Every once in a while, I decide I need to go back to Sans's sprite and re-decide how I want to draw him, particularly his head shape and eye socket shape. And then I usually go of the rails seeing how I'd tweak things for his variants, which definitely happened this time.
Red and Blue here are kind of just what I use as a default placeholder look for Reds and Blues in general -- they're not the canon designs or from any particular interpretation of their AUs, and that's true of Dust here, too. The Horrors are from two separate Horror AU ideas I'm kicking around, but they're very Halloween Town Horrors: they look kinda scary, but they're not malicious. And then Killer and Error here are pretty much straight lifted from their canon, visually.
The bottom set of four are from @popatochisssp and you can easily read more about them using her Undertale Skeleton's Master Post. Slate and Jasper are from Wave 1, and Ash and Brick are from Wave 2. I really like them, and I think you probably would like them too, if you don't aready :3c But if you're not into Sanses, or these types of Sanses, there are a bunch of Papyri and Swap / Swapfell Sanses you might enjoy! (Edit: fixed so all the colors have the appropriate hex code colors as assigned in their reference post.)

So um I saw the ask about the adopted sibling, so I wanted to ask for the new boys plus love your headcanons
This one, right?
Phew it's been awhile, here goes...
Ash (Undergloom Sans): He’s the absolute best to chill with, whenever you need a calm moment with no expectations on you. He loves talking music with you too, and always keeps his non-existent ears open for stuff he thinks he you might like so he can share it with you later. Be prepared for him to try to convert you to the physical media lifestyle if you’re not already into it, CDs and records and cassettes are the way to go, kiddo!
Yrus (Undergloom Papyrus): You know the joke about grandmas who hear you haven’t eaten and drop everything to rush over and feed you? Well, it’s not really a joke, it’s him, he’ll do it. Not having a home-cooked meal is not an option if he has anything to say about it. Any mention of being hungry or not knowing what you’re going to do for dinner is basically a guarantee that he’s going to be coming by to check on you—either with leftovers in tow, or plans to push past you into your kitchen and get to work.
Brick (Horrorfell Sans): Do you get cold easily? Do you like knitwear? Are you in need of any sweaters or scarves or hats or gloves? Your answer is irrelevant, you’re going to get them, in spades. You also get to share basically anything he’s eating at any time, if you happen to be around, you will get offered a bite or a piece or a sip, whether you ask or not. The sooner you accept your fate, the better.
King (Horrorfell Papyrus): Problems disappear for you. You might not put it together that it’s his doing because he doesn’t go out of his way to draw attention to it, but once you’re in his life, your life starts to feel a bit more charmed. Your stuff hardly ever breaks, you always have what you need when you need it, people are nice to you—and if they’re not, they don’t seem to stay in your orbit long enough for it to matter. He’s a facilitator, and what he wants to facilitate for you is an easy, uncomplicated life. (Just don’t call him on it unless you want to be the annoying little sibling. He is not nice! How dare you imply otherwise... Brat.)
Merc (Horrorswap Sans): He’s a great sounding board for when you don’t know what to do. He doesn’t give advice, per se, but he’s a calm and patient listener, and he has a real knack for guiding you to realize what you want or need. He’s also an open invitation to absolutely anything he’s doing, whether that’s baking or yoga or watching a show. You’re always welcome to join if you want something to do!
Ell (Horrorswap Papyrus): He’s your tech-bro, the guy you bring your stuff to before having to call a professional. He’ll give you a bit of shit for 'breaking' it, what’d you do, what kind of weird sites were you on, huh? But in spite of his grumping, he always does his best to fix your problem and set you up for success later. Just show a little gratitude, pay him in chocolate, or coffee, or watching that horror movie with him that no one else wants to, yeah?
Pitch (Horrrorswapfell Sans): He’s the one you want if you’re looking for a fun time. All that stuff you need to get permission for or no one ever let you do because you’re too young or inexperienced? He’s the one to make it happen—you’ve gotta get the experience somehow, don’t you? He can get you into parties, movies, whatever you want to do, really. He’s definitely gonna be the one to take you for your first tattoo, first piercing, first drink (provided you want any of those, of course)… You only live once and there’s no better time to start than when you’re young and the world is your oyster!
Nemo (Horrorswapfell Papyrus): What’s his is yours. If there’s something he has that you like or want for yourself, go ahead, take it , he doesn’t need it—or if he does, he can get a new one. Clothes, trinkets, food, essentials, if he has it you can help yourself to it, no questions asked. The only thing he cares about is that you're happy and taken care of.
Sunny (Gastertale Sans): Do you need a ride? Will you need a ride? When will you need a ride? He’s there whenever, any time night or day if you gotta get somewhere and don’t want to (or can’t) drive. But hey, if you want to learn how to drive, he’d love to teach you! He’s chill and easygoing so he’s probably the least likely to stress you out while you’re learning…and if you do manage to ding his bumper or scrape the curb a little, hey, it happens, that’s why you’re practicing, y’know?
Aster (Gastertale Papyrus): Documentarian of all your special moments, taking pictures of, for, and with you, recording videos, saving any and all physical scraps of paper with your name or accomplishments listed on them that he can get his hands on. He’s proud of you and all the things you do, of course there ought to be a record of it all—for posterity! …And for him. …And for you, in case you ever forget any of the cool things you’ve done!
Spectr (Transcendtale Sans): He’s just kind of always around. Usually as a hooded figure lurking in the distance, but occasionally falling into step with you when you’re walking somewhere alone, or sliding into the seat beside you on public transit. He’s not always much for conversation but he likes being around if you need him, or at least keeping you from being all the way alone.
PapAIrus (Transcendtale Papyrus): A near-constant source of messages and appearances throughout your day. He’s always happy to entertain you if you want someone to talk to, but especially if you happen to be bored (the horror!). He’s got a knack for knowing when you need a diversion or an amusement and he’s sure to pop up on one screen or another to give it to you when you need him the most.
Xanth (Ascendswap Sans): He loves to shower you in presents pretty much whenever he sees you. Never anything expensive or even necessary, mostly just bizarre little tchotchkes—bracelets, pendants, bobbles and baubles—seemingly random items that ‘had your vibe’ or felt like they’d be ‘on your wavelength.’ Annoyingly enough, he’s never wrong, no matter how weird the gift, it’s always right up your alley and he loves bringing a smile to your face with his random finds.
Piper (Ascendswap Papyrus): If you didn’t want to have your own personal stylist…well sorry, maybe you shouldn’t have gotten adopted by proxy by somebody who wants you to look and feel your best, I guess? He likes to take you shopping for things and offer his advice and opinions, and if you’ll let him, maybe steer you towards a few things here and there that you wouldn’t have thought to try. Don’t worry about the cost of anything, if there’s a deal to be had, he’ll get it one way or another…
Carmine (Underfell Fruition Sans): The best wingman ever, he’s always down to be there for you when you need a little confidence boost, too shy or nervous to do something all by yourself. If you need a hype up before asking someone out, somebody to go to XYZ with so you’re not the odd one out, even just somebody to go see a movie with, the answer’s always the same—sounds great, what time? He’ll never let you down and never leave you hanging.
Tank (Underfell Fruition Papyrus): He's like having a bodyguard whenever you need one. And really, who wouldn’t want to have a big tough guy willing to follow them around and do whatever they want him to do? He’s great at that, being a strong silent presence for you whether you need a little intimidation or just someone to get something off a high shelf for you—y’know, typical scary tall guy stuff. But if you’re looking for some quiet quality time, he’s good for that too, happy to parallel play anytime!
Vi (Swapfell Fruition Sans): He’s good at keeping you on track and making sure all your important documents are in order. He knows your schedule almost down to the minute and tends to text you about anything that might interrupt your routine before it becomes a problem, and you don’t even have to ask him to take a look at your financials or help you with taxes—he’s already combed through the figures and pounced on every little discrepancy and rounding error he could find. You’re welcome, by the way.
Hunter (Swapfell Fruition Papyrus): You don’t get out enough. You’re coming out with him. Yes, outside. No, you don’t have a choice, he’ll drag you if you don’t go willingly, being inside 24/7 is terrible for you he would know. Don’t worry, it won’t be so bad, he can probably find you something cool to see, some animal tracks or a neat plant, maybe a stream. He’ll make sure you get back home in one piece and everything too, alive even, maybe. He just wants to share a little time and fresh air with you, and being cooped up indoors all the time is no fun, even if you’re used to it.
Kohl (Descendtale Sans): He…hassles you. He sneaks up on you when your guard is down, shows up in unexpected places to spook you, makes jokes at your expense… It’s nothing worse than teasing, really, and compared to how he is with most everyone else, his pestering tends to read as playful more than anything else. Still, if you’re looking for a sweet, helpful big brother…look elsewhere. He’s the bastard big brother that you’ve begrudgingly grown fond of, and you’re the irritating little sib that he’s forced to admit is growing on him, a little…much like a fungus might.
Bram (Descendtale Papyrus): He calls at least once a day if he doesn’t see you, and sometimes even then. He’s always trying to check in on you to see if you need anything, make sure you’re doing alright, and oh, of course if you’d like to do anything today, or maybe later in the week? It may be a little a lot overeager of him, but he cares about you and doesn’t ever want to lose touch! So please text him back so he knows you got home safe, he’ll worry if you’re radio silent too long!

Well stars heck it all the stellar @popatochisssp went and made a wonderful AU called Undergloom, and post-true-pacifist best ending UG Papyrus (aka Yrus) ends up becoming a cultural anthropology professor and if that isn’t a weakspot...
Couldn’t help but think about a reader-insert situation where another professor in the humanities is a late-night researcher & regular in the same wing of the sprawling university library that Yrus frequents. Of course they become friends- and a few months later, cue catching Yrus dozing off over some lesson planning & essay grading. To the rescue comes a certain new friend & fellow nerdy professor with an in that can nudge him awake and sneak him some coffee.
Who knows, maybe they end up having late night grading sessions at one another’s apartments, complete with homemade snacks and becoming best friends with his brother too, who helpfully keeps them awake with friendship well-timed trombone solos, probably. >:3c
(I’m a sucker for old anime/cartoon VHS vibes, couldn’t help but picture it all in a warm-toned, grainy, hurt-comfort short run animated series, what can I say...)

Sweet Treat
A fic based on the wonderful @popatochisssp's Undergloom AU, because her Sans and Papyrus deserve all the love. Today, that love comes in the form of a reader who decides to do something special for her datemates. Enjoy!
I just want to say a big thank you to @silverryu25 for beta reading this, I really appreciate it sweetheart!
There are no warnings, this fic is just sweetness and love.
Ao3 link: https://archiveofourown.org/works/22233220
You weren't that great of a cook. Sure, you had a few simple recipes you could easily execute, but you still had to watch things closely to make sure they didn't burn. Yrus was definitely the better chef out of the two of you, and he would happily help you try out a new recipe.
Unfortunately, he wasn't actually here right now. He’d texted you thirty minutes ago that he was still on campus, and you could bet money that he was consoling another crying student. He was a sweetheart, but he'd really been burning the candle at both ends lately. Apparently once a professor got a reputation for being good at comforting, students from all departments would flood in for a good listening ear. You were glad to see him helping so many people, but you could sense the tiredness under his relentless cheer.
Of course, as his datemate, it was your duty to cheer him up! Hot chocolate wasn't his favourite thing in the world, but it fit the season and was—allegedly—pretty easy to make from scratch. This blog’s recipe seemed particularly delicious, and the amount of culinary skill required didn’t seem out of your league.
So, here you were. Attempting to finely whisk some dark chocolate into warm milk so it would properly dissolve and make it “scrumptiously decadent”. The heat from the stove washed over your face, but you persisted. Each turn of the whisk made your wrist click, but it would all be worth it. The chocolate did smell amazing, and watching it slowly dissolve was strangely satisfying.
After what felt like an eternity bent over, it seemed like you’d finally mixed all the chocolate in. The liquid had more of a thicker soupy texture than you’d been expecting, but it looked delicious. You were too tired to rustle up a fresh batch of whipped cream to enjoy with the cocoa, so canned whip and mini marshmallows would have to be good enough.
You were tempted to dip a finger in, but you forced yourself to wait. This was a surprise for both of your datemates, and you wanted to enjoy this with them. You leaned against the counter, taking a deep breath. Even if the kitchen wasn't your area of expertise, seeing your work still brought a small sense of accomplishment.
You tilted your head, listening for any signs of your other datemate. Ash was upstairs catching a nap, but you were confident that the smell of melted chocolate to lure him down soon enough. Winter could bring out the seasonal blues in anyone, but it seemed to hit him harder than most. Sleeping was probably a good start, but a warm drink could help perk him up a little.
However, you had a little more than that in store. You went over to the fridge, pulling out the bag of pastries you’d stashed there earlier. Soon two large raisin danishes and six walnut scones placed on a tray, along with one of your favourite sweets. You set the oven to the minimum temperature, just enough to keep the pastries warm without burning or drying them out. All of them came from a cute cafe near your work that all three of you were fond of, and you were certain that they were miles better than anything you could whip up in the time since you came home from work.
The front door opened and closed, Yrus’ signature ‘I’m ho-ome!’ ringing out. You turned around, happily holding out your arms as he came into the kitchen. Your skeletal sweetheart scooped you up into an embrace, holding you tightly. You hugged him back, giggling when he kissed your forehead with an exaggerated ‘mwah’. Stars, he was just too cute. You hoped he would enjoy this, you just wanted to make him happy.
“what’s all this?” Ash drawled, leaning against the doorframe.
“A surprise for my datemates?” You slipped out of Yrus’ embrace, walking over and giving Ash a kiss. He leaned into you subtly, showing in his own way that he was happy to see you.
“You are the best surprise we could ever ask for, my dear!” Yrus, ever the gentlemonster, takes your hand and kisses the back of it. “However, I will not refuse your delicious offering.”
Ash takes his seat at the table as the two of you work, in sync as you pull down plates from the cabinets and dish up the treats. Soon there are three cups overflowing with mini marshmallows, with a few extra teaspoons of peanut butter added in one for Ash. Even if you and Yrus had to maneuver around each other a bit, it feels better this way. After all of the time Yrus spent in it with you, the kitchen felt too big and empty by itself.
Yrus helped you carry the plates and mugs over to the table, even pulling out your chair for you. You gave him a kiss on the cheek for his efforts, and placed Ash’s food in front of him. He looked up at you, his gentle gaze making your heart flutter.
As you sat down to enjoy some hot cocoa with your datemates, you can’t help but feel lucky to be here. Hope is difficult to have, but you’re so glad these two incredible skeletons made it out of the Underground and into your life. They make your day so much sweeter, and you can only hope to return the favour.

Would it be too much to ask what kind of jobs the new skeles might have since you already shared bram would be a groundskeeper at a cemetery?
Looks like I never officially did this one for Wave 2, just Wave 1 over here.
So, while we’re at it, let's do 2 and 3!
Ash (Undergloom Sans): He’s semi-unemployed, or self-employed depending on how you look at it. He busks, playing his trombone out on the street and accepting donations from anyone who feels so inclined. He likes playing music and the idea of brightening peoples’ days in the middle of their commute, so the money doesn’t really matter to him. Sometimes he picks up small gigs at local venues, mostly by word of mouth, and eventually he breaks into the tutoring scene—teaching his favorite instrument to young aspiring musicians who find the same joy in it that he does.
Yrus (Undergloom Papyrus): He works as a professor at the local community college, teaching anthropology. He’s passionate about the subject and can’t think of anything he’d rather do than share it with a classroom of humans who probably have no idea how interesting they really are. If only one student walked away from his class with a new appreciation for what humanity’s all about then he’s fulfilled—but he tends to send a lot more away with that than just one, since he’s a very popular, friendly, and accessible teacher.
Brick (Horrorfell Sans): He’s self-employed, knitting blankets at home and selling them online. He doesn’t need a job at all, between the Queen and his brother, money’s not an issue, but he’d go crazy if he didn’t have something to do all day, and nobody wants to see what he looks like when he goes crazy. He takes commissions often, but other times he just makes things according to whatever he’s feeling and what color yarn he has handy and sells to whoever feels like buying it.
King (Horrorfell Papyrus): He works as a physical therapist. He more or less taught himself to walk again after losing his leg, and a second time after getting a replacement, so he very personally understands the need that exists for people who are injured and want to get back to their normal life—but maybe lack the discipline, the knowledge, or the tools to take that journey solo. He’s hard on his patients and sadistically merciless, but his success rate in terms of mobility recovered is very high and any complaints after the fact are begrudging at worst.
Merc (Horrorswap Sans): He’s a home baker, making cakes and small pastries for a small but growing client base. He likes the freedom of getting to pursue his passions seriously and to be his own boss, set his own hours, screen his own clients, et cetera. He puts a lot of time and care into what he makes, both in terms of flavor and decoration, and finds nothing quite so satisfying as a repeat customer or a glowing review and recommendation to someone new.
Ell (Horrorswap Papyrus): Freelance programming is what he does for cash. It was something he could both learn how to do and actually do remotely, without the need for more than the bare minimum of in-person contact. He likes problem-solving, and complaining about the problem-solving, and the field is pretty much always in demand so if he’s bored of certain kinds of jobs, or sick of the person giving him the jobs, he can jump ship at any time and be a contractor someplace else.
Pitch (Horrorswapfell Sans): He’s a boxer, more amateur than pro so he doesn’t make a ton doing it, at least not consistently, but he likes fighting and draws in a decent crowd by being a bit of a spectacle (a blind skeleton in the ring) so the entertainment value is worth something. Aside from that, eventually, he fills in for his brother as a combination business partner/agent/accountant, helping him get jobs and keep clients and manage the money he makes doing so.
Nemo (Horrorswapfell Papyrus): He’s unemployed for a long while, but ultimately breaks into professional photography, with a specialty in travel photographs. He likes taking pictures and getting to see the world in the process, and it helps that it’s a family business so he and his brother have pretty much full control over what jobs he takes and for how much. He doesn’t really concern himself with the money numbers, though, he just likes filling out his portfolio with gorgeous locales all around the world.
Sunny (Gastertale Sans): He does a lot of odd jobs, all over the place, generally (things that are considered) unskilled labor—bussing tables, janitorial work, desk clerking, that kind of thing. He doesn’t like the thought of getting too stuck into any one thing and being unable to try something else out later if it doesn’t work out, and there’s something to be said for the satisfaction of being closely connected to the results of your labor. Sometime down the line he will end up sticking in one career, as a dealer for a casino, because it combines his social, charming nature with his sharp eye and quick hands, but until then he’s happy to bounce around.
Aster (Gastertale Papyrus): He’s a bookkeeper at a nondescript company. He’s organized and thorough with record-keeping and double-checking data, and he likes putting those skills to use to make sure his employer’s finances and transactions all balance out at the end of the day. Some might find it boring work and he could almost certainly qualify for a much more ‘prestigious’ job doing something else, but he’s satisfied having a job that doesn’t require all of his effort and brainpower, so he can save some of that for his personal life and private interests.
Spectr (Transcendtale Sans): He’s a nomad, a wanderer, he has no job. He’s a robot in the shape of a monster—ostensibly still a monster, even so—in a world full of humans that as yet believe monsters don’t exist, so even if he wanted a job, getting one would be logistically difficult. Luckily, he feels no special need to be gainfully employed and just spends his time wandering around and taking in the world. If he needs something, he’ll either just take it or use one of his brother’s accounts to pay for it.
PapAIrus (Transcendtale Papyrus): He’s a performer, a disc jockey who mixes, makes, and plays music to crowds at clubs, raves, and discos, anywhere he’s welcome. He takes advantage of the perception of his holographic form as an artist’s gimmick, like Daft Punk, Hatsune Miku, dead musicians projected onto stages to play posthumously… In his defense, that last one is sort of exactly what he is, except he didn’t really start making music until after he died. Still, he has fun doing it and adores the fame he’s steadily gaining as a popular, cutting-edge technology music act.
Xanth (Ascendswap Sans): He does aura readings for people. For those interested to know, he shares his perception of their colors and the flow of energy in and around them, and just generally describes the sense he gets about a person. What he does is really more of a soul read than an aura read, so a lot of the color meanings and terminology he uses contrast with the kind of readings his clients may get from humans who practice something a little bit different. Still, he’s earnest in his desire to help people understand themselves and their energies and emotions, so he gets a lot of recommendations and repeat clientele who trust he’s the real deal.
Piper (Ascendswap Papyrus): He works as an event planner, organizing gatherings, arranging vendors, booking venues, the whole nine. He has a great reputation for making things go smoothly and always seems to be able to talk out bumps and snags before they ever become a major problem. He also maintains great relationships with people in the industry and delights in having connections just about everywhere in case he needs to call on a favor to make something happen for a client. He's got the magic touch and the silver (gold) tongue that makes everything fall into place just so.
Carmine (Underfell Fruition Sans): He works as a clerk at a pawn shop. He gets to handle a lot of interesting items and assess roughly how much they’d be worth, and he’s pretty good at haggling and negotiating with people who might not agree with said assessments. Sometimes people will come in with broken stuff they wouldn’t be able to get too much for, but maybe he can cut ‘em a deal, fix it up on his own dime and if they come back for it, great—and if they don’t, his boss’ll be happy to have something that works to sell to somebody else at a markup, how ‘bout it? He does a brisk business and both sides of the counter love him.
Tank (Underfell Fruition Papyrus): He’s in construction. He’s huge, strong, takes direction well, and diligently follows rules and protocols—he’s an ideal fit for it. He likes to work hard and be able to see a job come together, knowing he had a part in it and being satisfied with the quality of his contribution. He especially likes to take every safety training and equipment certification course he can attend because he likes knowing what the rules are and being specifically told how certain procedures are run, machines operated, et cetera. He’s very likely to be apprenticed in as a foreman if not the inheritor someday of the construction business by its current owner for his work ethic and dedication, but that’ll be a long ways from now.
Vi (Swapfell Fruition Sans): He works as an independent auditor and combs through companies’ records, internal and external documentation, processes, and accounting and ensures everything is being done in accordance with industry standards. In short, he shows up, demands to see everything they have, and looks through it to see if they’ve lied, did something wrong, or lost information they weren’t supposed to. Sometimes he can do this remotely but other times he has to travel out to a physical office somewhere and sit down with a bunch of stuffed file cabinets, and he really doesn’t mind either way. He likes the work and he’s good at it—maybe because he’s good at it—and he finds it satisfying to catch the tiniest little misses and errors to demand an accounting of them.
Hunter (Swapfell Fruition Papyrus): He’s a trail maintenance worker for Ebott National Park. He walks the paths and hiking trails and makes sure they’re safe and unobstructed for visitors, as well as whatever odd jobs in the area that happen to come up—looking out for invasive species, helping with a bench install, directing lost tourists, that kinda thing. It’s not especially glamorous work but it’s pretty much exactly where he wants to be and he’s happy to do it, probably wouldn’t pick any other job in the world…except maybe to volunteer for a seasonal fire-watch position and do pretty much the exact same thing, but more isolated and with a big cool tower to sit in.
Kohl (Descendtale Sans): He works as a mortician at a local funeral home. He generally isn’t expected (read: allowed) to deal with grieving families, that’s more the funeral director’s purview, but he works behind the scenes embalming, processing, and otherwise preparing the dead for their final party and last ride home. He has a strong stomach—or rather, no stomach at all—and doesn’t get squeamish or emotional about the dead, so that works out. They also let him work nights so he has several long, quiet hours of methodically going through the routine with no (living) humans around to irritate him or vice-versa. Sounds like a good gig to him.
Bram (Descendtale Papyrus): Yes, still a groundskeeper for the cemetery and loving it. It was something he kind of fell into through his brother, when he didn’t really know what he wanted to do on the Surface, but his brother sends dead humans off to their final resting place and said final resting place was looking for someone to dig holes, mind the grass, keep everything looking neat and nice—and that’s certainly something he can do! He also works nights, being that monsters are almost entirely nocturnal these days, so he’s also an unintentional scarecrow deterrent to teenagers sneaking in late for partying or spooky dares when they see a slim, bony silhouette materialize out of the shadows with a shovel in hand, asking if they’re just visiting or thinking about moving in.…

hey, poppy! i have a question: how much do the skeletons know about humanity by the time they surface? just in general—things like anatomy and physiology; language and culture; sex and sexuality, etc. they clearly get at least some pop culture stuff underground, but in dirty laundry you wrote rus not knowing what it was when the reader's stomach growled and i loved that little detail, so... just how clueless (and "clueful", too, i guess lmfao) are the skeletons about human stuff?
It varies!
You’re right that most of their knowledge about humans and things that go on for them up on the surface are mostly learned or inferred from pop-culture that happened to fall down—there’s a lot of random chance involved in that, and even more, things about the human experience that don’t get written about or depicted in media very much, if at all, so this is obviously not a complete education on the culture and functioning of humanity.
Some things are included, and some get left out—and some can be discovered if the skeleton in question has a significant enough personal interest in humans to dig deeper into their garbage and be exposed to more information about them.
But even then, there’s also a big difference between knowing (or reading once) that humans have an organ that circulates liquid through their body, and actually hearing the sound that makes from a human’s chest and feeling the thump.
Anyway, that’s a lot just to say that how much they know about humans is pretty scattered and varies a bit skeleton to skeleton, so…
Pretty knowledgeable about many human things, might only rarely be caught by surprise: Sky (Underswap Sans), Paps (Underswap Papyrus), Mal (Swapfell Sans), Papy (Horrortale Papyrus), Yrus (Undergloom Papyrus), King (Horrorfell Papyrus), Merc (Horrorswap Sans), Ell (Horrorswap Papyrus), Pitch (Horrorswapfell Sans), Aster (Gastertale Papyrus), Xanth (Ascendswap Sans), Piper (Ascendswap Papyrus), Vi (Swapfell Fruition Sans), Kohl (Descendtale Sans)
Average knowledge of how humans work, a little fuzzy on the nuances but he’s mostly got the gist of it, probably: Sans (Undertale), Jasper (Underfell Sans), Slate (Horrortale Sans), Ash (Undergloom Sans), Brick (Horrorfell Sans), Nemo (Horrorswapfell Papyrus), Spectr (Transcendtale Sans), PapAIrus (Transcendtale Papyrus), Hunter (Swapfell Fruition Papyrus)
Pretty much clueless, has figured out most of the basics but in for lots of surprises as he figures out the rest: Papyrus (Undertale), Pyre (Underfell Papyrus), Rus (Swapfell Papyrus), Sunny (Gastertale Sans), Carmine (Underfell Fruition Sans), Tank (Underfell Fruition Papyrus), Bram (Descendtale Papyrus)

GAH!!! I’ve had this question on my mind for so long, but do the boys have any particular tastes when it comes to interior design? Minimal, eclectic, etc… whatever boys you want to choose! Thank you!!!
This was interesting, I had to go on a bit of adventure through interior décor styles because I’m not too familiar with all the terms, but I definitely had fun~
Forgive any misuse of interior design words below, I am not an expert! XD
(Featuring many images stolen from Google)
Sans (Undertale): Sort of a revival post-modernist, not quite as loud as the original post-modern look in terms of colors, but still a mix-and-match of shapes and materials, spacious areas, not afraid of décor or accenting a space with unique pieces that don’t perfectly coordinate with the others. Comfort and space over rigid adherence to an aesthetic.
Tumblr media
Papyrus (Undertale): Memphis style designs really capture his imagination, lots of shapes and bold, bright colors, circles and checkerboards and zig-zags. It’s fun, he likes fun things! Abstractly-shaped furniture and weird objets d’art—could use some more stuff with cool flame-patterns, or maybe some spikes here and there, but he can experiment to get the right balance in there!
Tumblr media
Sky (Underswap Sans): Into modern styles, mostly, he does like the minimalist look but absolutely goes in for strategic splashes of color to brighten things up. Sleek shapes and clean lines are great, but absolutely must be offset by some rich lively colors for an open, welcome feel, can’t let it feel too sterile.
Tumblr media
Paps (Underswap Papyrus): Favors sort of a regence look, tends toward curving lines and intricate elegance in the little details. Chair arms that swirl, fleurs in the carving of a cabinet, decorative patterns and motifs to tie everything together as a cohesive whole. He finds the charming elegance comfortable and easy to settle into.
Tumblr media
Jasper (Underfell Sans): Definitely more of an artisan/arts and crafts style kind of guy, cares less about the Look of things than he does the craftsmanship of it—he wants things to be well-made and able to stand up to consistent use, so most of what he favors are sturdy pieces and designs without ostentation or elaborate details. It may not be the prettiest, but it is homey and comfortable and ready to be actually lived in.
Tumblr media
Pyre (Underfell Papyrus): Empire style, he is all about the ostentation and elaborate details, silk and velvet, ebony and gold, it has to be bold and artful and dramatic (just like he is). If something’s a little too plain and simple, he’ll pass on it or find a way to dress it up prettier.
Tumblr media
Mal (Swapfell Sans): Contemporary design is more his thing, sleek lines and sharp angles, with a strong aesthetic preference for more industrial materials (glass, metal, marble, etc). Tends to avoid most color, sticking with black and white, and just a few decorative objects here and there to draw the eye. He likes the clean look over a more comfortable, lived-in one.
Tumblr media
Rus (Swapfell Papyrus): Big fan of art nouveau, swirling lines and curving forms. Stained glass lamps, art, and windows are big hit with him, as well as wrought iron railings or table frames and the like. He likes colors and things that feel like they flow, mostly, and any intricate detail-work that catches the eye.
Tumblr media
Slate (Horrortale Sans): Cottage style is more his speed, a little rustic and a lot cozy, with a special emphasis on plush furniture. He’s all about the comfort and the homey feel, nothing pristine that an accident or a bit of wear-and-tear will ruin quickly.
Tumblr media
Papy (Horrortale Papyrus): More of an English country sort of guy, big on patterns and florals, but also into a bit of delicacy and charm—some more ornate accent chairs here, decorative curtains there, unique antiques and plants everywhere. Definitely cozy and comfortable but done in a very thoughtful and deliberate way.
Tumblr media
Ash (Undergloom Sans): Clutterbitch—wait no, I mean maximalist. He likes having a lot of stuff and putting it on display, and bright colors (especially turquoise!) make him happy to look at, so he’s drawn to that kind of thing when customizing a space. Lots of knickknacks and prints related to his hobbies, maybe a novelty end table or two, shaped like a record or a cloud or something. A bit chaotic but he probably knows where everything in it is, so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Tumblr media
Yrus (Undergloom Papyrus): He goes for a bit of a modern farmhouse look, soft neutrals with warmer rustic touches. Likely to spruce it up a little further with some bright yellows and greens, but mostly in the accents—flowers, artwork, et cetera. Also likely to decorate with lots of candles and mason jars and anything he comes back with from the home goods store, because he is very passionate about the home goods store.
Tumblr media
Brick (Horrorfell Sans): Tends toward Tuscan style, warm tones, wood and tile and wrought iron, sturdy and well-crafted furniture. Not opposed to some intricate designs here and there, but not that intricate, just enough to look a little nice. Maybe a bit nicer than the absolute basics, but he’s not trying to impress anybody, he just wants cozy and comfortable, and maybe he’s earned the right to a tiny bit of fance here and there, y’know?
Tumblr media
King (Horrorfell Papyrus): Something of a traditionalist, with a strong appreciation for clean, elegant, and cohesive styles. The classics never go out of fashion—dark wood, damask patterns, ornate detailing, maybe some fine red drapery and a chandelier or two, but nothing too ostentatious. Less is more, but no need to go full minimalist to show your class, after all.
Tumblr media
Merc (Horrorswap Sans): Definitely about the shabby chic, clean and simplistic styles but with a touch of wear or softness to keep it inviting. Not a sterile space that can’t be lived in, but still a bit neat and thoughtfully arranged!
Tumblr media
Ell (Horrorswap Papyrus): More a fan of the urban look, exposed brick and beams but some softening elements incorporated too, like abstractly shaped furniture and décor, and lots of lighting. More minimalist than cluttered and probably not a huge fan of rugs, but he definitely wants a good balance between hard and rough, and soft and wavy aesthetics.
Tumblr media
Pitch (Horrorswapfell Sans): He can’t actually see it, but tends to favor Mediterranean styles. He likes a lot of sunlight, open floor plans, and wide doorways, and he’s a little less picky about his furniture but anything with ornate designs and detailing that he can physically feel to appreciate is a bonus. Function over form, though, comfort and utility is always foremost in his consideration.
Tumblr media
Nemo (Horrorswapfell Papyrus): Fond of mission style, slatted wooden furniture, simple and clean designs and only a couple accent colors that work well with them—autumnals are a favorite. Some nature-inspired touches like plants, artwork, and other accents to bring a little of the outdoors in, but not so much as to be cluttered.
Tumblr media
Sunny (Gastertale Sans): Mid-century modern, for the most part, uniquely shaped items to stand as conversation pieces, but still primarily designed for utility. A little off-beat and retro, but still a homey and comfortable place to chill in.
Tumblr media
Aster (Gastertale Papyrus): Big into art deco, metal and glass, geometric patterns and angular designs with bold, rich colors. He finds it to have a very fun and classy feel and likes things that make a statement—so he’s likely to incorporate a lot of centerpieces and décor wherever he can to draw the eye.
Tumblr media
Spectr (Transcendtale Sans): Full-on industrial, brick and metal and hardwood, ideally with open and lofted spaces. It’s kind of what he’s gotten used to and gained an appreciation for along the way, so it may not be the most innately homey-feeling place, but he’s comfortable in it. Likely to accent the space with art—wall or sculpture—rather than rugs or blankets.
Tumblr media
PapAIrus (Transcendtale Papyrus): He’s a minimalist. He doesn’t actually have a physical body most of the time, so his taste in decorating a space tends to prioritize aesthetic over what it would be like to actually live in it. Still, he is fond of aesthetics so he’s sure to pick out at least a few interesting and attractive centerpieces—light fixtures, table décor, an accent pillow, something—to make it a little prettier.
Tumblr media
Xanth (Ascendswap Sans): Sort of an eclectic/boho thing going on, lots of color and design and pretty much anything fun that catches his eye-socket. He’s very into crystals and wall hangings and art (or plants!) that can be strung up to dangle from the ceiling, so any space he’s involved in decorating is bound to look a little messy, but it’s comfortable and fun so it works out in the end!
Tumblr media
Piper (Ascendswap Papyrus): Give him that Hollywood glam, glossy high-shine surfaces—glass, gold, mirrors—mixed with soft velvets and satins. Mostly black and white but with a prominent accent color or two to really make the eleganza pop, he’s decorating to impress and show off his taste in design.
Tumblr media
Carmine (Underfell Fruition Sans): Ends up falling into a bit of a steampunk style in terms of décor, lots of metal and lighting, plenty of stuffed shelves, and clockwork junk and tools lying around. He certainly has nothing against brass and leather either so y’know, if that’s what you wanna call it, there it is.
Tumblr media
Tank (Underfell Fruition Papyrus): Country house design is more his speed, very fond of gingham and natural light and an overall homey feel. It’s not what he’s used to, per se, but that’s kind of…better. He likes light and open spaces, big tables for activities and soft furniture for sitting, but nothing so clean and new that it doesn’t feel like it’s meant to be used.
Tumblr media
Vi (Swapfell Fruition Sans): International/modernist is mostly what he goes for, emphasis on steel and glass and concrete, and sharp minimalist lines. If he’s going to splurge on any patterns or color, it’ll only be in a few select pieces, nothing too outrageous.
Tumblr media
Hunter (Swapfell Fruition Papyrus): He prefers a bit of a rustic look to things, with a high preference for natural materials, like stone and wood. Lofts are cool, as are sturdy shelving and exposed beams, but he’s especially into a good view, so if there’s high windows or just a lot of them, he’ll be happy.
Tumblr media
Kohl (Descendtale Sans): Tends toward a dark romance style, deep rich (but of course, dark) colors, soft lighting, and graceful, sometimes ornate lines. Not one to overclutter with décor and accents, mostly simplistic, but a few items here and there—quilts and dried flowers and overstuffed pillows.
Tumblr media
Bram (Descendtale Papyrus): Whimsigoth, a fondness for the ornate and intricate and elegant, but a tendency towards eclectic amounts of décor—wall hangings, candles, bones, and books all artfully arranged. Very into patterned furniture with texture, from the pattern being either pressed or stitched into the fabric. A little messy at first glance but he’s actually very deliberate with his arrangements for the most balanced look.

which boys would be most excited to go and see an opera? I see Pyre being down, but would anyone else really enjoy this art form?
Delighted to go, this will probably be the highlight of his evening: Pyre (Underfell Papyrus), Mal (Swapfell Sans), King (Horrorfell Papyrus), Aster (Gastertale Papyrus), Piper (Ascendswap Papyrus), Bram (Descendtale Papyrus)
Could be fun, happy to go along: Papyrus (Undertale), Paps (Underswap Papyrus), Papy (Horrortale Papyrus), Ash (Undergloom Sans), Yrus (Undergloom Papyrus), Pitch (Horrorswapfell Sans), Sunny (Gastertale Sans), Xanth (Ascendswap Sans)
Doesn’t really GET it… but he’ll go with you and give it a chance anyway: Sky (Underswap Sans), Rus (Swapfell Papyrus), Slate (Horrortale Sans), Merc (Horrorswap Sans), Spectr (Transcendtale Sans), Carmine (Underfell Fruition Sans), Tank (Underfell Fruition Papyrus), Vi (Swapfell Fruition Sans), Kohl (Descendtale Sans)
Eh, not really his thing, would prefer to do something else: Sans (Undertale), Jasper (Underfell Sans), Brick (Horrorfell Sans), Ell (Horrorswap Papyrus), Nemo (Horrorswapfell Papyrus), PapAIrus (Transcendtale Papyrus), Hunter (Swapfell Fruition Papyrus)
Sans (Undertale): He’s not much for the arts, no disrespect to the artists and performers but…pearls before swine, y’know? It’s all a little wasted on him, maybe better to find something else to drag him to.
Papyrus (Undertale): Not an opera fan in particular, but he can certainly appreciate a good theatrical performance of most any kind, he’ll happily accompany you!
Sky (Underswap Sans): It’s not that he has anything against it, necessarily, but wholly sedentary activities aren’t his favorite, and he doesn’t really have a pre-existing interest in opera either. Still, he is open to trying new things, so he’ll at least go to give it a shot!
Paps (Underswap Papyrus): A great lover of story and drama, not especially familiar with the musical aspect but he’s very excited for the chance to check it out. Just…trying to play it cool and not seem like too much of a dork about how excited, exactly, he is.
Jasper (Underfell Sans): There’s basically nothing about this that appeals to him. You can make him go, but best case scenario is he falls asleep halfway through, and he’ll huff and sigh about being forced to attend for entirely too long.
Pyre (Underfell Papyrus): So, so incredibly jazzed to go, he loves theater and drama and stage performances and this will probably actually make his entire week, if not month. He’ll be talking about it for ages—before and after—and you’ll definitely win some major brownie points with him for even suggesting it.
Mal (Swapfell Sans): Less excited about the opera itself than he is the optics of it, the chance to do something sophisticated and classy and be seen doing it. He’ll want to make an evening of it, dress up, have a fancy dinner, see the show—all the bells and whistles.
Rus (Swapfell Papyrus): Not especially interested, but he’s pretty agreeable and open to trying most things if you’ll be there with him, so…sure, why not? He’ll probably have more fun than he thinks he will—he usually does!
Slate (Horrortale Sans): He’s not much of a fan of the arts, but…it would be an opportunity for you to dress up, and he doesn't get many of those… For that alone, he’ll agree to give it a shot.
Papy (Horrortale Papyrus): Any night on the town with you sounds like a good time, so if you want to see an opera, you’ll go to an opera! It certainly seems interesting enough, he’ll look forward to it.
Ash (Undergloom Sans): Very fond of music—especially the classics—so this is more or less up his alley. Might be a struggle getting him into any kind of formal wear, if you do want to dress up for the evening, and he may unintentionally drift off during intermission or slower parts, but it is something he’ll enjoy.
Yrus (Undergloom Papyrus): Not an opera buff, but always curious to take in different kinds of human culture and this is one of them. Plus, an evening out with you sounds lovely, a nice chance to bond!
Brick (Horrorfell Sans): Just not really his scene, or his type of music, nothing about it really rings to him like it’d be a good time. He’s gonna pass on it.
King (Horrorfell Papyrus): Still a fan of theater, and of subdued yet sophisticated evenings, he’s probably the most likely to have bought the tickets himself and splurged on box seats. He’ll say it’s just for the privacy and the leg room, and it’s true, but he’s also trying to make everything go as smoothly as possible because he wants to have a good time.
Merc (Horrorswap Sans): He isn’t especially familiar with opera or theater in general, but not opposed to giving it a try. If the performance gets as emotional as some people say they do, at least it’ll be dark and no one will catch him melting over a tragic aria or something.
Ell (Horrorswap Papyrus): Watching people sing isn’t really his thing. …Being around people isn’t really his thing either, so the idea of cramming into a crowded theater to see something he’s not even excited about isn’t doing much for him. Take him anywhere else, or nowhere else, but the opera’s not it for him.
Pitch (Horrorswapfell Sans): He likes music, he likes going out, he likes you—he sees little downside in an outing like this. …He also doesn’t see at all, but plenty of live theater has accessibility features, like audio-described performances and braille programs, so he’d still expect to have a nice time.
Nemo (Horrorswapfell Papyrus): Not much for crowds and not much for theater… He’ll probably feel a little guilty about it if it’s something you’re really into, but…he really doesn’t want to go.
Sunny (Gastertale Sans): He’s down to try just about anything once, so he’ll go and check it out even though he’s pretty clueless about the whole thing. Might need to be shushed once or twice for trying to ask you questions or make jokes while people are singing, but he’ll probably have fun.
Aster (Gastertale Papyrus): Very enthused about the whole thing, he likes music and stage performances and evenings out, so the opera checks a lot of his boxes. …Might need to be shushed once or twice for trying to tell you bits of trivia he learned about the specific opera you went to, but he’s just excited.
Spectr (Transcendtale Sans): He’s not necessarily opposed to music, but his situation being what it is, it’s difficult for him to go…anywhere, at least anywhere where it would be suspicious for him to cover up and people might get a close look at him. So…if you really want him to go, it’s gonna have to be a Phantom of the Opera type situation and you sneak in and watch from the rafters. …But he’s down if you are.
PapAIrus (Transcendtale Papyrus): As a digital ghost of sorts, it would be difficult for him to go to the opera as-is—though of course he could, get you a pair of smart-glasses and augment your reality by projecting himself into it, and an ear-piece that he could talk to you through. …But he doesn’t particularly want to. (Pretending like) His attention is on one thing for so long, and other peoples’ attention isn’t on him at all—it sounds boring, he’d rather skip it.
Xanth (Ascendswap Sans): It’s not especially his scene but he likes being around people and experiencing new things, so he’s happy to go along. Very likely to get choked up—if not from his own reaction to the performances, then from the emotional feedback of everybody around him reacting to the performances—but he doesn’t mind, so as long as you don’t mind, it’ll be a fun evening.
Piper (Ascendswap Papyrus): It’s harder to say something about the opera that he doesn’t like, because the singing, the passion, the costuming, it’s all right up his alley. He may manage to get you backstage after the show too, so if there’s anybody you’re dying to meet or get an autograph from, he’s a great guy to bring along.
Carmine (Underfell Fruition Sans): Not super into it and probably not gonna have an awesome time, but he likes to give things a fair shot before deciding he’s not about it, and opera’s one of those things. He’ll go with you once so you don’t have to go solo or find somebody else, but…maybe don’t expect an encore out of him.
Tank (Underfell Fruition Papyrus): It isn’t something he’s really encountered or engaged with before, but if you want him to be there, he will be there. He probably won’t have much to say about it, but he could end up enjoying it and would probably go again if you asked.
Vi (Swapfell Fruition Sans): He doesn’t really see the point of live performances of anything—can’t you just watch or listen to a recording? Still, he’ll go if you insist, but not especially likely to change his mind. …Which is to say, if there are any songs or plots that happen to hit deep for him, he has no plans to admit to that.
Hunter (Swapfell Fruition Papyrus): Frankly, he doesn’t have the attention span for it. Operas are long, usually in a different language, you have to sit still and be quiet the whole time you’re watching them… He could manage it, if he had to—like if he happened to be treating it like one of his jobs—but if free will is at play, his says it’s something he doesn’t wanna do and he won’t pretend otherwise.
Kohl (Descendtale Sans): He doesn’t like people, but he does like music, and a lot of operas have some psychologically interesting plots behind them. So…while he’s not especially thrilled at the idea of being out amongst the public (derogatory), an opera is something he’d be willing to tough it out for, and maybe have a nice time despite himself.
Bram (Descendtale Papyrus): Supremely excited to go to an opera! He might be a little more thrilled with a musical, but an opera sounds wonderful to him too—a great excuse to dress in his best and go out with you and see a performance on stage. (If he has anything to say about it, he’ll make at least five friends out of random strangers in the lobby, but that’s a secondary goal.)

would you consider updating the pet names post for the new guys? (specifically, what names they'd call their s/o) pitch calling his s/o "pet" and "kitten" in sweet treats had me WEAK...
Why yes, I can accommodate this request!
Ash (Undergloom Sans): Doesn’t lean too much on pet-names, they’re cute but a little too cutesy to be dropping all over the place willy-nilly, y’know? If he’s feeling a little goofy, he might call you ‘lover’ and really ham it up with an exaggeratedly “seductive” tone, just to make you laugh. ...But genuinely, privately, in his head and intimate moments with you, you’re definitely ‘bright-eyes.’
Yrus (Undergloom Papyrus): Very thoughtless about his pet-names, never really intentionally dropped--they just sort of happen-- and he’d get very flustered if you called him on it. ‘Dear-heart’ is a favorite and one he’ll use a little more indiscriminately (earlier in the relationship and occasionally in non-romantic contexts too), but when he’s distracted and casually drops a ‘sugarplum’ on you, that’s when you know he’s in deep.
Brick (Horrorfell Sans): When he’s talking about or to you, he loves to bring his first two claws to his chin and flick them down: ‘cute,’ literally, but ‘cutie’ in intention. He just thinks you’re adorable and he’s gotta make sure you know it. He’s also fond of giving the back of his hand a couple flicks to call you ‘pumpkin,’ since you’re just as cute and tasty as one. ;3 (He’ll probably also have a unique sign that he uses to stand in for your name in conversation, like ASL users tend to but that’ll be based off of your own unique traits, so unfortunately, I can’t tell you what that’d be!)
King (Horrorfell Papyrus): Almost never uses pet-names, they’re definitely too soft and he feels far more vulnerable using them than he’d like to be, so you’d have to be pretty far into the relationship before he’s willing to call you his ‘jewel’ to your face. You may be married by the time he lets the even more intimate ‘my heart’ slip out, but by then it’s definitely too much the truth (as he feels it) to feel embarrassed by.
Merc (Horrorswap Sans): Still fond of ‘darling’ and the ever classic ‘dear,’ when he’s being wholly sincere, but when he’s feeling playful, he gets a little more...adventurous. Pet-names are an easy way for him to fool around and be silly with you, even while maintaining The Façade, so you can go ahead and imagine any goofy, over the top, disgusting pet-name and he’ll probably say it at some point: ‘pookie,’ ‘snookums,’ ‘sugar-pie,’ ‘pudding pop,’ ‘cupcake,’ he has no shame and he’ll say it all...with a perfectly straight expression and even tone that just makes it funnier. He’ll tone it down if you ask, but he thinks it’s hilarious and would love to keep doing it.
Ell (Horrorswap Papyrus): Definitely not big on pet-names, they don’t come naturally to him and that makes them feel forced and not genuine enough when he does try to use them, so mostly he...doesn’t. But if you’re perceptive, if you’re really listening to him, you might notice that when you meet up with him, or if you surprise him, or you wake up together and he looks over at you, the first thing he says is starting to always be the same: “hey, you...” It doesn’t look like much written out, but when you hear it, when you see how he looks at you warmer and warmer every time... the more he says it, the more that ‘you’ sounds like ‘everything.’
Pitch (Horrorswapfell Sans): ‘Dear’ is a favorite still, as is the occasional ‘dearest,’ but when he’s feeling especially affectionate, yes, he’s very likely to call you ‘kitten,’ cute and feisty and very beloved. ‘Pet’ is the one you get when he’s cheeky and in the mood to tease-- he likes the possessive note of it about as much as he likes the chance it might rile you up a little and make you want to tease back. Rest assured, though, it’s all in good fun!
Nemo (Horrorswapfell Papyrus): Not all that verbal, so the pet-names are a little sparse too, just by extension. He will call you ‘beautiful’ often--whether you think of yourself as beautiful or not, you are to him, so of course he’ll want to tell you so sometimes--but that’s about it. ...Unless you count non-verbal pet-names, that is. Once you’re eased into the relationship far enough that the touch-barrier has been broken, you might notice that he likes to trace idle patterns on you with his claws, and if you really pay attention to what he’s tracing, you might also notice that the patterns aren’t always idle. Sometimes it’ll be your name, or a certain l-word, or maybe just a few little heart/soul-shapes to stand in for the same thing. You could call him on it and he’d be a little embarrassed, but he wouldn’t deny it, and unless you really hated it, he wouldn’t stop either. It’s just how he feels.
Sunny (Gastertale Sans): Calls you ‘kid’ romantically. You might also get some similar words, like ‘bro’ or ‘dude’ with the exact same sentiment, but ‘kid’ is the favorite, in spite of definitely being kind of old fashioned in comparison. He just... likes it, and in general the combination of casual, friendly terms with deeper, more genuine sentiment. If he’s feeling extra flirty, he might slip in a ‘sweets’ on you, but mostly, it’s ‘heya kid, what’s up?’ and ‘c’mere kid,’ and ‘damn, kid, you’re amazing... <3′
Aster (Gastertale Papyrus): A relatively traditional sort of fellow, he prefers some of the more classic terms of endearment himself, but tends to only use them in private. He’ll say them with some degree of playful exaggeration when you’re early in the relationship, but the longer it goes on, the more genuine the words will be. Still, getting hit with an earnest, gentlemanly ‘beloved’ for the first time might be a bit of a surprise if you’re not ready for it, and the errant ‘dove’ will probably hit just the same-- he’s extra fond of that one, actually, so he might hold it out for special occasions, or until he’s really sure you’re both a solid thing. But if you are, best get used to that now, because that’s what you have to look forward to! UwU

Are any of the new guys ok with being child free? (I keep having to explain to my fam how I'm NOT EVER going to have kids) And I'd like some solidarity from fictional skeletons.
Broadly speaking, I think all of them would be okay with that! In general, all the boys’ idea of the future is uncertain and something they need to work out with their s/o, so that informs the perspective a lot.
I truly don’t think ‘no kids’ or ‘yes kids’ would be an explicit deal-breaker for any of them, but in terms of where their thoughts naturally fall about the topic:
Pre-discussion/negotiation, it’s probably a no: Sky (Underswap Sans), Paps (Underswap Papyrus), Mal (Swapfell Sans), Rus (Swapfell Papyrus), Ash (Undergloom Sans), Brick (Horrorfell Sans), Merc (Horrorswap Sans), Pitch (Horrorswapfell Sans)
Genuinely neutral or undecided: Sans (Undertale), Pyre (Underfell Papyrus), Papy (Horrortale Papyrus), King (Horrorfell Papyrus), Ell (Horrorswap Papyrus), Sunny (Gastertale Sans), Aster (Gastertale Papyrus)
Pre-discussion/negotiation, it’s probably a yes: Papyrus (Undertale), Jasper (Underfell Sans), Slate (Horrortale Sans), Yrus (Undergloom Papyrus), Nemo (Horrorswapfell Papyrus)
But like I said... they’re flexible, because your relationship and the future they want to have with you doesn’t work without... well, you!
If you’re a ‘definitely no kids’ person and you see your skeleton in the ‘yes’ category, that doesn’t mean you’re doomed-- it just means a couple conversations about it to convey your thoughts...and depending on the level of gungho for having kids he is (most aren’t married to it), maybe agreeing to a compromise where you adopt an animal or two and be dog/cat/iguana/whatever-the-hell parents.
Same goes for a ‘yes i want kids’ person who sees their skeleton of choice in the ‘no’ section, that’s just where they are before talking it all out with you. Some time and a few conversations to understand where everybody’s coming from and how to move forward, they’re willing to negotiate.
Kids or no kids, neither is a deal-breaker, it’s all fine and you can work it out together!
Y’know what, while I’m at it, here’s just the basic thought processes of all of them, just to give a little peek into their skulls on the matter...
Sans (Undertale): Kids are fun, doesn’t have any particularly strong desire to have one of his own, but he raised his kid brother for awhile and he knows it’s something he can do, if it’s what you want.
Papyrus (Undertale): Kids are great and he’d be a great parent, he just knows it! You’d be a great parent, too! ...But if that’s not what you want to do, then that’s okay. There’s plenty of other great things for you to do together in life!
Sky (Underswap Sans): Kids are wonderful, but raising his little brother solo after their dad disappeared... That was hard and he definitely wasn’t ready for the responsibility. It was a humbling experience and he refuses to commit to having kids of his own until he’s sure it’s something he sincerely, passionately wants.
Paps (Underswap Papyrus): Feels awkward around kids, as a rule, and also kind of thinks of himself as a (mostly contained, at least) disaster of a skeleton. Is he ready for the responsibility of being in charge of a brand new being’s growth and development??? Not sure! Not sure at all!
Jasper (Underfell Sans): He likes kids alright... thinks about maybe having some of his own someday, the idea of a family is nice, in his head... but he definitely isn’t sure about the reality. Worries about if he’d be a good enough parent, or if his kids (if he were to have them) would resent him or just not like him. It’s a nice idea, but nothing’s set in stone for him.
Pyre (Underfell Papyrus): Honestly never thought about it. Part of him fully expected to die Underground in some battle or other, or excepting that, he wouldn’t find a partner who’d want to be with him long-term, much less long enough that he could make a family with them. He’s not...explicitly opposed to it, but he also hasn’t given it a lot of thought at all. He’ll need time to sort out his feelings, whatever his partner’s opinions on potential kids are.
Mal (Swapfell Sans): Terrified, petrified to have kids of his own. Being around them is...fine, but... He’s got a lot of issues tied up with his...parent... and having to be a pseudo-parent to his own brother at a very young age, it’s made him worry about repeating patterns and failing, hurting, damaging, or otherwise doing his own children a disservice, if he were to have them-- even as a grown and well-situated adult. If kids are something his partner really wants, they’ve got those insecurities to talk about with him for sure.
Rus (Swapfell Papyrus): He’s actually really good with kids, he relates to them well and always just talks to them like people, so of course they love him. But having his own... That, he’s not sure about. He’s definitely a little bit of a disaster, and still working on a lot of Adult Life Skills, and the thought of being in charge of a whole entire brand new person is more than a little scary. Not sure if he’s ready for that step--or if he’ll ever be!
Slate (Horrortale Sans): Loves kids, and loves the idea of a big family. He’s had more than enough death, life is very appealing to him and a full house honestly sounds wonderful. ...But he does have some memory issues, a dash of narcolepsy, and some hard, dissociative days that make him worry he might not be a very good parent. He’d do his best to do right by his kids if he ends up having them, of course he would, but if that’s just not in the cards for him, that wouldn’t be the end of the world. He’s the one who’d definitely want to bring in some furbabies if two-legged babies aren’t on the table, and he’d still be a very, very happy man!
Papy (Horrortale Papyrus): He likes kids, but doesn’t have many strong feelings on having his own. He’d be alright either way his partner wanted to go-- as long as the two of them are together and safe and happy, he’s got everything he needs.
Ash (Undergloom Sans): Kids are fun, but honestly...oof. He’s got a chronic fatigue thing going on and keeping up with a kid for more than an hour or two at a time... he’s not sure he could hack it. Maybe he could, but that’s really something to think about before just diving in, y’know?
Yrus (Undergloom Papyrus): Very good with children! They’re so curious and bright and he loves that about them! He’s got a lot of nurturing, caretaker tendencies built right into his personality, so he’s a natural at looking after and corralling them. He’s easily flustered and moves slow in his romantic relationships, though, so there’s a long timeline before the ‘should we have kids’ talk is even on the table, plenty of chances to share thoughts and work out a gameplan, whether that’s yea or nay. If yea, wonderful! If nay, he’d probably be just as happy babysitting friends’ kids and being Cool Uncle Papyrus as having any of his own.
Brick (Horrorfell Sans): It’s... a nice thought. But he definitely doesn’t trust himself enough to feel totally comfortable having kids of his own. He barely trusts himself in Polite Society some days, and he’d just be too worried about not being in control and hurting or scaring a little one, especially a little one of his own. He doesn’t think he’d ever be able to forgive himself if he made his own kid afraid of him. Plus memory issues, nightmares, (depending on his fluency at the time) a language barrier... So ‘no kids’ is...probably preferable, but if it’s something you really want... maybe start with an animal or two first? The ol’ practice-baby pet, see how it goes kinda deal, and move forward from there.
King (Horrorfell Papyrus): Like his counterpart, never really thought about it much...but when he does, he decides he could go either way on it. If you’re not interested in kids, fine, that’s more time for just the two of you. If you are, well... he was literally a monarch that ruled over all of monsterkind, for a time--surely, he could manage to be a passingly decent parent, with you as his partner in the endeavor. He’ll take his cues from you as to whether it’s a yes or a no.
Merc (Horrorswap Sans): His feelings haven’t really changed from pre-Famine. In fact, he’s probably more hesitant now, after so viscerally confronting the consequences of his own hasty decisions and having to face his own fallibility the way he did. The thought of being responsible for a whole small life is very nerve-wracking--especially if said proposed life is to be biologically his, because he really doesn’t know what the DT in his system (pre or post-integration) will pass on to theoretical next-of-kin, if anything at all. Maybe not a ‘never,’ but not a vigorous, enthusiastic ‘yes’ either, lots to think about...and maybe tests to run...
Ell (Horrorswap Papyrus): A couple years ago, he’d have been a little more in the ‘no’ camp, but now... He’s been through a lot. He’s struggling sometimes still, at least emotionally, but he made it, so y’know... maybe he’s capable of handling more than he thought he was. Still not a solid ‘yes’--he’s aware of his lack of filter and its tendency to cause hurt feelings, and he does like his peace and quiet, which kids are very much not conducive to, as a rule, so he’d have to put in some work and make some sacrifices-- but he’s no longer wholly a ‘no’ either. Depending on your own thoughts, there’s plenty of room to negotiate.
Pitch (Horrorswapfell Sans): Kids are fine, he can handle them well enough, and even the thought of having his own doesn’t stress him out so much as it once did--he’s changed a lot, and been through a lot, taking a second crack at parenthood from a new perspective wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world--but he’s also not particularly interested in it. He likes his leisure time and his luxuries, and much as he’s sure he could find room in that to accommodate a child...he doesn’t see much of a reason to. He could be convinced, if it’s something that you really want, but he’d also stay childfree without a second thought to the matter.
Nemo (Horrorswapfell Papyrus): Good with kids, like his counterpart, but also a little more capable and confident in himself and his ability to get things done. So... having a kid might be a little intimidating for him, but he generally feels like he could probably figure it out... and a kid might be a nice outlet for some of his caretaking urges, and extra motivation to keep fighting his phobia, to make sure their childhood is good and doesn’t suffer from them having a dad who’s scared to go outside. He definitely likes the idea of someone to look after and to be better for, but if that’s not for you, he wouldn’t force the issue. Would maybe want a furbaby though, instead, probably special needs that not everybody could/would be able to take care of (like Dizzy!) to fill that niche.
Sunny (Gastertale Sans): Kids are really cool and fun to hang out with--crazy little people, no filter, just running around, saying things, living life--they’re awesome, but he’s not totally sold on the idea of having his own. He does a lot of aimless life-living himself, and he feels like maybe that’s not the best thing for a kid. He doesn’t really have a career, he does things without a lot of planning, he goes places spontaneously, and... maybe that’s fun and exciting for a kid to be raised around, or maybe it’s unstable and harmful. He’s not really sure which and he probably doesn’t want to bring a kid into the mix until he knows. With a partner who’s a ‘yes’ on children and can help him co-parent and all that, sure, he’d probably be willing to give it a go. With one who’s a ‘no,’ that’s fine too, it’s a nonissue!
Aster (Gastertale Papyrus): A little weird and stiff around kids, never totally sure how he’s supposed to talk to them or what he’s meant to say (especially when it comes to those things you’re supposed to lie to kids about, he’s very bad at that!!!), but he has nothing against children in general. As far as the idea of having his own... Well, if his partner wants to have kids, it wouldn’t be a no-- he’d just have to do a lot of research on the subject first, to feel more comfortable and to hopefully prepare, mentally, as much as one can ever prepare for this. After that, he’d be open to discuss and negotiate the matter with his partner from there, to sort out the logistics. With a partner who doesn’t want kids, though, he’d almost certainly never even bring it up on his own and honestly probably thinks of ‘childfree’ as the expected default rather than something quirky, nontraditional, or a deal-breaker.
