synopsis: You've never believed in the braided vermillion strings that are supposedly tied in your pinky, where the other end is where you'll find your beloved. Not until you're standing in the middle of a story ridden room.

a/n: this is a teaser for the upcoming Enhypen: Tropes & Parallels series that i've been working on. i hope y'all look forward to it. please don't hesitate to tell me if you wanted to be added to the taglist. tysm 🩷

You listened to Jay, your class representative, in boredom as he lists the do's and don'ts for your next destination. Apparently, it's some kind of history museum where millions of stories are etched on the items that are displayed there.

Certainly picked your interest, but not enough to make you excited.

"I want to go to the amusement park instead." your friend Sunghoon, who was sitting next to you muttered, to which you agreed to an extent, but hey, this is your country's archive, might as well enjoy it while you can.

You groaned and stretched your back when you got off the bus, a chuckle caught your attention so you turned with a frown, catching Jay red-handed on his attempt to cover up his amusement.

"You think this is funny? My back aching is worth the lols?" you asked in disbelief, making small talk with the man.

"You acting like an old woman is funny." he corrects, patting your shoulder in a casual manner, "Come on, let's get inside. It's too hot here."

He trudged towards the museum, leaving you there with your thoughts for a moment.

The touch felt like a zing, it's always been like that. Conversing with him was easy as a pie, skinship was rare but when it did happen, it's pure electricity. Although, you may put this in the 'I admire you type of crush' instead of overthinking things.

You shrugged, entering the building and occupying yourself with the exhibit.

It was nice, finding some statues or swords cool. Jake triggers your ijbolitis when he starts lecturing you and Sunghoon about the legend of whatever sculpture it was that caught his attention. (you have to admit, he's an adorable nerd)

Sunghoon begged you to stay, but you blew him a kiss and left him with the aussie, opting to enter a room that you haven't explored yet.

When you step foot inside though, a gush of air suddenly hits you. Which was weird, to say the least, since there are no open windows around, surely the place is airconditioned.

You sighed, brushing it off and sauntering towards the small bulletin, there you learned that the room is full of trinkets between two lovers, torned apart by the war.

A story of an empress and her general.

Then, time seemed to stop when you finally set your eyes on the largest painting hanging by the wall.

You felt a pang in your heart, especially when you saw the letters that they had exchanged. The clothes, jewelry, all of their personal belongings felt so... intimate.

It was uncanny and you dumbly stood there, thinking and staring at the art because it looks exactly like-

"It's like I'm looking right into a mirror."

A familiar voice suddenly spoke from behind and you gasped, losing your balance when you accidentally twisted your ankle in surprise, but fear not, your knight in shining armor dramatically caught you.

"Woah there," Jay peered at you with concern, "Are you okay?"

Will it be a bad decision on your part if you say that this is more than okay?

ok ok matthews family lore idc idc idc

natalie thompson, the youngest of five, grew up in hatchetfield her whole life. she attended hatchetfield high and was with her high school sweetheart, kenneth, starting in her freshman year up to her graduation. he dumped her in the middle of the summer before they went to college, because he was going to get out of hatchetfield, and she had no interest in leaving.

she attended hatchetfield college for psychology, and in her freshman year there, she met bobby matthews, who was attending for history.

robert “bobby” matthews was the oldest of two, and had lost his mother when he was only five. he spent his whole life trying to learn more about her, which led to a passion in general for learning about the past. he attended sycamore high, and absolutely loved it there. he knew his school was considered lesser, but he loved it. he had no previous relationships before meeting nat, who he became quickly smitten with.

the two began dating a few months after meeting, agreeing to take things slow, since nat wasn’t completely over kenneth. however, when they started dating, she was swept off her feet by him quickly. they bonded over their love of learning and of hatchetfield. they were entranced with each other, the most annoying couple to be around when you were single. all their friends would laugh that they found their soulmate at orientation, you lucky bastards.

they moved in together their junior year, getting a small college apartment, and discussed the future. they wanted to spend their lives together, and they both knew it. bobby planned a big surprise with all nat’s friends, her parents, her siblings, everyone important to her, and had a big public grand gesture proposal on the hatchetfield beach. she said yes, of course.

they waited until after college graduation to get married, because they wanted their own house first. it being the 80s, they got one relatively easily as bobby got a steady salesman job in town. nat continued going to college. the two were the perfect stereotypical newlyweds, absolutely obsessed with each other. she was pregnant before their first anniversary passed.

eloise matthews was born only seven months later, early in her file very and setting a trend for life. she liked order, cleaning things up, being tidy. she was the “perfect” daughter, always getting straight a’s and never sneaking out. if she wanted alcohol, her parents would provide her so long as they knew she was safe, and everyone was happy. even as a baby, before she was in school, she’d help her mother with her homework.

she was only two when she got a little brother, paul. eloise was made to be a big sister, because she taught paul how to be orderly and tidy like she was, until they both liked structure just as much. paul was a simple kid, he liked trains as a toddler, history books as a child, and cooking as a teenager. he didn’t want for much, kept to his few friends, and hardly complained.

after paul was born, nat got a job teaching psychology at sycamore high. it was an elective class, and they also had her teach an english class, but she loved it. she adored the students there and sycamore, which (along with bobby’s love for it when he had attended) cemented to the couple that their kids would go there.

when paul was three, the youngest was born. christopher was different than his brother and sister, a little less organized and neat and tidy. he liked to follow his every whim, do whatever he wanted. chris was more adventurous than his older cautious siblings. he enjoyed the freedom his parents gave to him, was very chill. he played baseball in high school, had a good amount of friends, but wasn’t afraid to drop a friend for being shitty. once in high school, a friend said some fucked up shit about eloise’s appearance chris called him an asshole and threw him out of the house.

when eloise was fifteen, she met david lipschitz. he was not necessarily a bad boy, much more of a nerd. but the two found rebellion in each other, dating when his parents didn’t allow him to. his overbearing but loving parents were strict, so she was introduced as a friend that he was only allowed to hang out with at the library with a chaperone. (unfortunately for all of them, it was usually paul.)

when they were 18, david told his parents that he loved eloise, and he wanted to marry her. he asked their permission to date her, and they granted it. he gave her a promise ring, and they set their future plans high, applying for the same out-of-state college to leave hatchetfield and start a life together.

it came tumbling down when, just a month before graduation, eloise discovered she was pregnant. they got married over the summer and moved in with david’s parents. he was an only child, and both paul and chris still lived at him. all of both families worked together to raise money for the baby, and eloise and david both got standard boring jobs.

when they found out it was twins, david fainted. trevor lipschitz was born two hours before his brother, and he loved to act like that made him a big brother instead of a twin. the two were very different, with trevor being a cool theatre kid and richie being a nerd and a weeb, but they got along well.

the same year the twins were born, sycamore bussed paul and a bunch of other students over to hatchetfield high to see their production of brigadoon. paul was so uncomfortable the whole time, hating seeing people dance and sing. he realized how much he hates musicals, even if the lead was gorgeous. it was awesome for him when his nephew became a theatre kid.

richie had a lot of health problems, asthma, chronic joint pain, and hyperhydrosis. when he was 6, richie developed an ear infection and lost some of his hearing. the whole family learned sign language, and he knew how to read it, but his stiff joints made it hard for his hands to move quickly, so he never did it. he got diagnosed with autism at 7, and they looked into trevor not too long after to see if they shared it, but trevor had adhd.

when the boys were 14, they got a little sister. rachel was a lot like her mother, enjoying order and stability where her brothers were a little messier. she loved to read and did so constantly. anything that might happen to her, trevor and richie swore to protect her. she never told them that she could defend herself, liking that they wanted to look out for her.

paul went to hatchetfield college for technology, not because he was particularly interested in it, but because his best friend james was too. they became dorm mates, and by the end of freshman year the two had fought so badly over living conditions that they weren’t friends anymore. paul started dating a boy named wesley, who he was with for a few years. when wesley cheated on him, chris slashed three of his tires.

chris met amanda campbell his sophomore year of high school, and the two became best friends. she was considered family by the time they were in college, both going to hatchetfield. he went for architecture, and she went for art. the two insisted constantly that they had no romantic feelings for each other, but when mandy started dating some guy from one of her classes, chris would seethe. he said he just had a bad feeling about him, and his family was all kind enough not to point out that the feeling was jealousy.

the two ended up dating their senior year of college, and moving in together not long after. they waited it out as mandy finished school, becoming an elementary school art teacher, and chris started work at an architectural firm in clivesdale. he hated the commute, but it allowed him to do what he loved, and he was not moving to fucking clivesdale.

he proposed to mandy on her 25th birthday, and got married later the same year. they had the perfect story, high school best friends to lovers, slowburn. they had james “jimmy” matthews a year later, a rowdy little boy not unlike his father. he liked monster trucks, dinosaurs, and screaming. three years later, they had alexa. she was a sweet baby, liked laughing and giggling.

paul loved his family, but sometimes he felt a little lonely in it. his parents were perfectly in love and had been since they were 18. his sister and brother both found love in high school, and he was 30 years old, living with just his cat, working at a tech job he wasn’t passionate about, living for when he watched his nieces, nephews, and spiritual niece alice. all his friends he knew from work, and while his family never actively did anything to make him feel lonely, he was sometimes. he felt hopeless. after all, he couldn’t even give the beautiful barista at beanies his name, let alone ask her out.

(this is lore going up to tgwdlm, so it ends there but i want you guys to know that he takes emma’s name when they get married and name their son matt perkins, then their daughter is named addison jane, but everyone calls her aj.)

It’s WIP Wednesday, time for a little accountability, sharing your work, and getting a kick in the pants.

“Have you thought about selling your pieces?” Katie asked. “You could be making bank with these.” She lifted up the shirt to emphasize her point.

Steve shrugged. “Sure, but I wouldn’t have any idea where to sell them or who to sell them to.”

“I’ll sell them for you,” she said, “with a cut of the profits, of course. I sell at gaming and comic conventions, Ren fairs, sci-fi and fantasy conventions.”

Steve chewed on his lip. “I don’t make them very quickly. With them being all hand sewn.”

“Which makes it all the more valuable,” Katie insisted. “A hand sewn dress from a major clothing designer would be worth thousands, sweetie.”

Now, like I've mentioned all week (and will mention again in tomorrow's post so no one misses it) I will only be working on these four on WIP Wednesdays because Omega Escort Steve and History Nerd Steve are going to get super spoilery super fast as I'm nearing the end and don't want to lessen the fun of either story.

Also I'm not sure how much time I'll have with these today, if all goes well my husband will be out of quarantine and I'll see him for the first time in over two days (he had a COVID outbreak at work).

But I don't want that to stop you. Send them. Loads and loads. I can answer them on tomorrow or Friday if I need to. I'm happy to do that.

soulmates, loves of each others lives. can communicate without needing to speak a word, just through their eyes and the queer wavelength. have burned and killed and sacrificed and been willing to die for each other. a wildfire love that always flares high and bright and untouchable. the love that is still written about centuries later, that people go to war over.

gentle, soft, tender love. despite the language barrier they always understand one another, are two gentle people with the sun in their eyes, but with spines of steel. both the kind to step protectively in front of their loved one without question. spend all their time just holding hands and staring lovingly at each other.

badass gossiping ladies who get on scarily well once they can speak each others language enough. seriously theyre like the girls that are in a corner giggling and looking at other people and probably talking shit but like not in a mean way. partners in crime who have nasty sex ngl if you cant find either of them they are hidden away somewhere kissing filthy.

the long history of childhood sweethearts and shared trauma. somewhere between lovers and siblings, the love that comes with being so familiar with each other that the person becomes your home instead of a physical place. would fight anyone and anything for each other but also probably get into the most annoying arguments bc they try to out-stubborn each other.

they are just. such nerds. like seriously they geek out and nobody else can get a word in. but they also adore how much the other loves, like they love the way they love? they admire each others strength sm but also have strong Gal Pal energy. like they go out for brunch and look fucking hot about it as they philosophise about the book theyve just read. light academia envies them.

bheem x sita

ngl this entire relationship is just them simping for each other. bheem simps over how smart sita is, sita simps over how relentless bheem is. they both share the unspoken knowledge of how they'd go to the ends of the earth for each other and ram and jenny, and treat each other very gently. but also definitely swap sex tips.

Get to Know That Character! Pierre Sauveterre aka "The Marquis"

For today's sneak peek I decided to give you all a little info on our newly introduced French friend, Pierre. Since he's got a lot of history with Penelope that I most likely won't get to touch on completely in the next chapter I wanted to give you all a more in depth look at him. 😊

"Pierre was the person I trusted most in this world. He had been by my side in my darkest moments and had seen me through it all with kindness, patience and laughter. He was perhaps the most annoying person I'd ever met, but singlehandedly the most loyal and loving individual. I knew he wouldn't betray me, no matter how we left things or how long it'd been since we spoke through the years. Pierre would never betray me, would never do anything to cause me harm, would never abandon me." -Penelope

As shown above the relationship between Penelope and Pierre is complex and built on years of tested trust and loyalty. The pair first meet shortly after Penelope returns to Europe from her years in America (1980, 9 years before her first meeting of Hob Gadling) Pierre is a smuggler, a very good one, that also may or may not dabble in some side criminal activities on the side (arson, illegal boxing rings, and the occasional disposal of dead bodies). He's a gray character that is willing and capable of doing a lot of things deemed bad by society.

So, when he's approached to bring a pretty girl to some weird doctor he agrees. The money is good, like really good, and he's bored. Then he meets her, or well watches his best associates get their asses handed to them in a bar in Paris, and he's hooked. Penelope and Pierre have a long chat about the doctor and his friends and she tells him point blank she's back in Europe to kill them. After he gets the jacket off her she absolutely shuts down, curls into herself in this alley. Pierre stays beside her, talks to her and soothes her until she's ready to leave. And from that day on Pierre not only intercepts any jobs involving her location or capture but tracks down and puts an end to those involved in such things.

Now onto the obvious question, Lady, what's the deal between these two? Pierre and Penelope are the perfect examples of platonic soulmates. They slept together a few times, but in Penelope's words "it was mostly out of convenience. I trusted him, he trusted me, we didn't have to think about potential dangers or something going wrong. We didn't have to think." Now, Pierre flirts with anything that moves (except Johanna Constantine) and will tease and poke and prod until someone kicks his ass, but there are no romantic feelings between the pair (not that our possessive & protective Dream is going to care much about if he has to watch Pierre flirt and be close to with his lady 👀)

Peter scoffs, trying not to let the words obviously shake him. Ned has been wheedling Peter for what must be half an hour, trying to convince him to just ask out Y/N L/N, already. No matter how many times Peter says that it’s not going to work, that Y/N may be his absolute dream girl but that doesn’t mean she likes him even half as strongly as he likes her, Ned refuses to abandon the cause.

Peter still can’t stop himself from inserting at least an ounce of realism into the conversation. “She’s not my soulmate, Ned. Soulmates aren’t real.”

Ned groans, but before the other boy can try and persuade Peter that this isn’t a problem, he’s cut off by a new voice. This one comes from somebody standing just behind them, somebody who’s been listening into their conversation.

Peter’s eyes widen at the same time as Ned’s, and he turns around slowly to see none other than Y/N L/N grinning at him. There’s no way this could ever be happening, but as Peter stands there and gapes at her, Y/N’s smile just broadens.

“Well?” she asks, “Don’t you have something to ask me?”

Peter nods hurriedly before he can convince himself that he’s dreaming. “Yeah, absolutely. Would you, uh, like to go out with me?”

Okay but I wish my family would at least indulge my love of history instead of telling me it was pointless. Like there are so many times we would go to my favorite coastal town and I would want to visit all the historical sites I research and I would get the weirdest looks from my family. I still haven’t gotten to see them and now I realize I need to just go by myself if I want to.

I actually imagine they that are soulmates and that they maybe accidentally met her when she was a child and looked after her ever since. Maybe her family raised her up because they knew she was their soulmate and staged her meeting with them so the boys would leave the family alone? Like raising her for slaughter type trope. Except it doesn’t go well.

But once they realize she is researching about their home, they take it as their opportunity to finally reunite with her. Even if it doesn’t go as planned seeing as she doesn’t remember them at all.

I love the history nerd/ vampire trope so much to be honest. Like it’s literally perfect. I’m sort of not doing the best. I’ve had so many meltdowns the past two weeks that I am so completely anxious and scared about my friends wedding Saturday. Like I don’t want to meltdown during the ceremony or reception even though my friend is completely aware of my autism and wouldn’t be upset with me. I also have like the anticipation anxiety and don’t know what to expect as I’ve never been to like a formal wedding before.

“You’re just salty because I like them as much as I like Corroded Coffin,” he huffed getting out the car. “You have to concede that Abaddon’s vocals are killer.”

Eddie scoffed. “Do not. I haven’t heard them live. Way too many artists use autotune too much these days.”

“You sound like that meme,” he sneered, “‘Old Man Yells at Cloud’.”

Eddie swatted at him playfully. “Am not.” Dustin raised his eyebrow skeptically and he threw his arms in the air. “I’m not. I am a very serious musician, Dusty. The last thing metal needs is some band that can’t write or even play their own instruments. This isn’t pop.”

“You are such an asshole,” he said and turned toward the entrance, leaving Eddie to jog to catch up with him.

Eddie sighed and put his arm around Dustin’s shoulder. “I’m sorry. You’re right. I am being an asshole. I turned into the person I swore I would never be. Those shit for brains critics that hated Corroded Coffin when we first got on the scene. And that was wrong of me.”

So from 8am-11pm EST I will be taking asks to help me write. I'm really looking forward to it today, too, because holy fuck do I need to get back into the groove of writing again. OH YEAHHH the heights thing!! the funny thing is i was originally gonna have them have their first kiss in that scene? the more i thought about it though the more i was like "eh this doesn't feel right," and then it occurred to me that after Mike. you know. willingly threw himself off the cliff at the quarry, that maybe he's a little scared of heights now. it makes sense to me :D and ahhh i'm glad you can appreciate some of the awkwardness of their first date!! again: they are loser nerds!! and it's basically both of their first official dates, so i felt like they'd be a little awkward about everything. to a certain extent, i think they're both trying to live up to their own expectations, but also the expectations that get put on first dates in general by *society* or whatever. *insert obligatory we live in a society meme here*

heheheh some of Mike's behavior is addressed in the rest of the fic (or at least i sure hope i managed to convey it - anyway that's going up right after i respond to this, so i guess we'll know soon, right?). i've been dissecting his character with a spoon lately and it unfortunately bled into this fic. oops

- I'm a straight girl with long blonde hair (sometimes it's light brown in the winter but right now it has icy highlights), I have green eyes, pale, and my height is between 5'4" to 5'5"

- I'm told that I'm the most innocent person in the past, however I can be goofy if I want to. However, I'm pretty introverted and I tend to be alone at times.

- I'm super nerdy and I talk a lot about video games, fantasy books, movies, and TV shows. I also am a huge history nerd.

- I do a lot of dancing and I tend to dance to whatever kind of music I get my hands on. Speaking of music, I really do like rock music along with some indie/pop.

- I love art though I haven't practice that much doing it compared in the past. I also love writing poetry.

- I love small children (between newborns and 6 year olds). I don't know why I love kids but I think they're really cute and funny.

- So, one insecurity I have is that I never dated before. I don't know why I haven't but I think it's because I subconsciously protect myself from awkward events like dating.

- One thing to know about me is that I have a younger sister who I love dearly. In fact, I named her when she was born. So, I'm naturally protective of her.

- Lastly, my other favorite things are archery, walking in the summertime, baking all kinds of deserts, listening to the rain, photography, and daydreaming.

ever since nancy and steve broke up, he struggled with finding the right person for him. one day during july, when the weather was way too hot outside, you had decided that staying in and watching a movie would be perfect. so, naturally, you headed down to the video store. the first person who greeted you was robin. you knew robin from school, and liked to think you were friends with her, though not super close.

“whatcha looking for today, y/n?” she asked, smiling at you with that bright smile of hers. you sighed, “just something to keep me entertained for a few hours out of this heat.” you answered.

“hey, robin, it’s your turn to take your break now. i’ll take over from here—” a taller, more handsome figure approached behind robin, his voice trailing off when he saw you. of course you knew it was steve harrington. how could anyone not, with the hair? “hi, y/n.” he greeted you with an almost shy smile. he only recognized you due to how many times you came in to chat with robin. robin stared at the two of you, amused by the heterosexual tension that she obviously would never understand.

“i’ll see you later, y/n.” she chimed in. “i’m sure steve can help you out.” the girl teased, before heading off to some back room for employees. you smiled at steve, “hey. do you have any good movie recommendations?” you inquired.

“i, uh, yeah. yes!” he scrambled to find his words. and that was the first time he realized how attracted to you he was. the way your hair fell down your back, how pretty your smile was, and the way your eyes lit up when you saw anyone. everything about you screamed to steve that you were a kind person. the type of person he felt like he’d want to try and protect, as if you’d even need it.

after that encounter, you and steve grew closer, hanging out most of the summer, watching over dustin and the rest of the kids. listening to music late at night in his car, exchanging whispers and kisses and everything in between.

what can i say? you and steve are soulmates.
