Here's a progress pic for the Control inspired piece I'm currently working on! I plan to have the finished piece up for the launch of Alan Wake 2.
I switched over to using Clip Studio near the beginning of this project. Overall I really love it, but text editing is borderline impossible. Trying to figure out the background text for this has been a nightmare, but I'm excited for you guys to see it once it's done!

“Don’t worry, the company has appointed a new board of directors. They’ll be more receptive to employee input and complaints.”
The Board, in question:
*otherworldly warbling and garbled radio noises*

I feel like we’re not asking the real question about ttpd, that being: WTF happened in Texas?!?!
Florida!!!
Little did you know
Your home's really only the town you'll get arrested in
So you pack your life away
Just to wait out the shitstorm back in Texas
I Can Fix Him (No Really I Can)
The dopamine races through his brain
On a six lane Texas highway
His hands, so calloused from his pistol
Softly traces hearts on my face

So I’m playing through the foundation DLC currently and I’m at the part with the former giving Jesse the other ability/the board freaking out and I thought it was interesting that during said freak out they use the word “disobedient”, which,, makes a lot of sense actually
Jesse is supposed to be Obedient- she’s the Director, and the board is supposed to use the Director as a tool; “You wield the gun, we wield you”- but she’s currently disobeying them by listening to the Former, which angers them, especially as they’re relying on her to Yknow. Fix them.
they’re dependent on her at the moment, but she isn’t dependent on them- or at least, not totally. She’s not really doing this to fix the board, she’s doing it to save the Bureau, which angers the board somewhat too.
It could also be that the previous directors were all incredibly obedient to the board, downright worshipping I’d argue. We see it with the director we’re introduced to in the Foundation DLC (forgot his name, guy who first picks up the gun), so it’s possible it happened with the others that came after it. They’re afraid of the board in a way too, which the board uses to their advantage, but Jesse.. isn’t. At least not outright. She only came in the first place to find her brother, and she’s only staying because she’s found a “home” in the Bureau- her job was just an added bonus.
Jesse isn’t intimidated by the board. She flat out tells them “well, the former is giving me something you won’t” and calls them out on trying to tell her what she “can slash can’t do”. It angers the board, but probably scares them too. Their “tool” is disobeying them by going against their wishes and refusing to adhere to their every need and want, which ultimately terrifies them. They’ve picked a director that doesn’t constantly kneel for them.
that was a lot of word vomit tldr the board girl crying meme Jesse gigachad
