abi’s hundred two hundred and fifty follower celebration: choose your three favorite charmed ships | paige matthews & henry mitchell
they are so underappreciated. it’s bets and movie nights and realizing that you know her absolutely ridiculous popcorn order. it’s the banter and playfulness as you realize that love doesn’t have to uproot your world, it’s about growing roots. it’s about understanding what it’s like to be on your own in a cold world, without anyone by your corner. healing and learning to be vulnerable and to love and building a family between yourselves.
#charmed#paige x henry#paige matthews#henry mitchell#ogwork#abis100fc#aesthetics#ahhh i literally said that i wasnt going to do these super in depth ones after the first one i did (which is the last to post)#this one was super hard for me bc i wasnt really sure what to do for henry#and then everything i tried to include on their couple side just didnt want to work#i was originally trying to go for blue for paige brown for henry and yellow for them together but#i couldnt quite make it fit well enough#i also did in fact have to edit their wedding photo#it took forever and then i realized that i still couldnt quite accomplish it so i just completely changed gears on editing that one#so if it looks weird ♥ mind your fucking business#bc do you know how hard it is to find a shot of them kissing that isnt from just one of their perspectives?#bc you cant tell in the wedding picture (bc of said editing) but she's a lot shorter than him#beyond putting them together i had to put paige higher so the eye contact didnt look weird af#this was supposed to be simple and instead i've spent like. four? hours on it? which might be progress idk man#but anyways i love them so much#bc they get each other in ways that otehrs dont#like paige's sisters cant understand what it was like for her after her parents died but henry can#and she can understand him#and its the romantic speeches and knowing the other person#and their love is FUN and playful while still being rooted in them learning to trust and love and be vulnerable#the phrase healing your inner child keeps popping up in my brain but idk about that one#also shoutout to me for finishing then and then requesting that one of my favorite bloggers do an aesthetic for them like#i did in fact shoot myself in the foot on that one but uhhh idc actually bc i love them anyways so two cake principle? two cake principle.

Hello lovely!! I saw requests were open but if i'm mistaken just ignore me lol, but if they are, i was wondering if i could request hcs for poly!lost boys with a free spirited s/o who is always traveling and exploring (think like young donna from mamma mia yk?) thank you again lovely <333
Thank you for the request! It's a fun one, and like, I definitely knew who donna was? (Is it alright to admit I've never seen Mamma Mia? Or is that like not done?) Anyway, thanks for the fun ask, and I hope you like this!😘
-----------------------
When I say you've travelled a lot, I mean a lot. You spent summer holidays backpacking through Europe and Asia, hitting several countries and enjoying the adventure tremendously.
Holidays do come to an end, however, so once you're back in the States, you decide to explore more of the state you live in. You didn't really have a plan, and the bustrip that was supposed to take you to San Francisco ended up with you being stranded in Santa Carla.
I am convinced that you met Paul first, probably while jamming with some musicians on the boardwalk. You danced and sang along, twirling around until you suddenly slammed into someone.
"Oh my god, I am so sorry!" You'd laugh, "Are you alright?" Paul would just grin, dragging you along in another dance. "Sure am, babe," he'd say, "but it would be even better if I get your name."
So that's how you get to know Paul, as a carefree, fun-loving guy - and you absolutely adore him. Through him, you meet the others.
"Oh my god, are these bikes yours?" Is probably along the first things you say to them. When they ask if you ride, you happily shake your head. "Nope, but I am certain I can!" Needless to say, they make sure to leave their keys in sight.
Later on, they do teach you how to drive, but none are quite comfy with you going off on your own since driving safety is not the first thing on your mind.
They run into you at the weirdest places. One time, they found you stuck in a tree. Another time, they found you lounging on the roof of a motel - the ladder you'd used to get on the roof had fallen, and you'd decided that sunbathing and stargazing was a very nice way to spend the day instead of doing groceries and such.
Marko absolutely adores the way you handle things, how you just enjoy life and can laugh about practically anything.
I am convinced you and Dwayne will bond over telling stories of adventures. You have a lot, and so does he and in the end the two of you could talk for hours.
You and David had to get used to each other for a bit, with him being way more controlled than you - and you being way more open and free in the way you acted. But once you connected over a story, or when you stumbled and fell into his arms - followed by some corny oneliner - the two of you get really close.
You fit in perfectly, within the groups dynamic. You're not quite as chaotic as Paul and Marko can be and definitely not as mysterious as the other two - so it definitely works out well.
David takes you to hidden gems around town and genuinely loves to accompany you when you're out exploring.
You find out they're vampires due to one of the long chats with Dwayne, and you hate to admit it, but you're really disappointed that they don't turn into bats.
The next morning you find a tiny bat charm laying on your pillow.
Once you know what they are, you definitely want to experience parts of their world. Not the feeding, perhaps, but the flying? Yes, absolutely.
Marko takes you out flying the first time and you have never felt more alive.
Overtime you begin to feel a little conflicted: you really like all of them, in a rather romantic way and eventhough it is rather simple in your head (just date all of them) you're just not sure if they'd be okay with that?
But when you awkwardly bring it up one night, the boys just grin. Everyone's in, and suddenly you've gained four boyfriends.
Dynamic wise, nothing changes, except you get the occasional ask if you want to turn into a vampire as well.
If you do, I am certain you spent the first couple of months exploring the town all over again with the boys, and then begging them to come along when you went out to explore the rest of the world because a) you had the time now and b) travelling and exploring while you're a vampire is so much more fun
David and Dwayne are always on alert when they hear you (or Paul or Marko) gleefully yell something along the lines of "Let's do it!" "Who cares!" Or "Fuck it!" Because it often means one of you will get stuck somewhere. Like a tree. Or a roof. Or under the boardwalk. Or in a fight with sharks. You get the drift ;)
Before I forget, you absolutely adore Marko's pigeons, and on world animal day you definitely give them little pigeontreats.

Self care writing: Day 9 :)
Nov. 27 - 2023, Monday 4:50 pm
Goooooood late afternoon! I think it's a perfect time to start my writing for today. I feel like I've accomplished quite a bit today, so yay!
Morning:
I started out my day with some reading in bed. After getting up and getting dressed, I did some journaling and just reflecting until I had to leave for an appointment. (which went smoothly, yay!)
Afternoon:
After my appointment, I stayed in town and grabbed an iced White Chocolate and Toasted Marshmallow latte from a local coffee shop. ;) Then, I went to the store to get lunch and scope out some books I wanted. (sadly, I didn't get any today) After the store, I headed to the library and spent a good amount of time there! I got three graphic novels: Pumpkin Heads by Rainbow Rowell, Cafe Kichijouji by Yuki Miyamoto and illustrated by Kyoko Negishi, and Unfamiliar by Haley Newsome. Sure, I'm already reading like four other books, but it's fine. Graphic novels are a good break in between them. :) Plus, I've been wanting to try Manga, so I thought I might like Cafe Kichijoui, the overview of it sounded cute.
Later in the day, not quite evening but evening:
Since I came home from the library, I did some house chores, finished writing a card and putting together the secret santa gift I'm doing with my siblings, was going through other Christmas gifts I need to get for people, and now this. :)
So, I've felt that it has been a productive day, and a pretty good one too. Tonight at 7 I have community choir practice but other than that, I can chill. I might do some reading or more journaling, we'll see. ;)
Tumblr media
Here's a random photo of Lucy Gray from The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes. :) (greatest movie) Speaking of The Hunger Games, I just finished re-watching those works of art last night and was close to restarting them all over again. But instead I started re-watching Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves. Which is also a very good and funny movie.
~
Flash forward a few hours, it is 10:27 pm currently. I recently got back from choir practice tonight where a close friend and I talked for a while afterwards. Practice was alright, I think I'm ready for the concert to come and be over, though. But it has been fun to do it with close friends and have my old choir director again. :)
Earlier tonight, I finally got some NaNoWriMo writing done! I hadn't worked on my novel for quite some time because I think I just needed a break from it and I was more focused on this kind of writing or journaling. But I got some done and I'm proud of it!
Tumblr media
(I need to find a fresh one of these but this'll do for tonight!)
3 things I'm grateful for ~ 1) People who choose to be kind to strangers. 2) The ability to change my perspective on certain things. 3) For today, it was a good day.
Something incredible ~ When I went to the store and was looking in the books section, there were two other people in the same aisle that I didn't know. One of them asked, "Have either of you read Colleen Hoover?" The other person said yes and I said no. (I should try at least one of her books) And even though I wasn't really a part of the conversation from that point on, it was lovely to see two complete strangers just talking about books. There was this energy that felt like we were all there because we really loved books. And I just love that. :)
Something I learned ~ Even if I don't think of it at first, really, anything can be made into a goal. And it doesn't matter how big or small it is, if it's important to you, if it helps your mental health, and help you achieve what you want in your life, it's an important goal.
My feelings about my goals ~ I guess I don't necessarily have goals right now. Or at least, more simple goals. I have goals that'll take a longer amount of my life to achieve but the smaller ones that relate more to now...I suppose I could include my reading. ;) I am feeling..many things with that goal. I still have a long ways to go with Iron Flame and the book club book I have, we meet tomorrow and I am not even halfway. Which will be fine, I'll just get spoilers. I am proud of myself for consistently reading A Merry Little Meet Cute, though. It's a perfect read for me right now; I'm very much in the Christmassy romcom mood. :) I could also include my writing as a goal! I am feeling good about that one. I got novel writing done today--whoop whoop!!--I've been journaling pretty consistently, and I've been keeping up with my self care writing!
How do I want to wake up/show up tomorrow ~ I want to be ready for the day, for work, just in a good mood during the day and keep the momentum after work. :) And be excited for my first book club meeting, and attentive because I may be running one of my own at some point. ;)
I asked my sister on face time what a good ending was and she said:
~ *The End* ~
So, until next time, ;)
Thalia <3

LOVEFOOL
Author’s note: HELLO! This is my part for the Valentine’s Day challenge that @1dffchallenges put together. Make sure to keep an eye out for any other pieces published by other authors. Enjoy! And happy Valentine’s weekend! (:
Summary: Harry agrees to go on a blind date set up by his friends in hopes that it will help him move on from an unrequited love.
Word count: 3K
Challenge prompt and dialogue: blind date set up by friends. “I don’t want this to end...”
Tumblr media
There’s a first for everything. Harry’s had his fair share of them at the age of twenty-seven. First time on an aeroplane at the tender age of six for a family holiday in Rome. First kiss on his home town’s park with someone he deeply cared about. First time in a recording studio. First time going on tour. The first night spent alone in his new and barely furnished home. The first morning he laid eyes on the girl next door. The ugly heartbreak after she got married, certainly felt worse than his first one.
Life is full of firsts, Harry knows that, and he wishes to have been the first to sneak his way into Jane’s heart, all those years ago.
"You love her" it almost sounds like an accusation coming from Jeff, though the last thing he wants is to make Harry feel guilty. The musician doesn't reply, he shrugs, eyes never leaving her no matter how deep into the ocean she seems to be. "Does she know?" Harry shakes his head in denial. "Did you bring her along just so you could tell her?"
"I enjoy writing music with her, that's why she's here," his tone leaves no room for more questions, the manager knows and sighs defeated. Harry stands from his spot on the beach and heads back inside the house, alone.
Is he being that obvious?
He reviews the past few days and wonders where he slipped, nothing rings any bell. Harry completely and conveniently forgets how he doesn't nag her for having a smoke after dinner, instead he just opens the window and stands close to it, or how he's been making her a cuppa everyday at noon. But it was the time when Jane asked him to help her French plait her hair when something clicked in Jeff's brain, the way Harry beamed at such a simple request left no room for questioning. Yet he asked him, because there was that tiny chance of it all being part of the manager's imagination, but when he looked back on it, the little things now made more sense to him and in a way he always knew.
They've been in Port Antonio for two weeks now and everything was going just dandy, Harry was writing more than ever, the first week he had a new song every day, he even polished the old ones and had a tune for his favourites, thanks to Mitch's help. When Jeff Azoff got there earlier this week, he spent a good two hours talking to Jeff Bhasker about how much of a good idea the trip was.
"Harry is on a writing spree." He complimented Azoff's client, it was nothing but the truth. However the reason for it all, was now heading back to the house to join the others after a good surfing session.
Jane went straight to take a shower, ready to rinse all the ocean's saltiness from her body, thinking how wonderful it would've been if her own worries could be washed away with her tangerine shampoo. In contrast to Harry's good spirits and excellent mood, her own cloud of trouble seemed to follow her all the way from London. She still hadn't heard from her husband, so it is safe to say he was still upset about her going away to work in Harry's album. It was impossible for her to forget the argument they had, at first thinking it was a joke on his side, insinuating that they were ‘shagging behind his back’.
After her shower, wearing comfortable clothes, Jane joins the others for supper but keeps to herself, still with the dichotomy about calling Alex or letting him be. He will eventually come to his senses and apologise.
What if he doesn't?
The thought alone of her clothes being packed in boxes by the time she gets back home almost makes her cry, perhaps she can call or text him just to test the waters. It is ridiculous how she seems to be more mature about this than him.
"Penny for them?" Harry's voice brings her back to the now empty dining room, the voices from the rest of their party can be heard from the living room.
"God I'm sorry H, lost myself out there for a moment," she is embarrassed, with him, the others and herself for letting this situation get under her skin. And she's also avoiding talking about it, with Harry or anyone. "I was just thinking about the tempo for Sweet Creature."
"Liar," he hates to be shut down by her more than anything. "Is it because I didn't let you eat the last peanut drop the other day?" It would've been easier for her to say it was, than to address the actual reason. But Harry hasn't lied to her, ever.
"No love, although I was a bit hurt because of that, it's actually this thing with Alex we are, I don't know, he was upset with me and said some things," Jane couldn't finish, her speech was cut short by a quiet sob and Harry was quick to pull her from the chair onto his lap and hold her tight. His own heart speeding at the sight of her distressed.
"When was the last time you spoke to him?"
"Two weeks ago." Her voice barely whispers on his chest, "he's being a wanker to be honest, just because he's not going on tour with any of his bands I'm supposed to be a stay at home wife!"
"Why don't you explain this to me, from the beginning, please?" He asks rubbing her back soothingly, and she spills it all, the having kids now or never argument, to her wanting to have a proper wedding party and finally the latest fight where Alex suggested an affair going on between her and Harry, the latter had to do his best not to put the option on the table, since her husband so kindly suggested it. Might as well, he thought. "It all sounds like a big misunderstanding, I know you're a great communicator sunshine, so it baffles me that you've let this go on for so long." He's got a point.
"You're right, but I feel like it's his turn, you know?" Jane's done weeping, but remained on her friend's lap and arms, head resting on his shoulder. "He's always forward, mature, a proper thirty year old except when it comes to arguments where we ought to reach an agreement," she plays a bit with the cross hanging from his neck, a scowl on her pretty face. "Like with the children thing, we only stopped arguing when I said that maybe in two more years we could have one instead of, you know, my early thirties." It's good that she can't see how upset Harry is.
"You gave into that one, he should do the same but it's his choice," Harry sighs and can't believe what he's about to say. "Take the day off tomorrow, call him or FaceTime, Skype whatever you choose, but have a proper conversation with him." She wants to argue and say it's not necessary to be absent the whole day, she can spare a few hours. But she will need time to think about what to say, make her point clear so they are on good terms until she goes back to London.
"Fine, but if he is still acting like a dickhead afterwards, I'm not going to let it into my head anymore, we will continue to bask in this great work environment going on here." Jane states, pulling away from his embrace just enough to give him that stern look she uses when trying to make a point, and Harry nods with a warm smile, the one she never gets tired of seeing. "I'll call it a night now, gonna be asleep in seconds now that I've got that out of my chest." She stands from his lap, missing his warmth instantly. "Thanks for that."
"Anytime honey pie." Harry says before leaving a kiss on her left hand that burns her skin from then till morning.
Jeff joins the musician in the dining room right after the girl walks away to her room, he takes a seat across from him and scrutinises the look of adoration his friend still sports once she is out of the room.
"She'll never know, if you never tell her." Jeff is right, but the thought alone of going through that again scares him to death. Or so he says, because there's a part of him that is fond of the thrill it makes him feel.
"It's not like I haven't tried, just last year I told her," Harry remembers that night vividly, how pretty she looked even with her makeup all smudged under her eyes. "I'm not sure if she heard, it was too loud like where we were at the time." He was also pissed out of his mind.
"H, there's nothing wrong with being in love."
"I'm not saying it is, but even if she did love me I– I would find a way to hurt her. Anyway. she's happily married now, it's too late." Saying it out loud doesn't hurt him any less like he thought it would. Harry sighs in defeat before rising from the chair, "she's everything to me, I wouldn't mess with her head by confessing my feelings, deep down I always knew she deserved better and now she has it and that's good enough for me." The musician disappears through the corridor where his everlasting love did just a few minutes ago, he paused for a moment outside her room, pondering whether to barge in and just follow his instincts, kiss her like he should've done after winning that award back in 2014.
Harry shakes his head and goes straight to his room, he reminds himself that it was time to let her go. It's for the best. He is not good enough for her, he can't even write a song for her, about her. He mustn't love her that much then.
What Harry doesn't know is that he can't write a song about her because he loves her too much, the poor lad can't even figure out where to start. But he's about to get rid of that curse in a day or two, he just needs to be patient.
The reward for it came, all of a sudden Harry wrote too many songs about her until she inevitably became aware of the situation they were in. Harry vowed to stay away from Jane’s life after recording the album. He dated people that didn’t remind him of her, and even moved temporarily to Japan. But despite all his efforts, four years later Harry still finds himself thinking about her, everything seems to be tainted by her. The music he adores, the new dinner recipes he cooks, the books he chooses to read.
Completely out of options he agreed to this blind date his friends set up for him.
He arrives at the modest restaurant they so kindly chose for the occasion. “All you have to do is wear something nice and show up.” Alexa reminded him over the phone last week.
This is a new first for him, it is also exciting, to take a seat at a table for two conveniently placed at the back, pretend to pay attention to the menu but let his green eyes avert to whoever approaches. Harry is having a great time, he knows that soon his date will arrive. He wonders what they’ll be like.
According to Alexa and Pixie, the person arriving is the perfect match for their young friend. Harry can only hope they like Vietnamese cuisine because that’s apparently this place’s special offer this week. If he’s lucky enough the date will agree to share a starter and perhaps two main courses, that way he doesn’t have to choose between one or the other.
“Here’s your table.” Harry hears the waiter speak and his gaze meets a very familiar figure standing beside him. It can’t be.
“Excuse me, there must be a mistake, I’m waiting for someone else.” Harry protests.
The waiter shakes his head and shows him the notepad with some specifications written down. “Nothing wrong, got specific instructions from Miss Chung, a lady will come in to say is here for Geldolf’s blind date, you are sitting at the table they reserved. I’ll be back in a few minutes to take your order.” He is quick to explain and disappear.
Jane sits because there is no way she can stand any longer, her legs are about to give out from the commotion. This was not the blind date she was expecting either. It’s been at least four years since she last saw Harry. The night after he finally admitted being in love with her, waiting for a reaction, anything from her, after what seemed like hours but was only ten minutes later, he walked out of her house and entire life, leaving her confused and upset.
“How’ve you been?” she asked after confirming that Harry wasn’t going to up and leave.
“Pretty fantastic, until you arrived.” He’s never spoken to her like that before, with so much affliction in his tone. “What are you doing here?”
“I was set up on a blind date by Pixie—
He interrupts her. “That’s fucking convenient, did you all went to this much trouble, just to mock me? I thought they were my friends, you know, that even after everything, they cared about me.” Harry stops, his voice breaks, he’s so angry, hurt and confused by the situation. “Did your husband come along, to witness my humiliation too?” He looks around, trying to find the man of Jane’s dreams.
“I wouldn’t know if he’s here, haven’t seen him since we got divorced three years ago.” She snaps before hiding behind the menu from a gobsmacked Harry.
The words he’d been waiting to hear were finally out of her mouth. Unlike the million times he dreamt about this happening, Harry is not sweeping her off her feet and running away into the sunset holding her hand. Instead he reaches out to touch her arm, testing the waters. He waits for her to lower the menu and surprisingly there are no tears in her eyes. Perhaps only a bit of sorrow that is quickly replaced with confusion, at how fast her heart raced after Harry’s touch.
“Do you want to talk about it?” His voice is back to oozing the tenderness he reserves just for her. Jane nods.
“But can we share a rice bowl and Pho noodle soup?”
“Yes, and dessert too!” Even after four years Harry’s sweet tooth hasn’t changed, Jane sighs before the waiter is back to take their order.
Keeping a conversation between the two of them is not hard at all, even if it is an awkward topic —her not so recent divorce. “We didn’t have anything in common anymore, there were so many fights every single day. When I finally suggested the separation, he seemed relieved and I felt like a complete fool.” Jane remembers the sigh of comfort that came out of the man she once loved with all her heart before that rainy afternoon, when she finally decided that she’d had enough. “He left that night, hadn’t seen him since, his lawyer took care of everything,” a sour laugh escapes her lips, Harry’s eyes are full of sympathy for her. “I’m sorry for ruining your blind date, I know you’ve never been to one before.” Of course she did, she knows him better than anyone.
“This has to be the greatest date I’ve ever been to.” He speaks without a second thought.
All those years Harry spent away from Jane were not going to be in vain. He was not going to neglect the feelings he still had for her. That affection he felt for her, only her. Harry shifts in his seat, this is not at all how he planned it, in a restaurant full of people on fucking Valentine’s day. It almost seemed like a tacky move.
But after all this time of pining for her, hating her and himself at times. Harry was brave enough, it was now or never, he didn’t want to wait any longer, not after his friends schemed and executed this soppy plan to bring the two soulmates together. Before she could take the final bite of dessert that Harry kindly left for her. The world stopped.
“I don’t want this to end...” Harry says with a dimpled smile she can’t look away from. “I’d like to take you out on a second date, a third, fourth, fifth. Believe me when I tell you, I have planned up to a thousand of them.” He takes her hand in his and can feel her pulse race along his own. The smile splits his face again, because he knows, he feels, he sees it in her beautiful eyes. “Janey, you’re the first person I’ve ever wanted to hold on to. I know there is a name for this emotion, I’ve written songs about it, but now I don’t think it’s a word big enough for us.”
She squeezes his hand and breaths out a laugh, tears of joy brimming out of her eyes. “Let’s call it love, until we come up with a better name for it.” Harry agrees and just then, Jane brings up his hand to her lips.
His skin tingles where she kisses him for the first time and he beams at her.
There’s a first for everything, and although it feels like it for Jane and Harry, this isn’t by any means the first time they confess their love for each other. It was always there, in every laugh they shared, every song they wrote together, every touch. It was on Harry’s unwavering devotion, on his impatience and selfless actions throughout the years.
They were bound to be together, their story didn’t begin on that initial blind date, it did years ago after he caught a glimpse of her shiny black hair on the morning she moved into the house across the street.
Harry drives her back to her new flat on the other side of the city, enjoying every minute of the long ride, happy to hear her ramble about her newest obsession with romantic novels and burst out laughing after Jane confesses that sometimes she doesn’t finish reading books she likes, just to pretend the story keeps going. With a quick kiss to the back of her hand he completely agrees.
No tale is more compelling than one that never ends.

“I Love You”
Summary: love wasn't supposed to be a part of you and Sweet Pea
Warnings: like two swear words
Word count: 1,492
A/N: this is based of I Love You by Billie Eilish. I wrote this in literally an hour so don't blame me if it's bad
Tumblr media
The concept of loving someone had always scared you both. That's why neither of you had been in a real relationship. That's also why you and Sweet Pea had become friends. You knew nothing would happen because catching feelings just wasn't something you did. It wasn't that either of you were cold, or you didn't love your friends, but loving somebody with other feelings involved and being in a relationship didn't work for either of you. So the entirely platonic relationship between the two of you was the safest bet. You'd known Sweet Pea since seventh grade and you'd been best friends ever since, nothing more ever even being a thought.
It's not true
Tell me I've been lied to
Crying isn't like you
What the hell did I do?
Never been the type to
Let someone see right through
There was a four day weekend due to teacher work days, so you and Sweet Pea took the opportunity to pack up a truck with blankets and pillows and food and head to one of the camp sights on the edge of Sweet Water River for a camping trip. You'd gotten there at sunset and set up everything at your sight including string lights you'd insisted on bringing, of course making Sweet Pea hang them up because he could reach the highest branches. The next day was spent with the two of you swimming and laughing, making food and just relaxing in your time off from school with each other.
The day went by fast, and it was now the second night at camp, both of you lying on a blanket next to a tree by the river. A pillow sat under your head as you stared at the sky freckled with twinkling stars up above and you talked quietly to Sweet Pea as if not to destroy the peacefulness of the night. After about a half hour of small words though you'd noticed your conversation was almost entirely one-sided. Confused, you propped yourself up on your elbow and are shocked into silence at what you see. He doesn't meet your eye, keeping his gaze set on the stars as you stare into his eyes. They practically mirrored the sky, dark and twinkling but instead of with beautiful stars there were sad tears pooling in them. A few had slipped down his cheeks leaving behind streams that glimmered in the warm light from the string lights set up a few feet away. He was bitting his lip probably to muffle a cry that was trying to escape with the tears.
"Pea?" You finally say, lying your hand on his arm. His eyes squeeze shut at your touch, another tear rolling down his cheeks and onto the fabric of the blanket. You were worried. Scared, even. No one had ever seen the Sweet Pea cry, not even you or Fangs or Toni. He didn't let people see what was happening behind the scenes in his head because he put on the act of being big and tough. There was a heavy door for say blocking anyone from getting a glimpse, but here he was, all of his emotions clear as day for you to see. Why was he crying all of a sudden? Did you do something? Say something?
Maybe won't you take it back
Say you were tryna make me laugh
And nothing has to change today
You didn't mean to say "I love you"
I love you and I don't want to
"What's wrong?" You ask as he opens his eyes. He doesn't reply right away, staying painfully silent for another minute though it feels like an eternity before he finally answers.
"I love you." He says, voice hoarse from crying. "I love you and I don't want to."
It's as if everything around you freezes and goes silent. It feels like a hand had gripped your heart and squeezed forcing you to go still. Love. That word scared the shit out of both of you, so why did he say it? That was the promise with your friendship, that neither of you would catch feelings because that wasn't what you did. Maybe in a few seconds he would start laughing and say it was a joke, take back the word that couldn't be possible. Nothing between you has to change, you just stay close friends and the L word never happened. But a minute passed, then two, and then five and he didn't say anything. He didn't take it back, he just stared at the stars that watched the turning point in your relationship with silent watchful gazes.
"No you don't." You said in a whisper mostly to yourself rather than him. "You can't."
"That's what I thought." He says with a small, sad smile.
You stare at him in more stunned silence. He loved you. Love. He had to have been lying. Love was scary and messy and it wasn't what you two had. It couldn't be.
Up all night on another red eye
I wish we never learned to fly
Maybe we should just try
To tell ourselves a good lie
I didn't mean to make you cry
"I thought about it awhile. I wondered why I felt butterflies every time I saw you or every time you laughed or smiled at me. And then it just popped into my head. When I realized what it was I cried for the first time in years. I wished we'd never gotten close enough for it to happen." Sweet Pea says, glancing at you every now and then, but he wasn't able to watch your reaction. He didn't want to see you trying to break away from him. Like he knew you probably were, fleeing from his confessions.
"Maybe... Maybe we can just pretend you don't." You say, small hope in your voice. "Nothing has to change, we just have to lie to ourselves. I don't want you to cry over me."
The smile that you gave me
Even when you felt like dying
Sweet Pea smiles. He smiles even though everything around you, the warm comfortable friendship you'd built with trust and care and kindness and memories came crashing down. He sits up like you and stares at his lap for a moment leaving you to think about that smile. He smiled at you even though you were crushing him. He probably felt like dying for loving his best friend in a way best friends shouldn't, but he still gave you a smile to try to make you feel better. The simple smile confirmed his words much to your worst fears that he was in love with you. What did you do? How did you make this happen? Could you go back and change something and make it so this didn't happen?
We fall apart as it gets dark
I'm in your arms in Central Park
There's nothing you could do or say
I can't escape the way, I love you
I don't want to, but I love you
You pull Sweet Pea into a hug, his arms immediately wrapping around you as he buries his face in the crook of your neck, warm tears slipping down onto your shoulder. He shuddered against you as he held you tighter, his arms giving you a gentle squeeze. You fall apart against each other and try not to focus on it as your bond does the same. Somehow you knew there was nothing you could do or say that could change the way he felt or how it happened. You knew he couldn't just unlove someone because that's what scared you both most about love, how strong it was. You can't escape it and you can't change it. It has the power to destroy friendships and bonds and turn the closest of people into awkward strangers. You don't have control over love because it chooses itself who it associates itself with, and leaves those people to watch hopelessly as they fall into love. Maybe that's why it's called falling. You fall into love because as soon as you slip even if it's only a little bit you go tumbling down the hill, beating yourself up and tearing yourself apart as you go while trying not to let them see. Sweet Pea slipped and now you were seeing him at the bottom from the top, seeing him torn and tears staining his cheeks.
And suddenly, it happens all at once. A small slip and then butterflies. They swarm into your stomach and heart, their wings clouding your thoughts as you physically feel yourself tumbling down an imaginary hill. Twigs and rocks cut and poke at your heart as it speeds up its once even beating. Every where Sweet Peas body touched yours felt hot and clammy, your mind shutting down and setting off distress signals. It projects one more clear thought before going dark, leaving you frozen in fear.
You love him.

If You Give a Boy a Scrunchie
Pairing: Bucky Barnes x Reader
Warnings: None. Fluffiest shit I've ever written tbh.
Every morning for the last month, Bucky had gone into the same coffee shop and ordered the same exact thing. A small black coffee to go. Coincidentally, you would also stop by the same shop on your way to class. The first time you saw him was when you were in a hurry, having slept through your alarm, but still needed that morning wake up only coffee could cure. You apologized profusely and he muttered something you didn't understand and walked away. He would always speak in Romanian, and while you lived in Romania, you were only a college student studying abroad and hadn't quite gotten the hang of the language just yet. The morning after your first run-in with Bucky, you were waiting in line. You turned your head when the door chimed and saw him walk in.  Every day forward you would watch for him. There was something about the way he moved, the way he spoke only those four words to the barista.
"Cafea neagră pentru a merge"
Black coffee to go. His simple order and the way he wore his hat pulled down to cover his face. A gorgeous face. You had gotten a good close up the day his broad chest nearly knocked you to the ground. Red, full lips and shining blue eyes.
He always looked lost. Not in a he needed directions to the train station way, but in a he didn't know who he was way.
You had become very curious about him. What was his name, his favorite song or food, would he notice you and ask you out?
You didn't have the slightest clue how to approach him, you didn't know the language well enough to hold a lengthy conversation. Then one day someone was looking for the train station. A tourist desperately trying to find someone in the shop who spoke English. As you were getting up from your seat to help, you heard him.
"Four blocks west then take a left. You should see the sign."
So he did know English, and from the sound of his accent he was from America. You spent that entire night ignoring your study guide and instead tried thinking of ways to make a connection with him. He always seemed to be in a hurry to get his coffee and leave. He never hung around and spoke to anyone or came in with a friend. You were a creative person by nature and loved to make others smile, and seeing as how Bucky had not once smiled, you wanted to do something cute.
During a phone call back home, your little sister had told you about the newest dad going around her school. Looking into it on the internet you realized it was something known world wide. Sure, it was childish, but it was simple and you thought it was actually pretty adorable.
The next morning after he had gotten his coffee and left, you quickly put your plan into action. You skipped up behind him and tapped his shoulder. He spun, arm raised in preparation to defend himself and you ducked.
"What?" He asked, eyes darting around nervously
You almost ditched your plan to run away in humiliation but something inside told you to go through with it anyway. You held out your hand.
"I...I'm sorry, I didn't mean to startle you. I just wanted to give you something."
"What?" He repeated, looking at your extended hand "What is that?"
"Just a gift. Take it" you all but thrust it into his hand "I hope you have a good day"
You turned and hurried away, cheeks red. You felt stupid and wanted to crawl in a hole. You could never show your face in the coffee shop again, for sure.
Bucky went back to his apartment, your gift clutched tight in his fist. He sat down at the small table and opened his Vibranium fingers. In his palm laid a navy blue scrunchie with small faux pearls along the sides and a strip of paper tied to it with a ribbon.
"A ponytail holder?" He scrunched up his nose
"I think you're mad cute" Bucky read the note attached out loud "Mad?"
This was by far the most curious gift he'd ever received. So curious that he made his way to the library to research the meaning.
"Why would someone gift me a ponytail holder?" he typed into the search bar
It took him nearly half an hour to find an actual definition of this gift and he cursed his lack of knowledge of modern technology. He clicked the Urban Dictionary link and began to read..
"Scrunchie: an accessory used for so many different reasons. perfect for using in your hair but also perfect to wear as a bracelet on your wrist to compliment your outfit. scrunchies are also a symbol of love. when a boy gives a girl his sweatshirt the girl will give him her scrunchie. she wants him to wear it on his wrist so he thinks of her when they aren’t together"
Bucky felt his cheeks become heated. The thought of someone liking someone like him was out of the question but it made him feel good inside nonetheless. He wasn't boyfriend material, not even close, but he looked at the scrunchie and remembered your face. It was sweet, warm, beautiful.
The next morning Bucky walked a bit quicker than normal to the coffee shop. He was hoping you'd be there already and he frowned when you weren't. He waited. You never showed. He tried again the next day. Again, you didn't come in. He asked the barista if you had been in before he got there but no such luck.
Two days later he froze in the door when he saw you sitting at your usual high top table, nose buried in a text book. He walked over and cleared his throat and you looked up at him.
"Here"
He extended his arm and for the first time you noticed it was made of metal, but that wasn't the puzzling part of the situation. He was holding out a hoodie that still had the tag on it. You looked back up at him with questioning eyes and he held the hoodie out farther. You then noticed, as the sleeve of his jacket rode up, that he was wearing your scrunchie.
"If a girl gives a boy a scrunchie it means she likes him. If the boy likes her back, he's supposed to give her his hoodie. I only have this jacket so I bought you a hoodie.I hope that's okay."

12 | The Universe has Other Plans
Tumblr media
Pairing: Zuko x Ama (OC)
Word Count: 6200+
.☽☼☾.
~ Ama ☾ ~
The bachelorette party came way too quickly. Katara happily agreed to letting Suh join us. Something about how I've made her feel uncomfortable, and that she needs to feel safer with us girls. Oh if only she knew that Suh wasn't here to stay.
By midday, everyone stood at the village entrance to bid farewell to the groomsmen. The walls of ice were curved around the town and there was a large archway with the Water Tribe symbol carved at the top as the entrance.
"Have fun, you guys." Katara told all the men, stealing a hug from her fiance.
"Oh we'll have lots of fun!" Sokka exclaimed with excitement. "Booze, strippers and parting is what I've been waiting for." Suki playfully smacked Sokka's chest.
Aang tilted and shook his head. "Sokka, that's not what's happening."
"What!" Sokka gave Aang a disappointed look and then looked over at Zuko. "What kind of bachelor party did you plan?"
Zuko looked a little uncomfortable with the sudden question. "He planned the kind of bachelor party I asked for." Aang responded for him.
"Sokka will you act civil for once in your life?" Katara reprimanded her brother with her hand on her hip.
"The answer is very simple. No." Sokka grinned just to taunt our sister. I chuckled at them while Katara sighed in disappointment.
"Alright, well I think we should go if we want to make it Milu Island before sundown." Aang interjected the bickering. "Bye, sweetie." He leaned down to give Katara a chaste kiss.
Suh skipped to Zuko, wrapping her arms around his neck to give him a hug, he in turn wrapped his arms around her waist. He and I shared a quick look. Reminding me that I had to keep a close eye on the suspicious girl.
After all the short goodbyes, the four men climbed up Appa to go to the small Earth Kingdom island. "There's still gonna be booze though, right?" Sokka wondered as he climbed over the saddle's side.
"Alright, miss maid of honor," Toph started to ask, drawing the attention to me. "What do you have planned for us?"
"Well, as per Katara's request. We don't have strippers." I turned to my sister, seeing her shake her head at me.
"Wow, you and Aang really are meant to be." Toph quipped.
"What is it with you all and strippers?" Katara wondered loudly. Her expression was genuinely confused and she looked a little concerned. "Don't you all think it's a bit degrading?"
"Course not." I shook my head and warped an arm around Katara's shoulders. "They're wonderful people. I spent some time with a small group a few years back. A lot of them enjoy what they do and get paid well. I learned a few moves, too. If you want sis, I can teach you for your honeymoon."
My sister immediately turned red and shoved me off her. "Ama!" The girls and I laughed at her reaction. "Can we just get to the bachelorette party! Please!"
"As you wish, princess." I teased her. "First stop is the spa." I announced, leading the group of girls through the town and towards the beginning of what would be an insane night.
.☽☼☾.
After spending a couple hours at the spa, we headed back to the palace. I had some of the maids decorate the living room so that it would look more like an actual party than some boring hang out.
There was blue and yellow confetti on the tables, where there were some snacks like seal jerky and kale cookies placed on top. The couches and the floors were covered in blankets, because I doubt any of them will make it to the bedrooms. And my favorite touch to the setting. An ice sculpture of shirtless Aang, posing with his air-staff.
Katara hated it at first, but quickly gave in to her own embarrassment. Blushing a deep red, but still taking the seats closest to it. I didn't find Katara's modest behavior annoying or weird. I knew that Katara just liked to keep some things private and I respect it. I just couldn't help but tease her and push her a little bit out of her comfort zone. I made sure that the sculpture was the only thing that was over the top.
The girls were chatting for some time and eating the snacks set forth while I grabbed an activity. I made sure to keep an eye on Suh. Currently, she was talking to Suki. And I noticed her glance out the window.
"All right ladies, we have one game to play before you all black out and I have to keep you all from puking all over the place. Grab a drink and take a seat." I announced, handing Katara a glass of hard wine. I gave the others a moment to get settled in their seat before explaining what was happening.
"So, this will be more on the bride-to-be than anyone else." I started. "Basically, I asked Aang a series of questions, but Katara doesn't know what he answered. So I'm going to ask the questions and if she answers the same as he did, you all take a sip from your drinks. But if she doesn't, she has to take a sip."
"Ha!" Katara laughed confidently. "Aang and I know everything about each other. I don't think this game will get me to drink a lot."
"We shall see dear sister." I cocked one of my eyebrows and unfolded the paper with the list of questions and Aang's responses. "First up. Who's the better kisser."
"Easy. Me." Katara gave her self-assured answer.
I shook my head. "Apparently your fiance believes that he's the better kisser."
Katara scoffed and shook her head as the girls giggled. "That doesn't sound like Aang. Are you sure that's what he answered?"
"Positive." I nodded. Katara sighed, but still took a sip from her glass. Her face cringed a bit at the strong alcohol.
"Looks like you two don't know each other as well as you guys thought." Suki teased.
"Oh please, it was one question." Katara pointed out, still being confident about how she'd answer. "Next question."
Holding up the paper again, I looked at the next thing on the list. "Who said "I love you" first?"
Katara smiled lightly, taking a moment to think back. "He did."
"Correct-a-mundo." I nodded and turned to the girls. "Ladies take a sip."
"Katara better get most of these right cause I'm trying to get wasted tonight." Toph commented before grabbing her glass.
"Me too." Mai, surprisingly agreed. She was usually a light drinker, but I guess this was the one exception.
I chuckled at them and took a quick look at Suh. Noting that she was hesitant to drink and glanced out the window. Perhaps Zuko and I were right. Maybe she was anxious because she was supposed to be meeting the others tonight, but was here instead.
The night proceeded. I made sure to keep Suh in my line of sight. She avoided me for the entire night, which I was glad about. Instead she was speaking with Ty Lee, who was just a bit more chipper than usual with the alcohol in her system.
Suki and Toph were both talking with Katara. The bride-to-be was the most out of it compared to everyone else, followed by Suki and Ty Lee. Toph was the furthest from a lightweight, her words slurred a bit but for the most of it, she could hold herself up. Suh had barely drank anything since the end of the drinking game earlier.
Mai was slouched across the sofa and I sat on the floor beside her. I had to be completely sober to be able to properly manage everything. And Mai, despite being a bit tipsy, could still hold a decent conversation. The alcohol made her more giggly than talkative, which I admit was a bit weird.
"Ama, are you even listening to me?" She frowned with a whine.
My head snapped to look up at her. She held her head up with her hand and looked at me with confusion. "I'm sorry, what?"
"I was talking about how Kei Lo's mom absolutely hates me." She stated and glanced over to where I was just looking. "You've been looking over at Suh a lot tonight. You really are jealous."
"Am not." I rolled my eyes. Here we go again.
Mai repositioned herself to lay on her stomach and rest her chin on her hands. "Ama literally one week ago, you and Zuko were cuddling up on the couch. No one asked what happened that night, but-"
"We told you all, we were reading and just fell asleep." I interrupted to remind her.
"Okay." She huffed an unbelieving laugh. "You're just lucky Suh wasn't the one who found you guys like that. I don't think I'd be able to handle another one of her screeching rants." Mai rolled her eyes and sipped her wine. "I really don't want to deal with her. As a Zuko’s advisor I’m bound to run into her at least once a week."
I wanted to tell her that she wouldn't have to worry about that because Suh was a fake. But then again, while Zuko and I were almost positive of it, it was just a conspiracy. "Good luck." I told her instead, getting her to chuckle.
Loud shrieks caught our attention. I was almost ready to get into a fighting position, but it was just Suki and Katara. Their arms were wrapped over each other's shoulders and their glasses were held high up in the air as they sang loudly.
"Horror, let's talk about the horror!" They sang incredible out of tune. Toph sat beside them with her hands covering her ears. "I'm the melancholy one! I live my life as if I'm yearning!"
Mai and I laughed loudly at them. Katara and Suki couldn't even finish the song because their giggling kept getting in the way. Katara set her glass of wine down and doubled over in laughter. Lucking they were sitting on the floor.
I shook my head at her and grabbed my glass of water to have a sip. Until a large crash interrupted everyone's good spirits. The large living room window was crashed into by two large men completely dressed in black and ski-masks covered their face and hair.
I jumped up immediately, so did Toph and Mai, ready to fight. Suh scurried away, pulling the drunk Ty Lee with her. Toph stood in front of Suki and Katara protectively. The two girls were trying to get off the ground, but they had way too much wine and their stances were off. I found it ironic that the two girls who made it the most clear that they wanted to be drunk were the two most sober to fight off the intruders.
The men rolled on the floor and stood up. They used earthbending to pull up chunks of the stone floor up and throwing them at us. Toph, protected herself and the two girls behind her by creating a wall out of the stone floor. Mai and I dodged the chunk thrown at us. Each of us in different directions.
Mai being the prepared person she was, had her knives with. So while dodging the chunk of stone, she threw the knives at our attacker. It barely grazed his arm, cutting through the black fabric.
I was jumping in the direction of Katara and Suki. "Get behind the couch!" I ordered them.
"No, we can help." Katara claimed. But based on her slurred words and her weak waterbending beside her, I knew she was way too intoxicated.
"Get behind the couch!" I repeated, more violently and authoritatively. I'd be damned if I allowed her to fight in the state she was in. She could barely stand correctly and she wanted to fight?! She'd get hurt.
With a frown, Katara and Suki scurried behind the couch. I bent the water that Katara just had and held it by my side. I scanned the room for Ty Lee and Suh. But they were nowhere to be seen. They must have already hid somewhere.
Bending the water, I used it to create a chunk of ice and threw them at Mai's opponent. He had his attention on Mai, throwing stone after stone at her while she gracefully dodged each of them. He didn't see the large ball of ice and it crashed into his side and threw him on the ground.
Toph slammed her foot into the ground and the stone floor shot up, engulfing her attacker. He was unable to move, thus unable to bend. I took her example and bent my water to engulf Mai and I's attacker completely in ice.
         "Too easy." Toph said cockily.
"It was way too easy." I grumbled skeptically as I walked to one of the glaring men.
Toph went over to the other with her arms crossed. "They over estimated themselves, obviously. A bunch of intoxicated girls in one place alone." Her hands rested on her knees while she bent down to one of them. "We just need to know why they did it."
I sighed, but supposed she was right. At the same time, Toph and I removed their face covering. My breath hitched when I pulled the mask off. I knew this man. He had light brown hair, a wrinkled forehead, despite not being middle aged yet, brown eyes and an unmistakable deep scar that ran across his face.
I felt like I couldn't move. He just looked up at me with a knowing smirk. He recognised me. He was getting joy from seeing me after he hurt me in the most painful way possible.
"Ama!" Katara's voice shouted fearfully. My head snapped around. My eyes widened even more when seeing Katara being held by none other than Azula. She stood behind my sister with one arm around her neck and blue fire in her other hand.
"You know, you should really invest in some better guards." Her venomous voice said while Katara desperately tried to remove Azula's arm. But the firebender only tightened her arm, choking my sister lightly.
"Let her go, Azula." I demanded with a glare. I wasn't completely sure what the connection was between Azula and the earthbenders that just attacked. I just knew that Azula had my sister in a vulnerable state.
The woman snickered at me. "You saying that has no effect on what I choose to do."
"And what if I caved your face in with a boulder." Toph growled, bending a large piece of stone beside her.
"But you won't." Azula confidently smirked. "Cause I have the Avatar's finance in one hand, and a fire in the other. And it's getting dangerously close to her face." The fire only got closer to Katara's cheek. "What do you say? Should I give her and Zuzu a matching scar?"
"Stop!" I ordered, but it came out more like a beg.
Azula looked at me with the most menacing smirk on her red painted lips. "Drop your weapons and stop your bending. And free my friends." She told us. Mai, Toph and I all shared the same questioning look, before dropping our knives, water and stone as well as freeing the two demons. "Thank you. I'm just here to talk." Azula said, moving the fire away from Katara's face, but keeping it ablaze.
"Is that why you sent two guys to attack us and now have my sister?" I snarled the question.
"When was I ever one for a less than dramatic entrance?" She pointed out arrogantly. "I'm just a little offended that I wasn't invited to the wedding. After all, if it weren't for my threatening to capture you all, who knows if the bride and groom would even be in love today."
"Get on with it, Azula." Mai grumbled at her ex-bestfriend.
Azula sighed and shook her head. "Mai. So impatient. I'm just here to leave a warning. To Ama" I narrowed my eyes and tilted my head. "You remember when you chained me up all those years ago. You interrupted the Agni Kai between Zuko and I. That was cheating."
"You lost that Agni Kai when you aimed for me. And I couldn't just let you hurt Zuko more than you already did." I clenched my jaw, wondering where she was going with this?
"This isn't about him. This is about you." She scoffed. "You beat me. Hurt my pride a bit, I'll admit. But no worries, cause I'm here to take it back."
"You're doing all this cause you got your feelings hurt?!" Toph shouted.
"Well it's not like I have anything better to do." She laughed. This absolute sociopath. "Look, this doesn't end here. I just need to give Ama a bit of insight about what I'm capable with. Remind her about what she still has to lose." Azula started to move around the couch and moved towards the broken window, dragging Katara with her. The two men also walked closer to the window. "Your little girlfriend was just the beginning."
Once that was said, Azula threw Katara on the ground and the three of them jumped out the window to escape. I skid over to my sister, holding her in my arms as she wept out of fear. Mai and Top ran to the window. Hoping to maybe take them on now that Katara was safe.
"They're gone." Toph announced with confusion.
"They're gone?" Suh's voice came in, peeking her head into the living room from the hallway. "Spirits, that was terrifying."
I was too concerned with Katara than to stress over Suh. Even though the annoying woman wasn't involved in this little fight, I was somehow even more convinced that she was involved with Azula.
"I'm going to kill her." I grumbled with my jaw clenched and my arms holding Katara tightly.
.☽☼☾.
The boys finally got back sometime during the afternoon the next day. After Azula left, the bachelorette party was essentially over. No way was anyone able to get back to that festive and joyous feeling.
Appa landed in the courtyard and Sokka jumped out first. "Suki, I wrote you a song!" He announced with a grin. But the atmosphere was gloomy and no one smiled with him.
Katara ran to Aang, engulfing him in a tight hug. "Sweetie, what happened?" He asked her with so much concern.
"Zu-bear!" Suh ran to Zuko and jumped on him for a hug. "It was so bad. Azula came in and..." She explained everything so rapidly.
Zuko looked over at me, but I was looking somewhere else completely. My jaw was clenched and I fiddled with my nails. My anger or nerves haven't calmed down at all since last night. I barely got sleep. And I still didn't completely understand what was happening.
I knew that Azula threatened my sister and basically just told me that she was behind Mulan's death. But also. I looked at the face of Mulan's killer. The man who took her from me. It was all too much too fast. I felt hurt and sad and angry and a thousand other emotions at once.
I refused to look at anyone and just headed back inside the palace. Tears threatening to spill from my eyes.
.☽☼☾.
The night sky was filled with bright stars. Being a waterbender, I've always been drawn to the nighttime more than the day. And since a child, I'd stare up at the night sky, keeping an eye out for constellations and finding patterns.
Mulan and I layed in a clearing together, our shoulders touching as we looked up. Her rough hand was intertwined with mine while my right hand was pointing up, showing her the constellations. "...and if you look there, you can see the twin badgermoles." My hand outlined the stars.
Mulan didn't say anything for a moment as she tried to find where I was pointing. "I don't see them." She shook her head and her eyes shined in bewilderment.
"Here." I said, I took my hand that was intertwined with hers and pointed up again. "It takes a moment, but focus more on the brighter stars."
"I think I see it." Her tone was unsure. I couldn't see her, but I was positive that she had one of her eyebrows cocked upwards and a lopsided grin on her face.
"You think or you know?" I giggled, letting our arms fall back beside us.
She giggled along with me and brought her hand up to her face. "I don't know. I think I see it but I also might be psyching myself out." I shook my head and moved to my side to wrap an arm around her waist, keeping my eyes up at the sky.
"Hey, Ama?" She started with a questioning tone. I hummed a 'what', allowing for her to ask her question. "What do you think about settling down soon?"
I moved off of her and rested my head in the palm of my hand. "What do you mean?" I wondered. I mean, I was sure she meant what I was thinking, which was stopping from fighting bandits all the time. But I didn't want to just assume.
Mulan moved into a more seated position to lean on her elbows and look at me. "Well not now, but maybe like next year or something. What if we moved on from this chapter of our lives. We could buy a house. I've always wanted a big one. Somewhere to house all the kids who've been kicked out by their parents."
I grinned widely at her. She was so pure I loved it. Despite wielding a blade and having a fighting personality, Mulan never killed. She always had hope for people and always looking out for the underdog. Specifically children. I wasn't surprised at her idea to house rejected kids. After all, at 13 her own parents kicked her out for her sexuality.
She looked down at me, seeing my loving gaze. Her cheeks flushed red and a nervous laugh escaped her lips. "What?" I shrugged, moving to sit next to her. "I think that's a great idea." I told her, looking into her green eyes. "Someplace by a lake or ocean, preferably."
"And fertile soil." She added, biting her bottom lip in a happy manner. "I want a garden. Or two. One for vegetables and one for flowers." If there was one trait she took from her hateful parents, it was her love for nature and plants. She knew more about them than anyone I'd ever met. Other than Ursa, that is.
"We can sell our harests for money." I added, already planning a way to earn money.
"Su Ga Village." She grinned. "It's out west, the beaches are so clear and blue, you'll love it."
"Sounds like a plan." I laughed excitedly.
"Really?" A soft exhale left her grinning lips.
I moved to sit on my knees and got closer to her. My hands cupped her cheeks and smiled contently. "Really." I finalized and leaned down, pressing a chaste and loving kiss on her lips. Mulan's hands cupped my cheeks as well, deepening the kiss.
She pulled away first, with the happiest smile. "So it's settled. One year from now, we're going to get the house."
"And we're settling down." I finished. Or so I thought.
"And I'll finally meeting your friends and family?" She gave me a hopeful shrug and pressed her lips into a thin line.
I took a moment to think. I loved Mulan so, so much. It was time I got over this fear of not being accepted, and introduced her to the other people that I loved. "Yeah." I nodded. "It's about time they knew about you."
She squealed excitedly, peppering kisses all over my face as I laughed. "We'll invite them to some sort of housewarming party! You can make your cookies and I'll do the lemonade! Oh, I hope they like me."
I chuckled at my girlfriend, pulling her face closer to me. "They're going to love you. You know how I know?"
"How?" She intertwined our hands together, leaning even more until our noses touched.
"Because I love you." I told her. "And if they don't I'm just going to have to freeze their bodies until they do."
She shook her head at me. Lightly pushing me back until my back was on the grass floor and she was on top. Our hands were still intertwined. "I love you." She said softly, kissing me passionately. I responded blissfully. Slowly, her lips started to go down my neck and I moved my head back to give her more access.
But a loud crash interrupted our moment. Mulan jumped off me and I sat up. We exchanged the same concerned look. It sounded like a small scale rock avalanche, which was already concerning as is because we were at a mountain side. But what made it even more terrifying was that it came from the campsite. Where everyone else was.
The two of us jumped up and sprinted to the campsite. We were both incredibly shocked to find the scene. We were idiots to pick a place by a cliff. The entire side of it had collapsed, burying out entire site in it's gray rock and yellow-brown dirt.
I sucked in a sharp breath and started to look around for any sign of the rest of the Miraculous Bastards. "Masha!?" Mulan shouted. Getting no response. "Bono!? Taon!?" I ran to the rubble, digging though the rock and dirt.
They can't be gone. They can't. I'd never have another taste of Masha's meals. Bono would never share his poetry with me. Taon and I wouldn't  go on another adventure. They still had lives to live. Masha and Taon were going to get married!
I breathed heavily, ignoring the light jabs from the small rocks. Mulan skidded next to me, digging through the rock and dirt with me. She already had tears streaming down her face. They were her family. She knew them since her teen years. They were outcasts together.
Neither of us saw it coming. A rock about the size of my head was hurdled at us. Luckily, it didn't hit either of us. We jolted our heads up, seeing two men standing at the top of the fallen rock. Both were quite buff. One had light brown hair while the other pitch black hair.
They had disgusting grimances on their faces while they bent more chunks of earth by their side, throwing them towards us. Mulan and I had to jump away from the rubble to avoid the rock.
The men jumped down towards us, each landed a few feat away from us. I opened my waterskin, bending the water out and created ice bullets from it. One by one, I shot them at one of the men while Mulan had her katanas out and fought the one with light hair.
The man I fought with shot columns of earth out at me, but I dodged each of them. My feet stepped lightly from one place to another in a spinning motion as I maneuvered through the moving rock and towards the attacker. Once I got close enough, I created ice claws around my fingers and threw them at the man. They stuck into his bicep and he cried out in pain.
I sprinted even faster. The man used his good arm to create a wall of earth between us. I almost crashed into it, but stopped just inches away. I grumbled in anger and used a jet of water to push myself off the ground and over the wall. Jumping down the wall, I used the jet of water and forced it onto the man.
He didn't see it coming and it pushed him back. He fell on the ground and I created an ice sword, pointed it over him. "Where are my friends?!" I demanded to know, refusing to believe that they were dead. The man clenched his jaw, looking at me at me like I already knew.
A screech caught my attention. Mulan. She was in trouble. I immediately abandoned the man there and ran in the direction of the cry. Using a water jet to push myself over the wall I ran to the scene.
Mulan was stuck in between the ground and a boulder pressing on her. The earthbender had a satisfied smirk on his face as he saw her struggling against the rock. He saw me running over and in the last moment before I could waterbend at him, he raised the rock a few feet above the air and then let it fall.
It seemed to be in slow motion. Mulan let out a blood curdling cry while the boulder fell through the air. I made an attempt to save her, sending a forceful push of water, turning into ice at the ends to push the rock away. But it was too late. It crushed her, hitting her chest and gut more than anything else.
I let out a horrifying shout at the impact while Mulan's voice stopped. In anger, I turned to the man who just crushed her. Light beads of sweat dripped down his face and a pleasurable smile was on his face. I used up all of the water from my waterskin, but there were still the trees.
I focused on bending the water out of the trees, and the bark and wood broke off, killing the piece of life. I sent ice spears at the man. His smile went away real quick and he jumped back. And I sent more spears while he jumped back more and more until he tripped over a tree root and fell.
"A-ama..." A weak voice called for me. I immediately stopped my bending, but kept my arms out. This was my chance to get back at him. Bu Mulan needed me more.
I glanced at the man. "Run." I growled at him. And he did. He scurried up from the floor and ran away.
I sprinted over the Mulan. The boulder still pressed on her. I bent the water from the ice spears towards me and turned them back into ice under the boulder. I created it like a ramp and the giant rock rolled off of her. I immediately turned the ice back into water and let it float beside me.
I knelt down to my girlfriend and pulled her weak body onto my lap. "Hold on, okay." I held the tears in. I bent my water over her chest and it glowed over her while I tried to heal her. But even I, a moderate healer, could feel that there was so much damage in her chest. "Hold on."
"Ama." Her voice was raspy and choked up. I looked from her chest to her face. There were cuts and bruises on her once rosy cheeks. Scarlett blood dripped slowly out of her mouth. Her rough, bloody hand reached for my wrist, removing it from her chest and pulling it instead to her cheek. "It's okay." She assured me with a weak smile.
"No. No." I shook my head and tears already spilled from my eyes. My thumb lightly wiped across her cheek to make her feel safe with my touch. "We have a plan. We need to get that house. The kids, they need us. And your garden."
She gave me a tiny smile, her green eyes looked at each of my features as she took me in one last time. "Maybe in my next life." She told me. Her hand that held mine on her cheek got noticeably weaker.  "Ama, I love you."
I tried to speak. I tried to tell her that I loved her too. But instead I was choked up and a sob escaped my lips instead. Mulan dragged my hand to her lips and placed a soft kiss on my palm. I shook my head. I couldn't let her leave me. We just planned our future. "I love you, too." I finally choked out.
The redhead smiled that lovely smile, her teeth shining and everything. And then her hand spilled off of mine and her body went limp. I held her in my arms as her soul left her body. "No!" I sobbed. My heart broke right then and there. I hunched over and cradled her into me.
I shook my head. My tears were making my hair stick to my cheeks. All I could think was that this couldn't be real. The woman I loved couldn't have just died in my arms. But she did.
I wept for what felt like hours. Finally, I set her body down on the ground. Her eyes were still open. The once bright green eyes were now dull and painful to look at. Another sob forced its way out. My hand covered my mouth as I reached over, closing her eyes.
This was all his fault. He killed her. Murdered her and then I had to watch the life leave her body. This wasn't fair. Everyone was gone. I was alone. But all I saw was red.
.☽☼☾.
It was only nights later. I spent my days tracking them. The two men responsible for my pain. My heart was broken and they were about to feel my pain in a different way.
They were sitting by a fire. Having casual conversation and drinking beer like they hadn't just murdered four people nights before. They were truly monsters. I clenched my jaw and my blood boiled at the sight.
I jumped out from behind the tree, a curved ice swords in my right hand. They both jumped up at my surprise attack, I kicked the dark haired man back. And my sword swung to the light haired man. I didn't realize how close I was to him, because my sword cut his face. It went from his forehead down to his opposite cheek, being deeper at the cheek. Really, it worked in my favor.
I breathed heavily in anger. The man touched his cheek, and looked at the blood on his fingers. "You bitch!" He growled and looked at me. His brown eyes glared at me, and I glared back.
"I'd rather be a bitch than a monster like you." I snarled. He and his friend both levitated chunks of rock to hurdle at me. I frowned and took in deep breaths, knowing that I had the upper hand.
Not only was it the middle of the night. But it was also a full moon.
I created two large walls into a triangular shape in front of me to shield me from the rock they threw at me. While being temporarily protected I got into my stance. And when I was ready, feeling the energy of the moon, I let go of the shield and they splashed into the ground.
I focused on the water into the men's blood. My eyes were closed, hands were out in front of my and my fingers straight. The grunts of pain from the men confirmed that I was indeed bloodbending. I opened my eyes, seeing them hovering over the ground with stiff bodies.
"You will pay." I said through gritted teeth. My left foot moved to step in front of my right and my hands went down, my fingers curling slightly to suffocate them lightly at first. I could only admit this to myself, but I enjoyed seeing them like this. Terrified expressions and slightly trembling. Completely at my mercy.
"Please." The dark haired one pleaded. "We can explain."
I shook my head. "I don't need an explanation. I need revenge." Venom spilled from my lips. They killed Bono. They took away the lives of Masha and Taon. They murdered Mulan.
I was about to do it. I was about to crush their disgusting bodies and rid the world of these horrid excuses for men. But I couldn't. I thought back to what I said just moments before. That I'd rather be a bitch than a monster. Would I be a monster if I killed them?
This technique itself was invented by a woman so unethical, that it's now illegal. But even Hama never killed anyone. Just imprisoned the citizens of the FIre Nation. Now I was planning to take someone's life with it.
They deserve it. My own voice told me. And they probably did. But Mulan wouldn't want me to.
I didn't realize that I was hyperventilating until I let go of the bloodbending. The stress on their bodies for so long made the men pass out the moment they hit the floor. I fell to my knees, more tears of grief and terror escaping my eyes.
.☽☼☾.
I hope there was enough angst. I haven’t written fanfic for like a year because of school, so I think I’m starting to get the hang of it again, but even before my writing was trash.
Hang loose, amigos 🤙🏼

♡ chapter eight: daily life
When you woke again you began by stretching your body, then you peeled yourself out of the damp bed. Why was it damp anyway? Ah. You looked down. The swimsuit. Groaning you peeled the still slightly wet suit off your body and dug through your wardrobe. A pretty light blue wrap dress with a floral pattern was the choice as it was simple but cute . It was 10 am, so you weren't sure who would be awake, faintly recalling Jin mentioning something about 4 am when you had gone to bed. Heading to the bathroom, you washed your face and brushed your teeth before heading downstairs.
It seems only you had awoken as it was still silent on the main floor. You surveyed the area and decided to take it upon yourself to clean up this mess. You were awake anyway, and not quite hungry yet. Humming softly, you picked up various empty bottles and cans, threw away garbage, swept and mopped up sticky messes. Satisfied with your work, you wiped your brow and boiled some water for some chai tea. A hand on your waist startled you, "Just me, sorry." Yoongi's deep voice came from behind you as he reached over your shoulder to grab a mug from the shelf. He moved to the coffee maker and began to brew some, "Did you clean up all on your own?" He asked as he looked around.
You nodded, taking your mug over to one of the seats on the island and bouncing the teabag in your cup lightly. "We could've helped once everyone was awake..." Yoongi said sounding sheepish. You waved a hand, "I wasn't doing anything anyway, plus you guys have all been so kind to me as I've settled in." Taking a sip of your drink you smiled at him, "Does Namjoon have a habit of getting undressed when he's drunk or is that new?" Yoongi chuckled and came to sit beside you with his now full cup of coffee, "That is new for sure. I was surprised to find him in his boxers but whatever, not like I haven't seen it before. Must have been a shock for you though."
You giggled, "Hm I don't know about shock, he has a nice build. It was just so funny!" Yoongi smirked at you and raised an eyebrow, "Nice build huh?" You stuck your tongue out at him then turned back to your tea, ignoring Yoongis soft laughter. "Y/N~ Goodmorning~" Jimin sang as he came into the kitchen, grabbing a mug and filling it with coffee. "What am I? Chopped liver?" Yoongi grumbled from beside you, making Jimin and you laugh. Jimin set his mug down and came behind Yoongi enveloping him in a tight hug. "Good morning to you Yoongi!" He said, ignoring the older mans attempts to shake him off.
Seokjin and Hoseok came into the kitchen then and began fetching their own drinks of choice. “Were you still wet this morning after last night Y/N?” Jin asked, taking a gulp of his tea. You choked on your own mouthful and looked at him incredulously. Seokjins ears went bright red as he realized the connotations of his words, “Not like that!” He sputtered, “Because you went to bed in your swimsuit!” You nodded, “Sure that's what you meant, not that you wanted a repeat of Friday?” You said boldly with a wink, making the four men gawk at you. “Anyway, do you guys do a Sunday party too?” Hoseok cleared his throat, “Yeah we do, none of us have Monday classes anyway. It can either be batshit crazy or a bit more mellow than other nights.” You made a noise of understanding and put your now empty mug in the sink.
By now it was close to 1 pm so you decided to make bibimbap for lunch with the help of Jin. The two of you shooed the other boys out of the kitchen to wake up the still sleeping men because they kept stealing slices of the ingredients while you were cutting them up. When the two of you were satisfied with the plating and table setup you asked Yoongi, who had opted to work on his computer on the couch, to go let the other boys know the food was ready.
You tried to keep in the snicker you felt when Namjoon came to sit beside you in his plaid pajamas and messy bed hair. Carding your hands through his hair, you made it somewhat presentable, earning a satisfied hum from the barely aware man. The other six laughed at his state, but poured him a glass of water and made sure he ate his lunch. After he had eaten Namjoon was much more aware and so the boys began their relentless teasing of his impromptu strip show the night before.
Namjoon banged his head on the table, “God, I am so sorry Y/N.” But you shook your head and gave him a smile. “She thinks you have a hot body Joon, don’t worry.” Yoongi said as he began to clear the table. You gave him a look but he just laughed while Namjoon looked flustered. “Y/N~ Play a game with me and Kook.” Taehyung whined coming to tug on your arm, you rolled your eyes and let him drag you to the games area. Jungkook sat beside you and rested his head on your shoulder as Taehyung set up the console. Jungkook smelt good and his hair was still the tiniest bit damp, so you assumed he had showered before lunchtime.
Taehyung came to sit on your other side and the three of you began your intense game of Mario Kart. Well, intense between Jungkook and Tae that was. Of all types of games, racing games were your biggest weak spot. You struggled to keep up with the two, and after a few hours, you gave up your remote to Jimin and instead cuddled into Jungkook. Pulling out your phone you looked at the mostly empty home screen. You’d deleted all your social media apps when you’d left your old dorm, the pain of the memories had been too much for you to even block them. Pocketing your phone once more, you inhaled Jungkooks scent and felt much calmer. You hated the effect your ex-friends still had over you.
Stretching, you left your spot, stepping over Jimin who was sat on the floor and headed to the back yard. Jin and Namjoon were both reading on the outdoor wicker couch while Yoongi was clacking on his computer in one of the matching chairs. Hoseok was doing yoga on the grass which made you raise a brow. “No one is gonna join poor Hobi in his yoga?” You said stepping out onto the deck. Jin and Namjoon both made a face while Yoongi completely ignored the comment. You shook your head and made your way over to where Hoseok was. “Bunch of losers.” Hoseok said as you came to stand beside him, copying his pose.
It felt nice to do the slow stretches in the soft sun of the afternoon, Hoseok was patient as he taught you the proper techniques. Occasionally he would move your limbs with his hands, his grip gentle but direct. It was a strangely intimate thing, but you both spent a lot of it giggling with each other as you attempted the more difficult moves. When you had finished with yoga, Hoseok turned on a speaker and began to dance. You watched his fluid movements and joined in slowly as you picked up on the beat. The dance ended up getting silly very quickly and soon the two of you were collapsed in a pile of laughter on the grass.
You sighed sitting up, “I suppose we should make dinner now then.” Hoseok hummed but made no move to get up from his position on the grass. You watched Jin stand up from his spot, “Me and Yoongi will make fish and rice so you guys can stay out here.” He said, pulling Yoongi to stand with him. You gave him a huge smile and a call of gratitude before laying down so only your head was beside Hobis. "We've been let off the hook, though I'm not sure you were going to be help anyway." You said with a giggle. Hoseok sat up and looked at you, "Hey! I can help better than Namjoon and Jimin!" He argued, making Namjoon give a shout of indignation from his seat on the deck.
You laughed harder. "You think that's funny? How about this!" Hobi began to tickle you and you screeched with laughter. "Oh, ticklish are we? Admit I'm helpful!" -- "Never!" You struggled to say in between his attacks. You were wheezing and could barely breathe as he tickled you, but you never backed down from a fight of any kind. Hoseok chuckled evil, "Not giving in hm? How about this!" He snatched you into his arms and began to spin around as fast as he could. You shrieked as he did so clutching to his arm and shoulder tightly. You heard Namjoon yell to Hoseok to leave you alone and not to fall, but he was clearly ignored.
When Hoseok finally slowed and put you on your feet the both of you were so dizzy that you fell right on top of him and took him down with you. "Who's trapped now?" You said with a sly smile, then you pressed a quick kiss to Hoseoks lips before running away into the kitchen with a cackle, leaving the man stunned on the ground. "What's got you all messed up?" Taehyung asked brushing your hair back into place when you nearly collided with him running into the room. "Oh, just a little play fight with Hobi." You said with a wink. "Well, foods ready anyway so sit." With that, he left to get Namjoon and Hoseok inside.
Dinner was delicious and everyone was in high spirits, you were shooed away from dishes once Yoongi spilled that you had cleaned the house alone. You took a quick shower before heading to your room to pick an outfit. Flicking through your hangers you came across a pretty lemon yellow silk dress with a cowl neckline , sliding it on and tugging it down so it sat how you wanted on your curves. Glittery lip gloss, a gold highlight, and a dramatic lash was your makeup for the night. Brushing through your hair and giving it a quick blow dry, you were ready and headed downstairs.
Taehyung, Jimin and Jungkook were back on the couch playing games when you reached the ground floor. Taehyung was wearing black slacks, a matching belt, a white t-shirt tucked in, and a black, red and white striped dress shirt set over top , looking dashing indeed. Jimin was in a simple black long-sleeved top with a cut down the center that revealed just enough skin, tucked into black slacks and cinched at the waist with a belt as well . Jungkook had on ripped blue jeans with a white tee tucked into them, a black belt sat around his waist and a light tan button-up over it . They were too involved in their game to pay you any attention, whooping in excitement at the screen.
You walked by them and into the kitchen where Seokjin and Yoongi were pouring various drinks into a glass on the island. Seokjin was dressed fairly simple, black slacks and a blue long sleeve button up with white stripes , classic but handsome. Yoongi was in black skinny jeans and a black t-shirt with white graphics on it, a blue floral patterned jean jacket to pull it all together . “What are you two up to?” You asked, propping your elbows on the island and resting your head in your palms. “Y/N! Wow, you look gorgeous as ever.” Jin complimented, making you crinkle your eyes in a bright smile. “Thanks! You too are looking dashing as always~” Jin laughed at your words but you saw a slight blush cross Yoongis face before he cleared his throat.
“We are making the punishment drink for the loser of their Overwatch game.” He gestured to the youngest three on the couch. “Oh? I pity he who ends up in that spot!” You chuckled. “Do you want something, I can mix you up something fun?” Jin asked with a wiggle of his brows. “Surprise me then Master Mixologist~” You cooed. “Jin’s making drinks? Make me and Hoseok rum and cokes.” Namjoon said as he came to stand beside you, while Hoseok came to sit on the kitchen table. Namjoon was wearing black jeans secured with a black belt, a red tee tucked in, and a jean jacket, while Hoseok was in tan slacks and had a light blue button-up slightly tucked in and undone a few buttons at the top.
“Fine, fine, I’ll make your drinks. What a waste of my talent...” Seokjin grumbled, you giggled knowing this probably happened often. Jin handed you the now finished drink which was a pretty pinky-peach colour. “A Love Potion for the lovely lady.” He said with a wink as you took a sip. “This is perfect!” The sweet and tangy cocktail fit your taste exactly, “What's in it?” You asked Seokjin as he poured the drinks for Namjoon and Hobi, “Peach schnapps, vodka and grapefruit juice, guaranteed to make you fall for the person who made it for you.” He answered suggestively, making you smile. “These will make you love me too, though!” He said handing Hoseok and Joon their drinks, they just rolled their eyes at his comment though.
A wail came from the living room and you all looked over to see Taehyung and Jungkook dancing as Jimin sat on his knees, head in his hands. “Seems like the winner has been decided.” Yoongi said, crossing his arms with a smirk on his face. A very dejected Jimin came to the kitchen dragging his feet as Jungkook and Tae whooped along beside him. Yoongi presented the nasty concoction of various alcohols with a lime slice on the edge of the glass. Jimin grimaced and picked it up, gagging when he got a whiff of the drink. “This smells like alcoholic acid.” He deadpanned, making the rest of you howl with laughter.
Jimin pinched his nose and downed the drink while you cheered him on. He looked a bit sick as he finished it but chewed the lime triumphantly while the boys tackled him with hugs. “You’re all ridiculous!” You said through your laughter, shaking your head at their antics. “So you’re not proud of me?” Jimin said with a pout, his eyes big and shiny. “Proud of what? You losing?” You teased, taking a sip of your drink. Jimin gaped at you like he couldn’t believe his puppy dog eyes hadn’t worked. “Looks like you’ve met your match Jiminie~” Yoongi said with a smile. “We’ll see about that…” Jimin said, a mischievous smile on his lips.
There was a knock on the door at that moment and you downed the rest of your drink and smiled.  “Let’s get this party started!”

Or for Lupin, I've always wanted something on him dealing with the death of Sirius. Maybe his first really bad cold/flu and he's alone.
Well…he’s not entirely alone in this but I promise it’s angsty as hell for a while. Enjoy the feels ride….
Remus Lupin, cold
-Everything after the Ministry is a blur. There’s a rush of activity at Grimmauld Place as the Order gathers and tries to process the incident in the Department of Mysteries. And no one will really make eye contact with Remus. Plates of food appear in front of him and hands squeeze his shoulder in sympathy, but nothing more.
He nurses a glass of Firewhiskey with Bill and Arthur in the library and then excuses himself, heading upstairs. He pauses outside the room where Sirius had slept just last night but he cannot bring himself to open the door. Instead, he continues on to his own bare-bones room. It’s been stripped of all the garish luxuries of the Black family in favour of a simple quilt on the four-poster, a writing table, a bookshelf, and a dresser. Remus changes into a worn t-shirt and pyjama bottoms before crawling under the covers, feeling numb. He wants to cry, but he can’t make the tears come. Instead, he tosses and turns, head reeling with the fresh memory of his old friend disappearing beyond the veil. There’s the sound of Harry screaming echoing inside his head. There’s his own voice saying the terrible, terrible truth: “He’s gone”.
Sleep will not come. After hours of staring at the ceiling, he wanders downstairs. The Order has dispersed and he wonders for a moment if he’s all alone until he sees Bill’s boots and Fleur’s shoes at the door; they must’ve agreed to stay. He wishes that Tonks, his sometimes fellow insomniac, was here but she still lay injured in St. Mungo’s. Sometimes when Sirius was still alive, he’d make this same trip down to the kitchen at three in the morning to find her and Sirius sitting with cups of tea and playing cards. They’d deal him a hand and he’d play a few rounds until they all wandered back to bed and slept well past sunrise.
Tonight, the kitchen is empty. Remus pours another glass of Firewhiskey and lets it burn his throat. He pours another two fingers and takes the glass with him back upstairs. He tosses it back and crawls back into bed, burying himself under the quilts. Finally, sometime around four, he falls into an uneasy sleep.
It’s eleven before he wakes again. He thinks briefly about staying in bed but knows sooner or later someone will barge in insisting he come down for a cuppa. He goes and stands under the shower until the hot water has nearly scalded his skin, and then he dresses and goes downstairs.
Bill, Fleur, and Charlie are in the kitchen. They all say awkward morning greetings, clearly unsure of how to deal with the situation. Remus mumbles his greeting in return and pour a large mug of tea. He sits at the table in silence as the other three chatter casually.
“How’s Tonks?” he asks after a while.
Charlie looks at him and gives a small smile.
“She’ll be okay. I went to see her earlier this morning. Healer said she’ll probably be in another day or two and then she’ll be released.”
“Good,” Remus replies.
“You should go see her later,” Charlie suggests.
Remus shrugs and finishes his tea, washes his cup, and goes back to his room. In the mirror on top of his dresser he stares at his reflection and does not recognize the face that looks back. This man looks much older than mid-thirties. He’s seen much more than any thirty-something should.
He climbs back into bed and sleeps for the whole afternoon. He doesn’t feel like doing anything else. Bed is his old friend and old enemy all mixed into one complicated mess. It’s where he’s so often convalesced before and after full moons. He rarely spends time there if it isn’t necessary; it’s too tied up in the wolf. Today, sleep is a refuge from people and feelings. And Sirius.
Someone knocks on his door and calls that dinner is on the table. He shuffles downstairs and sits in his usual spot. Molly Weasley puts a plate in front of him with far more food than he can eat even on a good day. Bill sits down at his left in the chair that had normally been occupied by Sirius. Remus feels a surge of anger at this change in routine and stabs a potato with his fork.
The food tastes bland and sandy in his mouth. He forces it down, washing it away with a glass of water that he refills twice. Someone asks if he’s gone to see Tonks today and all he can do is shake his head.
When he’s cleared his plate and started to leave the kitchen, he can hear a small chattering of voices behind him. Arthur has been elected to confront him and he comes out into the hallway with a nervous smile.
“Remus,” he says. “Are you…Molly wanted me to ask if there’s anything you needed. If you’re doing okay, I mean?”
Remus shakes his head and forces a smile.
“It’s okay,” he says softly. “I’m okay.”
How are you supposed to act when you’re mourning the death of someone you already spent a decade mourning? Losing Sirius a second time is not the same as the first, but it feels just as complicated.
With his hands in his pockets, Remus retreats back to the refuge of upstairs. He pauses again outside Sirius’ room; the one that he occupied for the past year, not the bedroom of his childhood that’s been left untouched. Remus pushes the door open and then shuts it behind himself, leaning against the heavy oak door and looking around the room. There’s a small pile of blankets on the floor next to the bed and Remus realizes with a pang that Sirius had not yet become re-accustomed to sleeping on a mattress. It had been the same when he’d showed up at Remus’ cottage after the Tri-Wizard Tournament. Although Remus had set up the couch for him, he found Sirius asleep on the ground in the morning.
There’s a few empty glasses on the bedside table with the dregs of Firewhiskey in them and a pack of unsmoked cigarettes on the bureau. Remus sits down on the bed and closes his eyes, riding the wave of emotions. It had all been unfair. Sirius should have never been locked up in this family prison. The Marauders should have never been torn apart like they were. Every day since Halloween 1981, Remus had wondered what life would have been like without Voldemort. And what his life would have been like with his friends still in it. And now, what life would have been like for Sirius if he’d been a free man.
But Sirius hadn’t been a free man, even after Azkaban.
Maybe it’s for the best, he thinks. And then he’s furious at himself for thinking of denying Harry his godfather. And he’s furious at Sirius for insisting on coming to the Department of Mysteries. And he hates himself for not be able to save him.
The tears come finally, bitter and frustrated and erratic. He flicks his wrist, summoning a cigarette, and lights it with the tip of his wand. The smoke burns his lungs and he coughs painfully but it feels good. He takes another long drag and chokes out a sob. By the time the cigarette is burned down to the filter, he’s calm and stony-faced again. He snuffs out the butt on Sirius’ nightstand and wipes his eyes.
He goes back to his room and realizes that he feels like shit. His head is pounding and there’s a dry tickle in his throat that he blames on the cigarette. All he wants to do again is sleep. He sheds his clothes in favour of the same tattered pyjamas and lays back down, head full of a fog. He sleeps through the night, though the rest is interrupted by bizarre dreams where he’s running towards Sirius and James and Lily and Harry but he can never reach them in time. He hears himself yelling but his mouth isn’t open. They don’t seem to hear him at all.
He wakes sometime in the early morning hours, five or six, and comes to consciousness with the realization that he still feels awful. Worse, actually. There’s a weight on his chest that compresses his lungs and a throbbing in his sinuses. Everything feels clammy. He stays in bed until the sun comes up and then decides he needs tea.
He peels himself out of the sweat-soaked sheets and goes to the shower, running the water as hot as he can stand once more and steps under the spray. His breath rattles and wheezes but no amount of coughing will clear it. By the time he’s out of the shower and getting dressed, he wonders if it’s worth going downstairs at all. The others are bound to notice, he thinks, as he looks at himself again in the mirror. The old man stares back at him with flushed cheeks and dark circled eyes.
If he wants tea, then he must go down. Kreacher will not take an order from a werewolf, no matter how many times Sirius had screamed at him to do otherwise. Remus huffs a series of coughs into his arm as he descends the stairs and by the time he reaches the kitchen, he feels weak and wobbly. To his great relief, the kitchen is empty. He sinks into a chair and uses some sloppy magic to make the tea, barely looking up as he does it. The brewed cup is weak, but it’s warm and makes his throat feel a little better with each sip. He’s just considering the hurdle of getting himself back upstairs before he’s interrupted by the sound of the front door and voices.
“Remus?” one voice that sounds like Bill calls.
With creaking knees, he stands and goes to the front hall. Charlie is helping Tonks to take her boots off as Bill holds her steady and Fleur and Kingsley hover nearby. Tonks looks up at him and he feels a conflict of emotions in his stomach. She looks exhausted and ill, and her hair is a dull brown. The injuries are taking up too much of her energy and she cannot focus enough to morph her hair.
But still, she smiles gently at him and removes her foot from her boot, pulling away from Bill’s supportive arm. She steps towards him and before he can move, she’s got her arms wrapped around him.
“I’m sorry,” she says softly into his ear. He shakes his head. What does she have to be sorry about?
“I should’ve prevented it. I shouldn’t have fallen for her tricks. I know better,” Tonks continues.
Remus puts a hand tentatively on her back and gently strokes his thumb along her spine in what he hopes is a comforting gesture.
She pulls away, looking up at him. She doesn’t say anything more, but he can tell by her expression that she’s worried about him.
The pressure in his head has built to a point where it must be relieved and a sharp prickle in his nose gives him a moment’s notice. He turns away, cupping his hands over his nose and mouth, and jerks with a thick, heavy sneeze.
Hurhh-GSHHH!
“Bless you,” a few voices offer before he turns back, sniffling and blinking his sleep-swollen eyes.
“Tonks, you should still rest,” Charlie chimes in, breaking a moment’s awkward silence. “Your usual spare room should be ready for you.”
He extends his arm to Tonks but she hesitates, looking back at Remus.
“You okay?” she asks softly so only he can hear her. He nods.
“Alright,” she says, turning to take Charlie’s arm. They head upstairs as the others watch from the front hall. When the pair have disappeared around the corner of the upper landing, Kingsley turns to Remus and offers his hand.
“I’m sorry about Sirius, mate,” he says.
“Thank you,” Remus says, returning the handshake. He tries to keep his grip steady but his body is starting to tremble from the illness and what he suspects is the start of a fever. “Please excuse me.”
He walks past the group and ascends the stairs himself, going back to the refuge of his room. He won’t be coming downstairs again today, he thinks. There’s an empty water glass on his dresser and he fills it to the brim, setting it down on the nightstand. With effort, he performs a freshening spell on the bedsheets and changes back into his pyjamas before settling below the quilts.
Shivers run through him, chattering at his teeth and making his muscles ache. He hugs the quilt around himself, closing his eyes tightly and trying to fall back asleep, but he’s too congested and achy. The tightness in his chest rattles and he coughs brutally into the pillow before going limp.
Sleep won’t come this time, even after lying there for almost an hour. He cannot catch his breath and the grip of fever is starting to take hold. He sits up and gulps from the glass, cringing as the water passes down his sore throat. A stack of pillows makes a decent place for him to lean, propped up. He lets his head roll back against the top of the headboard as he stares listlessly at the ceiling. Thank god the moon isn’t for another week, or he’s certain he’d be in big trouble. Things were never good around the moon when he was hyper-emotional or already sick, and now he’s both of those things.
He starts to cough again, heavy and hacking and unrelenting. Just as he’s taking another sip of water and the coughing is dying down, there’s a soft knock at his door.
Fuck off, he wants to shout in the style of Sirius whenever he was in a mood. But Remus never acts like that. He’s the model of control. Instead, he responds “yes?”
The door creaks open and Tonks steps inside. She’s wearing jogger bottoms and a black tank-top with a large cropped t-shirt over it. Her hair, although still brown, looks to have a soft hint of pink.
“Hey,” she says, shutting the door behind her.
He pulls the quilts up self-consciously and rubs his nose, making sure his face is clear of snot.
“Can I stay a bit?” she asks softly.
He isn’t sure what to say to that, so he makes the obvious excuse.
“I think I’ve got the flu,” he croaks.
“I could hear you coughing,” she says, approaching the bed. She extends her hand and before he knows what is happening, his fringe is being pushed back and her small, cool hand is pressed to his brow. She sighs heavily.
“You’re burning up,” she says, lowering her hand to cup his cheek briefly.
He makes a small murmur of agreement.
“So you should probably go,” he says hoarsely.
“I can’t sleep,” she admits meekly. “I….I don’t really want to be alone.”
“I’m sure Charlie would sit with you,” he suggests.
“I want to be with someone who knew him,” she says.
Remus sniffles thickly and scrubs a hand across his weary face.
“I don’t want to pass this on.”
“I’ll take a potion later,” she says. “And you should probably take one now.”
“I can’t,” he says. “I have developed a rather significant intolerance to Pepper-Up over the years. S'what happens when it’s forced on you monthly.”
“Fever reducer, then.”
“Don’t have any,” he replies wearily. “Just let me rest, Dora. It’ll go away.”
The bed dips beside him and he looks up to see she’s climbed in.
“C'mere,” she says, sitting next to him and holding out her arms.
“Tonks,” he says warily. “I-”
“Remus,” she interrupts. “Please. I just….I want to touch someone right now.”
He reluctantly settles against her and she reaches to push his hair out of his face, stroking it back with long, gentle rakes of her fingers. He hasn’t been touched like this in recent memory and it releases a rush of emotions. His mother and Lily swim into his thoughts and his heart aches at the sight of each of them. He sighs heavily with a rattle to his breath and Tonks kisses the top of his head.
The tears threaten to come but he keeps them back, instead sniffling and closing his eyes. Tonks keeps stroking his hair and he can feel himself starting to relax, but his nose won’t allow it. He suddenly pulls away, leaning towards the opposite side of the bed and sneezing thickly.
Hurshh-TSCHHHH!
“Oh Remus,” she says sympathetically.
He shakes his head.
“I am an idiot,” he says as he wipes a wrist under his nose. “I didn’t even ask about you.”
“I’m fine,” she says softly. “They just wanted to make sure there wasn’t any lasting spell damage.”
“And there’s not?” he confirms.
“No. I’m just sore. I’ll be alright.”
He settles his head back against her chest and she resumes stroking his hair. The ache of fever is pulsing in him now and he feels the threat of sleep pulling heavily on his eyelids. Tonks reclines against the headboard, holding him close, and their breathing evens out together as they fall asleep.
The next thing he knows, he’s awake and something cold is touching his face. He opens his eyes slowly, blinking away sleep and trying to get his bearings. Tonks is still there but he’s lying down against the pillows now and she’s at his side, dabbing a flannel across his forehead and cheeks.
He tries to make a sound to ask about what has happened, but she smiles gently at him and seems to know that he cannot get out more than the low groan that issues from his lips.
“I know,” she says. “There’s some fever reducer coming by owl any minutes. You’re running quite the fever. Molly is downstairs putting some soup together for you.”
He winces and closes his eyes, embarrassed by all the attention.
“Here,” she says and he feels her reach to lift his head a little. “Drink.”
A glass of water is tipped to his lips and he drinks it messily, sloshing it across the bedsheets. She remedies it with a quick drying charm and then resumes her routine of pressing the cool cloth to his feverish skin.
“I…I’ll be okay with some more sleep,” he croaks out.
“Bill says you’ve done basically nothing but sleep for the past few days,” she replies. “I know you’re sad; we all are. But you need to take care of yourself.”
“But I-” he begins but then rolls away slightly and turns his nose into the pillow.
“Hhh-ngh'TSCHHT! Tonks, I…Hehh-TSXHT!”
She flicks her wand and summons a fresh handkerchief for him. He takes it gratefully and presses it to his nose.
“Ehh-ngh'GHSHTT! Ugh I ca—ahh-tsgh'GHT!! Ngh'XHT! ‘GHXT! Fuck…it itch—heh'TSGHHT!”
He blows his nose heavily, ending the fit for the time being, and he rubs his reddened nose vigorously.
There’s a tapping at the window and Tonks leaps up.
“That’ll be the potions,” she said, going to open the window. She returned with a paper bag tied with twine. Out of it came three bottles and a small tin of balm.
“For your nose and lips,” she said, handing over the little tin.
“Thanks,” he croaks.
“And Fever-Reducer and Cough-Eaze. Take both of these and I bet you’ll be feeling a lot better.”
She doses out each and Remus swallows them dutifully before he sets about dabbing the cream from the tin onto his chapped nose. The skin there prickles for a moment before setting down and returning to its normal hue.
“Better?” she asks, capping the potions. His body rushes with a cool shiver running down through his veins and it feels a bit like being submerged in a swimming pool on a hot day. The fever is going down for sure. He takes a testing breath and finds he can keep from coughing.
“Yes, better,” he says wearily. “Still don’t feel great.”
“I know,” she says, climbing back onto the bed and curling up behind him and snuggling into his shoulder. “I think it’ll be a while before either of us is back to normal.”
He knows she is talking about Sirius.
“Remus?” she says softly. “Do you….do you want to talk about him?”
Remus doesn’t reply right away. What was there to say that had not been already said? Sirius should not have left Grimmauld in the first place, he should’ve been a more responsible godfather, and if he could’ve only learned to control his rashness then he’d be alive today. And if he’d learned that lesson early on, he might’ve even avoided a life in prison.
“I don’t know,” he says finally and she nods against his back, kissing him at the base of his neck.
“I know, me either,” she says. “It’s not fair.”
Most things aren’t fair. Look at my life, he thinks but he does not say it. It already feels a bit like a pity party and he doesn’t want any part of it.
“I’m sorry you lost him twice,” she continues quietly. “I remember how upset my mum was when it happened…the first time, I mean. I can’t imagine how it was for you.”
Lonely. Terrifying. Painful.
“It was not the best year of my life,” he says, giving perhaps the biggest understatement of his life. He’d nearly died after the November transformation thanks to the wolf’s hyper-charged emotional state and the sudden lack of Animagi companions. He’d been allowed to transform in the Shrieking Shack again for just one full moon so that he’d have someone to look in on him after. It took Madam Pomfrey three days to bring him back to consciousness and another ten days to recover.
“At least now you’re here, with us,” she says, planting another kiss on his neck.
He murmurs a sound of agreement. She’s right. As much as he wants to fall asleep and not think about any of it ever again, the feeling of her arms around him is a great comfort.
Ehh-tshGHXHHT!
And there’s that. He shivers with the outburst of a sneeze and she sighs in sympathy, summoning his handkerchief from the nightstand. He’s very glad for her attention and the potions, which seem to have started to work. He blows his nose and finds the congestion much looser and easier to move. His left nostril clears and he feels a great relief at being able to take at least a partial breath through his nose.
“Any better?” she asks.
He nods and wipes his nose one last time before putting the handkerchief back. Rolling over to face her, he reaches out and wraps his arms around her.
“Thank you,” he says wearily, closing his eyes and resting his head against her shoulder.
The next morning she is gone but he wakes with things feeling just a tiny bit brighter. He gets himself dressed and down to the kitchen to find her at the table. She grins at him and pats the seat next to her. There’s something in her smile that’s so unmistakably Sirius that he momentarily loses track of all other thought and stares at her.
“I’m sorry,” he stammers. “It’s just…I don’t think I ever realized…you smile just like him.”
“Those inbred Black genetics are strong,” she teases before turning more solemn. “But you’re not the first. Mum says the same thing. I don’t really remember him from when I was a kid though. When he was at Hogwarts.”
“Well,” Remus begins, sitting down at the table beside her. “I can tell you that the first time I saw him, he told me to get my, and I quote, 'skinny weird arse out of my way’ so that he could get into a compartment with some less desirable relations of yours. An unexpected Sorting and one week later, I think I saw that grin for the first time when James pulled a prank on the rest of us boys in our dormitory.”
He wanders off into the memories that he hasn’t shared in a very long time. They’re both laughing themselves silly by mid-morning, sharing recollections of Hogwarts. It feels a bit odd, laughing with such abandon so soon after they’ve lost Sirius, but Remus thinks that somehow it’s strangely perfect.
Next to him, Tonks giggles and grins that Black family smile at him. Strangely perfect, indeed.

JUVIA'S POV :
« Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final boarding announcement for the flight MA24. The last passengers are requested to come to the gate 3 immediately. »
It's the third time that the attender's voice is ringing in the speakers of the crowed airport. And I know it's the last time. If I don't go there in a minute, I'll definitely miss my flight. Oh...If only it was easier...
With two security guards on my back and my little stuffs in my hands, it seems impossible.
- " Hey! Stop there! You can't take this stuff on the flight!" A guard shouted as he ran faster to catch me. I risk a glance behind and immediately regretted it. He's so close to me.
I doubled my speed up and narrowly avoided luggage at my left. I ran straight through the mess of people and when I finally came to my destination, I looked over my shoulder to find the guards blocked in the crowd.
I placed my hands on knees as I pant heavily suddenly aware of the tiredness.
- " Juvia Lockser?" An air-host asked, I nodded in response before entering.
I looked at the item in my hands and then behind a last time before grinning triumphantly at the side of the airport.
Once I got seated, I examined carefully the glass bottle in my hands, for which I just had an endless sprint in a freaking airport. My lips curved in a slow smile as I saw the glass sparkling. My smile grew wide when I caught the movement in the bottle.
Fireflies. One of the dazzling creature of the Nature. I love fireflies. The way they shine, it's just fascinating. In 17 years of existence it never ceased to amaze me.
Well. Looks like my endless sprint in an airport is worthwhile.
I will land in Magnolia airport in 5 hours, I swear it'll be the longest hours of my life. Why you ask? It's because I'm going back to my hometown after 14 years. I was born in Magnolia but after the death of my parents, I was under the responsibility of one of my distant uncle who's living in the complete opposite side of Magnolia town.
Today, I'm returning to Magnolia in order enter my dream high school. Fairy Tail Academy. It's known for its teamwork and unity. I like that place, I visited it two years ago when my brother Gajeel Redfox, the adopted son of my uncle entered the same school. Now, he must be in his final year.
Going back to my hometown makes me excited and nervous at the same time, I'm delighted to be back here because it's where my parents met, fell in love and started a new life. But at the same time, it's where they died. I don't remember clearly the happens, I just know that they died in an accident on their 4 year's wedding anniversary.
I hadn't have had much time with them, but I remember my mother's voice when she used to sing for me or my dad when he used to hold me in his arms. I know the feeling even if I can't remember their faces clearly. The last time I came here, It felt so familiar despite the fact that I remember nothing about Magnolia. It felt warm and welcoming.
Plus, the people of Magnolia are extremely sociable. I actually become friends with some of Gajeel's camarades. They all are so friendly and kind. I've spent just a day with them but I got attached to them. It's so nice to have friends like them. I can't wait to see them back. Gajeel told me that he didn't tell everyone the news so it'll be a surprise for them. I can't imagine the girls reaction, especially Erza's.
And also, I got to know that Gajeel is into someone so once I'm there, I'll be able to discover the identity of the mystery girl of his heart. I'm so curious. My brother, the Metalhead, the Gajeel Redfox actually like someone. If it's not a miracle, I don't know what to call it. Though he didn't tell me all this, he doesn't even know that I know. Well, I'll show what happens when he hide something this important to me.  I shook my head with a smile before falling into the slumber.
*********
When I woke up from my deep slumber, I got to know the flight is landing soon. So I was little surprised that I slept literally four hours but I remembered the last tiring days so it's normal—at least that's what I told myself.
Once the flight was landed, I got my luggage and exit the control after several minutes of waiting. And when I was finally out, I searched a tall and a large silhouette with a black mess of hair but instead found a blue haired guy holding a board in which my name is written.
I got a closer of his face as I approached him and when I recognized him, I squealed and jumped in his arms. The board fell off his hands with my luggage, he was stunned a second before lifting me in his arms, giving me a bear hug.
- " Jellal! What are you doing here?" I asked as he released me.
- " Happy to see you again too Juvia." He frowned then smiled.
- " Your lazy brother couldn't get you so I came"  I smiled wide at him and then frowned.
" Hmm...Are you okay with it? Is it not a problem—-" he cut me off before I could finish.
- " Juv, chill out... you're a great friend—no screw it. You're like a sister to me. Why would I be bothered to do something for you? Plus, it's Erza's strict orders. You know how's she right?" I laughed so did he.
- " OK. Let's go, you must be tired." He said as he ruffled my hair and bent to take my luggage.
- " Hey, what's this ?" He asked as he saw the glass bottle.
- " Oh! These are fireflies. They're not shinning now as it's morning but they'll definitely do this night. " I said as I looked at the bottle admirably.
- " How—How on earth did you managed to bring fireflies in a freaking flight? " he looked dumbfounded.
- " It's not a big deal, a sprint around the airport with two dump guards on your back, that's it." I grinned lazily.
- " Whatever you say Juvia Lockser..." he rolled his eyes. I chuckled.
- " Oh and Juv?" He called me as he finished putting my luggage in the car trunk.
- " Hmm?" I looked up from my phone.
- " There's a small party to welcome you this evening so make sure to rest this afternoon because Fairy Tail partying means goodbye peace and welcome craziness! " He said seriously.
- " I love craziness Jellal! " I exclaimed enthusiastically.
- " OK. You're exactly the missing piece of puzzle of our band! C'mon get in! " He laughed.
And here starts the greatest adventure of my life!
