my new batshit reddit-esque theory that someones probably already come up with is that rhaegar's rubies are actually a glamor, and that the "rhaegar" on the trident was actually lyanna who wore rhaegar's armor a la the knight of the laughing tree incident, giving the whole situation a layer of dramatic irony as robert unknowingly kills his dream girl in an attempt to save her from the person shes disguised as. this, of course, means that rhaegar is glamored as lyanna and gives birth to jon, and thus ned's "promise me" scene in the tower of joy is actually between ned and rhaegar. this was rhaegars idea because of the "prophecy" or whatever. it's perfect. except for the fact that it's utterly stupid

Can I just go off about this for a minute? Like, it cuts me to my core how @projectdestati incorporates character themes into relevant songs. This is my favorite so much because it's so subtle, but fits so perfectly.

This version of Treasured Memories solemnly incorporates Rikus theme in a way that is just so beautiful and perfect that it might outshine Rikus theme as a stand alone peice because if how much more weight it carries in the context of Treasured Memories.

It works because Treasured Memories is meant to play when Sora is reflecting on someone he misses- we see that mostly when he thinks of Riku.

We also know that Riku is a deep comfort and grounding presence in Soras life-- a constant in his most precious memories of childhood. We see this in Dream Drop where memories with him and Riku are featured most prominently in the Dive to Sora's sleeping heart.

Green Requiem has a phenomenal series on YouTube discussing the nuances of the KH Music, but I'd really love to do a mini series in the vein of @violethowler's Constructing Kingdoms series mixed with @tennelleflowers 's speculative video essays and @nikutsuneart 's Sleeping Realm theories.

I wonder how much foreshadowing we can uncover from the musically score alone... My music theory is shit, but I feel like there is a lot of hidden evidence to be uncovered and speculated upon regarding the series.

Ok- so I recognize that this is a stretch but:

"You heard a story about a guy who had everything, who never had to work for anything, and thought you were the other guy?"

Mei: Has always had a family, has a rich history, also literally rich, doesn’t seem to have a job (possibly an influencer? Not sure), never struggled/needed training with her dragon powers (that I can remember at least)

MK: Doesn’t have a blood family/Didn‘t originally have a family, someone with no past, not necessarily poor- but by no means wealthy, works as a delivery boy, struggles with his powers on a regular basis (emotionally and literally)

LOOK ANON YOU'RE NOT WRONG.

I think one thing pre-s4 that really set off my theory-ometer is the fact that MK, for the first 3 seasons, does not have a single flashback or implication of past history. We see child Mei in 1x03, Pigsy has those photos on his wall in 2x04, Tang "met [Pigsy's] parents", Sandy has flashbacks to whatever war he was a part of in 2x08. Wukong and DBK and LBD have flashbacks. And MK, despite being the main character, does not get anything of the sort until 4x06—and even then it's him struggling to recall his own childhood. Like, MK truly is a paradigm of that "no past, no family, and no name" description we get from Scroll Subodhi.

All this to say that Mei's (and by extension the rest of the gang's) "rich history" v.s. MK's "no past" intrigues me to know end. Like, let's look at this scene from 3x09:

Mei: "Does anyone else feel like- " Sandy: "-we've been here before? Yeah, it's weird right? But I know I haven't." Tang: "Me neither. And yet this places feels so familiar!"

MK: "Nope! Not me man—this is all new to me!"

And let's also set it right beside this scene from 4x05:

MK: "I wonder when we're gonna meet my ancestor." Mei: "I thought Monkey King was your dad!" MK: "He's not my dad—Pigsy's my dad." Pigsy: "Uh, kid? I'm not exactly yer uh..."

So, MK clearly isn't connected to anyone who was there to seal the Samadhi Fire, and we don't meet an "ancestor" in the scroll for MK like we do for everyone else, but you know who we do meet?

HM.

We go from "I wonder when we're gonna meet my ancestor" in 4x05 to "A simple creature, with no past, no family, and no name" in 4x06 to meeting Curse MK in 4x07, to MK saying that he doesn't "have a family—[he] doesn't have anything" in 4x08. Those sure are some dots.

Undead Coràzon Theory

(Or more apptly Something is Wrong with Coràzon)

Here I have complied my variety of reasons as to why I think Coràzon could be an undead of some variety and is just straight up hiding it from the rest of the party...

1.) Suzette: During Dob's reunion with Suzette, she says some worrying things about Coràzon:

"Just, be wary of the pirate. Just between you and me I think he's taken a bit more than a few knocks and bruises, if you catch my meaning." and finishing up the conversation with "I think he's... yeah..."

Implying that Suzette thinks Coràzon is... something? And Suzette is a biologist of some description, so if there is something wrong with Coràzon she would pick up on it...

2.) Coràzon Cursed Status: Coràzon is very vague with why the curse came about and his role in it. In Spot of Bother, he says that he isn't cursed (not explaining how he avoided this fate when the rest of his crew couldn't). Though he will occasionally make a light refrence or two to the possibility. Such as jokingly saying "Yeah we're all cursed mate, get on with it," in Mind Your Manors.

So Coràzon is obviously hiding something from the rest of the Oxventurers about his relationship to the curse. What that is, we can't be exactly sure.

Misc. Theory Fodder: (aka circumstantial evidence that could relate to Undead Coràzon)

- Coràzon seems to know more about Egbert's Paladin abilities then he does, specifically in Elf Hazard in which he is basically begging Egbert to use Divine Smite on Banshee (an undead, which is weak to radiant damage)

- Additionally, Egbert is always the one Coràzon is pushing into dangerous situations (or talking about eating his flesh). Almost like he sees Egbert as a bit of a threat (considering he's a paladin, one of the parties main suppliers of radiant damage along with the possibility of him having the spell detect evil and good, a spell that can detect undead within 30ft, it would make sense Coràzon would think that way if he way hiding the fact he is not quite alive).

- Coràzon getting into the Necropolis on Sea Manor through the weird cat-flap in a way that is described to be upsetting, ("To be honest, all of you except for Prudence feel a bit sick. You didn't really think that this dashing young pirate could do anything quite so horrifying. You didn't think any human do anything quite so horrifying and still live..." - Johnny, Mind Your Manors)

- We are yet to see (to my knowledge) Coràzon take any life threatening damage (unlike the rest of the group who have been burned, disembowelled, poisoned, have their arm almost taken off, etc.)

- Coràzon taking 3 necrotic damage for bee puns, which he is not allowed to uncanny dodge (Bone 2 Pick)

-Also Coràzon seems to be constantly surrounded by undead (his old crew and his ghost pirate grandfather plus the skeleton army) and is generally a bit too chill about it

Anyway I think it would be a fun reveal!

personally i think theyre mostly telling whats in the next episode, but it’s also a very interesting story outside of that. not sure if it’s from a previous work or made up for the anime but i like it

e1: "I finally felt something was strange. A dark hole. A sweet scent filling the room. I must write down what's going on in front of my eyes, or at some point, people will say that I am the strange one. But I have no paper... I don't have a pen, either. I scraped the tip of my finger against the splintered wall. Oh, wait... there's some red ink here now."

e2: “It’s amazing. The red ink turns black when it dries. Good, good! That’s good for me. Hm... where does this poignant smell of iron come from? Ah, well... And, what’s that thing with my face that’s flying around? I must write down every little thing I see and hear with the ink. Oh, but there’s... no paper.”

e3: “See? Here it is! Right here! It’s not high-quality paper, but still, it’s better than nothing. I slide the soft pen over its bumpy surface, preparing to scribe. What I saw last night was a sad man who could not fall asleep. And there, a cicada out of season is crying out in an insane frenzy.”

e4: “Long black hair protruding from the wall. It was swaying from the letters I wrote on the wall, and I was wondering what it was, but it was hair. What exactly is it trying to do? Is it growing in an effort to touch me? I just tore off that curious clump of hair. When I did, that mound of mane became very docile.”

e5: “No... It was white. Was it white to begin with? The paper is filling up with black insects. Where did these things come from? If you look close enough, those insects are in the shape of letters. It’s almost as if they’re trying to tell me something. I need to know more about these strange insects. If I open the putrid library, will I find the answer somewhere in there?”

e6: “Gather round and listen closely to the tombstone thrusted there! To the many tombstones. See, now, I can also hear the voices of a conversation, you see. The fact that I can hear it means that you can clearly hear it as well. But for those among you that can’t hear it, I must find a way to share. I’ll teach it to the insects...”

e7: “Ha, that is what the insects are teaching you today! They’re piling up. What’s piling up is the bottom of the ocean! The insects multiplied and filled up the paper. They keep screaming. It’s getting hard to hear them. There are three large pieces of paper. The other side has many poles sticking up from the ground. If the insects left from here, it would be very bad.”

e8: “Hey, Mr. Insect. Do you want to hear the story about the woman who came here yesterday? I was surprised to hear that there are people like that out in this world. Oh, yes, you feel the same way, don’t you? You know, that woman also had an insect on her face! My life was spared only because the insect on her face allowed me to take notice of it.”

e9: “Oh, it appears the insects are starting to argue with one another. My, oh, my! This might not be an argument. Is it... bullying? Everyone’s watching this. It’s better if you stopped. I’m watching as well with my very own eyes. Oh, the ink... It’s no longer coming out. I need more red ink.”

e10: “Oh, it seems that there’s quite a bit more ink. But I’m running out of paper! Oh, there’s paper in the other room, isn’t there? Is it possible to get there? Yes, but to do so I must traverse this twisted back alley. The spot where the ink stopped flowing is white, hard, and pointed now. If I dig with that, maybe I can bore a hole...”

e11: “I decided to head to the room next door through a new, gaping hole. The insects were whispering and that made me realize. Ahahah... what a fool I’ve been! I’ve only been following the orders of the insects until now. I won’t listen to what they have to say anymore. I rammed my bony body through the open hole and jumped out of the room!”

e12: “And so the warden read the bloodstained letters on the wall. The squiggly letters representing insects filled the entire space. It was quite difficult to decipher, most likely because the letters were written by the man who drilled through the wall with the bones of his fingers in an attempt to escape. The first sentence reads as follows: I finally felt something was strange...”
