i told the stars about you — op.81 (royalty au)
pairing: prince!oscar piastri x lady-in-waiting!reader
word count: 1.5k
warnings: angst? heartbreak, slightly inaccurate and semi-confusing greek mythology references, a spot-the-princess-diaries quote just bc i can
I actually wrote this listening to the bridgerton soundtrack... it's not what I usually write so I hope it's okay! please lmk what you think and if you'd like to see more like this. for extra heartbreak, listen to "love is a choice" from the bridgerton soundtrack on repeat while reading happy reading! love mimi 🤍
Tumblr media
It was an accident really. Well, less of an accident and more of a cruel twist of fate if you had to summarise it. After all, such a cliche thing to happen. The lady-in-waiting to the Princess falls in love with the visiting Prince her future ruler is tied to in an arranged marriage.
Had any sensible person heard the predicament you were in they may have sympathised but still scoffed at how foolishly the two of you were behaving. Desperately entangling yourselves with one another despite the inevitable heartbreak that was bound to come any day now.
“Did I ever tell you how much I love the stars?” You led on your back on the grass underneath the night’s sky, delicately raising a hand to trace invisible lines between each star above you. Oscar chuckled next to you as his hand slid over yours, joining you in your night sky tracing, “I believe you may have mentioned it once or twice before…” You gave a faint smile as your arm grew tired, choosing to link your hand with his and rest them by your sides. “Have I ever told you why?” Oscar rolled onto his side, facing you as his eyes searched yours, smiling at the way they reflected the moonlight,
“Actually, I don’t think you have told me that.” You sat up quickly, always excited to share the story with someone.
Oscar sat up before he moved to sit behind you, pulling you to lean back into his chest as his arms encircled your body, head gently resting on your shoulder. “See that star up there?” You pointed to almost directly above you, “That’s the North Star isn’t it?” You nodded and turned your head to reward his correct answer with a soft kiss to the cheek. “Mmhmm! When I was a child, my mother used to tell me stories of the stars every night…” You sighed happily at the memories, “There was one story that I loved far more than any others. The story of Perseus and Andromeda.” “I think I learned about that a long time ago… During my classical classes…” “Show off…” You reached one hand up to gently flick his nose. “Well, the story goes that Princess Andromeda was a very beautiful woman. Her mother, Queen Cassiopeia, claimed her daughter was more beautiful than Poseidon’s daughters. As punishment for her vanity, Poseidon sent the sea monster Cetus. Andromeda’s father, King Cepheus, trusted the sea monster to disappear if they were to sacrifice her. Just before she was devoured by the sea monster, Perseus came by on his flying horse Pegasus. He was on his way home after one of his great adventures. Perseus fell in love with the beautiful Andromeda and struck a deal with her parents. Perseus would save their daughter by killing the sea monster and in return he would be allowed to marry her. Andromeda however, was already promised to marry another man, Phineus. A fight arose between the two which Perseus eventually won. And so Perseus and Andromeda lived happily ever after.”
Oscar smiled at the sight of your eyes lighting up as you told the story. He nuzzled his nose into your neck making you giggle as you carried on, “All of the people in the story were placed in the sky by the gods, so their story would never be lost. Perseus and Andromeda are still positioned close together in the sky, where they rotate around the North Star, see?” Oscar’s eyes followed to where you were pointing once more. He kissed your cheek as you gave a happy contented little hum.“Mother always used to say that lovers who needed advice or guidance would talk to the stars… And that those confessions of lovers to the stars meant that their love would last forever, just like Perseus and Andromeda…” You reached for the bouquet of daisies you’d picked earlier that evening.
“You know..." Slowly, you plucked each petal off of the daisies you carefully held. "I told the stars about you." Oscar chuckled, not expecting to hear such words from the lady sitting with him. "What did you tell them?" You turned to look at him and smiled, staring at his brown eyes. "I told them you have your own constellations on your cheeks." Your stare landed on the faint few freckles dotted on his face. He laughed, "What? What does that even mean?"
You showed him a half smile before looking down at the daisies and plucking the petals again. "I told the stars you have more stars in your eyes than there are stars in the sky"
His smile slowly faded, instead he looked almost like he was holding his breath, like he didn’t dare breath incase it ruined the moment, "I told them that you are the moon that shines brightest in my eyes when I'm surrounded by darkness. I told them I always wish for you on a shooting star." You gave him the daisies you had been holding since you’d sat next to him. All petals now plucked. Oscar looked confused as he took the flowers, about to open his mouth.
"Do you want to know why?” You cut him off with a sweet smile before he could even open his mouth to answer, “Because I got tired of asking the flowers if you love me or not." “Y/N…” Oscar’s voice was barely above a whisper. You spoke softly, "Do you know what the stars replied?"
"W-what?" He thought he’d lost his voice for a moment.
You smiled.
"Go after him."
Silence. “So will you…” “I'm in love with the King-to-be, and I'm inquiring if he loves me too…” Oscar’s eyes lit up and in that moment, you felt as if all the air had been taken from you. One of your hands gently cupped his face as your thumb rubbed over his cheekbone, “You really do have stars in your eyes.” “And your eyes hold the whole galaxy, my love.” Oscar pulled you close to him and sighed in contentment as you shyly buried your face into his shoulder, the stars twinkling at you both from above, as if centuries of lovers were sprinkling their blessing on the two of you. In hindsight you supposed it might have been a warning, that heartbreak would ensue no matter how much you loved him ⋆。゚☁︎。⋆。 ゚☾ ゚。⋆
“I told the stars about you!” Oscar cried out.
You stopped. “I told the stars about you,” he repeated, trying and failing to hold back tears that were already falling, “I told them that I would never let you become one and end up so far away from me, I told them how you said you would always stay by my side, and...” Oscar looked back at you, where you were now facing him.
“I told them I loved you.” Your eyes widened slightly before your face fell again.
“...We always knew this was going to happen. We cannot change what our fate is, Oscar, I mean…” You looked back down at the ground, clenching your fists tightly before you spoke again. “Your Highness-”
“Don’t call me that, Y/N.” Oscar said immediately, rushing up to you. “Y-you’re not a lady-in-waiting. I'm not a Prince. We’re just Oscar and Y/N, two people who fell in love the instant they saw one another.” He stared at you, not fighting the tears anymore. “Two people who fell in love under the stars… I want that Y/N back.” Your heart broke as his voice cracked, overcome with emotion. “Please my love…”
But still you said nothing
“Where’s the Y/N who would tell me she loved me, the Y/N who vowed to be by my side forever, and… the Y/N who would tell the stars about me?” You finally looked up at him, and Oscar searched your eyes desperately for a shred of his Y/N in you. A lone tear spilt over and fell down your cheek. Sparkling in the moonlight, it almost looked like a shooting star. ‘How ironic.’ He thought to himself bitterly. You wiped the tear away and as quickly as it had appeared it was gone.
Oscar’s eyes darkened, and he wiped his face, his expression hardening, “My apologies, Lady Y/N.” He said, his voice cold. “This has been rather inappropriate. I believe you must have somewhere to be?” “My apologies, your Highness. Permission to leave?” It was time to accept that the old Y/N was gone, leaving a stranger in front of him. And if his Y/N was gone, there was no reason to keep taking up a stranger’s time.
“...Granted.” You began to move before you hesitated, leaned into his side, whispered something, and left. Oscar’s eyes widened once again, and a tear fell down his cheek.
“I never stopped telling the stars about you.”
Oscar quickly turned around to watch you leave. A pained smile slowly spread across his face. He didn’t try to stop you. You wore a similar smile as you forced your feet to walk away. You wanted nothing more than to kiss him once again, but that was a dream you couldn’t have anymore. It was a dream you’d have to tell the stars about.

I'd gathered way back that Typheus's lair was surrounded by pipes because they're a Dad symbol, making John on some level fight Dad again. But I learned a moment ago that the disease 'typhus' derives its name from a Greek word for smoke, so it appears the same logic might apply to the denizen itself... 'typhus' is also a relative of 'typhoon', which others have linked to John's wind powers, but that's not really my focus here.
Cetus then represents Mom, based both on the use of whale as a sexist epithet (Blubber, huge bitch) and the mass slaughter of the fish in the sea which reflects/asserts Mom's infertility. Rose also alludes to massacres at the hands of 'whales' in the excerpt of CotL we see: the fat wizard Smarny (whose name suggests a kind of pancake) looks guiltily upon the dessert-textured corpse pile, and the final line is a Moby Dick reference via Jaws. These would seem to be the abstracted continuations of Rose spelling out 'shrew' on the refrigerator
Hephaestus then, must represent Bro...? His status as blacksmith connects to the Striders' fixation on swords obviously, but it would become a contradiction that Hephaestus repairs what Bro breaks? There's also some sort of racial angle I think, there's tidbits here and there that associate Hephaestus's charred black skin with his "lameness"... Dave says Mr. T's lameness is what makes him ironically cool -- which via Hephaestus becomes an implicit indictment of Bro? Dave says he's training to be a "lame gothy supervillain" when goth-as-black has been racialized by Oglagoth ("black ogle") -- which contains a note of bitterness about his emulation of Bro and the lame shades that darken his leer? There are numerous references to sunglasses (or other dark screens) as "lame" throughout the story that feel loaded now... and sexually loaded at that, since the racialized appearance of blindness (shades) is itself an unbreakable katana, and apparent lack (a disability or lameness) that signals comprehensive sight (total potency, ninja sword as BBC)... or something like that. The Mr. T rant seems to encompass some of the ambivalence around regard for blackness, and Bro's been chained to that line of thought like a Chuck Norris puppet
This all implicates Grandpa as Echidna, but I'm unsure how to connect the two. The Dr. Moreau epithet would mark him as a mother of monsters? Some accounts locate Echidna's cave Arima on a volcanic island? The matter of calling Grandpa "she-viper" (feminine phallus?) might align with how depictions of Grandpa as a sexual threat have a certain homophobic tint... I don't know. Unlike Hephaestus, I don't have a convenient word to latch onto to search for repeated motifs, though Joey's hatred of serpents would seem to retroactively encourage the she-viper angle
Hm... the lack of insult in Typheus-as-smoke feels off too, in the wake of the other three. Maybe it will all click later

chapter seven: perseus & andromeda – part one
(masterlist) (part 1) (part 2) (part 3) (part 4) (part 5) (part 6)
hello beautiful people <3 here is chapter seven !!
synopsis: After deciding to let Abby live, Ellie has returned to Jackson. But given everything she's lost, it no longer feels like home. She's sad, she's confused, and above all else, she is so, so very lonely. So when a group of strangers shows up and offers her a second chance, she might just take them up on that. Ellie must decide between staying in Jackson – and living with the ghosts of her past – or leaving in search of new meaning. Whatever she decides, her choice will have far-reaching consequences – not just for herself, or for Jackson, but for all of humanity.
Or,
Ellie saves the world, maybe?
(ellie williams x reader, post-tlou2, useless lesbians, slow burn, cross country road trip, lots of references to greek mythology, etc.)
Andromeda: Princess of Greek myth, famous for her legendary beauty. Chained to a rock as sacrifice to the sea monster Cetus.
[Lucy]
Besides the occasional infected, the trip had been relatively quiet. But, as with all things in life, everything is quiet – until it isn’t.
As she watched the raindrops pelt the windshield, Lucy recalled lectures from the meteorology unit in science class. Her teacher’s voice rang in her head: The climate and geography of the midwest make it prone to thunderstorms, intense precipitation, and tornadoes.
Indeed, it did. Thick, heavy drops of water littered the front window faster than the windshield wipers could get rid of them. Bright, forked bolts of lightning split the  clouds and illuminated the otherwise darkened sky. Claps of thunder shook the inside of the truck so loud that Lucy could feel them reverberate in her teeth.
The truck crept its way down the highway, unable to go much faster than a crawl given the thick wall of water limiting visibility. To their left, periodic bolts of lightning backlit the skyline of a nearby city. Through the haze, Lucy could just barely make out the old green signs of the highway. Lincoln, ¼ Mile, they said.
“We’ll pull off and find shelter once we get past the city,” Jacobs yelled over the storm as he drove.
“Why not one of these buildings?” Lucy asked, gesturing down the off-ramp.
“We don’t know what’s down there. Should only be a few minutes. It’ll be safer further away,” Jacobs replied.
As if on cue, a loud pop! echoed from below the truck. It wasn’t thunder.
“Shit – ” Jacobs muttered as he tried to regain control over the swerving vehicle, until it gradually came to a halt. He groaned, then sighed.
“There’s a spare in the back,” he announced as he and Alvaro prepared to get out. “Stay put, this shouldn’t take long.”
They disappeared from view as soon as their doors were shut. Inside, the heavy rain continued to beat rhythmically on the roof.
Lucy sighed and sunk lower in her seat. “Great timing, huh?” she said, looking over at Ellie. Ellie didn’t reply, instead wringing her hands as she nervously watched outside. It was obvious she was on edge.
Lucy took note and said, “Hey, it’s just a flat tire. They know what they’re doing. It’s gonna be fine.”
Keeping her gaze out the window, Ellie heaved a deep sigh and said, “I know, I know, I just… I have a bad feeling about this.”
“What do you mean?” Lucy asked.
“Well, the cities can be really dangerous. There are some really bad groups out there, and sometimes they’ll come up with these schemes…” she trailed off, clearly remembering something unpleasant. She shook her head. “But yeah, no, I’m sure you’re right.” She turned to Lucy and forced a small smile. Lucy returned the gesture.
Then, the doors flung open, gloved hands reached inside, and all three passengers were ripped out of the truck.
The first thing she felt was the rain – so heavy and so cold. She had to squint to keep the water from dripping into her eyes. Within a matter of seconds, her hair and clothes were completely soaked through, chilling her to the bone.
She lost her footing as she was pulled from the truck, leaving her scrambling on all fours. Strong hands clenched around her wrists from behind, and she desperately tried to gain purchase on the ground as they dragged her away from the vehicle. When her captor came to a stop, Lucy was forced to her knees as the sharp, cold blade of a knife pressed against her throat. The blade was pressed so tightly to her skin that any sudden movement was sure to draw blood.
Out of the corner of her eye, Lucy could see her father in the same position as a second captor held a knife to his throat. The gloved hand holding the knife was attached to a tall figure wearing a dark, hooded cloak that obscured the rest of their body.
Through the watery haze in front of her, she could just make out Alvaro and Jacobs wrestling with two more hooded figures near the back of the truck. Lucy frantically looked around for their fifth member, but Ellie had been pulled to the other side of the vehicle and was nowhere to be seen.
“Ellie!” Lucy yelled, desperate to be heard over the downpour. She thought she heard a voice yell from beyond the truck, but it was impossible to be sure over the storm.
“Shut up,” a gruff voice from behind her said as the blade pressed deeper into her neck.
Without further outburst, Lucy watched Alvaro and Jacobs as they tussled with their opponents. The strangers were quick and nimble, deftly avoiding the officers’ advances. But the officers were built like oxen, so when they finally landed a punch the hooded figures crumpled to the ground in a heap of fabric.
With their opponents knocked out, the officers stopped to gauge their surroundings. Over here! Help! Lucy wanted to scream, but the knife at her throat kept her quiet. She had no way of knowing what had happened to Ellie, but she thought at least one of the officers would come to her and her father’s aid. She was instantly relieved when they looked in her direction. Yes, yes, we’re over here! She could have sworn she even locked eyes with one of them.
Needless to say, her stomach dropped when both officers disappeared behind the other side of the truck. She kneeled tensely as the cold rain poured down her back, listening for any sign of life.
Next to her, the figure holding her father shifted their weight. “Hey, what’s going on over there?” they yelled. No response.
“Hey, man,” they said to the person holding Lucy. “We should get out of here while we still can.”
“We can’t just leave them out here!” Lucy’s captor replied.
“C’mon, they could be dead already for all we know! You saw what those guys did to the others.”
Her captor considered for a moment. “Fine, let’s go,” they said, as they removed the knife from Lucy’s neck. “Blessed be the light.”
Lucy didn’t have time to question the statement before the hilt of the knife collided with her temple and everything went black.
------------------------------
Lucy was still in her wet clothes when she woke, and immediately she started shivering. Wrists shackled above her, she sat leaning against the cold, hard wall of what looked like an old conference room. She brought her knees to her chest in a futile attempt to hold onto whatever warmth she could.
The blow from the knife left a throbbing pain in her head and blurred her vision. She had to squint in the harsh fluorescent light. Blearily, she watched as someone wearing a dark hooded cloak entered from the hallway carrying a tray. The figure approached and knelt in front of her, offering a glass of water.
Lucy turned her head in refusal, too weak to say anything more than “Nnn…”
“Please, it will help with the pain,” a gentle girl’s voice emanated from under the hood. “I promise.”
Lucy tried to make out the details of the girl’s face. The lights were too harsh and the hood’s shadow too dark, but Lucy could tell the girl was quite young – maybe 14, if that. She looked sincere, and Lucy reluctantly sipped from the glass as the girl held it to her lips. Lucy accepted apple slices too, glad to have something in her stomach.
The girl looked behind her as if to check if anyone was there. In a hushed voice, she said, “When he comes in, don’t fight him. He’s nicer if he thinks you like him.” Three sharp knocks came from the door, signaling her time was up as she turned to go. “The sedative should help with the pain, too,” she whispered as she hurried away.
Lucy realized what the girl meant just as her eyelids grew heavy and she was pulled back into unconsciousness.
------------------------------
As the drugs wore off, Lucy groggily opened her eyes to find a man seated in a chair in front of her. Unlike the others, this man wore a crisp, pristine suit and tie, face clearly visible. He was clean shaven, and his long, gray hair was carefully styled so as to leave no stray hair out of place. When he smiled at her, she noticed his teeth were a harsh, abnormal white.
“Hello, darling. Welcome back.” He flashed that awful smile at her again. She was still having trouble forming words, so he kept talking. “My men tell me they saved you on the highway out there. Nasty weather, huh? Lucky we were there to help.”
Lucy furrowed her brows, trying to make sense of what he was saying. She knew she was probably nursing a concussion, and forming coherent thoughts proved to be an arduous task. “That’s… that’s not… what happened…” she managed.
“Mmm… must have been a nasty tumble you took,” he said, cocking his head. “Head injuries are no joke, you know.”
“I didn’t… f-fall…” she stammered as she glared at him.
“Ah, my sweet. Perhaps your memory will come back in time.” He raised his eyebrows and made a gesture of surprise with his hands. “Oh! How silly of me, I forgot to introduce myself. My name is Keane. I run things here in the city. I’m looking forward to showing you around, once you’ve healed a bit.” He leaned forward and used his hand to caress her knee. Lucy tried to pull away, but there was only so far she could go with her back against the wall. “I think you’ll be very useful here.” He flashed another smile, and being almost face to face with it made her stomach turn. She spat in his face.
Immediately, his demeanor changed. The smile disappeared, his eyebrows lowered, and a cold, cruel look crept into his eyes. He calmly wiped the spit off of his face and leaned back.
“I see you’re not quite healed enough yet. Maybe next time I see you, you’ll remember how lucky you are to be here. Blessed be the light, sister.” He stood up and walked out of the room without saying another word. As he left, a large hooded figure entered, gloved hands wielding a thick baton. Lucy cowered against the wall as the figure swiftly crossed the room, coming directly for her. With one deft strike to the head, everything went black.
------------------------------
“Lucy? Lucy, hey, are you there?” a voice called, sounding far away. Hands gripped her shoulders and shook her back into semi-consciousness. In her half-aware state, Lucy saw the dark hood on the figure in front of her and struggled weakly to get away.
“N-no… get off of m-me…” she mumbled as she curled herself as far away from the figure as she could in her delirious state.
“Hey, hey, look at me.” The voice was soft. The figure removed their hood and gripped her face. Strong, calloused hands gently turned her face so Lucy was forced to look at the person in front of her. As Lucy’s vision focused, she found herself looking into a familiar pair of green eyes.
“Hey, it’s me. It’s okay. You’re okay.” Ellie talked as she unlocked the shackles above Lucy’s head. “I’m gonna get you out of here. Can you walk?” Lucy nodded weakly, but as Ellie helped her stand up, she almost collapsed.
“Woah, woah, okay. That’s okay. Just hold on, alright?” Ellie wrapped one arm around Lucy’s back and the other under her knees as she picked her up. With whatever strength she could muster, Lucy wrapped her arms tightly around Ellie’s neck. She tucked her face into Ellie’s chest to block out the harsh light that made her head throb.
Lucy was conscious enough to keep herself upright, but otherwise everything passed in a blur. She registered doors opening, strange voices, the sensation of being set down and picked back up again. Occasionally, Ellie would mumble something like, “Hey, stay with me, okay?” or, “Almost out, just a little further.”
Eventually, everything faded to quiet. Lucy felt herself being laid on the ground, head propped up on something soft and solid. She managed to open her eyes, and was met not with the harsh fluorescence of before, but with soft morning light peeking through a leafy canopy. Above her, she watched as Ellie smiled softly down at her. Lucy’s head was in Ellie’s lap, and Ellie gently brushed stringy pieces of hair out of her face.
“Hey, you’re okay. I’ve got you,” Ellie said. “We’re safe, for now. You can rest if you need to.”
Grateful for the invitation, Lucy didn’t fight it this time as she slipped back into unconsciousness.

A serene quiet had descended on the ship, the night cycle creating an illusory calm among the residents. Maris imagined what the others did on occasion, but not tonight. Now with June’s arms around her and the stars shining overhead.
With a sigh, she snuggled closer to June, the warmth of his body enough to chase away the chill of the room. Stars danced on the ceiling, the projector displaying the Earth’s many constellations across the grey metal panels, white pinpricks that nearly resembled the stars outside her window. June pointed at the one right above their heads, a smile tilting the corners of his lips.
“That’s Canis Major.”
Maris’s eyes followed his finger as he traced the path of the constellation, trying to commit it to memory, but knowing she’d fail even before she began. Not that it mattered, when she would use it as another opportunity to have these quiet moments with June. Because she treasured every moment of peace they got.
“That’s Cetus.” He said next, pointing to one a little further away. “They used to call it ‘The Whale.’”
“It doesn’t really look like a whale.”
June chuckled, breath brushing against the top of her head. His hand ran along her arm, leaving goosebumps behind. “It’s just a name, Maris.”
She snorted, hands trailing across his chest gently, the soft fabric tickling her fingertips. “It’s a stupid name.”
She felt June’s smile when he pressed a kiss against her hair. “Do you want to complain about some more or shall I continue?”
Maris huffed, trying not to laugh at his question. “You can continue.”
June’s body shook in laughter, but he managed to find his voice to continue. “That’s Hydra. And that one there-” He focused on one that looked like it had arms or legs or something. Really, to her it looked like a spider. “That one is Hercules.”
“Why does he look like that?” She asked, frowning at the projection. Whoever the people who lived on Earth were, no human being looked like that. “It doesn’t even look like a person, June.”
“Someone is overly critical of a bunch of dead astronomers.” He teased, reaching up to brush a hand over her hair, tangling his fingers in the teal strands. “What would you name them?”
“Hmm.” She glanced around at the picture hovering above them, finger trailing over different forms until she landed on one. “That’s a crab.”
“That’s Perseus.”
She didn’t dignify his response with a word, instead moving on to the next constellation she saw. “That looks like a snail.”
“That’s Serpens.”
“None of these make sense.” Maris muttered, giving it one more go. She pointed at the one that looked like a blocky body without a head. It couldn’t be perfect, but it was close enough. “See? That one looks like a person. Sort of. What’s that one?”
He stiffened slightly, breath stuttering in his chest. It took him a moment before he answered. “Orion.”
Oh.
She raised her head, concerned eyes searching his face for that flash of pain that usually accompanied any mention of his birthplace. Instead, she found him studying the constellation curiously, eyes bright, expression smooth of fear for the first time since she’d known him.
Maris pressed a soft kiss against his chin, earning a gentle look in response that had her heart stuttering in her chest. “Are you alright?”
June cupped her face in his hands, bringing her closer to meet his lips in a deep kiss that left her toes curling in her boots and her heart nearly jumping out of her chest. He didn’t pull back completely when the kiss ended, lips brushing hers tenderly, achingly.
A silent moment passed, a heartbeat, before he spoke.
“Orion is where I came from, but it’s not my home, Maris.” He trailed his mouth over her cheek, across her closed eyelids, before settling between her eyebrows, a lingering touch that nearly set her on fire. “You are. And being here with you, even under a fake night sky, is all I’ve ever dreamed of.”
Maris exhaled sharply, not even realizing she’d been holding her breath in the first place. There were so many things she wanted to say, but they all paled in comparison to the simple. “I love you too, June.”
He laughed, the happiest sound in the entire galaxy to her ears. Tucking herself against his body, their gazes returned to the stars projected above them, content to lay in silence and be at peace.

OKAY SO:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
In order of character appearance here is All of the icons for their web browsers.
Typheus and Cetus seem to be kinda outliers. Typheus is Close to Typhon and google tells me Typhoeus is a way to spell it, same google tells me Cetus is a greek character but my minuscule amount of searching done at midnight is not reliable in the slightest.
Hephaestus and Echinida though are very much characters from greek mythology. Hephaestus being greek god of blacksmiths and fire Echinida being the mother of monsters and also the mate of Typhon.
I can't find much about Cetus but Typhon is sometimes depicted with snakes for body parts and Echnida is Usually depicted with having a snake tail for a body so if Typheus is Typhon I wouldn't be surprised.
Fun Fact: IIRC Typhon and Echnida were created by Gaia because The Olympians imprisoned the Titans after they overthrew them. Though The Titans also imprisoned Gaia's other children before the Olympains (cant remember what they were called at the moment) which is what motivated Gaia to help the Olympains at the start- Very Messy Family Situation overall and that's not even talking about the main Olympian family-
But point is: IS THIS FORSHADOWING????

KLAW: Day 1 Post—Character Appreciation
@kingliamappreciationweek may have ended, but my submissions are just getting started! Thanking the lovely hosts @lizzybeth1986 and @sazanes for the extra week! Please enjoy this list of head canons I’ve come up with for our favorite fictional king. 😁
~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~
Tumblr media
Face Claim: Daniel Henney
In honor of his mother, Liam chose to use her house name “Shen” as his regnal name when he was crowned; this means only his family and close friends still call him Liam in public
His interest in cooking came from helping Eleanor, but his skill developed following her death when he’d regularly hang out in the royal kitchens under the watchful eye of Head Chef Anais
Liam and Maxwell first actually meet at Lythikos during the social season when Leo turns down Liam’s offer to play in the snow in favor of snowboarding
As King of Cordonia, his net worth is around $10 billion, making him the fifth richest royal in the world
Though his favorite genre of television is historical fiction, Liam was a huge Timian* as a teenager; his favorite professor is Eleven while Leo’s is Ten and Drake’s is Nine
He served for a time with the Cordonian national guard (aka the People’s Guard) as a search-and-rescue helicopter pilot and achieved the rank of flying officer
Liam inherited his father’s love of vintage cars, and he used to run around Ramsford’s seasonal Expo with Drake admiring the models on display
His celebrity crush is Han Hyo-joo, most notably from her role in Masquerade; he’s also been a huge fan of Jackie Chan and Michelle Yeong since childhood
Though Liam of course knows all his bodyguards by name, the five in his personal rotation are addressed as the numbers 2-5 in Greek, with 1 having been Bastien prior to his injury
He and Tariq bonded as children over playing trading card games (mainly Pokémon) and making fun of nobles
Hana begins teaching Liam Putonghua; he also relearns how to be sassy from her (as he’d stopped teasing Drake by and large after the latter came back for fear of driving him away again)
His favorite constellation is Cetus and his favorite Western superhero is Batman
Following a Disney Princess marathon with the gang, Liam decides he relates the most to Ariel
*Professor Time is the name of the Choices version of Doctor Who, thus Timian is the analogue to Whovian.

As Bruce turned the corner, the rising stench of decay assaulted his nostrils. Then again, the smell was never truly absent from the horrid place. Even as a predator, it wasn’t something to which the Cetus grew accustomed. Then again, perhaps it was the fact that instead of the more appealing smell of prey - like the bodies of sea lions, whales, and fish- the stench was that of rotting human corpses.
And Mount Massive didn’t have any shortage of them.
The shock factor had died in the very first moments following the automatic locks on Bruce’s cell opening, and the ringing sound of flaring alarms drove the sea beast from the lower levels of the facility.
How he had gotten there was as best a guess as he could muster; the last memory of the outside world was only Bruce traveling along the river, the sudden invasion of a tranquilizer dart’s cold metal needle into his hide, and the inevitable blackness following shortly thereafter.
The first memory of the horrific place which he had come to realize took the name ‘Mount Massive’ was the ice cold metal against his body as Bruce had laid sprawled and drugged on a surgical table. He couldn’t remember the exact procedures his body endured, only that they were excruciating. He remembered calling out more than once before a makeshift muzzle clamped his jaws shut. With his full strength, the Cetus could have snapped apart the leather straps binding his bearlike limbs and webbed claws down. But he had been so heavily drugged with some sort of chemical mixture that Bruce barely had the strength to search about his area of gaze for a friendly face. Hell, a human face. A kind one. But he had found none.
Their eyes had been cold and unmoving as they poked and prodded and tore into him and sewed him back together to be torn into the following hour.
And then Bruce had thought that when the cell doors were open, the horrors had passed! He could escape to freedom and leave this awful, terrifying place behind!
Yet the environment which greeted the sea beast on the higher levels of the facility were more confusing than procedural, more chaotic than cold, and instead of the smell of intoxicating cleaning chemicals, the air was rank with the stench of stomach acid, blood, and unmentionable bodily fluids.
Bruce had escaped from the frying pan and swan-dived directly into the fire.

Grass Airdrop Farm (5min, 300$+)
Good day, dear readers!
Today, let’s explore a unique project that you don’t want to miss out on.
I’d like to remind you that following my advice has already allowed you to claim over $2000 on Cetus Protocol. Similarly, I believe ZetaChain has the potential for significant profits.
Tumblr media
What is it?
You must have noticed that in all applications on iPhone, Android, Vkontakte, Yandex, Google, etc. you are shown only those ads that you may be interested in? You were either interested in this product/service in a search engine, or just talk about it next to the phone. Almost all services collect information about you and sell it to advertisers without your knowledge. Grass does the same thing, only you get paid for it.
The project collects anonymized information using 0.5% of your communication channel and sells it to selected clients, who use this data to train artificial intelligence models.
A protocol that allows you to exchange your unused home network bandwidth for future tokens has announced a $3.5M seed round from venture funds Polychain Capital, Tribe Capital, and Bitscale Capital.
How to get started with GRASS? Follow the referral link: (bonuses will be credited) https://app.getgrass.io/register?referralCode=auzgpTiXUxrGedr Choose to download the app — Download Grass (we’ll discuss security questions in the post) Register: Enter your email Choose a username (or generate one) Set a password and confirm it Enter the referral code: auzgpTiXUxrGedr
On your dashboard, you’ll see:
Statistics on point earnings
The status of your networks and the number of points you’ve earned
Unfortunately, VPN reduces network quality and doesn’t earn points, but you can also earn through referral leads.
Tumblr media
A mobile app will be launched soon!
!After registration, points will start accumulating within a few hours. The extension may take about 20 minutes to load.
I believe that a project requiring no investment other than providing your data, especially in the trending AI narrative, is poised for a powerful drop in 2024 on Solana.
Discord
Twitter
More interestingly: The founder of Grass discusses the possibility of releasing a separate device that will “look from under your network” and farm points/future tokens for you. Using the Solana blockchain architecture, thanks to almost zero transaction costs, will efficiently reward users after the token is released on the market. Claiming tokens/distribution in EVM networks is a costly matter, and projects like Grass would be impossible on the Ethereum network/not fit into the economic model.

Correction: Cetus (her name’s Hesione) wouldnt sell your liver to the grey market. She would hear you sold your liver to the grey market to get the money to travel to her and she’ll get extra worried and search the grey market and find your liver and buy it back and learn surgery to put back your liver. Cetus do caare
Cetus do caare… I misjudged her by looks. I shall provide Cetus with local candy and the drink of her choice…

CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS
Gilded Dirt, issue iv
After a long subaquatic slumber Gilded Dirt has returned to the surface with the BERMUDA ▲ SADCORE issue ! Drifting ashore this summer !
As though transmitting from within the ‘vile vortex’, the plaintive music of Weyes Blood serves as a warning to treat the open ocean with reverence. Between the reluctant mermaid of Seven Words, the amphibious starlet beckoning her audience underwater in Movies, the waterlogged chorals of In Holy Flux and the whirlpool of classical collisions on Front Row Seat - the real (and make-believe) horrors and wonders of the sea are never far from sight.
Taking cues from the imagined wreckage recovery of 2019’s Titanic Rising, we invite you into the doldrums in search of treasure; glimpses of a phantom vessel, underwater cities in rust, abandoned sea forts, devotional letters cast adrift, living fossils, vampiric squid, titanic fauna and any trace of life after all in the sunken catacombs.
We are looking for submissions of poetry, flash fiction and flash essays on the topic of..
aimless drifting..
"aliens" of The Abyss..
Andromeda + Cetus..
Andromeda (750% Slower)..

Warframe story, Act I: Awakening
Tumblr media
1. Intro, Awakening and Vor’s Prize. Earth becomes free to explore.
TW: Vor’s Prize is not replayable, link to the playthrough below: https://youtu.be/W0gHWGjzxSQ
2. Make your way to Cetus on Earth --> Saya’s vigil. Plains of Eidolon are free to explore once done.
Cetus intro cutscene: https://youtu.be/tVb0DpcJQmc?t=5
TW: Saya’s Vigil replay starts from the Plains, so for the first part of dialogue you’d have to read the wiki transcript:
https://warframe.fandom.com/wiki/Saya%27s_Vigil/Transcript (also I’d recommend to read some idle chatter aftewards)
3. Go to Venus -> Operation False Profit starts.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UiijDeTTdrk
Since this was an event, do Tessera defense wave 20 and face bursas as a substitute.
4. After observing Bursas produced by Nef Anyo, Lotus decides to send you to Fortuna to investigate Nef’s Operations. --> Vox Solaris starts.
Fortuna Intro Cutscene: https://youtu.be/mPTCq3LiZSE
5. After Vox Solaris, make your way to Mercury --> Once Awake. This unlocks Infested invasion missions.
6. The Conclave (My addition) - Teshin contacts you, offering to teach you after your long slumber. (Join the conclave on any relay.) He gives you access to the Conclave and gives you “Nightmare” mission challenges with special rewards. He also imparts some wisdom to you:
While Orokin craftsmanship was beyond any in the system, the true power of the tools was unlocked by mods – creations of Cephalon Samodeus. The warrior makes the weapon, not the other way around.
Knowing each enemy’s weakness and strengths is the key to victory. Study them, for a warrior prepared is the warrior that triumphs.
Mastering different arms will make sure that you have the experience and tools to deal with any foe. Seek them.
True warrior seeks to challenge himself, even if it means facing his nightmares.
TW: Teshin Conclave voice lines: https://youtu.be/N_e1W6nKeOc
7. Make you way to Mars --> Gradivus Dilemma starts.
https://www.orokinarchives.com/gradivus-dilemma/
Summary: Alad V has discovered a cache of Warframes on mars. Grineer, led by Sargas Ruk, unwilling to give the Corpus the valuable tech, escalate the tensions to all-out war between Grineer and Corpus. We get to choose the side we help and maybe be able to save our comrades.
Do 3 invasion missions on Mars for the faction of your choosing (You can skip this part if you want since the availability of these missions is a bit RNG and do just crossfire missions.)
Ending: After continues skirmishes, Alad V retreats having gained some tech out of it, and Grineer solidify their foothold on Mars. Our efforts helped evacuate more civilians out and free some of the warframes. Grineer vs Corpus invasions become available.
8. Rebirth.
– “Tenno, there are some reports of Captain Vor being alive. Please investigate”. Rebirth Cinematic of Vor being… alive is shown.
Link: https://youtu.be/y-exvbGpksM
Corrupted Vor seemingly starts a campaign against the factions. Void Fissure missions become available. (Additional note - maybe making this event as an introduction to the Void missions and Corrupted Vor would also be neat.)
9. Get to Phobos --> The Hunt For Alad V
https://www.orokinarchives.com/hunt-for-alad-v/
With the events of Gradivus Dilemma, the Corpus Board of Directors is dissatisfied with Alad V. Frohd Bek, the current chairman, contacts us asking for assistance to clear the ships searching for his whereabouts off infestation Alad V unleashed on them.
Do 1-2 infested invasions for the Corpus on Phobos. (You can skip this part if you want since the avability of these missions is a bit RNG.)
Ending: With ships clear the hunt continues but it’s probably gonna be a while.
10. The ties that bind
https://www.orokinarchives.com/ties-that-bind/
 – “Darvo has been captured by the Corpus, but he managed to send a message to you asking for assistance. Liberate him.”
Unfortunately, this mission is entirely unavailable in the game now, despite its story significance. DE could easily make it available if they moved Hyena boss fight to Phobos and changed it up a bit.
Link to the mission playthrough: https://youtu.be/X6whDvmYZCc
Summary of the story: It is revealed that Darvo is the son of Frohd Bek, and the later has captured his son and is pressuring him to take the now vacant seat of Alad V on the board. Darvo manages to deactivate the Hyena models but they are reactivated again and you have to fight them. (Their actual fight on the star chart is waaay later unfortunately.) Once defeated, Frohd Bek mentions “Project Tethra”, which becomes another mystery for the Tenno.
11. TW: Howl of the Kubrow. A short quest, mentioning a person from one of previous events. Best done after Phobos, when you have the access to the Void.
Unfortunately, replaiying the quest requires an egg and breeding a Kubrow, which takes 24 hours (or 15 platinum :) ).
12. Heart of Deimos – Unlocks Deimos and Cambion Drift, along with its activities.
TW: Heart of Deimos is not replayable. Link to the playthrough below: https://youtu.be/0UrvqXEy2cs
I’d like to add, even if placing Heart of Deimos here makes sense from the Star Chart progression point of view, it’s better to do this quest only after the end of Act III and The Sacrifice. The quality of quest, its visuals highly differ from everything you’ve encountered so far.
Links to all posts:

Warframe Story, Act I: Awakening
Warframe Story, Act II: Escalation
Warframe Story, Act III: Turmoil

NETHERBRIDGE, OCTOBER 3RD, 1813.  4:13 pm.LETHE LAKE.
tw: drowning.
It has been two hours since the search party for the Couple has set out to track them and bring them to the Holy Sanctum to be wedded. Some attendees returned to the church an hour after the search had begun, hoping that the elusive betrotheds would simply walk  in on their own. But, minutes passed and turned to hours and the sun had already started to fade, a promise of a dusk approaching too hastily for anyone’s liking, especially those of BELLADONNA NYMPH, JESSAMINE DAEMON, DRAGONBLOOD CETUS and DANDELION SPHINX. The four of them had been among the last ones to return, arriving shortly after VIOLET GORGON, LAVENDER ARACHNE, ORCHID BANSHEE and CALLA CENTAUR, full 13 minutes behind the agreed deadline.
But, the pair was nowhere to be found. What started as an annoyance and a possible scandal, now turned into worry and fear. Where in Heaven's name are they? Are they hiding?  Are they on a run? Has something happened to them? Hiding and running way never made any sense to anyone in attendance, but the hour is ticking late and people are desperate enough to think of anything.
However, there is something no one could have predicted or thought of.
The wind blows cold, rustling the leaves and it is VIOLET GORGON, HEMLOCK SIREN and IRIS VAMPIRE that turn towards the gates of the Holy Sanctum, waiting, listening. No one dares to breathe or even move when a loud, ear shattering scream echoes from the forest of Dendros. TULIP CHIMAERA is the first to gather her wits and reacts before anyone else - hastily approaching the gates in time to greet a SHEPHERD BOY shouting and running towards the Sanctum as if he is being pursued by wolves.
“Dead!” THE BOY screams, approaching DANDELION SPHINX and clinging to the priest for comfort and reassurance. “The young mistress! In the lake! I was getting water for my sheep when –” he pauses, gasping for air; “Good Father I swear to God and all the angels in Heaven above us that ain’t natural! Young master Crowley was there! Hair white as snow, it is! Horrible thing! He was holding the young mistress’ hand and – and when he’s seen me, good Father, he wanted my help! Said he’s being hunted! Said he watched it drown the young mistress!”
A loud, horrified gasp captures the attention of the crowd and they all turn to BELLADONNA NYMPH, hands covering her mouth and staring at THE BOY. JESSAMINE DAEMON rushed to DANDELION SPHINX and grabbed THE BOY’s shoulder, turning him to face them, eyes wide with terror: “Dead? My daughter? Dead?”
“Dead. I saw it with my own two eyes. Young master Crowley begged me to save him, but then he screamed and took off deep into the forest.” THE BOY paused and his attention returned back to DANDELION SPHINX. “That’s when I saw it, good Father. It ain’t of this world. A woman, all in white.  I couldn’t see her face, she was wearing a veil, but she just looked at me and then she was gone! Just like that. Gone! I didn’t even blink I swear to God, she was there and the next moment… not there anymore. I ran here the moment she vanished! It ain’t natural, it ain’t of this world…” THE BOY begins to ramble - but no one is paying attention to him anymore.
The guests all look to each other, some in disbelief, the others wondering if it is a practical joke played by the Couple. No one dares to speak for a moment, but ACONITUM FURY huffs and frowns at the crowd.
“What are we waiting for? We should go to Lethe lake at once! Whether or not this… apparition is real, we shall see. THE BOY is at the edge of his sanity, so something must have happened. If nothing, we should see what is going on.”
“A murder ghost, maybe?” DATURA UNICORN snorts in retort, but PEONY WEREWOLF is the one who bites back: “Hold your tongue! If young lady Blackwood is indeed dead, you will be sorry for your tone.”
“Now, now. We don’t know what really happened and what we will see. I suggest we all go there, together, as my dear cousin already suggested.” IRIS VAMPIRE interferes, but there is a hint of unease in the tone of his voice.
The company agrees and, accompanied by THE BOY who does not feel comfortable to be left alone, sets towards the lake. He told them, in great detail, how he stumbled upon THE BRIDE and THE GROOM, but at first didn’t recognise THE GROOM as young master Crowley’s hair had turned white from either shock or terror. The young lady Blackwood was half ashore and half in the lake, but he admits he could not see her face. The repeated how THE GROOM seemed panicked, saying over and over how he’s being watched and hunted by something he cannot escape from. THE BOY said how THE GROOM screamed at something and took off deeper in the woods and that he’s seen THE WHITE LADY look at him and then vanish. The company is divided - some believe his words, some don’t and they begin to quarrel among themselves –
They reach Lethe lake and JESSAMINE DAEMON lets out a heartbreaking scream. BELLADONNA NYMPH, ACONITUM FURY and IRIS VAMPIRE rush to her side, followed by DANDELION SPHINX, DRAGONBLOOD CETUS and LAVENDER ARACHNE, but they are all struck with mortification when CALLA CENTAUR wads in the lake and turns over the body.
It is true.
THE BRIDE IS DEAD.
THE GROOM IS MISSING.
But, there is no apparition, nothing to vouch for the rest of THE BOY’S testimony. Yet, HEMLOCK SIREN, VIOLET GORGON, PEONY WEREWOLF, ORCHID BANSHEE, YARROW HYDRA and ROSE HARPY are uneasy, instinctively looking at each other. Something is not right, but no one can pinpoint exactly what is wrong.
“My brother is still missing.” ORCHID BANSHEE quietly speaks, interrupted by JESSAMINE DAEMON’S sobbing.
“We should all go looking for him. It is getting dark and the forest is not as safe once the sun sets.” TULIP CHIMAERA offered, but she is aware not everyone will agree to follow along - JESSAMINE DAEMON the first. However, those who joined the search and those who had decided to stay with JESSAMINE DAEMON agreed to meet in the HOLY SANCTUM at dusk, in two hours time.
EVENT DETAILS:
WELCOME to our second event! This is a PART TWO of our two part event. IN GAME, part two lasts for TWO HOURS so until 6:13pm the same day. OOC. the event will last from TODAY, OCTOBER 19TH, until WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 2ND. which gives both our current and future members enough time to plot and interact on dash. Wrebil are owl like alien race of the archipelagic planet Unrihiri in the Ujoophax system. In the part in the Cetus Constellation, these were the successor of Zirenin race. The reason of the Zirenin’s departure is unknown, some theorized the Zirenins drove themselves towards extinction and searching for a new home among the stars. They have ear bones inside on their heads just like mammals of Gaia, and they two head crests for attracting mates. The faces of the Wrebil’s are sensitive to touch, They nuzzle to show their affection.
