I just found out about Jasmine Sherman and they look really cool. Like, the policies that they say they’re going to do? The fact that they have an audiobook option for people to listen to what the policies say on their platform? (If people don’t have JAWS or screen readers on their devices, JAWS for computers.) I really hope they get far enough in the presidential race. Although Cornel West is my next choice should he get far.
Yeah, sorry but Hell NO.
I’m all for audiobooks and JAWS readers, but I’ve never heard of Jasmine Sherman before and as far as I’m concerned, Ms. Sherman is just another throwaway vote. She has the same chance of winning the next election as a randomly picked name from a hat. Same goes for Cornel West and for 🤡 RFK Jr., and same for Marianne Williamson, and in fact, same for anyone who isn’t named (I honestly cannot believe that EYE am saying this, but here we are) Joe Biden.
Look, in 2020 I went through the same journey that I think a lot of voters are going through right now: I swore up and down that I wasn’t going to vote for Biden because he had (and still has, tbqh) a lot of conservative policies that I vehemently disagree with—LOL, don’t even get me started on Title 42, okay? But at the end of the day, I carried my Black ass into that voting booth and I begrudgingly did what I had to do.
All I know is, I do not want Donald fucking Trump in the White House. That’s it. Not “lesser evilism” not “he’s the next LBJ” not anything else, except for I’m voting for the person who has the best chance of beating Trump and keeping his racist ass out of the White House. THAT’S just about my only motivation here. Dassit. Periodt. I can deal with everything else later.
And I can live with myself with that vote.
But yeah, I’m Black and I gotta live not only with myself, but I also gotta live in this world and look other people in the eye. People who don’t even have my extremely limited level of privilege.
I’m not gonna go into detail about how a Trump presidency would make literally everything worse than it already is—and yes, sadly that includes Palestine, Ukraine, transphobia, homophobia, immigration, and whatever else is allegedly important to disproportionately ☭ white, online “leftists” 🙄 who keep telling people not to vote, or keep telling people to vote for candidates who cannot win.
As far as I’m concerned, Trump getting back into the White House is an existential threat to everything I hold dear. So no, anon, I will fucking not be throwing my vote away on some random ass person I’ve never heard of before, who has no mf chance of ever winning.
And yes, I still have problems with Biden. Like, a lot of problems. Like, a LOT, lot. But he’s the best chance we got at stopping Trump, and Trump needs to be stopped. That, plus I desperately want to see Trump pay for everything he’s gotten away with so far. Voting for Biden is the best way for me to give that a chance.
So yeah, I am deathly afraid of a second Trump term. And a big part of what is driving that fear is the fact that Joe Biden is vulnerable and super beatable. Like, his winning the next election is not a guarantee—did Hillary Clinton’s completely preventable loss teach you nothing at all??
Anyway, I’m not tryna write a book here. I think I’ve made my thoughts clear on Jasmine Sherman and whoever else is the flavor-of-the-day that can’t and won’t beat Trump. Biden is really fucking up and making himself even more beatable by unconditionally supporting Israel, and if he wins he might continue to fuck up, but I promise you that Trump will do unimaginably worse to Palestinians—and that’s not hyperbole.
Lastly, I really debated long and hard about whether or not to make this post rebloggable. PLEASE don’t make me regret that decision, OKAY??
Like, I know that a lot of people who unconditionally LOVE Joe Biden (that’s not me, btw) and the Democratic Party will be tempted to add, “VOTE BLUE NO MATTER WHO!” to this post, but I am begging you to please resist that urge, okay? I don’t know how to precisely put it into words, but unless you’re already convinced and have decided to vote for Biden, there’s just something about adding that braindead slogan that is incredibly off putting. It’s like an annoying ad that you want to skip and ignore on YouTube; it’s vapid; it’s old + tired; it’s lowkey offensive, and it tells people that you haven’t really given a lot of thought to anything and you’re just another insipid Blue MAGA sycophant blindly hopping on the bandwagon. Please find a better more intelligent way to express your support of Biden, okay?
ALSO, if you just search for Jasmine Sherman on Tumblr, you get a lot of anonymous asks like this
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And sorry, but having lived through the 2016 and 2020 interface elections, yeah, it just smells fishy af. Chipping away at Biden votes is another way to help get Trump re-elected. And Trump supports Putin and Netanyahu

A day in the life of Walter White wake up in your tighty-whities lie to your pregnant wife. Make sure the lie is completely ludicrous and easily disproven so she knows how little you respect her. Ignore your son. Break into the house of your former student/surrogate son/mistress and launch a series of personal attacks against his character until he agrees to do something for you that will leave him with lasting psychological trauma and probably result in his relapsing. Kill one of his loved ones for good measure. Cook meth. Make flailing Donald Trump hand gestures so that people think you are feeling real human emotions. Cry over the loss of your virility. Throw a live grenade into a children’s hospital or something idk. Go home and lie to your lovely wife some more then throw a bitch fit because she didn’t cook you dinner. Make passive aggressive bedroom eyes at your brother-in-law. Go to bed and get some rest. Tomorrow is another big day.

If I haven’t said this already…
If you are pro-Palestine and anti-Israel, either unfollow me, or reeducate yourself on the current happenings in Israel and The Gaza Strip.
Israel is not the aggressor in this conflict. They were attacked by Hamas, who raped and mutilated women, butchered babies, and burned the elderly alive. Hamas isn’t a group of Palestinians fighting for freedom from an oppressive government. They are a terrorist organization hellbent on eradicating Israel and the Jewish people. My people. If you think anything otherwise, then you need to reevaluate and re-educate yourself on what is and has been happening in the Middle East.
Israel’s current Prime Minister, Netanyahu, is an authoritarian wannabe, not too dissimilar from Donald Trump, the current wannabe dictator in the United States. Just as how a big majority of Americans do not support Donald Trump and have been horrified by his actions over the many past years, many Israelis are just as unhappy with how Netanyahu has been handling this war and the Israel-Palestine conflict as a whole.
Questioning Israel’s government is not antisemitic, but turning against Jews and pointing the fingers at us, is. You cannot hold the Jewish people as a whole accountable for the terrible policies of Netanyahu. To do so, only proves to Jews around the world that you were never our friends and allies to begin with.
You cannot imagine how devastating and traumatic this entire ordeal has been for Jews all around the world. This attack has brought to the surface a millennia worth of persecution and genocide. And now, not only are you accusing us of genocide, but now you want a continued persecution of Jews. You want us dead so the Palestinians can live. You all act as if you are so high and righteous in supporting Palestine, when in reality, you are supporting a terrorist organization that wants a genocide of the Jewish people.
It is one thing to support Israel, the Jewish people, Palestinians, and a two state solution. It is another to claim that you support Hamas and the atrocities that they committed on October 7th. You cannot support one side, while claiming that you support the other. As flawed as Israel’s current government is, there is only one right side to choose. Only one that reflects basic human decency and compassion.
To not choose that side, is to openly admit that you are antisemitic. If you support Palestine and Hamas, then please reassess your current understanding of the conflict. If you aren’t willing, or if you are antisemitic and hate Jews, then I will search your blog for any pro-Palestine, anti Israel, or any antisemitic content and unfollow you.

New intro Post
New intro post! How exciting! This is my celebration for reaching 25 followers so fast! Thank you all for your overwhelming support in this journey, it really has been a lot.
If you're new here, my boyfriend and I are both introjected from extremely problematic medias revolving around a very bad person that lived in real life. We are both from fictional medias, bit the person of which we introjected is very much real, and We've gotten a LOT of shit for it.
Spaces that claim to be safe spaces for systems-- or God forbid, safe spaces for *problematic* introjects and alters, tend to be rude or spiteful towards individuals who are factives from problematic sources.
I firmly believe this hateful stance comes from a place of not understanding, so I've created this blog to give people who don't understand a chance to talk and speak to us without losing their cool as we also stay anonymous on this blog. They're always nice until they find out who you are /hj . Since it's creation, the blog has since turned into a big place for problematic factives to just feel safe and seen. I'm beyond happy about this, and glad my blog can serve both purposes. More under the cut!
We post a lot of everything!
We answer asks from people who have questions about us or about being problematic factives, we make positivity posts for problematic factives, problematic factive culture is... posts, and lots of other things you could think of. Feel free to vent in our askbox or message us for a chat! We'd love to have a friend.
Some things off the top of my head that I can't do on this blog (but if you end up making a blog for these things and need a mod, totally hmu!)
Stimboards/Moodboards etc. - I would literally love to do these but the problem is I know like nothing about anyone. Of you were to ask me for a Donald Trump moodboard I honestly do not know what I would do my mind would just blank. That being said, in decently good at making them so if there were a person I knew well enough to do a stimboard on, I definitely could
Icon edits - This is somthing I'm capable of doing, but it isn't something where I would want this entire blog to just turn into requests. If you're making a blog specifically for these creative requests things totally hmu
Art - I cannot draw but my hope is that that changes in the future.
-
Meet us!
My last intro post didn't really have any information on us as people let's try and fix that.
I can't tell you my name, but you can call me Anxiety. I'm the main mod and significantly less source connected/more source ashamed. I go by he/Anxiety with Anxiety being able to work in place of either a name or a pronoun. Unless the host is helping out with something, anything that isn't labeled comes from me. I'm the only one out of the two of us with the physical ability to type so when he posts something, it's a little special occasion and deserves a label.
My boyfriend doesn't have a name option other than a source one. On the blog he has only been referred to as my boyfriend, but if you need a name for him, call him NPC. He uses he/him pronouns and will sign off any post that he thinks up all on his own with -NPC and tagged with # npc posts
Tagging
Here is some of the tagging we use on this blog
# problematic factive culture = Problematic factive culture is.. posts
# kindness and positivity = Kind and Positive asks we've received
# good thoughtful questions = Good questions we received as asks
# positivity post = Positivity posts
# problematicfactive blog things = things that ate moreso related to one of the mods or running the blog than they are about problematic factives
# rainy day drafts = drafts that could be super old because I made them and them left them in the drafts so I could post when I don't have anything else to post
# queued because I am asleep 😊 / queued because hopefully I'm sleeping = posts that I queue to be 5-ish hours away from the last post. I often post somthing at 12 am Eastern Time regardless of the last something was posted, so those early morning positivity posts tend to also be queued with the tag
If you come across us and like what we do, consider boosting or realigning this post! I'd love for as many people to find out we exist as possible
# askers experience = Asks sent in where an asker tells me about their life
# npc posts = posts my npc wrote as a mod on this blog (does not apply to posts where "my boyfriend's answer" is me paraphrasing or trying to speak for him)

some of those anti ts blogs willing to look past the fact that they got zionists in their circles just because those people also hate ts…wack
like do they realize it makes them no better than the people they criticize
being a hater is a noble pursuit, have some fucking morals oh my god!!!
ive always been a ts hater and i havent really known much about her until like last year because this shit is inescapable and its so bizarre how she seems to have parasocial stans and parasocial haters - both equally obsessed with her life
theyre like organisms in a petri dish to me
BEING A HATER IS A NOBLE PURSUIT HAVE SOME FUCKING MORALS!!!!!!!!
ive always been a hater too and got sucked back in around this time last year when she got with matty healy. i literally forgot she existed between 2017-2022 im not joking i literally heard NOTHING about her online or in my friend circle. and then i found out it was because she was in a 6 year relationship and i was like “oooooohhhhhh she was normal”
idk if i consider myself a parasocial hater but i do feel crazy that nobody remembers all her shitty past actions and i do. tbh sometimes shitswiftiessay posts stuff criticizing taylor’s appearance (it was comparing her face when she laughs to donald trumps) that’s actually misogynistic. im not stalking her every move so much as being critical and holding her accountable for her racism etc.
but its really hard to define parasocial hater rn when she’s the most exposed she’s ever been. so many ppl today on this blog were complaining how they were bombarded with taylor swift ads. i dont think this tag wouldve blown up if so many people werent feeling this way already.
and the whole reason i have this blog is because i felt so crazy explaining taylor’s history of racism and nobody caring/dismissing or at worst gaslighting me for even feeling this way. idk i appreciate all the other anti blogs but most of them are joe alwyn defenders (btw theres nothing wrong w that. but thats not the main reason im an anti) and none of them really talk about her racism. i made this space to talk about her and swifties racism, white feminism, etc.
and then oct. 7 happened (i literally made this blog oct. 2 its so funny) and seeing all the zionists and genocide deniers alienated me. i made it very clear from the jump that i was pro palestine and stood for the liberation of palestine so i didn’t post for a while and didn’t feel comfortable interacting in the tag cause it was full of zionists. it was also funny bc shitswiftiessay followed me immediately up until i stated my solidarity then they blocked me 🤣 soooooooo funny. so ive been pretty MIA until recently i got an ask abt jewishbarbies and that’s how im posting today :}

Elon Musk continues to empower Nazis. Kanye West (or whatever he's currently calling himself) has been reinstated on Twitter (or whatever Elon is currently calling it).
Kanye West famously brought fellow Nazi Nick Fuentes to dinner with Donald Trump last year.
X, formerly known as Twitter, has reinstated Kanye West’s account on the social media platform. West will not be able to monetize his account, and no ads will appear next to his posts, the company told the Wall Street Journal on Saturday. The musician’s account was suspended in December for violating the platform’s rules on inciting violence. The suspension followed multiple antisemitic comments made by West – who has legally changed his name to Ye – including a threat to “Go death con 3 on JEWISH PEOPLE.” Those statements led to a swift disintegration of multiple business deals, including partnerships with Adidas and luxury fashion house Balenciaga.
If Elon Musk isn't a Nazi himself, he's a fellow traveler. He certainly doesn't want anybody keeping tabs on the explosion of hate speech on the platform since he took over.
Elon Musk has over the last year threatened legal action against tech competitors, employees and people who use Twitter, which he owns. Now he is also taking aim at an organization that studies hate speech and misinformation on social media. X Corp., the parent company of the social media company, sent a letter on July 20 to the Center for Countering Digital Hate, a nonprofit that conducts research on social media, accusing the organization of making “a series of troubling and baseless claims that appear calculated to harm Twitter generally, and its digital advertising business specifically,” and threatening to sue. The letter cited research published by the Center for Countering Digital Hate in June examining hate speech on Twitter, which Mr. Musk has renamed X.com. The research consisted of eight papers, including one that found that Twitter had taken no action against 99 percent of the 100 Twitter Blue accounts the center reported for “tweeting hate.” The letter called the research “false, misleading or both” and said the organization had used improper methodology.
Twitter Blue is apparently a license to post hate speech.
In a blog post Monday evening, X announced that it had filed a lawsuit against the Center for Countering Digital Hate for “actively working to prevent free expression.” The suit was filed in federal court in the Northern District of California. Twitter’s advertising business has been struggling under the ownership of Mr. Musk, who bought the company last year. U.S. ad revenue for the five weeks from April 1 to the first week of May was $88 million, down 59 percent from a year earlier. Advertisers may have been spooked by Mr. Musk’s changes to the social network, including the removal of rules of what can or can’t be said on the service and more ads featuring online gambling and marijuana products.
Hate speech is a major turnoff for most advertisers. Elon thinks that if the Center for Countering Digital Hate stops publicizing the massive hate speech problem at Twitter then advertisers will flood back to the platform.
Elon, did anybody ever tell you that you're a dumb shit? 🫵🏼
Twitter/X is not going to get any better – just the opposite. Elon Musk is determined to turn it into a safe space for far right hatemongers.
If you are still on Twitter then you will increasingly be associated with Nazis, conspiracy loonies, and other lowlife dregs of social media who are welcomed there. No matter how much you may try to avoid the mess there you will inevitably step in their shit.
Fight hate speech on Elon Musk's Twitter and on other platforms. Support the Center for Countering Digital Hate

1) Do you travel?
I don't travel much. I'm not a huge fan of it. I like going somewhere for a bit but I'm always ready to be back home in a couple days. I like my bed and my home.
3) Height?
Five foot five inches.
4) Are you a cuddler?
I am. Well, I guess I should say that I like to be cuddled at night when I'm sleeping, but I'm not much of a cuddler during waking hours. I need my space.
5) Middle name?
Beth.
6) If you could live anywhere in the world where would it be and why?
I'm content right here where I'm at. But I would like our house to be further back from the road and to have a fenced yard so my animals don't get hurt and don't have to worry about my great nephew and niece getting away from us and into the road either. Not that it has ever happened, but I do have a fear of that.
8) Fandoms?
The Walking Dead, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Jurassic Park/World.
9) Favorite color?
Any and all shades of purple.
10) OTP?
The Walking Dead - Carol & Daryl, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit - Olivia Benson & Rafael Barba, Jurassic Park - Ellie Sattler & Alan Grant, Jurassic World - Claire Dearing & Owen Grady.

They would be wide and black tipped with silver with flecks of purple mixed in. They'd be soft and dainty and strong.
24) How do you feel about Donald Trump?
We don't have all day, but to put it shortly, I do not like that man at all. I think people who worship him need their eyes opened and are in a cult. But there's a lot I could say about the man. I will refrain from it here because this is my roleplay blog.
25) Last thing you ate?

The Silent Struggles of Asian American Women
By: Emily Diamante
Intro
Intersectionality is when two social identities intersect, making unique situations for an individual. Women in America are faced with various difficulties ranging from the wage gap to sexual harassment. Asians in America experience discrimination, stereotyping, etc. Asian American women in this country experience all of these dangers simultaneously. My name is Emily Diamante and this blog post will briefly cover examples in history where Asian women were stereotyped and discriminated against for being both a woman and Asian.
Tumblr media
Starting from the Beginning
In 1875, the Page Act was passed. This act restricted Asian women from immigrating to the U.S for prositutional purposes. This was one of the first instances of heavy stereotyping on Asian women. With the passing of this act, this wrongly profiles Asian women as prostitutes, dehumanizing them to an object. In addition, this act prevented Asian couples from starting families. It is important to note that the fourteenth amendment states, “all persons born or naturalized in the United States”. So due to the Page Act, the exclusion of Asian women in the country prevented these couples from starting a family. This stereotype was further portrayed when it came to the idea of a “military man”. The identity of a military man was just this macho, super masculine guy. So masculine that being called anything related to feminists was considered an insult. The stereotypical Asian woman at that time is the perfect opposite of a military man. Asian women are seen as submissive, seductive, only capable of serving men.
Covid
With the COVID-19 pandemic, harmful acts of hate towards the Asian community has increased by 339% in some of the largest cities in the U.S. It is clear it is because of people’s fear, scapegoating, and misinformation that caused Asian hate to grow so much in such a short amount of time. It is also no coincidence that when President Donald Trump used phrases such as “Kung- Flu” or “China Virus” that the blame on Asian Americans got even worse. The AAPI have documented about 4,000 instances of hate with Asian women being targeted 2.3 times more than men. Asian American women have stated that they have experienced some of these situations: being called racial slurs, comments about racial stereotypes, being followed via car, accused of being dirty, and being accused of having the “China Virus”. Because of these experiences, it is no doubt that Asian Americans have felt hopeless and frustrated during this pandemic. They are disappointed with the American government for how they are being treated. Asian women fear their treatment so much to go as far as to shop in only Asian stores.
Tumblr media
Atlanta Shooting
March 16, 2021. Robert Aaron Long attacks a massage parlor and two spas in Atlanta, Georgia. He shoots and kills eight people. All eight victims were Asian women. This tragic, targeted attack was a symbol that highlighted the intersection of racism and sexism. This act of violence represented the ongoing struggles of the objectification, fetishization, and dehumanizing experience of Asian women in America. This attack sheds light on urgent issues that need to be addressed.

Watching what’s going on at Twitter is like watching a guy losing his mind in slow motion. The guy in question is Elon Musk, who once upon a time was the world’s richest man and now isn’t. (That slot is apparently occupied by Bernard Arnault, the luxury goods mogul.)
Musk is in a hole but apparently doesn’t know Denis Healey’s First Law of Holes: when you’re in one, stop digging. The funny thing is that he dug the hole himself. First, he paid way over the odds for Twitter. Then, when Tesla shares (the main source of his wealth) tanked, and Twitter’s share price dropped, he tried to get out of the deal. That failed, so he was forced to borrow a lot of money – incurring interest payments of around a billion dollars a year – thereby becoming the reluctant owner of a loss-making company. And he hasn’t the faintest idea of how to make it work.
So he’s thrashing around, doing one contradictory thing after another. He started by firing half of the staff, including quite a few key people who knew how hard it is to run a social media platform. He demanded that highly skilled software engineers print out their code on paper so that he could give it the once-over. He rescinded the bans that the company had imposed on legions of rightwing nutters and then discovered that many advertisers, who are the company’s main source of revenue, pulled out, anxious lest their corporate brands get tainted by proximity to lunacy, hate speech and white supremacist cant. He even rescinded the ban on Donald Trump, only to find that Trump was no longer interested in being on the platform.
He took to sleeping on a sofa in Twitter’s San Francisco HQ, babbling about a “code red” crisis, the need to “clear the decks of any prior wrongdoing and move forward with a clean slate” and describing the company as a “crime scene”. To find some evidence for this, he commissioned two journalists to go through stacks of internal records of moderation decisions made long before he owned the company. Reports suggest that the documents merely show staff panicking about the radicalisation of the US right before and after the election and trying to react to events such as the storming of the Capitol building in Washington on 6 January 2021 – in other words, no smoking gun.
And all the while, Musk has continued his maniacal tweeting. He tweeted a white rabbit, for example, which the QAnon crowd interpreted as a sign of support. He misread a blog post by the former head of trust and safety at Twitter and insinuated he was a paedophile, prompting others to label the man a “groomer”. (This chimed with his 2018 accusation that one of the team that rescued a group of children from a cave in Thailand was a “pedo guy”.) The other day, he tweeted that “My pronouns are Prosecute/Fauci” – a multipurpose and daft insult revealing, among other things, that Musk doesn’t actually know how this “pronouns” business works.
One could go on, but you get the point. The guy is flailing around and Twitter has become “The Musk Experience”, as the blogger Helen Lewis puts it. Meanwhile, the world’s media watch in morbid fascination. How can the world’s second richest man – the guy who transformed the automobile industry and built rockets that can deliver payloads into orbit and return to land accurately and safely on ocean-going rafts – be making such a mess of reforming a mere social media platform. After all, that doesn’t require rocket science, right?
For the answer, we need look no further than Robert Louis Stevenson’s The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde. Elon Musk is our contemporary gothic horror story. On the one hand, we have Dr Elon, a restless genius who transformed PayPal and used the proceeds to build two world-changing companies. Nobody who has seen him at work in these outfits doubts that he is fully on top of the technology and the business. Watch him on a tour of a SpaceX installation, for example, talking to the engineers who are building the kit and you see a CEO who really knows what he – and they – are doing. Likewise, ask him what’s special about the electric motors in the Tesla Model 3 or the Model S Plaid and you’re in for an interesting hour’s tutorial. In that sense, Dr Elon is the spiritual heir of Henry Ford, the genius who invented a new way of manufacturing complicated products at scale and, in doing so, changed the world.
And then, on the other hand, we have Mr Musk, a narcissistic man-child with a pathetic craving for attention, the attention span of a newt and a maximalist interpretation of what is meant by “free speech”. This creature now controls a platform that plays a small but significant role in the global public sphere. Run properly and with a viable business model, Twitter could continue to play a useful role in our lives. But for that to happen, Dr Elon would have to be in charge. And at the moment he’s missing in action.

A Texas blogger paid by Democratic Rep. Vicente Gonzalez's campaign is attacking Republican opponent Rep. Mayra Flores as “Miss Frijoles” and a "cotton-pickin' liar," prompting a wave of denunciations by fellow Democrats.
The language first surfaced three days after Gonzalez’s campaign wrote a $1,200 check to The McHale Report blog June 24 for “advertising services,” according to the Democrat’s Federal Election Commission finance report.
But the blog, which has called Flores "Miss Frijoles" 21 times since then, has not published any Gonzalez ads.
Flores, in a Twitter post Monday, accused the Gonzalez campaign of paying “a local blogger to run hateful & racist ads against me,” a charge that the Gonzalez campaign and blogger Jerry McHale deny. They both told NBC News that the timing of the attacks were coincidental, that the congressman didn’t pay for any of the inflammatory posts, know about them or have any control over them.
“Of course, the congressman is against referring to Rep. Flores as ‘Miss Frijoles’ or a ‘cotton-picking liar’,” Gonzalez’s campaign manager, Collin Steele, wrote in a text message to NBC News, echoing the state Democratic Party chair and other Texas Democrats who denounced the language as well.
But McHale would not back down.
“I am a liberal Democrat. And it’s war against the Republican ... I’m going to be merciless with her,” he told NBC News.
The controversy, which illustrates the blurred lines between paying political bloggers for advertising and advocacy, is the latest flashpoint in the wild and rugged politics of Texas 34th Congressional District, a majority-Hispanic seat that runs along the state’s southeast border with Mexico and has become a national proving ground for GOP outreach to Hispanic voters.
Flores is the first congresswoman born in Mexico. Two years before her victory, then-President Donald Trump improved his margins there — along with most majority-Hispanic districts and counties nationwide — when compared to his 2016 numbers.
But Democrats note that Trump still lost within the boundaries of the 34th Congressional District, and they say Flores only won because the party didn’t spend much to contest her special election after then-Rep. Filemon Vela, a Democrat, unexpectedly left the seat to join a law firm that lobbies in Washington. Gonzalez decided to challenge Flores once the seat he currently holds, the 15th Congressional District, became more Republican-leaning after it was redrawn by the GOP-led Legislature during redistricting.
A week after Flores won, Gonzalez told Newsweek, “I wasn’t born in Mexico …  I didn’t come here through chain migration, I didn’t come through asylum or amnesty or whatever.” In his remarks, often associated with Republicans, Gonzalez also described Flores as “unqualified,” a criticism often considered sexist.
“Politics in South Texas and the Rio Grande Valley is blood sport. It’s very personal. And they play to win,” said Colin Strother, a veteran Texas Democratic consultant.
Still, he said, the language in McHale’s blog and Gonzalez’s decision to advertise with him were surprising — Gonzalez last year paid McHale $1,000 for advertising, and the blog is full of posts with racist, crude and bigoted language, like the use of the N-word and derogatory references to women's private parts, including Flores’ body.
“The attitude doesn’t surprise me. The mindset doesn’t surprise me. A Democratic member spending money with someone using that kind of language? Yeah, that surprises me,” Strother said. “It’s a little outside the bounds. There are other places to spend your money.” _______________________

Translation: I can be as racist as I want because I'm the good guy
