we went to iceland!

I need to get another crab or two for Gurkle since it doesnt look like Scupa made it through his molt (it's been over a month... im scared to sift through the substrate for his remains/shell) but I dont wanna feed the crab trade and my adhd/depression are like no ❤️ and my anxiety is like GURKLE NEEDS FRIENDS

I found a picture of the Myrtle Beach building half demolished, and if you zoom into the wreckage, you can see some of the half walls, the entrance to the bottom half of the castle, THE ENTIRE CENTER QUEST STONES, and some foundation pillars that still have blue paint on them from the sky drawings on the walls.

Day 6, and the background is coming along! Still not satisfied but since I'm not practiced in backgrounds I figure it'll take a lot of finagling to get me happy with it. On the one hand, it's kind of disappointing when my art doesn't turn out exactly the way I want it to. On the other hand, look at all this progress I get to make and things I get to learn! I'm gonna be a better artist and learn so much shit about backgrounds by the time I'm done with this!

And that's what the Great Artscapade is about: learning and growing as an artist and expanding my skillset. This is gonna be a good year for art progress, I can tell :D

I just need to tell you how much I love the new M9 art but especially Jester’s cool as hell dress! Were you inspired by anything particular when you were working on it? It’s so frothy and great.

Laura included a picture of a beach in the initial brief. Like it was just a pic of a tropical beach, and there were lots of pastel colors, frothy waves. And that was about it. I started with just getting the body down, and aging up her face in a way that felt like it still had Jester's joy and playfulness.

Like I really focused on the face, actually. I think Jester was the one I was the most worried about- Jester is so iconic and.... the character isn't fragile, but the archetype is? Like if you fuck it up and make her look too seductive or too innocent or too... idk. She's complex, and I didn't want to break her, because I was sure that if she was wrong, it would make everyone else feel wrong along with her. So I focused on the face.

So then as soon as Laura had that starting point, she suddenly knew exactly where to go with it. She liked a top, but asked for a dress. Then she added ruffles for days. Then she added jewelry for days. Added the hat, etc. Like that is allll Laura. Laura is very, very good at her job. We all knew that, right?

You and Bradley had been texting nonstop. Occasionally he would just check in with you and ask how your day was going. Sometimes he would send you a funny story or a picture of Noah. And then once, when you asked him sweetly, he sent you a dick pic to which you replied with a photo of yourself in the shower.

When he texted you on Tuesday evening asking if you could come over on Wednesday, you immediately agreed. You didn't want to invite yourself over to his house, but you'd been itching to go back and see them. Your boys.

Bradley Bradshaw: I didn't want to ask. I should be a capable adult by now. But HELL YES, Noah and I both want you to make dinner. I'll order some groceries on my phone.

You laughed at his old man tendencies and the fact that they both liked it when you cooked for them. Then you started thinking about what might happen after Noah went to bed for the night. You groaned; you had an exam early on Thursday morning, so you'd need to get a good night's sleep. 

You didn't even know exactly where you and Bradley were at the moment, but you hoped you were headed down the road to a relationship with him. Something exclusive. Something where you could spend time with him and Noah on a regular basis. 

You stopped back at your place after class on Wednesday and quickly changed into a sundress and touched up your makeup. You put some lip gloss on and grabbed a bag of Skittles with a smile. You considered stopping for coffee, but you were anxious to get to Bradley's house, so you skipped it. 

When you let yourself in the front door, you could hear them playing with blocks; you were so used to the sound of Noah destroying the towers after he built them. "Hello?" you called out, and Noah was racing into the living room. 

You scooped him up into your arms and held him tight. "Watch any good princess movies without me?" you asked as Bradley came strolling in as well. He looked so good in his snug jeans and black undershirt, your mind went blank for a beat.

"Hey, Princess," he said softly, stopping just a few inches away from you. He was looking at you with a soft smirk on his lips, and you couldn't help but think about Saturday night on the floor.

"I thought you were the knight," you remarked, blowing on your hot drink. 

"I'm waiting for you to upgrade me permanently," he said with a wink, pulling his phone out of his pocket and messing with it while you drank your delicious coffee.

Bradley set his phone on the counter, and you glanced back to see that Noah was coloring nicely by himself. You grabbed the fabric of Bradley's shirt and pulled him closer, pressing your lips to his in a soft lingering kiss. 

"Missed you," he whispered, and when you smoothed his shirt out for him, your eyes caught on his phone screen. 

The dating app was still there. And so were the app notifications. Your coffee soured in your stomach as you saw someone named Julie send him a message before the screen went black. 

"I don't even know how to cook half of the stuff I got, but I figured you'd be able to figure something out," he told you, opening the refrigerator and shrugging. "We'll eat whatever you want to make."

Well now you didn't feel like cooking shit for him! You could leave. There was nothing keeping you here. Not Bradley who would never take you seriously. 

But there was something keeping you here. Noah turned and looked at you. "Can you make food? For later? And ants on the logs?"

You sighed and nodded at him. "Of course, Noah. I'll make you some ants."

You brushed past Bradley to look inside the refrigerator for yourself. At first glance, you knew you could make them some spaghetti, tacos or hamburgers. In an effort to make sure Noah was well fed, you wanted to stay long enough to make all three and pack the food in plastic containers, but you couldn't even look at Bradley now as he was back on his phone. 

You pulled out ingredients to make tacos, adding the carrots and peanut butter for Noah's snack to the counter as well. When you started browning the meat and cutting up the carrots, Bradley came to stand behind you, rubbing his mustache along your neck. You tried to shrug out of his grasp, but his fingers on your arm felt so nice. 

"Hey, baby?" he asked, his damn phone still in his hand. You finally pulled away from him and turned to look up at him. 

"What?" you asked a little harshly. 

His eyes narrowed at his phone screen. "I can't figure out how to get this damn app off my phone, and the notifications keep popping up when I'm trying to watch the Nationals highlights. Can you help me?"

Bradley held his phone out to you, and you carefully took it. There were countless notifications for the dating app at the top of the screen, and messages kept popping up. You looked up at his completely relaxed face. 

"To be clear, you want me to help you delete the dating app?" you asked cautiously. 

"Yeah," he confirmed, with a casual nod. "It's annoying."

You caught sight of a message from Charlotte who was trying to introduce herself to him. "Bradley, you've got tons of women contacting you."

He leaned closer to you and said, "Yeah, I know." Then he pointed at the screen. "See?! The damn notifications keep covering the MLB scores!"

It took all of your willpower not to kiss his mustache off. "Want to watch me delete it so you know how to remove an app for next time? I won't always be around to help you with your phone, Grandpa."

His eyes drifted from his phone in your hand to your face. "Grandpa? I thought I was Daddy."

You looked up at him innocently. "Now watch closely. Oh wait, do you need to put your hearing aids in?" you asked, annunciating every word slowly.

"The Padres beat the Blue Jays," Bradley told you, pointing at the screen. 

"You amaze me," you told him, cutting up a tomato as you smiled. "You can operate a sixty million dollar aircraft, but you can't cook or use a smartphone."

Bradley tossed his phone onto the counter and carefully took the knife out of your hand and set it down on the cutting board. Then he grabbed you by the hips and pulled you back against him. "I'm good with my hands," he murmured, letting said hands drift down to the hem of your dress. "Precise. Quick, but not too fast. Decisive."

The three of you finished eating in silence, the kind of silence that was pleasant. And then Bradley sent you and Noah in to watch a cartoon while he cleaned up. He listened to you and his son singing that ridiculous dinosaur song while you carried him to the couch, and it made him clean the kitchen faster so he could join you.

He turned on his coffee maker and checked his phone only to find three missed calls from Meredith. Her relentlessness was concerning to him. He was probably going to have to call her back soon and let her get this out of her system. He could call her this weekend. There was no way he would actually let her see Noah, but Bradley could handle one, short phone call. obviously, if you date paul, you have to go on vacations with him. we've all seen his vacation pics from the summer (and winter) breaks, the pink swimming trunks and the linen shirts showing off his chest and shoulder muscles so beautifully. but not only are vacations with him great because you have the world's best piece of eye candy with you; you'd also have a blast with him.

it means spending a lot of time at the beach, going swimming and sunbathing and just relaxing together. you cheer him on when he does his flips from cliffs and bridges, mostly watching from afar, but he always finds some way to trick you into coming up to the cliff with him – and then he always pulls you in with him. but you also go to the beach at night, walking barefoot along the shoreline and feeling the warm sand between your toes. you look at the stars together, his hand on your waist squeezing you close to him and his fingers drawing random figures into your skin as you point out the constellations to him. his lips pressing against your forehead as he hums, nodding along to whatever you're saying, is a confirmation that he's listening – even when he's more focused on your pretty lips and soft skin.

taking care of you

paul is very caring. he often comes off as cool and casual to other people, but the soft spot in his heart for you makes paul act a bit differently with you. whenever he's around you, he wants to make sure you know that you're the most important thing to him. he listens well, gives you advice when you come to him with issues, and he takes care of you in every way he can think of.

it starts off lightly, with you sipping slowly on some kind of fruity drink while chatting off with dino's girlfriend, growing more relaxed for every passing minute. paul notices instantly, but he lets it slide – you're in a club, after all, and you're all there to drink. the drinks turn into shots, and the chats turn into showing off your moves on the dance floor, while paul merely sits at your table and watches you with a big grin on his face. through the night, he keeps ordering glasses of water that he helps you down in-between your drinks. but despite his services, it doesn't take too long before you get a little too 'tipsy', walking up to him with wobbly legs and such a soft expression on your face.

"paulie!" you exclaim as you come up to stand next to where he's sitting. he notices instantly – you only call him that when you're drunk. "did you see my moves?"

paul nods, a little smile taking over his lips. "you were great." one of his hands reach up to your waist, pulling you a little closer. "how are you feeling?"

"lovely!" you turn your head to the side, looking out on the dance floor again. "i think i'm going to go back, it's so much fun, you should come with me, we can dance and-"

the sound of a chuckle leaving his mouth makes you stop in your ramble, eyes darting back at him instantly. "i think we should go now, actually."

"go where?"

"to your apartment. or mine, or-"

"why?"

paul shakes his head, grinning from ear to ear. "because you're drunk, sweetheart."

you frown – you're having so much fun, why leave now? "that makes no sense."

"maybe it does, maybe it doesn't." paul places his other hand on your waist too, and his hands squeeze your sides. "let me take you home and take care of you. please?"

you cross your arms over your chest, huffing. "what's in it for me?"

"well," he snickers. "i'll give you as many kisses as you want. and i'll help you with your skincare." the way his fingers dance up and down your ribs tickles, and the tingling sensation is so immense you can't hold back a smile. paul is a good man, so he keeps his promises. when you fall asleep in the cab, all worn out from dancing, he carries you carefully up to his apartment and makes sure not to wake you up, before tucking you in between the sheets. he gets a makeup wipe from the bathroom – it's better than nothing, he thinks – trying his best to be as detailed in his cleaning yet not rough enough to wake you up. he massages your feet for a few minutes, hoping that it'll make some difference in the morning. and even if you're not conscious enough to remember it, he does give you tons of kisses. on your forehead, your cheeks, your temple, the corner of your lips.

paul is a caring, lovestruck fool, and his soft heart beats only for you.

race rituals

surprisingly enough, paul likes to be structured and have the same schedule & rituals before a race. he may seem like someone who doesn't care, someone who's extremely easy-going, but it's the rituals before he even gets to the track that let him be carefree.

on media days and the fridays of the weekends, a lot of people assume he's got a devil-may-care kind of attitude. he's often spotted joking around with dino, throwing american footballs with karl, or just chilling on the floor of the prema truck. on the earlier parts of the week, he eases up – but the moment he sits down in the car before quali on friday, he switches his focus. he's completely and fully zoned in for the racing.

when he's done with qualifying, the first thing he needs is to have his debrief with his trainers. depending on the result of the session, the debrief can be lighthearted or serious, but the driving always needs to be discussed. then he needs to confirm tomorrow's schedule, to make sure it's all set and ready to go. and lastly, he needs to talk to you.

you always find some secluded corner of the paddock, sitting together on the floor with one of his arms draped around your shoulders. you don't need to talk about the qualifying itself; if it's gone badly, he'll ask you what you've done all day, what you had for lunch, and which drivers you've seen around the paddock. but if it's gone well, he won't shut up about it. he'll tell you about all of the corners he got the most out of, what parts of the track he could've improved in, and how he felt when his trainers praised him on the radio. all this while you're holding his free hand, playing with his fingers and resting your head against his chest, feeling his heartbeats all the way in to your own heart.

he has a routine for the mornings before races, too. they all start in the hotel room after he wakes up. first, he brushes his teeth. then, he needs to make sure all of his necessities are packed; race suit, shoes, gloves, anything else he might need. then, he always has the same breakfast.

all steps of his routine are important, but his most important ritual is the one that includes you.

the one thing he needs the most right before he leaves through the hotel room door is a hug from you. he needs you to hold him tight, press your lips to his cheek, and whisper to him that he'll do well. he needs you to assure him that no matter what, you're there for him and you believe in him. with your trust, he can do anything.

post-season comfort

paul desperately needed encouragement.

after spa, and especially after the season finale in monza, things felt extra rough for him. it was hard for him to recover from the fact that everything had slipped through his fingers. sure, he put on a big smile when congratulating gabriel and zak for p1 and p2 in the championship, and he was genuinely happy that prema won the teams championship. but he couldn't help but to feel... sour. he believed that he deserved that win, or at least the second place. if only he hadn't been so unlucky...

you see right through him, of course. no matter how hard he pretends that he's fine, that it doesn't matter and that he's fine with third place in the championship, you don't believe it. you know him, and you'd do anything to help take his mind off things, to get him to stop overthinking it.

post-season means a lot of sessions in the gym and even more time spent on the sim, preparing for everything that's to come and trying to work on the weaknesses that showed this past season. it's very physically demanding, and in combination with the disappointment from his championship standings, it leaves him exhausted most of the time.

but whenever he's free, you see it as your duty to take him away from it all. the stress, the racing, the pressure. you know that deep down, he does love it; racing is his life for a reason. but you also see how worn out he is, how his smile doesn't really meet his eyes anymore, how persistent the bags under his eyes are. sometimes, the emotions can be too much, and you love to help him out even just a little.

so, every day off, you plan something for him. you go rock climbing, swimming, stargazing. you go on road trips to nearby cities, sightseeing and pretending to be tourists even in areas you've been to hundreds of times. you drag him along to the spa to get massages and to just relax, and he ends up being the one who refuses to leave, despite how he groaned about not wanting to go beforehand. you even take him to race in go-karts, to show him that racing still can be fun and that it doesn't always need to be super competitive (because you threaten him and say that if he speeds away from you in the first straight, there's no way he's getting any kisses, so he has to pretend like he's slow).

it's not like paul doesn't understand what you're doing; he's fully aware of your plans, and he finds them completely adorable. one night, as you're about to part after a romantic dinner date, he stops you on your porch just as you're about to go into your home.

he wraps you in his arms, hugging you close as a deep sigh leaves his chest. he relaxes, his whole body just melting into you as he nuzzles his face into the side of your neck. "thank you," he whispers, his words tickling your skin and his lips brushing the space behind the back of your ear. "i really needed this."

maybe you're reading too much into it, but you know there's so much hiding behind those words. it's not often that he opens up about racing, so you're grateful for every little moment of it, even if it's minimal. "you deserve the world", you tell him, because it’s true. to you, he’s the most precious thing in the world. and by the way he smiles at you, eyes filled with so much gratitude and so much love, you can tell he feels the same way about you.

At first, you had thought this was going to be hard for you since you happily let your followers take part in your life, but you quickly realized that the beauty in this privacy is priceless.

You've never been so happy in a relationship.

Lucy and you are currently walking at the beach near her apartment in Barcelona. You had quickly learned that Lucy values physical touch, and by now, whenever you were out together with no obvious paparazzi, her hand would always hold yours. Now isn't any different.

You look up at the brunette and can't help but smile. You're so happy. She notices you staring and asks, smiling, "What are you looking at?". "The person that makes me the happiest I've ever been", you just answer honestly as Lucy blushes slightly.

That's another thing you learned about Lucy early on in your relationship. She's pretty shy outside of football, and she could not deal well with being complimented.

"You're so cute when you blush", you just chuckle and cuddle into her side slightly. Lucy just rolls her eyes slightly before placing a soft kiss on your head.

You weren't surprised when the next day you were tagged in, I don't know how many tweets that show a very blurry picture of the two of you at the beach. People have been speculating about your relationship for months now.

As you crawl on the bed where Lucy is lying, you hand her your phone with the Pic. "You can not even tell it's us. They're just two blobs", she chuckles as you just start laughing. By now, it is just fun to tease the media.

You crawl into her arms and rest against her chest, cuddling close. "The paparazzi foto from the restaurant a couple of weeks ago has definitely been better", you mumble as she wraps her arms around you and holds you close. "That was a good one yeah", Lucy says as she kisses your forehead.

The euros were in just two weeks, and even though it's not your first rodeo with the national team, you always get a bit nervous. Lucy knows that, and she also knows that no matter how often she reassures you that everything will be fine, she can't get rid of your nerves completely.

"You thinking about the euros again?", she asks softly as she plays with your hair, and you just nod slightly. Crawling completely on top of her, you wedge yourself in between her legs and look up at her. "What if something happens to your knee?", you ask a bit worried. "Love, my knee is doing very well. Don't worry about me. We'll have a great tournament and play the sport we love, okay?", she asks as she looks into your eyes and caresses your cheeks. You nod and sigh softly before smiling at her.

And Lucy has been right. You both have been having an amazing tournament so far, and before you guys know it, you're in the final. All ready to win the euros. You've never witnessed the lionesses so hyped.

You got on in the 63th minute, and only minutes later, the Germans score a goal to make it even. You glance at Lucy from across the field, and she just nods at you. Telling you to stay focused. So that's what you do.

The regular time is over, so you move into the overtime. It's in the 111th minute that you have a perfect run, and you just take the shot. And it's in. At first, you can't believe it, and then you start cheering, running over to Lucy before jumping into her arms. Your other teammates jump on you too, cheering and yellin, but you only grin at Lucy.

You have never seen her look so unbelievably proud of you. She rests a hand on your cheek and kisses you. You haven't talked about it, but right now, it just felt right. And if Lucy is ready to make the two of you official, so are you.

You grin at her as you break the kiss before pecking her lips once more. You still had a game to finish. However, before you know it, the whistle is blown, and you're handed the medals and trophy. "We did it", you say, grinning at Lucy. "We sure did", Lucy says before pulling you in again for another kiss. "The fans that have been speculating and shipping us are gonna have a ball with this", you say, chuckling.

"Let them", Lucy just says, grinning and kisses you again. This is a nice way to end the tournament.
