top 10 kdrama bromances to feed your empty heart
if you scroll through my page, you can already guess number 1.
#10 - our beloved summer : choi ung and kim ji ung
Tumblr media
beautiful beautiful men choi woo shik and kim sung cheol played ung bros for life in this beautiful beautiful drama. one of the best handled love triangles ive seen. they were there for each other through thick and thin, and helped each other through sm. best. on the tenth spot because they could've expanded on it more :(
#9 - what's wrong with secretary kim? : lee young joon and park yoo sik
Tumblr media
i could never make it through the series. i left it behind on ep9/10 i think, and primarily because i physically cannot digest how emotionless park min young is. BUT, kudos to the hilarious office best bromance by the great park seo joon and kang ki young. ps - why is kang ki young the pankaj tripathi of korean dramas?
#8 - strong girl do bong soon : ahn min hyuk and in gook du
Tumblr media
can we ever forget the legendary wink? or the dream where min hyuk is dressed as a woman? i think not. this was more of a frenemy type bromance, united by their love for bong soon and ironically divided by it, too. i refuse to acknowledge this as a love triangle tho. bong soon was astronomical in not hurting gook du and i will not take any criticism. is it a bromance if one of them is pretending to be gay? (and no, we will not discuss any sort of iTs pRoBLeMaTiC debates here.)
#7 - tale of the nine tailed : lee yeon and koo shin ju
Tumblr media
don't come at me with the lee rang comments. rang was his half brother, related by blood. their relationship was top tier, but the stay at home husband yeon and working husband shin ju was too cute to not be classified as a bromance. in the beginning, i saw their relationship as shin ju serving yeon, a dynamic that they both seemed to embody. but as the show progresses, yeon baby we know you love shin ju just as much :*
#6 - alchemy of souls : jang uk and seo yul
song joon ki seems to have an attachment to bromances. han seo had the best character arc of the ENTIRE kdrama universe fight me. that court scene where vincenzo pats han seo's cheek was max bro cuteness. still not over his death. he deserved better.
#5 - vincenzo : vincenzo cassano and jang han seo
Tumblr media
even though i didn't very much like the show's first couple, bromance delivered well. hospital scene peaked, complete true beauty sameness. it was pretty hard to understand who was the superior officer in this tbh initially, since their comraderie was so cool, shi jin was kid to soldier in a split second. loved how they chose not to unnecessarily exaggerate the love triangle initially bec i was only rooting for the second couple.
#4 - descendants of the sun : yoo shi jin and seo dae young
Tumblr media
business proposal was the first kdrama i saw. i finished it in a three day trip, and i remember thinking more about the bromance than the romance. i was NOT used to the clumsiness of kdramas in general, like wattpad fics incarnated. the bromance delivered well, made me root for the second couple, and was the only initial indicator of kang tae moo being human instead of archaeopteryx. that word was a nightmare to spell.
#3 - business proposal : kang tae moo and cha sung hoon
Tumblr media
the most wolfstar bromance if I ever saw one. and NO, i do not ship wolfstar just like i do not ship these two. they are totally adorable, and specially since their personalities seemed to switch from when they were children. yeong turned all serious face and lee gon got fun. love their years of friendship sm, their wordless communication and yeong in general. the acting was amazing.
#2 - the king - eternal monarch : lee gon and jo yeong
Tumblr media
#1 - guardian - the lonely and great god : kim shin aka goblin and wang yeo aka grim reaper
Tumblr media
yes, i know I'm missing a lot of iconic ones. unfortunately, i haven't seen alot of kdramas and have left alot in bw (like true beauty bec i couldn't see second lead hurt).
spring onion slays ^
told ya, if u follow me u already knew what the first one was gonna be. being the simp i am for the goblin and grim reaper, these two achieved the max points for their bromance. that slow dynamic of goblin calling reaper's hat tacky to fighting with knives to that iconic 'saranghae' to 'HOW DARE YOU' to goblin boiling eggs with his powers while reaper chills the beer. they know each other so well. love love love them and you should too 🔪
Tumblr media
in my heart, the trio of our boys beats nothing (except for the gookdu-minhyuk relationship of the crown prince and uk). but instead of choosing the frenemy thing, i decided to love yul and uk more. yul was such a quiet character, with incredible potential in him for me to hate him, but then...(the guy is literally too sweet and beautiful and nice i can ramble for days). and uk, man, our power baby who loves every version of our beautiful but slow girl, needed so much emotional support. uk and yul were not afraid to show their affection for each other, a trait i admired in all the three boys (jang uk, seo yul and park dang gu).

Happy Halloween!
Bela Lugosi King of Fright
In arcane shadows of the silver screen
These iconic monumental Masters of the macabre will make you shudder and scream
Lon Chaney Senior the phantasmal man of a thousand faces
is one of many to which the screen he graces
Boris Karloff is a celluloid monarch as horror fans we all worship and hail
Lon Chaney Jr.'s Wolfman leaves behind a bloody, gruesome homicidal trail
Vincent Price laughs with a ghastly glare
Basil Rathbone creeps through the midnight air
While Peter Lorre chooses his victims with keen and sadistic care
John Carradine stares with mesmerizing evil stone-cold eyes
Dwight Frye's Renfield eats plump juicy spiders and flies
George Zucco experiments upon the living dead
Lionel Atwill ogles gleeful with mad bloodshot burning eyes of red
Charles Laughton's Dr. Moreau is blasphemously deranged as one can be
Excellent are Horror Greats such as Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee.
The deformed Rondo Hatton will leave you with an uncanny chill
Claude Rains' performances are phenomenal and forevermore thrill
Gale Sondergaard, the dark beauty will rob you with her draconian heart
These legends are immortalized in cinematic history and will never be forgotten nor will their legends that haunt us ever depart...
In the saturnine shadowy bowers of our hearts now comes the imperial looming Master of this ghastly Hollywood regime,
Hollywood's Prince of Darkness whose dominion reigns ever supreme,
In the terror throughout the sequential lexicons of celluloid time,
the epitome of horror he truly defined,
he has enchanted and seductively made the ensorcelled souls of so very many moves to heart-quake and scream,
He resides lurking in the lugubrious chambers our hearts, souls, nightmares and beautiful dreams, and captivates us all with his vampiric kiss in the mysterious night and while drunken in the esoteric bath of mordacious moonbeams
Hail Bela Lugosi Father to all the lost howling children of the night
Bela Lugosi is King of horror who can still enthrall
He will mesmerize you entirely and make your skin crawl
So, remember on this frightful Halloween night, who truly is the King of fright
Bela (Dracula) Lugosi who stalks on the screen and the forsaken eternal midnight.

Five Days of Yam-Pak Movies ~ Day 4: Xi Shi, The Eternal Beauty // 西施 (dir. Chu Kea / 珠璣, 1960) - starring Yam Kim Fai (任劍輝) and Pak Suet Sin (白雪仙)
Scene outline and more information below!
Outline Based on the folk tales surrounding Xi Shi, one of the Four Great Beauties (四大美女) of China. The Yue Kingdom has been conquered by the warmongering Wu Kingdom, and its king and queen have been taken hostage. In a bid to rescue the monarch and turn the tables, minister Fan Li (Yam Kim Fai) recruits the humble but politically-minded washerwoman Xi Shi (Pak Suet Sin) and trains her up to become the king of Wu’s concubine— in other words, their woman on the inside. Both fall for each other, but love their country too much to call off the mission, so Xi Shi enters the Wu Kingdom’s court as originally planned. And it turns out that she is naturally gifted as a saboteur: drawn in by her beauty and constantly turned around by her cleverness, the king of Wu soon becomes a puppet dancing to the tune of Yue’s liberation… Scene Summary Although Xi Shi is an excellent spy, that’s not to say that she does not face her own share of troubles. She is isolated, having no compatriots apart from another concubine sent with her from Yue Kingdom, and not knowing when she can see her love next; and of course, there is also a very high chance of her dying in the Wu Kingdom even if she succeeds in causing its ruin. In this scene, Xi Shi has spent some time at the Wu court and so is elated to see a visiting Fan Li – however, both are filled with mixed emotions, knowing that their reunion is only temporary and that they cannot allow their feelings to jeopardise the mission.
What’s great about Xi Shi, The Eternal Beauty is that it’s basically a spy movie in a period setting. Sure, Xi Shi is beautiful, but the emphasis is on her being hyper-competent and highly intelligent; even when the king of Wu and his advisors are suspicious of her, she’s able to run circles around them. And despite it being a honey trap, there’s no threat of sexual assault or sexual violence at all! Thanks to the censorship of the 1950’s, the king of Wu is reinterpreted as just someone who really likes watching (non-sexualised) dance performances. It’s a novel take on Xi Shi, as most tellings depict her as being a passive pawn, whether as a helpless woman whose body is exploited in the conflict between Yue and Wu, or as someone who manages to ruin a kingdom purely by dint of being so beautiful that the ruler cannot focus on his duties. Take a look the essay linked below, and marvel at how much better this movie is!

The K-Dramas I've watched
Playful Kiss
Possibly the first kdramas i've ever watched, it was either this one or The Miracle. I enjoyed it at first but i found it was an adaptation of Itazura na Kiss and went to watch the other adaptations and hated the story as a whole. Also when I found the Thai version it was game over cus that version is so much better than the source material.
Weighlifting Fairy Kim Bok-Joo
It was cute!! And very funny, I don't have much to say about it tho.
Goblin
Ignoring the fact he is idk how many years old and she was 18-19 when they properly meet... it's kinda cute. And heartbreaking. The Goblin and Reaper duo is also just iconically hilarious.
Doom At Your Service
MY ABSOLUTE FAVORITE EVER!! The writing is so good and the story is so beautiful and I mean, Park Bo-Young is one of my favorite actresses for a reason. I just cannot properly put into words how much i adore this show, honestly.
While You Were Sleeping
How I meet both Suzy and Lee Jong-Suk and i loved them and their characters both so much. The story was very engaging too.
Strong Woman Bong-Soon
Park Bo-Young and Park Hyung-sik <3 Do Bong-Soon and Ahn Min-Hyuk <3 They were too good in this man, I'd love to see them in another drama together. One thing that felt uncessary to me was the gangsters and their whole screentime, it just wasnt entertaining or important to the story afjsahfkdagj
True Beauty
Very funny, very entertaining. Also how I feel in love with Cha Eun-woo. Also yes I loved Seo-jun but it made a lot more sense for Joo-kyung to be with Su-ho, me thinks.
Extraordinary Attorney Woo
Entertaining but the depiction of mental disabilities is really just... atrocious. It's a little hard to rewatch tbh.
Business Proposal
Kim Se-jeong is a treasure. And this show was very funny and cute.
Alchemy Of Souls
Amazing, showstopping, spectacular, no wonder it was so popular.
My Only Love Song
Also one of the first ones i've watched, hilarious too. But i dont remember thinking much about the romance tbh. At least it's on the shorter end so if you dont feel like committing to 16+ 1-hour long episodes, this is a good one
W: Two Worlds
I. LOVE. THE. CONCEPT. OF. COMIC CHARACTERS. BEING SELF AWARE!!!! It's so interesting and I think W explored it so well, I'd love more kdramas like it.
The Miracle
I remember very little about this one lol but i do remember the over fatphobia, like yes its what the show criticizes but i remember feeling so uncomfortable watching it. it's been like 7 years tho so i cant properly talk about it
Extraordinary You
comic book characters being self aware <3 also think this was did a fantastic job with that concept. it also made me cry so badly, my heart still aches for Haru and Dan-Oh
Pinocchio
This is the one last one I finished, and I binged it. Was not expecting to be so enthralled by a drama that's essencially about news reporting but I was.
Why Her
Reccommend to me by a close friend who adores pain... I was also not expecting to be so engaged with this one but I was and it was so painful, omg but so so good!
+ unfinished ones
Hotel Del Luna
Mr. Queen
Rookie Historian Goo Rae-Hyeong

But my mother is the exact opposite //
my mom: *bursting into my room while i study* you have to watch The King Eternal Monarch, it's so good. Lee Minho and the girl from Goblin are in it.
stuff like this happens all the time
like the one day I was peacefully studying when I heard hysterical laughter form the other room. I ignored it. Then it happens again and I'm like ", no big deal, I'll just close the door." But then it happens a fifth time so I go to my parents room and my mom is there losing it. I politely go ", heyyy, I'm trying to study could you keep it down ?" and through hiccups she goes ", sorry but this show is just so funny. It's called Love020, its on Netflix, a Chinese drama." and then proceeds to tell me the whole plot and her top ten favourite scenes in detail. I was stuck there for like twenty minutes.
she'll also randomly say things like : add Unicorn Girl to your watch list. You’ll love it
or like
me: would you like some tea?
mom: no but look at this room decor OH AND THEIR KITCHEN! I'll send you screenshots later.
my sister and I: *struggling to find a show*
my mom: watch strong girl
me: seen it already
My mom: have you seen coffee prince? its a good one.
my sister: I want eye candy
my mom: Gong Yoo is eye candy
this woman has never watched Vincenzo but would say things like:
has x happened yet ? and I sit there like 0_o WhAt or let me know when you get to the part with y that episode looked fun. And the worst part " That's so weird, I thought he was the villain." Huh?!?! Vincenzo fans you know exactly how big of a deal this character is as a villain. They're iconic and the element of surprise was ripped away from me.
or that time I was watching True Beauty when she sat down and said ", oh I love this part, I'll stay for the next scene." And literally ended up watching the whole show with me.
my mom: you watched while you were sleeping, right?
me: yeah
mom: how was it?
Me: had second male lead syndrome for a while but all in all good show.
mom *proceeds to show up in my room even few episodes* : did that really just happen?
Finishing 20th century girl
Mom: (smacks couch with her back scratcher) N O T . C O O L .
Honourable mentions:
mom: no one beats taehyung at fake crying
[to my sister] : how could you not recognise Jungkook, he's the cutest of them all.
[hearing Felix’s voice for the first time] woah. okay. 😧😐
(Seeing yeonjun) that’s so unfair he shouldn’t be allowed to be that pretty 🙄
I saw a cool video on instagram of that Kpop boy you like
Which one???
The one with the lips
SOOBIN or HYUNJIN
I don’t know 🤷🏽‍♀️ I saved it for you
