correct me if I'm wrong but I was just thinking about the roykeeley in season two of it all, and that fight where Keeley loses it at Roy for being clingy because she can't handle how close they are now that they work in the same building but like,,, Keeley and Roy would have been working in the same building while dating for a good chunk of season one as well.

She started working at Nelson Road before Jamie was even sent back to Manchester. They would of had months working in the same building, so either Roy has always been that clingy and Keeley just didn't mind at first, which I found doubtful given that it only takes her like a week to blow up at him for it in season two, or Roy being clingy is an out of character thing for him to be doing that should've raised some kind of red flag to friends and loved ones that I feel like from what we know about Keeley as a character would've been treated with more empathy than she actually had in the show.

#i'm going off of memory so this might not be anything #but wasn't one of her complaints that he sat quietly in her office reading when they were on break? #girl how is that being clingy and not just regular levels of wanting to spend time with your partner? #I stand by that Roy wasn't in the wrong for that #I actually stand by Roy not being in the wrong for MOST of his relationship with Keeley #I don't even think he was wrong for breaking up with her #I will not ever view breaking off a relationship you aren't happy in as selfish #and I don't care how much the show tries to make me view him as selfish for it or like he threw something good away #no he didn't #just because Keeley was hurt by being broken up with (understandable reaction) does not mean Roy did the wrong thing by breaking up with he #he looked at the way their relationship was going and saw that he wouldn't be happy if he stayed so he left #and the show tried to frame that as a bad thing #“maybe i should've just stuck around and enjoyed it” #no sir that's not how these things work #staying in a failing relationship just because you don't want to be alone isn't healthy you did the right thing #your career and your love life aren't metaphors for each other #and let me be clear Roy and Keeley were 100% a failing relationship right from the start of season 2 with the fight that inspired this post #keeley's feelings about the breakup aren't more valid then Roy's just because she's the hurt party #and they clearly broke up amicably if Keeley is willing to sit down and tell Phoebe about it with him #she wasn't jilted or wronged in any way and the show framing it like that grinds my fucking gears

My mom tested positive for covid 😑

In the first fully homebrew adventure I DMed, I was still developing the megadungeon between sessions. The players caught up to my prep so I had the bright idea to introduce a fourth wall breaking deity who was still "making" the place, and teleported them to a spot i'd already finished.

Later in the same adventure I came to terms with my toxic expectations for myself and the DM v players attitude I'd developed, so the stranger showed up exhausted and mad at something the party did "wrong". A well-rested version of the stranger appeared, peacefully put the first one to sleep, apologized for his behaviour, and disappeared. I bore my soul for that role, but my players were just kinda confused.

I've been thinking about the three bosses Liv has had since being in command and how...I really miss Dodds. I think he was the best, storyline/plot driving wise. Garland would maybe be the easiest to work for, but Dodds was more balanced I think, between being an antagonist to Liv and backing her play.

Kind of like Goldilocks story. Garland was too agreeable, McGrath is only antagonistic, but Dodds was just right.

But it also makes me think of one of my favorite scenes from SVU, which is the interrogation of Patton in Forgiving Rollins. I like it so much because it cemented who Dodds is for me (and Peter Gallagher and Kelli Giddish were just fucking amazing too) and even when I disagree with his stance and/or actions I never forgot what this scene showed me.

So we've mostly just seen the political aspect and the antagonistic to Liv side of Dodds up to this point. Even in the scene preceding, he's defending Patton and pointing out he's a cop and should get the benefit of the doubt. With Liv, of course, pointing out so is the victim.

But they are completely setting up that's he's just going to be all in on siding with Patton. The Good Ol' Boys club is strong and thriving etc etc. But they also give us a little hint. Because again, we've seen him being the political Chief before this, but here he also mentions that he was a Homicide detective. Quick little line about live victims being hard to deal with but it's setting up his bona fides as a cop.

And then we have the interrogation. And it's subtle, but Dodds goes from Politician to Cop. He may have walked into that room thinking he was with an equal but it's not long before he knows he's just looking at another perp. Patton knows it too, it's why he gets pissy and then shows his hand by verbally attacking Rollins. But I am convinced that Dodds knew he'd raped Taymor before Patton tried to shift blame.

And Peter Gallagher is fucking amazing because it's all so subtly acted. It's just. The Chief fell away to reveal the (good) cop underneath and I love it. And never forgot it.

Kelli was fucking amazing this scene too. she can bring the more overt emotion like when she broke down in #tucker's office after kim set her up. and in liv's office after finding out she fired the shot that killed esther. but. this scene? #fuck. so understated and so good. it's not big obvious in your face acting but you can still see/feel just how #absolutely devastated and gutted and Exposed Amanda feels when Patton starts saying this is all because she was talking shit #man they set this up so good. Amanda was so so sooo careful to neither endorse nor condemn patton when they asked her opinion #and then it was all for naught because patton can just not resist trying to tear her down and she knows. she knows #that her squad Knows now. they may not know the details (but they do. they know enough. rapists have patterns) but they Know #but to bring it back to the post - dodds is a good enough cop (& person) to also Know. mcgrath could never. garland would but be unsure #my only wish is that they'd let us see more of a revelation of that Knowing from Liv rather than Nick. because Liv is the one #that Amanda half-way disclosed to way back in Educated Guess in s13
