The thing about those who say Jaehaera being the mother of Aegon III's kids makes more sense because of the Blackfyre Rebellion is definitely not true.
Daenaera being the mother of Aegon's children does make sense in the fact Rhaenyra had been allied with them throughout the whole war (Corlys had technically been a double agent infiltrated with the greens for the benefit of Rhaenyra and her sons).
Remember Rhaenyra included the sigil of House Velaryon in her banners for a reason, it was the House of her first husband who had given his surname to her first three sons, the maternal House of her stepdaughters who would one day be wed to her sons, the House of Laena her best friend and the one who originally matched their children together.
Also, the supporters of the Greens got the legitimate king they wanted in Aegon III Targaryen after they themselves killed Aegon The Usurper and had been completely defeated in the war, and crowned Aegon III as Rhaenyra’s heir; marrying him to Jaehaera was a move to make the Realm think they would have peace with a wedding, as they could have sent Jaehaera to be a Septa or to be married to an ally of the Blacks who would take her to his keep and have her occupied.
Daenaera's father was named Daeron Velaryon, and while it contributed to the explanation of why Daenaera and Aegon's son was named Daeron, there was also the fact there were many imposters around claiming to be Daeron the Daring, and I guess we can imagine House Peake was supporting them after their failed attempts to get their blood in the Iron Throne and wanted to be rewarded by those imposters.
King Aegon III naming his son Daeron meant reclaiming the name (and before you start saying something else that does not make sense, let me remind you that the name Daeron was originally a Velaryon name and its original possessor in the book is Daenaera's own father who died fighting for Aegon III) just like his parents did with him, linking him also to his great-uncle the son of Baelon and Alyssa Targaryen, great-great-uncle the son of Jaehaerys I and Alysanne Targaryen, and last but maybe the most important one his great-great-great-uncle Aegon the Uncrowned the son of Aenys I Targaryen and Alyssa Velaryon, thus his firstborn son would be the only and real Prince Daeron and true heir to the Iron Throne, and it was King Aegon III's son who became King Daeron I Targaryen.
Daena’s name is technically a shortened version of the name Daenaera, and as the first daughter Daena spent a lot of time with both her parents, admiring them and trying to emulate them so part of her bravery must have come from Daenaera.
House Velaryon had a great role in the Conquest of Dorne of Daeron I, not House Hightower. Daenaera's cousin Alyn Velaryon, who had fought with the Velaryon fleet was Daeron I's master of ships and who helped him conquer Dorne via sea and the planks of the orphans of the green blood, not through the Reach Marches that would be close to the Hightowers.
Baelor I was an example of Targaryen madness mixed with religious fanaticism because he as a second son would spend more time alone with septons as Daeron would have to learn how to govern and probably clinged to religion trying to feel superior to the rest of the realm, and trust me that the Hightowers would not have liked the fact Baelor took the power base of the Faith from Oldtown to King's Landing, cutting the string of House Hightower being the advocates of the Faith, the only thing that made them remain by the Targaryens' side is Garmund Hightower's marriage to Rhaena, the sister of Aegon III Targaryen.
Rhaena (daughter of Aegon III and Daenaera) probably became a septa in the efforts to influence the faith to obey House Targaryen by talking about the Targaryen Exceptionalism and gaining support for her uncle Viserys II Targaryen and how House Targaryen was still strong, Rhaena was probably the one who looked the most like her mother Queen Daenaera and could have maintained a good relationship with House Velaryon and kept honoring her memory thus being able to reconcile with them after Alyn and Elaena's scandal and ensuring that future generations of Targaryens and Velaryons would be in good terms.
Elaena was probably named also in an attempt to further his claim with his Valyrian ancestry, wanting to give his last child another symbol of belonging to the rightful branch of Targaryen kings by ultimately naming her Elaena, Aegon would evoke the memory of Elaena Targaryen the Lady of Dragonstone as well, the daughter of Daenys the Dreamer and Gaemon the Glorious, in the hope Elaena would have a good future and would contribute to House Targaryen's greatness. Elaena probably got close to Alyn through his position as Master of ships, and what protected her from being the talk of the servants when she fell pregnant was the fact her mother Queen Daenaera had been loved and respected, and her memory kept them from badmouthing her daughter and deeming it not that grave since Aegon IV (the son of Viserys II and Larra Rogare) was leading a far more scandalous life, whereas Jaehaera had technically been raised by her grandmother Alicent Hightower, a woman who had been extremely zealous of the Faith of the Seven and who would not have helped them at all.
Elaena was also so intelligent she became the unofficial Master of Coin during the reign of her cousin King Daeron II Targaryen, and guess from whom she learned all of that, her mother Queen Daenaera.
And if we talk about the Blackfyre Rebellion, most of Daemon's allies were marcher lords who disliked the Dornish, but even then Daeron II had allies in the Reach, and one of those of the Targaryen Loyalists were the Hightowers, yes it's true House Hightower played in both fields but in the end they did not want to risk the ire of House Targaryen again.
It's funny because it was House Peake the one that completely supported the Blackfyres after their attempt of making Myrielle Peake Aegon III's second queen failed when Aegon chose Daenaera, and they were angry at Viserys II for refusing to set aside his Lysene wife, Larra Rogare who was from Lys, a colony of Old Valyria, so they could try to wed him to Myrielle if their attempt of killing Aegon III, Daenaera and Larra had worked.
Daenaera being queen does make sense in that she brought the Velaryons back to the Royal Family (the mother of the Conquerors was Valaena Velaryon, Jaehaerys I and Alysanne’s mother was Alyssa Velaryon whose father and grandfather had been mariners who helped in securing the ports and fought in the Conquest) after Rhaenyra’s first three sons died without having the time to sire children who would have had Velaryon blood due to Baela and Rhaena; Corlys would have been okay with the idea as Daenaera was his great-great-niece and was the ward of his granddaughters Baela and Rhaena.
Daenaera is remembered as a queen who brought happiness and hope to the realm, she herself had her traumas as she lost both her parents at a young age and had been nearly murdered by a man who wanted to technically stage a coup against her House of marriage, and lost her friend Gaemon Palehair as well as seeing her husband endure an illness during his last days that she probably contracted and ended up killing her too.

Savaera of Houses Velaryon and Targaryen
Wife to Jaehaerys Targaryen, son of Prince Aemon and Princess Rhaeanna.
Mother to Jaehaera Targaryen, Lady of Casterly Rock
She is also the closest friend and lady of Princess Jonaera Targaryen, who herself arranged their generations marriage alliances between her Velaryon and her Targaryen cousins.
(Side note; she also has a love affair with Moriah of House Dayne, because this is my best friends sim and in my own fantasy series I am writing she wants a warrior husband with a lesbian lover so I thought that fit the asoiaf world quite well. 😂))

if its worth anything to you i offer this instead: karkats approach in phasmo is to do everything angry and screaming and i hear you say: leo, thats just karkat. but i present to you: fear rage. hes terrified out of his mind and the only way he can cope is by cussing out the ghosts he is screwed so tight its a workout on its own but he is in there!! and he is doing it!!!!!!! dave is a little spooked by sudden noises but he thinks the ghost models are cool so his strat is to just get a hunt as soon as possible to identify the ghost quickly and karkat hates it and hates him and they never play together but karkat does play w sollux and terezi who do consider it their sole mission on this earth to scare him as badly as possible. he likes playing w rose best bc theyre both meticulous about evidence collection and they do piss each other off on purpose a lot but it doesnt end in one of them dying the same way it does w everyone else karkat plays w. dave plays w aradia mostly, and sometimes john for the two seconds where john forgets tht they play like maniacs and then johns like oh right THATS why i never fucking play w dave!!

@probablycrazy i blame you for this.
the vissie into BRG Au, but i write Viserys thoughts on it.
Cole said nothing as his daughter disembarked with his first grandchild. He said nothing, and Viserys wished he could believe that silence was denial.
Rhaenyra stepped off carrying the child, a gentle smile on her face. Motherhood suited her, even if the thought alone had brought him to panic about losing her.
His goodson followed after her and Viserys’s hand found Blackfyre. If he dared tried to shame Rhaenyra, if he dared insult is daughter, Rhaenys or no, he would remove him from her side.
“Your grace,” Rhaenyra said. “May I introduce Visenya Targaryen, second of her name.”
He held his arms out for her, she practically a copy of Rhaenyra! Down to her little toes and wide eyed gaze.
“She looks like you,” Alicent remarked like she hadn’t spread the rumours of her being dark of hair and black of eyes.
Ser Laenor beamed. “Isn’t she perfect?”
She was, and for now it was enough.

every time chandler friends talks about his “dad” (who the writers have retroactively confirmed is a trans woman) and how horrible his life was with her around he gives an example like “in high school [she’d] come to all of my swim meets dressed as a different hollywood starlet” as if that doesn’t automatically make her the coolest character in the show

THE WEDDING OF DEIMOS VELARYON AND ELENDA SWANN.
On the wedding day of Deimos Velaryon and Elenda Swann, the lady Vhaenessa Velaryon has presented her brother and new sister-by-law a gift each.
To Elenda she has gifted an elaborate necklace that her father, Corlys Velaryon, once gave to her mother, the Princess Rhaenys Targaryen, on the fifth anniversary of their own marriage. The golden necklace features a seahorse, a call to the sigil of House Velaryon, and is dripping with elaborate gemstones such as aquamarine, blue sapphires, pearls, opal and mother of pearl. Though the necklace was given to Vhaenessa on her own name day of eight and ten by her mother, Vhaenessa has presented it to Elenda in a decorative box lined with teal velvet. She has given the necklace with the knowledge that the Princess Rhaenys would not only approve of the match between she and Deimos, but that she would gift her with a similar piece if she were still living. Vhanessa sees the necklace as jewelry befitting a Ruling Lady of Driftmark.
To her brother, Vhaenessa has gifted a spyglass that she had commissioned herself. Made by one of the best nautical-instrument crafters in the Realm, the golden spyglass is simple in form, but when fully extended features an engraving of her brother’s great dragon, Sea Smoke, flying over the castle of High Tide on its barrel. The leveling tube, as well as both ends of the spyglass, have been etched with rolling ocean waves. The compass face at the base of the spyglass has been set subtly with mother-of-pearl, and the face itself features the sigil of House Velaryon — the eye of the seahorse made by a simple aquamarine stone similar to that of the necklace she has gifted his new wife. On the bottom of the spyglass, the words “My Older brother, the Truest and the Bravest of us all,” have been etched into the metal.

The Parallels between Laena and Rhaenyra
Tumblr media
Crédit to @beneaththeweirwood
They both were friends from the beginning and something that is really interesting is how their relationship was so deep and how it affected both their lives.
Whether you think they were more than friends or not, we can not deny Rhaenyra and Laena shared a bond not many have in the World of Ice and Fire.
Maybe Laena was lesbian or bisexual or asexual (I just love how most of Corlys' children seemed to have been LGBTQIA) as at first we are told Laena seemed to have been more interested in dragons than in men (and this opinion never changes) and later that many across the Narrow Sea seemed to have found her surpassingly lovely.
According to speculations it is possible Laena had had affairs with other men and women before Daemon, or Laena perhaps had already had been in a relationship with Rhaenyra and if she married Daemon they both could keep seeing her one way or another, or maybe Laena simply wedded Daemon because he would not judge her for not really being interested in having sex and at least that way she would fulfill her duty with someone she trusted and Daemon would get heirs and still support Rhaenyra. (Daemon never impregnated Rhaenyra during that time because it would be obvious if the child looked like him - who would be supposed to be the great-uncle of the child so it would be obvious -, and also because you like it or not and choose to believe it or not, Daemon respected Laena, as well as Rhaenys and Corlys enough to not mess with the matters of their House and because Daemon wanted his own children to be recognized as Targaryens not bastards considering how proud he is.)
Either way, it's interesting how many things played out on these scenarios that are so similar:
- Both had been considered heirs to the Iron Throne, Laena was passed over by her brother's claim both to the Iron Throne and Rhaenyra was usurped by the useless Sloth Aegon; and even then their descendants claimed thrones and prowess and overthrew the bunch of the Green traitors, Rhaenyra's sons, grandsons and granddaughters became kings and queens and another grandson of Rhaenyra became the best knight Westeros ever saw and other two granddaughters created alliances, while Laena's grandchildren through Baela were Lords of Driftmark and her daughter Rhaena improved the relations of House Targaryen with the Vale and targified House Hightower making them a cadet-branch that would have to follow the orders of House Targaryen.
- Daughters and granddaughters of Heirs to the Iron Throne.
- Both were dragonriders from a young age in a remarkable manner.
- Laena gave birth to the dragon twins Baela and Rhaena in her first pregnancy and later in her second birth her son (Baellian in my headcanons) who had a draconian appearance, only lived for an hour and then died with Laena following three days later, depriving her of seeing her daughters grow up and couldn't even get to name her son herself because of her illness.
- They both lost the youngest of their children, Laena's only son and Rhaenyra's only daughter, before tragedies followed them: Laena had a burning fever for three days before losing her strength and dying, while Rhaenyra lost almost all of her sons and was murdered by her half-brother.
- Rhaenyra after having her first three sons, married Daemon and with him she had two more sons in different pregnancies and then in her last pregnancy she miscarried and gave birth to a stillborn daughter Visenya, later to add salt to the wound she saw her first three sons die one by one and thought baby Viserys had died in the sea as well, only having Aegon the Younger and her stepdaughters Baela and Rhaena around.
- And more important, after all their battles and opposition from enemies their lines were the ones that carried on with their Houses.
These two women had many things in common and even if the world wanted to drift them apart, their bond was so strong that even death couldn't do them apart; Laena's daughters protected Rhaenyra's sons and gave them agency and Aegon III named a son and a daughter after both of them, and Viserys II named his son Aemon after Baela and Rhaena's great-grandfather, and spent a lot of time with them flying, visiting them and listening to them.

Sometimes angst is about catharsis and holding your hand and going "it's ok".
But also most of the time it's dramatically pointing at a character and going "DOWN THE STAIRS YOU GO, PATHETIC ONE."

{ @fullrangeofemotions }
Feet tucked up into her seat with her, Helaena hummed as she listened to the sounds of the waves beyond her balcony and basked in the warmth of the sun streaming into the room. The sound of the waves was not as strong here as it was at High Tide. But, she could hear the waves when not so long ago she had resided in a place where she could not. Hearing them was what mattered. The volume did not. Smiling down at her sleeping daughter, Helaena shifted her closer, moving her so she was braced more comfortably against her shoulder. Her daughter never stirred, little fingers only curling tighter into the neck of her gown once she was settled.
When the door to the sitting room creaked open, Helaena smiled as she turned to look in its direction. She expected to find Oliver or Dinah there. The two had been frequenting her rooms since she’d arrived the night before, ensuring that she and her daughter were well. The visitor that she found hovering in the doorway was the last individual she had expected to venture to her rooms.
“Lady Tully,” she spoke, her tone neutral. She was uncertain what to expect from such a visit. She though it best to err upon the side of caution. “Your cousin is not here,” she continued. If only he had been. Or Lady Dinah. Or her sister and good-brother. Tempers seldom seemed to rise when her sister and her husband were present.
