.

a quick review: jack married rich, and davey is jack’s new wife’s cook. on his wife, dorothy’s part, i wanted this to shine through in this squeaky clean, pristine image that a lot of rich people try to craft. she never cooks for herself, never pays much attention to davey, never draws attention to him. in essence, she is creating as few weak spots as possible-- she refuses to be vulnerable to the people and the society around her.

with davey, however, his and his family’s livelihood depends on him cooking for this woman, and later for her and her husband. he’s forced into this position of extreme vulnerability and weakness by his financial situation, and cant really regain his sense of privacy or self because of that. its also a point in this story that he has very little time or wherewithal to cook for his FAMILY. so, his job forces him into a vulnerable situation with complete strangers who hold an upper hand over him but denies him the opportunity to be vulnerable with his own family, only reinforcing this idea that he is the protector and the provider and as such cannot have weak spots and cannot, under any circumstances, break

it also really highlights the difference between jack’s relationship with his wife vs with davey and smalls-- all the scenes of he and dorothy eating together are in grand, fancy rooms, with a certain amount of pomp and circumstance and dignity attached. with davey and smalls, though, he’s usually in the kitchen, having conversation, enjoying their company, helping them with menial things. that’s an environment that he’s used to and comfortable with, the kind of relationships and interactions he grew up with, while the stuffiness of his life and interactions with dorothy are entirely less vulnerable and close

that’s just a brief overview, but its something to look for when i finally finish the fic! it definitely started as a very soapy sort of thing, but my damn instincts pushed me to delve deeper into the characters and their relationships and the fucked-up-ness of it all. so, here we are

A Brightwell Fanfic

Prompt: Gimme a starting question, and I’ll give you a brightwell fic that ends with a kiss!

Summary: When Malcolm and Dani become engaged, his mother gets a little overzealous with the wedding planning. The couple is grateful but also annoyed and at a loss. How does one stop Hurricane Jessica?

"Mother, what are you doing here?" Malcolm asked curiously. He wasn't expecting her arrival this morning, yet here she was just letting herself right into his apartment as classy and sassy as ever.

"What do you think I'm doing here?" Jessica retorted exasperatedly. Not waiting for a response, she quickly added, "I'm here to plan the wedding of course."

Sitting at the counter next to Dani drinking coffee, he shared a confused look with his new fiancée then flicked his gaze back to his mother and replied, "We literally just got engaged two days ago."

"Exactly. We're all ready a full day behind," She noted, moving forward with her designer handbag in one hand and a large paper shopping bag in the other. "and if this is going to be the event of the season, we must begin preparations as soon as possible. Speaking of... what season were you two thinking of getting married in?"

"We haven't really gotten that far." Dani told her.

"Oh, no matter, we should really pick the location first and then see what they have open over the next year," Jessica said with a wave of the hand. "which reminds me, I took the liberty of making a few calls yesterday to the trendiest wedding venues in the city and..." She continued to rant as she walked off toward the living room to put down her bags and get out her phone. Malcolm rolled his eyes then mouthed "Sorry" to Dani who just smirked and gestured with her head to follow. Heading down the hall with their coffee, they all sat down on the couch as Jessica looked at the notes on her cell and listed off the venues she had called and the dates available. After much discussion, they settled on the Tribeca Rooftop. It had the wow factor that Jessica wanted, and Dani liked the idea of an outdoor wedding, especially after looking at the pictures of the location in a wedding magazine that Jessica had brought with her. As for Malcolm, he was happy as long as both of the women were happy. With this decision made, his mother made a call to book the location. Next, Jessica grabbed the shopping bag she had brought and pulled out a fancy white board with white ribbons stretched across it, creating an elegant diamond pattern.

"This is the wedding vision board." She smiled as she handed it over to Dani.

"Vision board?" Dani queried with a quirk of the brow as she passed the magazine to Malcolm and took the board.

"Every time we make a decision, we add it to the board under one of the ribbons to create the perfect vision of the perfect wedding." Pausing a moment, Jessica grabbed the wedding magazine from Malcolm and her scissors from her purse. Then, after some tearing and cutting, she slid a small picture of the rooftop between two ribbons in the center of the board. "There. Brilliant." She went on, admiring her handiwork. "Now, let's talk about color scheme." The discussion went on for a couple hours as they talked colors, flowers, and food. The latter brought up the question of the head count for the wedding. When his mom was talking about inviting over 300 people, Malcolm knew he had to put an end to her madness but didn't know how. Then, like a miracle from heaven, his phone rang. Hastily pulling it from his pocket, he answered after the first ring, "Hey, Gil. Good to hear from you, buddy. What's up? A case? Uh huh, of course. We'll be right there. Bye."

"Malcolm, you can't leave now." His mother grumbled unhappily.

"If there's a case, we don't have a choice." Dani told her. "Don't worry, we will finish this conversation later."

"We better. The wedding is in 8 months, and we've got a lot of work to do." Jessica told them.

"Right. Why don't you head home and work on the guest list then? You make your own, and we will make our own, then we can cross reference them later this week." Malcolm suggested.

"Fine." Jessica huffed. "I suppose that will work. Oh, and I want to make an appointment at Kleinfeld 's Bridal, so you need to decide on the wedding party ASAP, okay?"

"Will do." Malcolm nodded.

"All right, go do whatever it is you guys do to get ready for work. I'll show myself out." Then, grabbing her purse, she gave a wave and an air kiss then called out, "Ta-ta for now, my darlings."

The couple stood and returned Jessica's goodbye as they watched her head back to the front of the apartment and out the front door. Once the door shut behind his mother, Malcolm sank back down to the sofa and breathed a sigh of relief, "Oh, thank god."

"What are you doing? We have to get going." Dani said crossing her arms and staring down at her fiancé as he ran his hands through his hair and leaned back.

Resting his feet on the coffee table, he closed his eyes and pinched the bridge of his nose, willing away a small headache that was beginning to form. After second, he replied casually, "No, we don't. That was just Ainsley."

"What?" Dani questioned, feeling puzzled.

"I lied to get my mom to leave." He explained.

"Wow. Thats..." She trailed off, coming to sit beside him before finishing. "one of the sweetest things you've ever done. Thank you."

Malcolm felt her warm lips against his cheek and suddenly felt much better. Opening his eyes and dropping his hand, he inquired, "So, you're not mad."

"No." Dani assured. "Don't get me wrong, your mom was being very helpful, but she was also a little..."

"Intense? Neurotic?" He suggested.

With a smirk, she shook her head at him then amended, "I was gonna say overwhelming."

"Yeah, well, Jessica Whitly is nothing if not a planner, all the way down to the very last detail." Malcolm assured. "And when she sinks her perfectly manicured claws into a project, she really gets into it, especially if it involves me."

"Clearly." Dani retorted, staring at the nearby upholstered chair that currently displayed their vision board which was exploding with magazine clippings now. "I mean, knew wedding's were a lot, but Whitly weddings are A LOT a lot."

"Don't worry, I'll talk to her." He told her as he moved his feet back to the floor and threaded their fingers together."I'll tell her to back off and let us make the decisions. In fact, just say the word, and I can tell her we changed our minds about everything we decided today."

"No. Don't do that." She tossed back. "I like our plans."

"Really?" Malcolm challenged skeptically. "Because I know you, Dani Powell, and grand events aren't exactly your style. You can't really want a fancy rooftop wedding with over 300 people."

"The concept isn't terrible." Dani replied vaguely, not wanting to admit that he was right. "Besides, it made your mom so happy when I agreed with her suggestions."

"But this wedding isn't about her." He argued. "It's about us."

"I know." She nodded, pulling his hand into her lap and sandwiching it between her own. "But I also know your mom has been through hell ever since your dad's arrest twenty years ago and deserves to finally have something good to celebrate. You all do. So, let her plan her heart out and create an amazing celebration as big as she wants. She'll be happy, and it'll make everything much easier for us in the long run."

Malcolm looked into her warm brown eyes and smiled at how incredible she was. He never thought about the wedding that way, but Dani, as usual, was right. Happy occasions were in much shorter supply for the Whitly family than most. They had been since he was ten. So, now that these joyful moments were coming around more often, they owed it to themselves to make the most of them. Needing to be certain about her stance on this though, he asked in confirmation, "Are you sure?"

"Positive." Dani smiled back. "Honestly, this may not be the wedding I always pictured, but there is only one detail that really matters to me."

"What's that?" Malcolm questioned with a tilt of the head, trying to read her expression.

"You, waiting for me at the end of the aisle." She smiled affectionately, meaning every word. It was true. Jessica could do whatever she wanted... release 1,000 doves, dress her like a cupcake, invite all of New York City... it didn't matter. As long as the end game was marrying Malcolm, she'd be happy, truly, blissfully happy.

"Done." He beamed with pleasure before closing the gap between them and kissing her slowly and deeply to seal the promise.

Dani responded in kind, cupping the side of his face with her free hand. After a long moment, she pulled back and stared into his sapphire gaze as she stroked his cheek tenderly with her thumb. Not wanting the moment to end, Dani bit her lip then said, "You know, we should probably do that again... as practice for the big day."

With a cheeky grin Malcolm countered, "Or we could practice for the big night."

Her smile widened and amusement lit her eyes as she replied, "We could do that."

Without hesitation, Malcolm moved in one quick fluid motion, lifting Dani from the couch bridal style. She squealed in surprise and giggled in delight as he headed down the hall and across the threshold of the bedroom. If being engaged was this wonderful, Dani couldn't wait to be married. Starting a life with Malcolm was definitely going to be the best thing that ever happened to her. Yes, the best was definitely yet to come.

ML fic: Almost Perfect

(I have had this idea in my mind all day, and I think I won't be able to sleep until I wrote it.)

A blond man in his mid twenties wearing a Gabriel brand black suit sat at his desk, he put his hand through his golden hair as he was looking through the recent sales reports of the Gabriel fashion line. He was relieved to see that the sales had once again surpassed expectation. His sharp green eyes look through the large document that also addressed expense reports.

It was tough having clothes made in factories with humane working conditions and benefits for employees, the young Agreste had to argue for months with the board of directors to get approval. The old fat cats claimed it would bankrupt the company, that it would be an even worse hit to their finance since the arrest of Gabriel Agreste. But the son of the fashion mogul was not one to simply accept how things were, not after the last time he did that. The Gabriel brand was stronger then ever with the business genius and strong will of Adrien Agreste.

It was a rough couple of years at first, inheriting the company at 18, while still managing his college degree. But compared to fighting Hawkmoth, it was a cake walk.

He smirked contently at the document, the next board meeting will be very interesting. His mental congratulations were put on hold when he got a call from his secretary.

“Natasha? Yes. Excellent, send her in.” The businessman answered with a light yet firm voice.

He was meeting with the head of another fashion brand. One that had been growing in the last few years. Miraculous had hit Paris and most of Europe like a category five hurricane. Second only to the Gabriel line and very quickly closing the gap.

The office door opened to reveal a stunningly beautiful woman with eyes as blue as the sea and bluish black hair that looked finer then silk. She was dressed with a designer suit that was tailored to her made her look even more dazzling.

“Good Afternoon Mr. Agreste.” The woman spoke with a polite yet friendly greeting.

“Good afternoon Ms.Dupain-Cheng. Or is it Mrs. Dupain-Couffaine now.” The blond man returned her greeting with a joke, which was met with an eye roll.

“Dupain-Cheng is fine. Luka has yet to get back from his band tour. He says he will propose when he gets back. If he doesn't get booked on another tour. But you know how it goes.” The Fashion designer answered.

Luka Couffaine and his band, Kitty Section, have taken the world by storm. They hit their big break about three years ago where they signed the deal of a lifetime. Right now he had been touring for the last four mouths in the United States. Marinette had her own Fashion brand to manage and design for, so she couldn't go with him. Luka achieved his dream of being a rockstar with music that was all his own. Adrien couldn't help but be happy for the guitarist, He had everything he wanted.

“So should I be calling you Mr.Agreste-Tsurugi”

Adrien snapped back to reality after hearing the comment.

“Very funny. I plan on proposing after she gets her gold medal in the olympics in six months.” The blond businessman answered.

Kagami Tsuragi was training for the Olympics. She basically ate, drank, and slept fencing for the last year. She stops by to see him once a month to have dinner and rest. Kagami’s skills in fencing had far exceeded anything Adrien deemed possible without super powers. He loved and respected how dedicated she was, though it does get lonely when she isn't visiting.

“If she gets her gold medal.” Marinette joked, knowing that it was pretty much guaranteed to the fencing prodigy.

“Well if she doesn't get her gold medal, I am gonna have to wait a while before I can propose, if ever.” Adrien answered as he rubbed his neck nervously.

“That is Kagami for you. I would expect nothing less.”

The two looked at each other and laughed.

“Its good seeing you again Marinette.”

“It is good seeing you too Adrien.”

The two talked business for a good amount of time. The Gabriel and Miraculous brands were planing on a collab for next spring. If everything goes right they could rake in a very large sum of cash. Natasha had brought the two some coffee and tea cookies as they continued to talk.

After talking shop, they started reminiscing about the old days.

“So do you still make awful puns kitty?” Marinette asked with a smirk that was very much reminiscent of his partner Ladybug.

“I believe you mean Clawful Bugaboo.” He responded with a Cheshire grin that could be no other then chat noir.

They both laughed. They had both given up their miraculous after everything regarding Hawkmoth and Mayura was settled. Master Fu went to Tibet with Marianne and decided to try and restart the order of the guardians. The old turtle had said that if it doesn't go well he will be handing the title of guardian to her, which Marinette said she would accept should the circumstance rise.

“How is Fu by the way?” Adrien inquired. “Does he still need favors that only you can do?”

“Oh Kwami no. Please don't mention that!” Marinette said with her cheeks red from the light teasing.

“Its funny in hindsight. You got that mixed up with your letter. I spent three days in London looking for that.” Adrien laughed.

“Laugh it up Agreste. I am not the only one who did embarrassing things. May I remind you about Reflekta? I am impressed you could even run in those heels.”

“What can I say, I am a model.” Adrien posed.

“Then there was that time you were scared of anyone driving over 10 miles an hour?” Marinette pointed out.

“And you needed help standing up. That one was not a good day for anyone.” Adrien answered.

“Being a superhero was never easy.”

“It would have been easier if we knew each other’s identities...” Adrien let slip out.

Marinette looked at Adrien with a stern look.

“You know why we couldn't do that. Especially after we found out who Hawkmoth was.”

“Geez, sorry I even said anything. It wasn't anything against you or Fu. It was just a comment.”

Marinette eased herself.

“Sorry about that... the reveal wasn't exactly as I thought it would be.” Marinette explained.

“I guess it was too early... or too late.” Adrien answered.

There was a moment of silence where they both looked away, which allowed the designer to notice the hamster tank in the corner.

“You got a hamster?!” Marinette exclaimed with child like glee. She got up and rushed over to the chubby brown rodent.

“Yea, with Kagami out, I needed someone to keep me company.” Adrien answered, thankful for the change in topic.

“Oh man. I am so envious. Luka is allergic to rodents. So getting a hamster has been a no go.” Marinette confessed.

“So Mr.Perfect does have a flaw. I will have to write that down.” Adrien joked.

“What did you name him?”

“Mr. Nibbles”

“Get out of my head. Thats what I would have named him!” Marinette answered as she pet the lovable fur ball. The hamster nuzzled her hand. “Aww, he likes me.”

“Kagami isn't thrilled about him, but she says as long as I take care of him, she doesn't mind.” Adrien explained.

“Well if you need anyone to petsit, let me know.” Marinette answered.

“I will be sure to let you know.” Adrien agreed.

Marinette pet the cute creature for another minute before letting him be.

“So I am guessing you are eager to go to Nino’s Bachelor party?” Marinette questioned with a knowing grin, changing the subject.

“I have a case of water bottles when Kim drinks to much.” Adrien assures. “And I assume you are looking forward to Alya’s Bachelorette party?”

“Considering that I planned it.” Marinette answered with a confident smile.

Marinette’s phone began vibrating.

“Oh shoot, Its 8 already? I need to hurry home. I have a video call with Luka in Half an hour.”

Marinette rushes back to her things and packs up.

“Don't rush too much. I think Luka would prefer his girlfriend late and alive.”

“Thank you Kitty for that lovely reminder.” She smiled with an eyeroll.

“Have a good night Marinette.” Adrien waved.

“You too.” She reciprocated the feeling before the door closed.

Adrien smile faded a bit. He wondered if Kagami would have energy for a phone call. He needed a reminder of how great his life is. How perfect it will be.

“Well, almost perfect.” He spoke softly.

I do love baby link. I’ve discovered through writing hurricane that I do love baby Link though not in that context. GOD THATS SO CUTE I WAN T TO DIE. Link just sitting there in Rhett’s lap happy as can be and Mark and the gang are there singing to him and he’s a little confused but he does love the attention. Rhett spoon feeding him birthday cake is the cutest thing in the entire universe that’s so soft and so pure. He just eats like a little baby bird and Rhett’s wearing this ridiculous birthday hat and he doesn’t put Link down all night long and ends up sleeping in Link’s bed for extra cuddles. Link has a long day though--he wakes up early because he’s so so excited and the crew throws him a party in the morning and then they go home for family party with friends at dinner.

Not to mention cute things about baby Link. Rhett giving belly kisses and he just gets really giggly. He’s so soft and cute and just....Rhett bottle feeding him makes me want to melt it’s just so soft. I do love the idea of Link as baby. I just want to keep talking about Rhett being so soft and Link being cute please.

Dragon Ball 067

This title card is awesome.

Goku’s currently deep inside the Red Ribbon Headquarters, only a few floors below the Dragon Balls he came for, and Commander Red himself. Bad guys keep shooting at him, and they either miss or he just shrugs it off and kicks the crap out of them.�� Also, every fourth or fifth guy in the Red Ribbon Army is a furry, like this adorable bunny soldier Goku just crushed with a table. Is Goku a furry? I mean, the tail and all. Really, with all the animal-people and the kid with the backpack, and the nervous guys in uniforms, this feels like a convention hall got double-booked, and now they’re all fighting it out.

I just noticed the pool table over there on the upper left. Damn shame, but those are the fortunes of war.

By now, the men are starting to run away from Goku instead of fighting him. Commander Red’s really pissed about the whole thing, but there’s only two things he can do about it: Jack and shit, and Jack just got killed by Goku.

Oh wait, he just found Colonel Violet on one of the closed-circuit security monitors. For a hot minute, he’s super thrilled with Violet as the lone hero who’s willng to run towards the enemy and defend her commanding officer. Wait, why is she headed for the vault?

Yeah, so Colonel Violet’s only sticking around so she can blow up this huge safe and clean out the Red Ribbon’s treasury.

And I mean clean. She left a few stacks of bills behind, but I have to assume they were worthless RRA scrip or something. I mean, she took everything else with her.

Oh, and she even looks at the security camera while she does this, like she knows Red is watching. Colonel Violet is the best.

While Red blows his stack over Violet’s treachery, Black watches the soldiers openly fleeing the base. Turn out the lights... the party’s oooo-ver...

This guy rules.

Commander Red still won’t give up. Now here’s where the anime and manga take very different paths. In the manga, Red never leaves this room. In the anime, he gathers his two Dragon Balls and orders Black to defend this floor while he goes upstairs the next one.

Black doesn’t get it, but he complies. He fights Goku for a bit, and doesn’t do too bad, but it’s clear that he’s no match for him. I’m not sure how strong Staff Officer Black is supposed to be here. For all we know, Black might be as strong as General Blue was, or maybe he’s somewhere in Colonel Silver’s class? I mean, Goku defeated him easily, but Black lasted a lot longer than you’d expect from a desk jockey.

Is it just me, or does General Black kind of look like Michael Jordan? He was a huge celebrity in the 80′s, and maybe the tallest guy Akira Toriyama could think of, so maybe there’s something to that.

It turns out that Red’s plan was for Black to keep Goku occupied while he activated a deathtrap that would collapse the entire floor. Black narrowly escapes this by falling out of a window and hanging on for dear life. It’s at this moment that he realizes that Red was willing to kill him to take out Goku.

Red heads down to what’s left of the crushed floor, and savors his apparent victory. All he has to do now is dig up Goku’s corpse, get the four Dragon Balls he was carrying, find the seventh one, and he can finally get his wish........................................................to be taller.

As he says this, Black climbs back inside and asks him if that’s what this was all about. Like everyone else, he assumed Red planned to wish for world domination, but instead this whole campaign was just to alter Red’s physical appearance.

Red insists that he can conquer the world without the Dragon Balls, but it won’t do him any good to rule the world unless he looks the part. So Step One is to get taller, and Step Two is to conquer the world. Step Three is to get the babes.

There’s a distinct amount of chauvinism in Dragon Ball, but there are times when I think it does serve as a kind of social commentary. Just about everyone in this story is motivated by sex, one way or another. Bulma wants a boyfriend, Yamcha wants to get married, Chi-Chi wants to get married, Master Roshi wants to do a bunch of perverted stuff, Oolong wants to do a bunch of perverted stuff, and Krillin wants to get good at martial arts so girls will like him. And now this.

And I get it. Hell, I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t writing this for the attention. Commander Red has a lot of money and power, but he hates the way he looks, and he either can’t get women to love him, or he thinks he could do better if he were taller.

I also relate to Black in this scene. I’m pretty tall myself, so I don’t really get why this is such a big deal to Red. I’m pretty sure Black’s even taller than me, so maybe he really doesn’t get it. It’s an easy thing to take for granted. Nonetheless, Black is disgusted with the way Red has thrown away Red Ribbon blood and treasure on a mission which would have achieved nothing for the Army as a whole. Red insists that he is the Red Ribbon Army, so anything that benefits him personally is good for the entire organization. He then starts to gripe about how useless Black and all the other soldiers are, and then...

Black shoots him. This scene still gets me. I watched this arc thinking I had a pretty good idea how it went down, because they recapped a lot of it in Dragon Ball Z when Roshi explained to Maron who the Red Ribbon Army was. But they never showed this. I had no idea that Red planned to wish for height, or that Black would be so offended by this revelation that he would gun down the commander in his own base.

And it’s amazing. I like the manga version better, because this happens in the other room, without the whole death trap thing. I think Toei threw that in to add the idea that Red was willing to sacrifice Black for the cause, but that’s kind of how the Red Ribbon Army always worked. I think Black understood the risks when he signed on. What really pushed him too far was that Red was making these increasingly erratic decisions for something so trivial. And then Goku walks into the room and Black takes off his coat and throws it over Red’s corpse.

Thats the big irony of this conflict. Goku and Commander Red never meet. There is no big showdown between the hero and the Dark Lord here. There really isn’t a “final boss” in this arc. Goku didn’t beat General White; Android 8 did. Goku didn’t beat General Blue; he got help from a mouse, and then Arale and Mercenary Tao finished him off. Goku did beat Mercenary Tao, but he was always a hired gun.

The theme to this story seems to be that the Red Ribbon’s downfall came from within. Goku’s opposition served as a catalyst, a stiff gust of wind to bring down the house of cards, but he never really got to beat up the masterminds. In the end, their arrogant plans and secret weapons ended up backfiring.

And this is why I find Staff Officer Black to be such a fascinating character. He’s the last guy standing, the eye of the hurricane, the lone voice of reason among all the blustering egos of the Red Ribbon Army. And yet even he hasn’t figured out the moral of the story. He’s standing alone in a nearly empty base, he just killed the guy in charge, and he still thinks he can fix all of this and restore the Red Ribbon Army to its former greatness.

Then Goku shows up. In the anime, Black is somewhat surprised by Goku’s survival, but in the manga, he’s expecting this. He tries to negotiate with the kid, offering to team up with him so they can rule the world together. When Goku explains that he needs to wish Upa’s father back to life, Black agrees to let him have the Dragon Balls, but suggests that they team up to conquer the world afterward.

I like this, because Black (mostly) gets it. He alone understands that Goku can’t be taken lightly. He has to be dealt with here and now. If Black just lets him leave, they’ll only have to fight him again someday. His only options are to defeat him here and now, or make some sort of alliance. But Goku isn’t interested in an alliance, because these assholes got Bora’s dad killed. He tells Black to just turn himself into the police. This is about as close as we’ll get to Goku saying “Call the cops, I don’t give a fuck.”

So Black pulls out a capsule containing a mech, and fights Goku with it. This seems kind of pointless, but as it turns out, he does pretty well against Goku, and like I said, he’s got no other choice. If Goku won’t join him, then he’ll have to be stopped here and now, or the Red Ribbon Army won’t have any future.

The dub has a line where Black plans to rechristen the army as the Black Ribbon Army, which I think is super awesome. Unfortunately, he never said it in the original script, but I guess it would have been too soon to make those kinds of plans. Black Ribbon Army. That just sounds so cool.

Meanwhile, Yamcha’s team is still headed for the base, but they meet Colonel Violet flying away from the base, and they both desperately struggle to avoid a confrontation. It’s a pretty cute scene, but kind of superfluous. Also, this is the last we ever see of Colonel Violet. Well, she’s in Path to Power, but that’s a long ways off...

Back at HQ, “Commander” Black is actually working Goku over pretty good. Maybe he should have broken out that robot suit a while back, when it would have done more good? This is sort of like how Mercenary Tao had a sword and a grenade on him when he started losing to Goku. Up to that point, Tao had been completely untouchable, so it really makes you wonder why he bothered carrying those weapons around with him. Oh well.

Why would an insurance company deny me coverage for not having central air and heating?

We wanted to switch from the local company we had been insuring our house with because their correspondance has always been very rude and they are very difficult to deal with to USAA who we do all of our banking, brokerage, car & boat insurance through and are very courteous and extremely easy to deal with. We were denied coverage because our home does not have central air or heating. We live in South Central Florida so a heating system would be an absolute waste of money (the wall unit in the Great Room and a space heater in the bedroom are more than sufficient to make the house hospitable in the few welcome days of winter cold enough to warrant their use). My wife and I both cannot stand Air Conditioning and would never use Central A/C other than the one or two times a year we would normally turn on our wall unit when it is too hot to bear and the windows and doors cannot be left open. Houses have existed for Milleniums prior to the invention of Central Climate Control and I am sure home insurance existed atleast a few decades before the invention of air conditioning. Why would not having central climate control be a disqualifying factor in getting home insurance coverage? I highly doubt that not having A/C or heat is going to make our house any more likely to be damaged or destroyed in a hurricane, robbed or flooded. Due to an illness/ disability in our family, despite having health insurance, we still owe thousands in medical bills. Those that would not work with us turned them into collection. They now show on our credit report. Despite being insured for both our auto insurance and our home insurance for 20+ year with the same insurance company, we got a notice saying our auto insurance had gone up hundreds of dollars per year based on a credit report they obtained. We have never had an accident, ticket, etc. and the amount automatically comes out of our checking each month. Plus, last year, prior to this, they switched us to a preferred group within the company and gave us a discount when we threatened to switch. I'm an older full-time college student and my husband works full-time at Walmart. In the past three years, I've been through 4 cancer related surgeries, which were paid for by the breast/cervical cancer Medicaid program. Unfortunately, follow up care and monitoring aren't covered and I was dropped from Medicaid. I'm now on my husband's health insurance, which is basically worthless because our income is under $20,000/yr and the policy has a $4500 deductible plus 20% after. I haven't seen my oncologist for over a year because we can't afford the expensive scans, biopsies, and lab work associated with cancer follow-up with a deductible that high. I thought my situation would change in 2014 with Obamacare. I recently learned from the healthcare.gov website calculator that our income is low enough to qualify for expanded Medicaid (which our state decided not to expand), but I don't qualify for the health insurance subsidies I desperately need because the outrageous deductible health insurance from my husband's job covers spouses. How can a couple with an income so low they would qualify for expanded Medicaid be ineligible for subsidies? I am completely devastated over this and I don't know what to do. Not being able to afford cancer follow up care is putting my life in danger. Even if my husband's employer (Walmart) quit covering the spouses of full-time employees, I think that would only apply to new hires because of the grandfather clause. If getting subsidies was based on income alone the way it should be instead of access to employer provided coverage, I would qualify for a zero deductible policy and $3 co-pays with a monthly premium of around $60. I could then afford the expensive health care I need. We live in a college town so if my husband got a different job, he'd make even less than he does now and we would probably end up homeless. If my husband transfers and we move to a state that's expanding Medicaid, I'll have to quit school and get rid of my German Shepherd and Siberian Husky since it's almost impossible to find a landlord that allows them. We thought another option might be to get a divorce on paper and co-habitate until our situation changes (completing my degree and getting a good job so I can afford the deductible), then re-marry.
