heyy idk if you'd already answered this but is you belong to be going to be tommarry? i feel like it just makes more sense that way but i feel like a little bit of orion and harry would work before the tommarry happens? if that makes sense? also i absolutely love how deaths interacts with harry

ybtm is more pre-tomarry than anything, and largely one-sided. Harry is, and will be for a long time, grieving his relationship with Ginny. He wouldn’t emotionally be capable of being in a relationship with Tom or Orion. Now, on their side of things, there will be crush-like elements to both Tom and Orion, but both flavoured with their unique brands of insanity and chaos 😂

And thank you! Death and Harry are definitely embodying the enemies-to-enemies vibe!

reading tommarry fanfics and love them but GOD Do I HATE harry potter and its dumbfuck worldbuilding it physically pains me- I get so mad I have to pace. Pacing! Like a charatcer getting mad at something dumb and it is!

Like forget the JK drama for a sec and look at how broken, how corned this writing is what is the RULES or even boundries for the magic are!?

Polyjuice potion is SO broken??? Like agh!

Grindlewald. Around ww2 time. Then you have Riddle as a teenager during that time. Toms generation is the grandparents. Then their children is James/muranders time. Then harrys time. Then his children Albus potter.

So get this. In all these generations, from ww2 alllll~ the way down to 21st centuary. Albus Potter took a polyjuice potion infiltrated the Ministry of Magic and kissed Hermione when pretending to be ron [Cursed child. Also ew/ lack of consent- rewriting what ron had been through lazy writing/ hermione a MOTHER kissed a fifteen year old so ew]

But in all this time Polyjuice potion is taught [Hermione brewed one in the girls toilets in the second book] how barty jr was able to enter hogwarts and cause harm to a child [harry to resurect voldemort!]

And not ONCE do they have contingences in place? Make it harder to brew- a charm to idk DETECT polyjuice potion!? And thats just stupid polyjuice potion god dammit. Never mind every OTHER dumbfuck magic bullshit that is so unnescary!

Shit like this just makes it harder to rewatch Harry Potter, like I know the whole terf drama and yes I def still hate HP and stopped because of that but even rewatching my old dvds that I bought back in 2010 was something I could do but now cant.

If people just spoke about how awful the magic system was would make it so much more easier to turn off harry potter. I just...fucking hate how broken polyjuice potion is. My god.

Is your Tommarry fic non con

Nope! There's the inherent problematic element of Tom being the main antagonist of the series, and all the angst and horror that comes with him as a character (I mean, he is the Big Bad, after all), but both Harry and Tom are fully consenting. There's some use of the "oh no we got dosed with truth serum whatever shall we do" trope, but this pretty much entirely ends up with Harry acting like an awkward dork and serves to reluctantly pull humanising moments out of Tom. If anyone wants more info on triggers and content, etc, I'm happy to go into detail.

Tom was frowning harder than he ever had before, and it was for a good reason. His favourite person stood before him. The only person he had ever liked, had just told him the worst news he could ever hear.

‘I’m telling the Headmaster about the Chamber.’

It had been horrifying. Terrible. To think that the person he valued the most, would betray him like this.

“You can’t do this to me, Harry… you promised to stand by me.”

“I promised I would stand by you so long as your actions worked for the benefit of the both of us, Tom. You’ve thrown that enter plan out one of the owlery windows.”

He scoffed. “How so? I am establishing a presence for us so that we can get somewhere once we don’t have Hogwarts to fall back on.”

Harry’s green eyes narrowed in a look that had never been aimed in Tom’s direction before. It made him feel cold.

“Tom, because of you, we aren’t even going to have Hogwarts to fall back on.”

What?

“Multiple attacks supposedly orchestrated by the Heir of Slytherin who warned all enemies to beware. And because people perpetuated an age old bias, they think that means murdering Muggleborns. So Muggleborns keep turning up petrified and it’s taken months to awaken them.”

“A little scare won’t make that big of a deal, Harry.”

Harry’s arms crossed. “Since Slughorn is so inept as a Head of House, I suppose he neglected to inform you that they are considering closing the school?”

Tom’s heart practically choked him and the fear chilled him to the core. No. Slughorn had said nothing of the sort.

Harry plopped down into an armchair that the Room of Requirement had provided. “Dumbledore is pressuring Dippet to close the school, where everyone will be sent back to their places of residence until they can find the Chamber and either eradicate the Heir, or the monster said to live within. Dumbledore made the announcement in the Common Room last night and had everyone pack most of their possessions just in case.”

With the school closed, Tom and Harry would have to go back to the orphanage until it reopened. And if they couldn’t find the Chamber or the Heir, then the school would remain closed.

“Not to mention,” Harry added, “that you’ve pretty much ruined any chance at integrating yourself into society as Lord Slytherin. Because everyone here knows the Heir is around and trying to murder Muggleborns and should you go public with your ancestry, you’ll bring suspicion upon your shoulders and possibly end up in Azkaban. 

“Basically, I sat here waiting for you to pick up on your errors, and you never did. So no, I will not be supporting this any longer, Tom.”

It was hard to acknowledge that Harry was correct. He felt bitter over the fact that he’d lost the support of the only person he found important in the scheme of things, all because he’d been so blinded by his excitement.

“If I stop, will you keep your silence?” he asked, hoping that Harry’s well known mercy was active. “Help me fix this.”

A sideways glance told him that Harry was considering it.

“You have to do me a favour, if I help you fix this.”

“Anything.”

He almost pinched himself for not thinking before answering. He was just so panicked, which was a feeling he wasn’t often exposed to.

“Take me out on a date.”

Tom’s genius response… “What?”

Harry was smiling however. “Take me out on a date and everything will turn out fine. I promise.”
