A/N: Me and @kombuuuu were talking about this, so this is my biggest contribution to the fandom.

This is x gender neutral reader!

The first thing Rio Morales noticed when she walked in the door was that your shoes were still there. They weren’t her son’s. She knew that.

She peeked into Miles’s bedroom. The lights were off, except for the candle lit on Miles’s desk. It made the room smell like vanilla. Miles loved vanilla candles. She leaned against the door frame when she heard small mumbles coming from his bed.

You laid on one side of the bed, wearing one of Miles���s t-shirts. He laid next to you while you ran your fingers over his face, pressing kisses over the skin.

“Dad woulda loved you,” Miles mumbled. You hummed in response. His voice was low and slurred, filled with exhaustion.

“Yeah?”

“I miss him, ya know?”

“I know.”

You kisses over his cheek and jaw, reaching your hand up to scratch his head.

“Will you stay with me until I fall asleep? I don’t want to be alone.”

You kissed his lips softly, humming.

“Of course.”

You exited his room 15 minutes later, closing the door behind you softly before walking into the living room. Rio looked up at you. You stopped dead in your tracks.

“Um, I was just leaving.” You forced the words out quickly.

It was 2 hours past the time you were supposed to leave. You had already texted your own guardian about being home late. Miles, however, had not texted his mother. He hadn’t thought.

“Sit with me.”

“What?”

“Come on, siéntate conmigo.” Rio patted the spot next to her on the couch. You hesitantly placed your bag on the floor and sat next to her. She sipped on some tea, leaving you waiting anxiously.

You knew Rio wasn’t fond of you. You just didn’t know why. You were always polite, offering to help around the house, never calling her by her first name. Yet, she was always giving you that same disproving look.

“She’ll warm up to you,” Miles always said. You doubted it.

“So-”

“Miles loves you.” She cut you off firmly, looking you in the eyes.

“I know.” She paused for a moment, only for a moment, before sighing.

“That boy has always been a giver. He gives and he gives. It’s around this time of year he seems to run dry.”

You nodded. Of course you knew. It was around the anniversary of his dad’s death. He missed his dad more than anything. It always had an affect on him.

“I can’t tell you how you feel about him,” she continued, “but if you’re just going to end up hurting him, then I don’t want you to come back. His entire life Miles has given. It’s time he gets something back. It’s what he deserves.”

You thought on it. Miles was always giving. Always offering. He offered to do your homework, to make your food. Never once had he made you feel anything less than loved.

“Believe me, mam. I’d set myself on fire before I ever hurt him.”

Rio went quiet for a minute, thinking about your words. You couldn’t help but wonder what was going through her head.

“My son has a good heart.”

“I know.”

“You need to be careful with it.”

“I’d be a moron to be anything less.”

Rio nodded at you.

“You need to love him like he deserves.”

“I do.”

For the first time since you had met her, she smiled at you. At you. And it wasn’t forced, it was genuine. It was warm. It reminded you of all the times Miles had smiled at you.

“Do you?”

“I do.”

Rio nodded again, exhaling in satisfaction. That was it, apparently. That’s all she wanted.

You stood up, picking up your bag and walked to the door. You had already kissed Miles goodnight. Rio followed behind you. You opened the door.

“Thank you.”

You turned around, humming in confusion.

“Thank you,” she repeated, “for what you do for him.”

You smiled.

“Always.

It’s what he deserved.

“James!” you called, trying your best to catch the curly-haired boy. He didn’t turn around but he stopped and you were able to be next to him in two steps. “James,” you said again, grabbing the sleeve of his shirt “please let me explain.”

You both initially were in the Gryffindor common room, playing truth or dare. You chose truth and the next thing you knew you were telling your entire friend group that you had a crush on James last year when you were sitting next to your new partner.

No one expected this, apparently you were good at keeping your feelings to yourself. And it broke your heart a little when James got up with an expression on his face that you couldn’t describe and left the room.

“I’m sorry,” you said. The last thing you wanted was to create an awkward situation between the two of you. Godric, you hated party games. “Just forget what I said, I’m over you now you don’t have to worry about me, I don’t want things to be weird between us now, I never wanted t-”

But as you started to get lost in your words and thoughts, James cut you “I wish I knew.” Now, that was something you didn’t expect. James was maybe the most fast forward person you ever knew, not confessing his love to the person he fancied was not him.

“What?”

“I wish I knew you wanted me. I would have made a move then,” he let out a small ironic laugh, sitting slowly on the floor with his back against a wall. His legs were pressed against his chest as he buried his head in his knees. 

You stared at him for a second before sitting next to him. “Why you didn’t tell me anything?” that maybe wasn’t the best question but it was the only thing that crossed your mind.

“Didn’t want to freak you out. You know what happened with Lily” the way his voice was so low, so not James, broke you. You were maybe over him but you still loved him, he was your best friend and you never wanted to hurt him.

“Do you…” the words were hard to pull out of your mouth “Do you still love me?” The following seconds of silence were maybe the longest of your life. You both didn’t speak or move.

“Yeah”

You felt like your mind was exploding. You thought about the things you missed just because you never had the courage to ask him out. It was a weird feeling to describe, as if there was something missing in your heart. But you were over it now, and you couldn’t change the past. “I’m sorry, I-”

“Please don’t make this harder” he almost sounded like he was begging. You didn’t answer anything, feeling your heart aching in your chest when James got up and made sure you didn’t follow him. And as much as you tried to convince yourself of the opposite, you swore you saw a tear on his cheek when he left. You were the reason for his cry, and you couldn’t do anything about it.

Money.co.uk has worked together with gardening expert Jackie Herald to share her low-allergen gardening tips. These simple suggestions will hopefully ease some of the symptoms of hay fever. So you can relax peacefully in your garden this summer.

Low-allergen gardening tips

1. Aim to garden at midday

If you are a keen gardener but suffer from hay fever, aim to do all your planting and trimming around midday.

‘Pollen levels are at their highest at the beginning of the day, as they rise with the warming air, and again at the end of the day when it’s cooling down,’ explains Jackie. She advises sticking to between 12 pm and 4 pm.

2. Keep the lawn short

‘Keep the lawn short during the summer months,’ advises Jackie. ‘This helps to prevent the growth of lawn flowers.’ It is these flowers that release grass pollen into the air, triggering hay fever.

3. Avoid planting wind-pollinated vegetable crops

Wind-pollinated crops such as sweetcorn and peas can be a nightmare for gardeners suffering from hay fever. ‘Instead look to plant leafy greens and root vegetables, such as lettuce and beetroot,’ suggests Jackie.

4. Plant fruit trees

Apple, cherry, rowan and juneberry trees are great to plant if you or anyone in your household suffers from hay fever. They are low-allergy and will look gorgeous all year round, offering blossom in spring, fruit in summer and amber leaves in autumn.

5. Build natural barriers with hedges

‘Create natural barriers like hedges to capture and filter pollutants,’ says Jackie. ‘However, be wary of certain species of hedge. Yew, laurel, beech and hornbeam may all trigger hay fever.’

6. Take care when composting

Compost bins are a great way of recycling household waste. However, they can also act as a source of mould spores.

‘These are even finer than pollen and hold the risk of reaching deep into the respiratory system,’ explains Jackie. ‘Keep the bins well away from seating areas and ensure you cover them up, as well as using gloves when handling them.’

7. Be thoughtful about your garden seating layout

‘Ensure your garden seating is well away from the more allergenic pollen sources and any potential mould spores,’ says Jackie.

While it can be tempting to arrange your garden furniture under the shade of a tree, if it is alder, hazel or birch your hay fever won’t thank you. Instead, position your chairs on a patio or decking with an umbrella.

You stood out like a sore thumb in his bedroom, his hoodie hanging loosely from your body. Your hands sat limp at your sides, watching Miles’s expression change.

“Miles, this…isn’t working.”

“What? We been working perfectly fine.”

His eyes bore into you, giving a silent plea. You watched as tears threatened to spill from his eyes, the same eyes you’ve grown to love.

But he knew you were right. He was so busy all the time, doing things that were beyond dangerous. He’d flake out on dates constantly. Some days, you’d wake in his bedroom at 3:00 am, completely alone.

“I’ll be better,” he always said.

“I’m sorry Miles.”

“But-but I love you, you know I do.”

“I know, Miles. This just isn’t right.”

So I didn't call you

For sixteen long days

Miles didn’t answer. For a little over 2 weeks, he did nothing but stare at his ceiling. His bed, somehow, still smelled like you. There was a hoodie draped over his desk chair, the same one you wore when you left him.

He wasn’t upset with you. No matter how much he ignored it, he still knew he was ruining it, ruining you. Someone was bound to get hurt. More than anything, he was glad it was him.

And I should get a cigarette

No matter how long I resist temptation

It was for the better, right?

In the 8 months you had been dating, you always somehow managed to end up missing Miles more than you could love him. Too many nights, you woke up alone. Too many of your texts had been left on read. No matter how many times he came back, he always left again.

You still had his hoodie, his favorite one. It no longer smelled like him, was no longer warm like him. It was nothing more than a reminder of everything you did, and everything Miles couldn’t do.

So, it was for the better, right?

Yet, you couldn’t forget about the nights he’d come back to you. Sneaking in through your window, trying his hardest not to wake you as he slipped into your bed.

Every time he held you, it was tight and close and warm. Every time he kissed you, it was sweet and loving. So many nights, you sat in his lap, kissing the night away until neither of you could breath.

You closed your eyes, lulled by the quiet sound of Regulus' breaths and he hugged you closer

You were tucked under a warm blanket, Regulus' arms around your waist, your back pressed against his chest. He dropped a tender kiss on your hair, he was almost asleep.

It was almost 11pm and you both had an exhausting day, you just wanted to find each other but the fatigue took over and you just ate and took a shower before going to bed. 

You heard Regulus humming contently when you nestled closer to him, you permeate of all his warmth in the cold autumn weather you loved so much.

You turned around and smiled as you saw his relaxed face, it was rare to see him like this and you couldn't get enough.

"You're so pretty" you whispered so low you thought he didn’t hear. But you knew he did because his lips tugged up slightly, almost invisibly. 

"Admiring me?" he said quietly, voice raspy in your ears, his eyes still closed and your smile widened. You knew which game he was playing, he couldn't open his eyes or it meant he lost. 

The first time he did this was at the beginning of your relationship, he hated to seem vulnerable so he would close his eyes and avoid his tinted cheeks. And it now was a game, you had to fluster him until he opened his eyes. 

But tonight he was so tired, it will be an easy win. You first kissed his jaw, it was definitely your favourite part of his face if it wasn't for his deep grey eyes, or his plump pink lips, or his perfect nose you liked to kiss so much. You liked pretty much everything about his face. 

You brought your hand to his cheek "Absolutely my lovely boy" You knew he couldn't keep fighting when you called him like this. 

He chuckled "You're cheating" he said playfully. He chased for your lips and finally kissed them softly. 

Your nights with him were maybe your favourite moments. It was just you and him and no one else. Most of the time the world was asleep because you both liked to go to bed late. 

"You loser didn't even try to resist" you smirked and he let out a snort. He pecked your lips again.

"You have to much effect on me, darling. Can’t help it" he mouthed and you felt your cheeks heating up and giggled to ignore the feeling. 

You kissed him back, tenderly. He kissed you again, softly. 

You let your head fall deeper in the pillow, sleep calling for you and your all sore for the day muscles. In this new position, Regulus had more access to your neck, that he kissed. "You're so gorgeous" he said naturally, like it was the most obvious thing to him, maybe because it was.

Regulus let out a laugh when you didn't answer anything, maybe he won the flustered game.

He kissed your temple and rested his lips there without moving. 

You both stayed like this, enjoying each other's presence in silence. You felt yourself starting to drift off to sleep. 

"Goodnight Reggie" you mumbled sleepily. You felt Regulus placing a wild strand of hair behind your ear.

You heard Regulus whispering "Sleep well darling" before you fell asleep.

It was surely the best way to fall asleep. The last image you saw was your boyfriend's smile on his lovely smile. The last sound you heard was his relaxing voice. The last thing you touch was his hands on your cold skin.

You couldn’t be calmer than next to him

At last! Here I am! Back on track again! While I was slowly falling backwards for no less than 2 years I reached out and I took a backdoor and right away I thought about a couple of new entries to ‘ajournalofuneventfuldays’. I will not be here each and every day, but I suppose that’s OK anyway. The photo was made today; you wouldn’t think this is springtime, were it not for the juneberry in full bloom. The berries are delicious and they’re all gathered by birds, except for some hanging close to the ground, on soft branches. Low hanging fruit: exactly what I might need.

Gravel is cheaper than paving the area. Focus on achieving a depth of about 2.5 cm. A large bag of gravel can cover up to 20 sq. meters.

Add some lights

You can bring a beautiful glow to your garden by adding some fairy lights. Online shops sell such lights at low costs. Arrange the lights on the scrub branches or the trees of your garden. You can even attach the lights to a fence or a piece of furniture. Connect the lights to a plug inside your house so that you don't incur extra costs.

By popular (nonexistent) request! If I had access to all of these and a good amount of space to work with as well as room in a freezer, and a good blender/food processor, this is what I would do. All plant parts in equal amounts. Plus plain yogurt and silky tofu for texture. And honey, maple syrup, and cane sugar for added sweetness. Also assume anything toxic or potentially toxic (elderberries and pokeberry, for example) are properly prepared (cooked, seeds removed, etc.).

i heard somewhere that it takes seven years for every cell in your body to be replaced i have been waiting for that year seven for my body to be replaced    in hopes that one day i will have a body that has never felt your filthy hand (too low) on my back    or your prune lips squarely on mine a body that has no me mo ry of other smoky bodies pressed up against it (or else one that might be close to amnesic) patience is a virtue but i have never been one for virtues so i thought in the mean time i could fix this by my self    with blade in hand i took to carving i was not a sculptor, no, i i was an architect laying blueprints for who i was going to be in year seven i’d build a palace of skin cells created of sunshine and warm kisses from those i’ve truly loved (sweeter than juneberries in margarine bowls) built on a firm foun da tion of confidence grown on apple trees but instead my apple tree confidence be came the heavythickbrown overalls we used to plow in to the rose bushes to collect the hips still solid se cure but not without injury and the kisses burned as they ran down my thigh to find someone else to love and so but yet i grew up and in year two (of waiting, that is) i buried the razors and the blueprints under the apple tree in my front yard and moved twenty miles away (to where i thought you could never find me) it took only until year five before you knockknocked at my door and you offered me moneylove opened your arms (like the Lord him self) and like the moment before the baptism i knew what came next i felt the universe swallow me alive felt the cold weight of five years worth of chains against my wrists drag my body back onto that filthydirty bed felt the skin peeling off my back felt you light the palace of warm kisses and sun shine on fire with your Almighty Hands (too low on my back) and i heard somewhere that it takes seven years for every cell in your body to be replaced today makes week nine.
