I think I've finally figured out why I've been so unhappy on here lately.

I've gotten spoiled and used to Discord where when you post a comment or share something, you usually get quick responses. There is a dialogue, a back and forth where you can share ideas and build off of one another. And while I do see that happening sometimes between close mutuals, that's not really how Tumblr works. But I wish it did.

My greatest joy since starting to write and share my work is meeting others doing the same or others in the fandom who want to gush about HCs, story ideas that may or may not ever get written, WIPs, fanart, GIFs, moodboards, etc. I love watching an idea grow and getting to comment along the way. I love watching a random frenzied conversation between multiple people spark an idea that blooms into a fantastic piece of art.

But I guess that's not really how Tumblr works. And if I accept that most people just want to consume content or stay in their own bubble, then maybe I can find that same enjoyment I did when I first made my blog.

I combined footage from my Detektiv Conan Blu-ray with audio from my Case Closed FUNimation DVD and made an HD English dub clip compilation for Episodes 57-58, "The Holmes Freak Murder Case."

(dub)) #(and 'of course not! the reason i applied for this tour was 'cuz i thought i might find kudo' (sub)) #(vs. 'who me? no no no. actually i signed up because i was hoping to run into jimmy here. but i guess i'm out of luck' (dub)) #(and so many more! this script just has so much character) #and while it is a shame that the dub eliminated heiji's accent i do like the changed line ('i know it's you!') #'cause you've met shinichi *once* heiji lol #but yeah this is a fun case! i'm really happy to have finally hd'd the funi dub for it :') #one of my favorite things about the funi dub is that jerry jewell (shinichi's va) voices conan's thoughts #and it's so nice to hear *shinichi* and heiji deducting together (and the way they finish each other's thoughts and vibe... it gets to me)

there's a lot of things people blame for why fandoms feel like ghost towns these days, but no one's really talked about the way discord's contributing to it

I don't know if this is a matter of being older, or of different school cultures, or just of time period, but I have been amused all week trying to connect with classmates remembering how when I started undergrad it was fully common practice to instantly and unthinkingly follow each other on tumblr

If any trans person, regardless of assigned gender, passes, then they are safer than any non-passing or visibly gnc person

It's like these people think trans women are doomed to never ever be able to ever pass. And it's like. Do you guys... actually talk? To other trans people? Are you part of a trans community? Like, not just reblogging or retweeting stuff, but a community where you know people's names and speak to them and they know your name and speak to you? Cause it seems like you have never spoken to another trans person before.

also like. life update. since coming to college i think i've decided i want to be less online in general, because i don't think it benefits my mental health to be on any online website too much. i know i still have strong ties to fandom and whatnot but i'm trying to reconcile my relationship with the things i've created knowing the headspace i was in when that happened; cs is more of a diary to me than anything, at least where i'm at currently. i DO want to be on discord more this break because there's people i want to VC and catch up with-- but ultimately i think i'm like exactly the worst kind of person to operate with any kind of stability on the internet so we're going to mess around with what that looks like for me for a while. love u guys and once finals are officially up in two days i'll be back to say hi :]
